LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Nuclear blaze by deepnight 2021-04-29T11:20:51Z

Really interesting mechanics. I love the look of the game, and the way the world is uncovered as the player moves deeper into the level, and the little speech bubbles making me want to go deeper. Would have been awesome to be able to have checkpoints without restarting the whole level though (or a way to rollback death)! Also, great integration of the credits in the level. Overall incredibly well done for a compo!

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-04-29T12:04:09Z

Amazing game! A lot of thought has been put into it, it really shows. Finished in 31:15!

Deep in hell by katamary 2021-05-01T09:16:57Z

Art and music on point, the mood is incredible. Tried the game twice, and I reached the end twice at the blood beach, not sure is there are other endings but the other comments seem to suggest so (I feel like I can go deeper in the story). Also, caught a few typos.

Anyway, not a big fan of visual novels but this one is really well made and I did not see time pass. Good job!

Codename::GreyHat by Train27 2021-04-29T09:32:57Z

The idea is interesting, and I think it would have been a great game if it were to have had a more intuitive and overall less frustrating interface. The detective part of the game is good though :)

LOOP NOIR by g11 2021-04-30T10:43:12Z

Interesting idea, really reminded me of Inception. The old times private investigator vibes mixed with more modern artifacts (computers) really gives an interesting mood! Loved how the music changes smoothly between levels as well.

It is very buggy though, sometimes the camera glitched out and I had to restart the game. Also, is there a reason why the flashlight shuts down once dropped, and it is not possible to light it up again (leaving us in the dark)?

Anyway, you should develop the game further, there is something unique about it!

Depths of the Library by Klaus Peter 2021-05-02T09:24:45Z

Fun game! Finished at 1 heart after something like 10 or 15 tries :) Funny ending as well.

Difficulty is fine as I died most of the time at around 75%, thanks to the progress indicator in the corner. So I knew I could win (otherwise I would have probably bailed).

You should probably include the controls in the game intro (and/or during gameplay). At first I missed the fact that you could left click to hit the spiders, which made the game way more difficult than it needed to be (but that's on me).

By the way, it doesn't work with adblockers because of a file named `hitbox.js` which is blocked. I think renaming the file should be enough to make it work.

Also, why can't I rate you on mood, graphics, etc?

River, Carry Me Away by Noire 2021-04-30T13:58:13Z

Not sure this qualifies as a game (not in the common sense I guess), but I really enjoyed this soothing experience. I wish it were a bit longer! Great entry.

Selkö by Doot 2021-04-29T18:42:48Z

Very nice game, I enjoyed it throughout! Made me almost forget I was in front of my computer :)

Untitled Simulator by Eugenik 2021-04-29T10:52:32Z

This was a disturbingly soothing game. I even got to learn a thing or two!

Blackout by Frasse 2021-04-29T16:42:01Z

Everything about this game is great. Had a very good time playing it, it is very polished!

LD49 — Unstable

Stay Away! by exilegl 2021-10-05T15:27:34Z

That is a fun game! Assets are cute, they make up a coherent universe. Nice music as well. Visual effects look good too! I won after 4 trials, dying on the 10th or 11th wave.

The gameplay kind of reminds me of our submission for the previous jam (Dante's Harvest, you can find it on my profile), but you managed to make it way more balanced than ours :)

Only downside I see is that sometimes the character gets stuck, I don't really understand why. After a second I can move again.

Nice job overall!

The Blue Bedroom by SplitPainter 2021-10-07T18:58:54Z

Very interesting take on the theme, I enjoyed this game!

Red Flag (Le Temps des Tempêtes) by Achiru 2021-10-05T21:06:39Z

@ollieoa Thank you for the feedback! We just made the seagull hitbox bigger in v1.2 :)

@alpharock6 We are considering making the game open source. The code is not very pretty though...

We have reduced the game objective from 30 to 25 ships in v1.2.

Red Flag (Le Temps des Tempêtes) by Achiru 2021-10-09T12:02:17Z

The original version of the game with bugfixes only has been uploaded (v1.0-bugfixed). The web version is still v1.3.

Red Flag (Le Temps des Tempêtes) by Achiru 2021-10-13T12:40:10Z

@keith-wang We thought knowing the exact destination of the cannon ball would make the game too easy. As there is little to no shoot cooldown, you can adjust your shot very quickly to balance the lack of trajectory hint. Maybe we should add an easy mode with this feature :)

Unstable Patrol by Jin9310 2021-10-12T22:07:37Z

Interesting concept and great graphics.

Funny that the music contrasts a lot with the game objective, as I could not really feel the tension of the bombs on the verge of exploding. I also had an experience similar to @sakura-magika, did you want to add something on the right of the starting point?

With that said, I think it has potential to be a great game though, good job :)

Drop vs Planties by Vivien Fargette 2021-10-05T16:15:50Z

Nice graphics, music and concept.

However, how to get back to the unstable form is not clear. Is it after a cooldown? If so, an indicator could be helpful :) Also, I sometimes get stuck off screen with no way of getting back to the current "room".

If these issues were to be fixed, I'm sure I could enjoy this game a lot more! Nice job.

