Match Shooter by Gipzo 2018-04-25T06:00:02Z
Nice little shooter with a twist. Although lining the enemies up correctly is indeed a bit hard. But playing the game feels good anyway.

I agree you shouldnt die immediately on contact with an asteroid. Also the sounds are uncomfortably loud. Then you added this thing where the shooting sound is hard panned either to the left or right speaker depending on the rotation of your ship which doesn't make a lot of sense to me. But a nice attempt at combining a space shooter with deck building.
Very nice work for just 5 hours! Would be a perfect mobile game. :)
Crashes instantly when I try to run it unfortunately.
Gorgeous graphics and great idea! However, please remember us poor german guys for whom Z and Y are swapped on the keyboard. Doesn't make your game any easier. :D
Pretty interesting concept. The only problems I found were that the game is lagging pretty hard whenever you hit enemies for some reason. Also froze on me when I tried to exit the game. But it was fun to play so far. :)
This is actually a lot of fun to play. Not very hard to reach the win condition, but after that, just build more and more laser guns and rocket launchers and the slaughter is on. :D
Would have loved to have some more info on what each weapon is/does. Other than that this was actually a really enjoyable experience. :) But why do we have to press ESC to continue? :D
Oh boy, this was tense. Really great atmosphere, including sounds. I think you could work on the way the ball is being rendered because it looks just flat and not sphere-ish at all. Also I think that the unlit area shouldn't be completely pitch black, but you should see faint silhouettes of the player and enemies. Other than that, this is really nice. Kudos! :)
@bcvery1 Thanks mate! Also, great to know the Linux build does indeed work. :))
@eddynardo Thanks! I had exactly the same idea with the paintball gun and yes, time restrictions is the only reason this is not in the game. Might add it later though. :) Also, I know what you mean, falling out of the sky is the primary way to die in this game. :D @shoj92 Yep, should have added an alternative way to choose colors. :/
@ididgame Thanks man! Getting to the top is indeed probably the best goal to set yourself in the game. Did it a few times myself, the video above is proof. :D
@gaming-night Thanks for being the first one to comment on the music. :)
@lumos I was aware of the problems people with color deficiency might have playing the came. Couldn't really come up with a good solution unfortunately. I'll look into how that could be alleviated in the post-compo-verson. Norse coolness all the way (even though I'm German)! :D
@gaming-night Right-on, mate. :)
@devinwilson Thanks for your kind words. I'll definitely keep working on this. Glad you enjoyed yourself so far. :)
@tomdeal Yea I'll have some tweaking to do concerning the colors, it's on my list. :D Thanks!
@yanni Thanks! I'm going to work on the mouse wheel issue and other things soon. I definitely want to polish this up a bit in the coming weeks and make it even more enjoyable. Cheers!
@randomphantom Thanks mate. The distance up to which cubes are able to be colored might be increased a bit I guess. I'll think about that. :)
@nutriz Thanks man. Will do! :)
@c1fr1 Thanks for your comment. I agree there isn't enough gameplay yet. I'm working on it. :)
I agree that the controls are not optimal. I think it would be better if this was a mouse based control-scheme. Like, click where you want to go, click on an enemy to attack. The game would probably still be hard enough. :) That being said, I like the mood of your game and the general idea.
Wow those tasty humans die fast. I even had them die right after I fed them. Maybe there actually was some mold involved after all. :D I'd make the game a little bit less hard or hectic maybe. Other than that, nice idea and I really enjoy the black-ish humor involved.
Neat idea. What I didn't like was the ball physics really, seemed very unpredictable to me (except that most balls flew right into space when I shot them, even if far away). Also didn't like the camera controls and not being able to zoom in.
I also didn't find out how to make enough money to continue building up your defense. But anyway, nice game. :)
Nice little game! I would probably change the mechanics such that you can still move even when you shoot. Other than that, fun game.
Very hard and hectic game but also a lot of fun. Nice soundtrack too. :)
I like the assets you did for the game. In my opinion though mouse sensitivity is too damn high and walking speed is too slow. Also if I'm honest I didn't really get what do to in the game. Still very nice effort.
Very nice idea. I think you shouldn't die immediately when you're caught, but maybe have an energy bar which gets drained or somethin like that. Also when I shoot with R, the ball just keeps going. I can't see the player anymore and get caught which doesn't seem fair. A few improvements and this could be a really neat little game. :)
Hard to play for me because on German keyboards, Y and Z are swapped. ;) Also, the sounds at the beginning of a round are really loud and unpleasant. But looks good and plays well enough.
Visually I find your game really appealing and the idea is really great. I think I need to practice a little bit though. :D
As for some negatives, the music is too loud. So loud that it's clipping actually. Although it sounds great, reminds me of the old MS-DOS AdLib days. :)
Another problem I found has to do with collisions. Have a look at this screenshot:
fbt.png
I think that the bar I marked with the red arrow should have gone down into the gap. That happened a few times to me.
Still, very nice entry. I'll keep practising. :)
Fun little game. What I did not like was that if you lose a life, the cost of new minions will not be reset, so it can be pretty hard to get new ones. I had lost all of them and it was just impossible to build up a new army. Another thing is that I think you should have the possibility to order your minions to attack a specific enemy. But they seemed to only attack what attacks them. One last thing: not possible to leave the game except Alt+F4. But overall it is a really nice effort and I kept playing quite a bit.
Nice effort, reminds me a bit of Paradroid from the looks of it. :) I agree that the intro text is too long. Also sometimes collisions can be a bit unfair.
Very funny game, good graphics, no sound sadly. But fun to play! :)
Good idea and nice execution. Debatable control-scheme though. :p
Nice game with great mechanics and artwork. Congrats!
Very hard game, but nice artwork and idea. :)
Nice little game with some problems, e.g. you can look through walls, you bounce back from stuff when you collide, the lighting seems a little off. But typos in this game hurt just as much as in real life (for me at least). :D
I had the same problem as @svdvorak. In my first run, tiles highlighted, but when I pressed E on them, nothing happened (made sure not to stand on them). I then started a new run, and now tiles wouldn't even highlight. Also when I started the night, there were no sounds anymore. Although I was able to kill the enemies. Would have loved to give this a chance, but unfortunately it's not playable for me. :/
Very nice looking game. Unfortunately I really suck at playing it. :id: Levels loaded instantly for me despite you warnings. :) Nice idea too!
Very very cool game. Really liked the atmosphere and art style. The only thing I didn't like was the shooting sound. I also do not like that this is a jam game and so there will be no sources. :D Really nice effort, kudos!
