my first ever Game Jam, YAAAAAAAY
Great one! Simple and cool. Music is nice too.
I'm a fan of the BGM and the little jingle that plays when you swat a ladybug! I'm glad the swatter hitbox is really accurate because I had to do some pretty precision work here. Grats on your first game jam!
Neat concept. Congrats on completing your first game jam!
Nice, good job!
Nice music, great mood! Congrats on finishing your first jam
Simple but very fun! Music is nice for the mood. Keep calm and kill bugs!
Hey, this is a great entry. good job with the A.I. and the swarm behavior. It was a fun little game to play for a bit. I did find myself going for a high score. Which means you basically accomplished your goal in making a game like this.
All in all, good job and keep up the good work. I look forward to what you come up with next!
thank you guys, really means alot .
The hitbox of the swatter feels very good. It certainly keeps with the theme of these days :) I think I'd have liked for it to have more levels, and maybe some lives (so the first ladybug you squash isn't game over)
Cool Game) Like it)
Really like how infinitely repayable this is, a great time "Swatter". I enjoyed it.
This is a nice and most importantly completed game, I dig the music. The buttons after you lost are a bit too small to read. Good effort.
thank you guys :)
Nice game! :D Consider the bugcount in a "bugs alive / 75" way that gets bigger / gets red when you are almost at the limit. Personally I don't really pay attention to the bugcap now, because it forces me to look in the upper left corner instead of look for more bugs to smash. Loved the game! :)
thanks for input man :)
A very simple idea, but really good for your first Gamejam game! The UI could be a bit more visible and different enemies might be fun. But that's all future stuff! Well done!
Lovely music and fun to play game. I had my first entry this year also and I have to admit you did a great job delivering completed game which keep people trying to get the high score. Not sure if you remember game where the bugs where running on your desktop and you had a tools to kill them (flamethrower etc) but it left the same vibe in me and thats good i played the game a lot when i was younger. :)
Fun game. I kept replaying it to try and beat my high score.
Swatting a big group of bugs was very satisfying.
Nice progression, game feels good!
Hi there.
It was a fun game, oddly satisfying to kill them bugs :D The short background music loop was a bit annoying though.
Overall simple and fun, good job.
Very good execution for your first LD! Solid gameplay. It definitely got hectic!
thanks guys :)
simple but effective. definitely a 'just one more go' kind of game.
Super simple, super fun, and pretty well done. Reminds me of simple old flash games. Overall, fantastic!
Loved loved loved the splat sound when you squash the bugs. That alone made me stay longer than I probably would have / should have. Also the graphics were nice. Good job
Simple, but plays well. Good job.
Feels like a trip back to the beautiful Flash era. Audio is superb. The music loops after a short pause, but the amazing death jingle makes up for it. I highscored at 19815.
Fun and simple
Simple and fun! The difficulty gets nuts! lol great job!!
thanks guys, means alot to me, i only scored 15000 in my own game :)
Couldn't get pass 12K  I liked the game a lot, gave it a lot of tries to improve my score jaja. The music is very good, seems to fit well with the theme, the graphics too. I would improve the message's box. Other than that, nice job!
Very engaging game, love the soundtrack. Think it could escalate a little bit faster, maybe add a hard mode? :)
Great! Love the art, and congrats on your first game jam!
Great! Love the art, and congrats on your first game jam!
GODDAMN WASPS! Excellent game, nice lively feel. Top Work.
Am I the only one who target ladybugs instead bees ? (I prefere bee & their honey than ladybugs) ~~When you got a nest of ladybugs near of you home, you prefere to kill them and let bees live peaceful.~~
It's not a good choice to to kill something for save another one. :sob:
---
This game is a great work, you got a release ~~(even though I have some reservations about which insect I have to kill/save)~~ :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
The failure sound gave me good laugh. Fun game. Congrats!
WOW  Best score: 12345! Not joking. I don't like to kill animals usually but yes, the game is very funny. Love the art, the soundtrack is very cool but personally I don't think it fits so much (great death sound anyway!)
