LD46 — Keep it alive

Ball Keeper by JCMonkey 2020-04-20T05:38:21Z

What a really fun concept! I've never played anything like it, and yet it didn't take me long to get the hang of it. The BGM was low key great, and the little announcements had a great quality to them. All in all a fun game :)

Keep It Alive by jahndis 2020-04-18T21:05:54Z

Very interesting, especially for 280 characters!

Eternal Flame by Galgris 2020-04-20T02:01:51Z

The camera movement caught me off guard a few times, but I enjoyed the puzzle platformer type mechanics. I thought "Z" was 2, so it took me a minute to figure out how to get the game started, but I enjoyed it after that :)

VillageQuake by Kontroman 2020-04-19T14:37:09Z

Love the soudtrack! For some reason it was really hard for me to see which buildings were damaged to repair them. I kept loosing even though it wasn't clear what building collapsed.

Sky Fyre Ruins by TCiceroDev 2020-04-20T15:10:25Z

The soundscape was great. I only found two oils before my stick burned out. :( Totally nothing bad happened after my torch ran out of oil. Nothing bad at all >.< Probably should have tried in fullscreen, but the mouselook on the WebGL kept getting stuck.

Party Killer by Brackeys 2020-04-20T16:15:15Z

It was probably due to an issue with my own controller, but I couldn't get the game to start even pressing X and A, I did see the little widget moving around when I bumped the control stick though.

Egdar's Blobs by Noa Calice 2020-04-24T17:29:12Z

Very similar feedback to everyone else. Fun soundtrack, animations, art, story line, and playgrounds. The camera kept pulling me away from the object I was trying to interact with though. Great submission, very polished considering the timeframe!

Broken Threads by Jeremy Ryan 2020-04-20T04:47:52Z

I really enjoyed the gameplay, music, and arwork. The shutdown, not quite as much :P I appreciate the warning to save my work, but I didn't expect that.

Keep It Alive by mhykah 2020-04-20T04:33:35Z

If I could give you a 6/5 for humor I would!

Burndown by Symnel 2020-04-20T01:54:23Z

I survived! ... but my friend did not. Might have to replay and see if I can get an alternate ending ;)

F E E D by Delightfullymad 2020-04-20T15:17:12Z

Great job drawing the evolution of the dark god. That was my favorite bit. The sounds fit the graphics, and the controls were intuitive. I think I grew my god too quick, and ran into a scarcity problem at the end, but it was a fun play.

Double AA by fakeyou 2020-04-19T23:41:04Z

Very unique idea! I like it. The graphics and animation are simple, but fun. Great job!

IcyNoid by XCVZXC 2020-04-21T14:37:26Z

Very similar idea to my entry. Great colors and pixel art. The music was really catchy too.

Typosaurus by MatthewPattel 2020-04-22T15:16:41Z

The words coming in from the left of the screen were really hard. I didn't know how to start some of the words until after the dino was right at the egg. Other than that I really enjoyed it.

Lights On by henriquecanella 2020-04-20T18:35:11Z

Fun game mechanics. How to use the flash/attack aren't very clear, and I felt like I kept dying without understanding why. Pixel art, animations, and lighting were great!

Keep IT Fed by Jammin 2020-04-20T15:45:29Z

I was wondering if anyone was going to bring in IT. Solid 5/5 on theme ;)

Keep it alive by Wikers 2020-04-20T02:12:30Z

Very challenging, but easy to understand.

My Pet's Dungeon by N.O. Games 2020-04-20T03:42:10Z

I was really enjoying it, but after making some progression I suddenly couldn't flee two fights in a row. Also I died eating pizza my first play through? Overall enjoyed it.

Chaincards by Federico Giorgi 2020-04-21T02:13:23Z

If I have one criticism, it's that the battle system being where it at kept my attention away from the great artwork!

Reckless Brave by dimlight 2020-04-21T15:42:47Z

I love the whole concept. Fun idea to play around with for sure!

STEM by Kaleido 2020-04-20T15:41:04Z

This was a lot of fun to play. Graphics and sound were simple, but solid. Controls were easy to understand. Not too challenging, but fun, low stress, and enjoyable. I could see this being a solid base for a much bigger game :)

Feed Your Starter!!! by Papabirb 2020-04-19T14:48:29Z

I made it 18 seconds! Then I realized I needed to go feed my starter BRB.

ALL CAPS: The Incident at Puppy Canyon by KyMakesGames 2020-04-20T05:29:56Z

Took me a minute to figure out what I was supposed to do, but I am now typing this comment at about 240 characters per second.

Spirit Quest: Journey to Devil's Mound by TheseusInABottle 2020-04-20T03:56:14Z

I really enjoyed the humor, the audio, and the graphics. The battles did get a little repetitive after a few fights, but overall a great submission.

