Really like the look and feel of this little gem, some of the actual shooting can be a little twitchy especially the bosses but otherwise really nice feelgood game.

Really like the look and feel of this little gem, some of the actual shooting can be a little twitchy especially the bosses but otherwise really nice feelgood game.
Really fun idea, I didn't realise to start with that the 'altars' refilled your rift power. Death loops were a little frustrating but prob only way to fix that is by checkpointing at altars and that would be a pain to implement.
Top notch. The gameplay just flows, I felt the theme was a little loose as changing world didn't have much effect but it fits and changing it might have broken the great flow the game has. Excellent.
Only thing I don't like is I cant see attack direction of enemy. Otherwise is good!
Really like this little sandbox and the visual effect you get after playing it for a few minutes with everything connected. Only criticism is as someone who tends to forget everything could use a little display on the main screen to show what planets get along.
Absolutely brilliant humor and writing.
The setting of the mood is perfect even if the gameplay wasn't to my tastes. The CRT effect was a brilliant touch.
Very solid idea, quite challenging too.
The minimap was a really nice touch, pthers have already said about the ship going a little slow, and a lot of the space did feel empty but I like it!
This is beautiful. Multiplayer worked for me and was an experimental joy. Brilliant.
Love the execution of this one. Difficulty curve hits the sweet spot too.
Brilliant idea and very nice execution too. Cant think of a decent criticism!
Love the way the world is presented as the two globes. Fun little game
I also found this very hard, but it is a great idea and a very thoughtful puzzle.
Definitely a more slapstick VVVVVV and I consider that a complement, fun humorous little game, personally I feel the controls are pretty decent, the camera seems to have a mind of its own sometimes though.
Love the idea, does seem a but tough though.
Very interesting idea! WWould love to see it a little more fleshed out.
Fun little game. I liked taking away what I gave to the poor and giving it to the next door house!
Nice relaxing little feel to this one, sort of like a garden sandbox in a way, pretty good stuff.
Great game, but very difficult. Indicators to show where children can see would turn this into a truly great game.
The unresponsive scrolling is a real problem, as enemies are often off screen and will hit you when you cant see them.
However, fix that and you'd have a great little game on your hands!
I like this a lot. Great little game, simple but good fun. Good potential for expansion here too.
Absolutely amazing. I wish there were more of these.
Great puzzling here, only criticism is that theres often a lot of back and forth and experimentation to find out what is the correct sequence of button presses, but I admit its hard to get rid of that without making it too easy.
Excellent game and idea regardless.
Really like this. Nice mood.
The shadow is a brilliant touch to ensure you know where you are while jumping.
Funny thing, I found the difficulty to be hard at times, unfair at others. But because it was hard, your 4 levels lasted a good 10 minutes. If it was easier I probably would have voted this game down for being very short!
Fun game regardless!
Fun, cute little game. Could use a time limit to give something to aim for, but I like it.
Thanks for the comments so far everyone! Few things :
- originally I was going to have keyboard controls but I decided id quite like mobile support, and restricting movement to the mouse means I was able to restrict where the player could go by only allowing them to target areas of light. I could have got it working and balanced with a few tweaks though.
- sound effects I sadly just ran out of time for, which is a shame, I reckon if I'd have had another hour and a half I could have got them in, but hey ho, next time.
Fun little game, could use more enemy types and weapons, but hey, its fun!
Decent enough idea but this game really really needs checkpoints of some sort or some way to progress. In its current version its just frustrating.
What an excellent idea!
Only sad thing is I cant see many ways to move this game forward. Maybe blocks that are unaffected by gravity? Maybe somehow coding the game so that you can always clear the field of boxes when theres only a few left?
Its a nice idea but I seemed to be getting some odd input lag. The game would sometimes pick up button presses very late.
Hell of a lot of fun even with 3 people. I'm so bad at this, but its such a cute little game to play I can see myself coming back.
Loved this when I saw this at the London event and still love it now, great stuff. Platforming seems a little iffy at times though.
This is a great mix of ideas! I really like the attention to detail and presentation. The whole game just FEELS right and that's quite hard to do at the best of times.
Very interesting idea, I notice you're looking at doing a post-compo version, so I will watch this space with interest!
Brilliant homage to a great game mechanic. I just wish there was more!
Brilliant idea. I would have loved to see more level layouts.
This game was interesting to start with, but the segments with the costume changes really made it for me. Things that had no real gameplay value, but really brought the world a little to life. Good stuff
This is ridiculous. Ridiculous and brilliant.
I like the idea, but in practice after a while it is a little bit annoying typing out all the text. I agree shortcuts would be a nice option to implement.
