Very cool soundtrack. Could not play for too long due to blinking arrows that irritated the eyes.
I think it will feel a little better if you make the projectile travel faster than the player :)
The game has a very good feel! Nice idea with asteroid edges count reduction when hit :) The music and art are good
Difficulty levels: - easy - hard - (rage) quit :D
just kidding. The first entry on compo I played that fully supported gamepad. The control feels smooth and the concept is cool. I actually enjoyed getting around in the van, reminded me of overcooked. Loved the random generation.
The music is a little bit annoying (reminded me of musical postcards), so thanks for the version with it turned off ;)
The fiction is nice, althought I didn't get the point of flipping the cards ten times in a row. What do they represent?
The skydiving was cool - reminded me of MDK or battle royale games. The art style - damn, this is so cool! Does the dropping location actually change anything in the level? Seems like it's the same level anyway :)
Sometimes when you jump near a wall you can break a tile at your headlevel that is not directly above you, but to the side.
I got stuck here not being able to get out of those bricks: Скриншот 2019-05-03 19.57.15.png
An enjojable game! I did not understand the concept of flipping over other than fun :) It's a nice touch that the camera does not go up with the aircraft, suggesting that you have to be as low a possible. I found the E-F controls a little bit weird. Why not E-D or R-F since they are closer together? :) Any way a cool entry!
"Press e to stab repeteadly" xD
Wow, I relly loved the game, the art and style feels polished. It was short, but the art was worth it!
The only thing that really annoyed me was transition speed - the fade out to black is too slow. There is also a but on a mansion level - I've managed to walk off the screen to the left and talk to a guy, than disguse after knockin him out (all off screen) - I guess if I walked to the right I would eventually find him anyway, so... :) Just a fun observation.
Didn't get a reference about theme being 5.0, what was it about?
Anyway, really loved the game!
Oops, it says that the source code link is expired
The art reminded me of old good flash quest games :) Nice touch with different musical notes when selecting options. Wish there was an into, but otherwise a nice text game.
Nice art and music, although I didn't get what's the win condition for the game?
What do the scales do?
Very cool for 48 hours. I like that you can build everything during the pause. Reminded me of a game from one of the past jams about drug dealing :)
What does the "spots" mean? I thought that it's a number of spots taken on the floor, but everything takes one spot anyway.
I wish you could read item description before actually placing it.
Lol, I managed to hire a person on a non-existing floor
Скриншот 2019-05-05 16.25.15.png
@nick-rafalski man, that's a very addicting game, thank you for it :) I hope you'll continue working on it after the LD
Wow, love the game, the blood from the blood fountain that flows through air to the mage is a very nice touch. Although, the game is quite hard for me - I've managed to hit the lever at the upper right part of the screen only once and after respawning I keep hitting the walls with the blood ball. Probably get to get some sleep and try again :D Wish I knew how to rate games :)
Wow, big data for dummies is pricey :) I didn't get how do you earn money when a company hires you - in "work" there is no option to actually work for them :)
It's funnu how the rabbit becomes semi-transparent when just groomed :) I think it's a great simulation, although its really hard to play constantly checking all of the metrics in real-time and matching the colors, probably would be easier if the metrics were represented near the corresponding buttons or right on them (e.g. filling up the button with color)
The music is good, but the sounds made me turn down the volume, since whenever you press "make step" in rapid succession, it goes nuts :))) Cool idea, wish the game was longer
Vampires! How did I not think about this one? :)) Cool idea and quite cool performance, love the villagers with pitchforks trying to stab the protagonist :D Reminded my of an old MageSlayer game from RavenSoftware that also had sprites and 3d art. The only problem I have was getting through the open door, it seems like even when the door is open there are two invisible parts that prevents you from passing anywhere far from dead center of the gate, although not game-breaking.
I think I gonna try to do something in 2.5D myself next time :)
I wish there was a way to speed up intro since it takes a lot of time and it makes no sense to watch it twice if you're already familiar with game. The delay between text screens is enormous.
Great music! The controls felt a little off, I found it's better to just mash space instead of holding items and throwing them for more wreckage :) Love the graphics. Love the theme, I can relate to it.
Can't continue after "he spent lots of time in front of computer", game just renders a black screen (html5) :(
@solah I am not sure what it was, but clearing reloading page really did help after deleting all session storage.
Nice platformer. Had some problems with jumping - it (seemingly) randomly stops working after hitting enemies on the run and start working again after you fully stop.
Wow, loved the graphics and the style. I wish the game screen was bigger or there was a fullscreen option in html5 version :)
The animation on the coin <3 Especially when he's about to fall :D
Reminded me of the Bread game :) Great example of a really fun and addicting game you can make relying on physical engine
interesting concept and the music adds to the mood :) By the way, why Q is down and A is up? It seems like it would be mmore logical to map "Q" for rise, since it's above "A" on the keyboard
Cool art and good puzzles! Lightning is also nice, how did you implement it?
