LD38 — A Small World

Blomst 🌻 by Ava Skoog 2017-05-01T22:37:40Z

Very chill game. Im not sure if there is a lose condition but I enjoyed it never the less. Walking around planting harvesting and planting the art was pleasing and a nice change from some of the other Ludum games I've been playing. Well done!

Invasion - The Chronicle by Kappa.B 2017-04-26T22:00:55Z

Hello! @sheepking Thanks for checking out the game, Im really glad you enjoy the art I was trying to go for childish make-believe vive when creating it. :)

Anyways Im a bit confused with message. It was not clear to me whether you were able to solve the issue. Regardless Ive done a quick google search for the problem and I came across these two Unity threads.

http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/28199/data-folder-next-to-the-executable-solved.html

http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/1175246/unity3d-run-on-linux-show-there-is-no-data-folder.html

If you are able to solve please let me know In the mean time I will keep an eye out for possible solutions.

Best of luck

Hey! @chaseplays Im so glad you liked the concept and I am happy to tell you that Ive already begun working on a Post-Compo version. I hope to find some spare time to finish it soon. You also commented on Research , It would seem that you got very unlucky with your draws. A Research building is provided in the starting deck. I will take this in mind and maybe give other avenues to get some research points.

Finally @nicolas-shapland and @chaseplays both of you commented on the fact that you were unable to get out of the Recycling Window without removing a card. Forgive my sleep deprived design decision. It was in fact decision I made not to allow the player to proceed without removing a card. But after further analyzes I will be fixing this and some other issues Ive come across. No longer will you be forced to Pick :)

Thank you both for the feedback

Invasion - The Chronicle by Kappa.B 2017-04-30T13:03:54Z

Hey! @veralos Thanks for playing my game and giving me feedback. I am aware that the game is complex therefore it can get very confusing very quickly. I am wondering what version of the game did you play, the Compo or the Post-Compo version??? I ask because in the new version I change how the deck dealt the player cards. This change should have given you a science building with-in the first 1-4 draws of the deck. Let me know!

Invasion - The Chronicle by Kappa.B 2017-05-01T15:36:27Z

@nidup Im on it right now... Fiddling with the resolutions sizes so that text shows up properly. Should have a web version up soonish!

@nidup Web Version is up and ready. Enjoy!

Hibernaculum by redpanda 2017-05-01T21:36:05Z

Amazing game! Beautiful art, the theme was very cute. I love it well done guys. If there is one thing to critique and I understand the time restrains of jam but I would have love to see a couple more puzzles. But Over all wonderful job.

Small World Resort Manager by udo 2017-05-16T23:45:28Z

nice management game I think the people icons are bit big and generic blocking the view of buildings.I would have loved to see more variety in the people.. even changing there colors would have been enough. Over all well done. I needed up with 3 stars and 147m in my bank

SPAAAAAACE. by Kano 2017-05-20T13:27:32Z

For 1.5 hours great job. Not much of interactive game but I enjoyed the art. I sure people can learn to speed run this game

Itsa Pixel! by damnscout 2017-05-01T22:19:41Z

Hey interesting little game. It took me a little while to realize that I need to get the color based on shape shown. A audio cue when it changes might be useful. I really like the concept and it proved to be a challenge to get all three colors later on. Great job and welcome to the Ludum Community.

RSV Resourcer by Brandon Diaz 2017-05-16T23:25:23Z

Well done for 48h it had a good amount of polish. I think it was a smart idea to use voice over. Im not sure if this was a bug or intentional but half way through I was unable to place any new items. The game play was simple but clean concept also a different take on a small.

Small World by andrewl 2017-05-01T21:30:53Z

Hey just finish playing your game I got to 6.3 billion. Taking into account that it was made in 6 hours I think i was a fun little game. You got everything you needed art, music, an easy to understand game loop, a tutorial. Well done!

Brainstorm 38 by DocGeraud 2017-05-01T17:38:51Z

Wow what great idea. I love the humor that you added to the theme, its very unique interpretation of the small world theme. It has nice narrative and the platforming was a nice twist. The art was good but the color palette was little strong for me with the red and yellow. the music was hypnotizing and fit very well with the game. I had good fun playing it!

