LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Night of the Clawrm by dwemthy 2018-12-09T06:57:11Z

Good game! Nice audio and gameplay. One improvement would be making it so the characters can't walk on the houses because the player can't get through the houses to capture them. Fun game !

Sunset Empire by Aggrathon 2018-12-30T00:29:22Z

Bit confusing at the start but it's a nice game!

FTD : Fixin' to Die by nuclearfriend 2018-12-10T09:23:18Z

Very well made game with solid mechanics! Very innovative and great fun!

Arkham 2043 by juxipolo 2018-12-09T22:51:22Z

Good, well-made game with an interesting story. Could be better explained as the attacks get a bit confusing though.

Sacrifices must be made by mobiledev 2018-12-10T09:01:59Z

Cool game. I think you should make it so the bag of money on the character's back gets more/less filled depending on how much money they have. I liked the graphics, fun game!

Noroi by Drauthius 2018-12-09T22:56:16Z

Really cool game that fits the theme well. It could be made so it is easier to attack enemies (like right click or something) because I find it hard to attack rather than move around the enemy. Great game!

Price of Power by Hilvon 2018-12-30T00:37:04Z

Nice smooth animations! However, I didn't really understand how to play.

Wildfire: Forest Containment by candlesan 2018-12-09T23:00:27Z

Good use of the theme in a cool game!

Cyberdisc-0 by Hi Im Greg 2018-12-09T23:33:17Z

Great fighting mechanics and the graphics and lighting blend incredibly well! You should add some downloadable wallpapers!

Miserable Morene and the Raiders of the Gold Blum by Izunah 2018-12-30T00:31:43Z

Good mechanic involving the red/blue attacks, well done!

Action Tanks - The battle for Althea by CG_Fred 2018-12-09T23:41:17Z

Fun game with cool effects and graphics! I don't really understand how it relates to the theme though but its a great game!

Bokeh by arron-fowler 2018-12-30T00:28:57Z

Cool game! This is one of the few 2 player games I have seen. Well done!

Sheepy by FROG5TAR 2018-12-05T00:28:07Z

aoirufus: I think that bug is present in all HTML5 games. It is likely a result of accidentally clicking and dragging the game window so the game thinks the key you most recently pressed is still down. Therefore, you are forced out of the map. Good comments on the sheep fitting in the hole, we might edit them so they don't roll around and are just cubes to make it easier. Thanks!

Sheepy by FROG5TAR 2018-12-09T20:24:22Z

Thanks for the comments! We will try to add a more comprehensive Tutorial into a level that helps players understand the game better. Thanks!

Sheepy by FROG5TAR 2018-12-09T23:36:32Z

@cg-fred we had a few ideas for puzzles, like using the sheep as a staircase and moving them in the way of traps to protect the shepherd but we ran out of time to code them (we did have some of the graphics made though). Thanks for the comment! We might add these more puzzling ideas after in later builds.

Odie Brought Mom Flowers by Psychedelia 2018-12-30T00:30:58Z

Interesting game with good controls!

Lava Luva by mcovert 2018-12-10T09:15:48Z

Cool building/management game which places you under pressure!

Bummed OUT! by boyTurnedRobot 2018-12-10T08:58:18Z

Fun game with a weird backstory. I think some more diverse sound and player mechanics (like health packs or a sprint function) would be a good addition. I like the way the art was done to make it seem like a 90s game. Cool game!

Skømp by phearbot 2018-12-09T07:00:02Z

Cool game with interesting mechanics. I like it! I especially like how it feels like a ready to publish game with the achievements and so on. Great game!

Shoot N' Get Shot by PotatoEZ 2018-12-30T00:23:41Z

Cool game with a simple yet effective mechanic!

Zackrifice by DerLasseHenrich 2018-12-07T02:59:32Z

Good little game! Simple and easy to follow but I think it could benefit from a difficulty system (easy, medium and hard).

AkimBear by ecmjohnson 2018-12-30T00:43:02Z

These graphics are outstanding! It is a great game with an interesting shooting mechanic!

Newton's Last Resort by WiredOverload 2018-12-10T08:21:20Z

Very cool concept and extremely well executed. It is one of the best games I've played in terms of how it relates to the theme as the theme is at the core of the gameplay. Stellar game!

Olympus Farms by BBApps 2018-12-09T23:22:43Z

Cool game, I like the way you can feed, plant and spend money, it adds depth to the game. Quick tutorial. The theme felt like it was just there so the game met the theme, rather than being a more primary part of the game, but it was a great game overall!

Threadpoint by mike_inPrinciple 2018-12-04T09:21:47Z

Amazing game!

Mr.Geek by Diego Burgos 2018-12-09T06:52:20Z

Outstanding game! Very well made and great fun to play. The graphics are amazing and the concept is cool. It feels like a completed game with great insight into the characters backgrounds and futures as well as having clean and effective graphics and animations. I really enjoyed it! 10/10

Bye¡Buddy! by Lenny92 2018-12-09T22:10:11Z

Cool concept made into a cool game!

Sky Fortress by Quasar47 2018-12-09T23:30:26Z

This game is fun! I like the weapon pickups!

Meat Spike by Muzzz29 2018-12-30T00:27:14Z

Good idea for the theme! Maybe you should have more checkpoints (every 5 platforms for example) because it can get tiring going back too far every time. Cool game overall!

Ranch of the Gods by Vodish 2018-12-09T21:45:46Z

Interesting game with cool graphics.

The last outpost by Istalri 2018-12-09T23:57:59Z

Cool defence game! It had good graphics and lighting and I think, with more different levels and maps, that it is something people would pay for!

Dare to Risk by Morris Beardbarian 2018-12-09T23:14:11Z

Great game, I enjoyed playing it! In response to the developers ideas: I don't think the map size should be increased (maybe there should be an option for keen players) but I do think timed turns should be implemented.

Total Party Kill by adventureislands 2018-12-10T09:10:03Z

Outstanding game! It has the whole game feel along with great graphics and audio that is great fun to play over many levels. The characters have cool abilities which allows for some awesome puzzling!

Scrapyard by David Sierra Gonzalez 2018-12-07T02:44:48Z

Good, game! I enjoyed playing it!

You tearing me apart! by dominikDeMentor 2018-12-30T00:25:59Z

Outstanding use of theme and it is implemented through a great mechanic that makes the game really cool!

I, Candle by Kemal Caglar Guler 2018-12-07T02:50:06Z

Well done! Good game with nice graphics. Really like the melting idea. I struggled a bit finding where I was meant to and got a bit stuck but it's a really cool game overall!

Flying Slime by gamefive 2018-12-30T00:25:13Z

Nice game, I used to use Scratch too!

LD44 — Your life is currency

Chrominance reloaded by Rahtainka 2019-05-03T07:19:21Z

Cool game, I really liked it! The graphics blended well. If you had more time it would have been better to work on information which would allow the player understand the game more.

The Final Rescue by mrjoshuamclean 2019-05-16T06:12:18Z

Very clever idea with your currency also being a liability depending on the quantity. It makes you think twice before thinking that more is better! I found picking up survivors really hard though.

Memory Run by DeathStorm 2019-05-16T06:26:16Z

Very cool game with the commands!

Life Merchant by Webox 2019-05-16T06:16:54Z

Consistent graphics and a well put together game!

BodyHop by NoNiMad 2019-05-11T23:54:22Z

Incredible game! So far it's my favourite. Really well made and heaps of fun for a good amount of time as well! The idea is really unique and fits the theme well. Keep reviewing games because this is winning material!

My Sweet Money Shooter by Lex Randea 2019-05-02T22:18:37Z

I guess your life is literally currency. Really fun game but it took me time to realise that I should play a bit more conservatively at the start. I enjoyed it! Good map and a very consistent theme throughout the entire game!

The Great Unicorn Migration (HTML5) by David Greene 2019-05-16T06:31:21Z

Cool game! You can walk really close to the crypto-zoologists without being caught sometimes though. The controls had a good feel to them.

Bullet Souls by Jellis 2019-05-16T06:05:07Z

Cool game!

Moon Miner by FROG5TAR 2019-05-02T09:58:53Z

Thanks for all the comments! You are what make the game better!

Moon Miner by FROG5TAR 2019-05-02T23:03:47Z

@multiplexor It's like tumbleweeds, I think we'll keep that because it's hilarious!

Moon Miner by FROG5TAR 2019-05-04T02:02:25Z

@thecritterscove Are you on Windows? We will put up a Mac and Linux one up soon. Also, make sure you unzip the folder so you can play. Thanks!

Moon Miner by FROG5TAR 2019-05-04T02:05:36Z

@pcmaster Thanks for the advice! We'll work on what you said and improve the game. I'm not sure if the WebGL is working so I'll have to check.

Life is Money by Mykola 2019-05-03T07:07:25Z

It was really hard to collect the money and to tell what wasn't money. I think things should have been enlarged. Otherwise, the game was good. I liked how the smaller objects dropped less money and the bigger ones dropped more. The graphics were cool too.

A credit card by alex_kpojb 2019-05-11T23:36:48Z

Good game! It was fun but all the enemies chasing you at once meant you couldn't attack them without losing a lot of money. The graphics are great!

Zombie Rush by Johannimations 2019-05-02T23:00:34Z

I agree that it is a bit easy but it is a finished and fun game!

Arrow of Light by sylvie 2019-05-02T22:21:22Z

Really well put together game but the aiming is a bit hard to get used to. I liked the consistent graphics and the audio was integrated seamlessly.

Rogue Money by ayama 2019-05-05T09:12:56Z

I like how you have to shoot the money except the money is of different values each bullet. This makes you think about what you shoot. Good game!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Feed Meh by MrTroy 2020-04-21T04:09:45Z

First of all, those quotes are hilarious! Anyway, fun game with good graphics. Agreed that something other than alt should be used (say E or a mouse button). Overall, some tweaks will make this game even better!

myBUDDY O.S. by Lawnchair Society 2020-04-29T05:18:40Z

Cool game, very unique! The pixel art was nice and it wasn't invasive of my screen space or anything. Nice audio and a good bit of depth. Though, I felt the way you dealt with enemies could be better than just clicking; this could open up lots more for your game! I liked this game overall and the innovative, play it on your desktop idea! Well done overall!

Hydro-Carbon Rescue by Joror 2020-04-28T00:31:02Z

Brilliant game! The movement is intuitive, smooth, and effective. The game plays smoothly and feels really polished. UI scales well and is consistent with the spectacular graphics the game has! The lighting is really nice and I'm so glad I saw the beauty turning the shadows on beholds. I didn't get too far in the game as I didn't really know what I was meant to do, but I enjoyed all the mechanics I came across. Great mood due to the audio and overall gameplay. This is a really great game, well done!

Don't forget to comment on other people's games so yours gets more ratings!

Left in the Dark by Eldy 2020-04-24T05:22:24Z

Cool game, found it reasonably fun but I think you should add some more feedback when you act in the game. For example, enemy recoil, muzzleflash, and a flash of flames when you put something in the fire. Also, do something like this for the thumbnail (you can use this if you want). Pretty cool game with some potential if you keep working, nice job!

WAVER by Skyeward 2020-04-29T04:39:26Z

Spectacular game! It feels and looks polished. The menu was a luxury as was the gameplay! It was enjoyable and the timing was relatively easy, just predicting when to go got me for while (I only got a few perfects). But that makes the game unique. The graphics were nice and the audio worked perfectly in sync with the wave itself. Speaking of the wave, it was incredibly innovative and fitted the theme superbly! You already know about the difficulty problems, perhaps adding options/difficulties for telling you what letters each spectator is, or using just one line of a keyboard. I liked the wave cam, the spam every key as a wave, and the give me an "insert letter here" was a great way to shake up the gameplay (and it was intuitive, the instruction was literally in the gameplay)! Overall, really well done and highly rated!

Sim Cell by Archimagus 2020-05-12T01:36:16Z

Nice game! It has plenty of mechanics and stuff to do. I didn't really understand what I was meant to do, but I'll try and supply some feedback. An idea would be top upload a video in your Ludum Dare page for a tutorial. They're much quicker to make and are people tend to respond better to visual tutorials (rather than words for example). This is a very ambitious game, and I like the depth and attention to detail it has. This can definitely be extended with more work to become a very fun and complex game, even an educational tool as others have suggested! I don't understand the biology much, but you clearly do, so congratulations for the great job you've done of implementing it! There's lots going on and the game feels reasonably alive! Some more audio and graphic work would enhance this. I liked the close up camera you used in the top right corner! Overall, good start, but some more work is needed for it to be more playable (mainly surrounding tutorials and in game explanations). But you've done great so far, you just needed some more time to extend what you've made to others so they can understand it. Good work!

Busy Bee Business by HuvaaKoodia 2020-05-08T10:28:57Z

Spectacular graphics, amazing audio, and a great mood overall! The instructions on the Ludum Dare page suffice (so well done for making them short). The game is peaceful yet fun, and feels well polished. Really nice atmosphere overall. The gameplay is intuitive and feels great (even though it's a point and click, hence, you've done a great job)! The requirement to multitask and keep your eye on multiple things is great. The bee is quite hard to control however, and an auto-restart would be a helpful addition. This game has the key mechanics of the bee, pinecone, nectar, and flowers. They all work together so well, and are equally represented (as in, they're all at the front and centre, well used, not under-used, and each contribute significantly to the gameplay). Overall, amazing job, amazing game!

Efi by ludipe 2020-04-22T12:12:07Z

First of all, I liked how the character comes off the dot on the 'i', nice touch! It is a lot harder than I expected, but still reasonable, so I liked the difficulty. The snake elements are cool. A gam like this needs tight controls and you have executed that superbly! The animated graphics were minimal and very effective, I found that one of the features that contributed to the liveliness of the game. I really liked the game overall, well done!

The Sword of Saturn by tinykidtoo 2020-04-21T02:22:52Z

Good screen shake and the game works well. Great blood effects!

Space Station Express by quadtree 2020-05-05T10:18:45Z

Great game! Atmospheric and fun! I did find the gel missions a bit hard in comparison though. The movement was smooth and nice, and the gameplay was good. I liked the use of momentum, but some more control would be nice. Or you could have a distance indicator so you knew when to slow down (I sped a bit). Overall, great effort and this is a good game!

Make sure you comment on other games to make sure you get enough ratings :)

Space Engine Janitor by kschmidt 2020-05-05T05:59:51Z

Cool game! It was depth with the various defences and levels, and the gameplay is relatively fun. The defences are well chosen and since they're so unique in their effect (not just damage, but slowing enemies down, taking back what they stole was great), it made the game fun and strategic. The instructions UI went off a bit on the web version but it was still easy to follow. I was mesmerised by the pixel star wallpaper. It looked amazing and made it feel like my screen was 4K or something! Some audio would be nice, and some more game feel with animated enemies or screenshake (just some ideas). Overall, nice game and good job!

