I got 5(4.9) stars and a overall score of 3296. Forgot to research stuff at first.
There's some kind of bug with research timer not showing up and thus never completing until you reload the page(got 41% in to a season before I realized that the research I started at the start probably isn't going to get done)
Also there seems to be a cap of 100 people so I'd assume that doing more harbors at that point would be a waste.

Thanks for trying it out! I didn't realize the spawn cap was still in there, it's now 50 people per harbor, as it should be. I couldn't reproduce the problem with the research timer not showing up. Using the desktop version would probably solve that.
Played twice .. it seems research does not work

That's very unspecific. What happens when you try to research? Like I said, if you're not on Chrome, I'd advise using the downloadable version.

Had alot of fun with it. Played through twice because I didn't see you could do research the first time. Only criticism would be the audio got old, particularly the second time through, and the buttons to switch buildings was a bit tempormental (I was using the Web version, and the buttons would work 90% of the time, but 10% of the time I'd accidently be trying to put down the wrong building).
Nice job!
Hi, this was fun! Great clean interface and almost no bugs, very polished, pretty addictive.
A few notes: - I was able to screw myself by immediately buying a hotel for 10m and not making any money (i tohught the first 2 options were blanked out). Maybe change the starting money to 9m to prevent this? - It wasn't obvious how to get started and/or what was giving me money. However once I got the hang of it all is well. - Great look, and the population's ai seems to work well. - Sometimes the words in the speech bubbles were hard to read (seems like an issue with fonts/scaling). I also thought that 'rest' meant they want a hotel to rest...but then decided it means 'restaurant'? Which is it? - It seemed to me like it was a bit unbalanced: once you get a nightclub your money just goes crazy and i spammed nightclubs and became a billionaire real quick. But that might be the point. There were no consequences (as far as I could tell) to unhappy travellers, some of them would leave I suppose, but my nightclub spam did a good job. - On my first game research went fine, but i replayed and it wasn't working.
Overall a great entry. Really simple intuitive interface and the systems all seem to work as intended :D GOOD JOB

@stoogebag when they say "rest" that means rest at a hotel, when they want to go to the restaurant they say "hunger". It's not always clear which tourist said what, maybe that was the source of the confusion (if two of them say something, one bubble may be on top of another).
I'm not sure what's up with the research bug, I can't even reproduce it right now. I switched some things around, but until I can actually reproduce I'm afraid it'll keep happening. Did you play the web version or the downloadable one?
About the negative consequences: I had pollution and night club unpleasantness planned, but I ran out of time to implement it. This game came together very late, and it's kind of a shame that I didn't do the Jam, because adding cool features wouldn't take long now...
Thanks to everybody who tried the game <3 I gotta work right now, but I'm going to play the games of everybody who commented here tomorrow at the latest!
I like this game, the sounds are funny and the gameplay is fun. Bugginess is preventing my progress.
I played in the browser and it seems to store a lot in the cache or something, because if I close the window and open a new one its the same gamestate!
Making a new game from the options also introduces some other bugs (like the research stuff other folks mentioned)
I LIKE IT
Congrats on your Compo!!
EDIT
Okay,
I thought the money coming in was slow... then I built a second harbor and it took off from there, there were so many brown stick figures demanding party, beach and hunger like cro-magnon frat boys.

Thanks for trying it out. People keep reporting problems with the research system, but I haven't gotten a description out of you guys on what actually goes wrong. What happens when you click on the research menu item? Does the research window open? If so, what happens when you click an option there? If nothing happens, are you sure you have enough money? After you select a research option, do you see a status message about it in the log?
Really loved the sound effects, I always want to record little voices like that but always end up throwing some bfxr sounds in at the last second to save time. The only constructive feedback I would have is that it maybe takes a little longer than is ideal to get up and running. It was really fun to play and watch everything happen once I got going, but it took me a little long than I would have wanted to get up and running. Really enjoyed it!
Didn't have any issues with research btw, and played in chrome.

I really enjoyed my playthrough of this management sim. I ran out of money pretty quickly and thought I was screwed until I checked the research tab (which I had no issues with, although the season-extending research didn't seem to work) and used the shady credits research. It made me feel like Ja Rule planning out FyreFest from that point on and I was basically printing money once I had a hotel and a pool. I liked the cutesy sound effects and feel like a reggae soundtrack would have sealed the deal. Was a good way to kill ~15 minutes and would like to see you extend it into a game similar to Roller Coaster Tycoon but with tiny levels, each having their own unique challenge. Also, good job making the controls/menus super intuitive for anyone who's played a sim game before.
It was a nice game, but after 10 minutes my island was full, people were unhappy, I had lots of money, but I couldn't do something to make my resort better. I would also like to play with bigger island and maybe upgradable buildings.

picture.png A lot of fun playing this! I love the sound of people when move to beach hahaha. The Small World concept here is interesting although is not important at all. This is one of the best polished and solid games I have seen on this jam (You did it too good in Compo :astonished:). Congratulations.

Thank you @furazin, I see you went for mass tourist appeal and money with your 3 stars and 535M bank account :D
I agree, Small World Resort Manager is quite polished (although by far not the most polished Compo entry I've seen this time around), however the downside is that I didn't get all the features in I wanted...
A solid project which fits with the theme as well. I loved all sounds and the main gameplay. As said @furazin this is one of the best polished games I have seen during the LD38. A good entry. Thank you for your comment ++
I like the management theme of the game, it actually works quite well too! Very fun!
Enjoyed this! The research added depth and I liked having to be a bit shady when starting out.
This was a blast! Ended up with Clubs everywhere and made BANK. Near the end, "No undefined available" kept spamming the log, maybe that was because I filled every tile and people couldn't hike? Not sure. Great work, I love this type of game and you made a solid one.
I really enjoyed this game... despite landing only 3 start :p Simple and fun!

nice management game I think the people icons are bit big and generic blocking the view of buildings.I would have loved to see more variety in the people.. even changing there colors would have been enough. Over all well done. I needed up with 3 stars and 147m in my bank