Fading World by octonion 2017-05-20T13:23:00Z

it was a bit confusing that I had to save the purple monsters at first I just avoided them. The game was way to easy and never felt in danger of losing. Adding turrets or puzzles would have been a nice touch to have added.

Universal Journey by mundell 2017-05-01T16:49:50Z

Nice game! I enjoyed playing it. If i were to criticize something is that the web version I was unable to go full screen therefore I was unable to view what was going on on the sides. If you make a web version that just a bit smaller I would have been able to see the whole game with out using the fullscreen function. Over all I enjoyed the music, the pixel graphics, the game play very easy to get into, it wasn't difficult figure what is going on, and good level of complexity to it. Great job!

Depth Gun by leafo 2017-05-16T23:56:24Z

Unfortunately i was unable to play this game the OSX build every time I dowloaded and unzipped it I get this message “You can’t open the application “depthgun” because it may be damaged or incomplete.” To bad cause that game looks really cool and I was looking forward to trying it.

A Social Network by law5guy 2017-04-30T13:28:26Z

Hey @law5guy great Little game!. I absolutely love how the people interact with each other as well the simple pixel art aesthetic. Very cute and good intuitive controls. Similarly to @terracottafrog comment I would have loved to have seen some more complex arrangements of the people in order to solve the puzzle. Oh btw congrats on you first solo jam! I couldn't agree more with analyzes of working alone. Sometimes we lean on others to much and don't really appreciate how wonderful they are at what they do; Until we ourselves try to replicate what they do. Keep at it!

Nice puzzles I enjoyed them! The Music was nice and went well with the setting. The art was very clean the Robot sounds effects were good. Well Done!

PRAY FOR TESLA by slovnoslomo 2017-08-03T15:55:28Z

Would have loved some sounds to go with the great graphics. It a difficult game and I am still not sure what the all the building do especially the building that cost 35 to build. I got up to 15 waves. Great work

No Danger Is Too Much by Kappa.B 2017-12-05T21:27:00Z

Let me Know what you guys think. If you beat the game what was your high score???

No Danger Is Too Much by Kappa.B 2017-12-06T03:14:31Z

Yeh... thats what happens when you rush a tutorial in 1 hour. I wish I had a couple more hours with it but thats the compo. Thanks for the feedback

No Danger Is Too Much by Kappa.B 2017-12-07T15:36:56Z

@detectivelosos I'm so sorry the Online high scores did not work for you. I've been doing a little bit of testing and it would appear that Web build for some reason will not connect to the server. If you download the game and play the game through the Windows/Mac/Linux version you should have not issues connecting. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

I've add your high score to the online LeaderBoard : https://www.dropbox.com/s/3w9ezjn08j1k3hz/Screen%20Shot%202017-12-07%20at%2010.25.01%20AM.png?dl=0

Congratulations on your #1 spot.

If anyone has had the same issue please contact me and ill try to add your score to the online LeaderBoard.

BaconMan by josefnpat 2017-12-08T05:28:44Z

I accept your bribe... So BaconMan I found to be a funny game unit it wasn't then a few more moment passed and it was funny again. The sounds would get under my skin but somehow permeate funny and keep me engaged. It was a unique experience where the essence of it wasn't to satisfy a power fantasy or test out wits but to enjoy the hilarity of the art and sound coupled with a strange setting full of sharks, squirrels, chickens, and bacon. All I can say is I enjoyed it. There was clearly no real intent to make a ground breaking game here but to have fun. Well done guys maybe next game could be Tofu man the evil twin of bacon man.

Elden by red-fan-games 2017-12-05T22:04:17Z

Looks beautiful unfortunately I can’t play it. Im using a mac atm.

Network Invader by drazil100 2017-12-06T06:56:07Z

4100 on the first play. Not sure if that is any good. I like the art and the music the game concept is basic but it was well executed. people are saying it reminds them of startfox but I would also add that the enemies remind me tron. Overall well done.

