LD46 — Keep it alive

Eggcelerate by TimBeaudet 2020-04-21T15:30:59Z

I had to keep trying until I made a lap :)! Perhaps a minimum speed mechanic, or a maximum allowed lap-time would be a good addition? Just to make sure you can't just inch forward and adiabatically keep the egg at it's potential minimum :nerd: Really awesome submission overall :D!

Substitute DJ by jayprog 2020-04-22T20:09:32Z

Awesome job :sunglasses: Having different crowds and mixing genres is a very cool idea, and well executed in the game too! Was fun to play!

The Cat's Journey by magnusfurcifer 2020-04-21T15:14:01Z

Great atmosphere in this game! I love how the level is different everytime, and my success really depended on having easier sections.. :P The dragging sometimes was a bit difficult, but that's just a minor but of polishing. I would be happy to hear more about this game! :)

Food Chuck by PeachTreeOath 2020-04-22T15:04:52Z

Really wacky but so much fun :D great sound effects, and an interesting graphical style (shader? :D) Well done :)!

Party Killer by Brackeys 2020-04-22T15:00:57Z

I also can't get it to play using my keyboard (not responding to A or X!). But I'll be back to try with controllers

Gino the Neutrino by Dark_Power 2020-04-22T15:14:27Z

The music really fit the mood of the game :) Very enjoyable to play, and has a ton of potential as an even further educational resource (anything from the particle zoo!). Overall really great :D

Olympus Rise - Greek it alive by RAC-Games 2020-04-21T08:02:50Z

Great atmosphere and overall a really solid and impressive jam game! Audio was great too. Had fun playing this :)!

Loco Locomotive by freso 2020-04-22T20:16:24Z

Cool idea! I struggled quite a bit with the first level, sometimes not having it start removing the first obstacle or not being in time with the second. A slightly simpler intro would've been good for me  On the other hand, this made it a good challenge! By the way, what is that first sound effect? :P

OVERHOSPITALIZED by Stacka 2020-04-21T14:15:05Z

Great concept, I enjoyed playing it! It wasn't very clear which items need to go to which people (icons) at the start though :D I would have loved the items to fly faster when thrown, they were a bit too "floaty" for me :) Great job overall!

Mutiny by Cataractar 2020-05-03T09:19:09Z

I was so close to the treasure 'at the end of the progress bar' (there should be a big X there ;)) Very addictive! I really liked the style of the graphics, but thought the pirate faces somehow were out of style a little bit? I'm just being picky here though, the style was really very good and I'm just listing things that came to mind. Of course, as many suggested before, sound would make the mood much better. Great concept with a *lot* of potential, I think! Thanks!

The Little Bakery of Horrors by RobotsAndMuffins 2020-04-21T07:53:32Z

Great idea! Awesome graphics and audio. Well done :)! I wish there would be a little more feedback when selecting actions (I took a while before I saw the cash & flour numbers change!)

Lich Clicker by Fictions 2020-04-25T10:42:16Z

I think the fact that I clicked 'keep playing' after reaching the initial storyline end says it all ;) Awesome work!

Pug Panic by Alex Davies 2020-04-21T19:55:57Z

This feels super polished, amazing! I agree with previous assessments in that it starts off a bit too difficult, but it definitely captures the stressful mood (those pop-ups! :|). Had a good time playing your game, thanks! :D Also, I am a positively inclined towards pugs this game jam... ;)

Dance Commander by detectiveLosos 2020-04-22T21:19:11Z

Cool graphics and nice beats :D The bouncer in level 1 really got me XD Good game overall though!

Also, a little bug perhaps, but if you walk to the bottom right corner you consistently fall through the level :)

Hope by Darylsteak 2020-05-09T11:08:30Z

Very nice! I had to finish it  I'm sure people have brought up these issues before, but there's so much feedback that I'm not going to check for that.. anyway, the main thing I noticed is that I wanted to have a skip button that would allow me to speed up the text scenes :) Some issues with going down ladders, but that could've been the WebGL version. The first puzzle was really good! Could probably have one before starts out a little bit easier, but even that might not be necessary. Overall a very solid entry! Thanks!

Homelette by Blix 2020-04-21T08:19:50Z

Cool idea! Timing the jumps is hard though, so I thought the level could have been a bit easier (omg that ramp & jump took forever! :P) Overall a really good job!

