LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Antlerman by Jiri_One 2018-12-06T17:36:36Z

The idea is cool and the graphics and audio are good but the levels feels unbalanced: you spawn with many enemies really near so it is a challenge to survive them and then you just run in a nearly empty map.

I think that if you fix this problem of spawn/rest of the map, you can have a great game

Mission to Io by DeathBySnail 2018-12-04T18:58:33Z

I was not expecting much of this game as it is not my favorite style but it blew up on me: the music and the good storyline caught me into the game. I played it only once so I did not notice a huge relation with the theme but I will come back to play to see a maximum of ending and what sacrifice I made during this first try. Good job

Final Flight of STS Recovery by masterkrepta 2018-12-09T20:45:50Z

Mostly same as said above: a bit more speed and the ability to shoot where the mouse is would be nice. Cool overall

Can't Get No Sacrifaction by Pennycook 2018-12-07T09:38:49Z

The game is cool, I loved the intro. The gun is a bit overpowered compared to the sword, maybe decrease the attack speed (or increase the sword's attack speed and its range so that you can hit without being hit a bit more easily) would make the choice between the 2 a bit more difficult. Also, the speed sacrifice lead to an ackward situation where I had 3 enemies standing up on my head that I couldn't touch (they didn't hit me either except for when the first one got on my head) and I couldn't make them move as I had sacrificed all my speed.

Overall, it's a great game :)

Castle Defense by tgiant 2018-12-07T08:02:36Z

Cool game overall with good graphics and gameplay.

Some few ideas to improve it: * the waves begin before you end the previous one, maybe make each wave a bit harder but make them begin clearly separately * the upgrade of the castle is a double click on the upgrade and not a drag and drop, update the tip when the castle upgrade is selected * maybe make a way to destroy turret you have built: some places are strategic and you want to place your best turret and, once you placed your archers here you at the beginning, you can't change it (alternatively, you can tell the player that turrets placed can not be changed) * on the victory screen, it told me I could try again to see how far I can make but I already made it to the end, that's a bit odd ^^

good job overall :)

Void Light by nusan 2018-12-05T16:14:08Z

Great sounds and graphics even if the light was hurting a the eye when it was too much in front of the camera

Lab Animals by skiddings 2018-12-10T09:05:55Z

As said above, the health regen is a bit overpowered and the unlimited ammo a bit underpowered. That aside, the game is really cool and I loved the visual effects

Sacrifices must be made by mobiledev 2018-12-06T19:27:09Z

Pros: * graphics are cool, especially human characters (player and NPC's) * the idea is nice

Cons: * a background music would have been really cool * waves are pretty easy and a bit repetitive once you have understand how the ennemy work and find the avenue: maybe make more type of enemies or make them go a bit faster so that you don't have to just walk on the avenue back and forth to win the level. I stopped at wave 4 so maybe it get ore difficult later, in that case, I think you should advance them (maybe keep the first for a tutorial) * maybe it is just for me but when I pressed space, my screen scrolled down so I could not see the top of my screen (if you know how to disable that, I would like to hear it)

I hope I wasn't too harsh on my comment, and that my feedback will help you :)

Demon Rabbit Solitaire by eva 2018-12-05T16:25:52Z

Nice graphics, simple to understand but difficult avoid mistakes. Only down side is that you can not change your choice of card to put on the board once you have clicked it.

Abraham's Sacrificial Rampage by Gnarly Narwhal 2018-12-05T09:06:38Z

As said above, the fireballs are hard to avoid but the game overall is really fun with a nice design (I loved the floating babies). The random spawn avoided a feeling of deja vu wich is nice and kept me feeling as I played for the first time every time I tried to get a better score

Oh my Cultist by KawaiiNeko 2018-12-06T13:33:05Z

Nice visuals and mechanic can be improved by adding a negtive conterpart to sacrificing: I just played as when I had less than 3 blood I sacrificed, when I had more, I summoned a 3 power monster so that is a bit repetitive when you want to play more than once. Well done overall :)

Price of Power by Hilvon 2018-12-05T12:27:08Z

As said above, really hard to understand at first but really good once you understand the game. Really good work on the balance of the game and the mechanics but I would have prefer a limited amount of cards (no shuffle: once a card is used, you cant have it again) to up the challenge (maybe make two differents modes: one with a shuffle, one without but with more card to begin with) Congrats overall

Ethic in the machine by Toulou 2018-12-10T20:29:20Z

The concept is good and the storytelling is great (even if it is a bit short). The lack of music is not that impactful (which is rare enough to be pointed out).

Two minor problems: * when enabling the fast text, the game directly send me to the question without letting me check the rest of the station * when checking the station, the text is mixing itself with stats. I don't know if it is intended but it is a bit confusing: the first time I played, it asked me the question while I was checking the station resources and I did not notice the question (I thought it was just some random text to let me know the IA was deteriorating) and I was not able to go back with enter (as the game was expecting my anwer). So, if it is intended, try to make it a bit clearer that the IA is deteriorating (maybe with the wake up message being more and more bugged).

Excellent job overall, I loved the game

Domino Sanctus Spiritus by shiitman 2018-12-05T16:55:45Z

Your graphics and audio are really cool :)

For the concept, I didn't really understand: I played some cards without really knowing what I was doing and won. The winning screen is not really clear, I thought it was som kind of transition to another level.

The Forgotten Four by Finn Truman 2018-12-05T22:18:35Z

Awesome game, the story is simple but efficient, the ennemies are various, the music is good and the sacrifices are hard to decide. Maybe an help with what will sacrificed characters will provide, especially around the archer as one of his ability need the reduce armor to be applied but can not apply it by himself.

Big big fan of your game :)

Sacré Bleu by resivium 2018-12-05T17:32:37Z

Nice game, puzzles are not too easy but not too difficult (even if I admit that I found the last one by pure luck ^^). Really good job overall :)

DoomCamp by nathaliekill 2018-12-04T14:06:05Z

Impressive game for a game made in 3 days. The only downsite woudld be the lack of music. I encoutered a small bug : when I slide the food to the maximum, it tells me that I have 14+ days left and when I go to the minimum, 3 days left. Congrats about this game :)

Cultist Crusade by NoNiMad 2018-12-04T11:52:50Z

Great game, I enjoyed it overall. The game would be even better if there was more sounds

Limbs are Limited! by EggshellDog 2018-12-04T17:53:00Z

Really great game with a really good learning curve. I would just say that the last level feels a bit managed by luck as you need to have a good position but maybe I am just lacking skills xD

An Fhicheall Mhór (Grand Chess) by Artur Hawkwing 2018-12-05T09:27:09Z

Pretty cool game with a great concept. I would just point out that, at the beginning of a level, it can be hard to select the piece you want to move and the indicator of the pawn is a bit confusing (his "normal" moves are not in red like all the other pieces). Also, a replay button would be a great feature instead of exiting then launch again. I could not hear the music as I am not in a place where I can havve the audio on but I'll test it back later to note the sound. The commentary can seems a bit harsh and I am sorry if so because it is not what I intended: I really enjoyed the game overall and really loved the idea of a RPG-Chess * EDIT for the sound: the looping moment isn't always really smooth but a good sound overall

Cultists vs Demons by Hairic 2018-12-05T20:04:36Z

Really cool game: various ennemies, great combat system and I loved the design. As said above, a minimap and a music would have make it even better.

My only downsite (the word is too strongly negative for what I mean but I cen't find another, sorry :/) would be that sacrificing people from your kind does not seem to have any consequences so you have no regret sacrificing them to heal yourself (and, as there are many of them, you can even save some of them)

But congrats for the game, I really enjoyed playing it

Fighting Souls by RAFFE 2018-12-09T21:03:30Z

Really nice, I loved the humor (especially on the dab).

As advices: * if you can turn the camera around, why not allow player to use w and s? * maybe balance a bit: the ennemies seemed hard to kill (without sacrificing a character) and the end boss can be one shot (yes by sacrificing one of your agent but as it is the boss, you do not care).

Hope my feedbacks helps, really good job from you overall :)

Dev Jam by Fahrenheit459 2018-12-05T16:43:55Z

Plus: Really great concept, amazing arts and good music.

Cons: Sometimes it is hard to see a difference between the core system and bugs, a more different design for one of them could help. Also, it is hard to find bugs in time, maybe a longer timer or making spawn more bugs (even if it would be against the lore) would help

Overall: a great game with a nice concept

GameJam Sacrifices by playball 2018-12-06T21:38:54Z

Great game overall but, on my second game, I lost with nothing at zero (I was close but not at zero) so I wonder if it is what is intended, if it is because I took too much coffee or a bug?

