LD48 — Deeper and deeper

The Squeaky Affair by bmacintosh 2021-04-28T10:16:26Z

The plot twist, the Memento reference, the (literal) lightbulb moment, the unique take on the theme, the slow reveal of the criminal - there are so many great touches in this game. Trilby's off to you, the first perfect game of the jam.

Gurk's Tower by monkeybit29 2021-04-26T10:11:29Z

I was skeptical of the mouse dash/attack control schema on first look, but it feel super fun and dynamic to play. Some debug errors were showing in the game.

DOWNHELL by Belonzik 2021-04-27T09:26:53Z

Super polished and the vibe is awesome, although this game kicked my ass. The enemy particle speeds were quite fast and hard to pick out with the color scheme. Fun regardless, and thematically appropriate for smashing through hell I guess?

Dark waters by antoined73 2021-04-27T10:02:57Z

Nice game, such a chill good experience. Lost track of time playing it

Into the Storm by Vladadamm 2021-05-02T02:39:41Z

Great atmosphere and the flight controls felt very responsive. It was a little jarring the first run as I flew straight ahead and failed before really getting a chance to experiment with the controls. The secret ending made me laugh out loud, a great moment that felt like the game was listening and respecting the players choices.

An Ore'ible Game by ygrichman 2021-04-28T09:13:04Z

The dump truck was a cool concept and very satisfyingly to unload a whole bunch of ore at once. A combo mechanic where you get more points for putting ore in in quick succession would have been neat to see and incentivize the truck use a bit more. Congrats on finishing a game!

Into David by mosaic 2021-04-26T11:31:11Z

Borderline fumblecore - in a good way, I'm having a great time just controlling the character. Excellent use of comedic timing, I'd love to see this premise expanded on.

Forest Walk by Emily Rizzo 2021-04-27T08:37:25Z

Nice little experience, I love the vibe although the music was a little quiet. Aesthetic combination of 2d and 3d worked really well

DeepPsy by JoaoG 2021-04-28T08:50:12Z

I got the same result as leorid, it looks like you need to set the game page to public?

We need gold! by Ninsky 2021-04-28T08:52:12Z

I think I had something similar when building Unity for webgl - if you haven't already try setting the compression to gzip

Deep Dark Deadly Forest by Itskdog 2021-04-28T09:43:21Z

Neat graphic style, really unique and gives it a creepy folklore-ish feel that really lends itself to the mood. The ability to add name villagers is a little touch that makes the village feel personal. The first time I rang the bell it wouldn't stop ringing and I had to restart unfortunately.

Aleph Null by Broken Robot Studios 2021-04-27T08:58:09Z

Neat little game, really clever the way the graphics and mechanics contributed to the theme; first luring you in, then becoming something you seek to escape. I think the flashing and color cycling could have been a little bit more controlled - it got a little off-putting quite early. Very cool nevertheless :)

Corporate Mole by JoeDev 2021-04-27T09:47:06Z

A ton of fun, the prefect length. Well done executing and scoping this, it was extremely polished.

Oceanwork by Warrrkus 2021-04-27T10:46:31Z

Great voice acting and world-building with a solid little gameplay loop. The shark was neat, although it would've been cool if they interacted with the player in some way. Very impressed with what you managed to pull off here in the timeframe. I've played over a dozen entries so far and this is the only one I feel like I may go back and play again later.

Dark Inside by haivron 2021-04-27T09:14:31Z

From one first-timer to another I think you absolutely killed it :). Fantastic graphics and atmosphere. The middle levels felt a little bit slow and I would have liked to see the double-jump come into play in an interesting way. Story was simple but effective and the opening scene on the desktop was charming. Looking forward to your future games.

Hell Train by Acule 2021-04-26T09:56:26Z

Cool look and feel to the game, but there was a real lack of feedback that made it hard to tell what was going on. I kinda found that the most effective strategy was to run up and down the carriage mashing interact. I think the time limit could have played into this - maybe if there was a little dialog box that played each time I interacted with something and ate up time it would have forced me to be a bit more thoughtful?

Wander through the caves in search of a new nest by arekb 2021-05-02T02:22:57Z

Really neat artstyle and a cool world that it'd be neat to see more of - every character in the game was unique and charming. I ran into a few glitches with the little followers being able to run through walls - nothing game breaking though. As some other people have mentioned I think it would've help understand the wall breaking mechanism with some text that's a bit more explicit.

Aby's Life 🐠 by Tieffeline 2021-04-27T10:19:09Z

Nice experience, all the elements worked really well together. The slow shift in tone was extremely well executed and kept me going deeper to see what I'd find.

