LD46 — Keep it alive

A Day in Granple-Bee's Garden by Togimaro 2020-05-01T23:15:47Z

What a lovely experience! I'd recommend some snapping system to make it easier targetting specific branches, but everything else was wonderful. I love the dynamic growth of the tree so much.

Tiger Zoo by headchant 2020-04-20T15:29:52Z

Fantastic engine builder. Great gameplay design, I'm just not a fan of pixel art on cards - that's a weird personal thing though.

Sellonia by nopogo 2020-04-21T10:12:07Z

Okay. I started the game three times, experimented around with the various... uh... attacks?... and then at some apparently random point in time I get a "Game Over" screen.

I've been the lead community manager for League of Legends, so I should know MOBAs, but... I just don't get it. Sorry. :)

Chaleace Tournament auto-battle by lythom 2020-04-26T14:20:46Z

This is a hilarious take on autochess. I felt the sorcerers were either doing too much damage or didn't have enough life to truly enjoy the spectacle, but super fun and unique idea.

Nightfall Sigil Gray Shield by kuro 2020-05-11T07:51:11Z

Sadly I can't open the links. There's a certificate mismatch and my browser claims both links lead to sneaky, hostile sites. :/

Maybe host it somewhere like itch.io?

Amaze-on Game by Abregado 2020-04-28T14:50:22Z

The idea is interesting, but what makes games like Cook, Serve, Delicious or Typewriter From Hell stand out is the charm - and that seems to be lacking. Playing felt like an unrewarding chore instead of playing a game.

IT tycoon by shide 2020-05-05T07:28:52Z

Very impressive for this short time frame. Even the art looks pretty good!

A Friend by Echonia 2020-04-21T05:14:36Z

Those sounds! Very cute little game. Would make a lovely mini-game with a little bit more content.

Pizza with a Pulse by slimabob 2020-04-20T19:06:53Z

Oh man is this impressive. Very well done, it's hilarious and exhilarating and I so badly want to play this in VR.

A Cold Walk Home by Stefanie Leitch 2020-04-20T23:53:40Z

I also got the A Dark Room vibes. A super enthralling experience.

Tyson Lee: KEEP IT ALIVE EDITION by CPTN-B 2020-04-30T17:00:02Z

The first four levels were easy, the fifth impossible.

Some feedback when the required output was successful would have been nice. :)

Mutiny by Cataractar 2020-04-30T08:08:02Z

Shame about the lack of shanties! I like me some pirates though, yaaaargh.

I like how it plays, though I had some issues getting the pirates to sometimes click on the middle sail.

LD46: The Lighthouse at the End of the Universe by LMB 2020-05-05T08:28:10Z

Hardly playable with keyboard, sadly. It's very difficult to target the smoothly moving enemies. I like the background musics a lot, and the pew pew pew sounds are making me so nostalgic.

I'm not a fan of the airplane design of the enemy ships though. That, of all things, felt so wrong.

Your Pet Alien by AdonisDevs 2020-04-30T09:09:21Z

18 hours.

I couldn't figure out where Mom was apart from checking the other rooms.

Pizza is always good, I am now hungry for Pizza.

Lich Clicker by Fictions 2020-04-20T14:56:53Z

@filecorrupteddev @ytaha The hunger will actually change some voice overs.

It's subtle, but there's quite a bit to explore here. Thanks for the great comments!

Lich Clicker by Fictions 2020-04-22T13:14:02Z

@fabula-rasa We're sorry you don't like the gameplay, and you'll probably hate hearing there's five very different stories there. ;)

Lich Clicker by Fictions 2020-04-30T22:43:47Z

@danilo-freire There's a button to the bottom right - you might need to scroll a bit. That switches this to full screen, and it works there. Sorry for the hassle!

The Call of the Unicore by sndr 2020-04-27T07:35:22Z

Great art, I wish there'd be a better indication of where the next wave is spawning from though - or maybe there is but I couldn't find it.

Exolvuntur by PxGluz 2020-04-20T22:06:23Z

I'm not a fan of the pixel art, but the main character looks properly scared and moves very nicely.

I would have loved to continue exploring the game and finding more notes - the story sounds interesting -, but after the third attempt of trying to get past the ghost (the third monster), I gave up.

Keep It Alight by Lamasaurus 2020-04-20T10:33:00Z

I absolutely adore the audio. The disappointed sighs on death, the crackling of the fire, all of this is really well done. Thanks for the game!

Lamps by qkjosh 2020-04-26T13:36:00Z

Fantastic atmosphere! As a dog owner with cats who keep knocking lights over, I felt right at home with this. Including the ghosts in the basement.