Aside from that, the game is cool with nice interactions (I hate the cat ^^) and great graphics. Maybe an indicator to show the time remaining to end the game would be nice: the day/night cycle help but on the last day, it is impossible to know how much we have

good job :)

Bloodless by Wojciech Bruski 2018-12-06T17:55:04Z

The intro is incredible, the audio is great and the concept is really cool. You should just let the player choose when the tutorial go away: I forgot to chage my keyboard in QWERTY and when I came back, I had to leave the game and rewatch the intro (not so long and great so not that bad ^^)

Of Cows And Peasants by aplite 2018-12-05T15:50:17Z

Nice little game, really intuitive and fun. With a background music, it would make it even greater.

Only down side would be the difference of difficulty passed a certain leve: the game goes from easy to really hard so maybe making one or two intermdiate level would smooth the transition.

Great job overall

Death Wish by Derek Volker 2018-12-06T18:28:30Z

Everything I have to say has already been said, even the fact that I can't get passed level 2 ^^

Great job :)

Not Me! by Gio- 2018-12-07T07:29:41Z

Nice game, I loved the humor on the description and the concept. Nice use of the theme. Maybe try to add a way to restart from the level you just lost and not from the beginning. good work :)

The lesser teeth, the better you'll breathe by Atelier Duchu 2018-12-05T17:13:41Z

Plus: * Nice concept * good visual and audio * pretty fun to play.

Cons: * You can easily miss the first sacrifice as it does not wait for your input and shows on a pretty short time so you don't know what is your new input. * The game is ultra punishing: you take one obstacle, you loose a teeth and, once you have lost one, you can lose some even if you make a perfect run: maybe with a slight time before the wave begin to chase you again would fix this last one

Overall: Pretty cool but somtimes frustrating (when you make a perfect run but lose)

ChosenProtector by Suchista 2018-12-05T12:35:15Z

really hard game but really enjoyable overall with a nice music and mechanics. As said above, a description of the different towers would have been nice but you make mistake only once

Cheela by Shakedimus 2018-12-13T20:41:20Z

A visual feedback to know which unit you have selected would be a nice addition: right now, you don't really know if you have selected them or not, especially when you just click to select one.

Maybe show the life on the different units, many times I did not understood why my unit died while it had a better attack than the enemey (and they spawned around the same time) so showing the life would be a nice addition

The RNG at the beginning is frustrating as hell: how do I do when my 4 units I begin with have around 50 when the enemy has 3 around 70 and 1 around 50?

Finally, the art and the audio were not great (for the music, quickly repetitive) and you notice it even faster than usual as you quickly focus on the game's downsides.

On a brighter note, the idea is interesting and could lead to a cool game.

Overall, it is not a great game but RTS are really difficult type of game to create and you did a good job doing one in such short time. I think if you can adjust with all the feedbacks you reveived, it can be a cool game.

Bob the Reaper by FlashViper 2018-12-07T08:33:59Z

Nice idea. I think that the reaper form should not be killed by obstacles (but still could not pass through them, that would be too easy) that kill you in human form: you already sacrifice you health when you are in this form. Other ideas were already given, especially by Lyrcaxis

Fight For Your Light by Raivk 2018-12-06T10:14:31Z

Cool game with great graphics and music. I think that an aim that would be the same for the 2 click would be better: it is rare that 2 enemies are exactly at the exact places of the 2 cursors and the 2 cursors felt like it was only to point the area where the shoot could go (so you had to place the enemy you aim at the center).

Overall, I liked the concept of a light that is everything (your health, you money, ...) and, once again, I loved the graphics and music

Dark Villagers by AwiX 2018-12-07T08:48:13Z

Hard to understand at first, I think a tutorial would help a lot. Once you have understand how it works, the game is really interesting and challenging, you have to manage your population well. Really good work :)

Lanternal : A Mage’s Sacrifice by Liz Cooper-G4G 2018-12-11T21:01:22Z

Really nice entry with amazing arts and music. As said above, it would have benn even better if more of the difficulty increase came from sacrifice. Also, adding a best score feature would be cool. You made an amazing job

The Awful adventures of Awful Dave in Awful 3D World by Captain Tyx 2018-12-06T10:27:38Z

The quit button stayed in the middle of the screen when I clicked on the "how to play" button (making me leave the game when I just wanted to exit the option :'( ) but that's not really important

The game is fun with nice graphics and animations. I just did not really know when I was hitting or not: I was spamming the left click and somtimes it did not attack, even if I attacked a long time ago. With that problem, I did not go really far (as I was mostly running away from enemies and try to hit them once then repeat ^^) into the game but it was enjoyable overall. Good job :)

Reactor Overdrive by JUSTCAMH 2018-12-13T20:16:55Z

a small tutorial would be a good addition and I'd say the music is a bit repetitive but I know the sound is pretty difficult to make.

Pretty cool game once you have understand how it works :)

HSMC Arena by MrGrimace 2018-12-04T03:22:04Z

I was a great time developping this game and I hope you will enjoy it even more

HSMC Arena by MrGrimace 2018-12-04T13:48:22Z

@pierkwadrat , @econgamer, @goldranger we have fixed the bug about WASD moves and there is a windows build if you prefer at the bottom of the itch.io page

HSMC Arena by MrGrimace 2018-12-05T17:45:24Z

HSMC Arena by MrGrimace 2018-12-06T07:06:50Z

@norb we wanted to make multiple types of ennemies but lacked the time to implement it but I like the idea of a multiplayer coop but maybe the map would be a bit small for that.

@artur-hawkwing in fact, minotaurs come in waves with a time between them but one wave do not spawn immediateley: there is a maximum number of enemies on screen and when you kill one, another one spawn. We did this because, when you make them all spawn at the same time, you can quickly accumulate them in a pck that you just have to shoot while walking away from them. But I agree that the first part of a wave is quite difficult so spacing their spawn a bit more can be a good idea.

For both: glad you enjoyed it :)

HSMC Arena by MrGrimace 2018-12-07T08:15:09Z

@luis-guariglia , @jlv , none of us had problems with the arrows on webGL (we tried on Firefox and Chrome), do you use one of them or another navigator? Maybe try with the build if it really does not work on all navigators.

to @jlv , for the abilities, it's for the theme, you can use you abilities but have to sacrifice your stats for that. The idea is that you have to use them only if needed but maybe it would have been better to put shorter cooldowns as it already punish you with your stats. Anyways, thanks for your feedbacks :)

HSMC Arena by MrGrimace 2018-12-09T19:59:54Z

@meldrian I am sorry to hear about your bug, it would seem the HTML version has a bug about controls that I can not recreate (it works for me on all my navigators). Maybe if you try the Windows build version (if you are on Windows)you will be able to play without bugs. Anyways, thanks for the feedback :)

@pennycook First, thanks for the feedback. We did not think about a visual feedback on the Minotaurs when they are hit: there is a sound but it might not be enough so I like the idea of a visual feedback. We'll think about this feature for a later patch (after the Ludum)

HSMC Arena by MrGrimace 2018-12-10T08:45:29Z

@masterkrepta Thanks for the feedback, we know the camera has some problems near the bottom of the level but lacked the time to correct it

@ursagames thanks, I watched a bit of your test and I really don't know what made the bug about the shoot not following the mouse.

@raffe thanks :)

HSMC Arena by MrGrimace 2018-12-10T20:33:51Z

@toulou we came with the idea that, instead of the waves being harder and harder, it would always be the same wave and the player become weaker and weaker. The difficulty curve is indeed too steep but we lacked the time to fully balance the wave to be difficult enough to force the player to use his abilities (to not let continue to infinity without sacrificing anything) but easy enough so that the player can feel the curve. Sorry about that but thanks for the feedback and glad you enjoyed it :)

Death Metal Crowd Pusher by WizardOfOzzy 2018-12-07T07:46:37Z

I played it with @mrgrimace but forgot to rate it with my account so here I am. You already discussed with him the idea of the multikill and, since then, I thought about a ranking system where you enter your name and it shows where you place (a local rating is easier but force the players to play on the same computer to compare but a global ranking is harder to implement and require a server). I think that could be cool to make a bit of competition between friends :)

About the game, I loved the musics, the graphics (especially the band) and the game is fun

DEFEND THE CASTLE by Crazybot 2018-12-05T10:05:06Z

Nice game with great graphics. The highscore worked fine for me even when I left/came back. I would just say that the different buttons are a bit hard to see/read as they are dark on a dark background (when I first read the how to play, I did not find the button to go back to the menu for example) so maybe try to make the a bit brighter and it will be great :) I can not rate the audio yet as I am not in an envirenment where I can activate it but I'll come back to give feedbacks on it :) * EDIT for the audio: a background music would have been nice but great sound effect

Welcome to the North Pole! by fre 2018-12-13T21:01:48Z

Loved the game, the art is simple but really nice, the music is cool and the cconcept is great. Only downside is for the doors opening (as already said in some previous comments) as it not really clear what you have to do to open it (you understand quickly but it can still be frustrating to not know what to do) and the separation in two is quite unconfortable (when you change side, you change the one who is in the center, to make snowman, especially at the end, it is quite difficult when you manipulate 4 snowballs to make 2 snowmen, ...)

