Quite a lovely game, if you can say that about such plant-cultist simulator like this.
This game is at it's best right at the start when everything is mystery and you don't know what to expect, but it's more likely than not that you won't beat it right away. And then the repetition kicks in. Somewhere around the third try (that's when I beat it) you just stop reading all the text, and it just transforms into a game of counting how much times did I go to these or those folks.
Add a little bit of randomization and a couple of unique non-repeating events to the mix and this game would absolutely shine!
I did it! It took me a _lot_ of tries to realize the trick. I liked it, overall, it reminded me of that mobile game Reigns.
As the above commenter said, the time I won I wasn't reading anything because I already knew what was going to happen. I was just trying to keep count of everything and make sure I had what I needed to keep things under control. More variety or more ways to succeed would have been more interesting.
It is very polished and I liked the drawings and flavor though!
Ahh a delightful game, hungry traveller! Jokes aside, it is rare to see story driven games in game jams. This game definitely has a very mysterious atmosphere about it. I like the innovative backstory and lore, and the writing is pretty good. This reminds me a lot of a specific game, that i can't remember the name of. All in all, a nice mysterious game

Enjoyed the game, the narrative was great. Furthering this game though, I think it would be better if there was multiple plants that could grow depending on how you treat it, so the narrative is more dynamic. For the time given though, the game is great, really nice concept!
This one really took me by surprise. I was expecting some sort of boring plant watering simulation when I saw the start of the game, and then the choices kicked in and I was amazed. It feels very polished and the interpretation of the theme was really clever, nicely done!

Really lovely! Although it might get a bit repetitive after couple of runs, I still enjoyed it! Good work

Pretty interesting approach. Simple on the surface but has an interesting layering to it, juggling the different impacts of decisions. Certainly glad I gave it a few tries.
I may have missed something but it seems that some options (early game) are random such as the first food choices. Getting off to a good start there helped a lot on the run I beat it on however by the end I think I still had a few choices I could have used so there may be more fudge in it that I initially felt.
Fun little experience!

This game is pretty hard, I have completed it after 8 attempt. This game is unique and interesting, if this game had multiple stories, this game can be a full steam release, but if you don't have 100$ you can publish it on itch.io and there set the price and you don't need to pay.

Survived 28 days! Damn it's hard. But I liked it a lot. Finding out the way the game works and everything. I love the mood and some sound effects and music would've made it really awesome. Great game!

It was nice to find out what all the options did and I like how the player is "guided" to the different endings by that. I had a good time causing the death of countless people by experimenting :D
A solid challenging game with multiple choices and a good art. Could make a nice full fleshed out mobile game with a little more work and depth add to it.
A great difficult game with a very unique and cool take on the theme. The art and sound was also quite nice. Overall great job!
Was fun to play with the options given. Maybe events out of the players control would add something to the experience. I dont know:D Getting reigns vibes from this. Well made.
I love the dynamic. Even if this wasn't compo, and was made by 3 people, i'd still be impressed. I followed you on twitch, looking forward to see your workflow in action. Cheers mate, very good graphics, very well thought. Keep up the good work, we'll be in touch :) if you ever need some OST, DM me, i love doing it and i am hard working

Yeah a game made with godot :). I'm fan of it for years now. How was your first experience with Godot ? I tried to do something with Godot in 3D for this LD, and the experience was smooth and productive.
By the way I liked your game, style, transition, gameplay, day 16 at max for the moment.
I loved it. Good job. Graphics are great. The game made me think of Reigns. Fit perfectly the theme. Congrats.

It was very fun to play. The multiple choices and the survival aspect make me think of Reigns. The pixel art is simple and nice and you managed very well the narrative aspect. Good job !

Nice! I liked the "Reings" vibes going on! I also liked the fact that I felt compelled to finish the game after I failed the first two times. Obviously, it would me more interesting still with more mechanics and random events, but overall you did a great work!

Very nice choice of narration, the games manages to grab your attention with the variety of outcomes and I really liked it. It feels like the game is a little bit lacking of content (proper music also would be strongly appreciated), but it's a matter of time, for sure. Wish you kept working on this idea, because I would definitely LOVE to play it again. :3

Well I didn't get to the ending everyone is talking about :( But I like the story and narration so far :)
While others have commented you can figure out what to do after a few playthroughs that doesn't take away from the basic game, a fun narrative and great little take on the theme !

Fun game. Reminded me alot of the game reigns. It would have been nice to have some sound in the background change dynamically with the plants health (chanting as it got more powerful, quiet and empty wind howling as it began dying) As well as some special random encounters or gambles that could reward or punish risky play. Great execution, especially for trying a new engine.

@nutriz Honestly, I did not have a good time with Godot. There were so many gotchas and random hiccups with bad google/documentation resolutions. I spent 30 minutes trying to figure out how to center text in a rich text label. I spent an hour trying to get the icon for the exe changed and still couldn't do it. The engine text editor was a complete pain to work with. It didn't open new files automatically when created. The tabs on the top and panel to the left for scripts vs scene was frustrating as scenes and scripts often had similar names. F2 to change to 3d view instead of renaming an object drove me mad. Changing a nodes placement in the tree breaks all your scripts and there is no tool that automatically looks in all scripts for if that object has been accessed and tries to auto fix the path for it. Sure it is a tiny download, but that's because they don't download the packaging templates with the base engine. So when you actually want to export then you get another half gig of data. It just didn't feel ready for prime time still.