The game feels very good! Maybe i would reduce the hitbox of the flykiller. One great advice I got is that the geometry of the objects doesn't always have to match their hitbox! (Especially for everything that moves very fast (like bullets))
why i can't rate your amazing game on the audio :( great game nice job :))
Fun game! Really nice job.
This is the perfect jam game because its simple yet engaging. The music was very nice to listen to and the difficulty pacing was really fair but challenging
The sound effects were great and overall the game is great, but i think an interesting thing you could have done was to move the lady bugs more and have smarter enemies that move from your swatter a bit instead of just having many enemys.
The graphics are the best
2020-04-20 (3).png Very nice!
Pretty funny game, though I wish the bug limit was higher, I just liked swatting tons at once. I think it would be hilarious if there could be like 200 bugs on screen at once, not that it's important at all, I just think it would be funny.
Nice music and sounds, that sax sounds mmmm. Dissapointed that cannot rate "Audio", I would definitely rate it high
I was just enjoying a nice day in the sun, but suddenly I got swamped by bees! NOT THE BEES! Plenty of fun was had, but turns out I hit a ladybug and boy that bug was the real angry one. Game Over for me I guess!
thanks guy, i added Audio Rating, you can rate audio too
A simple idea, but well executed. The wasps' swarm mechanics look really cool.
thanks man, i worked alot of the movement A.I
This is a really fun and addicting clicker game! Long live the ladybugs!
Hihi, I love this game. You've made some good choices regarding the complexity of your game and it all comes together very nicely. The game doesn't have the nicest graphics and best sound loops, but the music and game play are catchy and I love the wink to our RL situation. This game does make quarantine a bit better. @mehrdadsh If this is your first LD Jam I would say keep up the good work and I'm curious for the next game you'll make!
thanks man, @xaynia, this means alot to me. cheers
I read like : social for distancing ladybugs. Similar issue with don't open dead inside meme :) Anyway, i really like the game. Nice mechanics and design assets. Good work!
very satisfying bug squishin
I play this like 30 min =) simple gameplay and relax music can kill all my time! =D GJ!
Great example of a game not having to be complex to be fun. The game mechanics are smart and effective. Well done!
Super satisfying to squash all the little bugs on the screen. This paired with the music lead to a very fun experience that was well polished. Great work :D!
Simple but addictive, and very satisfying to play.
thanks guys, (@pushkan), (@daanvanyperen,(@frozen-spirit),(@yeo-niki), means alot
This was so much fun ! Very simple yet adictive. The sound when you smash bugs is also very cool
Never i thought such simple concept can be so much fun)) LoL! A little reminded me fruit ninja when you accedentaly hit a bomb. Clever use of bigger bugs that start mixing all the crowd and make it harder to determin a lady bug!
Simple and fun game, would work well with mobile and touchscreens too? Nice audio btw!
Great job for your first game jam! Hopefully one of many more to come.
I liked the simple concept, it was fun and just the right amount of challenge. Could make a fun little mobile game if you added a few more features. It reminded me a lot of the Mario Paint Fly Swatter game from back in the day (maybe I'm dating myself).
As far as improvements, maybe make the swatter collision a bit smaller when it comes to hitting ladybugs. There were a few times where I hit ladybugs but I didn't really feel as though I should have.
Other than that, great job! I hope to play your next game at Ludum Dare 47.
Fun game, reminded me of that Mario Paint flies mini game, boy I loved that mini game. Cute graphics, nice sound effect, chilling music and an interesting level design. I have three notes though: • There should be a swap animation for the controllers to feel bit more responsive. • The first flies to show up should be the bigger ones and then proceed to get smaller as the difficulty increases, or the bigger flies should be able to stand more damage. You know, bigger target = easier to hit so should be adjust accordingly. • Finally, I think the ladybugs should not overlap each other, at a moment I had three of them to be at the exact same place and that drove me crazy looking for the missing ones so I wouldn't hit them.
