Very fun game!! The star system was kinda broken but who cares? Made silly beards 10/10
Visually, very nice! The graphics are really nice. The actual rating system was a little weird, sometimes giving me 3 stars for not doing it correctly at all, sometimes 3 stars for doing it correct, sometimes 4 stars. There's not really any tutorial or ui or anything, but I think it's really easy to learn so I'll give it a pass on that. Good job!
Love to see a fellow SDL2 dev in Ludum Dare! Nice concept, sometimes it felt really random whether or not I was going to get a good score, but this was fun. Reminded me a lot of the Mario Party minigame where you trace a picture!
Very funny when I fail miserably, leaving patches of mustache everywhere, and I still get 3 stars. Great work though - it is pretty fun, although as @astronautguy said, the star rating system could definitely use some work. Great game though, and nice job!

NOTE: 1 minute before the submission deadline we added some background music, and fixed the scoring a bit(i hope)

As others have said the scoring system is kinda random, but otherwise it's a cool idea for a game! Maybe it could've used smaller hair "particles" so you can be more precise with the trimming.

Great use of the theme, and also pretty fun!
Also great graphics and nice sound effects, it did feel a lot like a metro station.
I'll join @astronautguy in saying a score tracking system or a leaderboard would be a very nice addition.
Also I can't help but think the "collision" between the razor and the beard could be improved, sometimes it felt like the machine didn't trim the hair that it should have; although I guess that behavior is fairly realistic :smile:
@mvasko2 First, thank you for playing :D Today I implemented a score tracker, but i am not sure if the change is small enough to upload it here (since "You can’t add new features"). I guess we still could upload the new version to github.
I feel sorry for some of my customers. Jokes aside really cool idea, felt really nice to trim those beards. Nice graphics and nice sound design.
This is a fun concept! I really enjoyed it.
Simple but fun! Adding some kind of ending and high-score screen after something like 10 customers would really benefit the game. And yeah, as other have said, sometimes we make quite a good score even if the result are far from what was requested.

Pretty fun game for a 10 hours sprint) Sounds can easy convey a feeling of the metro.
I think that calculation accuracy is not so accurate, but stars system is working. It would be really nice to see avaluation with money count system. For example each star gives 10$ to the Player. It would add some immersiveness and a goal for the Player.
Art in the game is really stylish.
Overall it looks interesting.

Simply fun! I played longer that I thought I would :D I know this is just a jam entry, but would be nice to have some progression in the game - I am sure you know that. Also, I found a bug: when I used the razor on the guys head, the hair stayed :P Well done!
I don't really like the art style, but the idea is brilliant. Best theme implementation so far. I had tons of fun shaving peoples beards.
Oh my gosh !! The laugh we had with my girlfriend, it's awsome. I always wanted to be a shady barber in a subway, "Quick & cheap". You just made my dream come true Actually great job on the game :) PS : I'd have loved to have hair with technique and be able to do both !

@mhorth For each style i placed some (more or less accurate) hitboxes. Then, when everything is loaded, i count how many hairs are inside and outside of those hitboxes. Lets call them beforeInside, beforeOutside. Then when the time is up and i count them again: afterInside, afterOutside. With those numbers we can write some sort of formula that calculates the score: - when afterInside= 0, everything that is important to the style was cut off, which results in score 0 - the same when nothing was cut off - otherwise i calculate the accuracies for the insides and outsides: - insideAccuracy = afterInside / beforeInside - outsideAccuracy = 1 - (afterOutside / beforeOutside) // 1-x because we want to reward cutting of unimportant hair
For the score a calculate the mean(= (insideAccuracy + outsideAccuracy) / 2) and multiply it with 4 and add 1. This results in a 0 when you do nothing, or cut off the wanted style. And should - in theory - give you nice scores from 1-4 depending how good you were. In praxis it is ok-ish - as you can read in the comments^^.

Oddly satisfying. Very amusing use of theme. I find it so funny hearing the sounds of a train station in the background. Would be great to see this expanded and polished. Good job!

Really interesting game with a cool concept ! What I liked: - The way you used the theme (very original). - The art. - the sound design.
Improvements: - Sometimes it's hard to be precise. - Also non symetric cut could be fun !

Very simple concept but executed really well! After a few attempts at being a good barber, I got a little silly. Somehow I got 4*s from giving a guy that wanted a moustache some rad mutton chops. Great change of pace from many of the other games!

the biggest problem is it really not have enough challenge, 10s seen just too much more than enough for most of the level, and by that I mean it can be a real fun and satisfying game easily! I mean you got nice graphic, nice sounds effect and a decent idea, good job!

really simple but fun game that managed to feel engaging, I love the art and gameplay. also realized that you guys went with SDL, I always appreciate the effort when people go low level instead of using a high level framework or game engine and you deserve credit for that my fellow nerds lol. also been cheking the source code and let me tell you that despit the time limit you managed to keep your code clean and understandable, great work!
I like the effort that the beard hairs keep a nice shape whatever the clipper's hits. But it makes sometimes the score a little incomprehensible.
It's maybe because of that you didn't make a final score (Or something like that) but I think it would be interesting. Fail a beard cut didn't has enough consequence. But it's a detail.
I'm not really convinced by the use of the theme. But the theme is not easy to play with.

The main mechanic was cool, dunno if I've seen this particular type of thing before. I felt the razor was a bit large to make some of the more detailed cuts. I also really wanted a "done" button for when the cut was really simple. Very smooth playing overall though, the ratings felt pretty accurate to what I'd done, which was very nice!

I liked the game and the theme but when I played three times the game and I find satisfying being a barber. the score is weird I think is something you need to fix but its a good game with so mutch potencial. <3
Lol, simple and funny, it gets adictive, I like the atmosphere of the subway, and the art is pretty, also I have a lot of 5 stars, have proofs of that, great work!

Okay this was really really fun and such a creative idea! It was executed so perfectly. I think the artwork is really well done, the ambient sounds just set the mood so well and the effects for shaving were done perfectly. I don't have any real criticisms other than I wish there was more to it and some levels and upgrades etc. I hope you release something like that in the future, I would be the first to play it!
This game is fun and can be addicting, however, once you start to realise the repetitive beard drawings, you begin to get bored.