You didn't tell me in the stream your game was also about keeping plants alive! I guess my theme interpretation was not that original after all :)
I liked the game and I hope I have found all the endings, and I enjoyed the process of learning the game. I didn't like that the selection blocked the view of the flower, so I did not know how healthy it is when selecting next option.
What a shame there are no sound effects.

@boltkey was hard to balance all the ui decisions. The background color also shows the plant state. I too wish I had time for sound.
I was pleasantly surprised to find this game to be very well balanced. I had to play through it 3 or 4 times to finish it, and each time I could tell I was benefiting from the knowledge I gained the previous round. As far as text based adventures go, I'd say this was pretty enjoyable for me and well designed.
It would have been nice to have some sound effects and maybe a looping music track that depended on the current health of the plant / corruption of the player, and maybe some more flashy vfx.
Also one thing bugged me was the UI box that kept sliding up from the bottom of the screen moves slightly to the left as it comes up and slightly to the right as it goes down.
But I still quite enjoyed it, it was interesting enough to play through a few different to see what would happen to each party as you gave them more and more fruit. Good job!
This game is so simple yet so strong and special, also having a very high replay value to see other outcomes. Really liked it and i am keeping it on my PC for sure so my friends can try it too! (Thank you again for reviewing my game lol)
Great use of the theme and very original. This is a story-/mechanic-driven game, and in that sense it's very refined and it's quite well written too. I think there's a real sense of discovery as you prod and poke at the edge of how much the factions can take. I love how my perspective on bearing fruit changed once I realized its consequences, going from "Oh great, I bore fruit!" to "Oh god, I bore fruit!". I also had some fun in the post-game losing on purpose just to read all the different bad endings. Overall, great worldbuilding and a well-designed game with graphics that serve their purpose.
Simple and original game. Art is on-point! It really did fit this game. If you could've added sound, it would be awoseme! Keep up the good work, nice game!

i liked discovering all the different endings, even though playing it over and over takes away from the mystery of the plant a bit, well done!
I enjoyed the mood and finding out how to beat the game!
Really cool game ! As other people have said, it has a "reign" vibes to it, but a bit darker, which is really nice !
The discovery at the start is really the best part, but the game is short enough for this starting wonder to stay through all the game, which is really nice :)
Couldn't get very far, but I did enjoy convincing the townsfolk to perform ritualistic orgies. Gotta love a game with ritualistic orgies.

Very challenging game, but one of the few in the Jam I've taken the time to beat (3 Attempts). It was really interesting, and a game where you don't mind loosing just so you can see what happens. I also love the internal logic. The only real complaint I could make is that the game is too short. Overall, very fun experience!
Hm... what did I just play?
I usually avoid occult topics but I gave this game a try.
It's well made. Too bad there's no sound.
The only thing is that it feels like the decisions are not really making sense, for me it was just a guess work. Ok, everyone is worse of after eating the fruit several times, but it was very hard for me to make meaningful decisions. So, I've tried it a few times with different choices and I can see that there are quite a lot of paths, but I just couldn't survive all 30 days...
I guess I'm just not a cultist person. Keep up the good work.

That's great! :)
I gave up after 8 attempts, only making it to 29 days once. It's quite hard, esp. as the choices are not always the same on a replay.
Really well done, only thing missing is some sound.

Hi @erebus,
I have reported to the Godot community your problems as a first time user, and they will change shortcuts to use `F2` for renaming, and `F1-F3+CTRL` to switch betweens 3D/2D/Script/ views.
Well done compo entry all around. I play with sound off most of the time so that didn't bother me. Obviously you can't build out too many narrative branches in 48h, so I won't complain there either. You could easily polish this a bit and throw it up next to Reign and that crowd would flock to this. Remember us little people when you buy that lambo.
As someone who usually gives feedback in-depth. I'm amazed on how you designed this game, as I have literally none to report. I do wish there's sounds with consequences though, but that's Ludum Dare, no?
I'm pretty sure that everyone has said their piece before about not reading the text anymore and about the delay of the UI so I don't need to address that further. So if you're gonna improve this game, then random events should take place and it would actually be really interesting to see this kind of game flourish as the story and mechanics about managing all of this and making sure this plant stays alive without going over and under.
Once you get the knack, it's actually pretty easy to figure out and finish all 30 days. I do like the how this panned out. Outstanding job! Pretty good as your first Godot game too!
Let me just get the obvious out there, if the game had sound/music it would be more immersive, having said that the twist on how take care of the plant and the consequences of your choice are fun and fair. I felt like enough of a hint was given to quickly understand how to advance the plot and more or less what to watch out for. In the end I gave the church too much power and they did what I expected (this is a good thing) :P
