Nice idea, liked the implementation a lot. Probably a more feedback when the objects get closer would help, also more feedback when hit. The inertial movement added a lot of fun for me.

Nice idea, liked the implementation a lot. Probably a more feedback when the objects get closer would help, also more feedback when hit. The inertial movement added a lot of fun for me.
Very nice idea and cool implementation!
I did miss some powerups and sounds, though.
I think this has a lot of potential with more enemies/bosses, balanced waves and a hero/turret approach to defense.
Very enjoyable little game, well polished, awesome graphics, loved the mood. Could use some post jam enhancements to become a nice mobile game: a bit more depth (multiple kinds of pillows? multiple hits pillows? mice pillows? "protect the milk saucer" from small pillows mode?) and a control scheme better suited for mobile (just tap to attack pillow?, or swipe to attack more than one pillow?, cat moves toward target if not in range).
Looking forward to more good stuff in future jams, will also play your games for previous jams.
Well, it seems I already played & rated your entry for LD41, so now I'm REALLY looking forward to your LD43 entry. No pressure! :-p
Good theme implementation, would have liked more speed for the main character (or some power-ups to increase character speed) and some kind of warning before the laser eyes light up.
The sound and mood were very enjoyable.
It is visible! Guys comments in English please, this is the public comments section :-p
Coolest game I played this LD. I'm a bit upset right now, the goat died :-)
Some alarms would help to figure out some animal is in danger.
This game requires more playthroughs to see all the content, which is great for a jam game, especially one as playable as this one.
Well done!
Interesting idea, loved the implementation and the dialogue.
Very creative, amazing how Forth keeps you alive :-)
The tutorial is very cool, I wish the puzzles at the beginning (after tutorial) were a little easier.
Great idea, great implementation! Bit too hard for my slow reflexes, but great fun nonetheless!
Very well put together game! I couldn't figure out exploration though.
Great idea, fun implementation, loved the game over messages!
Found the controls a little difficult.
Took a bit to figure out what to do, good thing the instructions were right below the game area :-)
Loved the idea of a rampaging berry eating dragon.
Couldn't really tell how my dragon is doing (are the little guys hurting it, is it hungry - maybe the HUD on top should be a little bigger/higher contrast)
Fun game, better controls and higher difficulty would improve it IMO.
Nice idea, something I'd play on mobile if it was available. Wish I could win by conquering the red towns, for some reason I can't conquer anything that's on the edge of the map.
I think the graphics worked very well, not sure I understand how every piece works, ended up with an all legionaires army that worked quite well.
I managed to light up everything, then Amy got me!
ss.png
Fun game, I didn't expect any depth at all, but then found myself playing multiple times to try out new stuff.
Loved the graphics, sound and mood. Will play some more :-)
So much fun! I really did not expect to like it that much!
About the web version, give the rules another look, IIRC you can fix bugs after submission.
Really fun, despite being quite difficult! I think diagonal charges would make it somewhat easier.
I think the pixel art graphics are amazing!
Great fun! As other people mentioned, this would make a nice mobile game.
Ideas: more ways to entertain (of course), attractors that help control where people gather.
Will checkout the source code as I'm curious about Lua & Love.
Neat idea, wish there were more circuits.
Great concept, very nice graphics!
Very fun game, but the learning curve was quite steep. Wish there were some checkpoints where things at least slowed down a bit to allow one to switch die positions.
This game was rather confusing, but great fun and technically impressive nonetheless! I also noticed it's a compo game, which makes it even more awesome.
I managed to finish it (or die?), not entirely sure how.
If you find the time, I think the ideas this game is based on should be explored further.
Superb game! I can't think what to praise first, I think the graphics and the humor are my favourites. If you need humor to come first, I think you should unlearn a bit about drawing :-)
I wish it was more obvious how to turn the sound on!
Lots of fun! Nicely done!
Wish there was more content, but I guess more levels would have meant less polish, and there is only so much time in a game jam :-)
Special congrats to the sound people!
Web version doesn't load for me (Ubuntu + Firefox 81).
Neat idea. Wish the game was a bit easier at the start (give me more time to figure out the "loop trap"). It was way easier to just shoot the enemies and not trap them.
