LD39 — Running out of Power

Crystals Of Power by Avon 2017-08-01T16:35:40Z

Pretty good effort! There is a lack of refinement that is expected in these time constraints and the controls could do with a little tweaking (the strafing felt particularly slow) but I enjoyed it and played through to the end. In the last fight i spotted a demon before I left the tower stairwell and "killed it" from the doorway. When I then came out two other demons dropped down and the corpse of the third joined them and then its corpse started firing at me XD I killed the two normal ones but it was impossible to kill the already dead one which was stuck shooting me - so I just dodged it and killed the crystal.

I bet theres a good game waiting to be pulled out of this with carefully designed levels built around the reflect and maybe a few new magical abilities :)

Hamster Wheel Simulator by Laaph 2017-08-01T12:08:27Z

as above, levels 1 and 2 were a brease and level 3 proved completely beyond me to complete :P Fun little thing though, graphics and audio were very suitable!

Console Commander by kryptarchy 2017-08-06T14:32:10Z

I really liked the idea! NOW.. integrate this with a twitch bot and let a chat of people all take control of the ship and I think something special might happen ;)

Robot Run by jake 2017-08-01T01:25:49Z

no link to game?

Ducks in a Row by hgcummings 2017-08-01T11:12:42Z

I really love the idea! It would be nice to see this evolve beyond the concept/demo and into something a little more fleshed out - I would certainly play it :) +1 for rubber ducks.

Terminal Attraction by Aumbra 2017-08-01T16:12:06Z

The WORLD wasn't ready for this. bwaha it was a good laugh! I did have a little issue, I went out with penelope first and when the "date" was over it started talking as if I had been on a date with "terry" who I never saw on the sparkr list. At some point stranger turned up and conversation goes back to terry again as if I had met them but I never did. Still, very entertaining!

Eclipse by SaraMartins 2017-08-06T14:48:42Z

I see above you mention you are working on lighting some more - I think that will help a lot! I enjoyed the mood and the sound and the overall ambience of the game but actually navigating the maze was.. well a bit of a chore. I was leant right forward trying to see as best as I could and could frequently not tell which side of a wall I was etc. Still, a little more refinement and could be a good little maze game :)

The Sourcer by KabalaTrance 2017-08-06T14:26:44Z

it was a nice little clicky game after I figured out what it wanted from me :)

Star Rek by dpumford 2017-08-01T10:19:26Z

I was a little confused as to what I could do to avoid my inevitable death, like it seemed I could do no more and was just waiting for some abstract timer to be up so I could see my final score - but I think it has lots of potential would like to see it developed more! :)

Deep by tenshi42 2017-08-06T14:42:40Z

Really liked the atmosphere - definitely potential for a good thriller game here! I too had some issues figuring out what I was supposed to do and when but that is not the end of the world, sometimes figuring it out is part of the suspense. What DID bother me is when I got a game over I had no idea why, it just ended :o Did I run out of air? Did the monster get me? Did we flood? I don't mind losing but I really want to know why :D Keep on working on it though!

BATTERY BLASTER by NoytroO 2017-08-01T01:57:36Z

it took me a moment to get used to the controls (I seemed stuck on z/q/s/d) but had a bit of fun when i got used to it. I did get "turned about" a fair bit and a little lost/where to go looking for badguys and it seemed reallly hard to die - but the presentation was pretty good.

SnowStorm by Timps 2017-08-01T12:18:46Z

cute little game and good first go! massive kudos for finishing something, its hard! there were a few bugs and glitches I ran across but overall solid first attempt.

PowerGem Arena by Wizard.Exe 2017-08-09T21:28:03Z

Nice job! I played through lots of times and very much enjoyed it :) As others have said it would be nice to see a little velocity on the player rather than just stop/start and personally I felt my weapons were useless by about the half mark on the bar which made me wonder why bar was so big in first place, it would be nice if the degregation was just a **little** less severe? Weapon powerups were so random sometimes I wouldnt see any at all sometimes get 2 in level 1 XD and finally I did feel a LITTLE cheated whenever a badguy basically spawned on top of me and stole a heart piece.

Aside from those admittedly minor things it was a solid entry! enjoyed it! :D

Trap in the dark by azziliz 2017-08-01T10:10:23Z

quite nice memory game - i would of liked diagonals on the numpad though! managed to get to level 60 :)

The Kleptocracy of Rodentia by JemSmith 2017-08-01T10:28:43Z

I enjoyed this, cute little sneak'em'up! The randomness of the cat ai was a little frustrating at times as I just sat there for a lengthly amount of time waiting for them to finish moving back and forwards between the same spots and it would be nice to have some idea of what i've stolen so far but other than that i thought it was really good - simple but effective and thematic music and lovely art. Nice job!