Sword Whisperer by Malmorsus 2021-04-28T09:55:45Z

That felt super empowering - the sword throwing was a really playful mechanic. Overall really consistent and polished job across the entire experience, although the music loop was a little repetitive and short. Great length and feels like something that would be fun to speedrun.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Shotgun King: the Final Checkmate by benjamin 2022-04-08T09:47:23Z

Incredible game. If I had to nitpick a flaw I'd say it became a lot of work to pick out danger zones on complex board states. Something like Into the Breach's highlighted danger/safe zones would've helped decrease cognitive load.

Chromosphere by irwatts 2022-04-09T10:30:24Z

Great vibes, the music and visuals were top tier. Well done for being the first game in the jam I've played that's brave enough to fully commit to the theme without just escalating the difficulty. The buttons themselves clearly had a lot of thought go into the look and feel, they stole the show. I'm at a loss as to how you actually beat the tictactoe, I drew over a dozen times :/.

Electro Rush by Giardi 2022-04-09T08:36:21Z

Nice game, the character roll/dive felt really good and versatile in a way I haven't seen before. It would've been cool to be able to combo together some wall jumps with the dive to get height like in 3d Mario games but not being able to change direction mid-jump makes that difficult. As other people have said, checkpoints and different textures would've helped make this feel a bit smoother. Also falling of the platforms sometimes felt a bit punishing especially when on low battery - death would've been kinder than the wait lol. The diegetic battery/timer/lifebar was inspired, and it felt great to use the little recharge pads

Vomit Mage by jsec 2022-04-09T08:55:41Z

Great punchline and overall a really solid game. I kept running into a bug where my movespeed greatly dropped after killing an enemy, the game was a little visually dark, and the feedback when you hit an enemy wasn't enough to tell if you hurt them or not. Other than those minor things it was really well put together, and a fifth of the file size of the other unreal games I've played this jam! well done!

Dino Village by Suchista 2022-04-08T07:49:00Z

I had fun, all the systems seems to work pretty well. I did have a bit of trouble seeing my cursor when I went full screen but other than that the game was very readable.

A Void by Guillem Serra 2022-04-09T08:08:04Z

Great mood, the visuals and ambience of the tunnel work well. Throwing the light feels intuitive but it still felt a little hard to see obstacles far away - I could only really tell that they were there and wasn't able to tell where in the tunnel was safe/dangerous. The death sound could've used a bit more punch. The feel and tone of the flight felt like a Remedy game - the mood really overrides any flaws in the moment and left me feeling positive on the experience overall.

A Void by Guillem Serra 2022-04-09T08:08:50Z

And great pun in the title!

Click to Continue by Daniel Foutz 2022-04-08T10:25:18Z

Made me laugh out loud to myself multiple times, fantastic game.

I Wanna Be Awake for This by Sererena 2022-04-09T09:13:33Z

Funny and hits close to home lol. Patting the cat seems to be bugged and makes the character disappear. I got three different endings, very impressive detail.

1 Man 6 Bullets by Raphaeltan 2022-04-09T10:55:57Z

Hard to pick a highlight from this banger of a game, maybe the art? Has a great Mike Mignola vibe.

Prestidigitaxation by TomatoLamp 2022-04-09T08:17:59Z

Fantastic name, and the game's pretty good too. being able to see the amount of money I had in the shop would've been a nice QoL upgrade. Quite polished and well scoped - everything in the game was of a consistent quality and nothing felt unfinished.

Cosmic Castaway by Perrin 2022-04-07T10:38:02Z

Typically I find games made for jams have this predictable little emotional journey. They start of as a curiosity, filled with potential and sparkle. As the minutes slide by the game reveals its nature with each reveal removing a lot of potential until by the end where they typically outstay their welcome.

This game was the complete opposite of that. From the start I was pretty sure I knew what I was in for, staring down some generic game retro gameplay and a daunting 20 minute timer. That did not turn out to be the 20 minutes I expected, well done on a fantastic experience that went out on a high.

That password is terrifying given the action you have to do with it, I hope you know that.

AMBROSIA by pierogo 2022-04-08T09:01:42Z

Neat game, good atmosphere. the boxes were a little tricky to interact with at times - a couple of times they moved in directions I wasn't facing when I pulled. Puzzle design was simple but good, great length and pacing for a jam game.

RISR by fizzbark 2022-04-05T00:03:27Z

Oh thanks OrdiNeu, I only tested chrome. I'll have a look ASAP and see if I can fix it

Culmination by Arsen 2022-04-08T07:59:02Z

Neat little puzzle and the art was impressive given the timeframe. The monsters hitboxes were a bit confusing, an animation or even just a sound when you bump into them or lose health would go a long way to improving the feel. Some kind of fog or darkness in rooms and areas you aren't in would help it seem a bit more maze-like and up the horror.