Quantum's Rick by cortexdeveloper 2017-12-06T03:47:36Z

Fun game Finished it in my 2nd try... as long as you don't screw up early its easy to beat. nice theme nice art good music... I want my Mcnugget sauce

Bulls & Tomatoes by Wheezy247 2017-12-07T02:19:49Z

Lovely homage to Tomatina and pamplona. The art was good the music was okay but the game was too easy. After getting to 300m with 100% Tomato and 0% chance of dying I had to quit the game. I love the idea of the tomatoes making your clothing more red in turn making the bulls angry, but i think you could have done more with them. For example you could have made some of the tomatoes fall in the path leaving a a puddle to slow people or make the bulls slip and be knock for a few seconds. You could have made the bulls be able to run in front of the runner and maybe add other civilians running also getting crushed by the bulls and bumping into you. I think with a bit more mechanics this could have been a really fun endless runner. Anyways well done

Snake Mango by Kappa.B 2018-08-14T00:04:48Z

Thanks guys @tutelagesystems @austino-bobino @amras0000 @andre-van-zuydam @dps2004 for letting me know. you are correct @andre-van-zuydam I had my itch page in draft mode still. Ive made the change to public now, sorry for the inconvenience. I hope you guys are willing to give it a another attempt. Cant wait to hear what you guys think. Have fun!

Snake Mango by Kappa.B 2018-08-14T00:33:57Z

@andre-van-zuydam can you elaborate a bit more for me. Do you mean I dont get the music or audio from an artistic point, or do you mean that the version that you played lacked audio? if so what version was that, Win,Mac,Linux? I will keep an eye out for anyone else having audio issues. thanks for the feedback.

Snake Mango by Kappa.B 2018-08-14T01:47:07Z

@adrianfl Thanks for the feedback. I do agree that some rooms layouts only give you one movement to avoid collision with a wall, Ive lost many runs to those room changes. and congrats on the leaderboard!!

and Congrats to @alexei-jilinskiy as well for taking the number 1 spot with 131 score, even tho it was short lived :P ... Had to try to beat it myself, 133 is the new King!!! Muhahaha

as for the delay in buttons, the game is reading the player input every update. when the snake has to move it moves in the direction of the last player input. any previous inputs are are forgotten, and have no influence on the movement of the snake. the snake is moving at 1/4 second. I wonder if I add to the top right corner an icon displaying the last player input was, would that clear up what the snakes next move will be. anyways thanks for the feedback!

@austino-bobino Thanks!

Snake Mango by Kappa.B 2018-08-14T15:46:05Z

@amras0000 Thanks for the feedback. I really do appreciate the time taken to write a long review. As for Tempo you are 100% correct, that the Snake doesn't move to the beat. it is a conundrum that im still struggling with. the song is written in 90BPM meaning one beat is every 1.5s, at that rate the game is way way way too slow. if I take the 1.5 and speed up the movement to x4 per beat i will get something a bit more comparable to the .25f movement speed I have at present. However At 0.375 per second movement, the game is still 150% slower then at present, it doesn't feel nice to me. if i make it x8 per beat, i get 0.1875f moment, 25% faster then present, at that rate we are hitting past the reaction time for visual stimulus. I am proud of the song therefore I am torn, do I throw it away and make a song at 60 or 120 BPM to coordinate beat and movement or do I change the the movement or do I leave it. Im still not sure what to do.

Snake Mango by Kappa.B 2018-08-15T14:32:59Z

Haha @bloodyaugust noticed! it was pointed out to me some time ago by a real life friend, but no else has ever mentioned it. Happy little accident. As for the High score I use the service of dreamlo to host. they make it very easy to implement into any game, the only drawback is with creating a web version of the game, it wont connect to the high score voiding that feature completely. ive been using them for acouple of previous LD i like them. As for the game I spent the first day and half thinking and planning what I wanted to to do, I began really working on it the last 12-ish hours. the implementation of the classic Snake gameplay was a self imposed challenge, 15 mins to do it. it took me 19mins because of 2 logic errors, aside from that it took me 2-3ish hours to implement everything I needed. and the rest of the time was polishing. If i had more time I was would have turned it into more of dungeon crawl, with other snakes enemies to eat for more points, jumping mechanics, portals, and bunch of other stuff. but Im glad I kept it simple tho.