WormsWorms by saucygames 2020-04-28T04:21:20Z

Fun game! I enjoyed it and quickly got used to the 8-directional aiming! The graphics were great as was the audio. Movement was smooth and sort of reminded me of Overcooked (especially the dust trail). I liked how you had to feed two big birds and how the fence you were protecting actually had a function; protecting an easier path for the enemies! The enemies locked onto you so your 8-directional aiming worked well. As for constructive feedback, maybe some difficulty options that allow more lives, and, while all the mechanics (wood, fixing fence etc) were great, maybe something that eases you into balancing them all at one (again, a difficulty mode could suffice here). I found that this game was quite fun, and replayable, so good job! Overall, great game! well done!

Take Care Of Health Care by mlho7 2020-04-24T07:36:29Z

Good game with potential, but I found it too hard, and the time you have to wait to try again is punishing. Shorter quotes would be good. The graphics are cool and the context is current. This is a really good reaction game (better on a touchscreen) but could benefit from gameplay appearing in a more timely manner. I found this game unique and fun! Well done!

Take Care Of Health Care by mlho7 2020-04-24T08:47:33Z

@mlho7 Sorry, to clarify, it doesn't work on my touch screen (just tested) but if it did, it would likely be easier. Fair comment on the difficulty, it is frustrating waiting for the right thing to be done by those in power!

MIRACLE WORKER by designernap 2020-04-27T09:12:18Z

Cool game! The graphics area really nice as are the visual effects. The audio works really well too to create a mood just like being on a spaceship! The movement was pretty good, and the jump definitely came in handy. I would have liked the player to be a wee bit bigger though. The game felt polished to an extent also. I didn't manage to assemble much but I saw your video and realised I was overthinking it :). Great entry, and all the best!

Virus by mikel 2020-04-25T00:04:29Z

Cool puzzle game with a good theme! However, I didn't really understand how to play at first, but your tutorial post in the blood really helped me. This game is unique and inspired. I had fun once I figured it out and enjoyed the gameplay. Improvements: some more simple levels at the start as I did begin to struggle. Great game overall! Well done!

Hostage Escape by Maksym 2020-04-21T10:10:34Z

Great game! Well made and smooth with amazing assets. I liked the puzzle and how unique it all was. It also fitted the theme well!

Space Drone Guy by TechnoNugget 2020-04-25T01:03:59Z

Really cool game! I enjoyed playing it and had a lot of fun! Cool graphics and the game overall had a good mood and aesthetic. It felt good to play and the momentum idea for the drone was executed really well! The enemies moved and fought well, and your combat system against them was good. Recommendations: less time spent on the meteor shower at the start, and more time fighting enemies, also, bigger bullets would't hurt), and a better title/name. Overall: Geat game, and well done!

I am your Dead by Akelliona 2020-04-26T10:10:17Z

The game overall was good. Graphics and audio were nice (the moving sound reminds me of the Plants vs Zombies eating sound). We never really considered a story for our game, but games that do add a good mood, like this one! It took a while to understand the double-click and I still don't understand how to get past the hazards in the third level. It was reasonably fun to play, apart from some of my confusion. Overall, good game and yes, you should definitely keep going! It'll be a good game!

That Time I Crossed A Barren Desert To Protect&Care The World From Terrible Code by alaah 2020-04-25T00:35:59Z

Really cool game! Engaging and fun to play! The puzzles were fun and not too hard. I would improve the reset level because it was a bit hard to click in the right place. Great job overall!

Vinyl Hills by MatthewPoletin 2020-04-21T00:47:29Z

Great art and music! The game was reasonably fun and I like the requirement to read what the audience is saying so succeed at the game.

Scavengers by alobker 2020-04-23T09:12:09Z

I really like the splitscreen, it's very effective and "fancy" (the word I've chosen to describe it). It looks professional, and I admire how it merges when the characters are within frame, then splits and rotates. I like the models (Synty Studios are great aye)! Obviously it's not complete, but nice job, and I hope you continue with it!

Madscape by Shigor 2020-04-29T05:01:59Z

Cool idea and a cool game! A video tutorial would be more engaging and probably clearer. I didn't really understand it from the description, but I liked the concept. I found the game had depth though and got a few turns in and got to understand a tiny bit, but not the full picture. The sense of growth in the game over turns was great! It is also possible to lose the main game object by moving to far right (like when I read the instructions :)), but that is not really an issue. The animations (turn transitions), while simple, were quite cool too! Overall, just need clearer direction so more people can understand this game which is already really good (by other people's comments), but has more potential! Good work overall!

Unnamed Space Game by Justin_C 2020-04-22T08:36:18Z

Cool game! Just want to mention that I really like the Gamemaker engine. The movement felt really good, if anything a tad too heavy, but it was all so smooth and enjoyable. Fun to play but some more player feedback (screenshake on hits taken, more of a feel) would have been nice (obviously there was a restricted time frame). Overall, good job! The game had a good feel and kept me entertained, you should be very happy with it!

Edit: I just wanted to mention how I admired the physical, visual spacing of the ship, UI and objects on the screen, it was really good! It felt open and empty with just enough stuff on it, just like space! (ie, you spaced it perfectly!) I think this a superb quality of the game that I haven't seen on other games.

Party Killer by Brackeys 2020-04-21T00:05:10Z

Well, I was just finishing setting up my itch.io account when the blazing colours of this game's cover caught my eye. I had finished my submission so I gave it a click. After being wowed by it I realised it was made by Brackeys and that it was for LD46, so I made sure to come back and rate it highly. Absolutely spectacular visuals (especially with my RGB controllers) and great audio! It's fun to play and I like how the theme is about keeping the party alive (except one of you plays against the theme). I'm glad someone decided to make a non-singleplayer game, really adds some diversity to the range of games. Brilliant!

Tiny Fragments by Daniel Moreno 2020-04-21T06:06:55Z

Spectacular game! Well made in just 72 hours. It calmly leads you in and shows you the concepts without the need for a boring tutorial. Everything is interesting and puzzling. Amazing graphics and a polished feel!

Monster Love by Endurion 2020-04-26T09:45:13Z

This is a cool idea and a good game! I found myself quite enjoying it for a bit. The audio combo (especially the soundtrack) was great too! Overall, reasonably good mechanics. I did find it hard to aim and swat flies and the hives got a bit hard for me. I would advise working on the aiming and reach of the fly swatter (maybe even divide Frakie into a grid for easier and clearer aiming). More polishing is needed in this area. Menus and all work well! Overall good job!

No Fish To Die by dillonbecker 2020-04-22T09:12:25Z

Really cool game! Good graphics, good gameplay and challenging levels. I enjoyed it!

GhostVac by christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2020-04-25T00:43:30Z

Really cool game, especially how you worked with the graphics (3D game in 2D engine). I enjoyed playing it. It was satisfying, well themed, and had amazing visuals (especially the shine on objects). The game could benefit from some difficulty modes, where an easier mode would have a faint line to the hold because aiming at the left and right holes took some adjusting to. Overall, really good game that I had fun playing! Keep it up!

Drop the egg Jeff by Dextreon 2020-04-24T23:23:24Z

Cool game! I found it fun but a little frustrating. It was quite hard but a rewarding and enjoyable experience. Really good game for a firs jam! Improvements: jump height determined on how long you hold the space bar, difficulty modes (easy, medium, hard) with some aid (like a mini magnet that pulls the egg in when it's close). Great job!

Dr. Noir by UnidayStudio 2020-04-22T09:09:13Z

Really well polished, great graphics, and an innovative game that is challenging! I enjoyed it and really liked the virus' side effects on the player!

SPECIAL MEAT for a special boy by LethalTurtle 2020-04-27T08:19:32Z

Really good graphics, and I like how the colours change a bit when you get close to them. The audio tone matching up with the timer's seconds was cool and the audio worked really well to create the creepy vibe. The eyes were a signature part of this game! It felt smooth to play as well. The core loop of the game wasn't clear to me so do ensure clear instructions are available. One time, it locked my mouse after I lost, but that was probably just a Windows or Unity glitch. Overall, great mood! This game excelled in the creepy category and is good overall! Nice job!

MACHINA by Harry Alissavakis 2020-04-22T09:59:17Z

Spectacular graphics and a polished feel! Pretty much everything about this game was executed superbly so I can't think of any tips for improvements. I liked its depth and I had a good deal of fun playing it!

My BFF! Glorpol! by xel 2020-04-24T07:58:26Z

Masterpiece! Best game I've played this Ludum Dare, and I've played around 50 so far. I hope this gets into the Top 10 for a few categories since it certainly deserves it! Brilliant graphics, amazing gameplay, great audio, and every bit of content works so well together. This could be extended in content and be released/published as a full game! Improvements: maybe less dialogue at the start (but a full release would keep the amount) and please add a boss fight! I played right to the end, it was so much fun!!! 5 stars!

P.S. Make sure to keep rating games, so this masterpiece gets up there on the leaderboards!

L♪vely Rhythm by DiegoCTorguet 2020-04-19T22:25:42Z

Great game! I really enjoyed playing it and it felt well polished!

Sun up by Trigueiro 2020-04-29T00:57:07Z

Congratulations on your first Ludum Dare! It is a great start, just more content in the diversity of the level is needed (curves and corners, bigger buildings, possibly collapsing structures for surprise shadows). Unity and Magicavoxel are a great combo (we used them for our last two Jams)! The game itself is very innovative (shadows being used as a mechanic rather than a nice graphic is very unique and a pleasure to see)! I enjoyed it while it lasted, but more content is required. Definitely polish the sun's movement. Overall, a cool game which is a start to being a great game, the sun model is spectacular, and all the best for the future!

Flock for Feast by Antti Haavikko 2020-04-26T05:38:31Z

My "Seagull Squadron" got third at the time of this review with 180,733 points! This game, however, the most important part, is fantastic! The colours work together superbly and the gameplay was invigorating. Super fun and super unique. This game is amazing and I really enjoyed playing it for a decent amount of time. Controlling the flock felt really good and smooth, and the font was well chosen/made. Everything fitted together really well to create this, yes I'll use the word, masterpiece! The only thing I would say was the maps randomizing was awesome, but could disadvantage some runs, but then that's what makes it fun and diverse so I'm not complaining. The only thing I could say you could improve, was the blob enemy felt like it could've done with a gradient/pattern, but that's just me picking at a near perfect game. Thank you very much for your extensive review of our game, it was much appreciated! I have given this game very high ratings as it certainly deserves it! Incredible game, incredible job!

Day and Night by dskeppstedt 2020-04-24T05:30:36Z

Good game at the moment for a jam, but some more time will get it really good! I like the pathfinding, but found it hard to pick stuff up, so Imainly just told my player to find paths around and through the wood. Some more player feedback would be good like, "You cooked the fish, and now have 1 less hunger". I liked the idea of keeping the fire alive! Keep at it!

Garden Royale by J_C - One Bit Studio 2020-04-26T09:55:19Z

Good idea but it needs more work. The instructions were clear at the start, but I couldn't figure out how to craft stuff (or drop items). I tried to make a water sprayer but couldn't. I played a little bit and enjoyed walking around, as the world had a nice aesthetic to it. It's a good start, but try and narrow down ideas next time so you have the basics early. Then hopefully your game can be more completed. Definitely keeping working as this has potential! I like where this is going, just need some more time (as 72 hours is definitely a challenge)! Good job so far!

For Ducks' Sake by GaryS 2020-04-26T04:27:16Z

Seen this game a bit on the blogs, but only just got around to playing it. Well, I'm glad I did! It was really fun! The game is a good jam game that felt polished and smooth. The graphics and audio sync well (in terms of their 8-Bit style which I know you were going for) as does the gameplay. When I started playing, I thought the aim was tied to the direction of movement but quickly realised the 8 directional aiming (which also goes well with the 8-Bit theme). Really enjoyed playing it and I had fun! All elements of the game (especially the mechanics) tied well and worked together to deliver a consistently 8-Bit experience that was enjoyable to play. However, I noticed you look in 8 directions for aiming while stationary, but found it confusing when this reduced to 4 directions while moving. This might be an improvement to keep things consistent. Overall, well done and a truly great job!

Balloon Jump by Blueman 2020-04-29T05:31:31Z

My highscore was 142! Thanks for this game! It's quite fun! Good technique involved and it really does feel like you're pushing a balloon around. All your work came together well and it is a solid entry! I really enjoyed it! As for an improvement, I thought you could make the platform colliders more forgiving in terms of jumping. Basically making them wider so you can jump even when your a few pixels completely off the platform (not visually noticible but feels really good to play). Overall, really good, fun game!

Hacking is Probably Not Like This by sayumeki 2020-04-24T23:14:57Z

Really good game with depth! I enjoyed playing it and liked the diversity in puzzles! There is a lot of content for the timeframe and the game is really unique (I like the title too)! Improvements: audio in terms of music and sound effects, there are some really cool effects for hacking games, and different coloured text for the non-puzzle related information (I accidentally selected repeat instead of quit once, my bad). Overall, a great game that I had fun playing and solving!

Seeking Power by gustavo.christino 2020-05-12T02:04:27Z

Nice jam game here! I like the platforming aspect and how you incorporated the theme with technology, and how all the enemies/hazards worked (especially the one that dropped fire). The controls could do with some polishing as they felt a bit heavy and the character was wasn't easy to use. But the ability to hold the jump in midair worked well! I found it quite hard, so some easier levels would be nice. Starting with some more battery bars would make it easier too. The background and aesthetic graphics could be improved (and more consistent), but the enemies and such were good! I like how the core of your game is good, just some more time and work is needed to polish it so it feels better to play. Good work and keep going!

P.S. All the best with getting to 100 ratings, we're really close as well! I hope you get there!

VAMP by gwinnell 2020-04-24T23:32:04Z

Brilliant! Really good game. The difficulty increased appropriately and the game was fun to play. The graphics were amazing and the audio was fitting. I enjoyed the gameplay and thought it was unique, great for the theme of the jam, and deserves high ratings. One improvement could be changing the attack force forward, as sometimes I got a little lost as to what way I was pointing. Very impressive game overall!

Last Beer by Nilodree 2020-04-24T02:28:23Z

Great game! Super well made and I love the humor. Superb art and I'm really happy to see a runner entry into the Ludum Dare! I like how the other characters kick the tables back at you for something extra to avoid. I would add turn the in game sound effects up a bit and add more however. Really enjoyed playing it, so thank you!

@johnnysix GameMaker does have a web output (I have a copy) but it's super expensive (I got it cheap on an Humble Bundle).

