LD46 — Keep it alive

Something Magical by wasd 2020-04-21T15:14:03Z

For what was there, this was wonderfully sweet. Love the unique take on the theme. Absolutly wonderful. It took a little while for the fun stuff to grow, but that is probably just how this game is meant to be played.

E.M.D. (Earth Meteorite Defense) by KerelOlivier 2020-05-07T18:12:08Z

Fun game, but I feel the platform limitation is what is holding it back. I can understand this well, as I made a game that was inconvenient to play for others in a past jam, and it caused problems for me. I do think something like making an HTML port or just a Desktop version would help in getting the game to other people

Tamalicious by Satyre 2020-04-21T16:43:38Z

Fun little clicker game. I found it finicky to click on the different icons, perhaps making their regions for clicking larger (Bigger Hitboxes) just to give players an edge they don't need but desperately want. (Always make the player feel in control)

Keeping SNES Alive! by drludos 2020-04-21T21:38:22Z

A true Embrase of the Theme, Bravo!

Magic Garden by MaggardJosh 2020-04-20T16:58:45Z

Love the game.

The connection is a little lacking, as its more like a fetch games, but I did like how it was another approach to a more defense heavy theme!

Maybe work on getting more interesting backgrounds, that could help alot

Subsea Demon Hearts by JonasMumm 2020-04-22T15:49:54Z

Great game. Works better with a theme of paying with your life or something, but it was an enjoyable experience none the less.

Eternal Flame by Galgris 2020-04-21T15:25:28Z

Would have been really neat if the screen scrolled behind you to pressure you into quick decision making. Fun game otherwise

Its Alive! by automatonvx 2020-04-20T19:46:14Z

Wonderful take on the theme idea. It blends in to seamlessly that the game is dependent on the theme for its identity. Bravo!

The HeartBit by Lucas Ferrantelli 2020-04-22T15:11:23Z

Interesting platformer. I could tell it took inspiration from Meatboy platformers, and there was a lot of content in the game as well, but it was hard for me to play for all of it due to the controls. Acceleration is a two sided coin that you need to land on the side for it to work. You had way to much acceleration so I would make a jump, often times without the ability to turn around if I miscalculated. It would be really fun if it were more instant, as the speed wan't an issue for me. The sounds were fun and jucy too, and the graphics while simple made was consistent and clean.

Little Sunshine by Bloham 2020-04-20T20:06:36Z

Its a really polished game. Everything from the background changing to the little animations of the flower were all well done. I wish there were more tasks that needed to be completed rather than just clicking buttons, but those buttons were fun to click, so I'll give you that. ;)

Meteor Strike! by impmaster 2020-04-21T21:52:31Z

Nice Game. It would benifit alot if you spent some time working on the UI of the game as it really can give it character. Also, I found that the rotators are a little slow, and it would probably be cool if you found some cool music to play in the background.

Keep it Afloat by janmarcano 2020-04-21T19:28:30Z

Wow, we made a game with the same name!

Tiny Fragments by Daniel Moreno 2020-04-20T22:14:42Z

Great entry, the connection to the theme was a little lacking but it was certainly a fun game! Could make for a fun mobile time waster.

The Blind Hummingbird by Webox 2020-04-20T15:49:39Z

Fun Idea, but it took a while for me to get all of the mechanics. Things did get easier once I understood the return to point mechanic, but even then It turned into a game of guess, check, and memorise. Cool execution though, the humming birt theme was fun.

Helium by joekinglake 2020-04-20T21:07:18Z

Fun Little platformer.

Love the concept, but I couldn't seem to beat the boss. I didn't see any weakness that needed to be exploited, so I just shot him bunch. Little tip, don't make bosses bullet spunges, they generally don't fell fair or fun to play against, so its better to have only a few hits but have them harder to get in. Would have been really cool if letting you balloon hit him from below was the way to kill him.

Also, look into putting sound effects into the game. It does so much with so little. if you need a software suggestion, I like bfxr for things like jumping and shooting, and BoscaCeoil for short melodies. They are great!

Balance ME by Tristan Shatley 2020-04-20T18:04:27Z

There is a very high sensativity for the swing. In my experience, I would get stuck in a position time and time again where the platform would tilt to one side and there would be nothing I could do about it. It was a little frustrating, but it was enjoyable none the less.