..at any cost by Igoreshka 2020-04-20T04:55:26Z

Try as I may, I couldn't get the controls to work consistently. Great graphics and animation. Cool ambience.

Tomb Of Ice by Vectrex28 2020-04-20T03:28:17Z

I love that this was an NES game, and the pixel art was great! Fantastic submission :)

HiJinx by DarriasArt 2020-04-20T05:19:02Z

Controls were a little strange to figure out (including how to quit), but the artwork and BGM were really great!

It's Not Rocket Science by Gallahron 2020-04-20T14:01:06Z

Totally thought I had hit the jackpot when I got my rocket to orbit a gravity well, then a big ball of fire came and proved me wrong!

Slime Mama by Jack Kaloger 2020-04-21T01:56:42Z

Fun concept and great mechanics. It took me the better part of the first play through before I realized I could wall jump. I did have some issues picking up some of the objects up higher for some reason, but all in all I would play again :)

Bomber Escort (or boomer escort) by thatOtherNerd 2020-04-20T01:58:34Z

I never did like escort missions >.< Solid mechanics. As frustrating as the slow turns are, they definitely make things more deliberate and thought out.

Flower Defense by Evolving 2020-04-20T05:26:21Z

Having something to show player health would have been really helpful. I wasn't even sure if I was taking damage until I was flashing red. Fun little flower defense game.

Pixel Man 2 Odyssey by Crazy_axes13 2020-04-18T21:04:32Z

Compo rules, game has to be done from scratch in 48 hours, demo was uploaded to newgrounds 4/7? Am I missing something?

Life of a Ball by Supereo 2020-04-18T20:56:21Z

Great that you included art and music. I think some context about what you're doing, story, motivation, clear objective, might help keep people engaged.

Caterpillar Quest by TurtleFlyte 2020-04-20T17:30:54Z

Simple, nice style/art, easy to pick up. I really appreciate the way you gave the little announcement as to where the enemies were coming from.

Hamloon by NoelOskar 2020-04-20T02:09:30Z

I love the scene progression and simple but challenging mechanics. I used all my band-aids on accident before I ever got popped >.<

YOUR RAGING SPIRIT by madbookstudios 2020-04-20T03:23:05Z

Some of the background/foreground camera movement threw me off a little, but the more I got a hang of the controls the more fun it was. Thanks!

Balloon Operator by Bit Assembly 2020-04-19T14:52:50Z

Made it through level 1. Did not survive level two. I was unable to keep it alive :( Simple, but engaging. Good job with the on screen descriptions of what is happening. Very clear directions and purpose.

Watch Your Head by MrFluffySheep 2020-04-20T04:30:18Z

I really like this. The mechanics take just a moment to figure out and it gives enough control to be able to feel like you're really pulling off some crazy stunts.

Space Maze by nodice 2020-04-20T04:37:36Z

A little more clarity on what the objective is (and how to quit) would have helped a lot. Very interesting!

The floor is lava! by CuriouslyCory 2020-04-20T03:31:23Z

@mrfluffysheep I'm afraid it's just looping 4 blocks of notes. It was my first time trying to compose anything like this. Definitely learned a lot.

The floor is lava! by CuriouslyCory 2020-04-20T03:47:13Z

@theseusinabottle Thank you for the feedback! There's so much more I wanted to do with it, given the time and skill. I totally agree about bounce sound variation. I might just put some more time into it after this is all over and put it out there on itch.

The floor is lava! by CuriouslyCory 2020-04-20T05:08:46Z

@papabirb I recorded my 4 year old saying "woohoo" a few times, layered them, added reverb, and a pitch adjustment, so... yeah, you're spot on. My appologies for the volume, I was trying to match it to the rest of my system sounds, but a simple volume control menu probably would have gone a long way.

ProtectTheCrystale by muhsen_g 2020-04-22T15:03:49Z

I really liked the pixel art, and the sound effects. Charge up shots always make me happy for some reason as well. Nice feature add. Took me a while to find the "fire" button and when I did windows kept asking me if I wanted to turn on sticky keys every 8 shots. Found the instructions the second time under "info", maybe on screen instructions would help?

Jump to Die! by C. Ryder 2020-04-19T14:55:16Z

Really interesting concept. Simple but straight forward.

Life Ablaze by Gerbo 2020-04-20T01:00:41Z

I agree with most of the other feedback. Great concept, tuned maybe a little too hard, but great job!

Life Ablaze by Gerbo 2020-04-20T01:00:50Z

I agree with most of the other feedback. Great concept, tuned maybe a little too hard, but great job!

Life Ablaze by Gerbo 2020-04-20T01:00:52Z

I agree with most of the other feedback. Great concept, tuned maybe a little too hard, but great job!

campfire by jonah 2020-04-20T01:48:44Z

Really neat! Fun little strategy game. Music and graphics meshed well. Easy to pick up and understand, hard to master :)