Zhoot IT by CG_Fred 2020-05-08T10:19:16Z

Great game! The game felt really robust to play! Really well controlled gameplay, it felt professionally made. Great graphics, the outlines on everything worked really well, and everything worked really well together! (It's sort of like "Void Bastards" if you've heard of that!) If was fun, but the AI could do with some more randomness in movement and shooting (and the game with some more length, but what you had is great and fun, plus, it's a jam). I really enjoyed it and the way the enemies broke down into cubes in the shape of the enemy was amazing! The camera sometimes jolted randomly, however I've seen this in other WebGL Unity games (fully published ones) and it might be an engine bug. The sound was fantastic creating a great sense of mood! Really immersive and enjoyable! This is a really great game! Overall, amazing job, well polished, well done!

P.S. Thanks for the quick, concise tutorial, it really helps! I also forgot to mention that I loved the use of energy when shooting and moving, really great mechanic!

Exterminators by Zachary Shah 2020-04-22T05:55:23Z

The art is simple and very effective! The first level was especially impressive with the white contrast, and I liked the gameplay, it was fun! Things that you could improve: better player feedback, like when you hit/destroy an enemy, something that the player can feel, and also a different coloured cursor. The mechanics of the four characters were good too! Overall, good job, I liked it!

Evergreen by RAFFE 2020-04-29T11:09:24Z

Great game, the graphics are nice as is the overall atmosphere! As for my gameplay expereince, I won! It was fun to play and as soon as you got close to getting bored, the tree fight appeared! It was intense and fun to play and the typing idea was really innovative (although it got hectic at the end where you just had to spam everything). The audio works really well in setting the mood, but could transition smoother. Some more diversity at the start would help too. The mechanics work well and you don't feel that you're babying the game along into working, it feels robust and easy to work with! Overall, the game is well made, the mechanics are well executed! Incredible game!

Quite Contrary by chelC 2020-04-22T05:39:27Z

Sooo nice! 5/5 for both audio and mood! Great game that is just sooo peaceful! Enjoyed it and found it relaxing, even (accidentally) left it open while I found more games, it was that good! I like the way your backyard grows. Some improvements could be some slow animation, some more obvious instruction, and more of a goal (it is fine as it is however). Overall, well done, it's good!

Raising the bar by SpaceMonkey 2020-04-26T07:57:35Z

Cool game! I had fun playing it. The ability to blend so many different drinks etc to make combinations was a great mechanic, it added depth to the game and increased the progression (in terms of money made and so on). I liked the theme and the audio was really good too! It was intuitive enough to not require a tutorial so well done! The "ka-ching" sound was great and made me want to continue selling my products, and the diversity in the drinks gave me so many options. As for things to work on, I would have liked to see the neon theme from the menu continue throughout the game because that was spectacular, and some more information on how to optimize profit (even certain mixes working better than others, a bit tough for a jam though) You already did this to a good extent with the blending of up two three ingredients so that's great! But the game overall was really good, the and the mechanics worked well. Unfortunately I closed it before I finished (my bad) so I didn't get to see the leaderboard, but it's great that you have one in your game! In summary, really good, unique job!

Eggy Roll by RomaRogov 2020-04-22T10:10:40Z

Wow! This game is really good! Superb combination of graphics, mechanics, and audio for an great mood! Really had a fun and peaceful time playing it!

(P.S. I know how you feel, I also didn't realise you had to make an itch.io project public after publishing it.)

2nd edit :) Wanted to say that the egg breaking was executed really well!

Hope by Darylsteak 2020-04-22T05:59:27Z

It's a cool game with very nice pixel art! The gameplay and lore was good, as was the complexity and difficulty of the puzzles, it was fun to play! Posting the solutions was helpful as people would become more invested in the game.

Courier of Fire by Balgorode 2020-04-24T08:44:38Z

Great game! I especially liked how you could reignite the ball. The puzzle aspect was really good and was pitched at the right difficulty. Some improvements: softness on the edges of sprites to make them look cooler and shadows. Good job overall! I enjoyed it!

Delivery Derby by eldogg 2020-04-26T07:40:35Z

Great, funny game! I found it fun (and funny) to play and really liked the controls. The objectives were clear and the dialogue was amazing (and actually existed so bonus points)! It needs polishing, but its current state adds character so there's a fine line to walk there. I would also make it easier to catch vehicles that steal your package, as you travel at the same speed and have to guess when they're going to turn. To summarise, it is appropriately named, really enjoyable, really funny, and really fun! Well done!

Job-Changing Janitor Fights Off Zombies And Tries To Save Patients At A Hospital by Grentacular 2020-04-28T01:19:53Z

I really liked this game! It was fun and the graphics were nice! The audio was crisp and the UI worked really well. The 4-directional aiming was a good addition as it suited the game and made it unique! A clearer objective/score would be appreciated, and the janitor felt a little underskilled, maybe if he made a 2x2 area slippery rather than just one tile? But the game was fun to play and switching classes to address the main need was fun! Overall, good game with good mechanics!

The Empty Cone by Acr515 2020-04-25T04:52:20Z

Cool game! I liked serving the customers and keeping track of who I needed to serve first. The game has good depth to it with the day/night cycle, upgrades etc. It was smooth to play and felt polished. However, I think I encountered a bug where I couldn't select my weapon properly or shoot. The monsters attacked and it told me to press space bar which I did, and nothing happened, I spammed a few keys and then I got my gun but I couldn't shoot. I used Q, R, Space again, and click to try and reset it but no luck. This was in the Web port. I had got the gun working in my first playthrough before I restarted though (during day time). Overall, well made, and I hope to come back to playing it!

The Empty Cone by Acr515 2020-04-25T06:59:08Z

@epicular I played again and the bug didn't appear which is good! Definitely enjoyed the game second time around!

LEADER KEEP THEM ALIVE by Bastienre4 2020-04-22T11:51:21Z

Cool game! Brilliant atmosphere and a well crafted and polished game. I would recommend adding a feature that skips to the end of the text typing (I did read your comment concerning that however). Very neat job, I'm sure you're very happy with it!

Guide Ur Human by Avzgui 2020-04-28T00:21:27Z

I like how he was magnetised to danger. Learning of the hazards as you went worked well. The game works well but could be spiced up a little, with more content, including more levels and more diverse hazards per level. The graphics were consistent and well made, the audio worked really well together, and the menu UI was really well done! Overall, a good game with nice graphics, it was fun!

Me: Tree! by Groggi 2020-04-24T08:05:59Z

Cool idea! I hope you finish it! I played a bit but was confused as to the energy part and collecting more. Definitely more to add, but a good start!

My Pet Tulsi by Flash22 2020-04-26T05:00:50Z

Really good idea and a solid jam game! I enjoyed it but found they spawned and disappeared a little fast, but as I played, I got better. I liked the simplicity and how it played out well into a good experience overall. The audio was fitting but a bit repetitive. Some improvement ideas would include: don't forget the WebGL port in Unity and a difficulty setting would be nice. And just a note, I found it quite hard to distinguish between the sunlight and pollution (I'm a bit colorblind in this area). Maybe try shapes (e.g. water drops) to combat this. Overall, neat idea and you've done well in turning it into a neat game!

Kardiossomatic by NeitherNathan 2020-04-25T05:13:40Z

Cool graphics and smooth gameplay! I liked the art from your blog post. It had the creepy feel I'm sure you were going for but I didn't really understand how to play so some instructions would be good. I got a few minutes in collecting those red things and the game definitely commanded my attention! Definitely keep working on this one, it has potential and already is good! P.S. My game is also about keeping a heart alive, feel free to give it a play.

Open Fire! by Amazura 2020-05-06T06:09:35Z

Really nice game! The graphics are great and the audio fits it all really well. It feels well polished and the writing is interesting. I do think it needs more mechanics or just more going on because it does get a bit boring. But I did enjoy the intensity the game had! Good work, I hope you add some more to it as this is already a good game! Great job!

Cubi & Spheri by Hugo kieffer 2020-05-06T04:49:47Z

Cool game! I really liked the graphics! They look really nice, and the mechanics of the rope worked really well! The game could do with some more mechanics and content as I wasn't sure what to do after I toppled the AI. Overall, good game and good job!

Memento Mori by mimusangel 2020-04-22T08:21:53Z

Clever design for the theme! If was easy to understand. Hopefully next time you have more time to polish it! I did quite like this entry!

Lamps by qkjosh 2020-04-22T08:53:28Z

Liking the sounds and mood! Good game and great graphics!

Final Flower: Petals of a Lost Age by Scott Steffes 2020-04-24T07:29:46Z

Spectacular game! Really well made and fun. I did find it a bit hard however, but fun overall! Everything fits together really well and the graphics and audio combine for a really good mood. One added mechanic could be a parabolic aiming system when you can shoot the flower container really long/high/short/low or any combination to suit your situation better. Really well done and an excellent game, especially given the time. You must have worked well as a team!

MicroVore by Eran Haas 2020-04-25T00:26:10Z

Beautiful animation! Amazing to watch! Yes, it's not a game, but I'm really happy that more of these are appearing in Ludum Dare, and I hope to see more. Keep up the great (in this case spectacular) work!

P.S. Ran all right on my gaming laptop, and thanks for the video!

Anatomic Mayhem by henrycgs 2020-05-09T02:06:30Z

Brilliant game! Simple yet intense. You've created a great mood and the game is well made and polished. Great graphics and audio, and your interpretation of the theme is 5 star! (Innovation 5 star as well!) I really enjoyed playing this entry and thought it was genuinely one of the best! The only advice I have is to have multiple difficulties that introduce the new body parts at a slower/faster rate to help new players (but I got used to it very quickly, so that's good)! Overall, spectacular game and a really good effort! I've given it really high ratings and look forward to seeing this in the leaderboards! Masterpiece!

Anatomic Mayhem by henrycgs 2020-05-09T02:32:15Z

@henrycgs Ok! I guess you're ahead of me on that one! I just played the original one. Good work!

File Survival by Probe31 2020-04-28T03:30:28Z

Really good game! I thoroughly enjoyed it and admired the depth it has. All the icons have a purpose rather than show. The colour scheme change was cool especially. I really like the graphics and perfect use of the best sound in computing history. It felt really good to play (like a real operating system) and you felt you really were waging war against a virus while being just on the desktop. All the mechanics from stopping the deletion, moving the file, renaming the file, all work so well together! I would add a difficulty setting, some more randomness in the level, a quicker start, and a soundtrack that increases in intensity. Overall, incredible effort and I have rated this game very highly! One of the best I have played out of my 100+ so far! Fantastic!

Slimekeep by BenBonk 2020-05-05T05:52:43Z

Really nice game! It was fun to play and the consistent GREEN colour palette worked really well! This allowed for a nice mood. I think some more diversity in enemies and terrain would be good, just extending on what you have (obviously, you had 48 hours, so what you had is perfectly fine). But sometimes the aiming did feel a little hard since the bullets and enemies can be tiny, but when there's more enemies, this problem (or just me :) goes away. Perhaps some bigger colliders to favour the player. But those are very small things compared to this game as a whole. The screenshake was well placed and aided the 8-bit feel I felt it had. The quality is there and it is a good game! Overall, well done! You have made a well-polished, high quality game!

Peculiar Farming by Arcus 2020-04-28T00:16:55Z

Good game! Quests were great and the gameplay was reasonably intuitive. I enjoyed it! The main gameplay screen was well laid out and it was satisfying to grow and sell crops. Some player feedback would be good during transactions though. Also some plots wouldn't let me plant after a while, probably an instruction I didn't read. The music was good and fitted reasonably and, while being a little out of place for the game genre, it was really cool and spiced the game up well! The graphics could be upgraded however, and the controls could have a pop-up to remind me, as they were intuitive from the instructions, in game, some hints/reminders would have been good. Good game overall, it had a lot of depth to it, and it felt alive! Well done!

Bringing Home the Bacon by RubixNoob13 2020-04-26T04:45:46Z

This game had good graphics and felt solid! I also liked how you had to balance what you were working on. The pixel art was nice and consistent and the audio fitted it (but some more would be nicer, to balance out the beeps). However, after the start which was fun, it became a bit repetitive, and, as you've just mentioned, some elements were simplified and this confused me a little. Definitely use more time next jam, and if your not motivated, play a game (Steam etc) and see if you get inspiration! Overall, great aesthetic and a good start to a good jam game, so well done!

Overwatch by rkhadder 2020-04-24T08:33:07Z

Quite hard but quite fun! A slower increase in difficulty would be greatly appreciated. Good audio and good gameplay. I liked the click and move aspect and the way you interacted with the cameras. Good game!

Space Girl Thibi Feed Me by Elnu 2020-04-21T05:13:18Z

Brilliant graphics, they're consistent and the font goes really well with them! Game felt good, sometimes I struggled to hit the jump button at the right time (probably just me though). Overall I enjoyed it!

The Great Return by Attala 2020-04-20T23:11:21Z

Great game! You feel very in control of the chicken making the game constantly fun. The difficulty levels is a great addition meaning more people can enjoy the game for longer. Somehow, I never get annoyed when I lose, so I guess that's another thing that makes this game great and replayable! It also has great graphics and sound effects.

tyle by jordantanner 2020-04-25T05:20:57Z

Really good game! Ran smoothly and I had fun! Addictive and I like the mechanic of having to wait an extra cycle if you miss a shot (although it can be annoying). Felt good to play and the highscore table is really good! Great job, great game!

Keep What Alive by Valeth2124 2020-05-10T05:27:25Z

Great effort! Good atmosphere in the neighbourhood and town areas, and a nice cooking mechanic! (I liked the night time lighting in the neighbourhood too, and the atmosphere of being in a pandemic shows best in your neighbourhood area, so well crafted!) Well made and it feels like you've done some polishing. Some more tutorial/hints would be a good addition. I felt a great sense of depth to the game with the story, dialogue, and various activities! Hence, it had a very good amount of content! Great story and a great effort! Well done!

Friendly Fire by very dark lord 2020-05-05T10:57:35Z

Great game! It was well thought out and had a great mood! I'm glad you uploaded a playthrough video! I found it a bit of work listening to the dialogue, but since it was intriguing, thought out, and well written, it was good in that aspect overall. Also, travelling could be spiced up visually somehow (perhaps grass animations or something). Good soundtrack and good audio effects! The graphics were superb and consistent across the game (including the font, the audio mixed well with them also). Good writing and the game as a whole felt well polished! Overall, great job!

FLOWER by ShivArt 2020-05-05T23:47:05Z

Beautiful game! The amazing graphics and audio combine for a spectacular mood (5 stars for that category)! I really enjoyed it! However, I feel it definitely needs more mechanics to be more of a game. Overall, though, it was a great, well-polished experience that I found to be absolutely brilliant! Incredible job! All the best!

