Link doesn't work (404) :(
Amazing what you made on one weekend! I like the idea that you have to sacrifice money, actually really throwing it into the monster's faces. Also the art style is nice. However, I feel the controls are a bit clunky, and especially inside the buildings it is hard to navigate. Some feedback on damage to the monsters would be nice, I was wondering if I was even hitting them.
Pros: * graphics are cool, especially human characters (player and NPC's) * the idea is nice
Cons: * a background music would have been really cool * waves are pretty easy and a bit repetitive once you have understand how the ennemy work and find the avenue: maybe make more type of enemies or make them go a bit faster so that you don't have to just walk on the avenue back and forth to win the level. I stopped at wave 4 so maybe it get ore difficult later, in that case, I think you should advance them (maybe keep the first for a tutorial) * maybe it is just for me but when I pressed space, my screen scrolled down so I could not see the top of my screen (if you know how to disable that, I would like to hear it)
I hope I wasn't too harsh on my comment, and that my feedback will help you :)
Good job! I liked how you have to peek inside building to find the NPCs that will help you when you get them to escape. I was overwhelmed by the blobs until I realized I could get them in an alley, because I couldn't shoot up or down.
Very fun. It's cool how you use money as ammo.
I really enjoyed the art, but the controls were very clunky and unresponsive at times (didn't shoot when I pressed Space, maybe it's layring issue and I didn't see the bulelt). Also, the gameplay is pretty simple and didn't have enough variety of weapons, enemies and/or mechanics.
Neat idea on using rescues as health!
I found the shooting felt a bit unresponsive at times. More pressing, if you're up against a building (ie one is directly above you), bullets don't fire at all. (They're likely colliding with the building itself and vanishing before even rendering).
Minor issue aside, the graphics are wonderful and the idea has solid execution. Well done!
Well done - excepted movements which could be improved. Main aesthetic is gorgeous. I would like a music (you could uncheck the sound category - it is useless). Overall you did a good game. Thank you ++
Feels a little weird that the player can only aim in 2 directions and has different speeds when moving horizontally or vertically. The dash button is handy for moving around, it about equalizes the vertical movement and lets me get around easier, but seems like it was just extra work when having the same speeds would've had the same outcome. Graphics look nice, but all the buildings make it seem crowded and they block your vision of both the other humans and the slimes(that's probably intentional to add difficulty, but if it was used less I feel it would've been more effective. I also felt like I was pressing the fire button a dozen times before even 1 bullet appeared.
Just noticed why many felt that the main character isn't shooting many bullets. The shooting has a timer on it to prevent a spam of bullets, the problem is there is a reset each time the spacebar is pressed, so the best way to shoot is to hold down the key. This is probably a bug, so I might fix it.
Cool game. I think you should make it so the bag of money on the character's back gets more/less filled depending on how much money they have. I liked the graphics, fun game!
Fancy graphics. The moneybag on the back of the player is a nice touch. The controls, however, are as the others already mentioned very clunky. A different key for shooting would be better, since the spacebar always lead to scrolling down on the page...
I liked the exploration aspect of the game. Entering buildings and leaving them has been implemented in a nice way.
The graphics are cool but it's kind of strange to embody a savior dress up as a gangster.