Zzap by HS_Dave 2017-08-01T09:51:35Z

It can be very random its true, a solver method checks that a level is physically completeable but does not guarantee you have enough power to do so! It's the best we could do in 72hrs :) Certainly a lot of refinement to be done in the level generator now the time constraints have gone and I've had some sleep at last!

I forgot to include the readme.txt in the zip - i've added it in now and also pasted part of it to the game description on this page :)

Zzap by HS_Dave 2017-08-06T15:57:16Z

@flukeshot: look out for future (non-LD) releases if interested in the game, we are definitely refining the difficulty spikes and level generation! To meet the LD time constraints we had to cut corners, for example I created a level solver based on a flood fill that simply checks "is there a physical path between entrance and exit" but our current build now uses a A* based solver that not only tells us if a path exists but how expensive it is and how expensive is it to get all the items etc so we can really control that difficulty curve :)

@saramartins: truthfully the only incentive is if you care about your score! you get more points for collecting everything :) This was again due to the time constraints of LD. Future releases will have online leaderboards making your score more valuable but also we are testing a few points-to-xp based upgrade systems that would add way more value to the score.

Thank you all for the feedback so far, keep it coming! :)

When the world goes to hell, I'll be here playing Video Games. by Will Walters 2017-08-01T01:25:08Z

it was cute! however for me whenever fresh dialog was being drawn it lagged out the whole game pretty bad (ryzen1700+gtx1080!) which kinda spoiled it a little for me :(

Almost Home by willvasco 2017-08-01T01:45:48Z

This will be the last game I rate today because I found it so peaceful I *must* head to bed now! I did enjoy it, the motion was satisfying and it looked perfectly nice. The mood was peaceful for me as I said - I didn't feel any danger really I think my power would of had to be always ticking down to achieve that as it wasnt too hard to conserve momentum and keep myself charged as it is.

I'm not sure if I "won" or not, I got right up to the planet and it looked large and the screen faded to black and then the game stopped responding :( Nice little experience though!

Energy Raid by -FL- 2017-08-06T15:00:00Z

I'm a fan of schmups and bullet hells etc so was looking forward to this - the concept is neat I like recharging your ship mid level for power etc and I thought your badguys were good, the bullet patterns well designed and the weapons fun (I didnt expect that snake-like blue beam the first time it turned up!).

I think the controls could do with a little more refinement - games like these are made or broken on their controls and large portions of dev time goes into perfecting them so it's not surprising to have it less than perfect in just 72hrs of development! But its a little sluggish - I did notice that you slow down when firing which is an interesting mechanic but firing or not it just didnt seem to respond quite right and sometimes I felt I sort of slid into a bullet I expected to avoid. I think bullet curtain games need a bit more insta response to feel right :)

Good effort!

Energy Raid by -FL- 2017-08-06T15:00:59Z

I noticed a commentor said the shooting is underwhelming - I think the main reason for that feeling is I noticed alot of bullets make sounds when they hit but not when fired - a secondary sound for when they fire would help give the shooting some punch :)

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

The Pond: An Unexpected Journey by StaNov 2018-04-28T12:59:28Z

One of those games that you keep continue playing and each time you wonder why. Why am I stepping? step. What propels me forward? Step. What did I do with my life? Step. What series of decisions in my life led to the point that I was doing this with my Saturday? Step.

More seriously, it's super funny - the text is hilarious and as long as you approach this game with a sense of humour its good funny XD Welcome to the pond. *kazoo*

Cow Snake Tower Defense by concalf 2018-04-28T13:48:06Z

Really inventive mashup and plays surprisingly well! I wasn't sure what I was expecting but I like what I got. There isn't a lot I would change, I didn't hit any bad bugs and I thought the entry was really solid. I guess more levels is all we need! Good work.

Neo Montana 18XX by madjackmcmad 2018-04-24T14:40:24Z

very enjoyable! whacked the cowboy bebop OST on in the background and got right into it. Could lose a few hrs to a session of this! Would like to be able to save my character ;)

FAST CRASH by tweedle 2018-04-28T11:39:22Z

Absolutely love the style of this one - great art and sound! Super good theme :D Originally I thought the game was running bad and kind of jerky, but closing and reopening my browser fixed this so other people may want to watch out for it.

Spacebar would not progress the intro though! I had to sit through it twice which was really frustrating - or if it DOES progress then it doesnt do it quick enough I wanted to just skip through. But honestly I don't think it was doing anything.

Still, solid entry, nicely put together, good idea! Well done!

Robocalypse: Xtreme Pool Master by Devastus 2018-04-24T14:51:19Z

As above I had issues working out the force and tbh working out angles but thats just because I'm bad! I'd really like a restart button, especially whilst getting used to the game, as it is often clear the moment you've missed your shot that you are now going to die during the next spawn and just sitting there waiting for it to happen before I can play again wasn't so fun. But the idea itself I really enjoyed and would like to play more!