Great job overall :)

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Block Runner 2049 by LandoSystems 2020-10-07T17:41:14Z

Very nice tetris remix. I loved the design and the remixed music. I don't see the game fitting into the theme but I enjoyed playing it (this 'some blocks disappear' mechanics really add some fun strategy and planning to come back from it). Bonus points for the leaderboard

a nice place by netmute 2020-10-06T08:33:32Z

Only one negative point: please don't make me enter a building from below to find myself at the top once in :sob: Other than that, the story is pretty cool (but, just like the other, I want more of it  ) and I loved the atmosphere

Rail Gun by jharler 2020-10-05T18:13:13Z

Really nice to see multiple levels and clear tutorial. And the game is fun to play even if it sometime feels a bit long to wait to get to the good angle to shoot (but I am being picky here, it is really cool)

Dino Chomp by diaonic 2020-10-05T17:58:42Z

Really fun game, awesome work for a compo as you have cool graphics, really nice music and nice and innovative gameplay. If I was picky, I would say that the world rotation could be smoothed and that wall jump seems kind of random (but I might also have failed to understand it xD) but I really enjoyed this. Congrats

Chronolings by edomiyamoto 2020-10-06T13:25:39Z

Took me a while to understand the mechanics but fun game once you get it (I agree with lamossus on the tutorial part and the prices tho: not everyone will try multiple times and read comments in order to play).

It is a bit too reliant on click and the game would be more interesting with a regular fixed income on each farm in my opinion: it would force you to think more about the organization of your town instead of putting one wood farm and spam clicking it until you get cannons.

With that said, music was really cool and it is a really good result for a jam and can develop into a really fun game if you continue working on it after ludum

Time Raider by Almax 2020-10-07T20:21:43Z

Really nice game, I was really surprised not having a dash until I unlocked it :p

In my opinion, starting the first run with more time would make the game more fun: after my 2 or 3 first runs, I found myself going straight forward just to get the bonus (which only become a time bonus after you collect them all: +1 on that part) and get a decent time bank and then started to play again.

Overall I really enjoyed playing the game, I like the small bonus after each room and the different kind of enemies. And you have really cool arts

Time Raider by Almax 2020-10-07T21:10:24Z

@almax the mini boss is really good idea for the treasure and a better option than just giving more time bank.

As for all roguelike, I don't think being able to finish the game on the first run is a bad thing (but it should be hard) but overall I agree that treasure should be earned. Maybe going kinda like Isaac where you don't have time back but are locked in the room until you cleared it would be a solution

Space Martine by saymon 2020-10-06T12:56:15Z

The art and music are cool. Took me damn long to understand there were no AI and that the green player wasn't moving because there were no input given: maybe a "control" screen would have help also to easily find player 2 controls (especially for shoot and bonus weapons) but once I found everything, the game was really nice to play

Torus Tours by Jack Lance 2020-10-21T12:58:45Z

that's a great entry: it's a really creative take on the theme, the puzzles are hard but really satisfying to solve. Maybe "blocking" the sides of the maps when those just lead you to die would be nice as it can be a bit frustrating to have to restart all the level because you went a bit too far (it was not a big issue here but if you plan to develop it more and you begin to have really long levels, it can become one imo)

Overall, it is a fun puzzle game, it deserve more recognitions

Hyperloop by R3L0ad1 2020-10-09T16:04:19Z

That game was fun but I have no idea how these scores are possible, my best try in hard was at around 40 seconds and I was proud of myself before coming to the comment section :p As a detail, I would say that movements should be more responsive (less transition from one lane to another) at it was a bit frustrating from time to time but this is not really a big deal as overall the game is really good with nice graphics and audio (not really my favourite genre but it fits the game quite well) and fun gameplay

Regicide by homeworld 2020-10-07T08:47:14Z

Solid entry overall, concept is well in the theme. I would add a background music (a well chosen one could really make the game better, I would say one similar to what is used in movies when the situation is tense) and I would make the crouching a toggle given that I crouched a lot (when going through crops, having to maintain ctrl was a bit annoying, not a huge problem but it could be an improvement). Other than that, really nice design and the game is fun so I enjoyed it

The Deja Brew by drprettypatty 2020-10-09T09:10:09Z

Nice game, I enjoyed the story and the drunken guy fall. As said above, the controls could have been better: while a point& click would do the trick, simply making a & d translating left and right instead of just turning and q and e to rotate would make the controls much more intuitive in my opinion. I admit I wouldn't have succeeded without the hints but the puzzle was well done and I liked the graphics and music

TRAM OF WISHES by katamary 2020-10-09T18:35:49Z

The art and the mood of this game are gorgeous even without understanding a word of the intro (subtitles would be a nice addition). One question tho: when you have fulfilled the wishes of everyone and end the day, the something happening last forever or is there an ending point to reach? If it is the first option, I think you should let the player know that there is nothing more, if it is the latter, maybe make it shorter.

Anyway, I really loved the game visually, music is really nice and I got attached to the characters I was transporting :D Please add some levels post jam <3

TRAM OF WISHES by katamary 2020-10-09T19:13:33Z

@maliyshock yes, I did that, my question was more for once you finish this new ride on what happen next (don't want to spoil as I found it lovely so that's why I am a bit vague but tell me if I am too vague)

Mad Wheel : Furry Maxster by squirrelsoft 2020-10-08T12:51:08Z

Nice wheel and take on the theme. The game could use a more fluid turning wheel. Putting the controls easily visible would help (and you have space to put them on top left or top right of the screen). Other than that, I enjoyed it as it is quite creative and humourus

Troubleshooter: A Drag and Drop Adventure by Phlip45 2020-10-08T10:02:46Z

The game is fun, I like the voice acting (but why not auto play it with the ability to skip tho?).

I think keeping objects once you have used them would be better as it is kind of boring having to restart the day by going to different rooms just to get the objects back(it feels like artificially trying to make the game longer in my opinion) but that is a detail. Even smaller detail because only people who will limit test will go through this: you should lock the ability to take an object that you already have in inventory to avoid having 10 flamethrowers in it.

Overall enjoyable experience with the righting pulling up the gameplay: more variety in cards and more complex problems would upgrade the game but it's easier said than done, especially with the time limit of the game jam and you have a really good start: I would like to see it developed more after the jam

Suit Loop by Greytyphoon 2020-10-12T20:00:04Z

Pretty fun to play, I like the strategy needed in the game. Maybe a visual indication on where the joker will be next could help as I had to come back to the rules often (especially at the beginning) to check which was doing what but I don't know how much it would impact the game by making it easier tho. As a jam game, I think it could use a bit of background music but it does not really impact anything. Weak link to the theme but very fun and innovative game

Are We There Yet? by JudgeZedd 2020-10-07T16:32:06Z

Awesome writing and voice acting xD simple but fun gameplay even if I didn't find the controls really intuitive. I loved it (and only got a 16k bill, that's fair for some hollidays :p)

Roundabout Way by Quandtm 2020-10-07T18:29:32Z

I drive through Place de l'Etoile in Paris, you thought this would be a challenge? :p

Very fun game: good graphics, great music and perfectly fits in the theme. Only complaint would be that it's a bit short: it would gain to have multiples levels (but I understand it easier said than done, especially with limited time during the jam). Overall, it's a really good game

Ouroboros: The Cursed Hero by LERPish 2020-10-07T19:53:36Z

That was some epic intro :D

For the game itself, it is fun but lacking some elements: a visual feedback on hit and on enemy death would be nice (instead of just them disappearing), the boss lacked pattern and his only one was quite obvious and increasing the difficulty of the level after each loop would have been better in my opinion (the best would be with more type of enemies but at least with a greater number of enemies at least). The second level also felt really similar to the first one with just less enemies.

On more positive note: the graphics are cool and the music is great, I liked the character dashing a lot through enemies giving some kind of "feeling of power". Overall a nice entry: I enjoyed playing it and would love to see the results if you continue working on it after the jam

Active Cell by Jonas Michael 2020-10-06T21:30:47Z

I love these kind of games, got stuck level 7 but will definitively come back to finish it :p

Loopy Train - by Boby4458 2020-10-06T16:29:18Z

Concept is really cool and I love the graphics and how you used the theme but the game is frustrating: it is really slow to gain money and so to build your train, gattling tower does not kill enemies before you are out of their range while being really expensive. I would make everything cheaper and buff the turrets a bit (or nerf enemies). You should also opt out of Audio as your game does'nt have any (a background music + some sound effects would add a lot tho). Anyway, you have a pretty good game that only need some balance (easier said than done I admit) to be really entertaining

ronron Therapy by Redunca 2020-10-06T17:38:20Z

I agree a lot with Iron Leonem's comment so I will avoid going further into the theme of the game aside from reiterating that I hope that you will continue to try to touch people on important subjects like these with you games.