Audio was a bit lacking. It felt like you ran out of time when it came to adding sound effects as the only one I really noticed was the box dropping sound. No death, no funny swinging sounds, nothing. That would be what I would improve as sounds do so much for so little if you do them right!

Rock The House by mercerbox 2020-04-20T21:53:55Z

The initial gameplay loop was a little lacking, and could have used some work, but the environment was very cool to look around in. Especially for a 48 hour game!

Embers by Anuke 2020-04-20T22:39:51Z

Went into the game blind and was totally screwed over by not knowing what to craft. Ironically enough, I made a game like this a long time ago and make the same mistake. XD

Cloudy With A Chance Of Pain by ProdigalSon 2020-04-22T15:33:14Z

Cute,

a small timer that began to get louder at the end would make the ending transition less sudden from game to results. Nice Jam game with a unique take on the theme.

P4R3NTing 101 by AndideBob 2020-04-20T15:43:25Z

Fun game with a unique idea. I love the fact that you added a multiplayer element. I'll have to try that when given the chance!

OtherworldlyFlavors by erebus 2020-04-22T15:02:03Z

Fun game. Reminded me alot of the game reigns. It would have been nice to have some sound in the background change dynamically with the plants health (chanting as it got more powerful, quiet and empty wind howling as it began dying) As well as some special random encounters or gambles that could reward or punish risky play. Great execution, especially for trying a new engine.

Spider Dash by Quacky22200 2020-05-07T18:18:37Z

Fun game. There are some slight things, like a more generous hitbox and some tighter movement, and this game would really be something else. Also, medium felt a little too hard for me personally.

Lich Clicker by Fictions 2020-04-20T20:54:32Z

Another High effort project. If I were to make a suggestion as to what could improve on, it would be about how there is no replayability. Other clicker games don't hard cap you in leveling up certain areas. Sure, it kind of breaks the game, but at the same time, that's where the fun is. I feel as though if the team spend some time working on making the game more engaging to play at the end, it would be a near perfect entry, because as of now, if you get to the end, you never really need to play it again as you already seen it all.

Horny Rhino by Hozoku 2020-04-21T15:50:41Z

Well, that was unexpected... Nice mechanics but I can't say I was a fan of the NSFW content.

Save The Bird! by F1Krazy 2020-04-21T16:48:49Z

Nice little game. Would have been nice to see some small two frame animation rather then just static images, and the friction was a little tight, but otherwise it was great!

Long Live The King by Taco truck games 2020-04-20T17:38:22Z

Needs a tutorial, it was really hard to understand what was going on. Also I don't know if this was my fault, but I kept on losing all of my guys in like a minute of playing the game...

Ecorobotical by TomekS 2020-04-20T05:12:13Z

Controls were a bit clunky, but the style and theme were very well designed!

Keep It Afloat by ZeGGamer 2020-04-20T15:35:30Z

@sanjuro Great Idea, I never thought of that! My play tester said I should publish it somewhere and I was running out of ideas. Thanks!

Keep It Afloat by ZeGGamer 2020-04-20T15:36:37Z

@lazzydev72 Yeah, I want to work on the controlls a bit more as it needs to click for the player for them to get to the late game. It works better with a controller, but not everyone has that.

Keep It Afloat by ZeGGamer 2020-04-21T14:35:35Z

@jk5000 @kent-reese @prackli Hey, if any of you respond to this that would be fantastic, and anyone else who sees this comments if you could reply as well that would be great.

What exactly is it that makes the controls so difficult? It's hard for me to tell because developer bias, So I'm curious. Please let me know your thoughts!

Keep It Afloat by ZeGGamer 2020-04-21T22:57:34Z

@linx Made a small bug fix and accidentally removed the jump text in controls. Opps!

Lights On by henriquecanella 2020-04-21T03:42:57Z

Fun Game, I like the different actions the player could make, they all felt good. Honeltly, the only suggestion I have is just tweaking little things and making small polishing improvements.

Faster fixing speed, Not being able to be killed by an enemy if they are stunned, animation for fixing, Sound effect for the process of fixing, Less floaty Jumping controls,

Those are just the things I noticed. Hope you do well!

Darkness Draws Near by GibsS 2020-04-20T20:35:15Z

Fun and creative. One of the most atmospheric games I've played so far, and it was a treat. I always lost but it was still fun. There was also a lot of polish and intricate details like the tips when you die and the different enemy types. It was also really hard, but it fit the game well. Definit high scorer!