Ice Ice Baby by Fabrizio Spadaro 2020-04-26T10:24:13Z

Really good ideas and they are well executed! I like how you control the world, the different speeds of surfaces, and the protective shadows. The faster movement and higher jumps of the ice when it got smaller was good too! The nice touch of the ice cube's mood in different conditions was subtle, but great addition! I feel this game needs to be polished in its movement area. It's good, but the ice cube felt a bit heavy to control which made harder levels a bit annoying. Oh yes, sound would be great too! Overall, really good job and a nice game!

(...aaaannd as I'm typing this I feel my screen is tilting back and forth, just like this game's screen, trippy!)

Storm Warden by FlashViper 2020-04-21T02:48:59Z

Really good game! It all ties in really well from the visuals (especially the consistent colours) to the sound, the mood and what's actually happening in the game. Fun to play and unique. I enjoyed it!

Can I keep it plz? by bloodycoin 2020-05-05T10:39:45Z

Good start! The story behind the game is good and well written! Some more guidance would be appreciated however. I knew how the controls worked (good explanation on that), but I needed some more feedback on what each interaction did (a visual/audio change in the scene for example). Perhaps each item is very clearly (as in visually) related to an aspect of the pet's condition and can tell exactly what you need to change each condition. The game had good depth to it with all the interactive items. The graphics were good and I found there was quite a decent mood, but some more colour could liven it up. It's a good start and fits the theme well! Overall, good job! Keep it up!

Until Sunrise by Jishin 2020-04-23T09:56:43Z

I like the shadows and how you can use the fire's health to upgrade (rather than resources). I had fun playing it and found the graphics and audio really nice (and liked their combination to create a great mood)!

Hospital Ride by The1 2020-04-30T00:40:45Z

Great UI and menu/pause system. Some alternate controls could make it easier (maybe involving the mouse), but the current ones are fine, just takes a bit of getting used to. Definitely dial down the difficulty options as some people (like me) did struggle (although I completed most of the levels after some practice). You could just add a few easier levels before the hard ones come into play (definitely keep the hard ones). But finding where the surgery room was more of a trial and error; once you found it, you just had to memorise the path. I think this is actually a valuable way to reuse the levels so well done! Hotline Miami like graphics worked well, and the art on its own was nice. Some improvements could definitely involve looking at alternate controls (keeping the current ones, just allowing more options) and some more levels that don't jump difficulty too fast. Even a hint as to the general direction of the surgery room might help. As much as the AI got in the way (their purpose of course), they worked really well and felt quite intelligent! Anyway, the gameplay felt smooth, and the controls and movement was felt great and well polished! Great screenshake and particle effects and the "Thanks for Playing" final level showed this off really well! Overall, amazing game, heaps of fun with great audio, graphics, and an overall mood!

Oh wait this has an editor? Click! Not yet but hopefully in the future, as this game is great! We want more!

@teamnova @shigor @lawnchair-society @xenith

So sorry everyone! I haven't used itch.io before but I have made the page public now! I hope you play it!

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-04-21T03:29:44Z

@blueman Nice! I think my highest (keeping in mind I messed with the difficulty during development) was about the same, but on this version, I got 16610, so you beat me!

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-04-21T05:25:46Z

@bootygangdisciple Thanks for the feedback! I'll keep the colour thing in mind (I'm a bit colorblind especially around red so that makes it hard). I enjoyed your stream as well!

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-04-21T09:30:10Z

@yigitserin Thanks! I was really happy with how they felt to destroy (bit taxing on performance though, all physics based). Thank you for your feedback!

@lazzydev72 Agreed, I would have liked a better level (we had a design) but the AI weren't smart enough to pathfind. Hopefully next time though! And I'll make sure to check the colour theme with others next time. Thanks for the feedback!

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-04-22T03:56:59Z

@justin-c Thank you for the comment! I agree about the path finding. Hopefully next time it will be better. We just had to strike a balance between the map complexities and the enemies (as some enemies getting stuck meant that they found it harder to get to the heart). But next time, we will go with what you said and make the AI move properly. Thank you for the feedback!

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-04-22T08:46:10Z

@scott-steffes Thanks for the comment. We were really proud of the game feel (and thee syringes sticking in viruses) so I'm glad you were too!

@lykawolfie Thanks for the feedback. I was initially planning for different levels, but ran out of time and focussed on a more infinite game but yes, I agree, more weapons would have been great (shotgun and minigun were planned). And thanks, the AI have been noted.

@romarogov Thank you, I'm happy to see you liked the physical effects! (As CPU intensive as they are.)

@nicu-comiati Thank you! A streamer who played it also didn't realise they had a health bar until they died too :)

@pomeroyb Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-04-23T09:04:52Z

@the1 Thank you for that!

@singleshoe Thanks for playing! It eventually gets near impossible, but you have to play a while for that. Before then, you encounter four different enemy types at increased spawn rates.

@bastienre4 Thank you for the comment!

@evert Thanks for the review! Agreed about the AI and I'm happy it was addictive (as I found myself overplaying it during testing too).

@khud0 Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you liked the shells!

@bulent-altinay Thank you for that! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the high rating!

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-04-23T09:59:59Z

@gallahron Thanks for your feedback! The player dying was probably because the heart died, or there could be a glitch.

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-04-24T09:22:45Z

@arcus Just a question about the bug. Did the camera move away from the player and focus on the heart? Possibly a bug, but the heart probably ran out of health. Thanks for your feedback!

@tuesi Thank you for that, I'm glad we achieved that meaty feel, it was a goal!

@shubh Thank you!

@jarithius Now this is a good comment! Lots of ideas for improvement! I have noted them for future development. Definitely like the defibrillator idea and bigger enemies.

@finnthepirate Thank you for that, glad you were engaged with the game and liked the sounds!

@mlho7 Thanks! I was hoping someone would do that, they really are aggressive!

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-04-25T02:35:25Z

@bitpokit Thank you very much for that! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

@echo-team Thanks! I understand the virus physics issues, mainly, the pathfinding was too basic, next time/future development we'll ensure that doesn't happen. Thank you!

@unimaginable-code-studios Thank you for that! All the best for this Ludum Dare and hopefully the many more to come!

@uberardy Thank you for the review!

@mister-collette Thank you for that! After looking up "visceral", I am happy that the sound worked like that! As for a win condition, it was an infinite game, but you're right. We should hopefully add a win condition (levels, wave by wave etc) after this Ludum Dare. Thanks!

@iamscissors Thanks for the comment! I actually got annoyed at the bullets hitting the health away (I couldn't make it not do that), but it turned out to work for the best! It makes you shoot more accurately and you have to be more active in your movement. We're glad you enjoyed our game! Great highscore also, thanks for posting it!

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-04-25T07:58:04Z

@systematic Thank you!

@neithernathan Thank you for the comment!

@sky-fighter Thanks for reviewing our game! The pathfinding problems were ther,e but the viruses getting stuck meant it was easier when it got hectic and the terrain had more effect on their movement. But I totally agree, and next time, we'll fix it by making them pathfind properly (but also walk slower if they push against walls, one of my ideas)!

@local-minimum Thank you for that! I liked your idea to improve the levels with moving/changing obstacles (an idea for the future). The AI would also be improved if we were to further the game. Thanks!

@fazy Thank you for your comment. I agree about the weapon options. We were originally going to have a shotgun and minigun but closed the idea due to time and focussed on an infinite level. Thank you!

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-04-26T05:19:55Z

@mathieu-semin Thanks for the kind words and advice! We will definitely look at further levels and content if we keep working on it.

@joeshanahan Thanks for the comment and for sharing your score!

@cg-fred Thank you for that! I like your idea of powerups and level expansion. Definitely a good thing for us to work on.

@antti-haavikko Fair idea about the score and time representing the same thing. I think we would improve this by making the final score the total, while you get a breakdown of time, enemies popped etc. I never thought about a multiplier system, but it sounds great! I understand and am so happy you told me about the controls and the need for consistency, as I got a bit used to it while developing. The movement was based on forces, and you're right, some polishing is required, but do you think I should just alter the Transform directly, would that be smoother? You appear to have found the butter zone with respect to shooting and moving the health pickups. Most liked them, some found them a bit annoying, but the bouncing idea would work really well! As per the AI, thanks for the advice, I haven't coded very complex ones before but that gave me good insight! Shooting through walls was actually shooting over since the walls were short on purpose; to keep out viruses while you could still attack, but we could make that more obvious. More sound effects, understood, and I definitely should have checked the colour scheme with my friend since I'm colorblind (colour deficient around reds and greens) so I didn't realise the brightness. Thanks for very, very much for your extensive feedback! I found it valuable and very helpful as we continue in the game development art!

@huvaakoodia Thank you for the great feedback. The optimization idea was great and I like the ideas you had to add to the game (especially the overdrive). The camera moving up is a good idea for the tactical and visual reasons (the background texture is so cool)! The side effects of your actions, ie, shooting the heart, would add depth to the game so thanks for that. If we continue with this game, or work on another, I will keep these in mind as they are very valuable! Thank you!

@despdair Thank you, agreed, hopefully that will be polished a tad more next time.

@marcusnystrand Thanks for playing, reviewing commenting, and posting your score!

@technonugget Thank you for the review! We appreciate it! Polishing the physics sound like some good advice, and addressing the ability to shoot health pickups (separate, or as @antti-haavikko put it, even allowing them to bounce back to you after shooting). Overall: Thanks!

@zachary-shah Thanks for rating our game! We're glad you enjoyed it and found yourself mixing strategies! Thanks for the advice on the level size and enemy types too!

@eldogg Thank you for that! I especially took into note the gunshot sound and how variation would improve it, and the colours. Thanks!

@antti-haavikko Righto, thanks! That all makes sense and if we continue, we'll look at some more work based around your great advice! Thanks!

@madalaski Thanks for your rating and comment! If we continue, we'll have a look at your magnetism idea!

@larsspawn Thank you! I like the play with friends, and turret mechanics ideas you had!

@fabula-rasa Thanks for your comment and advice! The camera angle doesn't show it, but the blocks weren't meant to be walls, but they were meant to hold the off viruses a bit. However, I definitely get your point in how they sort of stopped when they got to a wall, so thank you for that! I like how you put it, "like they lost their nefarious purpose in life," just need to put some slightly smarter AI in I guess!

@skyeward Thank you for streaming our game! Thanks for the advice on spicing up the game in terms of screenshake and near death indicators! And for liking the one-way health trade system! Thanks for playing!

@trigueiro Thank you for the review, and for your advice on the graphics work!

@walkalope Thanks for playing our game on stream, and for the great feedback! I like the idea of floating damage numbers and agree with you about the red colouring. Brilliant feedback! Thank you!

@whitefox Thank you for the positive feedback! (We might try to make the tutorial simpler with an in game part that shows you rather than tells you, so thanks for that!)

@adonisdevs Great highscore! Thanks for the great feedback! We might speed up the rate of change in spawning at the start, because you're definitely right.

@rubixnoob13 Thank you for the positive and funny comment! We're glad you liked the overall aesthetic!

@turritom Thank you for the feedback and for posting your highscore!

@binaryprinciple Thanks for the positive feedback, we appreciate it!

@duke Thank you for the great feedback! We're glad you liked it! I understand about the red and, you're right, we could definitely improve the movement. I needed to change the numbers so the player had more friction. Thanks!

@kjscott Thank you for your feedback! We're still thinking about the health pickup collisions with the syringes since some liked and some didn't (one person's idea was to make it bouncy so you could knock it back to yourself). But I can understand it being annoying. (Performance and wave difficulty noted by the way, just needed more time to optimise it. Thanks for telling us that! It's important we get onto that later.) Thanks for playing!

@convg Thank you for for that! Glad to see you found it amusing!

@elio Thank you (I understand about the colours, tweaking time I think)!

@leonardo-fraga Thanks for your feedback, and we're glad you enjoyed the "juiciness"!

@joror Nice highscore! The reason the syringes varied in going through walls was because the walls were actually blocks of a certain height. Since the syringes dropped over time (which allowed them to have a maximum range), they would sometimes go over said block, or fall and hit it, but I understand what you mean, we might tweak that in the future. We're glad you liked the visceral feel of the game! Thanks for playing and giving us feedback!

@kschmidt Glad you had fun! Thanks for the feedback!

@civmaniac Thanks for the extensive feedback! I didn't really think about controller support, but you're definitely right, it would be a great addition (just a time management thing next time if we do implement it)! I like the grenade idea and thanks for noticing the aspect ratio effort! It scales out to quite ridiculous ratios which I was proud of so I'm glad it came to some fruition! I'm a bit colourblind which is my excuse for the colouring (but I should've consulted my teammate better, so my bad :). Your feedback is greatly appreciated so thanks! Nice highscore too!

@gustavo-christino Thank you so much for your extensive analysis! I have liked all three of your posts so you can get the maximum karma! I like your idea for new weapons and powerups (I was planning a shotugn and minigun but ran out of time) if we continue with it (and we are definitely going to continue with something)! I'm glad the tutorial was easy to understand and that you liked the gameplay overall. Your third and fourth point is very insightful and brings a very new way to use this game, not just as a game, but for society's benefit so thanks! Thank you very much!

Space Exodus by Kaish 2020-04-29T00:23:41Z

Really cool game! The sound was very innovative and of high quality. I really liked how it was used as a mechanic! It felt like you were in space and it was enjoyable to play. It was somehow peaceful, and a bit stressful when you ran low on resources, at the same time! Some improvements could be a map of discovered planets because sometimes I ran out of one specific resource, or a uncovering of fog idea (on a minimap) like I saw "The Great Berate" said on YouTube said. Overall, incredible job, great game!

Pals 'til Death by DanyVk 2020-04-21T06:36:52Z

Game mechanic wise: Doom-like so cool. Everything-else wise: unacceptable, horrible, and disgusting (especially that comment of yours). You're a good developer, but next time, think of something that doesn't revolve around massacring characters of such nature!

Giant Blobs From Mars by Almighty Games 2020-04-29T06:40:51Z

Great game! The music is great! Good graphics and the gameplay works well. It is really unique too and has a good sense of progression both inside a single level, and over all of them. Some improvements could be some music that feels a bit more in place (but your guitar playing is amazing) and a some more tutorial/direction as I it was confusing to get used to, but once I got it, I became immediately addicted! It is really well balanced and polished. It's peaceful to play and is quite fun!

Thanks for reviewing my game on your stream (I played this game soon after and wrote a half-finished comment, and only just got back here, so sorry about that)!

Balanced Parenting by Spaghetti 2020-04-21T00:34:26Z

This is really cool! Simple and effective. Great base mechanic which is replayable, nice art, and the theme is inspired. You've done really well, especially to teach yourself Unity during the quarantine. I hope you continue with game development!