Retroviral by saiodin 2018-04-28T14:15:38Z

Good fun to play! looks amazing and the sound is excellent. I did find a way to "cheat" a bit - when you've hit the ball and it becomes affected by colliders you can push it with your body - so you can give it a little tap and then "walk" it around challenging obstacles without needing to keep retrying to accumulating swings.

Really fun theme with this one, super nice.

Clickdate by Krassenstein 2018-04-28T12:28:08Z

I had to stop when I realised I was working too hard to seduce a freakin' egg plant. Then I went away and rethought my life.

Good entry, good laugh! It's not always clear why something isnt doing something - for example the gym requires money but if you go there first it just seems like its broken because of no indication - but overall its pretty tight and good fun!

Unholy Holes by Alchemic 2018-04-28T09:31:28Z

Winner! you did it yay! Yay me :D Okay so I actually really enjoyed this, thought it was a neat concept! The only thing that was letting it down a little for me were the controls, over sensitive I think! Very hard to get the angle I wanted (like not because of a skill issue, but because pressing a key moves it X amount and sometimes i wanted X / 2) and the same for power. For example on the last level the two holes near your ball launcher (?) at the very bottom are seemingly impossible to put a turret in - I was aimed right at them and would slap space bar as quick as I could twice in succession and it would still over shoot every time, I had to give up on them.

What I think I would personally like is mouse controls - aim towards cursor and hold+release left click to charge a shot - would make it nice and skill based! If you wan't to be really cruel add a par for each course ;)

Good work!

Golfing Dead by FiveCyclops 2018-04-28T13:57:55Z

I found the melee combat kind of hard and inconsistent to control - in the end it seemed a better strategy to just kite the zombies off some distance and then run back to my ball for golf until they caught up again and just repeat that. But the idea is fun and the implementation impressive for the time you had! I especially liked being able to change controls and sensitivities etc, rare to see in such a short time.

Super Bass Racing by isaaclopinho 2018-04-25T23:05:42Z

We need online play! I think I will be running this one again when I have some friends over because this was a blast to trial even alone XD Good work team!

FetchQuest by radmccool 2018-04-25T22:33:18Z

instant frogger vibes - and that is no bad thing! It would be nice if each time you got an item the level itself changed in some way so it wasnt so easy to practice/perfect quickly but in the time you had I think you've done an amazing job. The platforming felt responsive and nice, not the usual clunky affair we get in these short time spans! Graphics cute and audio good - well done.

Fat Panda! by Ethereal Psyche Games 2018-04-25T22:31:28Z

very nice! reminded me of wario ware - the jumping seemed a bit.. well, jumpy samey? But it was fine over all and the mini games were perfect - would love to see more! :)

LD41 - Infiltrat3 by Quarter Up Studios 2018-04-28T10:11:37Z

Very well thought out combination, theme is super respected here and it works very well! My main gripe was the box-push collision, I kept pushing things I did not want to push just because I was a little too close to it. In the end I had to start giving cubes such wide circles to make sure I did not accidentally nudge them and one time I tried to push one cube and took two along at the same time! I do not think it would hurt the game play if pushing required pressing against the side of a cube for like half a second to give it a shove just to solve these accidental touches :)

Otherwise it was fun - but I think you are too generous with the time you have to escape the guards. I quickly learned how much time I could get away with in their sight and started disrespecting them alot, intentionally popping into their view to get somewhere quicker because I knew I had time to get out again. One possible way to combat this is have a "alert" bar that charges up faster than it decreases and have it charge whenever you are in view - get to top level and game over! Stay out of sight for a while and it goes back down. Would stop people like me abusing the system :P

Good work!

TinyWorlds by dikkop 2018-04-24T18:19:28Z

it took me a few moments to work out what was going on but thoroughly enjoyed playing when I understood it! Nice work :D +1 for browser version too.

Dungeon Drift by svntax 2018-04-28T09:55:43Z

Quite fun! I enjoyed getting in a car, finding my way blocked by mobs and baiting them out the way before drifting around them and flying past yelling "punked!" but I also found a few frustrating situations where I had 1 tile wide areas to get through with mobs inside that I could just do nothing about - no room to bait them away and no ability to barge through. Once I ended up backed into a corner that I could not get out of because of the fact the mobs are blocking and you have no attack of your own.

I think it would be a really cool future feature if your guy could learn some skills that might help with this - maybe nothing that can kill a mob because that would change the core of the game but some sort of push back skills or 1 turn stuns that have large cool downs just so you don't always feel like there was nothing you could of done and it was all RNG.