Prophet by marcell-balog 2020-04-22T17:20:23Z

Fun game. It would have been nice if you could have an arrow at the start of the game to show the player, and signal that you are the little dude not the robot. Also, it would be fun if you had like a stun gun or something to stall the enemies just to give the player something else other then (get materials, buy upgrade, get materials, buy upgrades.)

Amadiro by Dani Desa 2020-04-20T21:49:37Z

Fun Art Style. I like the ideas, but there were several times where it was impossible to survive, which makes the game less desirable to play because the thought that at any time you can just get unlucky and have your run killed is off putting.

STEM by Kaleido 2020-04-20T15:34:05Z

Fun game, very few jam games usually keep me around til the end but this was a nice change of pace!

The art was clean and consistent, the gameplay was unique, although the connection to the theme was a bit lacking as there were no real threats aside from you just getting stuck without red blood cells comming to save you.

I would love to see some kind of viral threat you have to combat against as you begin to explore around, as well as speeding up the process as for the first 5 minutes I was stuck waiting for proteans to load which isn't very fun.

Overall, good foundation, but needs some more content as well as some form of threat.

also some way of locating the nucleotides for a cost would be great, or at least some reward for exploring.

Volty's Quest by Casey Macneil 2020-04-21T17:02:03Z

Fun Romp, most of my critiques are nit picky things like the run animation looking dull, or the glass breaking not feeling just right. It's a good product, and it shows!

Throwy Bird by Foo - Squashed Games 2020-04-20T22:19:22Z

Took thirty attemps and I finally got 2!

Ahoy! by Basileios 2020-04-20T17:59:09Z

The game was really interesting. The mechanics were interesting but some things like the turning was not refined at all. The wind was a neat idea though, but it takes a while to understand, and its much more of a determining factor then in other games that use it. (Like golf games have wind but it doesn't things dependent on them.)

Fish Flop by OgelGames 2020-04-20T16:18:35Z

Never thought I would enjoy tossing a fish around. It was fun, but the game could use some love visually.

Think, red comming in from the sides if your close to dying, your fish rotating and looking based on his direction, that sort of stuff.

Cool game, would love to see more!

platformEGG by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-04-21T21:44:17Z

Fun Platformer. There was an odd design decision for player death that was off putting. Having to return back to the start after each death was harsh, and to put an extra barrier for returning to the game if you did die via a death room was uncesssessary, especially for a Jam game. Just my thoughts. Maybe I'm being too harsh :)

Out of Juice by Mungo_ 2020-04-22T15:46:15Z

Fun concept. I think it was a little unintuative and hard to pick up the fact that the player can wall jump without wasing energy, and the lack of sound effects didn't help much with this. But aside from that the game shows promise and a high degree of polish. Nice Job.

Slime Mama by Jack Kaloger 2020-04-21T15:39:38Z

Fun Little Romp. Loved the effort put into the end cutscene, even though it could have been a little more polished. Wish There were food transport systems or a way of bringing food back in bulk to help emphasise exploring because when you can only bring one food item back at a time its hard to justify going far out when you will waste precious time on one food item.

Windy The Indie by Douwe_Ravers 2020-04-20T16:27:31Z

Fun game, the mechanics are great, it was just a little lacking in polish. sounds for buying items or trying to purchase something when you're out of money. consistency in art, that sort of thing. I will say maybe make the ending less dramatic. It scared me a little :)

Order of The Phoenix by Arvuti 2020-04-20T17:42:43Z

High effort, just goes to show what teamwork can accomplish!

The last baby ninja by SeabirdDigital 2020-04-21T04:59:55Z

Fun and interesting game. It was a little difficult to tell where the enemy projectiles were, and how the game relates to the theme based soly on the product alone. The text faded away way to quickly which is why that may be the case. Also, it would have been really cool if killing the enemies and taking care of the baby were some how linked. I don't know, just my thoughts. Cool game though!

Reload by Waqar Naeem 2020-04-20T17:04:31Z

never worry about what your first game turns out like. Just know that it will only get better as you work on it! Keep up the good work

Sukiyaki RUNNER Grisha by danek 2020-04-20T19:47:29Z

Creative Style, was a little jaring at first but I got use to it

Flammo - Keep The Fire Alive by Team Prosit 2020-04-20T14:33:21Z

I feel the game really suffers from a lack on instruction in game. A tutorial level with text would be simple, but really elevate this to the next level. Also coyote jumps and jump buffers would be a great addition.

