I didnt manage to play it longer than 2 minutes. It is still the same. But the graphics is nice.
Loved the mood and color palette
Nice pixel art. To improve i would make the mechanics slightly harder by penalizing the player for hitting the wrong key for example. Overall nice game.
Pretty polished.. but needs a bit of variety .. well done
Amazing graphic, but no gameplay what so ever needs a bit of improvement
Nice! Graphics are great and I like the idea. It could be more obvious when characters are taking damage though
Very well executed, I had a lot of fun with the music and the lines of the characters, but I confess that the mechanics were very repetitive and boring.
Beautiful! Short but really polished and effective. I like the existence of a backstory and I just love the music. I think it would be even cooler to see more things happening in that scene. Great piece
Great graphics and concept ! Should be a little harder ;)
Graphics are wonderful. Gameplay is simple but well executed, although a bit boring. Maybe adding more constraints on when buttons should be pressed/how many times would help?
Polished art and animations, everyting is very simple - all parts of the game, but nothing is bad :) Game is little bit short, but who will play it for 20 minutes :) So you invest some time into humor part so for me is plus :)
Nice enty :)
Graphics and color palette are wonderful. Gave me the Expendables vibe successfully. Gameplay can be last long but it looks improvable. Overall its a very polished entry. Thank you!
I see a lot of people saying there is a lack of gameplay, but not very many giving suggestions. I think you could have different levels (y, so up and down, if that makes sense) where enemies came in, and you only had to mash a key if there was an enemy there, as well as getting punished when you shoot somewhere an enemy isn't. That way, the game also takes some brainpower and multitasking (instead of just mashing), and it would be way better.
awesome graphics! I feel like this could've been set up as a rhythm game where you have to shoot to the beat of the music or something, but otherwise its a great set up!
Cute pixel art, glad to see you didn't neglect the gameover, as I imagine most would easily beat this game with all four surviving. However, I find it kind of of defeats the purpose of the game if you can win with a single troop left. Also might be a bug that if your troops die, sometimes they still keep talking (maybe they are just resting on the floor? haha) Hope you end up turning this into someting more immersive, but good work!
Really mood setting game with those nice graphics combined with good sounds. I though have to say that it was kind of a pleasure to hammer down that many keys on my mechanical keyboard xD!
Simple, effective. Art is good, hammering on my keyboard was satisfactory : ) Good job
Nice job! Although the gameplay is kind of simple it still is good fun and the great sound and art make up for it! Overall very polished and pretty enjoyeable!
p.s. It looks like some funky compression happened to your enemy sprites at the last cutscene, I've had a similar problem before and it could help to export your sprites at 10x resolution or so to get rid of this (I'm not entirely sure though)
Interesting idea, great art. Well done.
Loved the music track and the pixel art! It was really easy to win tho
very good, I liked it
Really cool Idea after all. Very focused and to the point, loved the little story that was going on.
Ah my fingers! :P Neat idea and a good level of polish!
Very simple gameplay, but the graphics were really great and the music worked really well! I could actually see this turning into something like a rhythm game
Love the character sprites!
Loved the art, definitely agree with other that it was a bit easy. I would suggest something like enemies that require single-press grenades (spacebar?) that come in from time to time to throw a wrench in the level.
Overall good job!
Nice simple game. Love the art style.
Loved the graphics. Music also fit it really well. The only thing was that it felt a bit too easy. A very solid little game overall with sweet idea behind it!
Simple and polished!
Really love the art especially those sprites who were moving their foot up and down. The sounds too were cool. Love it!
Cool graphics, could use more waves or some more enemy types, other than that very nice and polished!
Really good pixel art! Really simple but effective mechanic, music really fit the feel of the game. Maybe some sound effect would work really well but great job overall!
the pixel art and the animations were too cute, easy gameplay and a lil boring. loved the overall experience tho.
Very good game. Lovin' it!
Really love the art, but gameplay is a bit lacking. Could use more variation in game mechanic, maybe keeping each button at a certain level instead of just spamming. Also, I think this could really benefit from game feel techniques. It was difficult to know if you are actually doing anything because they shoot even if you aren't pressing anything. Could see a lot of potential in this!
Hmm... Nice game, bad gamepaly... I mean were is it?