Upwards by Nitin Kumar 2018-08-14T18:24:48Z

Well Done! great little game and congratulation on your first LD. things I loved about it, the transition from lvl to lvl was very smooth and satisfying made the jump feel powerful, I love the leniency with collision on killing a enemy, nice variety of chances obstacles and enemy to change the game flow, the custom tail renderer was a nice touch. my only complain is the music, it got old very quickly. quality of life change would be to implement a restart by pressing R key for quick transition, since your using keys only for playing the moving from keyboard to mouse to restart is not a seamless transition from game to game. Over all you should be proud of the work accomplished.

Slime Sumo by bloodyaugust 2018-08-13T22:04:08Z

I love the art, the game was fun, the sounds weren't overly annoying, A win in my book, well done.

I do have some suggestions tho. When I first started it wasn't very clear to me that the red was lava, A way of solving that might be to animate the red border with some bubbling effect similar to the slime spawns, maybe even add a shoreline animation, tide of lava pushing in and out.

As for gameplay, simple but effective, tho I did find when losing at higher levels, the thought of the grinding the early levels to be off putting. Especially lvl 1 and 2 I felt they were a time sink with no real threat of losing in them. therefore when I reached lvl 9 and lost i stopped playing cause I wasn't motivated to grind my way back to lvl 9 to try to beat it. A way you could solve this might be to implement check points after completing certain levels, remove the grind from early levels.

Overall well done!

Chief Data Engineer by candlesan 2018-08-14T02:27:49Z

Congratulation on making a game! this game was awesome. I love the puzzles and the Star Trek theme. At first i was concern that the puzzles were too easy but the last 2 gave me a satisfying challenge well done. Ss for my only critique, when completing a level there was no indication on how to exit. I would have to wait a few seconds and randomly click. this random clicking made me do the 2nd last mission twice. but overall well done.

Meager by Andrew Friedman 2018-08-14T03:42:38Z

I love the color choice! overall well done. It would be nice if the enemies would spawn a few tiles away tho. giving the player a safe zone, enough time to react to a enemies. sometimes when I start a new level the enemy would spawn right next to me. no time to react instant death. great work overall tho!

Roham! by Fenderbate 2018-08-14T18:09:48Z

Well done! nice idea, I like the simple graphics. as the only critique I have is the main menu camera is too slow and clunky movement. I love the way you implement the tutorial but the camera movement needs some work. Overall Well Done.

Ephemera by atmospherium 2019-05-06T19:16:11Z

Wow, nice job! The particles and effects are very impressive, I had no idea that Unity system could do that. The music fit nicely! It was an enjoyable trip to experience I am impressed well done!

Grim Adventures by ursagames 2019-05-06T17:29:48Z

Over all well done! you hit the theme dead on. I Do consider myself among the people that would have enjoyed been able to move the camera around. at some points during the platforming a better angle would have made things a bit more smoothly. also for performance reasons the ribbon effect could have been tone down a bit especially on the Manifestation boss really too laggy, for the very narrow timings require to beat it. I would have liked to see fast travel to main hub if you finished a section. I enjoyed the music it didn't get old while playing it. I enjoyed that content was locked out until you gained the right skills. the enemy attacks were very clear. the art was good. Well Done man!

Zap Signal by christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2019-05-08T17:34:59Z

Very Fun! I couldn't stop laughing with Waaaaa! very good game! I would love it if maybe for the future upgrades you can add a Woooo! for dodge mechanic or a Wiiiii for an ultimate attack. very Well done!

Dungeon Boast by Ted Carter 2019-05-07T04:42:27Z

I played game reminded me of the Zelda games of old in the gameboy, I think you guys did a really well job at getting the nostalgia. but I was never able to figure out how to use the bombs, and a few room generation made it impossible to not take damage in the first step. I really enjoyed the 8-bit music. Its a hard game, but over all well done guys!