TIME TO BREATHE by Dmitry Kaidash 2020-04-21T06:55:34Z

Lovely graphic. The movement looks fluid and amazing, and I like the concept.

Unfortunately, shooting doesn't work. Clicking the left mouse button does nothing, though planting bushes and running allowed me to score some brief points.

Coronary Flypass by squirmonkey 2020-04-20T13:55:14Z

Hilarious emergent gameplay. I love the wacky heart physics, and trying to fling it across the level is the most fun - or attempting to catch it again after being pigeoned.

Blood On The Snow by Wolfrug 2020-05-08T20:44:04Z

Very ambitious, but I couldn't get to grips with the combat system. The range of most cards wasn't very clear.

Love the writing though, really well done and a very impressive scope.

The Dragon's Curse by Aditya Kumar 2020-04-21T16:09:28Z

Five attempts and not even gotten close to winning. It's a bit too random for my taste.

Covid Runner by Cipery 2020-05-11T08:02:47Z

It's a shame the rather nice music isn't looping. At around 1km in, there was a stretch when when the random generator seemed to fail and all I got was a lot of virusses you can defeat by holding enter.

The gun would sometimes target the next virus, not the one in front of you.

Really nice artwork, though. Quite a decent endless runner. I appreciated the barriers shifting position.

Nature of Fear by Omickron 2020-04-30T14:35:17Z

Nice art. The bossfight was okay. What followed after was not.

First of all, the dark grey scale made spotting any potential items impossible. Then the text was not helping, overshadowing two items hidden behind the floating letters. And then not even letting me finish the boss? Sad.

Promising start, boring finish.

platformEGG by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-04-21T12:10:45Z

Music and art style gives me a very "Thing on a Spring"-feeling, and I'm loving it.

It's too hard for me, and I had to give up at level 4, but I still enjoyed the attempts.

Constance by Oakwarrior 2020-04-25T20:37:44Z

I love the theme and dialogue. Audio is nicely done, and I know how hard it is to get all the audio recorded and polished in such a short time. :) Well done!

Big Turnip by Pierre CILLUFFO 2020-04-28T14:52:17Z

Super cute art design. Thanks for that!

Primed by gimblll 2020-04-20T12:33:40Z

I absolutely love the twist on the theme. Well played, really well played.

Here's a thing though: We Germans don't use QWERTY, we have QWERTZ, and I don't even know how a Frenchman would play this game without breaking all of his fingers at once.

Remember, Apollo by AdamCYounis 2020-04-21T14:17:12Z

Great writing, the background art is absolutely gorgeous.

Catch the Worm by Sprotex 2020-04-30T14:26:03Z

Very stylish. It crashed after a few minutes for me, but otherwise I really enjoyed the zen-like approach of floating through the air and landing next to worms to pick them up.

Very nice, great job in the short time frame

Hype Town - Keep the Party Alive! by BradleyAshley 2020-05-11T07:56:12Z

Lovely idea, I appreciate the different tunes. Wish the final one could have been the Metal party, though, and it would have been nice to time the music to the countdown instead of having it break in the middle.

cyberpunk_200s.sys by Epicload 2020-04-21T07:52:37Z

Solid entry. Great choice of background music, it sold the theme very well.

I feel the towers are degrading too fast, I couldn't find a proper groove and rythm to the placing. Having to move to towers to place them felt a bit arbitrary, not really adding to the game.

The Last Guardian by civmaniac 2020-05-05T07:39:18Z

The game runs very well. Cute animations! The rain clouds moved a bit too slow for me and I keep failing to keep the tree alive, but as the resident Lich King, I am okay with this.

Cthulhu: The Cult Must Not Die by LaserPanzerWal 2020-04-30T09:00:41Z

The HTML5 build doesn't run at all on my computer, but the rest was fine. Absolutely impressive graphics and audio, very Diablo (the original one).

Satisfy'n: Keep the Love Alive by BlackOpsBen 2020-04-20T16:48:54Z

Incredibly charming.

Also, I have been through Hell, is that the second secret?

I now hunger for chicken instead of souls, so that's really well done.

Save the FOX! by Euforia Games 2020-05-04T14:29:37Z

I like the graphics. The controls are very much not mine. Camera occasionally moves out of focus, the ninja can jump easily outside the frames, branches are sometimes solid and sometimes not.

The audio is nice if repetitive, the tutorial remains an empty screen for me.

Keep Yourself Alive by Ege686 2020-04-20T09:52:35Z

Love the weirdness of the theme, but needs more audio and better spawn algorithm for the zombies. Would love to have a way of reloading the weapon (and maybe there is, but I haven't found it yet.)