I went up to 20300 points, great entry ♥
Impressive! Got 6600 points :D
Simple and fun! This game is like my first single game. I loved this nostalgic feel for me :) I'd like to play others games made to you.
Thanks guys and gals, i never tought to get so much nice reviews. :) yaaaaay anyone who gets more than 15300 points is officially better than me at my own game :)
Definitely fun, simple and addictive
Very lovely, and explaining the rules after losing was actually very helpful haha
Congrats on completing your first game jam, you did great!
Good work. I Think the game would do well with some love put into the UI. Custom or well chosen fonts as well as the usage of health bars and such can build a lot of character into a game for a little effort. The UI in this game was a bit basic, so I think it would help a lot if you put in time for UI into your next project.
Thank you everyone for your comments :). I love you guys @zeggamer , @slothtimistic , (@hcursino , ....
Funny idea! The music is great but doesn't fit the hectic gameplay. Audio work is nice also.
Gameplay is fun!
UI needs some work. Buttons were too small, text was a little stretched etc.
Ladybug and the first bug characters could use some color differentiation.
Very well done!
Great game. I love how you manage to get the social distancing situation in it too
Nice fun game! I like the concept of it, the music is nice and catchy, only really problems in full screen some of the scenes have blue walls or whatever you would call them to the side, which im guessing isnt supposed to be there but it happens (it happens a bit in my game too). But other than that overall it was an enjoyable game
Simple game, but it works ;)
Really cool game at all!
Excellent job! I really liked it and it's a fully functioning game.
:) thanks guys
Heh a nice little game. Someone here posted a highscore of 19k - what a baller, I can't get up to 10k!
I like the music - both the theme (it kinda doesn't fit the action, but also kinda does), and especially the death tune. I also think it's a great idea that you showed the rules _after_ the loss.
I love the music and sound design! My only real piece of advice to improve is to make the hitbox on the swatter slightly smaller than the swatter itself, even if it's only a few pixels. Doing this helps to avoid losses that 'feel' unfair even if they are accurate.
Edit: A better idea would probably be to make the bugs' hitboxes slightly larger than their sprites, and the ladybugs' hitboxes slightly smaller than their sprites.
I liked the subtle indication of how close to the limit you were, and the swatting of bugs was very satisfying. I was going to post my highscore, but the game didn't tell me what it was. I had some fun with it.
Woah, this was your first game jam? That's awesome, this is a pretty great entry, especially for the compo. I'm really impressed! You did a great job - the game is fun and the audio really makes it stand out. Being able to post high scores is pretty fun, I've liked seeing what other people got here in the comments. I had some minor complaints with hitboxes, but overall this is so good!
A very fun and charming little game. Love the music and the art style.Well done.
Congrats to your first compo :) The gameplay may be simple but it works well! Feels polished and is bug free. You even got a soundtrack and effects, which is not taken for granted!
One thing to improve the satisfaction of killing those pesky bees would be a nice animation of the fly swat... coming down on the little critters :D
Simple but effective !
The game is really simple but has all it needs to spend some good time playing, well done!
Classic example of simple yet fun gameplay. The concept of the game is very cute and has the potential to be very addictive. I can't think of any criticism for the game, which is uncommon, but it's simple enough to not really have any faults imo. Great entry. :)
Smashing bugs will never be more fun than this. Even though it kinda goes against the theme, it is a great game. I like the balancing and the increasing size of new bugs, that you can mistake for ladybugs. The sounds effects also make it feel really good. Keep up the good work!
You don't need complicated mechanics to make a great game.
Very nice! I think it would have been good to add extra points depending on the number of bugs squashed in any one swipe.
I never thought I'd enjoy squishing bugs, but I did! Really fun little game, good example of how a simple game can be very engaging and fun to play again and again. I'm not 100% sure I feel this hits the brief, it kinda feels like the opposite, but maybe that's just me? Either wa a great little game, that I'm sure I will come back to just to play again. :) x
I think my main qualm would be that the bug and swatter hit boxes aren't entirely clear which led to a few frustrating losses. But other then that I enjoyed it! Congrats on completing your first game jam!
