At first i thought: hmm whats that. But now i'm really amazed! Even after hours of working i could remeber the icons because of my imaginary (really small) story. I will definetly try it out again ^o^ great work

paragonraptors 2019-10-07 23:46

I loved this! So clever and personal. The only way I could think to improve it would be to add a little ambiance music, but otherwise, fantastic!

celmer89 2019-10-08 00:13

I just have been learning memory palace technique. It is awesome and clever to make a game out of this, well done! :)

purrseus 2019-10-08 02:15

Maaan, this is amazing. It's totally personal and makes you immediately ultra involved. The graphics are superduper cute and the interface ist ultra pretty, too. Really, the only thing to add would be sounds and music.

The third game I played this LD is already one I can see placing way up high! Well done!

seabird 2019-10-08 02:16

Really cool idea. Great job.

inky 2019-10-08 03:07

Haha, I love this!!!! I also only got 1 point because my memory is awful! I love the style of your icons too, this is hands down my favorite writing game now. Good job guy :D

aaranos 2019-10-08 16:49

I think it's definitely unique. The story doesn't have much impact other than to help you remember but it makes a nice little memory game.

vincentvincent 2019-10-08 16:56

very cleaver and unique game, very personnal, i like it!

jlelez 2019-10-08 16:56

Yeah it's really cool ! It's really innovative !

avzgui 2019-10-08 16:57

A good idea fiting well with the theme

Adding music and sound effects should surely improve the global mood.

It makes thing to a board game that i like a lot: [Dream On](https://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/232980/dream)

A little idea if you want to continue your game: i think its totally adaptable for party game (several persons have to construct a story and remember it together)

emiliabea 2019-10-08 16:59

I liked this a lot, the icons are super cute and I like the difficulty of it. Definitely didn't do well my first time :P Sometimes I tried to click finish but ended up clicking something else, or clicked off and had nothing in the story. It didn't bug me much but it would be a nice fix

jayometric 2019-10-08 17:00

Great use of the theme! Filling in your own story was a great addition. Pictures look great as well!

eupde 2019-10-08 17:04

Loved this idea and mechanic, and how it tied in with the actual memory palace technique. Very well done.

james-beninger 2019-10-08 17:09

This is a perfect jam game. It's small, finished and polished, and executes the idea very well. I was actually a bit surprised at how well the story-to-memory technique works, particularly after the draining experience of participating in a jam.

Also, I got to label a hot air balloon "the will of the proletariat", so that was fun.

karwei 2019-10-08 17:23

This was a clever little game—definitely helped me to understand the memory technique. I wasn't very ambitious with my story, but I might have to go back and see if I can really challenge myself. My only complaint is that it was a little easy to misclick on a symbol.

unept 2019-10-08 17:33

This is incredible. Your game forced me to create a story about a leviathan rising from the depths, eating an oil tanker, the hero's grandfather viewing the destruction from the family lighthouse, and the laser spectacles the hero would need to defeat the leviathan. What a great tool for idea generation and maybe writer's block! Seriously!

arbe 2019-10-08 17:41

Neat. Very simple concept, but executed very well. Some accent audio definitely could've helped though.

gamebuilder 2019-10-08 18:04

Cool game. I wish I could see my whole story at the very end. Even so, I had fun writing it. The memory test is a good idea.

detectivelosos 2019-10-08 20:04

This is not so much a game but a quite cool concept. I wrote a couple of funny stories tying events in my life with all these icons and had a very good time doing it. The only problem I had Is that it was a bit sad Hearing that my memory is pretty bad. A couple reassuring words instead And I would be glad. Every time I failed I really wanted to know the actual correct answer, so I really wish there was an option for this. It would also be cool to see the story I've written in the end.

celia14 2019-10-09 02:28

This is a really fun implementation of the memory palace concept! The floating images were so cute. (Though I wish there was some more feedback on which one you're hovering over, since I clicked on a different one than I intended a couple times.) I also had an issue clicking out of the text entry before I had written anything, and I wished I could have gone back to that picture and edited the story for it. But quibbles aside - great job, this is a charming and engaging game. :)

mowgli 2019-10-09 19:39

I think it's a very cool theme adaptation! =)

t-bo 2019-10-09 19:40

Fun memory test with a very personal intro ! I had a lot fun making stories and remember it ! Cool experience !