The Torcher by infecsean 2022-04-08T11:31:04Z

Awesome graphics, the shaders on the distant trees is a cool effect and the hand drawn look of the wood texture works well. As a fellow 3am finisher I salute your effort.

Forest by StudioCherno 2022-04-07T10:54:18Z

Unfortunately I couldn't launch it - got an 'Incompatible Vulkan driver version' alert. I tried updating GPU driver, it's up to date as far as windows is concerned

[Don't] Prune the Money Tree by Orionhart 2022-04-08T08:27:58Z

Great presentation, audio and graphics were great! I had a little trouble understanding the pruning mechanism - is there a difference between cutting lots of small branches off vs one big one? Overall a very authentic plant-keep-alive simulator; I don't know what they want so I guess until the die from overwatering. Good fun!

Silentio by Emulization 2022-04-07T09:34:51Z

I feel like I needed a third hand to control a mouse and two sets of arrow keys at once. I couldn't really figure out what was expected of me as a player. The visuals and sound were impressive though and I feel like with a bit more time this would've been a great experience. If you make an updated version post jam I'd love to give it another look.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Speed Barber by PhoenixofForce 2022-10-10T08:58:33Z

My girlfriend played this on ketamine, she thought it was incredible. I'm going to go hide the clippers now.

Tower of Kraduul by Zliebowitz 2022-10-09T04:19:21Z

Nice game, also found Ancient Relics a bit op. Visible healthbars or some other indicator would've helped me understand when units are taking damage. Artstyle does a lot with a little - love the blob enemy animations. Music great too. What does the name Kraduul come from?

10 second switch (aka help my pain) by damedevy 2022-10-14T10:26:09Z

A good basis for a puzzle platformer. I enjoyed it, but a bit of refinement to the level design would've made the mechanics shine. The difficulty of levels was a bit all over the place, introducing new twist and mechanics to build on throughout may have helped give a more satisfying difficulty curve and better variety. My only other issue was the hitboxes of the spikes - kept hitting the invisible square corners and dying which was frustrating. I think a more creative mane would've improved my experience too; in my experience players will latch onto even a tiny bit of storytelling and create a narrative that you don't have to put much effort into.

Swamp Wizard and the Fight for Wizard Swamp by Bea 2022-10-09T05:18:11Z

There's lots that I really like about this. The tide effect is impressive! The music is fantastic! Great font choices! Excellent name! However... The gameplay is a bit frustrating, there's no real strategy beyond 'jump into range and hope you kill them first'. Less cooldown on the teleport I think would've helped feel more dynamic and fun. I read the comments and went back and played it again and although I got further I jus found the limited movement frustrating

Rush Hourk by Ethery 2022-10-10T08:11:18Z

The art and audio are impressively dystopian. I thought the game wasn't working at first; took me a minute to realise you were meant to click on the speech bubble. Good work making the boss so aggravating - I was hoping for a boss fight!

BackToSchool by Ironfred 2022-10-09T06:05:21Z

Good audio and everything worked well, but pretty hard to navigate as most halls look similar (although that was maybe intentional?). I only realised there was a run button mid-game. he game over could have lingered for a moment or so, I was flashed back to the start before I could realise what had happened. Teddy's 'Heehee' was very good and funny but also unsettling, well excuted.

Toot-al Darkness by woahitsjeff 2022-10-10T08:45:20Z

Nice concept and pretty impressive to pull together in the jam time. The mix of horror and levity was good at first but I'm not 100% convinced it came together. I found the level just a touch too disorienting, it crossed the fine line between feeling thematically oppressive and just feeling frustrating. I ended up wandering around for several minutes without seeing the monster or finding any more batteries. Played it because of the excellent name, no regrets.

Wyrmweaver by animawish 2022-10-10T08:24:39Z

There's potential here, the art is simple but coherent and the infinite turrets idea is pretty fun once it gets cranking. It did feel a little flat to play, even a little bit of game juice(particles, impacts, screenshake, etc) would really bring out the fun.

Would You Care For Seconds? by Rakr0s 2022-10-14T10:03:14Z

A great little QWOP-like! The Pretention level has got me wondering what a pinball game with this mechanic would play like. My only criticism is the 3rd level lagged like crazy(hot & heavy I think?), it took maybe 2 minutes to play out. Other than that a very fun, creative and funny game!