On the gameplay side, I wonder, was there a way to win against the bully or was it just made to delay the loss? When typing, a feedback about succeeding or missing would have been nice and a way to correct (with backspace for example) would have been nice. Other than that, it is pretty nice to play.

I really loved the art and music of the game and overall it is a good game.

A Night Around the Fire by arron-fowler 2020-10-11T10:53:27Z

Really nice mood in this game. I liked that the character had to search for a hideout and could still be killed while doing so: it force you to analyse your environment while looking for enemies instead of just the latter. I would say that, while nice and fitting the experience, the music was a bit repetitive in my opinion, a longer loop would be better (but already a good job for a jam). Having the distance ran always visible would be a nice addition too instead of just showing it at the end. I really enjoyed the experience during these 473 meters (but I swear I thought it was more :p)

Seeker by NateTheGreat 2020-10-06T14:19:13Z

Only found 4 endings that were quite easy to find and have no clue on how to get the other endings but my bet is more on me being really bad at these kind of games that on the game being too hard (even if I would prefer the latter :p). I have seen some interesting puzzles: I love the whistling and blocks that opens doors when stepping on them (even if I did not always find the related door)

Sushi Scramble by Ranjan 2020-10-06T09:16:50Z

I really love the take on the theme with the sushi (I'm not gonna lie, I came because of the title :p) As said above, the hitbox can be hard to understand and I sometimes "left the loop" by going to the floor (especially when staying near the middle). Maybe some kind of score for how "far" you travel on the carousel would add a goal to the game and avoid the strategy of just getting in the middle and not moving for the rest of the game. Other than that, the game has a really nice music and a pretty cool graphics (i love the little face on your sushi)

Stuck in the Clock by Aaronacus 2020-10-09T19:05:20Z

Pretty innovative entry: the mechanics is quite interesting. As said above, more randomness would add to the variety of the game. I also had a bug that sometimes, I touched the yellow gear but had no sounds nor did it begin to turn but still went to next level (I haven't found a pattern to reproduce the bug, sorry about that). I also found the warp effect a bit hurtful to the eye when happening multiple times in a raw (maybe having a cooldown on it would be better but that is something every player will fill differently so hard to give a real solution). Pretty nice graphics and cool music tho and I liked the attention to details

MonkeyVM by abvadabra 2020-10-08T15:32:39Z

GIVE ME THE SOLUTION FOR 3-4 :'( otherwise really great: puzzle are well designed and mechanics easy to understand. Letting the user know that you can delete a single instruction with right click might have saved me a lot of time instead of resetting every time but I am being picky. Congrats on this game, can't wait for more puzzles :p

MonkeyVM by abvadabra 2020-10-08T15:46:30Z

@znw Thank you so much!! It was the only one I was missing :p once again congrats on your great job

Hamsta's Paradise by brookman 2020-10-10T15:29:33Z

I must admit I am impressed with the result: it does not feel like something made in 72 hours. There are amazing graphics, really cool music and damn hard levels. I am not a big fan of how the rotation is handled as I find it quite frustrating: sometimes you turn really slow and suddenly you turned 180 but, other than that (and that known bug about getting stuck), the game is really fun to play and challenging. I also loved the details such as the drifting wheel when turning really fast

The Forest Maze by Dongle 2020-10-10T10:18:47Z

These graphics are amazing! Here are some of my ideas to improve the game (please continue it after the jam, I want to play more of it): * The first shot you make always go above the worms, not a big deal but an unnecessary thing the player has to take into account so correcting it to directly shoot in the targeted direction * Adding a small time of invincibility after being hit would make the game less punitive (especially when there are a lot of enemies) * Make checkpoints: the fall into the pit animation with the eyes was cool but having to see it again every time I died was a bit long * A background music would really add to the mood of the game (even if it already nice) * I think making the worms fall into the pit should be a viable strategy for the game and not a way to make it harder. Maybe allowing shooting while moving would be another option to make the gameplay less frustrating

Overall, the game is really nice and a great result for a jam: I had a lot of fun playing it and, as I said, I would love to try a more complete post jam version :D

Creed by dimlight 2020-10-06T09:38:58Z

Hard to understand but fun to play: I didn't always understand why I unlocked the new room or what I was supposed to do in the room but the mechanics are fun (especially with the small coloured characters). Music is cool and graphics are really great. Overall a game that could be more user friendly but really cool and fun to play (I enjoyed playing even without understanding what was happening :p)

Time Loop by _Kassjak_ 2020-10-10T13:57:06Z

Pretty addictive game I must say. I still have difficulty understanding when you take damage from the rolling enemies and when were extra lives spawning but it did not impact the fun I had playing. I think a tutorial explaining how these mechanic works would be a nice addition as I don't think the first screen explain those very well (it does for the movements but not for the other things).

Other than that, the difficulty curve is quite well implemented and the visual are nice, good game overall

Recurring Detective by RedGuyFromHell 2020-10-09T21:09:35Z

I don4t usually do that but I am gonna go into a pro/cons list as I have a lot to say

Pros * Really nice art * Dialogue system is quite advanced for a jam result * Story based game: I love story based games and it had a good start * Nice music and really good mood * I loved the animation in the street, it make the city alive

Cons: * Pressing 'e' during a dialogue restarted the dialogue, in my opinion, having 'e' make you go at the end of the current line and then start next line would be the best option * Dialogues that were talking about things I had not done yet ("he is lying" while I didn't talk to the "he") * The last text that I had difficulties reading before going back at the start (and the phrase seems to not finish) * If you accord importance to the theme, I don't think it really fits into it: it feels more like"start a new game" than "stuck in a loop". Having a small intro or final phrase explaining why you come back at the start would do the trick tho and it goes into having a more in depth story (which is hard in jams)

Overall, it's not a bad game but clearly needs a lot of polishing and more development and has a lot of potential. For a first jam, it is quite a good result and you just learned the most important rule of jams: don't aim too high ;) Congrats on your results anyway and I hope you will continue to develop this game, I am pretty sure it will be fun to play once finished :D

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-05T18:16:28Z

@lamasaurus @thulium-games thanks for the feedback and sorry about that, it has been renamed to work accordingly

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-05T18:17:36Z

@meemog thank you for your feedback, is the bug due to the "_Data" folder or is it another one?

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-05T18:43:16Z

@lamasaurus thanks, indeed starting from the middle might have been a good idea. Also, maybe try using the bonus a bit more to see another layer of the story ;)

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-05T19:04:21Z

@meemog the bug is fixed now if you want to try again :)

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-06T07:16:54Z

@netmute What is your os? I can try to get you a build but I can't guarantee it will be working as we develop nor test for other os than windows

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-06T08:11:48Z

@netmute added a Mac build, I hope it work (please let me know if it doesn't) and that you will enjoy the game

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-06T08:42:02Z

@netmute glad it worked and thank you for your dedication to trying our game :p

@cookienoir glad you enjoyed it. We didn't find the bee shooting from the back uncomfortable and that's why we kept it that way but maybe we tested it too much so we did not realize its downside, thank for the feedback :)

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-06T12:07:06Z

@frederik-boye Thank you for this feedback, especially about the mic. You get it about the powerup: it is kind of getting in the loop of drug where the more you use it, the more you need to take it to get a shorter effect every time and we could improve the cooldown information indeed.

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-06T13:18:20Z

@loligxp thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it :) we took note for the pop filter and will use one next time ;)

We did not find the bullet too small as we made them small on purpose but we'll make them bigger next time :)

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-07T08:39:05Z

@kassie-kitsune glad you enjoyed it, on the stinger, we didn't notice during development but we'll learn from that one ^^ About your edit, I am sure @laurent will be pleased and, from now on will become annoying, often reminding us how is voice is pleasing :p

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-07T20:14:26Z

@jharler sorry about the projectile, we got that feedback a lot and will surely adjust that later on. On the collision, I checked and the hitbox don't match perfectly, not on the projectile but on the enemies, that's on me, my bad. Thank you for your feedback

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-07T21:46:35Z

@alexascher You still have the nectar to help you beat the waves ;)

@fermingimpel Fair point on both takes: the shot is a recurrent feedback we got and you just made me notice the escape menu: we made the buttons of the main menu bigger because of that but forgot about the escape menu :'(

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-08T08:51:41Z

@eden-shazar please don't remind @laurent of his voice, I want to be able to live in peace :'( Thank you for the feedback tho and yeah, we'll make the shots bigger after the jam :)

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-08T19:35:01Z

@robowarrior1982 I get what you felt about this one: we had lines to match up with the "state" of Lily (roughly the number of time she used nectar) but it is true that, if you don't use it, this line comes back every cutscene. We decided to still use this system as it is a way to enforce the "fall" of Lily

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-08T21:10:41Z

@beefbone we thought the changing Lily's sprite and background going darker were enough of a feedback: the idea of the nectar is kind of an allegory to the "loop of drug usage": the first time(s) you use it, you don't realize that there are negative effects but the more you use it, the more you will need to take and the effect will be shorter. Once you are deep down in this loop, you might realize the negative effects but you need it to go on. That's why, it is not clear at first sight that the nectar has negative effects.