Yoda Eternal by LarsDu 2020-04-25T02:14:36Z

Quite a good FPS! I enjoyed playing it and really got into it after a while! I would advise writing some code that attracts pickups to you when you're nearby, and changing the camera angle (it felt a bit weird, maybe keep it at the default in Unity). Some more player feedback when you shoot and hit enemies would be good to increase game feel. The UI was intuitive and helpful, the level had a good layout, and the gameplay was fun! Well done!

Pong-Pong by Geri 2020-04-27T08:30:26Z

The different colours gave me a sense of progression. I like how you have to move and shoot with skill to do well. Those fast triangular enemies were great as they was a strategic way to deal with them. The diversity in enemies added to the game well and the soundtrack matched well and was really cool! My constructive feedback is to make the car you're protecting move between rooms faster as waiting was a bit tedious. Also, those alternate firing methods could be more available throughout the levels, and more of them to spice the game up! Overall, a really solid and fun entry that fits the theme! Really well done!

Nessie Alliance by zerocomms 2020-04-28T00:46:06Z

Good game! I really like how you draw the path for the missiles! The mechanics of each wizard was great and the all aspects of the game worked well together! As for improvements: the menu could be improved in layout, and the enemies could be progressively damaged as you hit them, rather than just destroying their projectiles. I like how it makes you read the instructions, and that they themself are concise. Overall, good game that I quite enjoyed!

Eveleen by isayneigh 2020-04-28T01:09:13Z

Wow! Amazing writing and an amazing game! Not necessarily my type but it was great nonetheless. It was structured well and the graphics all tied in well with the font. Brilliantly innovative and unique, and the mood is 5 stars! I would make the pathway to success clearer however. You have definitely "create[d] the feeling of depression and frustration in the player" and you have achieved this to a very high level! Overall, spectacularly well done!

Till Death Do Us Part by Bobothegreat 2020-04-29T06:27:51Z

Cornelius is the best character! Great game and well made! It feels like a meme, except is it genuinely good in a game sense! Brilliant audio and hilarious visuals, especially combined with the on-point voice acting! Couldn't say much to improve it apart from some helpful pointers to people like me who don't play this type of game often. Overall, you've made a really unique entry that is funny, bordering on hysterical!!

Gregg by Walkalope 2020-04-26T04:18:57Z

This game is really cool! The voxel graphics are stunning, especially the glowing elements! The controls felt very responsive, and the jetpack was well implemented. I found it fun, and wanted to play it over again. The audio mixed in well for a good overall feel and mood. I think some improvements could involve making it easier to identify the hazards so the game appears more black and white in that way. You can easily tell what the terrain is and what the enemies/hazards are so you don't have to guess what to avoid (not that it took long of course). Also, I noticed the game started a tad earlier than the loading screen disappeared, so you could die instantly if you spawned by a turret before the loading screen had gone away. These are relatively minor things compared to all the things you did well! It felt polished and was a pleasure to play! Really good game overall, well rated!

Keep the blob alive ! by NewinGames 2020-04-28T04:27:48Z

Really cool idea that is superbly executed. Fun to play with a simple mechanic (to play not to make) but hard to master. The graphics and audio create a great mood and the game is really innovative. Some more explanation on the movement of the little dots would be nice however. Overall, spectacular game. It really is great!

Don't forget to comment on other peoples' games so your karma goes up and more people see your game!

platformEGG by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-04-22T11:58:29Z

Title: Help!? by Jarithius 2020-04-23T09:49:40Z

Good game that I spent a bit of time playing! I liked the idea, but probably did a few puzzles wrong as I had to resort to my touchscreen to click in the right place at the right time. Fun game!

The Battle of R'lyeh by lauramei 2020-04-24T05:41:55Z

Bizzare and brilliant setting and theme! I liked the gameplay however it quickly became easy and the same wave seems to come over and over again. If you balance this game it will become really good. Overall, the game is a uniquely themed tower defence that just needs some balancing to become really good! The mood is brilliant as a result of the theme and ambience too!

Alien Convoy by Willian Oliva 2020-04-27T07:59:16Z

Really good game! Great graphics and audio, and the gameplay was fun and polished. There a good amount of content with the 3 levels, and each level felt like you were actually out there, protecting a truck in a cold desert, so your game's mood is great! The art is nice and consistent across the characters, terrain, and UI and the audio goes really well with it (as well as being great by itself). It was a good experience to play! My constructive feedback would be: some more feedback when shooting (ie recoil), the camera being able to see a bit more (however the view is great as it is, it gives the game a greater sense of being alive, as you can't see all the enemies, and as you are being ambushed), and make sure the bullets spawn from the muzzle of the gun. Overall, really great job and I'm glad you added a .zip file as I was excited to play it (probably would have got a new .rar opener eventually)! Great game!

Remember, Apollo by AdamCYounis 2020-04-22T12:05:09Z

Great graphics and ambience! I liked the peaceful gameplay, the well placed audio effects, the good placement of checkpoints, the smooth feel, the appropriate increase in difficulty, and a loop that ends in the menu! That's a long list! It really is a great game, I had a good time playing it!

Relaxing Sarlacc Experience by Ekoxe 2020-04-21T00:39:52Z

Love it! As soon as I heard the music I knew this was going to be great! The art is amazing and the game is well based on the theme (although as soon as I heard that music, the theme went out the window :). Pretty cool overall!

Edit: The game was fun to play, even though you're just dragging "dudes" into a pit. I also liked how they slide into the pit if you put them too far away.

Breaking Egg by Mulberg 2020-04-22T10:18:20Z

Xenov: Ascension by Alxertion 2020-04-29T10:36:47Z

Great tower defence! The graphics were amazing and it was an enjoyable experience. I did become confused as to where the enemies would come from as I surveyed the city (and wondered it the weapons went on the rooftops), but I was probably just captivated by the great graphic work! It was intuitive once I found the right place (facepalm me) and the mechanics worked together really well! I would definitely want to work on the difficulty however. It was really easy and didn't get much harder. Hence a greater difficulty curve would be great as would some more diverse enemies. Overall, really well polished and a great game overall! Well done!

Keep It Alive by William Carlisle 2020-04-27T01:54:37Z

This is a good start! It has nice pixel art, a cool walking animation, and some promising mechanics that just need some more work. I would add/change: WASD movement, make sure the arrows point in the direction of velocity, more intuitive interaction with the nurse and merchant (a pop-up that says, "Press E to purchase"). I found the combat difficult since the arrow was hard to aim and I couldn't buy more. I got the idea of the game eventually and think that this could be quite good with some extra time! Great start, I hope you keep it up!

Slime Mama by Jack Kaloger 2020-04-23T03:09:14Z

Well made and fun game! Graphics and audio are cool. However, I only managed to get the slime fed to 3/4 so I lost but it was fun so I enjoyed playing it despite this (sign of a good game). Controls were good and the gameplay was smooth and responsive (may I suggest bigger hitboxes for picking up the food though, sometimes it was hard when you were moving to push 'E' at the right time). Overall, really good entry for this Jam!

Catnip Panic by Platyp 2020-04-22T10:29:12Z

Cuties Don't Die by BeasRabbit 2020-04-27T08:46:12Z

Nice font and graphics. The colour was great and consistent (good palette). The audio also fitted really well. As for the gameplay, the movement was smooth in the world, and the UI made sense, but I couldn't really figure out how to play. I am new to this genre, but the first time I attacked I lost without dealing damage. The instructions made sense but I didn't know how to apply them in game. I can see this game is good by other people's experiences, sadly I just could get very good. Overall, a really good effort though!

Boring Simulator by vivienw 2020-04-26T04:52:20Z

Quite a bizzare game, but still cool for a bit! I liked how you could change the rates, and I eventually filled up my screen. Unfortunately, this really isn't much of a game, and, as the title says, it quickly became boring, but it's a start! Extend by making an obvious mechanic, and developing this into a replayable concept, which eventually becomes a game. For example, this game could be extended to be more of a game reasonably easily. There could be a death rate as decided by the game, and you control the birth rate. However, you must keep the current amount of shapes on the screen between two numbers, the maximum and minimum, otherwise the player loses. Anyway, all the best for your future games!

Me doing what any normal person would certainly do in this! Capture.PNG

The King's Gun Guy by Leonardo Fraga 2020-05-09T23:05:47Z

Really good game! I enjoyed playing it! Good depth in the upgrades there was a diverse range of enemies! Graphics were nice, but the audio could be improved. The game got really hard at one wave randomly, but the upgrades were balanced enough to get me through part, but unfortunately not all, of it. I liked the knockback of bullets onto enemies from all angles. Good game, and good effort! Nice job!

As for the spectacular updated version; amazing! Really well polished there and the candlelight flickering of the lights worked incredibly well! Great muzzleflash and weapon effects, good blood splats that stayed on surfaces. The weapons feel better, the the visuals (including animation) and audio are revamped really well! I hope you keep going with this sort of thing, because this is a great game! Well done!

Floyd's Fire by BinaryPrinciple 2020-04-26T04:35:22Z

Cool game! It had a good mood and the lighting was really well done. The movement looked quite cool, even though it was simple, and it was quick, allowing you to have more fun playing! I mainly just ran through the levels as efficiently as possible because the ghosts just took my fire. I found it fun and the art style was great. Improvements: work on the mechanics more next time, definitely find the time for the audio next time, and @runuchok nailed it with the idea of a collapsing level (with more flames spawning also). Good job overall though, something to be proud of!

Precious Animals by despdair 2020-04-25T02:19:57Z

Pretty cool game here! I enjoyed it and liked how the enemies would roll up, and start shooting. I found it intuitive, intense, and fun, for an enjoyable experience (especially as more animals came up). I would recommend a bit of a visual polish (graphics are nice, but maybe some lighting effects etc). Overall, well done for one of two games you made in just 72 hours!

The Last Guardian by civmaniac 2020-05-11T10:57:02Z

This game is fantastic! Really peaceful, and it had a backstory at the start that I actually wanted to read. Upon starting the game, I knew exactly what I had to do; I needed to give this game 5 stars for audio! (I see that it is someone else's work, but you chose the perfect song!) Oh yes, the tutorial was also well made, concise, easy to understand, and with pictures! The gameplay itself is fun with a diverse range of enemies and great mechanics. These mechanics are all well balanced (as in the must all be tended to equally)! I could feel the quality and attention to detail of the polish especially when I planted a cactus. The player's animation worked seamlessly with the movement slowing action to make it feel like your wizard really was getting down and planting it!

Some improvements could be made in the realm of audio during the gameplay. The song was wonderful at the start, but can overwhelm the rest of the game and its gameplay sounds. The movement felt great, but was a bit slow and heavy. The combat system, while great, could be touched up so it's appears more obvious what you're going to hit. But that's it for improvements really, you've done an amazing job!

The player needed to multitask and tend to the combat, planting, harvesting acorns, and watering the tree in the most unique way, which is great! It is fun to play and is an all round enjoyable experience. It is quite unique and has a great visual style! Spectaucular job and well done! I'm really happy to see an already high-quality game is going to become fully fledged! All the best with finding a name and with the game overall!

LifeLine by pomeroyb 2020-04-22T10:23:18Z

Now this is a very unique game! I found it really fun and innovative! It truly is a great game due to its simplicity and how you nailed every aspect. I would like to see a difficulty setting just because I found it quite hard. Fantastic!

Sacred Guard by larsspawn 2020-04-24T05:53:27Z

Really good graphics and font! They are consistent throughout the game! I enjoyed playing this game, however, it was paced a bit slow. Improvements: have space work for jumping as well, faster fire rate, and make the game feel more alive with more sounds and animations. The graphics were superb and the game played smoothly. I enjoyed it, but some more diversity in the gameplay (more enemies etc) would definitely spice it up. Overall, great job!

Save the Fish by Duck Reaction 2020-04-22T11:38:20Z

This game has brilliant graphics! Fun to play and innovative! The visuals when you lose are funny and the sound is funny too. I enjoyed playing it, nice game for a jam, well done!

The horse needs help by WhiteFox 2020-04-27T08:53:40Z

Pretty cool for a first Ludum Dare! I liked how the apples popped into existence on the trees and looked and contrasted well with them. The first person view was smooth, and the instructions were clear. The colours were well chosen too. Some things you could improve: the jump didn't really go anywhere so increase the force, a more diverse landscape, and type of hazard to add difficulty and a better overall mechanic. Great start though! All the best and well done!

Keep a Plant by KDgame 2020-04-23T02:55:06Z

Simple and enjoyable! I think a good thing to add would be a score counter that gave you higher scores based on how early you destroyed the meteors. The game overall was very effective and fun to play! Nice job!

Sorry, there are some more files that need to be there for the game to run. I haven't rated it yet, but I will come back if you @ me though! Good luck!

Fire Is Life by Lakshya Maurya 2020-05-12T08:41:26Z

This is definitely a good start! The menu and level select is well made which is exactly what you need when being introduced to a new game! The first person controller handles incredibly well and I really like the particle effects! The gameplay is intuitive (I like this sort of game) but needs some work. I feel it needs some more mechanics to spice it up, and each level could have a different layout. Some new graphics would be advisory too. You felt like you were shooting, and you could tell when an enemy was hit and destroyed, but some more player feedback (like them falling over, or some screenshake) would be nice. A health bar for the fire and more health would enable the game to be more fun. As others have noted the issue with the cursor when re-entering the level select screen. To fix this, I think you just need to add a line of code on the loading of the level select screen that says to show the mouse, and unlock it from the centre of the screen. But you've done a good job for a jam, just more work/time is needed to really get more of a game going. I played it and had a bit of fun! You've done quite well so well done! Good work and all the best with getting to 20 ratings (you're so close)!

PULSE by JonasPK 2020-04-25T05:52:02Z

Really good game! I enjoyed playing it and found myself getting better over time (shows that the design is good)! A timer would be good and some polishing to make the body parts that come out be more likely to help you could be good (but advanced to implement). The art is fantastic and some extra audio would really spice it up. Great game and an enjoyable experience!

That was my last egg by dq_201 2020-04-21T09:36:41Z

Cool game! Nice theme and graphics. It becomes difficult however (but you've already noted that). Pretty fun!

The Last Flower by Unimaginable_Code_Studios 2020-04-24T23:05:13Z

Simple and effective combat. Great entry for a first jam so well done! I found this game fun to play and satisfying to shoot in! Things to improve: hitboxes for the ghosts sometimes didn't work (probably because the sword wasn't detected to be inside the enemy during a frame, might need to try raycasting), platform jumping felt a bit difficult. Nice job overall and it is certainly a good game by itself and a good start to something better!