Cyblade: The Tale of Mark Wan by innocuousuk 2022-10-14T10:45:09Z

Lots of potential here and i mostly enjoyed my 2 playthroughs. Lots of little refinements to be made here; sfx were inaudible behind music, bullet physics unpredictable, aiming sometimes didn't go where I was clicking, enemies were unthreatening and slow. However the music was great and the two hand gun mechanic worked well - lots of potential here.

Sun's out Buns out by phufhi 2022-10-09T06:14:32Z

Excellent artwork, even minimal sound FX would've helped communicate gameplay. I wish the water + rocks = wall mechanic was explained earlier, otherwise it was pretty clear. The hand drawn title font and name were the highpoint for me, although I enjoyed my time with the rest of it.

Slayer Beats by Loki Drams 2022-10-14T10:08:59Z

The little bit of music I heard was great! I tried several times and couldn't get the beat hits to line up - as others have said there needs to be more refinement done on player feedback here, I can't tell when I'm supposed to be pressing?

Nua by Cayurr 2022-10-10T07:58:39Z

Nice little game, as other people have mentioned it's a quite coherent little puzzle. I think my biggest frustrations were the powerups not really being distinctive - it took me a while to remember what did what and some more relevant icons could have communicated this better than the colors. The minimal vibe is really neat and I love the the font choice on the title page, but it was a bit hard to read on longer bits of copy like the how to play text.

ITTTNOALTSFATWWAMPTJBANCKSUE10S! by Fenrei 2022-10-09T05:03:43Z

Solid game, LD embed didn't run but no issues with the Itch version. Well scoped and polished, pretty rare to see a tutorial in a jam game but the effort is appreciated. I only realized the notebook was meant to be typed in halfway through - still got 8/12. If you wanted to be really mean you could get customers to make noises over the lecture.

Pendulum by NUGameStudioClub 2022-10-09T04:33:19Z

Great art style. Sound design was great in some places(gramophone, unlocking noises when triggering an unlock), but the ticking really got annoying after a while. Unfortunately I couldn't complete the game as clickable items like the photo inside the pillow diapered and the teacup stood itself backup. Pretty minor stuff but it unfortunately made it impossible to tell what's going on - let me know if you fix it and I'll play again.

LD52 — Harvest

'Arr-vest by ThePelranthean 2023-01-15T02:18:01Z

Fun and pretty slick! I think the water could've done with a bit more love but a truly impressive job modelling the ships, they look fantastic. Gameplay and music both very solid, and I appreciated the little pirate jokes in the UI. All around a very solid entry.

Boba by danman9914 2023-01-11T02:00:47Z

I've played games that try to emulate a Feghoot before, but never one that manages to cram so much interesting detail and draw it out for so long. Great comedy, great execution.

Fall Faybound Festival by juxipolo 2023-01-14T22:59:56Z

Impressively complex system you've managed to build, I can see potential for some quite deep strategies. A decent variety of creatures and cards too. Piltheon is my favourite design. My biggest complaint is the UI is a bit small and hard to read, sacling up the text and icons under the creatures would remove a lot of frustration. I read your devlog on itch and it seems like you have a pretty good handle on what makes the system tick - I'll be following and interested to see how this develops :spy: .

Galactic Garden by MartensCedric 2023-01-15T01:18:05Z

Nice game, the tension between having to fly out to asteroids to grow/harvest vs sticking around the station to defend works really well. The biggest issue I had was the upgrade icons, it was pretty hard to tell what was going on. Having your money be your healthbar was an interesting risk/reward that was a hard ride to line, I was reluctant to get upgrades if I'd be left too poor. Overall very solid, gameplay, art, audio, and writing all very polished.

Chop Crop & Drop by Simon Rahnasto 2023-01-15T00:07:14Z

fantastic job and extremely polished for a jam game, well done to the whole team! If I'm going to nitpick I feel that the grid-based movement and positioning didn't really come into play too much. The pierce was almost impossible to pull off due to enemies moving towards you and in the final boss battle a safer option was to just stand on the corner where you take less damage.

I think it's a sign of a really good jam game that I wish it'd been a bit harder, really great stuff here.

When It's Harvest Time by Hoichael 2023-01-15T03:10:36Z

IT'S HARVEST TIME. Good fun, funny. As a couple of other people have said, hard to pick up the cash and get back to the vending machine, although that's hardly the point, is it?

Reap What You Sow by Hare Software 2023-01-12T09:46:45Z

Very interesting puzzle, atmosphere is charming and the AI voice is just a tiny bit infuriating. An alternate way to rotate the plants would've been good as I kept scrolling down the page on accident. It was a bit frustrating to not draw a rock or weeds for 4 turns in a row and just get bullied by your opponent too. And the game crashed to a black seed when I tried to harvest. But really good and polished otherwise.