As for the shot, it is too small indeed: I use a "nocturn luminosity" quite high on my screen that made the bullet quite clear when I tested the game and I forgot to turn it off to test, lesson learned and I will turn it off for my next jam xD

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-09T08:17:37Z

@epb9000 I added a Linux build to the itch.io page. Could you tell me if it is working or not, to know if I should keep it and announce it on this page or if I should remove it please?

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-09T17:13:33Z

@shaolin-dave thanks for the feedback, do you mind if I link to your post for Mac builds in description?

As for the narrative, we thought addiction is a vicious circle that fits well into the "stuck in a loop" theme so we went on with it.

Lily The Bee by Vivien Fargette 2020-10-10T15:28:03Z

@coderaurus it wasn't part of the soundtrack. As for the nectar, well you don't need to use bonuses while they are not necessary, especially given the outcome of this one ;)

HONK II by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-10-10T13:35:50Z

It is a very cool game, I especially enjoyed the soundtrack and the mood of the game.

As it is not a type of game I am familiar with, I will say that your shots bouncing on the wall were fun when there were a lot of space but often made me feel like someone was shooting at me when in close corridors (but maybe, with more experience of these type of games, it will not be as disturbing as there is quite a difference between friendly and enemy fire.

A small improvement would be a sound when your weapon is empty as watching the UI can be hard in intense action moments to know how much bullets you have left and another would be to have the weapons wheel fully turn (ie when switching to next weapon at grenade launcher, getting the machine gun instead of having to scroll the entire wheel in the "previous weapon" order to do so).

I still had a bunch of fun playing the game so congrats on this entry :)

Lily Pad Drifters by bernard-bumblebutt 2020-10-08T20:16:25Z

The game is pretty fun without the "stay in place, you die" mechanics but I think you should say on the page that you removed this from the game: in my opinion it changes quite dramatically the feeling of the game as it should have been quite a frustrating mechanic to deal with.

About the game, using hearts for the number of level you cleared is weird (even if I get what they represent): I was wondering why my 5 lives were never used and why I was dying instantly (understood it after finishing level 1 tho) and I agree with comments saying that the intuitive throw of the frog would be to continue from the spinning movement instead of her direction but I got used to it.

Overall, the game is hard but fun once you get used to the throw, I love the humour of the game and the audio (both voice acting and background music)

Divine Drifter by Enzar17 2020-10-08T09:00:11Z

Graphics and audio are so cool! I would have liked a bit more variety in gameplay (maybe some kind of figures you could do to score points, not sure how it would integrate) but it is still pretty fun to play. I had a hard time getting to the exit but seeing no one complaining about it make me think I am just bad :p I liked the radio parts and bonus point for the ranking

LoopBots by Empty Set 2020-10-09T15:09:08Z

Pretty fun game overall. I am gonna jump into the discussion about the time limit: I agree with honey-pony that it is not necessary. In my opinion, it is a way to artificially add some difficulty where you can make a strong game without it with a stronger level design: a good puzzle without time limit is better than a less good one with time limit. For example, in the level 3, making a way for a bot to replenish energy without dying after 3 loop is quite interesting to do, even without time limit. That said, I understand that the jam limited time restrict the level design, especially when working alone, but it would be a nice modification post jam. And to be clear, your level design is pretty good already and my ideas here are only my opinion on how to improve it

Aside from that subject, graphics were nice, audio too and a big +1 for the tutorial that was really well done and very clear so congrats for this entry

VINYLED by Kamuniaft 2020-10-09T09:41:22Z

That was really fun to play. As said above, the "switch vinyl" is quite hard to spot but, once you get it, add a nice variation to the theme. The curving line make it harder to spot what is coming to your line but it adds a bit of challenge so I liked it. Adding something saying how long you have to survive until the end of the level would be a nice addition in my opinion: dying without knowing if I was close from the end of the track or not was quite frustrating.Really nice graphics and cool music, it's a pretty nice entry overall

Fire Loop by Kevin Meissner 2020-10-06T16:52:38Z

Really nice game with beautiful graphics and nice mechanics. Two things tho: you had a nice background music in the menu, why not continue it in game? The sound of enemies is quite repetitive and, as it is the only sound present with the fireball one, it becomes quickly annoying. Second, the AI is quite easy to make a fool of once you get the pattern so I think adding a few obstacles to make the game harder for the player than just running in circles and sending fireballs from time to time. Overall, I enjoyed playing this game and it could be really nice to update it after the jam to make it even more enjoyable

Looping by guimoliveira 2020-10-10T16:07:42Z

Cool concept and innovative entry. Quite impressive for something done alone from scratch.

Few negative point that are not major but could be improve: * some levels are won by doing a pixel perfect action which is, in my opinion, a bad way of making it difficult, especially given the number of good puzzles you had already in. * when passing through a door, going back through it take you back at the last "big" checkpoint which is a bit harsh in my opinion and not a lot of fun as you already know how to solve the puzzles, just coming back to the last screen would be a better option (same goes for going back multiple levels when failing one) --> this one is quite a big issue in my opinion as it is really frustrating but it can easily be solved * the transition screen that is the cause of the warning could be less aggressive

Overall, quite a unique entry (at least from what I have played until now) that can be quite frustration (these doors! :p) but nice puzzle game. Congrats, especially on the level design: while some aren't that good, most of them are pretty well thought with a good learning curve.

EDIT and PS at the same time: you should opt out of audio given that you used external assets for background music (even if your sound effects are good)

Break The Loop by Meemog 2020-10-05T18:28:29Z

I agree with the post above about the spawn where you quickly feels overwhelmed by enemies, maybe with a larger playing field, it would be better. Other than that, the game is pretty cool visually, has nice gameplay and I really like the music (even if it isn't being rated, I like the choice)

Epsilon - 2D Atmospheric Platformer by Sherwin Claridge 2020-10-10T12:37:37Z

Really nice mood and audio. The jetpack could use a bit of improvement as it did not feel reliable to use and it could be a bit quicker to repair the suit.I loved the ending and the theme integration , good job overall

Hamster LOOP by Scintillae_Creations 2020-10-06T10:15:29Z

The game is fun even if I didn't get what was the evil worm as I stayed mostly near the ground to collect seeds and avoid enemy projectiles. About the music, the loop is too short so the music quickly feels repetitive in my opinion. As for gameplay, it is fun, maybe changing the spin of the wheel according to the direction you are running would have added a bit to the gameplay and I sometimes did not understand why the shop was coming but these are minor things and I enjoyed the game. Overall fun game (I loved the ending :p) and congrats for that one :D

Arthur Fisher Intelligence by Teto 2020-10-07T15:15:13Z

Nice puzzle game with very solid level design.

As said above, there is too much text: it is nice to have some to explain the mechanics or introduce a new block but explaining every time the situation, the goal, what you are building... is a bit too much. I also agree on the "one item to complete level" from Jelle: making more is just waiting for your loop to repeat while doing nothing and it can be quite boring (the third level is my main example of that: you have to wait a very long time, I almost thought the game was bugged due to the time I had to wait before it completed the level). Finally, a background music and some sound effect would have been a nice touch to give the feeling of a completed game.

Overall, these critics are more on the detail side as it is a pretty solid entry: level design and mechanics are solid, graphics are cool and I liked some of the jokes of the robot

Frozen Potency by Eugenik 2020-10-06T21:47:08Z

game is quite nice but I wouldn't be against some increasing difficulty as it get quite repetitive over time. The world ranking gives a nice competitive side to the game.

Never End by Finn_Tr 2020-10-11T07:10:06Z

Really nice game with a really deep mood. Here are some of my ideas for improvement:

* Controls aren't super intuitive as it is usually more Shift for dash and, while space is quite usual for jump, having W too would make the use of up dash more natural in my opinion). * Wall jump should be faster as using it almost means getting caught and reduce the variety in strategies to clear the level (as the optimal one is to go on top and take the keys from top to bottom) * Small speedrunner addition: having a timer would be fun for speedruns. * A small tutorial would be really helpful, especially for the dash as I don't think I am the only one to have not notice it could go 8 directions * A gameplay idea not everyone will agree with but having dash allowing you to go through an enemy without dying could be a nice mechanic addition but it would need to balance the game again as it could make it too easy in current form

I loved the visuals and the gameplay and I agree with previous comments saying you can come up with a great indie game with this style on steam (and I would buy it).