Flash Dash Dungeon by Raymoclaus 2019-05-07T03:30:14Z

Hey im glad you made it to LD last minute, i enjoyed the company while developing. Your game turned out really well, you should be proud. I love the pixel art and the procedure generation made it refreshing. well done hopefully ill see you next LD

S.A.S.S. by mcovert 2019-05-09T02:48:54Z

Great Jobs! My first thought was that the sensibility was too high, especially for the up and down motion, the side to side was okay, It took a little while to get use to it, but after that it was a smooth sailing. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, after lvl 3 the game really picks up. The upgrade do feel satisfying and worth their cost. The pixel art and the music set up mood nicely. Over all Very well done!

Robo Portrait by finalspace 2019-05-04T05:11:18Z

Hahah Darn That Butterfly! Well done guys, it was surprisingly entertaining, it hooked me in more then I would have ever thought. My first round was a failure as i didn't not yet realized that I had to copy the image but other then that it was smooth sailing. the song is on point

Life Death + Lemons by Random Thoughts 2019-05-04T05:43:37Z

The delete button had me scared for a while, I wasnt sure if deleting would cost me lives or if delete meant my whole hand was going to be thrown out. I had a full hand and 3 lemonades incoming, I lost them all :( but anyways well done! I like the reigns inspired art style, the song was perfect for setting the mood of a mundane life serving lemonade. Im glad to see many difficulties. Nice job!

Jukebox Panic! by Kaish 2019-05-04T15:35:06Z

Awesome game! I enjoyed the graphic a lot well done. I think this game can be easily expanded to include more mechanics, I suggested adding gum for a multiplayer version were the gum could jam the opposite jukebox for few seconds if you go down that route. again well done!

Super Basic Game Plus by Carbs 2019-05-06T22:03:38Z

I ended up doing a pacifist run idk if i cheated by doing so. but I felt that strategy was the most efficient way to reach the end. One of the things that made super mario's jump fell so good was the fact the downward falling had more power to it. what I mean is the the downward forces were a bit stronger when he fell. this gave the mario's jump the felling of powerful vs floaty. The jumps in this game felt very unity floaty. I reckon that you used the in game gravity with little or no tweaking the values. Not bad for a Jam but tweaking things can make a big difference. its about playing around with it until you have something that fells powerful. I liked how when i press the downward key while in the air the character fell faster, i would have like to see that more of that feel as the default. Here is video that i think could be useful https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=633&v=7KiK0Aqtmzc Anyways I played up to lvl 25 but i think at the point I was re living the same lvls for sometime. I think overall you executed it well!

60 Days Till Summer by Fnkee 2019-05-07T01:39:53Z

Well done simple but affective. at first I was quite afraid of hitting full on any of the categories as I thought you might have implemented the Reigns game over mechanic when you did, luckily you didn't. Im in the same vote as everyone else, more content would have been nice. The amount of work you did isn't lost on me. Narrative games with choices are surprisingly hard and take a good amount of time to do. Well done!

Grim Deeper by FalseBracket 2019-05-06T21:23:39Z

Well done! I saw a couple of streamer play the game and I had to give it a go myself. I am not disappointed I enjoyed the combat and the atmosphere a lot. the art is amazing, keep up the good work and good luck with your main project out LD. I hope to see you next LD too

@grhyll Thanks for playing! im gald you enjoyed the music, I had a lot fo fun making it. unfortunately there is no more content after. @agrdev Thank you for playing my game, im happy to hear you liked the music and art, and thanks for the confirmation.I've had the opportunity to test it out on 2 macs, on one it ran perfectly and on the other It was offset. No Idea why that is the case yet. Do you mind telling what model of Mac you used?

Meet Meow by Kappa.B 2019-10-10T06:26:04Z

@hkspadez thanks for the feedback

Meet Meow by Kappa.B 2019-10-11T19:47:43Z

@agrdev Good news. It took me awhile but I figured it out!!! It turns out its bunch of things that have nothing to do with Mac per se, more to do Unity build settings and the intended aspect ration for gameplay. Macs as they tend to use 16:10 aspect ratio for their laptops were more prone to the issues.