It seems very well scoped, were there any extra features that got cut?

Goba Day by Jonas Tyroller 2023-01-13T09:14:32Z

Great balance of risk and reward made this a good satisfying game. A tiny bit more individuality would've gone a long way to make me more attached to the people, there were quite a few repeated names in my villages. Now I just want to know what a Gobafruit tastes like?

Brain Crops by BinaryPrinciple 2023-01-15T01:50:29Z

Nice game, solid graphics, sound, and writing. The player character felt a little flat to control with WASD, not sure if it needed some momentum tweaking or if this was just tuned for a thumbstick.

The Onion Quest by Dekajoo 2023-01-11T10:06:08Z

The art is good and charming, but I think even a small amount of sound would have gone a long way to improve the experience. In terms of balance I felt like it was lacking in things to spend money on - I had 5 vegetables I wanted at lvl 2 by about the3/4 mark - even after losing 6 coins to the random events 3 times. Not sure if it's intentional that you can only upgrade units to lvl2?

Fields Of Gold by Thierry 2023-01-12T09:24:16Z

Peaceful and very pretty to look at! It would've been a bit more relaxing if the crop stayed selected once planted - going back and forth clicking to select then clicking to plant constantly got a bit old.

N.O.A.S. by JudJudson 2023-01-14T22:10:14Z

Great art, humour, and an original take on the theme. As a few other folk have mentioned there's some frustration with movement and knowing what inputs are required. It also took me a while to figure out when it was safe to walk through a midair pineapple. a shadow or some visual indication of height other than the size might convey this a little better - or some kind of splash on impact so you can see and get a feel for the danger zone. A Pac-man style 'leave one side of the screen and re-enter in the other side' mechanic could be nice here too - it often felt a bit hopeless to get to anything but the closest few pots before they monsterize which limited tactics. Overall a pretty solid entry that feels just a few tweaks away from being addictive. Well done!

Children of the Combine by MilkWine 2023-01-11T09:36:01Z

Oddly heartwarming little trip of a game with great art and some genuinely funny dialog. The harvester itself seemed to have a delay controlling the steering - if you were to improve one thing making the harvester feel more responsive would go along way to improving the game. The comics didn't load, but I was able to piece things together retrospectively.

Wheat by Tiseno 2023-01-13T08:06:33Z

This is almost a rage game, I found it almost impossible to land back on the nest twice in a row but still had some fun. Of all the farming games in this jam, yours has the best looking wheatfield, very peaceful and satisfying to just watch it sway.

North 78 by fizzbark 2023-01-12T07:39:11Z

@maxlin, thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I could have sworn I put the movement code in FixedUpdate - and in fact I did! But not the camera follow code  . Good spotting :spy_tone1: .

North 78 by fizzbark 2023-01-15T02:40:09Z

@datagreed Clicking does nothing in the first couple of levels - you're meant to just use the flashlight direction to try and herd the deer. You'll get a gun later on.

Eden Harvest by KeichiTS 2023-01-14T23:12:49Z

Incredible atmosphere and the particle effects look fantastic. It took me a while to figure out that there was more than one line of text for each character, I'm not sure why  . All roses being white while you carry them makes things pretty confusing and the individual colors were hard to tell apart on my monitor. Would've played longer if there was more, nice job.

Arnold the Reaper by D3kryption 2023-01-11T08:54:04Z

Fun intro, the computer generated voice let down the comedic timing a bit. I like the concept of having to find an exact npc but the attacking and waiting on the animations felt quite clunky - I personally would've let the substitute reaper use his gun :stuck_out_tongue:

KICK by taxol 2023-01-13T08:31:58Z

An interesting theme and setting, and a good bit of potential for a solid puzzle. I was a bit confused that kicking always seems to provide the same amount of grain no matter how long it's held down, it seems like you should be able to do big and little kicks.

Aggro-Culture by Ategon 2023-01-15T02:38:03Z

Incredibly well polished from the scene transitions to the soundtrack. However the upgrades locked out of this version meant that a lot of core concepts don't work - there's no reason too plant wheat! What's here is fun but it felt like half a game. Heaps of potential here

Harvest Week by boaz4 2023-01-15T00:33:10Z

Good spooky atmosphere, writing, art, and music all worked well and were up to a good standard. The fate of the mum was very unsettling, more stuff along those lines could have been a bit more interesting than just people disappearing. great noises on the last night!

