had a similar idea when I started but scrapped it becuase it looked to big to finish, yet you managed to finish the game and make it fun to play, great job!
Can see a trend of games about the homeless. Interesting idea
I'm just getting a black screen after the "Something, something, something, *nothing*" bit (I'm on Windows 7)
Everything is clear, good UI solutions. Nice voice and funny emotions. Lacks the opportunity to steal from the police for extra points)
It's really funny! I didn't understand at first why the levels started the way they did, but then, it dawned on me that not everyone has something for you to steal. I love the voice clips, especially the "ugh"s when you try to pickpocket someone who doesn't have anything!!
Also there's a bug where everyone's sprites turn into cops! That's terrifying.
@catusfelony actually that's the debuff for the Pill Bottle item: When you've got stolen drugs, everyone starts to look like a cop... :no_good:
Fun concept, very challenging gameplay though! I wish the character had a bit less inertia when you stop moving, but I'm glad that the game doesn't send you back to the first level if you get caught in a later level. Enjoyed the audio as well. Congrats on the submission!
Good job. Very challenging gameplay and good audio. On the whole not bad.
Nice little game. I just wish there was a little more to it.
I was wondering why sometimes the civilians turned into cops... it wasn't really clear what I was stealing from people. I noticed that sometimes they had a little logo that showed they had items, other times my dude just went Uhm, and the counter went up. Also, movement felt a little "slidey"... as if I were on thin ice (which, in a sense, I guess I was).
Also, first try I was supposed to get four items, but got caught at three. Then, when I replayed it only asked for two? Did that twice and the game took me back to the main menu.
Do like the concept, though, and I think with a little work you could have a nice game on your hands.
this is freaking hilarious! I love the voice over and i was literally thinking of making the same gmae at one point. except mine took ap retty dark turn lol. great work
Simple, fun, humorous, and challenging. Great job; one of my favorites of the jam.
Very challenging! I love the idea and the framework. The "Something - something - nothing" animation at the beginning got a little bit tiring after playing it multiple times.
Interesting idea, I like the charging thing when I try to steal "something". Art style could be improved a little but it's a jam after all, right? :) Good job in finishing it on time!
Cool concept, it needs some work and polish but the main game play is fun, reminded me of a stealth game i played way back, cant remember the name.... Not too sure how you delegate how many objects you are supposed to steal, i thought you where being nice to me at first as i was spending waay to long getting passed the first level(i had some issues with the controls) but after a couple of runs suddenly i was just required to steal 2 objects! i was filled with joy haha... but then on the second level, it began with 3, but then it went up to 4 and i was not able to complete...
Some bugs to be noted where, the civilians change sprite into guards during the 2'nd level, i have no idea what caused it, felt random... when you walk diagonally your speed is not the same as when you are moving pure up/sown, i have had the same issue myself when making Top-Down games, you just have to divide it by... i cant remember right now........ sorry haha
But by using this movement technique i was finally able to outrun the cops! haha
It's actually so hard! Good though! I enjoyed it, well put together. The cackle of escaping the police made me laugh...in a fashion not too unlike the cackle actually. But yeah nice game guys, great minds think alike as they say haha.
This is an interesting game, although I found it a bit unforgiving---you get "caught" even prior to stealing if the guards see you at all: whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? :) I really liked the pick-pocketing mechanic, and it was well done, particularly because it wasn't instantaneous. Audio was excellent as well. Nice job!
Good game but controls are a little hard at the start, good job !
Fun game. Very challenging but good approach and fun idea. Great job.
This would have been a great mode in the original GTA games, giving the slip to officers by going through the thin alleyway was satisfying everytime. The ringing cellphone was annoying whenever you nab one but I know that was intentional, I got rid of all my hot items ASAP and did pretty good. Good game!
I like how you made a "full game", with music, sounds (even voices, yay!), graphics, a cover, etc... The mechanics are interesting, it's like in some games like assassin's creed, when you steal money to people in the streets. The "something/nothing" intro is interesting, but pretty boring when dying a lot of times. I had trouble because of the QWERTY layout of the keyboard. Mine is AZERTY, so I couldn't play in a comfy way :( I think you should allow to play with the arrows too. Thank you for your game, and keep jamming guys :)
"Something, something, nothinnnnng" first of all very cool voice acting and I like the music a lot. Cool concept for the theme, I used the same Hobo idea but we got quite different approaches. it was quite fun and challenging to play and I disagree with the first commenter about the police count, it's necessary for the challenge. at some point while I was running away from the cop, because of the level design I guess, felt like I'm playing a pac man. All in all Good job and I think you should consider develop this further
I really like the core mechanic and level design is pretty well. I just want more atmosphere to steal something and hide in the dark behind a dumpster ))))))
I really liked the idea! The music was great but the voice over needs some variety. It got a bit annoying after a while. Also, like what someone else said in the comments, the game can be more atmospheric indeed. I hope that you continue with the development of the game since it's very interesting and fresh,
Very funny voice acting and perfect mood music for this type of game. I am terrible at this game as I get too impatient, but that's only my fault. Good work!
Audio was pretty great for this one! I liked the voice acting, especially when almost getting caught by the policemen. It was a little difficult if only because there were a lot of cops and even when I didn't steal anything the cop would still "catch" me. It was still really cool! Good job.
Def loved the "I escaped the cops" chuckle. Fun game. :)
To be honest, my wife would not have approved, and the dress code would not have been acceptable at work. As a result, the only way to get to the resort is to take a taxi. I can assure you that while we were looking for a nice clothes store, we had to conduct extensive research into evaluations and opinions in order to avoid wasting time seeking for good things that did not exist. For example, reading bras was quite helpful in determining which store to visit. As a result, you should also read, research reviews, and go shopping.
cool
I can tell you where you can now without any difficulties and problems to buy high-quality and inexpensive clothes from many well-known brands. I can tell you where you can buy clothes, you need to look here Desiner brands https://inlower.com suitable options. I myself have bought here without any problems and get exactly the quality I wanted. Because I hope that you and I have been able to help with this and it was useful. Good luck.
