Funny game!

chambre19 2020-04-21 07:58

This game has alot of heart. it was really fun and relaxing. The art style and music were both pleasant.

Keep up the good work and see you next dare! I'll look forward to what you make next.

P.S. the title is great!

minthamie 2020-04-21 08:11

The artwork is really cool :) I love the manual with the scientific explanation of particles in space!

binney 2020-04-21 09:31

oh my gosh this is adorable and making me wish I'd paid more attention during my physics degree! great theme <3

vetu11 2020-04-21 12:38

Nice work! The only thing I could say is that the sfx are a bit too loud in contrast with the music. :D

daimilodev 2020-04-21 12:39

Great Job, is really fun to play this game! remembered me a game that i used to play when i was young.. Ty

seriouslycrunchy 2020-04-21 12:48

SPACE CAAAAATS and DUCKS! :D All I would say is that after some time the gameplay is a little repetitive and I would like a few more sound efects (especially for the ducks and cats!) However the mood, visuals, story and audio are all fantastic.

franca 2020-04-21 14:27

Thank you guys for playing our game!! We much appreciate all your comments and suggestions! <3

spaghetti 2020-04-21 15:25

Evviva Gino il Neutrino!

blobross 2020-04-21 15:28

I absolutely love the name and the gameplay is just as good! The artstyle is very unique and wonderful. I know this is meant to be educational but it's still fun

marcelo-zoletti 2020-04-21 15:39

One of the best games I played yet on LDare 46! The music is really good and so is the graphics, the idea behind the game was really cleaver, the game is challenging because of the low speed of the player. Everything fits really nicely in this game. Amazing Job!

hyunkelw 2020-04-21 15:39

I appreciate a lot the idea of giving some education while playing, and the music is really catchy! I like the art too, even though I think the background style doesn't exactly mix well with all those sprites. Loved the credit scene music  ! Great job!

trexxak 2020-04-21 16:40

Very appropriate as an educational game for kids, loved the ParticleDex especially.

The music is absolutely fantastic and enhances the experience, and the art is obviously crafted with love and knowledge of the matter!

I made it to 2.23 AU through cheating by simply staying on the bottom border, might want to look into that before handing it off to students who will most likely abuse that and make the cheating part the main attraction :D

eulalia-porto-figueroba 2020-04-21 18:30

I really liked your game for the educational side of it, since it's an amazing goal to achieve for a gamejam (particleDex was a 10/10). The art looks amazing, and it's obvious that you did this game with 'heart'.

physiker2001 2020-04-22 08:49

I love a educational game on particle physics! The music was phenomenal! Keep it up and hope you'll release it!

evert 2020-04-22 15:14

The music really fit the mood of the game :) Very enjoyable to play, and has a ton of potential as an even further educational resource (anything from the particle zoo!). Overall really great :D

readyplayertom 2020-04-22 17:02

Funny game and nice music :D

rongefilet 2020-04-22 17:24

Simple but effective, not sure that having learning material acquired on player's death is the most effective way of making people love particles though ^^. Lovely entry!

kptnholz 2020-04-22 20:06

Quacky the ducky 🦆 the back ground 🌌 ❤️❤️❤️

inacho 2020-04-23 01:35

Really lovely. It's nice how you guys turned a "bullet-hell" setup into an educational and beautiful game. Well done!

aetup 2020-04-23 01:38

Love the particles' personalities. A very charming game! and AWESOME MUSIC

eckkert 2020-04-23 01:39

What a lovely game! My mean free path was about 0.5AU. ;)

karenfarah 2020-04-23 02:52

Wholesome! So cute and enjoyable

notexplosive 2020-04-23 14:46

I love how much personality you put into subatomic particles. I never thought of neutrinos as "introverts" but now I can't un-think it! I liked how the music changed over time too. I found the gameplay a little lacking assuming I was playing it right. It seemed like my objective was to dodge everything so I just spent most of the game at the very top of the screen not moving. Perhaps if there were powerups to grab or some incentive to not sit still you could solve this problem? Overall though it was a nice submission!

ifidamas 2020-04-23 15:30

Thank you all for your warm feedbacks! You are really motivating us to push this little Ludum Dare jam further. We have decided to continue the development of this little Gino buddy, so we can show it to little kids via the educational programs.

We will keep here on the ludum dare webpage the first version (plus the HTML5 WebGL), but we hope to update a new version in the near future on a different website, after the ludum dare competition ends; we will let you know!

Any additional comments and suggestions are really appreciated!

PS:

@vetu11 thank you for your feedback; we are currently working on audio and sfx!

@seriouslycrunchy both space cats and quacky the space ducks post-catch effect are under development! keep an eye on our game in the near future ;)

@notexplosive We realized that we haven't explained well the gameplay, and that the graphics may not help too: 1. Space Cats and Ducky the Spaceduck are power ups! try to cath your new cosmic friend! 2. Gino the neutrino oscillates into its three forms; it can interact with other particles only if it shares their color (i.e., the *flavor*); so, if you are, let us say, red, only punk red tauon can stop your run!

We are currently updating the graphics, colliders and UI to make it clearer! Thank you again for your feedback!

teo-yong-jie 2020-04-23 19:19

great music! but every time i die i flinch cause of the sudden loud sound effect! i feel this game needs a bit more explanation on how to play as its not very obvious , but i think its a very interesting concept and hope it can be expanded upon!

linky439 2020-04-23 19:24

Hell yeah, that's a cool one!

The idea is simple and well implemented (love the educational aspect and the funny bits in the descriptions) Not so sure that the game music matches well what happens on the screen, but anyway. A really well done game, with a fun idea, congrats :)

I reached the Earth in my best shot but "died" shortly after... At least I managed to say hello to Gino :)

marcusnystrand 2020-04-24 17:55

This music makes me want to close my eyes and think about nothing

feingehacktes 2020-04-25 12:15

The music is nice, but the death sound effect doesn't really fit, maybe it's just a little too load.

The movement feels a bit slow, thus making it quite difficult to dodge.

I would like the transition to different colors be a little bit more predictable, maybe a small transition to it or some indication of what comes next.

Other than that it's a fun little game, good job.

emmatw 2020-04-25 16:33

Really nice game! Who knew neutrinos could be so cute? I really loved all the particle designs and the overall style of the game. Nice entry, well done!

generictoast 2020-04-26 07:00

A beautiful game with nice character designs and parallax backgrounds! The particle dex with information about each character is also a nice touch.

euforia-games 2020-05-01 13:50

Nice art, mood, and audio!

kerelolivier 2020-05-02 11:47

I love the art and science vibe this game has. Well done!

hgcummings 2020-05-07 12:13

Really nice idea, well executed and fun to play. The graphics and music are great. I love the art style, the space cats and the duck.

james-7777 2020-05-12 14:38

This is very cute, and I really like the educational spin. I think Gino moves up and down a bit too slowly for my liking. Really fun game though, great work!

bredian 2020-05-12 14:46

Very cute game. I think music here is inappropriate sometimes (it changes so drastically that I thought that I didn't close some other game), and controls are too stiff for me, but it is just personal matter.

I thought that I would never find a game about elementary particles, because my game is also about a particle (electron in particular), and I haven't seen this kind of games until this last day.

Anyway - this game is beautiful. I am glad I played it.

convg 2020-05-12 18:33

Awesome game! Really nice and original concept. Good work!