Awesome succint, simple game that is really fun. The sound was really great also!
thanks everyone, im really happy right now :)
Like the background music and art, game was simple fun and completed. I found the text on the buttons a little hard to read. A found concept if you wish to add more to the game would be to add combos for how many u kill in a swat. Congrats on your first game i really enjoyed the experience.
Got 1335 on my first try, is that good? Was a little concerned about the lack of instructions to start, but got into the game and it was very straight-forward and intuitive (as it should be). Great for your first submission!
Cool concept:)
I had a lot of fun with this game - it was simple but something kept compelling me to keep trying for that high score. Congrats on your first game jam! XD
The game is kept simple but it does the job. I wish it was a bit less repetitive. Keep doing jams you'll get better and better :)
Simple yet fun to play. Don't know why but for some reason I thought other bugs are gonna attack ladybugs :) Good job!
Simple fun and awesome
Neat game for sure, made want to get a high score! Did like art and the gameplay. It's a simple concept but I like it. You should expand upon it after the jam is over for sure. Good Job on finishing, this was the first one I ever did with a team so its firsts for everyone : )
really simple but cool game! really liked it
Very addictive game with some more feedback when hitting and better music i can see myself playing for a long time.
Very simple but kinda addictive :D
This is exactly the kind of game I would have been hooked on as a little kid! My recommendation would be to reward hitting large numbers of bugs at a time. Perhaps a chime sounds each time you kill a bug, and the more bugs at once the higher the pitch and intensity/fan-fare. Hitting 10 at once should look and FEEL like a great deal!
Really enjoyed sound and presision of hitboxes.
The sound effects worked well for this game, and while it may not be the most complex of games it does what it does really well which is good. A recommendation I would make, if any, would be to reward the player for hitting more at a time, and giving the player an audio cue for that. Beyond that, it's a simple, but well-made game.
Coolio, enjoyed protecting the lady bug although more often than not I was the one responsible for its demise! Great effort all around, I'm amazed at what people can put together all on their own!
That's a really cute game, i enjoyed playing it. Just hard enough, just fun enough. Music is alse quite nice.
Simple but fun, and cute.
This is brilliant! Something about slotting the very edges of your panel into a tiny gap just next to the ladybugs to get rid of one or two bugs scratches a really specific itch. Maybe in some later version you could have differently-shaped paddles and different kinds of bug with different behaviours, for added complexity? I also love the topicality of it, and the splat sound effects. I scored 1335 on my best attempt.
Difficulty progression was good and it was fun to play. Tidy little game, good job!
Well done, fun game that has an addictive quality
Solid game for a first game jam. The art style is nice, and the mechanics are simple and fun.
Congrats on your first jam! Catchy, fun gameplay!
Very nice game. There is something very fun about games that involve clicking on things, and this one has enough of a twist that it works really well. The swarming behavior of the bugs is great and provides enough space for some strategy that when combined with the interestingly shaped and large swatter made me think a couple of times about the strategy that I approached with. The music was fun and fit the game well, and the jingle when I accidently hit a ladybug was quite good. Great work, especially for a first jam entry!
Really nice game! I tried my best but well, live gets in the way. A nice clicker adventure!
Hey @mehrdadsh, congrats on your first jam! You made a quite funny mini-game there. Its pretty well balanced and the AI seems good for its purpose. I felt like the ladybugs where too close to each other throughout the game. Nice music and art job.
This is a nice game for your first game jam :D Graphics are simple but clear, sounds are good. Maybe a little work on the UI would be great ^_^ Good job !
Great job! :D Smashing the insects feels very satisfying :sunglasses: Could you perhaps make the hitbox of the ladybugs a bit more forgiving? I often smashed them accidentally and was fairly certain they weren't really under my swapper ;) Very fun to play and kind of additive! Congrats!