When The Wheat Grows by Better Half 2023-01-14T22:32:44Z

Did not quite expect the ending to be so grim! Great art and fantastic music, only a few minor issues stopping this from being a really strong entry. At one point the map background got stuck as the blacksmiths and there was no way to read the letter or get anymore details from items in my bag which made things a little confusing.

The what filling up mechanic wasn't fully explained and this meant most of my early conversations were spent experimenting and trying to figure this out, rather than picking the best dialog option. I know there was a hint to how this works with the leader's conversation at the start, but I think this should be explicitly spelled out, perhaps up above on the game page?

The art was also a little inconsistent in style, sometimes very pixelated, sometimes less so. Consistent scaling of assets would bring this up to a 5.

Characters were well-written and interesting, although I did manage to offend almost everyone  Great job!

Farming Rush by ASilvers 2023-01-15T01:38:37Z

Fun game, I only managed 233. The control system felt a bit odd, having to move my cursor to follow the where I was already directing the character with the keyboard was a bit of pain. A button to interact with the closest object instead would have felt a bit more intuitive maybe. The music was neat at first, good choice of instruments for the theme, however the loop was a bit short and it didn't fully match the pace of the game so it got a lottle bit ear-wormy late into the run. Plants were beautifully modelled, the strawberry in particular looks delicious :strawberry: :strawberry: :strawberry:

Macrogreens by joshedev 2023-01-11T09:18:54Z

wow, really well polished game with an impressive voice cast and score! I feel like you need some more screenshots on here as I wasn't expecting the game to look that good. My only real critique is that the pacing was little slow. Days felt quite long and there was never really a tension to get stuff done in time. having said that, the script and performances got to really shine because of this, so

Bad News Network by ZeAntwan 2023-05-08T10:44:43Z

Great concept and some of the headlines are gold, love the pasta one. They were a little hard to read due to the speed of things - voicing the newscaster and having them read them could have been fun. The balance was a little off as it was almost impossible to lose just by pulling random cards. A Reigns style system where each card has positive and negative effects on multiple things would be one way to make this more engaging. Graphics were simple individually but I really like the combined effect. Great job!

Hell'o-Cargo by agudar 2023-05-03T11:11:29Z

Great little game with lots of polish. The animations at the start tell a story really well. Levels are designed really well too, interesting little puzzles with solutions that aren't obvious after the first couple. My biggest issue with the game is that quite precise throwing is needed and it takes quite a bit of playing to get a feel for it. The core mechanic of throwing the package you're delivering does lead to some great gameplay, fantastic work across the board.

Give Us Our Sh%@ by Gnome4 2023-05-03T10:35:52Z

Nice concept! I found a cheese strat - just hit reset until you get red or black(the easy ones to aim) and get all 5 that way. I'm not sure if the level system was the best structure for this game as they felt very similar - maybe a see how many points you can get in 30seconds type mode would feel more exciting. Making the harder to hit colours worth more points would make it more worth it to try and get the green guy. Being able to see where the arrow was aiming before pressing space would make aiming a bit easier too. The box weights and physics were fun and all fell pretty satisfying when you get a bounce just right.

Sunset Delivery by nobiy 2023-05-08T10:32:58Z

Great aesthetic, the 'neon horizon' looks fantastic. I felt like the cap on top speed was a bit frustrating, even after all the upgrades. A higher top speed that takes longer to hit would really make things feel more intense and reward the player for managing to avoid collisions. The text boxes also contributed to this lack of momentum and made things feel a little stop and go. But apart from that a really well put together game, well done!

Wasteland Express by Gasimir 2023-05-03T11:23:39Z

Nice game, love all the little fallout easter eggs in the graphics. It took me a couple minutes to figure out what was going on, the graphical elements are all great on their own but together there is a lot of visual noise. Quite fun when I got into it, good job.

Then Came A Stork by bonkibot 2023-10-08T10:00:14Z

Beautiful and interesting, although it crashed during the ending reveal. Lots of clever details - the text/voices syncing up with not just the words but actual syllables is an impressive trick. You also mixed up the theme - delivery was the last one 🙃.

LD54 — Limited Space

BLOCKIES by Ayxs 2023-10-11T10:08:50Z

Really good entry! The WebGL version chugs a bit but the windows build ran smooth as butter. I'm not sure if the building a game theme really added much - at the core of this game is a really good abstract puzzle and the words really just distract from that. Great UI and everything runs smooth apart from a few block placing systems - I sometimes was unable to place a block exactly where I wanted on higher layers. As @somewan already suggested vertical rotation would be an incredible feature(although might make it too easy) Very polished, great job, and even the positive language used on the buttons adds to this great experience.