Sugar Fever by Cain Sanches 2021-10-12T22:27:23Z

Pretty good for a first game! The (very) saturated colors are justified by the candy environment, although the connection to the theme is very loose. Nice idea to slowly become a gummy bear, maybe try to add a way to reverse the transformation and maybe slow you down or make you sticky when you are "gummy"?

WildGuess by Rashid 2021-10-05T17:04:51Z

Interesting idea, nice execution!

Diamonds in the Rough by animawish 2021-10-12T22:43:23Z

I like the visual style! Lacks audio (even simple sound effects would do), but the core idea is well implemented. After winning (I think I won? I'm not certain) my screen flashes quickly and then the game screen becomes black and unresponsive. Is this expected?

Diamonds in the Rough by animawish 2021-10-13T12:24:19Z

@animawish Well I ran the love script on Linux using love2d v11.3. I played with the classic deck. Today it does not crash every time (it happens when big bombs explode AFAICT). According to the logs it's a problem with my graphics driver (amdgpu)... If no one else reports such a problem I don't think you have to worry about it :)

Anyway, having played a bit more now, I start to get the hang of it! It's a really fun game actually. Not totally deterministic, as I sometimes have to do some guessing, but I try to strategically choose my cards! Nice thing that you implemented different game modes, it definitely makes the game more interesting. Good job!

Where's My Tripod? by Pixelydian 2021-10-05T21:17:46Z

This game is amazing! The idea is very simple, yet incredibly well executed and effective.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Abysmall by Wakobu 2022-04-16T16:40:48Z

@ciderpunk @lpettler The bug is now fixed. Products are now reset properly. Thanks for the feedback! I added a changelog on the itch.io page.

@hmightypirate Thanks for reporting the bug, we will look into it. It may be related to the fixed bug. Could you try to reproduce it and tell us under which conditions it happened? Thanks!

@dingdingding Thanks for your feedback! Indeed the game is very easy. We wanted to create bigger and harder levels but did not get to it!

Sickly Victorian Boy by CSdoesCS 2022-04-07T20:32:54Z

I like the idea, simple but effective! Art style is on point, lovely 2d assets in a 3d world have something very charming. Also nice music which sets in the game's atmosphere.

I had some performance issues on my computer though. I don't have a discrete graphics card so the game ran around ~10fps. I'm not sure if your engine would allow you to make it run better though. Also, if possible, please make the game available on other platforms or as a web version! As a workaround I used Wine to run it on Linux, but this does not always work well with all games.

Anyway, this game really stands out, I liked it a lot! Great job from both creators!

Gladiatorus by Pepper Boi 2022-04-17T20:38:59Z

I liked the responsiveness of the controls. Tried singleplayer only though, I could not get multiplayer to work (on a single machine).

It would definitely be interesting to have a goal, know where we are across waves of enemies, how many are left. Also the green elements (lifebar, happy face) are pretty dark, maybe try to make them lighter?

Nice entry, interesting ideas, good job!

Cloud Surrounded Fate by Noh 2022-04-07T19:50:59Z

Death is inevitable and the fight for life is hard! I found my best strategy was to go straight left while jumping and spam the X key, hoping the platform catches me, which gets me around 20 to 25s... But I know that is not how the game is supposed to be played. I really like the art, it feels cohesive, pico8 is a tool I should try using at some point. Nice entry!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Time Surge 3: A Giant Leap Too Far by HitchH1k3r 2022-10-17T21:19:23Z

Love the universe you went with! It fits the gameplay very well, especially being able to spacewalk between platforms. For me the main difficulty was to understand how the mechanics worked: how to open doors, and realize that I could shoot in 8 and not 4 directions (especially when the character only has 4 animated directions). Music is kinda goofy but it fits the general aesthetic. Well done!

LD54 — Limited Space

Silicon Boulevard 2 - No Space to Kill by David Mason 2023-10-10T21:12:46Z

Cool idea, kinda similar to ours, where the protagonist tries to solve a case by managing their limited memory.

Things you could improve:

- The barely legible font + small UI in fullscreen - Buggy hitboxes and movement (I got stuck in the walls multiple times)

Things I especially liked:

- The mood and audio with the simple but effective pixel art, they make for a coherent experience! - The memorable weird characters

Overall enjoyable submission, even though I could not go far in the story. Good job!

Up To The Top by slumbgod 2023-10-15T19:57:06Z

Simple but cute game, more levels (or randomly generated ones) would have been great :)

LD59 — Signal

Traincidents by YellowKamel 2026-05-04T21:07:31Z

I won!! Loved the voice acting and gameplay! Also really funny that you have to actively engage with the tutorial and if you ignore it you get yelled at :) It was sometimes a little stressful, but you know the good kind of stressful when you have to manage a thousand things at once, because the game is well balanced and forgiving. Good difficulty increments too!

can u talk? by The Big Lost 2026-04-21T16:01:45Z

Quick but lovely game! I like the atmosphere and the controls feel snappy. Sometimes it felt like a puzzle game, trying to find the best path to the next checkpoint just in time.

At first I couldn't go through the first corridor because the bar was depleting too fast. After locking my screen at 60fps it was playable (be careful to use delta when tweening in your process function, don't assume the framerate will always be 60fps!)

Other than that, the Linux build works fine.

Good job overall!