Congratulations on your first jam game! The game plays nice and it's kind of relaxing for me for some reason... I don't know. The movement of the bugs is really well done. The ladybugs, on the other hand, are always too close together and easy to avoid.
Great job!
Nice music and an interesting idea. When hitting the wrong bug I always thought "Noooooooooo" :D Good quite addicting, to be honest.
What a fun and interesting gameplay loop for using swarm AI. Did you use boids or something similar? Loved the soundtrack and had to run and get my mouse for this one!
I was able to unload my frustrations from people who are not respecting social distancing on these bugs, thank you.
I played several times to beat my score and it was a satisfying experience (best 7620 on a touchpad :sunglasses: ). I would love to have something to keep my attention for longer, thou.
Best, Anna from 4boa team
I was surprised to find this quite enjoyable and ended up playing it over and over several times. There was somehing satisfying about smooshing those bees (like in real life). Great job for your first game jam!
Great job for your first game jam!I found myself playing again and again. Maybe you could add different swatters to choose from. Different bugs with different flying patterns. Many ways to expand upon this idea.
I liked how your swarming routine worked out, it was nice to see them clump together. I was trying to spot if you had designed as a single lead insect which all followed or if had all the neighbours influence the direction of their nearest neighbours. Would be curious what technique you went with in the end.
I had fun with the game, something cathartic about splatting all of them and mildly saddening when a ladybug was got :(
This is super cool! It got really fun when the big bugs started coming out and it got really crazy lol.
sc_temp.PNG
Gets pretty stressful at the end and brings more joy crushing bugs, than it should be :see_no_evil: Great entry!
very addicting! Couldn't stop replaying again and again :D Wise ladybugs, cool game! Good job with your first game jam!
Wow, i accidentally just kept killing the awesome lady bugs! xD Nice!
You took a really simple concept and made a super addicting game out of it! The art and music were very appreciated as well, so great work!
Nice work! Ended up playing a couple times to go for a high score. Great start to game jamming! :-)
Haha, I love the sound when you hit a lady bug! Its like a trhowback to a 90s TV show! I like you sound design the most. Even if I think that your sprites are also nice. I miss a little animation and a nicer UI. But of corse you know this and there was simply no time! xD (I feel you!) I also submitted my very first game to the LD Compo (and my first game published *lol*) and I think you did very well! Hope you join in October again!
Nice entry, love the funky music. Great work!
@madalaski thanks man, i used bird flock algorithm with some minor adjustment, each group follows a invisible goal that changes position every few seconds. @kjscott thank you, bird flock algorithm @bloham thanks, yes, i was dying at the end, i think i worked like 24 hours in those 2 days on this. :)
So simple and yet so engaging! Graphics is very pleasant and the jumpy music gives a nice rhythm to your bug-smashing efforts.
First time I pressed played, I immediately squished a ladybug, as I was expecting my bug-squishing implement to go on some king of arc, not just squish directly in front of itself. I got a groundbreaking score of 0 that time
And none of the bugs are wearing masks! Outrageous !
I'm impressed. Great job for first gamejam:)
I had a lot of fun playing it. It was very intuitive also. Great sounds effect. I miss animation of the ... "bug crasher?" this big gray thing xD
Simple but really well made game! Pretty addictive, I wanted to beat my highscore and that's always a good sign. I feel like the fly swatter's hitbox could be more forgiving and could have more feedback when you smash. But except these small things, I had fun playing it! Well done !
Its a nice game, Im gonna take a look at the swarm AI :ok_hand: Nice sounds and art too
Thanks for all your comments Everyone, (@joamd) (@qyouk) (@sheetcode) (@fabula-rasa)@madalaski @commanderstitch I'm a programmer(only know a little graphic design) looking for a graphic designer or a team to join and maybe work on new games, anyone interested? if you are interested email me please, thanks m.shahiri.m@gmail.com
Nice little game, which I could imagine playing on my phone. Very well coded, congrats !