Amazing fun! Music a little jarring, but other than that, everything was great.
Will there be a mobile version? :-D
Very nice game! Loved the take on the theme!
Also very much enjoyed the simple but very effective art.
Great idea and voice acting!
The voice and "how are the kids" line got repetitive after a while (which is a good thing, meant I kept playing the game).
Very much worth developing further (assuming you do manage to get out of work early).
Very fun concept, I enjoyed playing it alone, I think it would have been extremely amusing to play it with other people. I think this idea is worth exploring as a simple mobile game with networked multiplayer.
You need to rate other games to get more ratings!
Very nice concept, wish the learning curve was a bit less steep.
Love the sounds.
One of the loopiest games I've played in this jam! Well done!
Especially loved the sounds and the level design!
Fun game! I think there's a Pico8-browser focus problem, I couldn't play it on Firefox, my x's and z's kept ending up as page searches, but it was fine on Chrome.
Also very nice to find a game with a merciful learning curve :-)
Hey everyone, thanks for the kind words! Not a lot of free time right now (and whatever there is goes to rating other games), but we'll take the feedback into consideration, especially @brandoncimino's very well thought out ideas.
Thanks again!
Neat gameplay, I guess with the Ctulhu-esque theme there is also a loop somewhere in there, it is just very, very long :-)
Loved the learning curve, I've played a lot of games this jam where it was way too steep.
Fun little game, a bit hard for me from the start.
So much fun! Couldn't get past the second archer though, but got very close.
Very nice graphics and audio, loved the death-rewind animation.
Nice game! I wish there was some kind of checkpoint system (or maybe there is but I did not reach the first checkpoint?), I kept dying and restarting from the very beginning got tiresome.
Other than that, the game felt very polished, quite rare for jam/compo games.
Awesome soundtrack!
Nice idea and good implementation! Rather hard to put down, actually. Well done!
Nice idea, good implementation. The learning curve was a bit steep for me. I played it first without sound, but did better with my headphones on - so maybe there should be more visual feedback when you "lock" onto an area. I like the way the theme was implemented, this is a game worth more development.
I tried the HTML5 link and it didn't work (got a 404 from itch.io).
Nice idea, but the game is rather unforgiving, you should try to make it easier on the player.
You need to rate other games to get more ratings!
Hello there!
You need to rate other games to get more ratings!
Your can host your WebGL version directly on itch.io, so people don't have to download anything (and therefore have a very easy time playing your game).
Very nice game! Loved the graphics and sounds, and the fact that in the first level the waves of birds seemed to alternate between easy and hard (few and many birds, respectively).
I wish the game was easier (couldn't get past the first jump on level two and needed several attempts for level one).
Packaging the game as an executable (or even better, for the web) would really help with getting more ratings.
Hello there!
You need to rate other games to get more ratings! Also try to make an executable version (or even better, a web version) to make it easier for others to play your game and rate it.
Amazing game, definitely worth a mobile version. Loved everything: graphics, sound, feel. Wish it was a little easier :-D
Neat idea! Wish there was some sound.
Some more visual feedback of what is going on would be useful. For instance, something like a progress/fill bar for each station.
Loved the animation of the station going out of control!
Fun idea, nice implementation, a tutorial (even in the shape of a simplified game) would be very, very useful.
Loved the sounds and the graphics. Brought back almost 30 years old memories of Railroad Tycoon :-)
Very nice, very relaxing, has potential. Chickilization? Egg Tycoon?
Also reminded me of the computer game they played in Peppa Pig... can't find the name right now.
Some kind of automation would be nice (e.g. hire somebody to pick up eggs in exchange for some of the eggs)
Loved the graphics and the mood.
Insanely fun despite being rather hard (for me). I think a friendlier difficulty curve would be nice :-)
Some games started easy, some were downright impossible - which I guess makes it more addictive.
Well done!
I didn't know what I was doing (except matching the colors and trying to push all the percentages up), but had fun even when losing. The polka is awesome. Well done!
EDIT: The FTL vibes were very enjoyable :-)
EDIT2: I won, but couldn't figure out why :-)
Game does not load for me, Windows 10. Firefox 105 and Chrome 106 both fail to show anything than a white background where the game should be.