Danger Beat by rhoff95 2020-10-06T15:34:26Z

I love the game, great take on the theme. All the ideas that I have to improve it have already been said: a mouse control and some better feedback when being hit (I have difficulty finding ideas about this one, I think a visual one would be the best way to integrate it without messing up with the game). Overall, an outstanding game (also, can we get the music finished, I will never be able to finish the game, even at 90 bpm, I am far too bad, maybe at 10 bpm I could succeed but then the music wont feel the same :p)

Dr. Needles and the Nightclub by funemaker 2020-10-07T12:27:07Z

Really nice graphics and pretty cool music, as said in other comments, the game could use some hints to make it feels more like a game. Giving the ability to sprint would also add to the game as I felt th character was kind of slow (maybe at the expense of the venom killing you faster to compensate for being able to find your cousin faster by sprinting). I really liked the small details such as the character going greener as he becomes more infected and nice voice acting

Overrun by GameDevMatt 2020-10-08T12:16:12Z

Nice music, cool graphics and fun gameplay :D I found two downside: one is about the health and weapon charge it took me some time to realize it was there due to not being in my first line of sight and even after that, I felt having it on screen wasn't optimal as it hid the enemies at the top. Maybe putting on the glass (like at the top right and top left, around the spawn point) would make it more visible. Also, the red colour for the gun bonus made me think it was a malus at first so maybe a more "friendly" colour would be better. Overall it's pretty fun and I love the voice line at the end, congrats

Loopfield by MikoziQ 2020-10-06T17:09:10Z

Pretty nice entry you got here: nice mechanics, simple but good graphics with clear visual on "good one" versus "bad ones". I would just say that having music in game instead of just in the main menu would have been nice. Also, are there winning conditions?(to know if winning was impossible or if I am just too bad :p)

Grotinger by RizekCajk 2020-10-07T17:23:14Z

that was a loooot of fun :D pixel art and audio are fine, level design is great. A bit too much 'spamming z' so could be adapted to have less of that but I am being picky. Really nice entry :)

Tower of Time by CodeRaurus 2020-10-10T12:49:39Z

For a first game jam, that's a really cool result. The game is quite fun to play even if the "multiple jumps" bug is quite annoying as it is hard to get a grasp at how it works. I also think that the small delay before changing direction (or stop moving) was quite annoying and was an unnecessary difficulty that was more frustrating than fun. Overall, I enjoyed the game (didn't manage to beat it tho, the red part is damn too fast for me) with nice audio and graphics

EDIT: I managed to beat it!

Welcome to Station Alpha by Theo Ratkin 2020-10-08T11:11:51Z

Really nice music and graphics. The story was a bit short but nice. On my first try, I got thrown out of the metro tho (I was standing at the end of the last wagon and suddenly, the metro was continuing without me, so I think it's a collider issue where I was ejected from the train because of that). The game would gain from more depth in gameplay (but it goes with a longer story) but the idea is nice and perfectly fit the theme

Welcome to Station Alpha by Theo Ratkin 2020-10-08T14:46:32Z

@theogen np, I said it more to let you know about the issue than to criticize, I explored a bit for two stations and then restarted the game :p. A way to "patch" the bug would be to let the player go back on the station ground when he is on the rails as I could not climb back at the extremities (it would be best to not have the bug but it could be a temporary solution)

Return 0; by IkerNoya 2020-10-08T17:56:13Z

Wasn't able to beat the game but attended the boss fight, it's pretty fun to play.

Few ideas/criticism I got would be that it really needs a UI to tell how much health you have left (and one for enemies, especially the boss would be nice too). A visual feedback when hitting enemies/getting hit would also be valuable to the game. Finally, a detail that was weird to me was the arrangement of the doors: I go to the door at the right of the room and go out at the right of another or I enter from a door, go out through the same door and enter another room (the boss). This last one really not a big deal and I am being picky but I think having a kind of logic behind door usage is a nice detail to have.

Overall, the game is pretty fun and have really nice music and graphics and I would like to see more levels of this (maybe after the jam, if you continue working on it ;))

Also, side note to @shyrro, you can switch between AZERTY and QWERTY with "alt + shift", it is really helpful in ludum as only AZERTY users think about developing for AZERTY keyboards :p

Blasted Isle by StinkoSupreme 2020-10-08T12:39:08Z

Pretty cool entry: nice music, cool graphics and well in the theme. As said above, having shoot on left click would be more intuitive and the fighting part could use a bit more variety and difficulty (more boss pattern, cooldown on knife throws, more type of enemies in between boss fights...). I don't know if it is intended but you can get one loop point by going straight down at the start to "close the door" and trigger the boss fight. The game is really nice overall, I enjoyed playing it especially the "dodge the canon ball" parts :)

Gravitron by HGgamer 2020-10-08T17:37:56Z

Really nice concept. As said above, the movements were a bit strange at first but I find you get used to it and the text depends on your position to the sign which made one bit of text go out of the screen (not a huge problem tho). While super useful, the ticking sound was kind of annoying after a while as it is the only sound you hear so I think adding a background music would help softening it. Overall, it was fun to play and the mechanic of gravity quite interesting, I liked it

Temporarium by Eden Shazar 2020-10-07T16:12:41Z

The game is really cool, it took me some time to get how it worked but once I got it, it was fun.

I would say I don't think the game needs a UI or visual indicator specifically to be more clear but a small tutorial or an intro explaining things would do the trick: you have the indicator of your lupul with the fact that it does not carry anything or is carrying the glowing one (maybe for your current egg). Some music and sound effects would have been a nice thing to add (but be careful with sound effect: with 3 lupuls on screen and given how often they die, it could become very annoying quickly).

It clearly needs some polish (and an end) but it is a really fun entry, I just want more levels now :p

Kill Me Plenty by Blood_Jackal23 2020-10-06T20:02:49Z

Fun game but a bit short. The respawn point could appear only once you die first (I thought you could interact with them at first) and a clean tutorial could make it easier to understand. With that said, the concept has a lot of potential and I would love to see it grow into a full game as I had fun playing this demo.

Stuck on the Train by Conneli 2020-10-08T19:43:10Z

I couldn't finish the game so I watched the video for the end. The game has a really good mood, nice graphics and music. Text after giving an item were quite hard to read sometimes so I ended up with an item I didn't really know what to do with (but this could be "overrun" by talking to each NPC hoping to find the one at the price of succeeding the current run :p). Overall, I enjoyed playing the game, it was fun learning run after run

2-KLN by Frederik Boye 2020-10-06T12:31:40Z

The game is really fun to play. As said in other comments, splats can be hard to notice sometimes but it was only a minor issue (and me not being good enough to spot them :p). Other than that, really nice music (I loved to see it speeding up with timer getting closer to 0) and I loved (and hated after I totally messed the house level 1) the fact that the mess you create on one round stays for the later rounds

DejaVu by StuxGeek 2020-10-11T06:10:17Z

Cool game, I really loved the graphics and the idea of repeating the same puzzle with one more thing to do. The game really need a checkpoint system as it is quite frustrating to have to restart from level 1 every time (especially given that you often lose your first try on a new puzzle) or to get rid of the timer (or as said in other comments, make it a counting timer to allow speedrun): puzzles are a challenge on their own and don't really need a timer to become one. The game would also gain from having sound: a background music would really add to the mood of the game and a effect could be use to give a feedback that the door opened (easier to do than a visual feedback). I got stuck in 3rd room :'( but I enjoyed it overall: it is fun and pleasing visually

Jessica Calls by yellowmoleproductions 2020-10-06T17:18:55Z

As said above, a bit too strict on the item selection period but otherwise quite a nice game. The game tends to become quite hard really quickly in my opinion but with a little balance (easier said than done and maybe I am just really bad so theres no need for that), it can turn into a really cool game

Minecart Dungeon by cyborgx7 2020-10-09T21:31:28Z

Overall it's a pretty nice entry with a fun implementation of the theme.

I have to agree that missclicking one of the switch could be quite frustrating but I don't think 'knowing in advance what switch does what' is the best solution as it can be quite hard to implement with a lot of switches but I am more aligned with the speed up button and/or the stop at every switch. A second type of action to do would have been a nice addition to make the puzzles more interesting (different type of switches or enemies would do in my opinion).

