LD42 — Running out of space

Raise the sea by Erkberg 2018-08-29T11:21:53Z

The game is surprisingly depressing in the best way possible. I like the effects and events that you managed to create (like making the iceberg melt). Add the message is strong(although I'm unsure how defiling the water makes the ice melt). The aestetic is very professional looking actually, at first glance it looks like something you quickly threw together but you use it so well that it looks fitting. The game also felt good to controll. Well done!

Slime Janitor by bradur 2018-09-01T15:51:42Z

Those shadows look amazing, i like the designs of the stages, they are quite challenging, well done!

Reverse by Goutye 2018-08-23T08:06:47Z

I had a similar idea but not as well established as this! I was amazed when I realized I had to shape the levels in order to reach the goal, i.e. The level design is superb! I also liked the sounds and how the pitch increased/decreased as I traveled up and down. Well done! :D

The last witch-knight by HolyBlackCat 2018-08-16T09:10:02Z

Did you code this in c++? That is amazing! How did you get this done in 48h?!??

This is obviously very impressive work but I have a few issues with the controls, I would have preferred to be able to aim with eg. the mouse as shooting in the same direction you are moving makes the game a bit too difficult IMO, the controls with Z, X for dashing, shooting respectively could probably have been mapped better since I frequently forgot which one does what, it might of course be because I needed more time to get used to them, but I would've preferred another scheme.

That being said I absolutely love this game and the polish with the visuals and the sounds you managed to get in such a short amount of time, extremely well done! :D

The last witch-knight by HolyBlackCat 2018-08-16T09:59:06Z

@HolyBlackCat Personally, I would map movement to WASD, I would map dash to left shift and shooting I think would be mapped to the space bar. but even this scheme might introduce some problems as the right hand now does most of the work. perhaps shooting up, down, left and right could be mapped to the arrow keys, making the space key obsolete?

Polygon Bash by josehzz 2018-08-24T13:03:39Z

I got to about 5600 points. Extremely addictive gameplay! It is somewhat easy to simply stick to the wall for a while and shoot(that's how I got to my score). Perhaps add more spikes in the walls to make it harder, though it is still very challenging. Good execution on the theme too! Well done!

If you shoot the space gets smaller by murcu 2018-08-24T13:32:52Z

I managed to stay alive about 56 seconds (wave 6). I liked the sound effects, very humoristic :D

Controlls where a little floaty, I think this is because you use GetAxis("horisontal") and vice versa, I would prefer a bit less floatiness, which should be obtainable by using GetAxisRaw("horizontal"), unless you want the game to be controlled as is. The collider on the player appeared to be bigger than the player was, so I took damage when I was close to the enemies, but not really touching them (although this might be because of my computers performance...). I also would've liked a little screenshaking or more feedback when I took damage, the damage sound is amusing but it wasn't always apparent if I took damage(other than the UI which decreased health by one each hit).

Otherwise good job! You have a good structure on your source btw!

Trapped Dwarfs by Vivoubos 2018-08-30T07:15:45Z

Great job on the intro! The game feels good to control and play, you could potentially highlight the block that the dwarf will attack to show the player if a block will be hit. The use of relics is also quite good. Well done! :D

King Midas by ded 2018-08-24T09:46:50Z

Interesting use of inventory and path-restriction. I would've liked to see some kind of feedback when attacking the enemies, same for taking damage.

Otherwise, well done!

Get Off My Lawn by silkworm_sweatshop 2018-08-27T16:07:42Z

GET OFF MY LAWN! I liked the polish and design of the game, the jazz music is also well made and fits the atmosphere of the game perfectly, well done!

Running Away by crastinator 2018-08-29T17:28:21Z

Perhaps I SHOULD go back and face life. Well made game! :D

Ultimate Boss Battle of Doom by Gurbx 2018-08-13T19:01:05Z

That last phase was insane! The polish is very well done, the design fits the theme and the sounds provide good feedback. The graphics are also of a very high quality.

One nitpick is that while the screen shake and all forms of feedback feel satisfying, I thought at first that jumping on the slimes would kill them, that was not the case (unless I got it wrong?). I would say that the feedback when jumping should perhaps appear only when you jump on the interactable objects (good objects to jump on?) and be "smaller" otherwise. That is only my opinion though.

There was also a small bug where the character appears over the floor tiles while falling to his death, but that doesn't affect my opinion of the game.

Very well done!

Defrag by Guillaume Gomez 2018-08-14T12:12:41Z

Great game! I did run into one bug when I jump outside of the current area but that is just a bug. Really enjoyed the music, art style and idea, it was challenging to maintain a concept of direction as the areas rotated. Well done!

The Screen Saver by SvartTand 2018-09-04T16:49:44Z

Very interresting idea to use the game window as the "space"! The polish and effects added much to the experience and shooting felt strangely satisfying. You might want to implement a position limit to prevent the player from walking outside the screen, but aside from that, well done!