drrozza 2019-10-09 19:42

The artwork and style was top notch, I would have liked a relaxing soundtrack and cool sfx over it! It was pretty fun setting myself a personal challenge and trying to come up with a story to help me match as many images as I could. Just one thing; I wasn't frustrated as much from clicking the wrong item (which is just part of the game I guess) as not being able to try the same story again if I did get it wrong. But maybe that's just part of the challenge! Either way, nice job.

sam-machell 2019-10-09 19:43

nice idea for sure. im not sure the moving symbols really help the key mechanic of remembering and story telling though.. and im not sure how you could implement it but some kind of way of the story the player writes coming back would be good

nikadra 2019-10-09 19:45

A neat and original idea for a game! It was a lot of fun building up a completely nonsensical story using the symbols and my imagination, then realizing how easy it was to remember it specifically because I had made the story so strange! I could imagine that it gets a lot harder if you use a lot of symbols, however, as I only picked maybe 7 or 8. It's a very fun concept to make a game like this, that challenges your memory in a very unique way!

The graphics are simplistic, but communicate well what it is you're going to write about. Whether or not you made them yourself, they were effective for their purpose, as it obviously is good to be able to quickly understand what they're conveying in order to think of how it can work in your story. All that was missing for me was maybe a little audio, but it's really just a nitpick and certainly nothing crucial!

Overall, it definitely fits with the theme, and it's clever that the game was, in a sense, based off of your difficulties in thinking of a theme for the jam. Well done!

hmaya 2019-10-09 19:45

I was a bit puzzled when asked to make up a story linking icons at first, and then very surprised when asked to remember the icons I had chosen. Then I found myself finding all icons again with surprise. Now I think about it, it's not this surprising because this is how I'm learning japanese kanjis : by making up stories about them, and that's what everyone should do to learn to learn.

This is an amazing game to teach you something about your memory and challenge your creativity. I think you should build it up and spread it.

I have 2 ideas to build this up : - make a server for this to store the stories of everyone who participated to this game - Add music and sound effects

This is already a lot of work for one person in 3 days. Congrats dude.

Fitting to the theme pretty basic graphics but do the job well ! (I would have expected some Fx but that's purely personal) no sound is disapointing but hey, it's so good already most importantly, I had **fun**

Cheers

Neat, this helped my memory. I made a story about stuff and I remembered it. Some things that came to mind that would improve it is being able to press enter to finish the text, and not immediately fail when you misclick when recalling the story. I lost when I accidentally clicked on one image that overlapped the one I wanted. Maybe add another "Finished recalling" story button, and being able to click on the last selected image to unlink it.

u-tsang-clan 2019-10-09 19:48

Occasionally my text input doesn't produce anything and clicking causes it to exit the dialog an apply an empty story to the current icon. Maybe it should not allow you to submit when the story is empty?

bender-biber 2019-10-09 20:02

Click causes an exit was strange. Interesting how good remembering this works >D

el-fideo-rubio 2019-10-09 20:28

I love the making your own story kind of game, I'm just missing something when I finish my story maybe some animations playing maybe a google voice reading through what I wrote but something is missing, but I did like the game a lot :)

kappa-b 2019-10-09 20:29

Awesome for getting ideas flowing. Very nice art and calming atmosphere. I really enjoyed the polish. Well Done!

pedro-rosa 2019-10-11 15:36

Really cool and interesting concept. it seems very personal. Congrats good job :)

strega 2019-10-18 01:32

Interesting concept! I told a simple story about a lizard and spider playing videos games. When I tried to press the finish button it ended up clicking an icon instead, so I had to add another part to my story. It was a bit hard to pick out my icons afterwards, mainly because they moved around. Maybe during the recall phase the icons could be arrange in a grid and still.

johnnysix 2019-10-19 22:03

I like the idea. I was thinking I'd be earning points for writing the story too haha.

Would be cool to have a bit at the end comparing your picked symbol order vs the real order, and the 'story' text in that order too. :)ld45_db-0553.jpg