Loved the visuals! The game is very well executed, but it lacks of variety and when more than 2 soldiers die, it is pretty the same all the time! Some sounds fx for the shots and some more feedback would have been great! Anyway congrats on that polished game, great work!
Top tier pixel art, using a mechanical keyboard I can see why you didnt need to include shooting sfx  I played it a 2nd time and let 3/4 die to see what would happen, but there didnt seem to be any kind of increase in difficulty. Either way, a neat little game, lots of polish!
Intresting gameplay with cool controlls!
@alex-adedge god.. finally someone realize it why i didn't include the shooting effect :relieved: when i play test this game my dad told me that my keyboard is so damn loud. this make me think why should i add it, if you already have the natural sound
there is no changing difficulty at all.. spend most of time on graphic and didn't have to for it. anyway, Thanks for playing :thumbsup_tone2:
The game is really beautiful, and the music gives a nice mood :) Maybe the gameplay could be a bit more interesting, with ennemies requiring different tempo and changing which key to press during a stage, because right now you can just mash all the keys for the entire game X) But I understand you spend most of the time on the gorgeous art than on the game design Also, since you don't use the key "a" in your game, you could map it to the "q" key, so azerty keyboards don't have to change layout to play ;)
The sprites and animations are veeeeeery good! But the gameplay is too simple and gets repetitive fast
@amazura Haha priceless
Reminds me of the old sports games, that controlling mechanic works every time! Now it just needs more progress and stuff to experience.
I just pretended that I was playing the music while pressing "QSLP" Cute graphics and story. Played through twice to see if there was any difference, and yes- the keys needed were different! My favorite line:
damn.jpg
Great work and thanks for the game!
Great graphics and sound!
I liked the art and animations, but the spelling was off, and the game was a little boring. Maybe add screen shake when an enemy dies and/or particles effects?
the game looks great. characters and enemies look badass. i think the game mechanics could do with refinement, as it doesn't really feel like we're doing much except hammering keys. some sound fx and aiming would make it feel much more satisfying to play. i like the dialog you've included as well, nice touch!
The animations are great. Loved the color scheme and the chip-tune music. Great job!
A couple of little things: The time before the first wave of enemies just felt a little long of sitting there without doing anything. It might be nice that a second before the next wave arrives the QSLP are highlighted, with say yellow background, to show what keys you have to press in the next wave coming.
Overall well polished, good quality music, and what you've implemented seems to be pretty bug free. Would like to see more stages with different variations on the existing mechanics.
loved the animations and the music. also it was simple but fun, my fingers were spazzing on the keyboard
I loved the aesthetic, the music and the amount of polish in this game! The dialogue was also a nice touch! The game mechanic however is not very challenging although I can see it becoming more interesting given some more time to make it more complex. Overall a nice finished game but uite simple.
Pls make street scene too. It will be cool if you add some punishment to pushing keys that are not active at that time, in this version if I keep pushing all 4 buttons, I don't have to look at the game to play it. Also, some variety through fights can be good like switching sides during attack and so on
Nice game! It wasn't really a challange and losing some of the men didn't really have an effect other than that it got easier, since i didn't have to mash that many keys anymore :D The art was nice, but the pixel scaling on the web frame was a little off. The cutscene at the end was a bit slow, too. Other than that, nice little button masher.
Pixel art is cool, and i like the dialogs, very well write and fun. The principe is repetitive but its a small game so that's good, maybe you can add rythm game/typing game feature or other thing to vary. i passed a good moment ! Good job ! thyye.jpg
Lovely art, and the polishedness of having cutscenes etc was really impressive with the time limit!
Were there more mechanics than just hitting the buttons? I couldn't tell if each level made me mash faster or if it was the sam every time. It would've been cool to have more of a skill-requiring element, like if it needed specific timing or something. Still, really polished little game!
Ab3o1ute1y broke my keyboard here.... Wa3 fun while it 1a3ted though :)
Kee9 it u9, mate!
Cool concept. Thought for a moment that my keyboard is gonna break.
Keep up the good work!
Pretty fun game. The art, music and gameplay really had a marriage on this one. Wished there were sound effects. Good game!
Nice scenes, music, and mood. Gameplay is on the dry side. Having some kind of penalty for misfiring could help. Maybe make the player hit a separate key to reload if they fire too much out of timing. Really polished game overall. Just needed a little more content.