Dr.Zallynzky by pell707 2018-08-29T17:05:55Z

An interresting and well polished entry! I like the artstyle, (nitpick incoming)but you might want to be careful not to mix the background with the for ground too much, there is some contrast to it now, but I would appriciate a bit more, just so I can clearly make out what belongs to the level and what doesn't. Well done everyone! :D

Maze Runner by carlosvVk 2018-08-30T11:31:16Z

10h? That's impressive! I like the interpretation of the theme that the "space" is the visual area, you could perhaps do a little bit more with it to say, obscure the vision of the player. An interresting idea would maybe be to allow the player to draw things on the screen, like numbers for a password or something. That way the player will obscure the screen with their own "doodles" of clues to get through the maze.

I also appreciate the well polished start screen, well done! :D

CLAMPRESSOR File Archiver by Deaymon 2018-08-29T11:00:43Z

Well defined gameplay and exceution. I like the 3d models for the Icons and the mobile setting. Well done!

Spatium by rodel77 2018-08-19T18:27:02Z

You have a good game here! You could probably create a simple level generator for this game and launch it. Well done!

Personal Space by ProdigalSon 2018-08-29T16:44:34Z

Extremely fun game! The design and excecution fit the theme perfectly and the 3d graphics look good! I really liked the sound, especially the music in the background! I unfortunately got stuck later, and when I tried to reset by making the player fall down I really got stuckCapture.PNG but that is a small bug, the game itself is great! Well done everyone!

Oh no! The sky is falling and we are still fighting a ridiculous balloon battle! by reizoukin 2018-08-29T11:36:02Z

Interresting game, I would have liked an AI opponent, bit in the interrest of time I understand why there was none. The art is well done and the music fits the strategic nature of the game. Nice use of theme by reducing space each turn! Well done!

Closed Trail by saturn007 2018-08-29T11:48:14Z

I like the level design and the idea, it fits the theme well, the movement needs refining hovewer. With more polish it could become a very interresting platformer!

Rumble by henriksoderberg 2018-08-13T19:19:09Z

Very simple, clean and nice concept/design complementing the theme. I got to 24 points and there is a certain urgency that I felt as the walls closed in. There were times when I felt that the movement was a bit too fast and one bug where the player constantly ran in one direction (might be because I let my mouse exit the screen at a bad time?).

The old-school look made it feel like I was playing an old, classic atari game(thank you!). Well done!

Light Towers [WEB] by Jack Maxwell 2018-08-21T13:38:54Z

Interesting game! It took me some time to understand what I was supposed to do but I managed to score a few points in the end. the colors could perhaps be made a bit "bigger" to clearly show which one the player is supposed to choose(that is, make the squares be more colored rather than black and colored around the edges), the choise of colors should perhaps also be a bit more diverse, white and cyan for example appeared similar to me. A better choise would, in my opinion, be: red, green, blue and white where the colors differ in contrast(although the red and yellow colors work well as is).

Beater by Velocity7 2018-09-02T14:14:46Z

Cool visualizer, it is a little unclear exactly how input manipulates the pitch, but it looks nice. The music is also great!

The Post-Grocery Conundrum by Luxry 2018-08-16T08:35:44Z

A very nice entry! I really enjoyed coming up with creative assemblies in order to make everything fit! the quality of the visuals and music are top notch! IMO the upbeat, happy bg-music should maybe be made a bit longer so that the repetitiveness of it doesn't become apparent/annoying when playing the game for long periods of time. The collision detection is also very impressive, it seems to be down to the pixel, and the physics is also something I wasn't expecting. Well done everyone! :)

Edit: I forgot to mention, The font looks nice, but when it is small and the text includes a lot of characters it becomes a little hard to read for me (I did like the references/jokes in the food descriptions though!)

Beaver Pitch by Andy D 2018-08-16T07:47:24Z

I really like the idea of protecting you logs from other beavers, Perhaps the game could have benefited from a few other obstacles like forcing the player to only move on the logs, that way the AI could shape the level and make the player choose how to reach the other beavers, ant the game ends once the flood opens up. I really liked the AI that started running away when I approached them. I am impressed you managed to do all this with a lisp gamekit. Well done! :)

Globulator by Corbak 2018-08-31T20:09:17Z

You could easily turn this into a game you have to play in med-school. This is a very interresting edutainment game! Well done!

float and stuff by wildcard 2018-08-13T08:22:47Z

Thank you for playing @lsummers! Yeah, the loss-state isn't very clear, I struggled coming up with ideas on how to restart the level once the goal wasn't reachable, perhaps it would've been better to allow the player to restart themselves once they realized they couldn't reach the goal

float and stuff by wildcard 2018-08-14T11:09:17Z

Thank you for playing @andy-d, glad you liked the restart-feature :)

Thank you @divotionthebest!:)

float and stuff by wildcard 2018-08-16T07:32:33Z

I agree, the levels sadly became rushed due to lack of time and vision. But I like your ideas, making it turn based and more strategic would definitely open up more possibilities on level and enemy designs. Unfortunately I did not consider the WASD problem, I will have to consider this in the future! I am also glad you liked the music :). Thank you for your feedback @gurbx!

float and stuff by wildcard 2018-08-17T13:17:00Z

@bustosman, @albin Thank you for playing! :D

float and stuff by wildcard 2018-08-19T20:03:29Z

@josehzz @jiri-holzel @big-cow Thank you for playing and providing feedback! :D @sambi Thank you for playing and bringing this to my attention! It appears to be a design bug in my code. In order to lighten the load of the path-finding I only check the fail-state when the player moves. This might be remedied by doing that same check when enemies move, I will have to look into it if I find the time. Thank you for your feedback as well, I am thinking of making it turn-based and seeing how it plays after that :D

Thank you everyone for playing and rating! Looking forward to next LD!