At first i thought its a little too simple, but then i played like 5 times :D
Neat game! Definitely one of the better compo games I've played so far. The music is pleasant, the sounds work well. Reminds me of the fly swatting game in Mario Paint but with a twist.
This is a prime example of taking a simple concept and really focusing on the polish for that core game element. It makes for a very fun and engaging game and it is super clear how to play it.
Also the way you have different kind of enemies is a nice touch even though I don't think they had any other behaviour.
Sometimes in the heat of the moment I smashed the lady bugs which made me facepalm.
thanks man :) (@linus) (@thebreakfast) (@kwaku)
reminds me a lot of the mario paint fly minigame but easier. i like it a lot, a nice little bite sized game.
Nice game, it is a littel simple but there is a progression and it plays well
Cool game, even more for your first gamejam and compo ever! The graphism and feedbacks are giving a nostalgic feeling, I think programmer art is great here :>
Cool game, nice music and funny sounds. Simple idea well executet. Great for your first jam! Congrats!
The music is a bop! nice work!
Cool quick game. The music is was great, really good relaxation along with smashing some bugs :)
Solid entry for your first time! It works alright and the art is functional.
Very solid game for you your first game jam, specially a compo! Good job!
The game was super fun. It just needs better graphics. I was playing the game longer than I thought I would.
Very enjoyable! My 2 cents: the text on the buttons is difficult to read and sometimes I lose the game but don't know why because I did not hit any ladybug and the bugs number was way below 75
Quite solid entry. It needs some more variety and maybe UI rework. Other than that good job!
Nice one! Congrats on your first LD game. Hope it won't be the last one! :)
ladybugs_score.png
I did what I can, probably not too impressive though. :D
ladybugs.png
Excellent idea! I actually did a flocking algorithm this LD too. Kinda funny how you show the rules after the first fail. That got a chuckle out of me (after I splatted the ladybugs instantly on start). Could get rid of the second dialog box though.
It was a bit unforgiving. One missed more by a slight margin and it was over. I'd decrease the swatter hitbox radius so like the flys radius on the edge of it wouldn't kill anything (especially the ladybugs). Just grazing a ladybug currently kills them and while technically fair, it doesn't seem that way really. Having close calls (where player should actually lose) makes a game more actiony.
Very nice audio work. I really like the fail song bit, really fits it and hammers in the whole "oh you dun goofed" vibe. The art was good but very very static. First of all, should flip the sprite x scale so that the bugs face their movement direction. Also a simple wing flapping animation would do wonders. I mean it's super easy, just make them consist of three sprites, the base and one for each wing. Then just slap in an animator there and rotate the wings around to points and voila, you got a less static bug.
It was very hard to distinguish other bigger bugs from ladybugs the further the game got. I was just kinda squinting my eyes and focusing on red. It probably is quite impossible for colorblind people.
Would have liked to see the same fancy font used for all texts. Although, it could be quite unreadable. It already was quite hard to make out what the red circle buttons on dialogs were saying. But kudos at least for not using default unity buttons, so often see people use those without even changing the color.
The scoring could be improved too. I think (it's very hard to dissect right now too) it is very linear now. Getting more score the more you squash with one hit would make sense. Like so that if you kill 10 bugs with a single hit, you'd get more points than killing 10 individually.
Bug limit seemed too high. Even while idling, it takes ages to fail because of that and more often than not you just end up splatting a ladybug way before that.
Congrats on the first game jam and easily clearing the bar by making a fully functioning game. Good job!
(@antti-haavikko thanks for your comments man, really appreciated. if idecide to continue working on it i would defenitly use your comments
Cool idea. I would really like an animation for the fly swatter to make it feel more satisfying. Also sometimes the hitboxes felt a bit unfair, I think they could be made a bit more in favor of the player.
Congratulations on your first game!
Solid concept!