Keep Him Alive by Bulent Altinay 2020-04-29T10:55:03Z

Well done to you for your first Ludum Dare! Welcome and I hope you had fun! You have a completed and working mechanic and that has created quite a good game! It is reasonably fun and has well made graphics (nice particle effects too). I enjoyed it! I would recommend just polishing the controls, even getting others to see what works best and what feels the best for them. Also, more content. Five more levels would be the right amount for a jam, all with an additional mechanic like the robot enemy you've already included. It was great to see a menu with buttons, and the game is in a great (the core gameplay is finished) state to publish for a first jam. Some audio from the environment (the sound when the energy ball hits the well) and a theme song would be a great addition! But you've done a really good job of the base, its mainly just content quantity you have to work on (as you have a great start with quality)! This means your game has great potential and is already quite good as it is! Overall, really good first entry, and some more content would make it even better! Well done!

Squatch Watch: Keeping The Myth Alive by picross 2020-04-28T00:00:24Z

The name is great as is the game! Really good mood and dialogue (I'm glad to see this is coming out more in Jam games). It was fun to play and the graphics were old and classic, and consistent, meaning it all went together well. The other audio components also went together well. As for improvements, I felt the AI could be polished a bit, they were still really good, they just turned a bit slow for me, but their running speed being faster than bigfoot was really good! I just struggled to lose them, but I guess that added to the sneaky aspect of it. Anyway, the levels felt really good to play as they were designed really well. The lighting was really effective too. Overall, really good job!

Squatch Watch: Keeping The Myth Alive by picross 2020-04-28T00:00:25Z

Really sorry, I accidentally double-clicked save/publish and wrote another comment. I wish there was a delete comment function. Anyway, I guess I'd better add to my previous comment. This game had real character which you could feel right from the start. Great humour too!

Save Bob by Boaz 2020-05-05T10:01:41Z

Fun game! I found it intuitive (however, I though buying guns meant you got the gun, but using them like a tower defence was quite a good idea from you). Good gameplay overall, and it kept me engaged. Some improvements could be polishing, graphics, and some player feedback like screenshake, or the birds spiralling (and shrinking) downwards once they are hit (just some ideas). Please sign up for the humor category as this game would get some nice stars there from me! Overall, good entry, well done! Keep it up!

Keep, It['s] Alive by Mad Scientist Carl 2020-05-05T11:03:33Z

Funny game! Well I won! It was interesting to play and the theme job was obviously hilarious (a play on words like this gets a high theme rating from me :). (Obviously it's humorous too!) Halarious graphics but some more depth in the victory requirements would be good. What I mean here is some more difficulty when you invoke the defence method, and even some way to fight back? Cool game though, I remember seeing it in the blog feed during the 48 hours and wanting to see how it turned out (and the answer to that was good)! Overall, good job and keep it up!

Elementrees by Mathieu Semin 2020-04-25T02:43:06Z

Cool game with great graphics! I enjoyed the 4 elements and how the map was laid out symmetrically (I didn't realise there were 4 trees until I explored a bit though). I think each individual enemy could be slowed a bit and have less health so you can play for longer. Also, some more obvious feedback to the player when you attack/shoot (sometimes hard to tell at close range), but the enemy feedback upon being hit is good with that white damage indicator. I had fun and really enjoyed this game and its stunning visuals! Great job!

Keep Him Alive by Convg 2020-05-08T09:40:04Z

This is quite a good game! The screenshake, while a little excessive, is great and adds a good feel to the game. The combat was intense and fun, and the quantity of loot was really cool (and I admired the slow fade animation of the coins)! The AI could be hit by attracting them and standing just outside the room, and the combat was a hard with the short range. Overall, really good. Your game packs quite a punch! It feels really good to play and the excessive movement, AI aggressiveness, and screenshake come together really well into a skill based game. You have done really well to acheive that in a game jam (wow)! Keep it up, this is really good so far! Well done!

P.S. Glad to see you continued it after the jam!

He Needs Healing by WanS24 2020-04-28T00:39:46Z

Good mechanics and a fun game to play. I like how you got this genre to work with the theme. Graphics are nice and the menu and UI work well. I did struggle with the key choices, but I just needed practice (two hands worked better for me). I would also improve the audio. Really cool game that came together well. Nice job!

Lighthouse Keeper and the Shadow Pirates by cagibi 2020-04-19T21:59:16Z

Very good game, with a smooth feel! I really enjoyed playing it and the art, music, and sound worked superbly together. I especially liked how the bullet enhancement works as it makes you position your ship more tactically. One thing I found was the enemies only very rarely dropped points so I would've liked to get those more often. I have given this great game a very high rating and am excited to see the results when the Jam ends!

Edit: I edited this post because I came back to look at my feedback comments. I realised I wrote I "would give it a very high rating when the Jam ends" rather than that "I have given this great game a very high rating and am excited to see the results when the Jam ends!" Sorry about that and I hope you weren't confused! All the best!

Keep Them Away ! by SpaceStrawberriesStudio 2020-04-28T03:20:23Z

I enjoyed this game and had fun! Cool graphics that worked well together and the game worked really well! I would advise spicing the game up a bit with easier to access upgrades and a faster tempo for the gameplay. I could easily tell what was going on as the design of the gameplay was intuitive and good overall. The mouse aiming was a bit strange being 90 degrees off, but I felt it worked quite well, as if you really were rotating a turret, rather than just pointing and aiming. So definitely keep that! Overall, a bit unique in how you are aiming the turret yourself, and an overall nice game!

Goddle Royale by yigitserin 2020-04-21T06:47:08Z

Cool animations! First time I've seen decent 3D animation this jam. Cool game and I like the idea of protecting a moving character with awesome powerup effects! Nice job!

Farm Defense by Hexmith 2020-04-24T01:49:14Z

This game is actually pretty fun! I enjoyed playing it and I really hope you finish it because it has a lot of potential! Obviously there are some things to add like audio, feedback when you hit the enemies, and a less confusing main screen (I didn't realise you had to start the wave to be allowed to place towers). Also, a higher difficulty would be great as I found it quite easy (but fun) after the first wave or two. Great work!

Stay Alive by Hruy Gashaw 2020-04-22T05:36:13Z

I hope you two keep working on this game because it has potential! In its current state, its fun and has superb graphics (I gave it a 5/5 for that, I love the style, it really works)! Yes it could do with more difficulty and a skill based technique to avoid the bullets, but I definitely encourage you both to keep going!

Spider's Food by 8BitCharlie 2020-05-09T05:23:14Z

Good game! Well done on coding all of this! I liked how one HTML file included everything! The gameplay was great fun! I noticed that since your player, and all of the enemies, took up a singular block space, it looked like you were really good as you played, as in, close calls and dodges came commonly which was really great! I liked how you added an extra block every level for progression (some more levels would be nice, but it's honestly fine as it is since this was a jam game)! Some improvements could be a greater quantity of graphics and decoration, but that's just me trying to find something to add. Great content and the simple graphics work well! I managed to win and loop back to the first level so that made me happy! Amazing job, well done!

Dragon Defender by Isiah Brighton 2020-05-06T04:55:05Z

Nice game! Good audio and a lot of mecahnics were implemented and all were done quite well for a game jam! Some more clarity on the instructions would be good, and even some text popups throughout the game would be helpful to players. Good graphics and the tower defence was of a appropriate difficulty so well done! Overall really good game! I had fun playing it!

Resquack by SorgardTeam 2020-05-08T09:35:12Z

Really good game! Heaps of fun. Controls felt smooth, and the gameplay was intuitive. The ducklings followed at the most optimal distance, and everything felt well polished. I may have encountered one bug, but I died soon after so it may have just been me not waiting long enough. I had gathered 5/4 ducks and no new ducks appeared, and it didn't progress me. But it never happened again, and was likely my bad observation (ie, the duckling was behind a tree). Honestly, such a good game overall. Some improvements could be polishing the graphics and making the audio more continuous (in how they overlap, just making it feel more alive). Those ideas are just me wanting to add some advice, and I really think what you have is amazing! Great game! I've given it great ratings because this is really well made. Great atmosphere with that audio and the graphics area really nice! It was lots of fun and the difficulty, including the diversity of hazards (slow cars, fast motorcycles, dogs) pitched everything perfectly. Overall, really good job!

Tumbleweed by Brenan 2020-04-22T05:48:28Z

Visally and mechanially, this game is spectacular! It was peaceful and enjoyable giving an amazing mood. Incredibly well crafted and extremely impressive in a game jam (even with the team size). I'm trying to think of a final sentence, but the only word is: WOW! So there you go!

Try To Not Die by DrKfir 2020-04-24T08:51:42Z

This game is cool! I enjoyed the graphics and the good gameplay. It was fun! Improvements: make the easy mode easier, slightly tighter controls (only need a bit of tweaking). Good effort and quite a good game, well done!

Dungeon Farmer by TheQiwiBoy 2020-04-28T00:52:23Z

Nice simple game that is really fun! It felt fun to play and the gameplay was smooth. I would add a more wave based system, and add another enemy type that bounces away based on the angle and velocity of the sword that needs to be hit a second time to be destroyed. Overall, well done, it was fun!

Clonization by FPGames 2020-04-25T04:42:17Z

I liked this game! I found it fun to play and good keeping a balance! The graphics worked well together and the gameplay was intuitive and unique (throwing unwanted clones against the spikes). The edges of the screen had a cool blur effect which I liked as well. I would had added a soundtrack, something extra in the way of an animation when a clone is eaten, and, this last bit is just my opinion, made it a little harder to accidentally get eaten yourself. Very good game overall!

Clonization by FPGames 2020-04-25T04:55:07Z

@fpgames Makes sense and fair enough!

1922: The Unfortunate Olympian by Mark Keeble 2020-05-05T06:02:03Z

Cool game! I enjoyed what I got to play of it. I couldn't get past the water bit in the tutorial as the valve wouldn't do anything (I tried three times after relaunching it). Other than that, I can see this game is great. Good audio and great graphics! Smooth and well made, and the tutorial was good but some colliders to ensure all the next text isn't triggered before you've read the current one would be good. Other than that, smooth controls, the gameplay felt intuitive, and it had a great mood! Good job overall!

S.L.I.M.E.S. Division by Yoshify 2020-04-25T07:11:21Z

Amazing game! I really enjoyed it! It was engaging, addictive, and had great depth with the upgrades and buildings. The upgrades were still concise in that, you knew what they all did and didn't get bogged down; they were intuitive. Beautiful graphics and nice, matching audio. The pace is perfect except for at the end where it gets a bit fast to quickly (but still fine). I would also increase the volume of the music slightly. The mood was great and the itch.io page really aided the game with that background. Abosulutely incredible game!

Tower of BOOM by BadPiggy 2020-04-24T08:24:59Z

Game feels good to play, and I think it's quite unique. Really smooth and enjoyable gameplay, it was a fun experience! Shooting was fun and the positioning of your player to fall down the levels to shoot more was great. I did, however find it quite hard to get on a roll, then the roll ended too fast for my liking. Thing to improve: the audio could be improved, and a 3 hearts system for account for the difficulty (easy 3 hearts, medium 2, hard 1), and maybe a better control scheme (to make it easier to play). It is a great game and it was fun to play!

Party Animal by puntocom 2020-04-23T09:37:33Z

I like how you move slower past other characters and how the different events overlap, it adds complexity rather than a step 1, 2 etc to the game. I spent a better deal of time playing this than other games meaning it commands attention and gets you a bit hooked! I found the game interesting and fun! Well done! (P.S. Good to see you've credited the assets, but do consider opting out of a category or two if the assets are mainly from other sources.) Edit: I was so glad to see a game with a decent tutorial (took a bit of figuring out but I was glad it showed you all the scenarios you would have to deal with).

Roboson Crusoe and the Spiders from Muranus by Semmler 2020-04-21T00:58:08Z

Pretty cool! Definitely liked the day/night changes when you went around the planet.

Vestige by BitPokit 2020-04-24T01:59:17Z

Good game! I had great fun playing it! The idea of the platform being your health was inspired, it meant that losing health didn't just bring you closer to losing, but the likelihood of losing increased due to the lower play area. It's fun and it's music to my ears to hear you're going to develop it into a fully fledged game! I hope you continue with the great writing, add some more complex sprites (the player one is good, maybe try a transition between squashed/ducking rather than two frames) and some audio related to the gameplay (smash etc). Also, I found it confusing when you had to hit enemies twice; you thought you had hit them, they disappeared, but then reappeared right behind you, so try and make it obvious that they're still there (I got used to it eventually and it kept me on my toes so that's good). Great audio and the feedback feel when you hit enemies was good! Am excited to see it published (but take your time though, quality will take your game far)!

Feed The Fire by Nuanda79 2020-04-24T08:13:20Z

Really great game! I managed to win and I had fun getting there! Innovative, and I like how items appear in the dark when you have your light in a different area, it adds a very dynamic feel to the game environment. Improvements: I didn't really understand where my looking light would go off (or shrink really small) and come on randomly. The graphics are really cool and, alongside crisp, well layered audio, I think it's a good entry and really well made!

Rebooting Flowers by Haoro 2020-04-27T09:04:03Z

Pretty cool first game! The writing was really good. I noticed how great the water dispenser was graphically with the blue capsule inside, encased by a clear capusule for the glass/plastic. I thought that was quite cool and unique. The instructions were also clear. Definitely try to spice it up with another mechanic that adds something more to the game, because it does need it. A great start to your game development! Well done!

Firekeeper by Minrato2 2020-05-12T10:38:21Z

Really good game! I played right to the end and it was great all the way! I enjoyed the gameplay overall, platforming and watching for traps. I felt really invested in ensuring the safety of my character, while not going too slow that the fire died out (the sticks were quite helpful then). It was actually quite intense when I got to new areas and was closer to completion (but the fire was running low), as I really wanted to keep going until I won. It worked really well! All the badges and how they helped you get to new areas was well planned and designed! They worked really well and gave a clear and helpful indication of progress! The high jump badge was obviously important, but the one that made your light bigger was really good too (as I could see further ahead). This game is really well made! Some improvements could involve making sure the audio doesn't cut slightly and loops smoothly. Also, that blue tree in your pictures looks really good and its texture and similar textures on the rocks and branches throughout the level would add to the art beauty. While you had to complete the game in a timely fashion, some more focus could be placed on the fire to help with the theme. But really, these are just small ideas/improvements that would just add to this really good game of yours. To summarise, the mood and atmosphere is amazing and really captures you and I think you've done an amazing job! Overall, your game is great and well made! I had fun and it was a really cool experience!

P.S. I think I'm the 100th person to rate so well done, I'm really happy for you! (We are also really close). All the best with your game and the score reveal tomorrow!

