LD45 — Start with nothing

Stranded by kleinzach 2019-10-13T01:54:10Z

The environment shifts were lovely and the gameplay was upfront and simple. You kept the theme in sight and managed assets just right! It would be better to skip any fetch and grabs up front and get the player creating things right away, but I see this doing very well.

An excellent use of the theme! I created a drawing game myself and really appreciate your use of setting and controls to immerse the player. A larger drawing area might be nice, but this was very therapeutic.

Blossoming Cosmos by ryusui 2019-10-13T07:17:07Z

What a relaxing game! I think you should let the player create more flowers more quickly! I tensed up the first time the flowers were about to be hit but the way they just lightly agitate and wiggle is actually nice. I like that you followed the theme so well too.

Necros by TwinGhosts 2019-10-13T18:48:11Z

This is a great submission that certainly keeps you playing! The discovery of skeleton archers was exciting. I also loved when I would clear a section of town with one mob and be joined by an even greater mob that grew itself fighting nearby. It makes you feel that something is really kicking off.

The carefully placed crowds cause you to properly infiltrate the people before unleashing your wrath if you really want a big mob to start with. This creates a great atmosphere as you stroll into town hooded and cloaked watching the children run happily in the road, thinking "if only they knew". I rate this game ARMAGEDDON/10

You may want to give the player a super short tutorial and introduce them to a few mob types upfront to encourage them to clear levels and progress. There is depth here!

Slap the King by quin 2019-10-13T07:25:37Z

There was much heart put into this! Delightful dialogue and a pleasant world that really makes you want to explore with each interaction. Each NPC was fun to talk to but a jerk character or bad guy upfront might be good to suck the player in for some conflict.

Entertain Your Damn Self by RedHermit 2019-10-13T17:09:54Z

It is exactly what you said! But when the viewport started expanding on it's own it did blow my mind, that was very innovative. I like the creativity possible here and who doesn't like a good physics sandbox? Watching the orbs dance as you pluck them away and add new ones is very satisfying.

Inspiration. by F1Krazy 2019-10-13T17:24:33Z

Hey I saw your announcement post! It's really cool to see you went from a console to this, this was a surprisingly full and interactive world. I was happy to find someone by a pond, really thought she would be a classic fisherman and ended up being the funniest NPC. I think a little more handholding might be necessary to motivate the player but the experience bar grows appropriately to encourage you down the right path. This is a streamlined modern take in a retro platform and I like it!

Nepton by Juutis 2019-10-12T19:33:43Z

The pacing is great, by world three the necessity for strategy is clear, each stage after the depth of the game increases and you instruct the player perfectly along every step. Audio is pleasant, graphics are just right with it's pikmenesque feel. A great submission!

the universe, i think by TheInkSkeleton 2019-10-13T17:42:52Z

You were on the right track! I give a 5.0 on theme since it's a true start-with-nothing game.

Rail shooter prototype by Chocolat-Endive 2019-10-12T19:58:24Z

It may have been a bit too easy but it was playable and fun! Cool graphics and a great Godot 3d entry, well done.

Nude In The Forest by Sarah_lkv 2019-10-13T19:43:12Z

Thanks for reviewing my game.

Blank Slate by PixelMeal 2019-10-13T17:37:00Z

The philosophy fits the theme and it's a very immersive environment! For an FPS player the movement speed makes you take a deep breath, I think at that speed click to move might work just as well but I understand if you don't want to be a Myst-like. The thought behind puzzles and effort put into assets and environment really shows.

My Stuff is in There! by Madbarron 2019-10-13T01:46:57Z

Dialogue was fun, very Fallout 1&2 with lots of potential! The game could use more action upfront but it was engrossing enough to keep me playing!

Soul Reap by FlyWolfe 2019-10-13T06:50:30Z

The first encounter with a great soul and the chaos that ensues was a real thrill. I would like to be made to work a little more before upgrading though I appreciated being able to corrupt worlds and upgrade right away to test out the abilities you made. SOULS: REAPED

Give me something! by JoaoG 2019-10-13T07:10:06Z

I kept starving at first trying to save up for that sweet geetar. I like the resource management aspect and starting out naked is funny. More environments would be cool and items of course but this is the second game I've played today about homelessness and it really made me think! Turning $20 into a living.

Not Even A Jump Yet by Nikita Demidov 2019-10-13T18:34:29Z

I wasn't paying attention and downloaded the .app first, you might want to swap it for smoothbrains like me. The level design works with the limited controls very well! Graphics were as charming as they can be for something that simple and that's what counts.

POLYMON by PIXAMENTORY 2019-10-13T19:25:29Z

I tried to evolve my polygon but this is a tough one. Getting momentum and flips across the ground is fun.

Life Starts With Nothing by NoobDev 2019-10-12T19:46:54Z

I can figure this debt out! Bring it on! I just started deliberately running into enemies by the end.

My Friend N by rroni 2019-10-13T19:14:46Z

I double checked the controls and was excited to get the switch activated so I could check out that hallway. Walking the cavern path out was fun and I liked the teasing from the companion. The first time the companion leaves you you actually feel concerned for it since it's been with you from the beginning, crossed the cavern with you and has been keeping you company. Some onscreen control prompts will go a long way so I do suggest that if you keep developing this! This is a great start to an adventure game.

Clothes On My Back, Things In The Sack by MaxyMax 2019-10-12T19:41:43Z

This would have been a great mode in the original GTA games, giving the slip to officers by going through the thin alleyway was satisfying everytime. The ringing cellphone was annoying whenever you nab one but I know that was intentional, I got rid of all my hot items ASAP and did pretty good. Good game!

My Hope by fiwon123 2019-10-13T02:08:35Z

For a web build it runs great but making the character less floaty would go a long way I think. The character, atmosphere, great artwork and music changes suck you in. The breaking of the staff really gets you amped up, but then it feels a bit too much like another platformer. Use this character and take the game further!

Monolith by Kalucifer 2019-10-13T01:18:53Z

Smooth controls and a world worth exploring! It ran good for me but I saw some other comments that had me prepared for a bug, I would just suggest to update your information to let people know it's been fixed. Good submission!

Allow by Mikeality 2019-10-13T17:05:43Z

The beginning made me think about the nature of inspiration. I like the stars as quest objects that you can pick up and drop but I don't think I was clever enough to get out of the pit others have mentioned, I tried tossing the star and jumping on it, going without it and jumping over the gap holding the star for speed. The seamless tutorial was very well done and the character is nice to watch in action being just a pair of pupils! It's cute.

Sweet Nothing by Kellmen 2019-10-12T19:52:49Z

This was a great concept executed very well, the growing stage, the true puzzle aspect with freeform solutions. It was engaging and rewarding to play! Top ratings.

Keep Me Burning by NavrcL 2019-10-13T06:42:23Z

Well placed checkpoints, the level design is very tight and well thought out. The character design and animation is aces. GREAT controls even in the webplayer. My only suggestion would be the ability to leave torches as a default ability, though I know that kind of defeats the purpose of the theme.

Glorbo's Kingdom by DrewGodden 2019-10-12T19:11:31Z

More challenging than I thought it would be once I had to manage the villagers! They are very curious and like to wander. Good gameplay and theme, sound, graphics were enjoyable.

Trail Jam: it go well oreGONE wrong by Hunt 2019-10-13T06:32:11Z

I just spent like crazy and did all the most reckless things. The atmosphere and dialogue was charming but the pacing could use work also balancing the economy tough! Thanks for playing my game too :)