Overall, I have quite a positive impression of the game with simple but nice graphics and a fun gameplay most of the time. Good job :)

Retrospective by ilya096 2020-10-06T20:32:14Z

I rated the 1.0 version given that you added level to your v2 that shouldn't be considered toward the note of the jam but I'll give you feedback on the second given that you must have thought about the flaws about your first version.

Your idea is pretty cool and I really like how it fits into the theme. Your new levels really upgrade the game compared to the v1.0 which was not clear after the 1st level. One flaw that I noticed in both versions (but less impactful in the 2nd given that there are less death) is that, if you die, your next play will end at the frame you died, which make it impossible to repair a mistake without restarting the entire level. A small upgrade I thought of would be to allow the player to skip to the next iteration through a button instead of having to wait until the end of the countdown, it would make the game more dynamic. Finally, a background music and sound effect would be nice (on that note, you should opt out of audio rating).

I hope I wasn't too harsh in my comment because I liked your second version of the game: it has really cool graphics and an interesting gameplay and I think it has a lot of potential to grow so I encourage you to continue working on it after the jam :)

Retrospective by ilya096 2020-10-07T11:46:54Z

@heiden-bzr I didn't know about the fact that your 1.0 was made in 24hours and the 2.0 was the jam game so I'll adapt my notes accordingly

About the mechanics of saving your doubles, I didn't understand it like that but now it feels more interesting but can still be frustrating if you die really early (especially as you restart after your old you started moving) so maybe the ability to "erase" your last run if you died early, let's say in the 10 first frames, could be a cool upgrade

The Well Of Reality by Okean 2020-10-05T21:23:42Z

I would say there is a big difference between the two parts: hell is really fun to play while paradise is quite boring, I know it is a labyrinth but it feels like it lacks something (maybe a bit of action like small random games that would give a hint or some enemies, kind of like in a dungeon crawler). Other than that, it's really beautiful and music is cool. Overall a nice game, especially for one made alone

The Well Of Reality by Okean 2020-10-05T21:53:12Z

@okean oh, as you were the only account linked, I thought you were alone (you must be in jam if you import assets, even if you are alone) but nevertheless, the game is good

Mom! I've got a job! by Food Lovers 2020-10-07T13:05:39Z

As said above, really nice graphics but gameplay becomes quite boring when most of it is only walking the entire level again and again. Pretty cool audio tho (and cute F)

Anomaly by Mat Stevenson 2020-10-11T12:44:05Z

Very polished game with fun gameplay. I think the animation of the pulse should be done at constant time and not constant speed as it was quite long when far from the starting point, that would be my only downside to the game.

Now if you want to develop it further after the jam, I think having the ability to farm resources and not only fuel (maybe with a harder route to these) would add a bit more diversity to the gameplay (but being tight on resources add a nice stress to finish the run before you run out of resources so I like both ways). At least, adding a few other resources to collect would add a bit of variety. Also, adding more planet sprites would make the galaxy more interesting to explore (and would combine well with more resources)

Anyway, it was fun to play, with a nice music and I liked the graphics. Nice strategy game, congrats on the polishing, I especially liked having the cost in red if I couldn't pay it

LoopIn by Dani Tufeld 2020-10-10T14:50:48Z

Pretty fun overall but could use a bit of polishing: an ending screen after the last level would be nice as the octopus just got stuck into the treasure for the last level, I thought it was a but. The ability to move around the circle you currently are (with a and d or arrows) would add a bit of energy to the game as waiting for the opening to come back to you was sometimes a bit long when you miss it. Menu music was nice so it's a bit sad to not have it during the game.

Quite a nice result, I loved the graphics and you made a pretty good level design :D

Also, you can add your team members to the author of the game: it will allow them to rate other games to get a better smart balance ;)

Slime Panic by AlariannGames 2020-10-06T08:57:52Z

Really fun game with a good difficulty curve. Only negative would be that sound effect are too loud compare to background music in my opinion but it is only a minor issue. Very positive impression of the game

Crows of Wraeth by Roikku 2020-10-07T19:26:00Z

Really great concept and I love the art style.

In my opinion, the game could use a smoother transition when moving (the teleporting can be painful, especially when moving fast on a straight line) and a bit more indication about the balls and more enemies. A way to change the direction you are shooting (maybe with Q and E and map the next/previous element to 1 and 2 or Z and C) could help the fights to be more fluid because it is quite frustrating having the enemy in sight but not being able to shoot them because you didn't come from in front of them.

I really enjoyed the art and depth of gameplay with the elements and congrats on doing everything yourself (next step compo? :p)

Glowing Home by AlexTagtal 2020-10-06T08:17:36Z

As said above, a really nice game that can be frustrating from time to time. A way to switch normal/assisted without having to close and reopen the game would be nice as well as a quick restart in normal (even from beginning: it can be really frustrating to wait until the ball finish falling before being able to restart in normal). Other than that, I really enjoyed it in assisted mode: audio is cool and the game is nice visually

Dungeon Escape by Thorn 2020-10-08T10:29:32Z

Good choice of audio, I think it fits well with the rest of the game and I liked the art, especially the sliding animation. In my opinion, you should make the background go faster and speed up the run animation to give a better impression of speed and make the jump more responsive: it was really frustrating to press jump only to die because the animation was too slow to get you up there (especially as the slide is quite responsive, the comparison make it more frustrating). Congrats on this game anyway: it is quite pleasing overall

Cat Battle by Gero1234 2020-10-05T19:07:01Z

I have "The game is currently unavailable" when clicking the link (and maybe more info, a quick description or pitch might be good too).

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Robed Bird Reckoning by alexrose 2021-05-10T13:49:47Z

really nice art and audio. controls were really responsives once used to it (but putting the in game tutorial for controllers can be kinda disturbing, I kept mashing b on my keyboard in order to slow time but its not a big deal).

Only downside imo is that the checkpoints just respawn you when you die but do not reset the room: its not a big deal during the 1st half of the game but, once you unlock the weapon, it simplify the game a bit too much as you can just take jumps to kill enemies and, once cleared, go to the next CP (but I am also thankful it was here, otherwise I would not have been able to beat the game)

great entry overall, I had a fun time playing it

HELLEVATOR by pickens-inc 2021-04-27T15:01:19Z

damn that was fun :D

as said above, some sound effects are quite loud.

I think the game would work better in full screen: I lost many games cuz my mouse went out of the game and opened my internet browser. Sure that's on me not managing to keep my mouse within game screen but it can be easily avoided by putting the game fs.

Other than that, the game is really cool: nice graphics and background music, different type of enemies, ... I love it

Words Words Words by RandyTayler 2021-04-27T21:31:35Z

Im not that good with riddle so I was locked after (played 2-3 by getting the answer, 2-3 by pointing random elements until I found and then was locked). The game is pretty cool with nice graphics and sounds.

I had some difficulties pointing small objects like the apple or the bulb so increasing their hitboxes or making them move less would make the interaction easier (it was not laggy, just their movement resetted the focus)

Really original game and I loved the riddles even if im bad at it

Deeper Into Enemy Lines! by Ganny 2021-04-29T19:53:37Z

that was really fun, really well balanced and easy to get into. I often bought upgrades for many regiments instead of one cuz I did not unselect the other and I think it could be made clearer that you are buying for many regiments or limit to only buy for one regiment at a time (I would go toward the latter) but I am clearly nitpicking on this one: your game is great

Ant Town by Johnsensei 2021-04-27T17:04:35Z

this is quite a nice game but the unfinished aspect is felt: after reading the tutorial, I just dig in a straight line, moving by one on the side when there was a rock and built everything by this line. Obviously, your TODO list would solve that by not letting building be build on thin air but it kind of break the game currently.

Moreover, there seems to be no backside at "working for Antster" other than having 1 day going by and that kinda remove the money limitation. Maybe putting some kind of interest or an objective to fulfill within a few days but that would need to have more ways of getting money so I don't really have a good idea to improve that.

The game clearly has a good concept and the music is really cool. I clearly would like to see a finished version of it :D

Mined mines by Alexey Kuzovkov 2021-04-30T11:17:20Z

Most of my feedbacks will be similar to what have been said: it's a nice variant to minesweeper but revealing the numbers before digging and updating them on diffuse simplified the challenge a bit too much. The diffuse would also be more intuitive by being a toggle.

Overall, it's a good game that is a few upgrades away to being great! good job

The Icarus by PowerAnze 2021-04-29T07:42:26Z

you got a great writer as a partner, that story was really well written!

