LD49 — Unstable

Geomancy by Ted Carter 2021-10-06T00:08:08Z

Thanks, @tattomoosa ! I agree. There are a lot of abilities. Ran out of time to make an upgrade system that would meter them out. For any curious folks, all attacks do the same amount of damage - the only difference is their attack pattern and element. Elements affect how much damage an attack does to the enemy, who also has an element (fire, water, grass just like Pokemon). Rolling a gold on the slot machine or destroying terrain supercharges your attack, though, so attacks that cost more have more opportunities for damage boosts.

Datesweeper by Tygrak 2018-05-03T16:16:52Z

I'm apparently really bad at Minesweeper  Pretty fun. I liked that difficulty was visible for the dialogue choices. Sometimes I'd choose something really hard just because it was a more interesting topic :D

Really great art!

Survival Cannon by Ted Carter 2018-04-28T16:45:12Z

Thanks for checking it out, @temmy!

So each crate has a different effect. Wood and stone ones give wood and stone, red ones explode, black ones produce smoke monsters - which take away health - and green ones have whatever is on the picture. You can click on the crafting menu in the middle right of the screen to combine resources a la Terraria/Minecraft. Some of the resources in the upper right hand corner are clickable as well. So food will fill you up, medicine heals you, and torches are placed in the level for lighting the way at night time. Torches also are used for cooking in the crafting menu, so it's good to have a lot of them! They'll burn out 15 seconds after placing.

You need to keep crafting cannon balls to shoot, and building a kiln will let you craft cooler cannons. If you run out of cannons, you can still shoot, but it'll cost you health and you won't get a trajectory indicator.

You don't have to clear a level to proceed - just blast the crates you want and try not to break the black crates. Pressing the little green runner button will go to a new area and advance time a bit, but cost food (travel works up an appetite). The idea is to survive as long as possible. Unfortunately, the game doesn't get harder at the moment, so it's pretty easy to be set for life.

Planned additions: - More level configurations - Difficulty ramp (basically just dropping more black crates) - Time-based hunger - A day counter so you can say "I got to day 5!" or whatever

@roidz Good catch! I forgot to fill that part out!

Quizoids by Dan Violet Sagmiller 2018-05-03T16:27:52Z

Interesting game. The letters seem to appear randomly, though. Maybe the next correct letter could have a greater spawn chance? I found myself waiting around for the correct letter a lot.

Stone Age X/O: Inception by stark 2018-04-28T16:57:21Z

The inception part was interesting as a level-up mechanic. Well done.

threeSpace by HS_Dave 2018-04-28T15:48:59Z

I really like the aesthetic of the game. No tweening in the match 3 side was a little jarring, and I felt like it took way too long to get anywhere. Wish you could do something on uninhabited planets, or that they'd influence the match 3 side somehow

FPSville by Lyrcaxis 2018-04-28T20:12:21Z

Impressive quest and messaging system!

Sneak To The Rhythm by BlakeMcDeezy 2018-04-28T21:15:17Z

Wow, these 2 genres combined really well actually! Waiting around in a stealth game isn't usually in fixed time segments, so it really became a puzzle. Well done!

Skate'n'Snipe by Jonathan Lorenz 2018-04-28T15:57:32Z

Having to click Move/Stop was a bit frustrating. Since we use space to jump anyhow, it would have been nice to use D to move forward and A to stop, or just release D to stop. I liked that the game basically forces you to snipe while airborne, though. Felt pretty badass.

Geom by ddolgov 2018-04-28T16:35:07Z

Really fun! I liked that you keep your progress when you die. After killing and being killed at the same time I got into a weird state where symbols were overlapping, the timing bar was freaking out, etc.

Shoot And Wait by Alexander Borisov 2018-05-03T16:41:33Z

Really interesting game. Reminiscent of Superhot and Frozen Synapse! Super hard, though. Wish there were a dash or overwatch action! I guess that's good, though. I want more!

Line'em up by arche-san 2018-04-28T16:11:15Z

Loved it! Great concept, level design, and potential to make all kinds of interesting ship/puzzle geometries. Graphics and audio fit the concept.