No Space In My Stomach by Roman Petrov 2018-08-24T14:37:22Z

Great game! I found that I sometimes couldn't jump from platforms that were moving downwards. Interesting take on the theme though.

Btw, I think you could easily make a horror game using the same artstyle, it kinda has that nice, creepy complexity to make it work.

Well done!

Clutter Dungeon by kodran 2018-08-29T10:51:50Z

Your graphics are well done and the sound fits the game well. I would've liked some kind of feedback when you have to select and put out things, it was quite unclear to me what I was supposed to do, but I got the hang of it after some trial and error. The game is impressive considering you wrote it in C, well done!

Climb by Albin 2018-08-19T18:13:33Z

Nice idea to have the game spawn items to climb on. it perfectly complements the theme! Well done!

Guardian Of The Tengri Mountain by akemala 2018-08-14T11:27:21Z

I really like the visuals and animations, it looks very professional! It took me some time to understand what I was supposed to do but I think the idea is solid and fun once you get the hang of maintaining mana and food. Some kind of feedback to show how far the player is from dying would be nice.

Good job!

Starship Panic by Evelyn Hagan 2018-09-04T17:04:13Z

Nice, it took a while to get used to the controll scheme and to grasp it all, but I got the hang of it! I like the use sound and art but the controlls could perhaps be tweaked, the qe and wasd layout doesn't work for me very well since I like to move and act at the same time. Perhaps left shift for button presses and junk-gathering. There is a lot of game here, you must have worked hard! Well done! :D

Acid Sink by Supernapie 2018-08-20T09:53:10Z

I loved the music and graphics, the polish here is also very great! The jumping could perhaps use some tweaking. I found it hard control the wall jumps, I might've preferred the acceleration of the character to be a little faster so that you reach top-speed faster. Right now the character wall jumps automatically if you hold down the jump button, I think it would feel better if you jump to the wall, get stuck to it(maybe slides down at a slower speed than falling speed) and then need to press jump a second time to wall jump, but that could just be a matter of taste.

The minimap could also perhaps be made a little bigger so that it is easier to navigate the level, make it a bit transparent too so that it doesn't obscure the area it covers. It could alternatively be positioned slightly closer to the center, or in one of the lower corners of the screen(unless this proves to be a blind spot) so that it doesn't cover any part of the upper area where the player searches for a "destination" so to speak.

But these are minor things, overall, I'd say you have a great game here :D Well done!

PLS Grandma STAPH by Necromic 2018-08-16T11:59:34Z

Completely relatable. I enjoyed the humor and clean artstyle, the music fits the game and the LD theme is used wonderfully here. Well done! :D

Flash Flush by BustosMan 2018-08-19T18:09:40Z

Interesting game! I like the music and the 3d-models. good job!

Space Waste by BBApps 2018-09-01T15:34:06Z

When I scrolled and it zoomed out to view the galaxy I was sold. Well done!

Leaving Room by LastLeaf 2018-09-03T17:24:16Z

Cool use of theme, I had fun trying to solve the puzzles, they are quite challenging. The story is very good! Well done!

Space Defender 2000 by Sambi 2018-08-23T16:58:03Z

Nice, the graphics look great! Do you use some kind of shader to make it murky-like? The animations and the feel of the game where better than I expected, the sound is also great and music fits the atmosphere perfectly. Well done!

Shrink by Sinan Kozak 2018-08-29T11:26:49Z

This would make an excellent mobile game! Well done!

Eject Tape by star-sought 2018-08-14T11:49:27Z

I can't say much of what hasn't already been said, well done on an surprisingly touching game!

Calorie Killers by big-cow 2018-08-23T16:47:11Z

Good game! I killed 64000 calories, I would be great if the player got perhaps other powerups the more you eat, like a stomp attack to damage nearby calories. Now the projectiles get bigger but I didn't notice if they also kill more calories. Perhaps letting the projectiles pierce a certain amount of calories relative to the size of the player?

Well done!

𝕴𝖓𝖋𝖊𝖗𝖓𝖔 by D A N T̵E̷not so Brown by Danilo Chiarlone 2018-08-29T11:11:31Z

cool idea, I think you should probably change it so that the obstacles aren't spawned so that they just pop up, now they appear seemingly out of nowhere and the speed of the player is too slow to actually avoid them. Some background-picture would have helped the player see more exactly where they are, now it is a little hard to see how fast you are falling. You really only get a sense of your speed once the obstacles appear and then you take damage. The font is cool though.

Still, you got a lot done in 6h, which is impressive. Well done!

shipme (Starbase Shipping Simulation) by lsummers 2018-08-13T19:42:34Z

The pop-ups are quite annoying once the game gets more hectic and I also had problems with actually getting the crates with my mouse because of the precision required.

But aside from that this is a beautiful little game, I enjoyed the soundtrack, design and challenge of the game. It wasn't immediately obvious to me what I was supposed to do but I catched on pretty quickly. I also enjoyed the space atmosphere! Very well done!