Textris by davision 2023-10-09T05:50:56Z

Cool idea, it did take me a while to figure out what was happening even on the v3 build. The way some squares get indented to fit the available letters is obviously necessary, but it never feels clear why that happens or how I can take advantage of it. As a result I often felt as a player teat I couldn't really control my fate or find clever puzzle solutions. The visual and audio presentation however are incredible. I had the music loop running for over 10 minutes and was still enjoying it, banger track.

Chargez by bentglasstube 2023-10-12T04:38:45Z

Great soundtrack and fun gameplay loop! Really quite impressively efficient game design, star particles in the background give a dynamic space feeling and all the controls and sound effects are minimal but make sense. A timer or indicator for when the 'dizzy' effect ends would help communicate what's happening, it's a bit hard to tell with that effect. I had some horizontal black bars flickering on the screen when playing the web build, bit otherwise all ran smooth. Nice work on the game + engine.

Gnome In The Abyss by Plepletier 2023-10-09T04:40:45Z

Nice little game, I managed to get a 180. A little more feedback to indicate which blocks are about to fall would be nice - unless you are watching very closely it's hard to know when you absolutely have to move. A bit more differentiation in the player character sprite also would help. The stark colors of this game work really well - very cool aesthetic.

Limited Space by milano23 2023-10-11T09:47:59Z

Ambitious idea and good use of the theme. The blueprint style graphics are a great idea to fir the theme but the player might need some more help knowing exactly what goal they're trying to beat - even with your description of 'build higher than the other building'. There are multiple other buildings! The building system is inherently pretty fun but you might need to restrict the number of beams the player can use or something as it seems like you can keep using the same strategy over and over again. Lots of potential here, overall not a bad entry.

The Ones You Keep by Hugimugi7 2023-10-12T05:23:25Z

Great little game, the voice cast did a fantastic job. The most frustrating part was being unable to rotate the cheese only 45 degrees - it'd free up so much space! The ambiguity at the end works really well. Great attentions to detail with the characterization too - neat that a single tennis racquet is not a great gift for two people.

The Relic by Furtive Pygmy 2023-10-06T06:58:23Z

I like the runes and the minimal visual style works really well. It was hard to tell when I was taking damage, that missing juice would've really pulled everything together. Gravity well effect with the bullets is a really cool and fun idea.

PUNCH by deniskazantsev 2023-10-05T06:52:07Z

Super interesting and fun game, does very well to build on a simple mechanic. Level design has a lot of nuance. Some sound and a bit of juice would go a long way and really make it an outstanding entry. The game crashed on the second boss btw, may have been when I landed the last hit but not 100% sure on this. Great concept and execution!

Carnage by Drunk Wizard 2023-10-08T10:17:27Z

Nice little game, it was a bit weird though that the car didn't have any momentum and just stopped instantly when you let go of the accelerator. The tyre marks were a great little detail.

Blockhead by Fnkee 2023-10-06T07:09:01Z

Very cool concept! In practice it was quite hard to put stuff where I wanted while still leaving space to jump and not get stuck. As @rolly already suggested wall jumping would really free up movement. Allowing the character to crouch and squeeze into smaller spaces would also help with maneuverability. I particularly like the characters limb animation, very expressive. Great job!

Space! Ltd. by Boyar 2023-10-03T08:02:06Z

Great music and a good little puzzler. The block queue gave me a bit of bad luck at times - not sure how random this was but it felt a bit frustrating and could maybe use some behind the scenes tweaking to make it easier for the player so they don't get stuck waiting on a colour. Really great job pulling everything together, game was clearly well scoped with clear player feedback and tutorialising. A little bit of juice would really take this to the next level. Nice work!

Space Inserters by Jeff Kerman 2023-10-08T09:55:10Z

Nice game, I had a similar take on the theme so found this very interesting. I think showing players the answer once they run out of time might help the user experience a bit here - I find I need to calibrate to new word games and figure out how obscure the words they're likely to use are. Being able to type at the end of the word and then putting a space in the middle afterwards would be a nice feature to help players that are attempting to work things out from the end first.

In Space, No One Can Hear You EXPLODE! by CataclysmicKnight 2023-10-03T09:08:02Z

Nice game, very polished and the screentop implementation worked great. I was about to write it off as too easy after getting through the first half unscathed, before rolling 1 for damage three times in a row and being forever a roll away from exploding. My only real nitpick is the rulesheet didn't have a summary at the top of the game's theme and how to play it, but that's pretty minor and it's impressive how clear all the rules were. Great job!

Skypiercer by Caladrius 2023-10-12T06:18:03Z

Great art and genuinely funny dialog, RIP Big Turtle. Since you wrote so many word I'll return the favor.