Heart Combustion by Head Tilt Games 2020-04-28T03:11:25Z

Great game! It was satisfying to destroy the meteors. Great tutorial, felt separate to the game and a good way to introduce players. The gameplay was fun and the graphics were amazing (especially the flaming meteors)! Combined with the audio, the mood was great! It was so satisfying to watch from distance (see my screenshot, and great to get in amongst the tower defense, quite a unique turn. I found the game enjoyable for a good amount of time. Advice/ideas: when firing the turrets yourself, I would making them have more punch visually. I would also speed up the pace of the game a bit, and have more diverse hazards (but you've done well with the different sizes). Overall, a really great job and this game is amazing! Well done!

Social Distancing For LadyBugs by mehrdadsh 2020-05-11T12:00:04Z

Nice game! Simple and fun! I found it intuitive and enjoyable especially with the atmosphere from the graphics and sound! A simple highscore, infinite game loop works well and you've executed it well here! I think a good addition would be a bonus of sorts when you swat lots of bees at once. So you have to optimise when you're going to swat (when they're grouped together) against when you really need to in order to keep the bug numbers down. Some more diversity in gameplay would spice it up a bit (a bit more game feel and even new bugs as the game goes on). Also, the audio loop appears to cut a little to obviously rather than loop which is a though for next time (this may have been my end so ingore that point if it does loop properly for you). I liked the way the bees moved, the random nature almost seemed natural, and it was an immersive experience. Overall, great job, and you've clearly put in the work and the result is really good. I like the name of your game, and it really suits the theme. When I say theme here, I mean the Ludum Dare one and how it ties appropriately with the present global situation without going to far. Hence, you've done very well done in this aspect. Great game and well done to you!

Keep It Charged by LaZZyDev72 2020-04-20T23:28:27Z

This game is really good! Great puzzles, graphics, audio, and an overall mood! It's of the quality that I would pay money for this on, say, Steam.

STRAND·ED by S J Palmer 2020-04-24T05:13:46Z

Really great game! I was really confused at the start as to what health DNA was meant to look like until I understood the pairing system of the top and bottom indicators. After that I had a lot of fun! The difficulty is up there but that keeps you on your toes and means you have further progress with your skill (hence more playtime). Fits the theme perfectly so a high rating for that and overall!

Floccy Land by MikyDev 2020-05-08T10:38:49Z

Cool game! Really peaceful experience due to the nice graphics and audio. I quite liked it! It definitely needs some polishing though. The collisions felt weird and some more levels would be cool. But, of course, this is a jam, so great job. I really liked the animation of the character too! Great effort, well done!

Mr. Cheesy by SAVVU 2020-05-11T11:33:40Z

Brilliant game! I don't think I've seen a runner this Ludum Dare, but it fits the theme really well! The cheese and mouse theme is implemented well throughout and makes this game unique! I found it entertaining, fun, and liked the combination of graphics and audio (as well as them individually). The game feel is quite good too! Some improvements could involve increased visual diversity and more powerups to spice things up. I know you've already got to work on a lot of that for your mobile version so that's great! Great game, congratulations!

Well done on your Google Play Store publication! All the best!

Keep. The. Spike. Alive. by K4V0X 2020-04-28T00:58:49Z

I really liked the art style in this; unique and cool! The gameplay was pretty good. I played a bit and liked the diversity in the level! Controls felt a bit heavy, and the player moved a bit after I finished pressing them. Overall, great job, keep it up, this game is cool!

Last Light by LykaWolfie 2020-04-29T10:23:37Z

Really cool game! I enjoyed playing it! The mechanic of reduced movement, and no jumping while hiding the light, all while reducing the light's bar at a faster rate, was cool! Your music was fitting and of high quality! The game felt smooth although my player did stop moving randomly while I held the light. There were two particular monsters that I struggled to pass because there seemed to be no way past (they got me light on or off). Also, I would advise zooming out the camera so you can see the enemies easier. But the game is great! Its graphics are really good and the light is like the centrepiece; you can really tell when it is hidden, its like the world dies a little (good mood). Overall, a smooth feel and a very well put together game. Well done!

Keep `em alive! by SimanSimon 2020-04-23T09:20:13Z

Cool entry with some good depth. I reckon an instructional video would really help because I understood the concepts but didn't really understand how to play. Good entry though, nice work!

Yakka by MidnightMist 2020-05-12T00:54:23Z

Spectacular graphics! Great atmosphere and overall mood! The audio suits it (so good choice) and you've done a great job! The incorporation of your Sri Lankan culture is amazingly well executed! I liked the puzzle elements, and how you could interact with your environment! As for improvements, some polishing of the movement would be nice, and maybe adding a walkthrough (I got stuck at the man in the town) just for helping players get through. But really good job. All the elements of your game fit together well. Great job overall! Keep up the great work!

Retro Driver by TeamNova 2020-04-29T05:14:53Z

I found this game really fun! The car was smooth and easy to drive, and the audio worked well! It had a nice gameplay overall (especially the incredibly well done controls) and I felt you did a great job! Some improvements could be more Police cars chasing you over time would be good, and the AI could be more tactical (roadblocks etc). Also, the pause menu didn't stop the gameplay and the map could be much more diverse and the graphics could be upgraded (but I found them cool for the type of game so that doesn't really matter). Speaking of the map, I really liked that sneaky was through the middle of the map! Some marks on the ground and more audio could also be nice! But I had fun and that's the main thing! This game fitted the theme well and the 3D pixel-like art and film grain worked really well together. Overall, well done and great fun!

SAVE THE DINOS! by marcusnystrand 2020-04-21T00:44:15Z

Fun game! The dinosaurs mating and increasing in population is a great idea. The game is well polished and has great visuals. I really enjoyed playing it!

Pitcher and the Whale by sjandybae 2020-04-24T06:03:52Z

Very cute graphics and animation! The gameplay was fun but it was a bit annoying with the controls, but still fun! The idea of keeping the whale alive is really good. Maybe improve the explanation surrounding how the water falls out of the bucket because it took a while to get the hang of that. I'm also happy to see another Gamemaker game (very good engine). Really great job!

Save the torch! by eduardogacn 2020-05-10T02:03:33Z

Great game! Well made and well polished! I really liked the graphics and audio that created a nice mood overall! Its main mechanic was fun with how you throw the fire and have to pickup the flames, but you have to be holding the fire to do so. It adds depth to the game. The movement felt smooth. One improvement I felt would be nice was a different way to throw for greater accuracy (maybe using the mouse, but you might be wanting to only use the keyboard for your control scheme so that's all good). Really good entry overall! Well done and great work!

Catch The Mouse keep it alive by GameOverMexico 2020-05-10T05:12:57Z

Fun game! Appropriately difficulty and cute graphics and audio. I enjoyed playing it, and there was a great quantity of levels for a jam especially! I liked how the mouse would go back and forth and how the mushrooms acted. There were often multiple ways to complete each level. One thing I noticed was that you could wait for the big flying piggy bank to leave, and the level would be easier, but that is one tiny thing. I think this game is a really good entry! Well done and keep up the great work!

Edit: Well done on making this game so compatible with your porting and controls!

Friendly Fire by Revetoon 2020-04-24T23:45:19Z

Good game! I like how the fire gets bigger and burns down nearby trees, the compass, the lighting across the different areas, and the ground texture, all really cool! The game is fun and keeps you playing with exploration for new items in new areas. Improvements: item count perhaps, and a easier pickup system (bigger clickable area per item). Overall, I was happy playing it and it is a good entry, great job!

Propagate by ZipLockBagMan 2020-04-24T02:06:19Z

Cool game with nice burning effects and so on! I felt that the parts of each object should have the fire spread throughout them over a longer period of time, and I also noticed that not everything caught fire easily (realistic I guess). I liked the simplicity but did find it a bit hard (maybe it was the way I was playing it). Pretty cool game though and I enjoyed it! (Highscore: 11 seconds)

Answer to title: yes. Humorous but little else :) I'll admit, I went through every key, keeping it alive for a while!

Protect Your Princess by FPixel 2020-04-26T09:35:32Z

Good shield option and a good concept. The pixel art was quite cool. I enjoyed playing it for a bit, but the difficulty got to me quickly. Some difficulty modes would be good! I would advise you put the text on a canvas and centre it (in Unity). This means it should scale to the screen sizes. Overall, it has everything a game needs (menu, retry menu, instructions, graphics, but some audio would be good though). Just be sure to keep working on the main mechanic; if it was easier, it would be a lot better. It is still good in its current state though. Good work, keep going!

P.S. Be sure to mark the game as WebGL not Windows.

Hacker Escort by Barnox 2020-05-11T11:19:55Z

Pretty cool game here! I found your game smooth to play and it's very clear what your goal is! I'm glad to see you made it possible to damage the thing you're protecting, it's nice touch which turned out to be a very valuable mechanic! Some improvements could be to add some audio, some more graphic work, and an easier level (along with a bit more content). Maybe a wave system would work alongside a score counter. I feel the game needs some more zing which just needs more time. I can see some small and effective touches like the hacker's regeneration. Just adding more stuff overall into the game would really bump it up. The important thing here is you have everything you needed which is great! The AI worked really well as did all the pathfinding. I also quite liked the shooting, it looked really cool! You've done a good job so far so keep it up!

Survivalgo by despdair2 2020-04-25T02:25:40Z

Well done! You have made a really good game here! I found it fun and intuitive (just like your other game) and was happy to see the educational aspect to it. It would be great for you to expand this to teach players about more complex algorithms too (glad to see loops made it in)! Obviously, some more time is needed to polish and get things just right in a few aspects, but you had a small timeframe. Great effort!

AMBER by cakts 2020-05-11T23:43:47Z

This game is really good! I enjoyed playing it! The graphics were amazing and I found the pixel art really nice and consistent. The lighting was superb if not fantastic in how it casted shadows around the objects. All lighting during the day and night was spot on! All the graphics worked so well together and the audio combined for a really peaceful experience. It really felt like you have crafted a unique world with this game! The menu and font are great, and the ability to check the control at any time is helpful. The game is intuitive and well polished overall!

To improve this game, I would consider some more player feedback when you stoke the fire or pickup a log would be helpful also. At night, consider making the UI's health and wood numbers white (but keep them black at daytime as that worked really well). Some more mechanics (and music) would spice things up, like crafting weapons to take on enemies or whatever would suit your game.

Overall, this is a very good entry that fits the theme well. It feels unique and well crafted. The main mechanic works well and keeps you playing. All aspects work really well together and I'm sure you're really happy with it as it was a pleasure to play! Well done!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Woofice Chair! by JorgeGameDev 2020-10-25T03:33:18Z

This is an AMAZING jam game! Really well polished and it feels like something from the market! It was fun and had great graphics (beautiful colours and art style) and sound (music and sound effects worked really nicely together). I enjoyed playing it and enjoyed how you used the theme! I did feel there were a few too many enemies at the start however and I struggled to get going because the map was a bit small, but that's just me nit-picking. You have all done an amazing job! High ratings and I hope you make it to the leaderboards in two days time!

Edit: Great mood as well (five stars in that category)!

Edit Two: I forgot to comment on the core mechanic. I really liked how you could speed yourself up to stay in the game but you couldn't attack during that time. Having to stop accelerating to attack was a great way to introduce new techniques for the player to fiddle with. Your core mechanic is great and is (appropriately) the centrepiece of the game. It was fun to play with!

Loop Trap by Knatt 2020-10-23T21:53:31Z

Nice job! Your game was fun to play and I understood very quickly how to play it. I got to 1305. The audio was all right (some more sounds would have been nice) and the graphics worked, but the gameplay overall was the best part. I liked the strategy involved in rolling the ball and how the special abilities worked, it was a really good idea! The highscore table was a good addition, but most importantly, you did a great job of the core game loop as it worked really well and felt polished! You could polish the menu's presentation a little more, but I see this is a compo game so you would have been pressed for time (well done by the way, this is an amazing effort for a compo entry). I see two other people said they got trapped, but luckily that didn't happen to me. Well done overall!

Time Rider by tgiant 2020-10-19T01:15:33Z

Cool game! I liked the racing against your ghost aspect of the game. It was fun but I found the steering quite sensitive and crashed a bit. Overall, the game felt very smooth and well polished. Good graphics and great music. One thing was at the start of a race it says "ready, ready, go" instead of "ready, set, go," I'm not sure if that was intentional or not but that's just a very small thing. Good submission! Nice job!

waveloop by radmars 2020-10-20T02:53:23Z

Original idea! I liked how you interpreted the theme! I was confused as I thought I had matched the tracks and wavelengths correctly but it wouldn't let me advance (that's just me not really getting how to play the game). I liked how the audio worked with the gameplay and quite liked your splash screen. The audio and dark backgrounds created a good mood so I have given you good marks there. Overall, good effort (just some more instruction, even a tutorial, would be nice). :)

Stuck in a Hoop by Tunahead 2020-10-19T22:10:29Z

Cool game! The controls were very good and I had fun playing your game! I enjoyed the hoop mechanic and the sound effects were pretty good (some music would have been nice). The graphics were cool and I liked how the player is animated. The game felt pretty polished overall. Great job!

P.S. I did get this error when I lost once:

___________________________________________ ############################################################################################ ERROR in action number 1 of Step Event0 for object oPlayer:

Stuck in a Hoop by Tunahead 2020-10-19T22:22:35Z

@tunahead I can't remember fully, but I was jumping around crazily losing my lives quickly at one of those turret things (in the second level). Then I lost my last life and that's when the error appeared.

Loop City by bassguitarbill 2020-10-11T01:42:56Z

Nice graphics and cool sounds! I found the game enjoyable especially with the mood you created! The controls worked well but the steering was a bit hard to use especially when you got stuck on something. Good job overall!

Thank you for the feedback! I appreciate it all!

@teronk I'm glad you liked it (sorry for getting back to you so late)!

@stellarbeargames: I have no idea what that bug was sorry, it never appeared to me during testing. Thanks for playing!

@piscythe I am happy that tactic of surrendering parts of the screen came into play! I understand about the movement and will keep that in mind for future movement mechanics. Also, amazing highscore!

@jam373 @evangreenwood Thank you for the feedback and advice! @tex-killer says the sprite issue is to do with the graphics card and my sprite being to big (thanks for letting me know Tex Killer, hopefully I can fix that).

@mrtroy @tex-killer Yes, I think you're right: you can stand still indefinitely. I would probably add a falling item that cannot be disarmed by collecting it to force players to move around more.

Thanks again everyone!

IT Guy by Thooom 2020-10-11T01:56:24Z

Amazing art style and you have incorporated it so well into the gameplay by revealing the code in the background. The changing frames of the art made the game feel really alive! I enjoyed playing it but found the end a little unexpected however. Great job, I liked the code aspect!