Crushing Depths by Ben ONeal 2018-08-20T09:27:41Z

Simple idea and good execution, I like how the player is incentivized to play the game with as little space as possible. I think this would make a great mobile game! Well done :D

Running Out Of Space by DivotionTheBest 2018-08-16T08:02:07Z

I really like the sound and artwork! The enemies and boss could use a health bar or some way to portray how much hp they have left(unless I just didn't see it?). The controls are a little too heavy for this, perhaps you could increase the acceleration to top velocity for the character and zoom the camera out. The shooting button should probably also be placed somewhere other than the F key. Other than that it is a good first game, well done! :)

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Chess for Dummies by TedX 2018-12-03T22:41:58Z

I think I reached a bug at level 9, I clicked on one of the pieces and the game stopped taking input. I will post an image showing my session, hope it helps.

The game is very addicting and fun to play, it feels satisfying to gather coins and the animations each piece has is very well made! The game would fit perfectly on mobile(and I see you have designed it with that in mind).

Personally I would like to see the number of coins needed to reach the next level on top of the progress bar. I think that will allow players to think more about what their next move should be. The effect that each piece has on one another could perhaps be better explained, now it feels like things happen randomly(but that might be intentional). I can understand why that would be difficult however since the game certainly is playable without that explicit knowledge.

Very good entry!feedback.PNG

Roguedare Ludumlike by Gurbx 2018-12-09T19:45:48Z

Your game is really good! I like the artwork and the sound effects all blend together really well. The game seems to me like a mix of classic DOOM and Minecraft(without the crafting part). Some problems with the dungeon I had was:

-The enemies sometimes spawned directly in front of me or directly at my side, making me take damage.

-The constant sacrifice of hp combined with the limited amount of hp potions obtainable in a run makes the game a bit too difficult, I think it would've been interesting to have some kind of random hp drops from enemies. That way the incentive to kill enemies is higher and not only to unlock the doors.

-The first person perspective and the somewhat small enemies that constantly go towards you makes combat a little bit frustrating, enemies that attack you from a distance could've been an interesting challenge (but I realize that would require a bit more work).

Aside from that I really enjoyed the polish here, you managed to get a lot done in time for the deadline!

Good work!

Santacrifice by SvartTand 2018-12-09T19:11:55Z

Well done! I like the sound effects and voice work put into this. The controlls feel good but sometimes it is too easy to loose controll and start gliding. You could maybe pan the camera slightly wowards the mouse to give the player more controll of the camera (whough that may cause too many problems with aiming in general). It would have been nice to have some kind of shield(if there was, I didn't find any) to avoid the meteors when god is unhappy. The pacing should perhaps be made a bit slower because it feels like god gets unhappy a bit too quickly(then again I couldn't kill the santas quickly enough, so it might be player error).

Other than that, I like what you have made here!

Slime Patrol by GroverTheGrovekeeper 2018-12-25T14:10:50Z

Your sprite work is top notch, the game looks very good! I think in terms of phasing the enemies should perhaps die a little faster, or have other attacks that make them a little bit more interresting because now I just avoided the enemies through the level and got to the next one fairly easily. I can see you put a lot of effort into the levels and there are of course multiple enemy types but I think you could have done more with less here. I think you could make the levels smaller/shorter for example. Very nice entry nonetheless!

HYPERFIGHT by hypersnow 2018-12-09T18:49:08Z

Nice game! The game controller option is much appreciated and the controlls are very nice and responsive. I get that the theme is utilized with the "points" but it could've been used perhaps a bit more, the notion of sacrifice wasn't really apparent to me. Some more sound effects would also be nice like swings and punches (Your voice acting was good btw!). The art is also very well made.

Good work!

Pyres by flynn 2018-12-30T10:08:01Z

Cool game! I really like the graphics and the sound quality, great work on those! The events and how you add some graphical effects when you move on the map is also very interesting, you could probably make a very good narrative experience out of this. Battles could perhaps be made a little bit more interesting, now it is just numbers going down. I think the phasing would be improved if the armies were smaller and walking across the map was sped up a bit, then you could make more events on the map where certain events not only decrease or increase your armies quantity but also increases morale to make them fight better next time or increase their defense etc.

Overall you have a great sense of polish and good mechanical promise here, well done!

Ice Runner by hungryghost 2018-12-09T18:33:51Z

This is a very well made game, I like the level design, feel and overall artistic look of it. In the last level I think it is okay to include "cheaps" deaths(like falling into a spike pit without seeing it from above) if you include more tries in the level. I had to retry the last level a couple of times(but that's just because I am bad at platforming). There is also a way to stay attached to the walls if you apply force towards them, I don't know if it is a feature or a bug but it meant that I could stop mid-fall by attaching myself to the wall and see what was below me.

Overall a very good and successful project, well done!

The Missing Piece by comenoha 2018-12-25T13:48:59Z

You have a really well done platformer here! The chaos that occurs in certain levels is hillarious :D Personally I would like the gravity to be a little bit weaker so that you don't fall quite as fast but that is just me. I really like the sketch book setting adn art style, it really sells the whole game for me. The sound is good too!

