Really nice game, the combination of a silent hill - esque athmosphere with the sudden children's puzzle is hilarious. I kept expecting a jump scare till the end ! Well done. The movement could be made a bit faster as trying to find the next solution was a bit tedious. Also, the camera was able to clip through some walls (which is offcourse fine for a jam game !). Well done, well made ! :)
Nice game, the atmosphere is scary, but input commands are a little bit strange.

Oh man, that's moody. Good job nailing the tension.
No these 2 genres are compatible it is called my math class lolz
The graphics look really good and the contrast between the environment and educational elements adds to this games eeriness. The story (may we call it a story? I'm just gonna call it a story) is intriguing. I had to play till the end and the ending is superb.
Damn, that was intense. The fact that I struggled with some of the tests made me feel bad about myself a bit:( The engine performs well, although there some clipping issue and I was able to peak through the walls. I was hoping to see the jump-scare coming, but no - you got me! Great entry!

OK so first of all - great job, seriously, that was atmospheric. I hope it was intentional to have the camera height be that of a child, combined with all of the simple puzzle games all over the place for captain bauldy. The repetitiveness of the textures actually works well because it somehow immerses you more. And yes, you did get a bit of a jump out of me and I even knew it was coming!!
Atmosphere was fantastic! I noticed you could clip the camera into any wall though so that broke the mood just a little but The end scared me so well done haha!
With the exception of the mouse look being a little slow and the small issue with clipping this was an amazing experience! I might have to get the family to play this with the lights turned off!

@JavaSaurus: You can actually sprint by holding down the CTRL key. I forgot to put this in the controls documentation. Thanks for the kind words!
@thibaut-blanca: Thanks! I'm not sure what you mean by the input commands.
@temmy: Thanks!
@legionz-gaming: Is your math teacher bald too?
@radioactiverambo: I'm glad it kept you intrigued!
@dimaswift: Don't feel bad, I put in some trick questions. I'm glad to hear the engine performed well on your computer. I'm aware of the clipping issues. I was hoping to have some time near the end of development to fix them, but I unfortunately did not.
@antonsem: I'm considering developing a more complete horror experience. Thanks!
@morphine: Thank you! The camera height was a deliberate choice. I felt being the size of a child would make the setting feel more spooky.
@patrick-sweeney: Sorry about the clipping. 48 hours goes by so fast and art assets take so much time. I have a list of things I wanted to get done but ran out of time before I could get to them and that was on it.
@kunonooni: I didn't even think to put a mouse sensitivity setting when paused. It would've been simple to do too. Sorry about that! If you played it with your family, let me know how it went.

I'm a little soft for Horror games. But amazing job! The atmosphere is tense

That game felt so eery, yet educational xD Really hit the theme on point. I felt my heart pumping as I answered the questions. I also don't deal with scary well, so maybe it was intensified for me xD I liked the render of the scene. I think the default volume for the footsteps was kind of loud. It overtakes the ambiance a little.
This was a really great game. Love how the childishness of the quizzes contrasted with the spooky house and how they slowly got more sinister as you went. The ending was great too :D Absolutely great work you have done with this one :)
You scared me with a boo, damn it. well, it's a well-made game. props for making it on your own engine. it's got some pretty impressive graphics for a jam game as well. all round good work!
It'd be great if you could check out our game too! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/rattys-stew-an-immersive-cooking-simulation

@jaime-paz-lopes Thanks! I'm glad you like it.
@Yanni Thanks for the feedback on the footsteps. I never was completely satisfied with that sound effect.
@gamesplusjames It was a pleasure watching you play. Thanks!
@joekickass Thanks! I tried downloading your game and WinRAR is telling me the file is corrupt. I tried downloading on two different computers and got the same message. I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm not able to try your game.

Very cool game! Really liked the atmosphere on this one!
@jharler hmm that's weird. that doesn't seem to happen for me. well, I've uploaded an alternate ZIP version on itch.io if you're still interested and have time. hopefully, that will work for you.

Creepy game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 41 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Wurw5JuaZs

Well, you managed to find a way to make a horror game featuring children feel even creepier, by adding in children's educational games. I swear I got chills when the kid's puzzle asked me what the colour of my blood was. I want to play the game through to the end, but a) I'm terrified at playing games like this, and b) The game crashes instantly when I click on a door to try and open it (even on the fixed version).
Nice game, but I'll watch @Jupiter_Hadley finish playing it instead of venturing into that house again.
Good job! Cool game!
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
I hope you continue with the project.

@Jupiter_Hadley Thanks for playing! I know you only do a minute or so per game, which is a shame because I'd love to see you complete the whole thing!
@been You shouldn't need to click on doors to open them (just walk into them if they are unlocked). It shouldn't be crashing though. If you could use http://pastebin.com to copy and paste the log.txt file in the same directory of the executable (after crashing), I would greatly appeciate it as it might help me diagnose and fix your crash.
@cristiano.m.garcia Thank you for playing and rating. I've played and rated yours as well! I plan on making another, more fully featured creepy/scary experience, but I don't think it will also be children's educational. :)

@been Thanks for the log. You're right, it didn't show much, but I've added additional logging and uploaded a new version (LD41.3.zip) if you're up to trying again. If you get a new log file, you can email it to me (jharler at gmail dot com) or send it via Twitter DM (@jharler_dev) or feel free to post a link here. Whichever is easiest for you.

@jharler Played through the game twice more, but didn't encounter any more crashes. I did get to finish it this time, and to answer the question at the very end: Yes, you did. Very much.

@been thanks for giving it another shot. Perhaps I inadvertently fixed the problem you were having. I'm glad you were able to play through the whole thing! 😁