Apple Panick by peterfiftyfour 2020-04-20T18:22:34Z

This game was really good, and it has a lot of potential.

The art is the best aspect of this game, and it shows the time and care put into it. The audio however was a bit dull and felt weak during the gameplay. There was also a lack of direction, as It was only after I played for a while before I realised I needed to throw my items down into the abyss. This normally comes from developer bias, and it always helps to watch players test it before you upload something so you can see how they react with any given build.

This was however a very unique take on the theme, and I applaud such creativity!

Hamloon by NoelOskar 2020-04-20T19:56:06Z

Like others have mentioned, the game starts off a little slow, but it had other redeaming qualities. The art is fun and its nice to see the world slowly scroll up behind you as you play the game. The sound was a little lacking, but the effects were nice. I also loved the health being designated by bandaids. It was funny playing this because I also made a game about flying in a hot air balloon and this went into another completely different direction.

Nice work, also I like how you can damage your own balloon. Nice touch!

Alive by Exainz 2020-04-22T15:38:12Z

couldn't play because the screen resolution blocked out all of the different corners of the screen. (Playing on a large monitor so this is an issue that sort of just effects me.)

Tchoo Tchoo by fojlip 2020-04-21T16:53:10Z

Cute Game. Some simple background music would have been nice to see, and some nice and jucy sound effects always make a game feel great to play. (Maybe even some screen shake would be nice!)

Social Distancing For LadyBugs by mehrdadsh 2020-04-21T15:43:38Z

Good work. I Think the game would do well with some love put into the UI. Custom or well chosen fonts as well as the usage of health bars and such can build a lot of character into a game for a little effort. The UI in this game was a bit basic, so I think it would help a lot if you put in time for UI into your next project.

Dr. Statnil's Dodo Egg by Voidsay 2020-04-20T15:02:12Z

Very creative way of interpreting the theme, it just was a bit difficult to get working and it was somewhat glitchy. Glad you pulled it off thought!

Skip A Beat by Zyger 2020-05-07T18:09:40Z

Couldn't get the game to regester inputs, but I came from your video and saw gameplay for myself. Very polished and well rounded. Liked the art style as well. I did find it odd for some things like the lack of a quit button seeing as it opened up in fullscreen automatically for me, so I had to force quit to get out of it. Overall though, nice entry.

Solar Spin by Matt Burton 2020-04-20T19:40:09Z

This was a pleasure to play. It was a bit difficult to understand without something telling you to dodge the objects, as from the start it appeared like you needed to shoot them, but once it clicked, it clicked hard. The music and style was very fun, with the only critique being that the theme integration boiled down to don't die, rather than keeping something else alive. That could have been your goal and I'm just an idiot, but those are my ideas. Keep up the good work!

Rhythm Castle - Platformer/Rhythm Game by GrizzliusMaximus 2020-04-22T16:01:02Z

Nice and clean game. Found it hard to navigate and some of the base movement options were hard to pick up on. Art was really pretty and the music was jamming.

Snail Guard by bredcrumb 2020-04-20T18:10:52Z

First off, the game said it was right mouse to pick stuff up bit it was left for me...

Otherwise, the game as fun but suffered from a small camera size. It was hard to see what was coming for me until I was already dead... It would have been helpful if I could see the enemies before they could see me so that I as the play could react and make a plan and keep the snail alive.

Good potential, just make the camera wider.

The Box by OskarDev 2020-04-20T22:32:52Z

Fun little puzzle game. Loved the polish and the looks. Sound was a little bland, but the gameplay was great. Loved the development of the mechanics and their correlation to the theme!

Cute Noms by Qyr 2020-04-20T22:05:51Z

The game was really pretty, and it controlled nicely too. It would have been cool if the little apple dudes or whatever's were placed randomly so that it was more exploratory and less about finding the spawn locations and rushing towards them. Great result though and with only two people, its really impressive.

CAN you stay alive? by Gorypixels 2020-04-22T15:28:42Z

Very fun, It was very hard to survive as the enemies always felt like an unstopable force, so it was a little disheartening as nomatter what I did it all was to no avail. It would have been really cool if you started off with a bunch of material and 10-30 seconds of prep time before those waves started coming at you. You could have different maps or more can that get targeted so that you have to divide your forces amongst different areas. Just my thoughts, but that's what I would do in this instance. good foundations though.

PS, wish there was Music.