The html5 version does not work for me on MacOS Chrome, I got only music, the description of the game and nothing else going on on the page :(
Damn, cookies are expensive in heaven :D
Awesome concept. I found that it's easier to farm money by blowing up buildings (love how they fall over, you feel a little bit like a Godzilla (bad pun intended))
LOL Скриншот 2019-05-03 21.02.02.png
By the way, the best soundtrack on compo entries so far! Well done
The graphics are good, as the idea. The controls are very hard to adjust too
Could not run the mac version :( Says the file is damaged
Could you please re-upload it?
@repine that did it, thanks!
Awesome game! Nice mechanic with the view radius. It's a good idea to make ammo deplatable, so you cannot spray'n'pray. Got stuck on run level :D
Nice survival shooter. Like how the shop goes under the ground surface before the way start - nice touch! Maybe add some head bobbling when moving and shooting?
Interestnig mechanic, but could not beat the first level - stuck at the bottom of the current and couldn't move out
I loved the light and the dungeon graphics. Iw ish the gates disappeared after passing through them since the map design relies mostly on guessing and it feels a little unfair to pay the passing price more than once.
Liked the rain effect. I wish the dash was mapped on something else then left shift (e.g. right shift) - it really hurt my hand at the end, I wish I could use one hanmd for movement and onther for dashing and jumping.
When you press jump right at the end of a dash you can sometimes gain height. Alternating jump and dash can make you through the level flying :)
The boss died unexpectedly, I was a little bit surprised to see "thanks for playing" screen right away as I did not realize I've actually killed him.
Stuck on the first shop trying to buy someting and not being able to do anything - 10 BP is not enough money to buy anything and getting out of the shop is not possible (I can lose the shop dialogue but unable to go anywhere)
Okay, reloading the game couple of times got me 15 BP and a bat, not sure why it didn't work the first time (skipped dialogue too fast)?
Nice game. Got to level 7, I managed to somehow pass the level with zero or -3 health.
@bentekiller aah, that could be it - probably I've ended up on the same level but generated from scratch. I played with the sound on mute, so probably I did not notice :) Maybe it would be a great idea to show "Game over" screen :)
Love the art and animations - everything is very smooth!
The cross in tutorial doesn't actually close the tutorial (seems like it's obstructed by an invisible button that advances the tutorial). The music was a little repetitve, so I just turned it off an played the game by some Disturbed songs :))
Giggity. Скриншот 2019-05-03 19.50.37.png
Not sure what is the gameplay here, you just click on things? To get more blood and then you buy something to increase the blood revenue?
The audio is good.
There are some problems with text in UI: Скриншот 2019-05-05 16.04.13.png
Addicting, had to play until I paid for that hat! :) Really nice concept and graphics. A suggestion: maybe make a coin stack burst into coins when falling from height, so you have to reassemble again? :)
absolutely loved the game! The warping mechanic is awesome :) The jumping sound irritated me a bit, but I got used to it
Nice concept, I think it will be more challenging if the game gained speed faster
The graphics are nice, although the movement felt a little slow. Hope you will continue the work on a game after the compo :)
the graphics are just awesome. I felt that the controls are a little strange. Its hard to understand what tick "`" you have to press to close the menu on a cyrillic keyboard like mine :D
The game stuck at sending the blood sample :( I realized, though, you can scroll up and select other options - is it supposed to be like that? The art and writing is nice though ;)
Damn, love the idea, literally nails the jam theme :D Nicely done!
It's really hard to figure out what to do exactly, but after reading the instructions here it became clearer, I wish there was some kind of small manual in the game itself :)
@1samuel411 thanks! I really appreciate that you noticed the legs rotation :) When I put the floors in, I realized it's very hard to notice the legs of the character as they lack contrast with the background but did not really have time to fix that :))
@pcmaster thanks! Yeah, it feels horrible when you don't have time to squeeze something in :) After completing each level you get an oxygen bonus (amount depends on level, I tried to use it for balancing, but did not get much time to do that right), the bonus covers the remaining tank and adds some seconds on top ;)
@138 Thanks! Good question about enemies running out of oxygen.
At first I was going to add this mechanic, but that would mean that I will have to develop a better AI that actually explores the level trying to find the player in order to survive and picks up oxygen tanks (which I did not really have time to), otherwise you could have outlived the enemies by hiding from them and I wanted the game to feel fast (well, I guess increasing the movement speed would also help this).
@al-bueche thanks! Originally I wanted to add strafing for enemies, so they'll try to dodge shots fired at them, but did not have time to implement it :)
@turtwiggy that's a good idea, thanks. I'll probably add a minimap or arrows pointing at enemies in post-compo update :)
@wildcard thank you for the review! I wish I had more time to playtest the game. I would definitely speed up the movement. Originally I thought about detection cones in front of enemies and wanted to add a mechanic that lets you kill enemies instantly by blowing up their oxygen tank (making it impossible to pick up, though), so the player could choose between going face-to-face and earning more oxygen, or blowing the enemy up from behind without oxygen reward.