Light of hope by retrome 2020-04-20T13:50:29Z

I don't understand what the number over the humans is. Are they growing? Are they dying? What is going on here?

Responsibility by Szkocka 2020-04-24T22:16:31Z

Super clever Take on the theme. It's a bit too surreal for me, bug it's an impressive big of work, especially given that you haven't done this stuff before.

Temple of Enlightenment by prepparedheathen 2020-04-25T17:50:11Z

I love the take on the theme, but I really dislike how moving the character feels. The jump animation is too slow and either too high or not high enough, pushing the stones feels too slow, the physics feel slightly off.

I appreciate the effort though, and I really like the idea.

Bumbling Bob's Grand Adventure by CrimsonShadow256 2020-05-11T00:07:49Z

The block physics was too wacky for something the second part of the expert level for me. I couldn't get it done, Bob was going places, the blocks went different ones.

Great physics puzzler with too wacky physics for me.

Flower Defense by Evolving 2020-04-20T14:22:31Z

I was brought back to C64 times. Good old C64 times. Your art captures that feeling perfectly, and it took me several minutes of realizing I was playing via mouse, and not a joystick.

100% pure nostalgia, I love it.

Frankie Stein Keeps It Alive by AnaHandley 2020-04-21T09:33:58Z

Gods I love the sound effects. So good, so funny.

Lovely art, too.

You would have benefited from a soft background soundscape - maybe some looped humming to keep in the spirit of everything else?

Keep Reputation Alive by Chief141 2020-04-26T14:18:45Z

It's a shame about the puzzle design - too easy.

I love the concept though, and that you've done the whole thing in Python. Very well done!

Rogue Janitor by stolen_biscuit 2020-04-20T12:43:39Z

Really cool art style. Space Janitor meets Wizardry? I actually love the old-school dungeon crawling aspect.

Social Distancing For LadyBugs by mehrdadsh 2020-04-21T07:14:08Z

A simple idea, but well executed. The wasps' swarm mechanics look really cool.

Dog Feeder by plantleaf 2020-04-21T08:35:17Z

I absolutely hate the audio and that it keeps restarting instead of just looping, but the gameplay is brilliant if harsh. Would be great to have a key to release the balls and give us a bit more time to figure out the controls for each level.

Great puzzles!

Atera Odyssey by Worgaros 2020-05-10T23:51:25Z

The mechanic kept dying at around part 4. I tried three times and can't figure out how to beat the game. A shame, I had some fun playing it.

Keep it up, Aline. by Aoni 2020-04-28T15:06:20Z

Hmm, can you provide some instructions or a playthrough? I like the idea, but I seem to be unable to play without seemingly randomly dying at some point.

A Gleam In The Dark by Haro Games 2020-04-20T13:40:38Z

The art is lovely, the sound is quite good. I'd love health points or a similar system (like you only die if you are twice consecutively, for example).

Thin Ice by Polyzox 2020-05-11T00:15:29Z

I kept catching fish, I think, but the town kept starving nevertheless.

Is that the purpose of the game? Try to catch enough fish as the polar bear so the town will starve?

Don't Let it Pop! by gstein 2020-04-20T23:41:47Z

It's a great first start. Fits the theme very well. If you could scale the difficulty somewhat, you'd have a very enjoyable mini-game.

Crackles by Mumb0 2020-04-20T12:22:05Z

There is something deeply satisfying about burning things down. I love the art effects of the burning trees. You make me question my morality, well done.

Now excuse me, need to burn more things.

SaverTato by LebbyFoxx 2020-04-25T20:19:25Z

Small scope but solid clicker. Some progress would be nice, adding more enemies or a variety to them over time.

SAVE THE DINOS! by marcusnystrand 2020-04-28T12:00:45Z

A simple game made a lot more interesting by mating dinosaurs. Very cute, great idea!

Keep it alive: A love story by DimiTree 2020-05-04T10:29:15Z

Super cute animations, good sound, great concept. I am not a fan of the "find the right button randomly"-approach to some of the puzzles, but that's a personal preference.

Goat Sacrifice by Frankie Hobbins 2020-04-21T07:00:29Z

Fantastic setting, painful sound. Also plays very sluggish and thus made it impossible for me to play for more than two seconds before being eaten.

I love the over-the-top blood splatter effect though.

Keep Fe Chicken by ARBEX 2020-04-21T08:31:49Z

Love the chicken sound. As a puzzle game it's a bit too simplistic for my taste, and the physics of when a chicken moves in which directions at what timed rotation is a bit unclear, but overall a great submission!