I love the way you've presented this one. Not to everyones taste as its a bit cryptic, but I love it.
Seems to be very buggy with a few clipping issues and camera sometimes not being where it should, but a good chunk of fun nonetheless.
Very interesting. The controls felt better on mobile, on mouse they didn't really work.
Brilliant idea, well executed. And theres so much content for a compo entry!
Against some weapons the controls could use some tweaking to stop you getting locked together, but I really liked that often you could figure out a weapons attack pattern.
Theres a lot of content in here! Some of the later levels are really complex too, good job!
Oh wow best use of the theme I think I've seen. Really good stuff. The game is simple and fun too!
Interesting take on the match-3 genre.
The randomness of the types of ice cream you could get sometimes made this a little hard, though. Or im terrible at match-3!
This is what Ludum Dare is all about to me, brilliant idea marvellously executed.
I do agree that a little music would have been nice, but frankly im giving you 5 stars on everything else as the idea fits the theme, its fun, and it looks great. Great work.
One last thing : having the names of the areas was totally unnecessary but it added a great feel to the world. These little touches make all the difference.
I love the little story behind this, sad its a little unfinished I woulda liked to have seen where this ended up.
Love it. I marked you down a little for the theme but everywhere else it looks good, audio is good and it plays well.
The player controls are awful, but everything else is great! Good use of the theme!
Love the graphics and presentation. The pixel art is awesome. I do agree with the others that levelling is way too slow though.
Buckets of no-nonsense fun, excellent stuff
Wow, amazing looking game, especially considering its part of the compo. Sure there could be sound and a few gameplay tweaks, but I'd expect this level of detail in a Jam game. very nice job.
Dear gods how horrifying. Fun little game. Like the theme use.
Lovely little game, very topical considering how many haters seem to be on the internet these days!
As you used Construct 2, I'd like to post your game on twitter, do you have a twitter handle or website I can link to?
Oh wow, absolutely hilarious, nice use of the theme!
Interesting use of the theme, I think the unconventional weapon is the aliens starving out humans?
It plays very well! Only thing I do not like is sometimes you start with almost zero fields and other times I started with lots!
This certainly fits the theme! Fun little game.
Great mood and use of the theme, but slightly let down by the lack of feedback and iffy controls, such as guns firing off centre.
Brilliant. This is what I come to LD to see! Just wished there were more levels.
Wow this definitely fits the theme perfectly. The controls take a bit of getting used to and seem quite slow and clunky but what a great idea.
I liked this a lot, the graphics and sound especially.
I have featured you on #madeinconstruct ! https://twitter.com/SrslyCrunchy/status/597070650872823808
Wow this is a very nice use of the theme! Looks great too, nice job. Unsure how I would expand the idea though.
Excellent idea for the theme, very well executed, my only complaint is as others have said, you tend to walk around double tapping space.
Great entry all round, if a little simplistic. I like how you added more enemy types as well, good job.
Love it, definitely fits the theme and is a lovely little package of a game that really works!
I like it, however I do think the ball and flippers feel very heavy. Otherwise, good stuff!
Very good take on the theme, nice little compact game that works excellently, good stuff!
Hilarious throwaway fun. I love it.
Theres a hell of a lot of good content here. You get a maximum for mood for capturing that old Gameboy-esque feel. Really good stuff!
Only thing I would say is that sometimes battle can take a looooong time if both you and the enemy end up resting, then attacking, then resting again!
Excellent stuff, the sound effects really make me chuckle, and theres something morbidly brilliant about having such an upbeat and happy feel to a game that's effectively about killing someone in a no doubt horrible way.
One bug to report, somehow on the 'level select' section, it spawned me outside the body, and I had to refresh and start over to complete the game. Other then that, its a lovely little complete package of a game that feels good to play. Good job!
Short but very sweet. Great idea.
Fun little game, like it as a complete package, and the visuals are really good. Of course, its lacking in depth so I got a little bored of it after a few minutes, but good fun while it lasts.
Love the mood and graphics. Id love to see the gameplay expanded a little though.
Nice little platformer. I did however come across a bug where I couldn't jump and only moved very slowly. But this solved itself after a death.
Brilliant concept. Top marks for Innovation here! Excellent little Compo game
I ended up with 920 at the end, but I got the idea quite quickly.
Meow, Meow Meow Meow Meow, Meow Meow!
Betting your nine lives as a cat is an excellent use of the theme. Nice one!
Simple, straightforward fun! Nicely done!
Great concept, if sadly rather short. The money worked for me and the hit detection seemed ok! It also looks very good graphically, I'd like to see an extended version post-LD!