When I started making my game I knew I need to be force 16:9 ratio on the player, for reasons to do with how I implemented the window system in game. How I went about doing this was ignorant. I assumed the place to do so is in build settings, it turns out that No this leads to issues as things get overwritten. the best place to force aspect ration is on runtime. I made a simple script to force a 16:9 ratio and everything was fixed. lessons learned. thanks again for responding.

Cell by SirRed 2019-10-10T07:14:21Z

Well done guys, Im really digging the art. my criticisms would come from the floaty nature of the movement. I would suggest for a precision platformer you have to get those controls to feel responsive and floaty gravity does feel confident. but overall Well Done

Something Magical by wasd 2020-04-22T15:57:19Z

Amazing ambience, Love the art and music, very calming perfect for after jam playing and distressing. Unfortunate I did find an issued with a UI that made it almost unplayable. I suspect the Ui build for a 16:9 monitor unfortunately I played it in a 16:10, therefore the shop close button was visually mostly under the Plantcount and the hit box was significantly shifted I was forced to click fro a few minutes in the surrounded area to find the hitbox. @gamescodedogs thanks for the feedback, I agree the game could have used more clarity and guidance.

@bigquacko thanks for the feedback, I agree the game is a bit repetitive, I wish i had more time for the other feature, I had planned a few curveballs and abilities that I think would have turned the game upside-down, but atlas no time. anyways thanks for playing <3

Hey @theothersamp Im so Sorry to hear that you had troubles. From your description it seems to me like it was defiantly a bug. To start the game all you have to do is drag and place a Red 2 on the door. It should have started the level right away. Thats so weird I wonder.. It might be a resolution thing where the hit box was offset weird. or one of the builds in a different system isn't working properly. would you let me know what system you are playing in and your screen ration 16:9 or 16:10 or other?thanks for try anyways, and for letting me know.

Really simple but fun game, i spend a lot longer than I thought I would trying to beat my highscore. I really like the boop sound effect. sometimes simple games are the most satisfying to play. Well done!

Hey @quixatocs Sorry, I had to take down the links down, the game terrain generation was crashing. I needed to find the time to go in and make sure it was not doing that before submitting it again. It turns out when the game attempted to place the houses it created an Infinite loop. I just fixed it, hopefully everything should work. The game is still incomplete but at least it doesn't crash and you can play it. Thanks

Number One Take Out by Kappa.B 2018-04-28T07:12:02Z

@dob @EmptyButton Thanks for letting me know, I think it should be fixed. apparently Unity decided you need to include dll with the game. Ive uploaded the new version. Have fun, love to hear what you guys think!

Number One Take Out by Kappa.B 2018-04-28T07:29:17Z

@tsedate Me too, I just didn't have time to make any music or even add sound effects. The scope and Time management were the biggest challenge I faced this LD. in fact the only reason the enemies are circles is cause I ran into the same issue. Unfortunately sometimes you need to pick your battles. I hope you still enjoyed the game even in its unfinished state.

@TayGoS Aww you are so sweet. Im super happy you really enjoyed the art. So all the art was hand drawn in a tablet and I exported each sprite. I gave it soft colors and kept the translucency. The biggest struggle with the art style I had was making it feel more or less organic and not too structured, Since the maps are Procedurally generated I had to figure out how to make the art feel more hand made. I would love to experiment more with this style in the future i think it has potential. This is what is so great about LD you discover and experiment. Thanks for playing my game

Number One Take Out by Kappa.B 2018-04-30T00:58:31Z

@Kobrar So sorry to hear about the money, I'll definitely will work on a better communication for next LD. To get money is actually quite simple, just walk towards and touch the building the red arrow is pointing to. I hope that clears up the confusion, I would love to hear how your experience is now that you can make money. Let me know if you play it again!

@legavroche Yes I agree the 2nd and 4th on bullet upgrade does split the bullets and makes it harder to hit things right in front. As for the HighScore, it is unfortunately only for those that win the game, forgive my sleep deprived brain for that wrong judgment. I do regret not letting anyone submit a score win or lose. I will make sure to open it up for the next time.

