LD42 — Running out of space

Wells cleaner by Sublustris 2018-08-15T13:40:22Z

It look me longer than I care to admit to realize that shooting the gun had recoil by which I could move: could maybe point that out with a quick banner, because it made me think the game was broken for about 3 minutes, haha. I liked the visuals, and I'm a sucker for fart sounds, so: good go!

Field of Bodies by muriel 2018-08-15T13:54:54Z

Blah, couldn't get past the controls after four tries. I understand abstractly what I'm supposed to do, but I'd've been greatly helped if the view 'rotated' with my orientation.

Kingdom Brunel in the Temple of Teacakes by Temmy 2018-08-13T14:32:36Z

Sensitivity of controls was pretty touchy, but I really liked the sound design. It was a little difficult to see, and the motion was a bit floaty, at least for me. Good show though :)

Final Voyage by Simon Rahnasto 2018-08-16T15:15:39Z

Very polished for just a few days! I'll admit I didn't get super far, since I didn't quite crack a strategy. But I thought the art was quite good, and I liked the voice-overs. I was a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out what to build for defenses, and I didn't have a very strong idea of what things to prioritize: the spread was intense. But my inability to play RTS games doesn't stop me from giving this a big thumbs up

2954: Robot Puzzler by sewerbird 2018-08-13T13:21:46Z

@hierarch Apologies! I'm on mac so wasn't able to test the windows executable. Try my just-made web version of 2954: http://sewerbird.github.io/scripts/LudumDare42/index.html

@mza Were you on an empty tile? The "Advanced Knowledge Unit" mentions that you can only drop diskettes on empty tiles in the second level. If you were on an open square, let me know: it seems to be working on my end

80-tnite by kamilko 2018-08-15T13:46:29Z

It's alright: respectable entry for learning TIC-80. I did find myself quickly dashing to get the mining axe: it's reusable? Because I just ran to get it and dug right to the exit, so the game felt 'mastered' almost immediately.

Uroboros Initiative by hierarch 2018-08-13T10:02:50Z

I definitely thought it was intriguing, but I just couldn't really wrap my head around what to do. I delayed what seemed like the inevitable, making as many and as large triangles as possible to contain the mutating squares, but not actually sure how I'm supposed to win. It had a definite mood though!

MASTER OF POWER (vs jealous villagers) by randdir 2018-08-13T14:45:25Z

I'll echo the issue about the controls being clunky on dual-monitor: window-locking would've been real nice. I also got stymied at the menu until I realized I had to click and hooold the menu buttons to make them work. I loved the music you composed, it had a good theme, and the graphics seemed right out of Final Fantasy for the folks. I was expecting some more interesting mobs to show up, or for the level to end at some point, but was a nice 5 minute romp: I got to 700!

JUNKYARD by NOTBADGUN 2018-08-15T13:06:15Z

Hah, very nice! If you were to revisit/expand this though, I *REALLY* was expecting big combos to "dig me deeper": if you have a really high score, you really ought to have tunneled deep into the landfill :)

Defragmentare: Bring Order to Chaos by monkeydom 2018-08-15T13:34:22Z

Made me wish I had taken the defragmentation algorithms class back in college! Well executed over all, although there's something tactile-y 'off' about the moving of rectangles around. I understood the wrapping, but click-selecting-dragging wasn't always very snappy, which added some frustration. It felt challenging without being unfair, though, so I had a fun 10 minutes :)

ASCII CAVE by George Darling 2018-08-13T09:48:24Z

I can't see to crash anything, and there doesn't seem to be any guns to shoot off. It's not a big problem though because there aren't any enemies to shoot at :-)

Just needs more time: I like the idea of a text-based 1944 game. Compo crush?

Guardian of the Flame by Mathstr0fficial 2020-04-20T16:18:35Z

The audio is pretty nice. I kept trying to climb the vines but didn't figure that out, so I relied on screen wrapping. Nice!

By Jove by sewerbird 2020-05-09T17:22:54Z

Agreed: it ended up being more of a tech demo in the end more than a game.

Hamloon by NoelOskar 2020-04-20T16:14:06Z

For whatever reason, it played at very low framerate in Chrome, so I wasn't really able to get above 5m. Very cute game though!