Maximum points for innovation and theme use on this one! Controls seemed ok to me, I would have loved some simple sound effects to just finish it off.
Top points for humor and mood! As a Brit I found it spot on. Simple gameplay indeed but enough laughs to keep me playing.
Fun game! There's a lot of good content here and it kept me going for a while!
Brilliant atmosphere! I personally would have liked a few more choices and options, but really, for a jam game, I cannot complain. Excellent.
The game is good enough that I spent well over half an hour trying to complete the last level without any upgrades! Not much else I can add! :D
The graphics and audio are great, I do wish the animals were a little more fluid to control, however. That said, still good fun to play.
@lalou Unfortunately I ran out of time to write a full instruction list. But you use scrap that you pick up from the road to assemble the upgrades. The dotted lines in the scrap bar show you how much you need.
@5you @mehozavr The first pass of this game was very hard and rather unfair, so I have toned the difficulty down. If we had more time we would have added more cars that are harder to take out. Thank you for the feedback!
@surreali Thank you! @beastiebeastie did some amazing art for this one, really happy with it. The controls, especially for upgrades, are somewhat fiddly, but we didnt want to interrupt the action with a shop or pause menu!
@green-rail Glad you like the concept!
@shaddo Good idea! Thanks for the feedback!
@jason-lothamer Certainly am interested! Thanks for the link!
@melmo @aspect Thanks for the feedback! Originally the game was way too unfair early on, but given more time I'd have worked out a reasonable difficulty curve that most likely added other enemies later.
@julienlussiez Main reason I put the button in is because reloading uses scrap, which is your health, and I wanted the player to be in control of that. Maybe I could have a toggle that switches between automatic reloading and manual reloading?
@good-enough Oh wow, can I play this game somewhere? Glad it gave you such memories!
Really nice mood and audio! Fits into the theme really well, I think I would just like the idea expanded on a little to polish it off
Short but so very very sweet. Polished to perfection great graphics and animations, nice sound and music (my only complaint being that some of the sound effects seem a bit loud when added to the music), not too hard, not too easy. Got to be a top 10 game right here.
Fun little game! Only thing I would really like to see is mouse aim on the shots, unless im missing something they only fire in the direction you are moving right now?
Great concept, unfortunately the bugs getting in the way was quite annoying. I would love to see a post-LD version as this looks like it will be great fun when the bugs are ironed out!
Good use of the theme, I think my only major complaint is it would be nice to have a WASD or arrow keys to move the Dryad. There's a lot of clicking and not great for RSI. Other then that, nice amount of upgrades and decent gameplay!
Brilliant! Utterly insane, hilarious, and still fun to play. Well done!
So short, but oh so very good! Brilliant! I would love to see a longer post-jam version if you made it.
This is excellent, you could easily build this into a full mobile game with different worlds, for example! With their own mechanics and scenery.
You had LOTS of levels for a 48 hour game and plenty of mechanics.
I'd kinda like to see stats at end of each level, or a rating system after each level. Having the stats at the end of the game was a great, fun little nod!
Great little game, the difficulty ramps up nicely, and quickly! So it definitely has that very moreish 'Just one more go' feel.
I do agree with the others that the apple hitboxes need a little work, however
This is a hell of a lot of work in the compo time frame, awesome stuff. The game is certainly a bit rough around the edges to play, i found it quite difficult to figure out where to go or how to actually fight effectively, but the mood and effects make up for it for sure.
Short but fun. I wasn't really sure what to do to fix it quite often, but I guess that's the idea! Fun little story.
I will say though that the jerkiness of the camera and the dark areas in the ship made it hard to find things sometimes.
This is good fun and pretty funny to play! Few things though, the cars sometimes go flying all over the shop, which is pretty funny but may cause some issues sometimes where they land in odd places. Also, sometimes on restart it can spawn a car right on you and you can lose immediately.
This is a great idea! Sometimes I found it difficult to create the plants I wanted, no matter what combination I used, but still. Would love to see this expanded.
SPACE CAAAAATS and DUCKS! :D All I would say is that after some time the gameplay is a little repetitive and I would like a few more sound efects (especially for the ducks and cats!) However the mood, visuals, story and audio are all fantastic.
This game is pretty stylish! I found it hard to keep track of things though and it seemed like most of the time pressing 'F' actually did nothing until I moved a little bit to either side. Funny though!
While others have commented you can figure out what to do after a few playthroughs that doesn't take away from the basic game, a fun narrative and great little take on the theme !
This game is pretty difficult but wow is it addictive and stressful in a fun way rushing for those buttons. Difficulty actually seemed quite well balanced for me, it took me maybe 7 goes to complete it!
One thing you could really use in future for this, if you chose to expand it, would be a colour blind mode.