Sacrifice cycle by wildcard 2018-12-09T19:50:43Z

@evanaellio Thank you for playing! I really struggled to get the controlls right here. Next time I will have to plan in advance what the player is supposed to do and decide the controlls for that early.

Sacrifice cycle by wildcard 2018-12-30T09:59:12Z

Thank you for playing @hao-tian ! Yeah, the controlls are really poorly done here, I should've added more feedback for input and stuff. Text boxes that explain things would probably go a long way as well.

Regarding the 3D-2D graphics, I think it could be improved a lot, perhaps better camera work could fix it!

Sacrifice Department by krzymsky 2018-12-09T18:59:40Z

I really like the visuals and controlls, You've managed to make hitting things feel responsive without sound. That being said, the use of sound would've helped the game a lot. I also like the humor in the artstyle. A few more levels would be desirable but the fact that you have left me wanting more speaks volumes about the quality that is present here.

Well done!

Balloon Dum Dare by Evanaellio 2018-12-25T13:57:49Z

Nice idea and good excecution! I think you could decrease the time it takes to inflate baloons to speed up the process of getting all the baloons together. Good job on the game!

LD44 — Your life is currency

Assault on Crown Archipelago by aurel 2019-05-21T19:06:35Z

I am amazed! The amount of content here is aweome, if I have to pick anything to praise, it is the level design. You have made small levels that reward exploration and curiosity. it goes without saying that the sound and art also add a lot to the game. Well done!

Green Goo by Aggrathon 2019-05-02T20:50:36Z

Interesting use of the tech stack to use multiple physics objects. I really like the strategy/management aspects here, moving the bots feel nice too. I also appreciate the added story to the game, it gives good context to what the game is about. Well done!

Peak Myths by fashionbatman 2019-05-02T21:10:52Z

I especially enjoy the voice acting, sound effects and years of my life spent on getting lootboxes XD Well done!

Timezone by joemanaco 2019-04-29T16:20:28Z

The game is quite hard, I think the first level could be made easier by giving more time to the player, now you just automatically die if you try to attack enemies directly, but maybe you were going for that "in your face" difficulty. The artwork and music are on point, this feels like a legit complete game you can sell somewhere! Everything is so well polished and executed (aside from the immediate difficulty spike in my opinion), it feels nice to shoot, jumps have a good sense of control/weight and the level design is nice. Well done!

Seaway by Constantin 2019-05-05T19:42:38Z

Mood is amazing, the sound is on point and the visuals are stunning, I have nothing critical to add here. Well done!

Zoltan's Idea by Fanu 2019-05-19T10:47:33Z

Quite funny! like how you actually change the sprites based on which cat you choose, the stats are quite interresting too. What you have made is a game consisting of many smaller games. Well done!

BloodKeep by Mads 2019-05-21T18:51:07Z

Good job on the atmosphere and AI design! I found the idea of blood as currency was well implemented here! Good job!

Anthill by mikelovesrobots 2019-05-02T20:26:14Z

The minimalist visuals really makes the game seem polished! I really like the animations you have with the UI elements. The gameplay is so simple yet addicting for some reason. Good job!

Your life is currency by hypp 2019-05-02T20:59:45Z

The idea is certainly something I think more cart-racing games can learn from. Often you collect coins or something in those games for not immediately apparent effects. But your game includes a health system and all. The use of pixijs is also pretty impressive, well done!

Mansionvania by wildcard 2019-04-29T16:29:03Z

I'm sorry to hear that @mantaraytv-games, thank you for playing though! Could you be more specific? Is it the admittedly not too refined 2d-3d aspect? Or the attacks?

Mansionvania by wildcard 2019-04-29T16:35:48Z

Thank you for playing @evolus, @mikelovesrobots and @shp I agree @shp that the game is a bit too dark, I wanted to create a somewhat mysterious atmosphere but ran into some problems with the lighting later in the jam so I left it as is. I had all these ideas on how to handle combat, it was initially almost impossible to beat the boss XD, I decided to make it easier to avoid frustration as the game got quite buggy -_-

Mansionvania by wildcard 2019-04-29T16:55:14Z

Thank you so much for the feedback @mantaraytv-games ! I need to get better at polishing and noticing these kinds of things. I am using Unity CharacterController for movement(which admittedly doesn't make much sense in a 2d environment...). The camera placement is also a good point! I will take that into consideration in the future!

Mansionvania by wildcard 2019-04-29T17:16:08Z

I will definitely check them out!

Mansionvania by wildcard 2019-05-02T21:06:16Z

Thank you for playing @fashionbatman, happy to hear the boss surprised! :D

Mansionvania by wildcard 2019-05-05T18:29:48Z

Thank you for playing @datagreed and @flamus

@datagreed Thank you for your feedback, the input is a good point, I did not notice it when testing the game in short bursts, I usually used the other hand for jumping. Adding more ways of input is something I need to consider in the future. I'm also sorry for the jumping bugs, I did not notice them before finishing the build. I also wish I had more time to polish the boss death to make the end more apparent.