Horny Rhino by Hozoku 2020-04-21T17:02:55Z

omg those pink bottles >.< fun to play for a while though, satisfying shooting sound effects!

Exolvuntur by PxGluz 2020-04-22T19:28:17Z

What kept me going is that I wanted to read the notes and figure out more of the story! I would have liked some checkpointing like previously suggested too :) You managed to capture the right atmosphere, for me, at least ;) Not too creepy but with some nice bits of quick reactions required. Well done!

Open Fire! by Amazura 2020-05-03T09:41:23Z

The music really made this game for me :) Was fun to play, but waaay to easy (I realize this is just a time issue, I'm sure you have plenty of ideas to expand upon this!). I expected a different scene at the end when they were found, and I was looking forward to it, but unfortunately the game was already done ;) I would have loved to be able to press one of the buttons to advance the dialogue, it was a bit too slow for me. The story could use a tiny bit more intro (just so that the player knows they're 1) in a bank and 2) waiting for a hacker to fix the lift, because now the progress bar is just a bar). Overall well done, thanks! :sunglasses:

Goblin Adventure by DrSkort 2020-04-21T15:38:26Z

I really enjoyed playing this for a while, just to see what the next items on the 'do-this-next' list would be ;) The progression was a little slow for me, but the 'huh?' sound made by the goblin son was worth it! Great background music too. Simple mechanic, but it feels polished to me! Thank you :D!

Keep the LEVEL ALIVE! by magicera 2020-04-21T14:18:48Z

Nice concept indeed! Would be great if the dash could be cancelled, and sometimes I managed to get stuck to the boundaries of the level. This game has a ton of potential with a bit of polishing and audio! :D Thanks for submitting this!

Sunlit by palsina 2020-04-23T09:11:54Z

Amazing! You managed to set a great atmosphere with this game! This has so much potential :D I love the colors and the small effects (squirrel), though there could be more (blooming flowers sprouting at various points?). One suggestion I would have is to highlight everything that would be cut-off when you drag and hold a cut. I accidentally cut of way too large portions in the beginning (at the bottom, after my tree was already fairly high). Other than that, very addictive! Well done!

Friendly Fire by very dark lord 2020-04-29T21:07:31Z

One can tell immediately that this was made by gamers: you thought of a nice way to handle things when the first thing a player does is try to go the 'wrong' way and jumps into the water a couple of times  I love how this game has almost everything in terms of game elements! Upgradable skills (e.g. double jump), dialogue systems, etc. Really well done! The only thing I noticed, in this otherwise super nicely polished game, is some stumbling sometimes when walking on uphill slopes (hitbox issue?). Thank you for the experience

Blood On The Snow by Wolfrug 2020-05-03T13:34:31Z

Addictive and polished! Well done :D! Took a while for me to figure out the move & turn system, but after that it was a blast! I played the original submission and had some trouble with attacking after moving, but I saw that the post-LD version has a confirm  Perhaps some visual feedback when trying to click the actions when the dialogue is still going could help, since at first I thought some of the buttons didn't work correctly (minor thing, since it didn't take long to figure it out after all). Overall a really good submission, impressive! :sunglasses:

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-04-22T14:06:33Z

Kind of addictive! I love the ammo, and how the syringes stick to the enemies :sunglasses: very satisfying! With some pathfinding AI and a few more options (other weapons, other enemies and maybe an AI helper or so) this would be even better! :D Sound effects were very nice too btw. A jam well done!

IngloriousDISCO by AxelOlivier 2020-04-22T14:49:27Z

I really liked the sound effects :) The concept is cool overall too! I played for a few minutes, and found that the left and right side always alternate? Was I unlucky? Otherwise, it means you could already pre-type the next word :O Good for learning to type quickly indeed ;) well done!

Super Immunizer by kostasvs 2020-04-22T12:34:44Z

This is a really nice game! I enjoyed playing it for a while  There is actually a ton going on here technically, and everything feels very smooth. I would have liked a little more feedback on the shooting (especially something that makes hitting a target feel a bit more satisfying :P). The faces on the various cells are awesome, and that menu bass beat is really good :sunglasses: (the main game music is good too though! I did notice a slight mismatch when it started repeating). I almost missed the entire second part of the lung until I thought I must have had most of them, but ~300 were still left on the counter.. Oo Overall an awesome game!