Honestly, there was a bit of lack of polish in presentation, but the gameplay is great. You took an innovative idea and executed it very well, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I feel like lots of games get caught up in presentation and making the game feel and look good, and forgot to make it fun, but you had a good foundation and I enjoyed myself. The game gets faster quickly, but the high bug limit still makes it feel too easy. Despite the slightly unpolished graphics and pretty solid but mildly repetitive music, it was a very good experience and was pretty fun. Good job!
Bringing the satisfaction of eliminating pests to the internet. Wonderful
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt since it's your first game jam, but I found your two music tracks on Freesound: - [Losing music](https://freesound.org/people/milton./sounds/86865/) - [Game music](https://freesound.org/people/TexasMusicForge/sounds/173066/)
From the official rules for Compo:
> Your game, all your content (i.e. Art, Music, Sound, etc) **must** be created in **48 hours.**
Again, it's your first event, so you may have not noticed the details in the rules, but this casts doubt on the legitimacy of all of the other assets in your submission as well, and gives you an unfair advantage over Compo entries that correctly made everything from scratch.
**Edit:** Thanks for opting out and for clarifying. The rules can sometimes be confusing for the first few events, so it's understandable you made an error. Best of luck for the rest of the event and any future jams you do!
thank you for informing me. i read the rules again and you are right. i thought when it said you could use free library that means free sounds too. this is my first jam ever and i did not know that. i removed the Audio rating from my game. but i have created everything else in my game my self. you could check that in the source files, i even put the psd files.
also added the sound files link to the post.
Cute little game, funny name too.
I like how satisfyling it is
.
thank you
Very cool game. I really liked how smooth it plays and how it makes you want to break your high score over and over again. Music works really well with the game and as others have pointed out, the flocking behavior is pretty cool to look at here.
Overall pretty fun little game! Kudos!
thanks man @jaywoody
Simple but effective and satisfying gameplay. It reminds me these old fashioned games in flash! It happened to me that a labybug suddenly appeared where I was about to smash, making me lose. Maybe you could make the ladybug temporarily invincible when poping up.
Nice compo entry. Not much of a gameplay but what is there is nicely executed.
The only thing I've noticed is that the collision for the paddle is somewhat too big. I kept killing a ladybug and I'm sure the paddle wasn't really over one...
But all in all, cute entry
Keep up the good work.
Very nice little game! I really like the idea and it does get challenging the longer you play. Loved the AI movement, work really smoothly. The gameis quite polished overall as well. Great job for the first game jam!
I love the game play and the name of the game! The graphics were awesome, and the game felt very polished. Very strong game jam entry! I was kind of wondering how many flies were going too be on my screen. Good job, and keep it up!
Feels nicely polished an like a compete game. Satisfying and tactile. I love the swarm movements!
Congratulations on your first entry! I like how you had your tutorial on the end screen. The game loop was so quick, that this caused no frustration and added some humor. Great job!
bugs.jpg
Nice game ! Not too hard, but not too easy, and makes the player want to try it a few times.
A nice and simple game that suits with the theme perfectly. It would be great if another mechanic like the other bugs will attack the big ladybugs slowly.
Nice ,the bug squishing noise is funny. I thought I had it mastered until the bigger flies came along, then I started killing the ladybirds. :frowning:
Nice simple art style, and a well exceuted, playable game!
The only tiny tiny thing, was the button graphics being scaled down and unreadable. ( see screenshot from @joemid )
I see somebody says it's too easy... Well, maybe I'm too chaotic :D but for me the game wasn't that easy. Anyway it's a good timekiller, well done
Squashing those bugs was oddly satisfying. You did a great job with the visuals and sound effects there! I got to 9985 until accidentally touching a ladybug :(
Pretty good for your first jam, simple game but well made.