Mansionvania by wildcard 2019-05-21T19:10:02Z

Thank you @jordantanner @tommyflower @m0dsat @lubaka and @aurel for playing my game and providing feedback! I will make sure to learn from it :D

Bloodletter by shp 2019-05-02T20:38:16Z

Your experience with visual design and modelling is evident here! The smooth gameplay makes it very fun to move around and shoot. You also added quality of life stuff like settings and difficulty modes. Impressive, Well done!

Powerless by m110 2019-05-05T18:23:48Z

Nice game! I really appreciate the small easter eggs in the artwork. The sound is also well made and used. I also really appreciate the hacking minigame here, it feels nice when I press the keys. Sometimes when I move the character would keep going full force in the direction I was going, even when I changed movement direction. I would also appreciate a higher frequency on the shooting and perhaps a bigger bullet hitbox.

Aside from those gripes I also like your take on the theme as health being energy for a robot.

Well done everyone!

Powerless by m110 2019-05-05T18:51:04Z

As a note on the movement, it seems my keyboard is busted as of today(at least when playing games...) so disregard my comment about the movement!

Darkling by jordantanner 2019-05-19T09:17:36Z

Very nice atmosphere and gameplay, you deserve praise for the main menu as well, it's surprising how well it can turn out with a few extra animations! The upgrades between waves were also interresting, though sometimes enemies would spawn behind me, causing me to take damage. This of course forced me to focus more on attack.

Really nice game!

TimeForYourSouls by Suchista 2019-05-02T21:04:36Z

I'm impressed you managed to implement a reverse mechanic this well. The effect looks awesome! Well done!

Till Breath Do Us Part by DataGreed 2019-05-05T19:24:50Z

Great, solid game here! Nice idea to make oxygen into currency for bying weapons. I would like to move a little bit faster though to make exploration a little bit quicker. It would also be interresting to utilize the top down perspective to implement simple stealth. You could have a collider of varying size(depending on the enemy type) in front of the AI, and they start shooting only if the player collides with it(or if they take damage from a player bullet). I like the beat in the music, nice variation between stages too by the way!

Well done!

Worth a Coin by Evolus 2019-04-30T04:40:31Z

Nice game! I really like the athmosphere you create by having cars run by, the light they emit and the sound when they pass you! Great job everyone!

Flowaz by Harry Damm 2019-04-29T15:41:38Z

Very pleasant to play. The artstyle is simplistic but the way things move and the animations where characters react to/ use the things you give them are very well done! I like the music, it reminds me of Nujabes, the atmosphere is very relaxed with it. The theme is honored by representing petals on the flower right? That is actually pretty clever!

Good game!

Heartful Decisions by Lubaka 2019-05-21T18:55:39Z

Interesting idea, I don't have much to add here, but the purple text is kinda hard for me to read, would perhaps be better if it was black or maybe white. Good job!

Blood and goods by selewi 2019-05-02T20:20:15Z

I really like the tone of your game! The music adds a lot and the mechanics fit the theme very well! It would be interesting to see how you expand on this(if you choose to)!

TheAmmoLife by MantarayTV Games 2019-04-29T16:50:43Z

Interesting take on the theme! I would suggest to add a button for buying bullets on the keyboard like e for energy(or something) that way I can keep aiming while buying bullets! I really like the background as well, looks really nice! The aesthetic really stands out here! Well done!

Rhythm Jumper by Willops 2018-04-23T10:00:36Z

Awesome game! I found myself nodding with the beat while avoiding the flames, this is an amazing concept. Certain songs however were a bit hard to follow as melody and beat kinda got mixed together IMO. Despite that I kept playing it for longer than I expected. I would suggest adding multiple jump buttons, I would've preferred to use the left mouse button to jump for example. Again, well done!

Flappy Nerd by eddynardo 2018-05-09T08:18:34Z

Got 36 points, this is a very interresting idea and execution. Getting into the rhythm of waiting and tapping is fun and beating the highscore feels good. I noticed that despite the turnbased nature it was still hard to predict where the avatar would end up, waiting a second time in succession makes you fall further that the first time for example, but I guess that is just how the physics work. I played it longer than I anticipated, fun game!

SNAK3 by geeitsomelaldy 2018-04-23T15:30:02Z

I played untill I lost (at 77000 points) and I wish I could continue if only I had more time!Excellent entry!

TBFTWorLD41 by joemid 2018-05-09T07:54:10Z

Good aesthetic and visuals, really impressive! As others have said I found it hard to figure out what I was supposed to do, I get that I am a dinosaur and have to eat to survive but is there something else I am supposed to do? I also noticed that you show the creatures names on hover which is a good way to throw some educational info into the game, nice! I noticed there was a voice in the background but I couldn't quite make out what it was saying, what was the thought behind it? The controlls where also a bit weird as the avatar sometimes moved when I hadn't given any input.

Overall I would say this is a very polished game that could benefit from some sense of direction, or rather some kind of objective for the player to strive towards. Other than that, well done!

About Love by maskinmask 2018-04-28T12:28:48Z

The music and clean visuals are breathtaking. The theme of love is done in a way I have never seen before. It is a simple love story, but the mechanics make it so much more, it is possibly the best love story in a game I have ever experienced. The cutscenes portray what is happening so well that the game wouldn't need text to explain the situation and the emotional weight to each level. This is a stellar example on how to use mechanics for storytelling, Masterfully done!