@NORRIMO Yeh I agree that the game is a bit hard, from the few people ive seen play this it seems if they are not already familiar with the dodging and weaving of bullet hell games this games can be struggle, therefore preventing them from getting much money. I tried to balance it but had very little time. I made sure that I could beat it 100% with roughly 2100 money far lower then my 4000 money I get in a good run. It seems like i need to ask for help play testing things in the future. Thanks for the feed back.

@MaxKlimenok Thanks for the post, It really feels good to see people take the time to write a well thought out comment. About the buffs, I originally did plan on having destructible crates and buffs available but after play testing it, each round lasted way longer then what I was comfortable with for Ld game. I might look into it more in the future but there would be have to be a complete rework of the balancing

Zap Herder by foolmoron 2018-04-28T05:42:45Z

Interesting game, Loved the particle effects and sounds, if felt great to move around and try to make the longest line. I wish I had taken s creenshot of my high score to share but my high score was 59k. Well done

Neko Drift! by BluShine 2018-04-28T17:48:26Z

Well done, At first it was a massive struggle to even reach the checkpoints but eventually I found the right balance between acceleration and turning. It was actually quite enjoyable once I got use to the control to try and to complete the first track in the shortest amount of time. there were a couple of occasions I found myself facing backwards and funny enough sometimes it was easier to get through obstacles that way.

I love the idea of a tower defence and racer combine but I think the way it was implemented made completing the track almost impossible to do. More often then not I would find the track completely littered with cats unable to get through, It would slow me to a stop and ruin the delicate balance between speed and drift I need to maintain. I think one way you could go about solving this might be to make the cats not so heavy. Have them slow or slightly nudge the player but as they are currently I would hit one and it felt like hitting a wall. Another suggestion would be to make the track wider allow the player to really explore the drifting, give them more room to manoeuvre out of the way of the cats.

As for the tower defence at first I was very confusing. It took me a couple rounds and a bit of experimentation to understand how and where to place the towers, But I will be honest I still don't quite understand the best placement for them. If they are too close the enemies it would shoot upwards and simply nudge the cats higher but not changing much the trajectory. also even tho I would try to dedicate one tower to every enemy It still felt it wasn't enough to keep the track clean. The tower projectiles on occasion was an issue for me, More then once I lost a game because The tower was trying to hit one of the cats in the tack and It would hit me instead. You could solve this by simply putting The player in a different layer that doesn't interact with the physics of the projectiles.

Over all well done, the game could use a rework but the concept is sounds. i love the cats and sounds, the car drifting was enjoyable. Can't wait to see what you do next LD.

Art of the Kill by Adrenallen 2018-04-28T05:56:41Z

Sadie's Stabby Sword Story by Elowan 2018-04-29T19:57:10Z

Your Mac download is broken, the file I was given is Windows build, aslo in your Itch page the "Mac download" is using the linux penguin. not sure if you meant to make a linux version instead of a Mac one. Wish i could give a play to your game but I cant until it is fixed

Sadie's Stabby Sword Story by Elowan 2018-04-30T16:45:57Z

@GameSmartt Yes the new files is correct, thanks for fixing it. I love the pixel art and the music they complemented each other nicely. I particularly enjoyed the story board beginning, you don't typically see that amount of polish. A very simple concept but well executed. Well done!

Transcribable Survival by Wugbor 2018-05-01T01:16:02Z

Really hard game! but I think that was the point, a good example why you shouldn't do a survival game with commands hahah. Really well done tho. Lovely game and and cute simple art, I really enjoyed the concept even tho is was a challenge. Great job.

The Mad Bulleteer by Diego Escalante 2018-04-28T04:33:17Z

Awesome Game, It shows that you don't need to over complicate things to make a great game. I can really respect that, I wish I had that insight when I did my LD game. I love the Pacing, It allowed me to immerse myslef and slowly building up the tension and difficulty, Soon i was dodging bullets trying to weave myself to safety or to preemptively kill an annoying enemy before they get the chance to unleash the barrage of bullets. Great game well done.