Very nice game! Enjoyed the atmosphere very much. The background sounds were great.
@kimynay Thanks! I just uploaded a new version with smaller hitboxes, control tweaks and some other small improvements.
Really fun and polished. I really liked the sound and graphics. I think one way to integrate the theme (I know, there's barely any time left) is to have "fog of war" and remove the fog from one square every ten seconds :-)
Grrr, I'm spending way too much time on this game! Well done!
Besides graphics, audio etc. I'm really impressed with the space station feel (makes me think of DS-9 and related shows) of the game.
Very cool game. I'm awed by the amount of content - though not sure how much is actually procedural... :-)
Amazing! I think this game is what the FTL guys were actually trying to do :-D
Loved the concept and atmosphere.
I managed to finish the game without understanding what the calamity beam does. Which means the difficulty was calibrated properly for the first levels (I died a couple of times but managed to quickly finish all levels), but there is probably room to add a lot more content, alas the JAM time is short. I think this game is worth further development.
Well done!
Loved the sound and mood! The food textures should be a little more detailed, I was struggling to identify the items - or is that intentional?
Well done!
Loved the spacey atmosphere, I wish the UI was a bit more responsive (some feedback when buying stuff, at first I thought the buttons did not work).
Very nice how there are multiple variables to keep track of while trying to shoot down the aliens. Well done!
Very nice idea. Talk about shooting oneself in the foot :-)
Some random powerups besides money would be nice (temporary shield, extra life, temporarily stop shooting, temporarily slow down bullets, money multiplier etc.).
At times it felt like the bullets were chasing me :-D
Fun idea. I need to come back with pen and paper :-)
I think a sequence of smaller screens to solve in 10 seconds would work better (the first in the sequence can be very easy, the last one maybe as hard as the one screen in the game now).
EDIT: some messages seemed incomplete, couldn't find a way to scroll/see the rest of the message.
Nicest game I played so far in LD51! A bit too hard for me (easier once I realized I could move), but it's one of the games I'll come back to and try to master.
Suggestions: - start with slower/weaker monsters - make it more obvious that the player can move (maybe allow arrow keys besides wasd)
Game also doesn't load here. Firefox 105.0.1 (64-bit), Windows 10 21H2.
Very neat take on the theme! Love the look and feel of the game! (very machiney, so to speak)
I think it gets too hard too fast (at least it does for me).
The difficulty stems from having to both figure new stuff out AND move quickly to fulfill orders - I'm not sure that's intentional, as the author you don't need to figure stuff out so it might seem too easy.
I guess having more than one life would help with learning the ropes (more chances to mess up while experimenting).
Nice idea, either I didn't understand how matching works or there are bugs in the match detection code - a lot of times, I couldn't select the tiles I needed to move to form a match.
Quite fun when I managed to create matches!
@shiiro-10psi not really, I tried selecting tiles which could have formed a straight line of three or more if moved to an adjacent location. They were unselectable about half the time.
Great idea, nice implementation, I wish that the meaning of the colors was available (or one click away).
Awesome! First game that was easy enough for me to win quickly, almost everything else I played was way, way too hard or had a steep difficulty slope.
Loved the concept and the graphics!
Unforgiving, yet fun. Third level was too hard for me :-)
Loved the atmosphere and sounds. Very cool game!
Loved it! Everything was done well, gameplay, graphics, audio, story are all great.
Also like the story very much, it's rare to see so much polish in a game made in such a short time!
Fun game! Loved the voice acting :-)
Very nice idea, I initially had some trouble placing cards (not clear which card is selected, or what gets placed).
Don't forget to rate other games to get more ratings.
Nice game, would have liked a bit more depth/enemies/elements on map. Could evolve into a torchlight/diablo clicker :-)
Please rate others to get more people to play your game and rate it. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/games/zero/all is a good place to start (it's the list of people without ratings).
Hello there, great job!
Nice concept and execution, tough but fair :-p (actually, a bit too tough for me).
Don't forget to rate games to get more ratings!
Very, very nice! One of my favorites!
Please develop this into a full game!