BullShielder by Faiorb 2020-04-21T17:12:37Z

Felt a bit like ice-skating with a bull-dozer. But that's not necessarily a bad thing! :D I missed having a hit counter or some other indication of damage, and I felt that the cars shooting rocks made it very difficult (they started shooting before I could reasonably get to them quickly enough!). But it was fun zooming around with the bull-dozer, had a great feel to it! Thank you :D

The man who watches the time pass by TPZombie 2020-04-21T15:47:55Z

For such a short game, it was very touching and managed to set the atmosphere really well! Worth 5 minutes of your time :D

platformEGG by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-04-24T21:04:39Z

A bit difficult, but I couldn't stop until I finished it :) I didn't have so much of an issue with the controls, but though the circle-saws could have moved just a tad slower (to make the jump-reaction slightly easier!). Well done overall though!

MOTHER QUACKER by ZMVL 2020-04-21T11:02:57Z

Great style, I love the water shader and the terrain under the water. The controls were too sensitive for me, although to be fair I played with a trackpad and not with a mouse! So I also didn't have an easy middle mouse button  Awesome job!

Both or Nothing by victor_reiner 2020-04-21T11:53:55Z

Indeed has a great atmosphere! I also like that the simplicity of the interaction matches the length of the game, and can totally see how you would have thought of adding much more. Lots of potential! :D well done!

Paper Holes by Gehad 2020-04-22T15:02:49Z

Fun to play! :D My main comment: I felt like I should be able to go a bit closer to a hole before falling in (living on the edge ;)). Otherwise, awesome job!

The Last Guardian by civmaniac 2020-04-30T19:26:16Z

Very satisfying to hit monsters  (I think the sound effect does it for me!). This may well have been suggested before, but I would have perhaps liked an indicator of the tree's health! Overall it was quite addictive, trying to figure out the win condition. Well done! :tada:!

Save the Fish by Duck Reaction 2020-04-22T19:20:33Z

It took a while for me to notice the bulging eyes on Fish, but I instantly burst out laughing when I did! The sound effects are great overall, but I would have liked more fish-like sound effect for the 'game over' sound instead of a screaming.. uhm.. something? :D I guess it could be deliberate too, but the list of previous actions could be shortened by just showing the actions w/o Fish says at some point? It'll be hard enough at that point keeping track of it :p All in all a very fun game to play (and to compete with someone on how far they can get)! Great mood, great game!

Simple life and zombies by Niezoor 2020-04-22T08:42:11Z

Very smooth feel to the game, nice. I wish there was a bit more action though! Took a while anything to happen, and it seemed like I had to go out to the yard for zombies to even start appearing. The character creation was nice touch, but I never got to see anything that used my entered username I think. I enjoyed dragging and dropping the character around and seeing what would happen. The music quickly becomes repetitive, but overall it has a ton of potential! Thanks for submitting this!

LD 46 - Guinea Pug by Notredamstra 2020-04-22T12:18:26Z

Thank you for the kind words @magnusfurcifer! And thanks for picking up on the in-game ragdoll humor @majk-fl @m0dsat @humphreysmedia  @demontoon haha yes, you can blame me for the music

LD 46 - Guinea Pug by Notredamstra 2020-04-23T08:29:27Z

@jasonsumm1 Great idea :) I'll put page skipping on our list :sunglasses:

Thanks for the feedback @ondrasej! We initially did have a few handcrafted sections, and we definitely plan on going that route! The random generation was a result of having something more than just a repeating pattern, and as @anagf and @heyycap pointed out it is far from perfect. We made sure that the maximum gap size between tiles is fixed so that there are no impossibly large jumps, but the boost pads can still make things nearly impossible. Sorry! We'll make sure this improves! :D

Thanks for playing and streaming @jacksendary! Greetings from Copenhagen ;)

LD 46 - Guinea Pug by Notredamstra 2020-04-24T20:48:32Z

@annie-owl Congrats on getting that far! :tada: This is a bug that crept in at the very end, thank you for reporting it! We'll get it fixed :)

@blubberquark Wow, thank you very much for the detailed criticisms. Regarding the bones: the ragdoll came first, collectbles came second, and we somehow turned them into dogbones  Though with the 'clean-up' idea I think we sort of made it work, it is definitely something we can change. Thanks for the suggestion! Regarding your feedback: 1. Check 2. Yup! We had a system in place for that, but all we managed to 'hand-craft' in term of segments is the warm-up bit (with no holes). I blame this omission on time. 3. There are no raised blocks further down, just one or two more 'tile types' (shock & a first-person-view-for-5-sec). We did think of having obstacles flying accross the path that would bump you, but never got there. Thank you for this suggestion too! 4. Excellent idea :) We're planning to work on this a bit more, so thanks again for the detailed feedback!