Nice simple concept, though I felt sorry for some of the other insects. Including the bigger bugs later on definitely helped to up the ante and make things more challenging. I also appreciated the subtle colour change when you bug-count started edging towards the higher end of the spectrum. With this sort of game it's easy to become super involved and just end up playing it endlessly trying to beat your own high score, so you definitely nailed the engagement aspect. Nicely done, and congrats on your first JAM!
thanks everyone, means alot. (@vesper)@naca),(@sibi)(@kiddychris),(@johnnysix), (@larsspawn), (@madewink),(@joemid)
Fun Game!
sweet Little game. :v: Keep it up
A sweet little game, especially considering this is your first gamejam and all done by yourself :) the graphics are one of the best I've seen done by a programmer, the bugs looked really cute and the music was sweet and I loved the whole premise, very cute :D The music was also very well chosen, made me happy. <3 I didn't notice any bugs (at least none without manners! Because like "ladylike", get it?! teehee) and the controls were easy and smooth :) Managing to get a hold of a huge amount of bugs and squishing them all at once felt really cool, hehe :D Sadly, I couldn't save all the ladybugs :( Really impressive for a gamejam! :D Some small visual tips I can give: try to look for a nice font next time (if there is enough time) it adds so much to the mood and makes your UI look immediately better! :) Just drop em into the Font Folder in your Unity project, plus there's a lot of cool free fonts out there! :) Also, while in the build settings you can easily add the Logo of your "Game studio" to the startup screen if you have one :) For Standalone builds you can add an icon there to be used a thumbnail for the .exe file, both super quick things to do that makes the whole thing seem a little more gamelike :D (idk if you did the thumbnail thing tbh, I used the Webplayer :3)
All in all, a very awesome entry! Keep making games <3 P.S.: If you wanna do something about your smart balance, you can always check out our game if you want ;P

Congrats on doing your first game jam (especially doing Compo)! A simple idea, but very effective and well done. You might want to look into ways to vary the pitch of sound effects, especially ones that are going to get a lot of repetition. Nice job overall!
A simple concept well made. All is clean and working well. The weird thing is that we have to kill so much bees and they are so important in the nature environment... Why the ladybugs need so much attention ? ^^ Anyway. Perhaps you need to give feedback when we kill a LadyBug by mistake (When don't feel it when the game is over). So, even if I don't like to kill bees the idea to manage the numbers of sprites to keep some other safe is interesting. You made a clean finished game, congratulation!
@fatpenguin) :thanks man ,will use your input, i actually thought myslef graphic design for 6 months before this project and that was the result.
thanks everyone :) (@frederika), (@matootsy), (@lazzydev72), (@miranda),
Fun little game, my score: 3360
Nice game! Simple and fun! I found it intuitive and enjoyable especially with the atmosphere from the graphics and sound! A simple highscore, infinite game loop works well and you've executed it well here! I think a good addition would be a bonus of sorts when you swat lots of bees at once. So you have to optimise when you're going to swat (when they're grouped together) against when you really need to in order to keep the bug numbers down. Some more diversity in gameplay would spice it up a bit (a bit more game feel and even new bugs as the game goes on). Also, the audio loop appears to cut a little to obviously rather than loop which is a though for next time (this may have been my end so ingore that point if it does loop properly for you). I liked the way the bees moved, the random nature almost seemed natural, and it was an immersive experience. Overall, great job, and you've clearly put in the work and the result is really good. I like the name of your game, and it really suits the theme. When I say theme here, I mean the Ludum Dare one and how it ties appropriately with the present global situation without going to far. Hence, you've done very well done in this aspect. Great game and well done to you!
Here is my highscore:

(@emperor-eagle), thanks man, apretiate it,that is a good high score :) . im actually turning this LDGame into a real game, probably a free to download game.
@mehrdadsh Nice job! All the best with that! Your game would make a really good mobile game as well as a great desktop game!
(@emperor-eagle) thanks :)
Yeah, pretty nice game. The visual effect on the screen when you approach the limit is a good addition. Though, it does block out the corners of the screen (making it more difficult). It would be nice if the game kept track of the players highscore. An online leaderboard would be great as well. I managed a whoping 8670! Though, most of the time I got around 2000.