I did run into a bug - after killing all the ghosts, it kept increasing the level (no new ghosts generated?)
Nice and original game, gets a bit hard though :-)
Loved graphics & audio!
This is great! I keep coming back to it :-)
Very original (granted, I don't play rhythm games) and very nicely done! Have to practice my rhythm skills, though :-)
Awesome!
Hello there, very nice game!
Maybe you should mention that the clouds are dragged & dropped with the mouse, I kept clicking and nothing happened :-)
For me, this would make a great commute game if you developed it further!
This is an amazing game! A bit hard to figure out (some simpler levels in the beginning would help, but I know, game jam time limits...), but awesome.
Please rate other people to get more ratings: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/games/zero/all is a good place to start (it's the list of people with zero ratings, it's also good to leave them a comment to tell them to rate others)
Fun idea and game, awesome graphics and audio!
Game was too hard for me though, I can't get past the first wave. I do realize pacing/balancing is tough in a game jam :-)
Awesome, but hard :-)
Powerups would make a great addition.
Very nicely done all around, loved the graphics and sound.
Very nice idea and implementation!
I had trouble matching letters with words though - are the words supposed to be English words or is there some reference I'm missing? I matched a T between a R and an E, is RTE supposed to be a word?
Sometimes I would get stuck with one letter and one word and the letter didn't match :-)
I guess the procedural level generation could use some improvements. I'd try something like this (this is probably similar to what you did, I'm also aware that this being a game jam procedural stuff is tough to get right)
- place the word blocks; - place the car blocks; - remove blocks until the map is sufficiently connected/disconnected; - place the middle letters in crates accessible from the areas where the player is; - place some random letters in crates.
"Sufficiently connected/disconnected" - you could break the map in 2x2 or 3x3 blocks and isolate the blocks with walls (cars) and doors (words). Place the keys (middle letters) in blocks on both sides of doors.
Fog: it would be nice if it would progress in a mono-dimensional manner, a la FTL. Maybe you already did this, I was quite busy trying to figure out words to also figure out the way the fog works.
Movement should be more fluid IMO: rounded corners/colliders for corners, pushing into the edge of the road should also let you progress, but slower etc.
Again, this is a very nice game, would love to play a more developed version.
This is a great game!
Loved the art and mechanic. I think this would be great on mobile!
Hello there, great game and AWESOME art!
I keep being amazed at what people can do in such a short time, but yours is probably one of my top three games for this jam!
Hello there, this game was too hard for me! I couldn't get past the first critter. I really did try for a while, as I found the idea interesting and the graphics and audio very nice. Well done, just make it easier it the beginning :-)
Don't forget to rate others to get more people to play and rate your game. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/games/zero/all is a good place to start (it's the list of games without ratings).
Loved it! Maybe add an easier level? :-)
Please don't forget to rate other games to get ratings yourself!
Very, very good game!
The levels were a bit random in difficulty after the first two, but still great fun. I would make it a little more forgiving by adding lives :-) and/or powerups. I'd also make the fast pieces (rook, queen, bishop) skip some turns, also to make it easier (you could make them skip less turns as the score goes up). Yeah, my reflexes aren't very good :-) - but your game still feels great.
I just love the minimalism of the game and how much fun it is!
Fun game, well done!
Possible improvements: make the path a little longer, add some "snakes and ladders" type jumps back and forth, and let it end once a player gets past the end (otherwise it is a bit boring at the end IMHO). Maybe put more things in the tiles and let the user choose what to use (and using the ability from the tile consumes it)?
To get more ratings, please rate others: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/games/danger/all
Hello there!
Great idea!
Some things I missed:
* better feedback for what is going on (what phase this is, what can I do right now) * more enemies/action?
To make the UI easier to parse I think you could add some panels for the various sections, along with a some "tutorial" type pointers on what to do (e.g. when the towers can be placed, show a big arrow pointing at them, then when a tower is picked up highlight somehow the tiles where the tower can be placed).
I think the mechanic would be easier/faster to explore in a 2d game.
Hello guys,
interesting idea, but the actual game is way, way too hard (my reflexes aren't the best, but still).
What I'd do different: list the ingredients at the bottom of the screen, the craft key automatically picks a recipe if possible.