I really like the polish and the art style. there is a definite high level of competency. My only nitpicks would be that the game play has no penalties for wrong keystrokes and that the grammar needs a bit of work.
All in all though, this is an excellent submission. Great work! I look forward to seeing your entry next Ludum Dare!
This was nice! The art was very good and consistent, and you picked clever way to apply the theme. I appreciate that! My only suggestion would be to penalize the player if they go overboard on the character's health. Forcing the player to thread that health bar would add an extra layer of challenge. Very well done, and thank you for sharing!
First I wanted to say... I like that you put the HTML5 tag on your cover image. Trying to track down games I can actually play as a Mac user, I wish that everyone did that or it was incorporated into LD somehow. I'll have to remember to do that next time.
As for bugs, my "Q" shooter died the first round but continued to talk for my whole game.
Also (this is common with these games) your fullscreen button doesn't scale the game. I guess you used one of Unity's default HTML template? They have better ones that will scale with the window size, I think the one I used was just called "A better HTML template". Just a quaility-of-life suggestion.
For the gameplay, I wasn't sure exactly how much you were suppose to tap the buttons, at first I thought you were suppose to keep the bar right in the middle, but I guess you're just supposed to go as fast as possible all the time? I guess that's why two of my guys died right away.
Maybe the game would be more interesting if there was a "target" area in the middle you had to remain in, and going outside that means you "miss" the opponents.
Anyway, I do love the concept and almost the entire execution. The graphics and music are pro quality, among the best I've seen in LD, ever. Good work!
Nice game. I wish the gameplay had a bit more – as it is, I could beat each round by simply spamming QSLP all the time. It would be more interesting if there were penalties for pressing the wrong buttons, and if the button combinations changed within a round.
This game is murder on my fingers but I finished it. The concept is cool and the graphics is pleasant to look at. Energized music is well-chosen as well.
However... I will be honest - it would be much more of a game and much more of a challenge if you would have to press only chosen buttons when the light up, for example. The way it is, it's just a button mashing simulator  - no real challenge, just need fingers of steel.
Also, your text needs some work, corrections. Many sentences are not capitalized, punctuation is poor at times and there are mistakes (like: "to all unit" instead of "to all units"). Some dialogue also goes by too fast, in my opinion.
But I didn't notice any bugs and everything ran smoothly!
For a game that seems so simple, it took quite some time to understand it. Maybe the bars can drop down slower and the game can just reset when they all drop to zero. I did eventually manage to beat it, but I would have liked the visuals to be reflective of what the player is doing. If the bar drops to zero, why not let the guy die (that happens after the round anyway)?
Graphics and music are a blast! But it really gets old veeeery fast
Really loved the graphics and presentation, though some sounds for when characters shoot would be nice. I also have the same issue most people seem to - the game is really simple, and short. Normally that's not too bad for a jam game, but you can win by just mashing Q, S, L, and P, so the gameplay doesn't feel very engaging. A possible improvement would be if you had to figure out which guy to use based on the enemy type, instead of them only being available if there's an enemy for them to hit. Still, not bad, but could use something more.
Nice art and music. More variety would have been cool.
It's a little bit sad that the gameplay is just button mashing. You had nice pixel art, a cool music and fun dialogs but I feel like the gameplay part was lackluster and a little bit annoying to be honest
It would have been nice to have a touch more complexity to manage. Civilians forcing you to avoid shooting, needing to pause shooting to reload... But for sure for just one guy it's still a great job, a beautiful little game :)
Great pixel art and animations! Fun story too. I think there was a bug where S and L did not work on wave 4 or 5. Great jam though. Good job!
Loved the sprite animations, especially the lighting effects from the muzzle flash. I thought once the lift started going down there was going to be a moving/scrolling level shooting out left/right depending on the playment of enemies, that'd be cool.
I guess since there's no 'death' , a more dynamic control would be to have QP as 'SHOOT' and SL as 'DUCK/COVER' , that'd add more fluidity/ realism, as your guys wouldn't just be absorbing bullets with no consequences!
Beautiful art! Needs a bit of an upgrade to the gameplay mechanics though, now there was nothing to do really (just smash all the keys all the time).