LD 46 - Guinea Pug by Notredamstra 2020-04-25T18:53:06Z

@systematic Oops, good point! that was unintentional...

LD 46 - Guinea Pug by Notredamstra 2020-04-29T21:15:41Z

@chuchugeralt and @ch4oticau Happy to read that the game got a laugh from you  The trick jumps were something we were going for, but the random level generation unfortunately means you need quite some luck to get a good sequence.. will be improved upon hopefully!

Thank you for the suggestions @meelo! We tried having a few new things show up for people who manage to get farther into the game indeed. Unfortunately that is harder than it should be because of the random generation of the level (it took quite some effort to have this work still, because the level is 'random-but-with-no-gaps-larger-than-a-certain-value', and that gap finding & fixing algorithm took more time than I had hoped!). With some more time and effort, I am sure we can get a nicer contiguous path thing going, with a decaying block indicator in the UI  Thanks again for the suggestions!

Also happy to hear that you (@ch4oticau and @meelo) liked the music (my very first honest attempt at some composing ).

Baby on board by steambrain 2020-04-22T20:50:28Z

I like the humor in this game, and omg that win screen XD! Something that indicates the board's position in depth would be helpful, the perspective makes it tricky (and I feel that the game is mostly about quikcly operating, not so much the depth perspective?). Well done though! :D

Sleep-Rolling Pangolin by Khyrgrim 2020-04-21T16:57:25Z

The game looks great from the screenshot, but I am having trouble getting it to run on Mac OSX Catalina. I'm getting a "This app can't be opened" error, and I tried setting permissions properly etc (after some google-ing). Perhaps anyone here knows of a fix? I'll be back to try again!

Tumbleweed by Brenan 2020-04-22T15:08:35Z

Amazing graphics! Really sets a great atmosphere and mood :D! Like people before me I think the controls could be tweaked a bit, but it is definitely worth trying this game :sunglasses:!

S.L.I.M.E.S. Division by Yoshify 2020-04-23T08:38:04Z

One of my favorites so far! Very satisfying controls and sound effects, and nice visual and audio effects too! (perhaps a funny slime-scream when they are involved in an impact? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:) Am recommending this to my friends too, well done!

Tower of BOOM by BadPiggy 2020-04-21T14:11:26Z

Quite addicting! I had hoped for more special things to appear as I got further down (other weapon or other enemies, more obstacles etc). But that didn't keep me from trying again :D The meter could drop a bit slower, but all-in-all a very enjoyable game! Great job!

tiriplici by Trexxak 2020-05-03T09:32:47Z

This was quite fun to play! Like others have suggested I had a few issues with the toaster getting lost off-screen, and the movement of the fridge seemed to be a bit buggy at times. Nothing that can't easily be fixed probably :muscle: I had to laugh at the 'have to be rightclicked in the head' part of the description  Some visual feedback on when the fridge gets hurt would have been helpful too. I would have wanted to zooming in/out to see a bit more of the level to know where I was going :) Overall definitely a cool game with a ton of potential and good humor  Thanks!

Ignis Morty by dahoon studios 2020-04-22T20:02:16Z

Very nice atmosphere in this game, and nice sound effects and especially background music too! I agree that the controls could use a little polishing (I kept accidentally jumping immediately when I landed because I kept jump pressed too long), and overall I think the water was a bit too forgiving (I could swim around for a while before having to jump out, and then a single torch would completely refill me). Definitely worth playing though, so well done!

My Mother is a Caravan? by Gideonnf 2020-04-23T15:32:34Z

Haha great start to a game! :sunglasses: Had fun playing this for a while, and definitely has the flavor that could turn it into a commercial game, I think ;) The ranged attack reload was a bit too slow for me, and avoiding attacks could have been a little easier. Also, at first I thought that I could use the items I found somehow, but soon realized they are just for selling (right?!). Very impressive for a 72 hour jam, well done!