Tweak: almost anything is a recipe, longer recipes give stronger powerups, there is a tension between waiting for more ingredients or crafting something *NOW*.
The list of ingredients could also be a shield: when you get hit, you lose ingredients first.
Please rate others to get more people to play your game and rate it. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/games/zero/all is a good place to start (it's the list of people without ratings).
Hands down the best game of the jam yet!
Much more fun than I expected! Good job!
Not sure if/how to prevent card spamming - maybe slower pace and more card variation?
Also, you should try to rate games from the "Danger" list - this will in turn get you more ratings.
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/games/danger/all
Very nice concept, good job.
Don't forget to rate other games to get more ratings!
Thoroughly creepy and weird, well done!
Suggestion: a bit more feedback (sound?) when you pick up the cube would be nice.
This is such a nice game. Lots of fun, lots of content, lots of laughs.
Nice game, I wish there was a bit more visual feedback when doing things (especially harvesting and watering).
Loved the music :-)
Nice idea and good implementation, especially if you're new to Unity! Also nice to see a fellow user of Kenney's assets :-D
Would have liked more tracks and maybe a way to program the car ("right, wait 0.5 seconds, down" etc.) I think this could turn into a nice "learn to code" game for kids :-)
Please rate others to get more people to play your game and rate it. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/games/zero/all is a good place to start (it's the list of people without ratings)
Very neat game!
More than one life would be nice, though :-)
Don't forget rating other games to get more ratings!
Interesting idea, nice implementation, awesome graphics! The controls are a bit awkward, though.
Loved the credits :-)
Hello @cowa, @Sholf, @brandann, thank you for the kind words!
@Sholf, I opted out of graphics because they are not mine - they are from kenney.nl.
@brandann, will look for the bug you mentioned.
@Sholf, @brandann, true, it would be nice to be able to pick the swapped tile. One hint: the automatic system picks the biggest match (or one of them if they are many). So you can aim for that (4 match is preferred over 3 match etc.) to try and control what gets swapped.
Thanks again for the nice feedback!
Hello @le-slo, thanks for the kind words. About the sounds: there are sounds, there's a toggle on the main menu. Unfortunately, I think it is off by default.
Hello @jcwelgemoed , @pomb , @Maytch ,
Thanks for the kind words! @Maytch , you have to enable sound on the main screen (I made a coding mistake and the sound is off by default).
Hello @theArtifacts , thanks!
Will take a look at your game sometime tomorrow!
@jk5000 , @Tuomo , thanks!
I was afraid people will have trouble figuring out what they need to do - lucky for me, it seems they figure it out with a bit of patience and then they have fun. I probably need to add some kind of tutorial instead of the info screens (or at least choose a friendlier font for the info screens), but the time was too short for that.
The swap is chosen from possible swaps by the "most tiles matched" criteria (e.g. 4-tile matches beat 3-tile matches, 2 3-tile matches beat 4-tile and 5-tile matches etc.). But if you have several tied swaps one is chosen at random, which generates less than pleasant surprises sometimes.
@Random-storykeeper , that's quite an in-depth review, thank you so much!
About the unwanted cards: it picks at random from a deck! Honest! :-) But I know, sometimes it's annoying.
There's a "new hand" card (the second from the left), which replaces all the movement cards (it keeps the special cards). Careful, it has a 3 matches (or one life lost) cooldown before you can use it again.
Hello @Sapazu , thank you for the kind words, glad you liked the game!
Thank you, @Malmevik !
Hello @Dovakla , thanks for the kind words!
About the title, guess it's a bit of a quick (30 seconds or so) mix between "magic the gathering" and the 3 in match-3 :-)
Hello @cincodenada ,
thank you for your review, glad you liked the game. The sounds were quickly made with bfxr, it's true they could have been much better.
Very fun game, a very pleasant surprise. I would like to see the idea developed further.
There is a bug at the end of the game, the button to go back to the menu doesn't work very well for me (I press it several times, sometimes it works in the end, sometimes I need to restart the game process).
Don't forget to rate other games to get more ratings! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/games/zero/all is a good place to start (it's the list of games without ratings).
