I love the scene progression and simple but challenging mechanics. I used all my band-aids on accident before I ever got popped >.<

bjakubowski 2020-04-20 02:11

Great game, need to find some kind exploit to make this little bud faster

vectrex28 2020-04-20 02:41

I'll second the scene progression bit, I thought it was a really nice touch. Overall this has the potential to be a good arcadey game, I've had fun with it. I think it would benefit from making it clear you can drag the mouse around (at first I was only clicking the nails), and from some enemy variety. Not bad :)

cannedveg 2020-04-20 02:46

Had a fair bit of fun with this! I also didn't realise I could drag the mouse but that made it a bit more challenging!

meelo 2020-04-20 02:46

The graphics are really cute - the field of mushrooms made me quite happy to see. I think it'd be nice if the difficult had increased faster - and perhaps in more meaningful ways than having more pins and faster pins thrown at you - because I got a bit tired of doing an easy task before there was any challenge (and then it seemed like it was easy to lose all your bandages in one bad incident - maybe some time of invincibility after being hit would help?).

rafael-pontes 2020-04-20 02:47

I like the concept and the art. It's all very cute and tidy! The game rules are very clear upfront. The needles/nails are pretty hard to see when the balloon is passing by the forest, though. People playing on smaller/darker displays would have a hard time. Maybe you could add more contrast with other colors or adding some visual cue to the nails. To enhance controls, I'd suggest making a toggle for the mouse so that we don't need to keep the left button pressed the entire time to destroy the nails. I'd also add more speed-ups. I got anxious for being so slow. lol Looking forward for more games! Keep it up! :)

It is a simple yet fun concept that could be easily be a small pass-time on mobile. I love the scene progression. It's a nice touch.

Sadly the nails themselves are hard to see, and certainly the vignette effect doesn't help for that matter. Maybe you should state that you could drag the mouse cause I certainly see other people just clicking... and that's hard enough to do with such small nails. (and maybe add a toggle? my finger hurt after my attempts)

Overall, still a good entry! Well done~

I choose you Hamtaro. Hamtaro used scratch.

Feel like the game didn't start until 500m, after quite some time with very little difficulty. Took a while to reaslize you could swipe, but felt good once I figured that out. Some enemies can be very tricky to see. I like the mechanic where you pop your own balloon, adds some risk to letting enemies even get to close.

Game is cute, fun, and simple. The backgrounds looked nice and gave a sense of progression, though I believe it starts to loop after ~2000 meters and turning very dark, making it harder to see.

mhykah 2020-04-20 04:03

Fun game! I got to 1465m.

Holding down the mouse button was tiring, wish it could just follow my mouse. Some music would've been nice.

The art is cute!

zilyanus 2020-04-20 10:23

Cute grafic with simple mechanic this game very entertaining

malai 2020-04-20 12:04

This hamster reminds me of someone...

sewerbird 2020-04-20 16:14

For whatever reason, it played at very low framerate in Chrome, so I wasn't really able to get above 5m. Very cute game though!

arvuti 2020-04-20 18:19

Starts off a bit slow, so the first few minutes can be kind of off putting. Very satisfying otherwise, I also thought the visual progression as you are slowly getting higher and higher was a nice touch.

zeggamer 2020-04-20 19:56

Like others have mentioned, the game starts off a little slow, but it had other redeaming qualities. The art is fun and its nice to see the world slowly scroll up behind you as you play the game. The sound was a little lacking, but the effects were nice. I also loved the health being designated by bandaids. It was funny playing this because I also made a game about flying in a hot air balloon and this went into another completely different direction.

Nice work, also I like how you can damage your own balloon. Nice touch!

wormholegames 2020-04-20 20:19

I watched you make this game on Discord, Im Bokkie remember, Pyrocynical :D Nice game though, I got to 1313 m. I really like the visuals. Good job!

binaryprinciple 2020-04-20 20:20

I like it, although nails sometimes get hard to see.

squeg-inc 2020-04-20 20:27

I died a bit inside when the hamster dropped into the abyss - DAMN YOUR INCREDIBLE PIXEL-ART

all seriousness though - this is awesome, my only complaint is that the sfx were a bit jarring on the ears. Still, I love this and it'd make a great mobile game!

2020-04-20 20:29

Cute, and the background really looks very good. It can be a bit slow at start but once things take up speed it becomes really interesting.

noeloskar 2020-04-20 23:35

@sewerbird what's your pc specs? and have you tried windows/linux build? because desktop build may run better than webgl one

grizzliusmaximus 2020-04-22 08:31

Fun game with simple mechanics! I might be dumb and stupid but it usually ends up with me panicking which results in an accidental slash to the balloon. I see a lot of potential in this game! Good job!

keybol 2020-04-22 11:59

Simple game, hard to understand at first but once you get it you can easily avoid hitting the balloon. The incoming nails are also very easy to hit. I don't think I'll die anytime soon so I stopped playing the game. I like how there's new background as I went up, but it was just the view of the trees after a long while so I felt there's nothing new to be introduced in the game. It's a nice fun game to try though in this game jam. Keep it up!

noeloskar 2020-04-22 12:59

@keybol game has ending if you reach 10 000 m, if you reach it on hard, you will get a secret ending :) probably no one gonna reach it but it's there

yxmx-rsx 2020-04-22 17:49

Quite fun and easy to get into. My highest is 1089. Wish my mouse didn't affect the balloon, but then it would have been too easy. Good job!

nk-x-x 2020-04-24 17:52

Made it 1159! Pretty cool little game with lovely art - mechanically, we kinda made similar games. I do really like games that require mouse dexterity, so this was my kind of thing.

I did find a lot of the difficulty came from the nails being hard to see against the background. I'm not sure if that was deliberate (or just my eyesight heh) but a slight little glow around them maybe would have helped me a lot.

The armour pickups felt a little unnecessary, when I got them? I wonder if it'd be a cool feature if they popped up right when you're about to get hit by a bunch of nails at once as a twitch-reaction way to escape death.

cheesepencil 2020-04-24 17:59

Cute and simple, looks great plays well. I gave it a few attempts, tried it on a touchscreen too. Could use some BGM but I liked it.

firellon 2020-04-25 09:43

Got to 760 m, was fun!

Feels like nails' speed should differ depending on the direction you are getting them from, since the ones flying from top/bottom are currently way more dangerous since you have less time to react. Some backstory for the hamster and some facial expressions for the hamster could help get a bit more invested into it, too.

teto 2020-04-25 16:39

A cute game although it took me a sec to figure out the actual mechanic and I did end up popping myself 3 times before figuring it out! As mentioned before, it does get quite repetitive although the changing background is nice to see as it scrolls.

mathstr0fficial 2020-05-01 00:10

I really enjoyed this game, it's very simple and doesn't overstay its welcome. My favorite part was definitely graphics, they're very simplistic but yet also very charming. My biggest complaint is honestly that I would've liked some background music, but time constraints are what they are. With a bit more development, I could easily see this as a mobile game I'd pay $0.99 or whatever for. It feels very suited to touchscreen, and has that simple gameplay that works very well for mobile gaming. Whatever you do with it, I'm excited to see more from you in the future!