Firekeeper by Minrato2 2020-05-12T08:57:14Z

I really liked the design, kinda nostalgic for me, where you have to 'unlock' certain skills to get to items that then allow you to progress (e.g. the high-jump to get to the honey etc :sunglasses: ). That was well though-out, I think! The background crackling noise of the fire helped set the mood for me, but some very low volume music would make that even more complete. The initial visibility radius could have been a tiny bit larger I think, because the first few times I died I didn't realize that certain changes are permanent (and I thought I was starting over entirely every time without any visual feedback). All of that said though, I definitely enjoyed playing this and it is a solid entry overall! Thanks!

Social Distancing For LadyBugs by mehrdadsh 2020-04-23T08:59:13Z

Great job! :D Smashing the insects feels very satisfying :sunglasses: Could you perhaps make the hitbox of the ladybugs a bit more forgiving? I often smashed them accidentally and was fairly certain they weren't really under my swapper ;) Very fun to play and kind of additive! Congrats!

Mr. Cheesy by SAVVU 2020-04-29T22:01:17Z

Had fun playing this ! The only thing I wanted to say is that I felt like the difficulty ramp was very subtle and perhaps a bit slow.. but right when I thought that I hit a few bad spots  So no, best not to make that more difficult :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Really well done, congrats on a great one-man job!

Keep Pit Alive! by BunnyDen 2020-04-23T08:52:28Z

Very enjoyable game, thanks! I love how you thought of adding the 'skidding to a halt' animation when trying to instantly move in the other direction, and having a bolting animation on space bar (I try the standard keys with most games, and am always delighted to see when something happens even if it doesn't do anything in the game!). Some hitboxes for the apples were a bit hard to get (especially during jumps), but apart from that I had a great time playing your game!

Mama Birb by SouthernWerewolf 2020-04-21T17:06:29Z

Great visuals, and great match with the theme :) The controls and game overall feel a little bit slow to me, and some audio would be very welcome :) Still, lots of potential here I think, and I enjoyed playing it for a while!

Deep Root by Fever Dream Johnny 2020-04-20T21:30:04Z

Won't run on macOS Catalina for me! (The application “Deep Root Mac” can’t be opened.) I'll come back and try again later :)

The Harmless Prison Escape by MickGerritsen 2020-04-22T14:44:20Z

Awesome job :)! And great humor too ;) Really good idea for a puzzle concept, and already very polished. I can already see how this can turn into something even more amazing with more time than available for a jam! :sunglasses: congrats!

SAVE THE DINOS! by marcusnystrand 2020-04-29T22:12:42Z

Addictive little game with a lot of potential (power ups for the click-to-destroy abilities? :sunglasses:)! I liked playing this for a while, though as noted before I think the difficulty ramp could be a bit less  And maybe some visual feedback for the huge meteors? So that the player knows that clicking it is really doing something? Very nice overall, thanks!

ezreactor by 0xab 2020-04-29T22:24:30Z

Haha, great! As a theoretical physicist myself, this serves to 1) teach me to read some Haskell and 2) learn a bit about reactors (not my field ). Do consider having it built for web though, as suggested, if you want more people to try their hand at stabilizing a reactor.

don´t kill the baby(2 player) by Snarkusius 2020-04-22T21:01:40Z

I feel like the core of this game is pretty good! At first the floaty-ness of it was a bit weird, but it actually works really well :)! Nice work!

Keep Fe Chicken by ARBEX 2020-04-21T08:28:15Z

I enjoyed this game a lot! Very polished in my opinion (those level transitions are great!). And omg that exploding chicken! XD Really well done

Thanks for playing the game @tylerkealy, happy to hear you appreciated the humor

Jerry's Misfortune by Notredamstra 2020-10-09T09:04:26Z

@krapht @denzil-gomes @squidzilla @kamennsq Thank you for reporting this! We had that issue ourselves at the last moment but unfortunately didn't manage to fix it fully, apparently  Oh and @shipster the same location should have worked again, not sure what caused this, sorry!

Thank you @matlab for the extensive report, appreciated :sunglasses:

@saurterrs :laughing:

@danyastark Wilhelm!