GattaZoid by simonhutchinson 2018-04-26T20:08:46Z

I have a soft spot for games that try to implement music into the gameplay and in that regard I think what is here is amazing! The rhythm and the way it seamlessly blends with the background sound is brilliant! I did however find it dificult to judge exactly where the player avatar was and as a result I colided with the obstacles. This is a type of game that I would like to see more of. Also the visuals are perfect for the games tone, great job!

PE@CE by bwalter 2018-04-24T06:26:45Z

Fantastic game! Only small nitpick I have is that since the player is floating a little bit, it makes precicion platforming a little bit harder, but it might be intentional to add dificulty. it is impressive how much you have made under 48 hours!

Dance Duel Cowboy! by Quaternius 2018-04-23T17:42:09Z

A really polished project, I also like the animations. I found the rhythm to be a little hard to follow on the second level though. Perhaps if there was a bit more tolerance on input delay or maybe more feedback on input? It might be a subjective thing. I would also like to see the feedback words (awesome, good, bad etc.) closer to the bottom of the screen since my sight is mainly focused on the star. But other than that, good game!

Rythm is Lava by egordorichev 2018-04-23T10:42:45Z

This is the kind of game that makes me look at my own games and say: "I have a lot to learn". Amazing sound, gameplay, feel etc. You should feel proud of this project!

Space Chess by zoglu 2018-04-23T18:22:26Z

I never could've guessed chess and space-invaders fit so well together! The amount of content is stunning given the timelimit. Well done! You could just release the game on mobile and pc right now!

Dungeon Scrawl by ildfuglen 2018-04-23T14:49:06Z

I could sadly not finish it since the bug sometimes made me stuck in one place... But bugs aside I think this is the best typing game I have ever played! I could easily see this be used as a writing excercise in schools i.e. a beautiful example on how to use games for educational purposes! It could be expanded by adding levels that use only certain words for grade student and with further tweaking it could start training the player by using words that the player find difficult. Like saving certain words that frequently are misspelled and using them more and more in order to gain mastery of the typing-dungeon-crawling-skkills within all of us. Fantastic work!

Travis Beacon Teaches Fighting by niksg 2018-04-24T07:25:59Z

The animations, artstyle and concept is really great! I love to be reminded of how bad I am at typing :D. I think the game would benefit by having music that is a bit more "catchy" and making the inputs follow the beat more. Considering the time-limit, I find the amount of content here impressive.

Click Race by JustinM 2018-04-27T11:08:37Z

Interresting idea! You could probably expand this concept by allowing different sorts of platforms to be purchasable in diverging pathways. Coin manageing and platform prize balance might need some re-balancing so that a player doesn't need to wait idly on a platform while clicking on the get coin button. Good job on the visuals as well, they look really polished!

Real Time Tower Defense by rigdonware 2018-04-28T20:21:02Z

I agree with @Willops on the indicator, I found it difficult to controll the units in the game. Some balancing could also be done, I built my turrets directly outside the castle and the ai could't penetrate my defense. The 3d-work is good! The idle-animations and walk-cycles were well done. I can see you put down a lot of work on the game overall, the theme of rts and tower-defense is certainly interresting. Well done!

Blind Faith by LMB 2018-04-29T16:27:29Z

I like the artstyle and music, the game has some really interesting ideas. The concept of faith is something I rarely see in games so the ideas are refreshing. As others have pointed out I think the game should explain what the player is supposed to do better, you do have the description here, but an in game explanation of what the game is would be better. The mechanics could maybe also be explained further. I can see you have put down a lot of time on the world and the mechanics, good job!

PongCraft by meskaline 2018-04-23T10:14:31Z

This pong/resource-gathering concept works beautifully! I find it hard to get the ball past the ai though, then again the best way to win is by launching soldiers towards the opponent. It could perhaps be expanded by making it so that players can block the opponents soldiers by eg. choosing to block them instead of the ball. Playing the game and collecting resources feels satisfying. Well done!

Alchemist Adventure by Keppu 2018-04-23T14:35:24Z

Nice game! I got to the end eventually through trial and error. In my personal opinion I think the use of the bottles and the effects they have on enemies and the environment should be a little bit more grid based, for example: Always put the bottle in the middle of the tile and have it affect each tile arround it, now it falls exactly where the player is which means it becomes harder to see exactly which enemy is affected by the explosion. Aside from that small nitpick everything else was glorious! I especially like the sound effects and the pixel art, great job!

Alchemist Adventure by Keppu 2018-04-23T14:55:45Z

@Keppu I almost forgot! I had a problem finding the designated button for the ice-bottle. I am not shure if it was a bug or if I missed something but I did have trouble activating the ice-bottles (the red ones where fine, no trouble there!).

Chord Run by saturn007 2018-04-24T08:32:44Z

Nice idea. I noticed that moving place while jumping doesn't play any sound (perhaps jumping could play a different sound?). The spawn point when respawning is also a bit too close to the obstacles when you respawn. I would also want more of a top down view to give a clearer view of the level itself, but that's just my opinion.

On the more positive side it felt like I was playing piano the whole way through. The ability to change to the lane you want instantly instead of having to press left two times to get two steps to the left is brilliant and with more lanes you could make the player play complicated music pieces (hard mode maybe? :D). It was fun to play to the end!