Re:Live by Ciber_Turtle 2020-10-11T05:47:24Z

Five stars for the theme! Amazing interpretation that is well executed! I enjoyed playing the game and it was well put together. Nice music, great graphics, and a good experience overall. The only thing to polish would be the movement around buttons as it is sometimes a bit tricky to stand where you want to be without overshooting. Overall, brilliant game!

Loop Cure by pedrocoden 2020-10-19T22:01:48Z

This game is really good! It was smooth, fun to play, and the graphics (the focus blur was well executed and I liked how the players looked and were animated) and music was great! I think the theme could have been a bit stronger. This is a very good jam game with a good scope, and it was intuitive. I liked the menu (and the tutorial which was helpful) and really liked the font in particular! Overall, great job (high ratings)!

LABLOOP by causalpigeon 2020-10-20T03:04:52Z

This is a really good puzzle game! It was fun to play and intuitive, but not too easy. The graphics were nice and worked well with the audio, and the game felt reasonably polished. The gameplay was a tiny bit confusing at the start but I quickly got into it and I finished the game because I really liked the concept and wanted to follow through. You have interpreted the theme well, definitely uniquely and I gave you 5 stars for the theme because it is one of the best I've seen so far. You could improve the audio a little bit with some smoother sounds that aren't too high pitched and add some better feedback when you complete/lose a level. The pixel art worked really well. I think you have done an amazing job!

Neo by teronk 2020-10-19T01:02:28Z

Your game is very good! It was fun to play, innovative, and the graphics and audio were great (the graphics were especially good)! The controls were pretty good, if not a bit heavy, and I think all the other aspects came together well. It also created a good mood. Overall, great game and I have given it high ratings!

Bhoot && Toobh by pune007 2020-10-21T06:10:14Z

Very good jam game! Great effort for your time restrictions (it felt really well polished with the smooth transitions and clean graphics)! I enjoyed playing it and liked the music (especially how well suited it was to the game style). I liked the puzzling aspect and think it worked well. Something to add could be making the WASD keys control one character with the arrow keys for the other. In this case, the gameplay would still be the same, it just means if the player wishes to control the black character with the usual "left goes left" and "right goes right" logic, they can (and they can do the same thing with the white character, which is already the case). Effectively, the player can reverse the logic if they want. Additionally, I noticed sometimes my character got stuck on smooths walls (usually helped me to be honest) so there's just a few things to iron out there (and some of the levels were more about squeezing through small gaps by a matter of pixels rather than puzzling logic but that's fine). These are just ideas for what to add but what you already have is brilliant! Just to comment on the graphics, they were simple and effective (especially with how well you chose the colour palette). I also liked how the level colours were inverted yet the hazards (the spikes) were the same colour in both. (You interpreted the theme well too.) High ratings!

@pune007 You're welcome!

Stuck in a Loop by Lena Taylor 2020-10-11T01:48:00Z

I liked this game! Pretty good graphics, especially the player and enemy models, and a good get concise selection of weapons! It was fun to play although I would have liked the normal enemies to be more aggressive towards the player and the weapons could have been more indicative as to their attack effects (range etc). The menu was good to see and the game was very fun to play! I always enjoy these top down shooters! Great job!

Edit: Great interpretation of the theme!

2-KLN by Frederik Boye 2020-10-05T22:03:54Z

This game is really good! It works with the theme and is pretty fun to play. The game feels VERY polished and smooth (I did fall out of the house once but that was because I was smashing the lamp around in the spawn room). One thing to note is that the splats can sometimes be hard to find when they appear at weird angles on surfaces, but they were fine most of the time. You have combined the graphics, audio, and context of the gameplay to communicate a great mood! I liked how the music sped up as the timer got close to zero, that was a nice touch. I enjoyed playing it, well done!

Ballroom by StellarBearGames 2020-10-19T01:07:13Z

Very cool! I liked how the story was quick and worked well no matter what happened. The instructions were clear (I wasn't sure at first when to push the arrow keys as I didn't see the arrow, but I understood pretty quickly). The graphics are nice and the music fits it really well which all creates a great mood. Overall, a very inventive idea that I enjoyed!

ASTROGAMEIA by HOM BRE 2020-10-11T01:51:44Z

You have created a really good atmosphere in the game, and the graphics work well together! I did find it confusing as to what I was meant to do however. Good effort!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Falling down from above by Sublustris 2021-05-07T11:10:06Z

Wow! Really well polished and quite fun! The graphics and music were clearly spectacular! I liked the gameplay (simple point and click is always a good bit of fun, especially for a game jam game) but did find it a bit of a pain to predict if I could survive some gaps (but that's just me). The game fits the theme well with the underwater environment and avoiding the enemies was intuitive. You should be really happy with this entry as it is really well constructed, and it plays well!

Boombox by auxC 2021-05-04T06:09:54Z

Fantastic game! Best one I've seen so far! I really liked the graphics, the mood, the gameplay, everything really. It's great that you managed to do this all in one game jam (good teamwork played a part I would think). I found the game fun and well balanced and really liked the key in the hole mechanic (especially with the time restraint) and how well you fleshed this out to add depth to the later game. One thing I would add is an option to invert the rotation direction as I sometimes became a bit lost while navigating the box. 5 stars!

Deep Blue by Jiri Hysek 2021-05-05T04:05:12Z

Amazing game! I really enjoyed playing it! I finished the game and I think you did a great job (especially with the compo rules). The graphics are great and I love how all objects have a small swirling effect from the water. The colour theme is great (especially with how the light works with everything) and all the visuals come together consistently. The game was of good length and I really liked how you posted that zoomed out view of the map on Ludum Dare's main page. The gameplay was smooth and was appropriately tense. The controls were simple which meant the player could be more creative about how they navigated the map. The atmosphere was spectacular too!

The only thing that confused me was when the second massive fish with the light in front of it attacked me, I either respawned in a place I didn't recognise (I couldn't tell if I had died or dodged it) or it pushed me somewhere I didn't know, but that didn't stop me from getting to the end. Also, sometimes the character would spin in the opposite direction to obtain your desired look direction which was a small pain. For example, if you were moving south-east and changed to moving south-west by releasing the "D" key and pressing the "A" key, the player would rotate anti-clockwise (270 degrees) instead of the shorter clockwise (90 degrees). This meant the light was pointing in the wrong direction for a second so it was harder to see where you were going. But these are very small things to point out. Overall, 5 stars by a mile!

Layers Of The Unexplored by Colin Misbach 2021-05-16T10:44:43Z

Good effort! I liked the graphics especially (the shapes, colours, and lighting are simple, but work together really nicely)! At one point, my PC (which has a good GPU) even slowed down when I was here:

Capture.PNG

I liked the main mechanic of splattering the jumping enemies as it was intuitive and fun (and also satisfying with the sound effect).

Anyway, onto the constructive feedback. I think some more audio effects would be nice and some better direction for the player (I had to pay close attention so I didn't go backwards). I found the movement a bit slow and the inverted mouse was annoying (for me at least).

Overall, the game is good-looking and is a good entry! Nice job!

Block Attack by Emperor Eagle 2021-05-07T10:37:42Z

@lorwon and @sentmoraap Thank you both for the feedback! Sounds like fun is a good theme in my game! I agree with you regarding the speed. I have got to do some calculus to make the speed increases more linear (technically they are linear but the I'm changing a rate of change (speed) needs tweaking). I'll see what I can do about the pattern and impossible gaps (I will decide whether that is a lower max speed so they are always possible, or a guaranteed max 4 block movement for safety). Thanks again!

Block Attack by Emperor Eagle 2021-05-09T08:39:54Z

@xxatrain223 I agree with you regarding the max steps per line (I will likely make changes there for post-jam stuff).

@hilda-hay Thank you for noticing that! Glad you liked my music choice!

Thank you both!

Block Attack by Emperor Eagle 2021-05-10T01:25:58Z

@exilegl Thank you! I originally considered making movement mouse based: just point where you want your player to go. Maybe I'll play around with that.

@aune @elvendan @hunter-x @bmacintosh @lilkrit @gucio-miszcz Thank you for the reviews! All the best for the results on Wednesday (or whenever they come out in your part of the world)!

@aune My thoughts were the same at the start, although more people have tended towards sea-exploration interpretations :).

@elvendan Glad you liked it!

@hunter-x Yes, I did that with the scoring on purpose (so it didn't feel too linear) :).

@bmacintosh Thanks for the advice, maybe I'll make them pulse slowly when they're not being used, and flash when the player teleports.

@lilkrit Thank you!

@gucio-miszcz I'm glad you had fun!

Deep Sea Mining by Ausstein 2021-05-15T07:19:47Z

Really good game! I really liked the graphics and sound; they were clean, polished, and looked/sounded really good! The gameplay was fun and I really enjoyed exploring deeper and deeper. The underwater world was really nice, and it was cool how the progression system tied into with exploring it through mining different chrystals, and being a more confident explorer. It reminds me a bit of one of my previous jam games I made with a friend where you mine similar things on the moon and trade it for oxygen. I found the shooting mechanic a little underwhelming and a bit hard to use (although I was using my laptop's mousepad), but the squid AI worked really well. Overall, great game, and I hope you get a good score for it because you deserve it!

Happy submarine by Rubyes 2021-05-16T10:24:58Z

This game seemed simple at the start but kept me playing for quite a while (800m+ by which point I couldn't find a way to go deeper that easily). You have created a really good mood. I was captivated by the near horror-game-like atmosphere (I gave you a good rating for "Mood"). As I progressed deeper and deeper, I felt more scared. I feel the audio effects were a bit subtle, so try and increase their volume so they can have a greater effect. I liked the graphics of the fish and the submarine, but the water and rock could use a little more work. You could add a few extra visual effects to add some detail. The cone of vision was really good and added to the horror-like vibe as I was terrified to see that massive fish coming right at me just as I was getting near collecting a crystal. Obviously your game meets the theme well so well done on that point.

Some notes I made was that I didn't appear to lose any crystals when I bought an increased depth upgrade which may be because I purchased it from an earlier station. Also, the cone of view is cool as I said, but it jumps when you turn 180 degrees/over the main axis. I had a third one but I forgot it so nevermind :). Actually, here's a third thing: you could make interacting with the world more visually obvious (like a drilling animation for example).

Overall, this is a good entry but some polishing would definitely make it better. Well done!

Fight Your Fears by SkelleRoznik 2021-05-16T09:51:53Z

Five stars for mood! Really good game! I loved the graphics and how all the simplistic shapes were layered with the nice gradients. The blood splats were really cool too. Your audio was fantastic yet quiet and I really liked how peaceful it made the whole game. I played it right through to what I assume was the end (the sunny scene with the house and no exits). I enjoyed my experience and hope you enjoyed developing it. One thing I felt could be polished more is the movement. Maybe it could feel a bit smoother (some ac/deceleration perhaps) and the collisions could be more accurate (you can cling to the sides of some blocks, although this saved my life once). But overall this is a really good game in all aspects! Fantastic entry!

The Ocean Depths by ziggykac 2021-05-09T08:59:00Z

Nice game! I liked the ambience your music created! The controls and movement (particularly how you sink at a constant rate) made it feel like I really was a fish underwater. It was enjoyable to play. However, I suggest you check if the movement is normalised (i.e. whether you cover a greater distance moving diagonally rather than straight). It's not that this is a problem, I just felt like I sped up when I moved diagonally which you may not have intended. I feel that some bubbles and some extra decorations would be great to go against the blue water background (because sometimes it was hard to tell if you were moving). Also, some more instructions would be helpful. But overall, I think this is a good jam game with nice graphics and a peaceful soundtrack all in a peaceful location. The game was concise, simple, and inviting. Great job!

The Hidden Unknown by CubeX 2021-05-01T01:46:17Z

Consistent UI and graphics (I particularly liked the post-processing). The atmosphere sounded good with the cave sounds you had in the background (although some more sound effects like when you hit the ground, and when blocks crumble would have been nice). Sometimes I would fall through the rocks. I assume that is because you fall through some at the start of the game and some bug from that is playing through into normal gameplay. The core gameplay of moving your mouse (very smooth) and removing rocks was very good! The movement was all right, but you often got stuck on the walls. I didn't mind getting stuck though as I could use it to propel myself up easier. I found the cube/square at the bottom of the game which gave me a sense of accomplishment! Overall, good game, but some more features would be nice!

Also just realised this was a compo entry so an extra well done!

One Deep Fall by laurenloco 2021-05-01T01:53:33Z

Nice game! It was easy to learn, quick to play, and pretty fun! I liked how the graphics were drawn as well. Sometimes it was very hard to get through certain gaps and your abilities haven't recharged yet but I guess it's up to the player to time those well. I think some extra pickups like coins could be added to boost your score and to give the player another goal as well as pure survival (i.e., do they risk it for some extra points?). Overall, nice job!

Here is my high score:

image_2021-05-01_135140.png

Dropdown by Alexio Games 2021-05-07T10:58:32Z

Well done! Concise, simple, and fun to play! I liked how the character spun around because it looked cool and it was fun to land on the blocks at specific angles (just something that amused me). What's already in the game is quite well polished. The scene layout is great (the game in the middle with writing on either side) and your consistent graphical design is on point (what I mean is the fonts, the cute cat, and the rest of it all fit together pretty seamlessly). However, a bit of extra stuff to add zing would be really cool. It doesn't even have to be extra mechanics (although that would be nice, like trampolines that can be annoying or helpful depending on your situation for example), but some sparkly graphical additions would be nice. Of course, you have to be careful with adding stuff to a game at its current stage because you don't want to ruin how concise it is. Also, the speed change was fun, but a tad sudden. But I enjoyed it and think it is a great jam game! Overall, solid job!

P.S. My game is sort of similar to yours if you wanted to give it a run :).

Highly Successful Research Submarine by James Macgill 2021-05-15T07:04:48Z

I didn't get past the sub building part but I still quite liked it! The game has a LOT of depth (not a pun, just saying it starts with a good story and there are lots of ways to build your submarine). I found the UI a bit hard to use (although I got used to it), and struggled to build the sub properly. First I went over budget, then I couldn't figure out how to align all the essential rooms so that they connected correctly. The graphics were nice, especially the detail of the rooms. Hopefully next time you can throw together some audio. Overall, it's really ambitious but you've managed to pull if off surprisingly well so I've been left quite stunned (especially after looking through the screenshots and comments of how other players went). I can see this game growing to something really good! Well done!

Memeco 0.02 by LeYaoTang 2021-05-08T00:33:47Z

Interesting environment and the graphics worked well together (especially the black and white). Unfortunately I did not understand how to play the game. Some instructions would be great. I got to the second room but was stuck and didn't know how to proceed. Good effort though!