I mostly liked it but I'm genuinely not sure what to make of the AAA stuff with excessive quest markers and obnoxious HUD. I think it's supposed to be satire but it doesn't really lean into the joke enough to be humorous and more made the first floor frustrating that anything else. I think it would have been pretty hard to get lost in and having to consider my environment would've really drawn me in more as a player. As it stands it feels like you don't trust the player, which runs in the opposite direction to your preamble at the top of this page.

The mini-games were a bit clunky, but worked well to break up the walking and talking. It got good on the second level when the puzzle became more complex than 'talk to character with objective marker'. The bell puzzle could do with a bit more feedback - it isn't clear when it 'resets' if you do it wrong.

Audio was really strong all around - except for the big bells lacking impact and bass so they sound a bit impotent. Music loop was great.

Character art is top notch, it's impressive how much you were able to cram in. Overall art direction gives off a Paradise Killer meets Frog Detective vibe that works really well.

Really enjoyed this entry overall, the parts that're good are great and the parts I like less are at least very interesting to critique and have a strong direction. I'll keep a keen eye out for future entries!

Skyway 2 Heaven by raddishradish 2023-10-05T08:29:21Z

Neat concept and aesthetic. Unfortunately I found it pretty frustrating to play as the sheep would frequently block each others path and the framerate on web was pretty choppy. Trying to make a herding mechanic is I think a rite of passage for devs, it's one of those things that seems like an easy idea to implement but is actually very hard to make feel good. Great job on the Ui, very visually appealing and clean.

Downsizer by RyanWoods 2023-10-08T09:38:19Z

Cool concept and incredibly punchy sound and visuals. Unfortunately I had a similar experience to many other - map is very large and hard to keep track of things, Peekmehn move very fast and don't stop much so are hard to keep track of, and the behavior of them is hard to predict making it all quite difficult to play.

The art style is incredible, but the key interactables like televisions and vents get lost in the mix. Making these a bit higher in the visual hierarchy would really help the initial play experience.

Lots of potential here, I'll likely revisit the post-jam version soon, looking forward to seeing this developed.

Burn Beetle by Pious 2023-10-09T05:20:47Z

Neat little game, very polished. I'm not sure if a high score really fits this game, maybe if it had more of a roguelike structure? There's also potential here for more of a puzzle focus if you have to figure out the optimal order to burn things in order to get the berries you need to get to the end in time.

The biggest complaint I have is when moving and the tiles on the edge of the view range are appearing and disappearing. This was a cool effect but there is something unpleasant and almost nauseating to it - possibly a framerate issue?

Great art and audio, I wouldn't be surprised to see a great entry out of this team in a future jam.

Chrysopelea by fizzbark 2023-10-09T05:05:19Z

Thanks all for playing and the feedback!

@limichou I added the music pretty late and it ended up clashing with the sound effects so i had to quickly cut it.

@raddishradish The score is calculated by the number of spaces you had remaining against the 'par' of each level. So a par adds zero to your score, if you do it with one space remaining you get -1 added to the score and so on. Skipping the level adds a +1 to the score. The best score I've been able to do is -8, but i wouldn't be surprised if someone figures out a way to beat that.

I wish I could zoom out by reivilibre 2023-10-09T04:56:49Z

Fantastic game, arrow keys to scroll horizontally would be great. I probably should have looked at this painting before attempting it, knew there was a pearl earring in there somewhere.. Screenshot 2023-10-09 175225.png

Limited Space by Savidiy 2023-10-11T06:44:27Z

Solid little game, the level progression feels quite steady and fair. The explosion hitbox on an asteroid caught me out when I got damaged by blowing one up just in front of the ship - a more visible explosion or smaller hit box would help. Graphics style is clean and very readable. It really needs a better name though!

Last Light by ArivanEverdingen 2023-10-09T04:30:18Z

Great idea for a mechanic, lots of potential here! I fell thorough the floor on the second level through a pile of boxes some how and got stuck - a menu where players can reset or quit the game is really helpful, especially when the game is fullscreen only.

Trashy Space Dice by Sarah Northway 2023-10-11T07:32:08Z

Nice idea, using physics this way in a turn-based genre is a left field idea with a lot of potential. It took a little while to figure out what was happening but once it clicked it was fun. There's a bit of an issue with difficulty, I stopped playing at 700+ points but it felt like I could have pretty much gone infinite. There's no real reason to pick the actions that give +1 or +3 extra actions, so each turn you're pretty much just replacing an action and never getting more cluttered. All things considered a pretty solid entry, well done.