Pizza Chef by imKrye 2018-05-09T08:08:30Z

I found it fun and challengeing to remember what pizzas where ordered. I was actually pretty hillarious to see the avatar run out of the kitchen with pepper and bacon to see what was ordered :D. Only criticism I have is that sometimes it gets hard to see if there is for example pepper on an order with many ingredients, the ingredients should, IMO, stand out more from each other so that they don't blend together which would make the "remember this order" more fair so to speak. Other than that, this is a fun entry!

Tsun Tsun Button Mash by Team Infernus 2018-04-28T12:54:55Z

The game is obviously nsfw and there is nothing wrong with that. I think the mechanics of gathering followers and training to impress the waifu works well, you could probably expand it with a more indepth story of college life to make the gameplay a bit more complex. I like the text bubbles and as others have said the text is sometimes too small to read, also as the gameplay is mostly spamming clicks I would try to make sure the player doesn't miss a piece of dialogue while spamming click (happened during one of the challenges). Interresting title though, well done!

Falling Labyrinth by LarrySeinfeld 2018-04-27T11:37:36Z

I have never played a game like this before, the mix of tetris and doom-like dungeon-crawling is just so well done here. To add to the criticism I would like some kind of bump sound or something when enemies appear, now they just pop up and when I was consumed in dungeon building I did not notice them immediately. You should have no problem selling a game like this (if you choose to sell it), well done!

TS 3001 by Alex Ferbrache 2018-04-28T09:08:40Z

The graphics were nice, controlls and the way you added the controll tutorial in-game was nice (so that the player doesn't need to read the documentation for controlls!). I agree with @niborious on the right-clicking for bomb activation, it could potentially add to the puzzle design. You did not have any sound in the game which is ok but I would've liked some sort of explotion sound for the bombs and a shooting ound. Other than that the game is well made and fun to play, good job!

Shoot the Notes by minirop 2018-04-28T20:39:40Z

I like the idea. I'll try not to repeat the criticisms in this thread but... the music got a bit repetitive. IMO the orange bar where the notes are accepted could be moved further towards the middle of the screen so that the scene and the rhythm bar can be seen as a cohesive whole. Certain notes could be colored differently to require right- or left-clicking (depending on color). Nonetheless the combination of rhythm and point/clicking is still executed well here, and under 6 hours no less. Impressive!

Whack-a-Rat by wildcard 2018-04-27T14:11:05Z

Thank you for the feedback @spthiel ! It is not just you who find the controls dislikable :D I will attempt to create better merging sounds and controlls in the future!

Whack-a-Rat by wildcard 2018-04-27T14:24:35Z

I am glad to hear it @simonhutchinson, nostalgia and the wacky style from those games was something I really wanted to recreate.

Whack-a-Rat by wildcard 2018-04-29T07:10:36Z

@LMB Thank you for playing! I agree that the theme is not really done justice here. I originally intended to make the game longer with more things to do but I overestimated my skills and had to reduce the scope when I realized the game would not be done in time with the original concept.

@Lost Dutchman Software Thank you!

Modern Fairway 4: Spec-Ops in the Rough by Lost Dutchman Software 2018-04-29T16:44:17Z

original idea and good taste in music! If there was an option for sensitivity I unfortunately missed it. A lot of fun albeit frustating at times, well done!

Tiny Crusader by nilstastic 2018-04-30T10:25:47Z

Amazing sprite art and ideas, well done!

Don't miss the Bus by raphimulator 2018-04-26T19:51:05Z

The humor in this is the real draw for me. The visuals of showering, brushing your teeth and jumping for your breakfast made me laugh so hard (not to mention that poor alarm clock XD)! If and when you add sound fx to it I hope you choose to maintain the same comical tone as the visuals have! impressive work!

Tempo Quest by Pixel-boy 2018-04-24T07:11:11Z

I could not find my way back to the beginning once I had all the hearts... But this game is insane, how did you manage to create such a massive world under this time limit? The only problem I had was that sometimes enemies would cover up the music arrows i.e. I couldn't see what I was supposed to input. Other than that I would say this is a finished product! YOu could easily release this today. Good job!

Text Fight Club by Daniel Dante 2018-04-26T19:40:13Z

It certainly has... balls?

I like the idea of inventory management in this. I think it also could be categorized as a puzzle game because of it. The music is a bit loud and maybe a bit repetitive? lowering the volume could probably fix my issue with it. Then again, the sound in my game isn't really anything to be proud of. Very interesting idea and execution, fun game!

Avenue Brawler 2.0 by Tom Cumpsty 2018-04-26T19:27:09Z

As others have, I like the music. There is just this humor to it that makes the game worth playing (even if that session doesn't last very long). Some small things I would like is for the previous command to dissapear after use (from the input bar) and possibly some kind of ability/mp system that prevents players from spamming strong attacks, unless the game works with the rock/paper/scissors principle.

Opening this game put a genuine smile on my face! :D

Witch's Escape by cristiano.m.garcia 2018-04-29T16:51:03Z

Fun game! I wish it sped up faster but that is all the criticism I have. Top notch sound design and artwork!
