pretty cool surreal experience, like the player character graphics!
Great game! I could play it for a while. Definitely a game that I could see being polished and made into a fully fleshed out title. Great Job!
Good work. I liked the characters and the mood.
Shots rebounce, increasing range could be a cool upgrade in the future too =]
In overall a good submission. Loved the music, though i missed sounds. The art style was abit mixed. Outside the cave handpainted, while in the cave it seemd a bit like developer arts. Also different styles on charcter and monsters, could be more coherent. Also another really small thing. Shots were not exactly in direction of my mouse, they were a bit off, tahs was abit confusing. But these are just small things, after all well done.
Well done, level design could use some work but overall was a good experience!
Game play was solid, not sure what W or S did for controls. Enjoyed shooting the staves to stop the monsters. The background music was a little over powering of the sound fx. If you balanced them out a little better it would be great! Hopefully you guys continue to grow this game and see where it goes! Great work!
I thought the game was reasonably functional. The character design was interesting but the contrast between the polished character sprite and the backgrounds really made them feel unfinished. I would have liked to see a bit more care taken in the combat feedback and maybe have the camera pulled back a bit further. Beyond the initial introduction to the mechanics, i would have liked to have seen some development / increase in complexity. Overall, i would advise you to aim for a slightly less demanding game (production wise) for deeper gameplay.
Nice little game. The music is very fitting to the game and sounds great. The gameplay itself is also good, but I have a few minor complaints:
1. I think the bullet particles should stay on screen for a little bit longer and should be a little bit slower. Because right now it feels weird when they disappear almost immediately, and you can't help but think that something is bugged, or you are doing something wrong.
2. You should do some sort of indication when enemies spawn or prevent them from spawning on top of the player or too close to him.
Other than that, it was a nicely done game. Good job.
Nice game! Sound and music are awesome! I like art of the enemies. But I didn't quite understand how does it fit the theme? You don't start with nothing, you start with three lives...
The game seemed to have a good artist and sound designer on it. It was hard for me to enjoy that stuff though as it seemed to lag in my browser. Not sure if that was just me. The audio came through very choppy, so I couldn't properly enjoy it! :o
The gameplay felt a tad generic action game-y and a bit uninspired. Would have liked to have seen the light used in a more unique way. I initially expected it to be a thing I moved around to illuminate areas and was disappointed to find this was not the case. The powerup icons did not match my expectations for what I was getting, specifically, with the double sword power-up. The icon should have been a light bream extending or something like that.
The character and enemy design was nice, though I agree with Adam that you should have focused on slightly less production quality and more on deeper gameplay. Something to look forward to for the next game jam!
Thanks for feedbacks people. I will improve this game fixing some related bugs :).
Solid Entry! Awesome Music there. The idea is really nice. A functional game but gameplay is very repetitive and gets boring really fast. There are some weird bugs as mentioned by others already.
I like the main character. Interesting weapon mechanic. Would love to see where you take the game further.
Music was nice, some level art and some more care for level design would improve the experience a lot too many dead ends with no point. Jumping was a bit floaty but functional. Otherwise good game!.
Played this on stream as you saw. Cool game! Nice one.
Hey here's the video of your game from my stream if you wanted it-- thanks for stopping by.

I really love the art of your game. It feels a little bit unfinished, but overall pretty good.
Like the main character design, and the monsters look like they're on their way to get a nice design too. Enemies spawning over player was the reason I couldn't finish the game. What role does the light play? It would be interesting if you could elaborate on that in the game :)
Pretty cool art style. Obviously the actual level graphics were quite bland (especially compared to the tutorial). But the character and monsters looked nice. So just some more level decorations and particle effects and it would look and feel top notch. Music was well done and very fitting. Somehow it managed to applease both sides of gameplay, combat and more lulling exploratory searching for more mobs to kill. Obviously it would have needed more sound effects and some variation in them as well.
And then to the controls. Jumping felt a bit weird. It was nice that you tried to implement a variable height jump but it didn't quite work perfectly. It felt a bit too immediate, so to say, that he upwards motion stopped right when you release the jump button. And I'm not a big fan jumping mechanic that keeps jumping as long as you hold the jump button. Especially when trying to jump to a high platform, you needed to hold the button to reach the highest apex but then immediately jumped again from the corner of the platform you were trying to land to. And speaking of jumping, this was a ridiculously hard jump to make...

Shooting had its issues too. It was kinda awkward that it didn't really aim where the mouse cursor was. Mouse just moved the crystal/light up and down and shooting was the vector between it and the character. It resulted in pretty much having to stare at the light when trying to shoot at mobs. The shooting range felt a bit short too. You had to get very close to your target and quite ofter that staffs just spawn enemies right at your location when you're trying to destroy them. Some kind of warning effect at a spot where mob is about to spawn would be nice. Well, the enemies were very unthreatening anyway. The only times I took damage were either when they spawned at me or when I had to do a blind drop and a mob was under me waiting.
The final level felt a bit maze-like and the searching for last staff aspect didn't feel very engaging either. If the levels were any bigger, it would definitely need some kind of arrow pointing to the remaining staff when there is only one left. Then the level could be bigger and more mazey. This red herring on the last level wasted so much of my time...

But finally I did manage to find the last one!

The upgrading mechanic felt kinda pointless. As I already mentioned, the life was no problem since the enemies didn't pose a threat at all. I poured all my points to damage and it didn't fell much stronger. Dunno about the attack speed then (if that's what it even was). Seems kinda counter productive in such a simple combat. Both just mean more damage. It would need stuff like crits to separate them more and even that would need lots of balancing.
Anyways, I think I've rambled enough. Congrats and good job!
Oh, thanks for feedbacks. certainly have to much bugs. I'm fixing priority bugs like light shoot direction and crash screen. When the ludum dare voting finished, I will improve the project considering your feedbacks :).
For a web build it runs great but making the character less floaty would go a long way I think. The character, atmosphere, great artwork and music changes suck you in. The breaking of the staff really gets you amped up, but then it feels a bit too much like another platformer. Use this character and take the game further!
@bradleyashley ok, thanks. I really enjoy to develop this game :). Yes I'm fixing some bugs in game at moment. After the voting I'll improve some features.
edit: I fixed problem in light shoot.
Oh wow this was really great! Thanks for sharing :)
"Impressive game, Very cool concepts. I left wishing that there is more. Had a lot of fun "
Such dramatic music! Also it is pretty hard. I love ideas of upgrade before level and monster spawn by staffs.
Fun little game. If you develop this further I would like to see the platforms and background to be not plain, as the games art style is nice but it feels lacking in that department. Great job!
@roka-josh Thanks :). I will
Really funny :) the style is cool
I didn't feel this game as a solid overall experience. Music, FX, character and level felt a bit different with each other. Also would be great to see the level green with background, grass and trees, to have more marks to find a way.
Very nice art and music. The game was a bit easy, but I didn't have a problem with that; it usually seems like a lot of LD games are very difficult. Overall, the game worked very well. Thanks for sharing it with us on stream!
Character, enemies and staff was all draw great, just feel that the background and level couldn've matched them to keep the art consistant. Easy to play so very accessable to others, didn't overwhelm me. Maybe tell the player that holding space bar makes them jump higher, goa little stuck until seeing the comment from @antti-haavikko
Great game nonetheless!
Thanks, very much @humphreysmedia.
Thanks for submitting your game for me to play on my livestream! I played it today in the last few hours of voting :)