Wish there was a mac or webGL version :( Looks like a fun take on Guitar hero :)
I think it should be arrows for player two :) Btw, love the font with pixelated shadow. Скриншот 2019-05-05 15.06.57.png
Very good entry, nice intro, great graphics. The game is hard, though. I could not beat the first alien, only scored twice against him. I think it will be more satisfying to play if player moved faster.
Loved the art and animation. The first levels are way too easy - just jump to the side, wait for the center platform to clear from slimes and get back. The punch attack is pretty useless, so I just avoided slimes before getting a sword.
I guess the way to tune up the difficulty would be making slime spawn constantly not only at the beginning.
I'm not sure if its my computer, but the music in HTML version was hiccuping. Otherwise a very good entry with an overall finished feel to it, I love the mood. Very hard, though. I didn't realize that enemies take your food meter down at first.
Just wanted to let you know that the source code and download links return 404 :(
Nice graphics! I managed to live negative number of years :)))
Seems like itch.io is struggling under load - can't load the html version yet, gonna get some sleep and try to play tomorrow. BTW, the Windows version does not work - says it's misssing DLLs.
I seem to play in the wrong way. I put a couple of turbines and get a game over :(
I could not get the knife and ran out of bullets before killing the first enemy, so I am stuck at the first level.
The menu is over the gameplay from the start and prompts me to either restart the level or quit, I reloaded the game several times before realizing you have to press Escape for it to disappear. It's also weird that the menu does not pause the gameplay :) The art is good, liked the guy with a crossbow :)
"Ходить по грешному миру" :D
I wish there was a mac or html version, so I am just rating humour based on the screenshots :))
Very hard game, kept dying. The sound effect for death was quite... naughty :joy: WASD+Z is not very comfy, but arrows+Z works just great. Love that the dungeon is procedurally generated (or at least seems to be). The potion of speed is more downgrade than upgrade as with the default light radius it's easier to bump into enemies.
How do you strike downwards?
Tried to join some matches, but wheneverthere is already one player in the match it says "Waiting for players" and nothing happens, Tried joining multiple rooms and waiting, but no luck :( Could not select the AI mode, guess its not implemented yet?
Screenshots look great and moody, wish I could try it, but I am on Mac
Screenshots looks awesome, wish I could try it, but I am on mac :(
The music is minimalistic, but very driving and suiting the game, love the atmosphere! It would be great if there was an option to play with an AI and to use keyboard.
Love the pulsing cubes and all the neon club vibe :)
Reminded me of Cyberia games shooting sequences, good old times :) You can make a nice rhythm game with this idea. The music is awesome :) Would be great to add some sound for the firing and asteroid explosion animations :)
nice variation on a tamagochi :)
@quichi thanks for such an extended comment!
I've just fixed a major frame drop in version 1.0.2 (live on web, the version should appear on title screen).
We decided to not include compass in a game and let you orient using footprints and sound to make you go around more carefully and notice where you a heading and preserve the feeling of being alone in the dark out there.
Landmarks is really a good idea, hope we had time to implement them :)
@keyo getting lost is the idea. Compass would make things really easy. You have to use your footprints to find your way back and also there is a bonfire sound when you're near the camp :)
The monster steps is a good idea. Now they are just making growling noises once (with 3d sound - gets louder/quiter depending on their position and pans from left to right)
@flaviat keep track of it using your footprints ;)
We've decided to open-source the game. It's now published under MIT License here - https://github.com/DataGreed/LD46
You can explore the code, sprites, animations, sounds and music and use it in your projects – just don't forget to mention us in the credits ;)
Thank you all for playing the game and commenting @quichi @oldknivestale @keyo @flaviat @aaiko @kirke @muchobestostudio @schizoid2k @ben657 @congusbongus @undead-aubergine @sodaking @rhiz @yy404
looks awesome, wish I could try it on mac
Fun twin-stick shooter with nice graphics! I wish you could hold the fire button to shoot though :)
Man, wish. I could try it, but I am on Mac. Could you please build a version for Mac or WebGL?
Tried the mac version on macOS 10.15.2, but it says that the app could not be launched :( Could be something to do with forcing all apps on 64bit architecture in latest macOS versions?
Nice theme interpretaiton, good sounds and animations
Fellow Pocket Operator user! Love the graphics and music :)
Nice music and graphics! Love that you took your time to make diagonal version for the sprites. I didn't really understand if there is a difference between just destroying enemies and pushing them to the pile in the center though.
Nice graphics! Reminded me of Tyrian
@torban @blue-pin-studio @jeff-chiu Sorry about that! There seemed to be some problem with the hosting, it should be fine now, ,could you please give it another try? We also managed to rebuild it for WebGL and it works quite well in fullscreen.