Very nicely done for 48 hours, and a great little tutorial as well!
This is short but sweet, and utterly hilarious. You can kinda cheat though, by having the pillow just carry the egg and make it fly across the room :D
Funny concept! I would have loved more power ups and enemies. When you need to intervene as well, it seems like there is little you can do to help!
I thought not explaining everything right out of the gate was a good idea, but sometimes you can get to a situation where the sun is not out for a long time and so its impossible to keep something alive. Other then that, pretty good!
@syo Thanks for the feedback, yes unfortunately its a bit rough to control, and I had to change the 'feel' of how the drone controls multiple times and I'm still not really happy with it, but ah well.
@andrew-hoyer @fiakaiera Thank you so much for the in depth feedback and tips!
On fuel use : I have to agree with both of you, balancing fuel use (or fuel generation) was one thing I really wanted to spend more time on, it never quite felt right, same as the movement. I will definitely make sure to have something feel good before I move on in the future.
On the shield bug : I have no idea how I missed that, late compo tiredness I guess! Thank you, I will fix it up!
On the name : I actually sat at my PC after midnight UK time just before the end of the compo trying to think of a good name! I had some backstory about how this might be how certain delivery companies test their delivery drones before sending them off to deliver items for customers, buuut I gave up and got that well needed sleep. Any ideas? :D
@trusty @blobo @zuza Thank you all for reporting this bug, I'll look into it and see if I can fix it!
@bongo227 @hanamigi thank you for the feedback!
@thewinrawr @foursay Thanks for the feedback! Initially I wanted enemy drones to track the player and slowly follow them, but I ran out of time. I'm not sure if it would have been too difficult either with the quite hardcore controls!
@fireshake thank you so much!
@arthurds Aha yes of course! I imagine seeing the cute death sequence is fun the first few times, but it could get annoying after a few!
@lukein Yes if I was creating a post-jam version, which I don't think I will at this time, I would definitely add upgrades, and of course additional enemies to dodge.
@arcus Aww, I thought I'd got rid of that 201 fuel bug! Music was on the list but I juuuuust ran out of time to make anything.
@justuspan Yes, unfortunately when he starts rolling he likes to keep going! You can counter it a little by boosting him into the floor.
@grizeldi Hmm, thats a good point. I didn't really mention much about the goal or the instructions I must admit!
@fryer Fuel tanks would have been a great addition, and a better one than the automatic refill I must agree. It was actually on my list of stuff to add if I had time, but unfortunately, I spent a bit too much time on the drone's cute eyes! The physics does need work, once the drone starts spinning it requires a LOT of force to stop it, and I couldn't figure a decent way to prevent it at this time.
Thank you all for your feedback!
@rialgar thank you so much for the excellent feedback and for the video! I'd never actually made it as far as you did in my own testing, so I didn't realise the game would spawn so many enemy drones at the end! I will have to look into that!
I 100% agree that it was a mistake to have the fuel count so low, and I do like the idea of permanent spikes. Maybe have the spikes come in permanently after a short amount of time to give the player time to get their bearings
Fun and cute game, with a nice amount of humour thrown in! I do agree with some others that a little more challenge would be fun as once you have the hang of it typing is quite easy, though the game does seem to increase in difficulty as you go on! Nice job!
Fun game, who doesn't love eggs! Some of the puzzles and platform sections were a little too hard for me, traps are one thing because you can learn to dodge them, but it can be quite difficult to manage throwing the egg and not damaging it when you need to. Everything else was pretty good!
I really love this, it's very soothing and the sound and visuals are excellent.
The little tutorial at the beginning is a nice touch too.
Anything else I can say others have already said! Great job!
Very interesting way to create a little fun puzzle game! Nice mechanic!
This was absolutely hilarious. I kinda want some nuggets now!
Cool little idea, definitely could use some little sound effects and more obstacles but other than that nice one!
I really enjoyed this, the physics were great, its a good take on the theme, the first environment was really fun to run around in, and there's lots of great little touches, like all your deaths being left so you can see them on retries. But sadly I could not finish it.
I found the section with the crushers with spikes that you have to climb on to to be a bit too frustrating, almost every time they damaged or killed you on the way up when you climbed on them - this actually made me quite sad as I really wanted to finish it and see everything.
Short but cute and sweet, nice little one! Look forward to seeing what you and your children might do in future!
I really like this! Unfortunately the problem with the randomness of the cards is that you always need either water or the harvest tool. So it can be quite easy to lose without doing anything wrong. If there was a way to get back life (maybe by having a completely full bed?) then it would feel a bit less unfair. Still, a really good set of ideas.