I think punishing the player a bit with hitting walls would have added to the immersion (which is already great): with the number of lives you put here, it might have been too punishing but adding a bit more health or making 2 or 3 hits before losing 1 life could do the trick imo.

anyways, congrats for this game, great experience

Dig the Onion by Vivien Fargette 2021-04-27T09:37:24Z

@herbyvor thanks for the feedback, I like the randomizing idea

@kudneus the best combo we found was doing 486 damage in one attack, the 5th level (3rd with all slots unlocked) is made for that combo but we did not want to make the game too hard for people who would not find it from the start so that's why there are 2 enemies you can one shot

@patomkin I agree that a preview of your damages would be a nice addition, thx for the feedback

Dig the Onion by Vivien Fargette 2021-04-28T13:47:17Z

@mira we went through quite a long brainstorming before finding that idea xD

6 Feet Under by theStoff 2021-04-30T09:00:00Z

sooooooooo cool! I love it so much! music is great, gameplay is unique and well done. I am currently blocked at the 2nd level of the 2nd are (when you start to add fire and bombs) and it can sometime be hard to distinguish which form you'll have in which area so differences between areas could be made clearer but that's the only little detail I noticed on this excellent game.

one of the best game Ive tried so far! congrats

Freefall by timujin 2021-05-16T18:51:24Z

Quite a fun game, as a lot of other comment pointed out, the level generation is pretty cool for replayability. I would give an easy start to get the hang of it to start the level tho (or a slower speed for the death from above) to let the player get a better grip on the gameplay. Good job overall

Into The Mind by CsOmega 2021-04-27T10:43:38Z

the game is really beautiful! great job with the art!

I will ask: is there a way to beat the game or is it endless? if so, a way of knowing how far you've progress would be a nice addition, else the lore in your description is a bit misleading (not a big deal tho). I got to around 2100 score and lost cuz it was too hard to see enemies then (too dark)

I would not limit the number of shots given that they are already long to charge, make you stop when shooting and you can not redirect the shoot and, in my opinion, these 3 constraint are already enough for the difficulty of the game.

A background music would be a nice addition but I know it can be difficult to find one during the jams

Overall, the game is cool, beautiful and well within the theme

Linguini's Adventure by Washington Irving 2021-04-27T08:33:54Z

Nice little game you made, I especially love the art style. The different weapons are cool even if the crossbow shoot is quite hard to master (but legitimate given that it can kill spiders before they spot you, could use a rework to make it less overpower but with a more intuitive shoot) I did not finish (what I think was) the last level after many attempts tho: using near pixel perfects jump when there is alread pressure from arrows and lava can be quite frustrating, especially given how far the respawn point is (maybe using a checkpoint for the end would do the trick) (or maybe I am just bad and that's just me :p dont consider this paragraph if Im the only one feeling that way ^^) I would make the music loop within a level: as I took some time to shoot spiders in big rooms, I spent about 2/3 of each levels without music

I might seem quite hard on my comments but don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed your game, it was fun to play with a really good atmosphere

ARTerial (the AI-generated art museum) by MEGA Marlon 2021-04-28T08:32:42Z

as said above, really cool work with the artworks!

I had a hard time placing paintings on the wall but other than that, it was quite an enjoyable experience.

Pressing T did not crash the game for me but pressing Q did (not a big deal tho, I pressed it to quit ^^)

Detective Insider by Fearawl 2021-04-29T17:19:56Z

great atmosphere! I was really into the game

As a few minor details, pressing control for too long (like 2 or 3 seconds) crashed the game (I know its not on your control list but when I saw I was crouching, I tried to use it to find some hidden objects) and, if you press escape, you cant go back to the game (you can either exit or go back to menu and it make you start all over again)

I really liked the evolution of the story and the puzzles to open the doors, they were well made. congrats

A Taste of the Past by Emily Pitcher 2021-04-28T18:17:25Z

really beautiful game! Amazing art, touching story, nice music, ...

If I had to nitpick, I would say the walking was a bit clunky and a bit slow. Maybe a few more frames to the animation and an little up to the speed would do the trick.

Congrats on this game, it's really touching and so relatable in how to cope with mourning. A wonderful entry

Dante's Refrigerator by josephdevelops 2021-04-30T11:59:14Z

The level design was really well done. I'll have mostly the same feedbacks that were already made:

- being able to swap mid action would be a nice addition - press a key to use the elevator instead of just running into it as you do not always want to use it - visual indicator for active character but I think it becomes less important if the switch can be done anytime as you know when you switch characters

Great game overall, the gameplay was really smooth aside from the switch and I really enjoyed the cutscenes

adventure of umesh by smiley405 2021-04-29T12:15:02Z

nearly everything I thought about the game have already been said: some nice mechanics, combat is a bit surprising but quite nice and enjoyable when you get used to it but the game really needs CP and the boss needs a health bar.

I was kind of sad there is only one level but that's a nice start. Also, good choice for the music

Sun Core by ZeroKun 2021-04-30T08:40:21Z

couldnt make it in time for the good ending :'( a timer to know how close you are from the good ending would be a nice addition. Great mood to the game with a nice choice of music fitting the game well

sub hunt by trixydevs 2021-04-28T14:41:52Z

Congrats on your first LD! As said above, nice job for a 1st jam, especially with the audio

The "how to play button" did not work for me (on browser, full screen). Not a big deal tho given it is really intuitive to play

I think giving the enemy the ability to shoot upward would be a nice addition: you are already trying to stay above them to shoot at them and, once your above, they cant touch you anymore. Moreover, I would add an invulnerability frame after being hit, especially for the last enemy where if he touches you once, you have lost cuz he sent so many torpidos.

I would not change the player way of shooting as I really enjoyed having to calculate where my torpido would land to hit the enemey tho, that was a fun mechanics

ROBOTIC A.M. by Zalos 2021-04-27T18:18:06Z

I did not understand everything that happened but it was relaxing and fun

A few more hints would be nice, I especially did not understand how to get rare items, I got one but I don't know how and why I wasn't able to build in the middle of my ship.

Allowing the player to destroy his buildings would be a nice addition in my opinion: when running out of materials, destroying a few turrets to build a container to gain 20 and reduce the fire consumption would add some depth to the gameplay

With that said, I really love the graphic style and the music of the game and the mood is great too

Deeper and Deeper in... The Case of the Cultish Karens! by CelestialPanda 2021-04-29T10:36:39Z

Really nice game! I love the graphic style.

After entering the second part, you should put a door if the player try to go back up the stairs as I felt into an infinite dark void (or put a way to go back to starting point). Also, when finding a proof, I think putting a different dialog line if you have already talked to the culprit would be a nice small addition (to avoid "I wonder who might have done that" while you already know what's happening, just lacking proofs).

With that said, nice work with the procedural generation and the story, I really enjoyed plyaing this

Adventure: Depths & Dangers by yulotomorrow 2021-04-28T09:39:40Z

I finished the game, it was quite nice, I loved the graphics and enjoyed the mini games.

As said above, some movements to the background during the sea diving part would make it feel more like a diving part and a sound on the use of a desk would be helpful as I did not noticed it worked at first (spammed e a few times before finding out)

The musics could use better looping time as it sometimes stop quite abruptly but they are really beautiful!

Congrats on your first game jam!

Baby Drill by aburron 2021-04-30T07:08:30Z

graphics are great and sound design is nice.

I did not manage to beat the game and, seeing other comments, I am not the only one but balancing the game is not easy, especially in a jam. The start button is hard to find at first (especially with the big "start" which looks like a button at the top of the screen) and overheat gets fast way too quickly imo: I would rely more on virus to shoot filling the overheat bar as more virus + the bar filling quicker makes a double punishment hard to manage.

Other than that, the concept is pretty cool and the game is fun. I enjoyed playing it

LD49 — Unstable

Uprooted by Zettelkasten 2021-10-05T15:59:16Z

That is a really nice game, very polished. I enjoyed the chill atmosphere and the pixel art.

As said above, the movements can be a bit awkward with two buttons input to move and a "undo" button would be a nice addition. I found the 8-10 levels harder than 11-15 but maybe that just me being dumb on 8-10 :p

overall, nice puzzle game

The Great Escape of Alim the Magnificent, as told by his aspirant by spawnie 2021-10-05T12:39:16Z

Nice game, quite fun to play.

Some few improvements ideas: - place the character a bit more at the back of the carriage because it sometimes block you targeting some close enemies - the text describing the potion can get in your way if you want to target air enemies (especially when they are coming fast), placing it at the top of the screen might be better - would be nice to be able to mixup more potions if you continue to work on it.

Pretty good job overall

Cheating Simulator: Unstable Relationships by kyboon 2021-10-07T08:18:42Z

Really fun take on the theme and that dance in the character selection is priceless xD. The love bar degrading a bit slower would be nice imo but that's a minor balancing issue (and it may be only me being bad).

Really nice game

Uns'Table by Bora Cun 2021-10-05T18:07:58Z

I could not get really far but I like the idea. Using clicks instead of trigger to show the command/give the command and a slightly higher player speed would be nice additions imo. Background music and SFX would be a valuable addition

The game need a few upgrades but I think you can easily transform it into quite a fun game
