Soundtrack's awesome, love the 80s aesthetic. Think there's a bug in the gameplay though, one time my selection definitely fitted the description and the game told me it was the wrong one.
That first cactus was super hard...
Jokes aside, I LOVED this! The best game I've played today. The art style was fantastic, and the music was just incredible, especially while talking to M. Got super difficult out of nowhere which was a (pleasant??) surprise. Loved/hated the ending if you know what I mean. I also genuinely laughed at some of the humorous bits in the game. Also was really invested in the story, the opening really drew me in. I will admit I did find the controls a bit confusing, maybe use of the mouse buttons for using items would've made it easier, but other than that great job!
Artwork's amazing! Song's great too. The work part made me laugh and cry at the same time.
Reminds me of Captain Claw, one of my favorite games as a kid :)
Our games are so similar! Great minds eh? ;)Bounty Hunted Cover Photo.png
Dude let's make a crossover game! Haha seriously though, really impressed with your artwork. And about the theme, what can I say, great minds think alike eh? ;)
Great great use of the theme here, it's a mechanic of the gameplay AND central to the story. The game really makes a statement, proof that games should be considered art!
Great concept. Loved the music as well, really fitted the game!
It's pretty fun! I like the use of the theme. One thing about the spikes; sometimes I'm dying from colliding with them when I'm absolutely sure I didn't hit them. Level designs are great though.
Got the victory by buying out their entire team...diplomacy rules!
Seriously though guys what a game, I was getting emotionally invested trying to keep the weakest guy on my team from dying hahaha
All it needs now is a killer soundtrack and some new skins for the dudes.
Thanks for all the awesome comments and feedback guys! My jaw is sore from smiling so much!
@kodiqi Thanks for playing and watching! Solid feedback, I think the reload timer's a great idea. Maybe the best gun could be a six shooter that you can fire rapidly for six shots before reloading or something. Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks again for all the precious comments and feedback guys! Will add more and more to the game over the coming days/weeks :)
2.5D was really cool. Liked the music a lot also! I thought I would be able to just spam the attacking but eventually I saw the need to block haha
I liked the controls a lot, very different! It's very hard but I don't really mind that, as long as it's humanly possible to get to 500 haha! Minimalist design was nice, didn't really feel too much of a need for a soundtrack, although maybe a droning synth would've been cool or something. Could imagine a retro arcade style being a good look for the visual style. Great compo entry! :)
Really cool concept in this! It was awesome carefully building up my army and trying to keep my casualties to a minimum. Best part was trying to defeat the knights, knowing they would be joining my ranks immediately after! The only major two bugs I found were my minions kept bouncing off each other and flying through the air and sometimes they would just get stuck in the ground which meant my army size was reduced after all the hard work building it up! I felt maybe the game could have had a faster pace maybe? Felt a tiny bit tedious losing and then having to move slowly through the whole game again. But really great job! Highly rated :)
These guys are really well hung for guys freezing to death... 10/10
Seriously though, probably the best Compo game I've played of this Ludum Dare so far. Nice job!
My story playing Small Mouse, Big Shoes:
When I first saw the game page I screamed at the top of my lungs "this is just goat simulator with a sheep in it, why is everything going wrong in my life". After smashing my desktop monitor and vowing to write a letter to the copyright police, I purchased a new monitor in town. Having got home and set up my monitor, I proceeded to write my letter. As I was about to hit send suddenly a voice inside me said "NO. What if this game has something to say?" I hesitated. I slowly opened my browser and had a second look. I pressed on the link. I hit "Run Game". What followed was the greatest emotional roller-coaster of my life, or (dare I say) ANY life? I immediately got sucked in via the slick and responsive controls. And graphics? OF COURSE they were amazing. But I wasn't looking for either of those... I was looking for a story. And boy did I get it. I came across a man named Carl. I broke down in tears as he told me his life story. I had suffered the same at many points in my life. Next I met a lovely bunch of lads dancing to Cher. After dancing with them for 6 hours I decided to go for a walk and clear my head. I proceeded to talk to myself about what colour I would finally choose as my favourite. Indigo. It was then I was transported to one of the scariest places of my life or (dare I say again) ANY life? But gasp not! I got through it. I don't want to give anything away but, let's just say goat's don't like to be petted on the head... After reaching enlightenment and becoming human, I decided to use my new found skills to explore the new world I found myself in. I discovered it had a plethora of characters with emotional backgrounds and even more emotional situations. I helped them all and in a way...they helped me. As it took me to the next stage. The final battle. This. Was. It. Everything on the line. An age-old rivalry between man and rabbit being settled once and for all. And was it settled? Well let's just say rabbits ain't as fast as tortoises...or humans in this case. I won is what I'm saying. So the question is, do I recommend this game? I do. But it comes with a warning. If you play this game, nothing will ever come close to the pleasure you felt playing it. It's downhill from here. But if you don't, you'll be missing out on the greatest experience of your life or (dare I say) ANY...?
Nice work, I like the artwork a lot, it had its own kind of style and fit the creepy/charming vibe nicely. Music was great too. Interesting seeing the comments about Twin Peaks. Someone mentioned my game's music has a similar vibe haha
The artwork and style was top notch, I would have liked a relaxing soundtrack and cool sfx over it! It was pretty fun setting myself a personal challenge and trying to come up with a story to help me match as many images as I could. Just one thing; I wasn't frustrated as much from clicking the wrong item (which is just part of the game I guess) as not being able to try the same story again if I did get it wrong. But maybe that's just part of the challenge! Either way, nice job.
Atmosphere and music were great! The 3D models and the textures fit well together. I also liked the camera mechanic of looking ahead of your surroundings. However I did experience some bugs sticking to walls. Also some particle effects would be handy to show when damage is being taken/applied. Good job though!
Very impressed with this guys, stellar job! Everyone involved with the project seemed to execute their individual jobs perfectly, so nice work! I can see this doing very well in the Jam. I rated highly across the board
Thanks for playing and the good feedback guys!
Great first time compo entry! To make 12 levels for the compo is a crazy achievement haha! Really liked the mechanics of the game, very clever. Sfx were great as well. I found some earlier levels harder than later ones but maybe that's just me.
Loved the soundtrack, made it feel epic trying to manage everything. I liked going back and forth between different areas to check them, reminded me of Five Nights at Freddy's. Really well polished game.
Really relaxing to play. Minimalist design was nice, pixel art looked lovely as well. There was one bug I experienced at one stage with multiple UI elements going over each other but other than that it ran smoothly :)
It's actually so hard! Good though! I enjoyed it, well put together. The cackle of escaping the police made me laugh...in a fashion not too unlike the cackle actually. But yeah nice game guys, great minds think alike as they say haha.
Great work with the music, also the humour was well done. Enemies were tough, wasn't too put off by that though. Controls felt nice. Good job :)
Great job for your first jam! Nice atmosphere in the game, nice and simple concept as well. Also the stealing crows flying by was a nice addition in the post-Jam version! Sometimes when I would try and collect fireflies I would end up colliding with them, but that's a small bug (like the fireflies!).
10/10 Would click again.