I like the idea. The graphics and souund are also nice. One thing I noticed is that there is no penalty for letting the guys die. I let 3 of the for die and then just spam one button, it is easier that way and the best strategy, i assume. It should get harder when one of them dies. Other than that. Very enjoyable :)
Cute game, and fantastic pixel animation. Gameplay could obviously benefit from some variety or challenge, but hey, it's nice to look at and engaging with the dialogs. That's certainly good enough for 3 minutes of entertainment. Well done!
You owe me a new keyboard! :D Love the graphics and funny dialogs. One minor issue (with the web version, can't test the windows build): Full screen mode isn't really full screen. Game keeps its resolution and is displayed in the upper left corner instead. Game should be scaled to the screen size when going into full screen.
Quite polished but it is missing a lot. Nice pixel art! But the gameplay is a bit boring and there is no challenge in it. Other than that, I liked the story aspect of the game. Decent entry!
Very nice graphics, but there's not much in terms of gameplay.
Some very simple improvements would be nice: punish players for pressing the wrong buttons. Change buttons to press more often, change them to various characters. Hm... I think I'm turning your game into a typing game.
In any case, well done.
Also, my hands hurt now
Well executed game but a bit too easy I think. Other than that, nice aesthetics and music. Well done!
short and sweet!
I love the music. That one is going to be stuck in my head for a bit!
Very nice graphics and catchy chiptune music!
The gameplay is simple and would likely benefit from some added twist - I just mashed all the buttons at all times, it would be fun if there was some sort of strategy or choice when playing.
Great graphics and very simple mechanics. Would be great to have series of level with different gameplay.
Excellent pixel art and music. I love the dialogues. However, there is no game. It's just aimlessly mashing 4 buttons when enemies appear.
Great entry, especially for a single person! The art style was spot on, cute pixel graphics with nice animations :) The gameplay reminded me of that pikachu game from Pokemon Stadium and the Nintendo 64 ;) Music was nice and I enjoyed the little storymode
if you continue to work on this, I think it would be great if you'd make it so the buttons you need to press change during the wave or in general add more quicktime events :) and maybe make it less strict on the speed of the button hitting ;P
Again, great work for a jam all alone!
The music really made this game for me :) Was fun to play, but waaay to easy (I realize this is just a time issue, I'm sure you have plenty of ideas to expand upon this!). I expected a different scene at the end when they were found, and I was looking forward to it, but unfortunately the game was already done ;) I would have loved to be able to press one of the buttons to advance the dialogue, it was a bit too slow for me. The story could use a tiny bit more intro (just so that the player knows they're 1) in a bank and 2) waiting for a hacker to fix the lift, because now the progress bar is just a bar). Overall well done, thanks! :sunglasses:
Nice looking game with good audio. Gameplay-wise it was a bit dull, but the storytelling, animations and all the stuff was very nice. I think if you implement more gameplay with the same level of storytelling, it can get very good.
Really nice game! The graphics are great and the audio fits it all really well. It feels well polished and the writing is interesting. I do think it needs more mechanics or just more going on because it does get a bit boring. But I did enjoy the intensity the game had! Good work, I hope you add some more to it as this is already a good game! Great job!
A nice and short little button masher. The graphics look super cool even though there could have been a bit more blood for my taste. The cutscene was also really impressive. I was really hoping that the story would continue and I would have to fight on the street next. Really well done!
Charming little entry. :) The art and the music really sell the experience.
I wish I had a better idea of what was going on, though. There were a lot of bars filling up on screen, but I had no idea whether or not my actions were doing anything to affect them. Still, mashin' away at the keys gave me an opportunity for some well-earned frustration venting, so thanks for that!
This is not good for Tendinitis lol ... very fun game, good music, nice graphics, cute and funny mood. It is charming and pleasant. This feels a lot like a clicker mobile game but with the keyboard, which makes it a lot more tiring for me so I could not play it for long, all dudes started dying very quickly with me. Solid entry though.
The graphics and music are really good! I loved the little dialogues between the characters, this game has a mood. The gameplay gets boring slowly, seems repetitive, but i liked it. Overall, nice game!
Cool game. Looks really nice, and the music fits well. It's simple but really fun. It destroyed my hands XD. Nice job, really good entry!
Really fun button masher. I enjoyed it!