I did like it and would like to see more :D

Rhythmobots Defence by Evannex 2018-04-28T13:14:39Z

A decent entry - I love music games and I love blasting things. I think it would be better if the game was more rhythm dependent, like if you got punished more for firing off beat somehow. But in the time allotted I think you did a good job and I enjoyed my short play through :)

Stranded - LD 41 Game by Corvin 2018-04-24T15:22:54Z

Overall I liked it - there wasnt really any survival to worry about more just a walk and find the puzzle token aspect. I enjoyed doing the puzzles (I did all 10) but the puzzle music, although nice, was too short and unvaried and began to really drag on me by the 10th puzzle! still, nice entry :)

Infinite Typer by theamazingb 2018-04-25T20:31:53Z

a few times it wouldnt accept a word that was legit fine (and lowercase etc) but overall this was frustratingly fun! i kept dying, getting cross and trying again. couldnt beat 470 pts XD

Thrust Vector by pogo 2018-04-30T20:50:07Z

Really enjoyed this one - the thruster mechanics of a real time space game being paused whilst the enemy took their turn and then resuming after was both a blessing and a curse. More than once I skimmed between two ships that had moved and more than once a ship moved into my path that there was just no way I was going to avoid with my current inertia. Very good idea - obviously audio would improve this tons and hope to see it in the future! :)

OptiShot by NoNiMad 2018-04-28T11:53:36Z

I get what you're saying with "racing" but honestly, is it not just crazy golf all the way through? :D Still regardless! Much fun. I did enjoy playing - I did get hampered by a few invisible walls, esp on the expert level - but I could imagine enjoying this with some friends and a few beers! When working it was satisfying to play and beat the levels, performing a sort of skill shot felt great. Good work over all!

Version 0.80s by Vovin 2018-04-24T16:56:49Z

nicely implemented - I would like a keyboard bind for ending turn though. hitting alt, clicking end turn and then, after badguys moved, hitting alt again to resume playing when all im trying to do is move down a long corridor is a bit frustrating. I got to the thanks for playing text without being hit - the mobs just didnt seem to care about me as long as left enough ap to tuck around a corner at end of my turn? I only ever used the pistol. Did hit some bugs: game keeps starting on my left monitor rather than my main center one and no option to change it? Projectiles don't seem to go quite where the crosshair is either, esp over long distance. Had to aim slightly lower and slightly to the right to hit my targets.

still, good entry!

Dungeon Drifter by TwinGhosts 2018-04-25T21:04:02Z

good fun! took some getting used to with the arrow drift etc but when i got the skill aiming down it was actually quite satisfying :)

Make up and drive by bldr 2018-04-24T22:19:03Z

I love the idea! I found it legit impossible to control, but maybe thats the whole point XD although to be honest I tried doing make up at the start whilst still and then quickly driving off and I still crashed despite the fact I wasnt doing make up! so maybe I'm just bad XD

Zomball by n.feofentov 2018-04-25T21:10:51Z

It's a nice idea and your art looks great, if a little gruesome! But I did begin to find it quite frustrating to play. The collision did not always feel quite right with the zombies where my play would unpleasantly explode whilst I'm dodging between them but to my eye I was not touched. That became quite annoying - I would also personally like it if when you die if you are in the middle of a shot the ball released from whereever you currently had the marker so theres a chance you can at least get the points :) But honestly the worst thing for me was that basket ball sound on constant loop and not quite in time with the player - it began to really get me XD

BUT in saying all that I'm only being critical because I feel this could be really good - I think you've done a great job for the time you had and would love to see this polished out and refined a little! I think its a fun game!

Engine in Shadow by visumecadroide 2018-04-28T12:55:53Z

A stealth car? Outrageous. Love it. Concept is really appealing - graphics took me straight back to games of yore :D Mechanically the car was quite fun to control. I loved the idea of parking to hide but in reality it became much easier to just run - I think the guard cars do not punish you enough when found so you end up just disrespecting them and driving past. And enemy cars doing instant 180's at will is just rude ;) I'd like to see that go :P

Good entry though!

Twin Stick Runner by utoxin 2018-04-24T14:22:29Z

I really enjoyed it! I'd like auto fire when holding an aim direction but otherwise I would not really change anything. I'd like to see it further developed!

threeSpace by HS_Dave 2018-04-24T20:49:44Z

I definitely intend to work on this further and implement the missing features :) Both the space simulation and the match3 could use some love to make more engaging!

threeSpace by HS_Dave 2018-04-25T08:06:33Z

thanks all for the continued kind comments!

@djfariel it's definitely a bug - the game tries to prevent too many insta combos by checking tiles around a new tile - this means depending what is surrounding an area some times it reaches a situation where there is only one "good" tile spawn one after the other, at least in the order it's checking. Will definitely get that fixed :) Thanks for the clear report!

threeSpace by HS_Dave 2018-04-26T08:30:43Z

Thanks for the feedback all!

@TheMonsterFromTheDeep the restoration points you get definitely need re-scaling for sure, they are very combo reliant in this build. For all stat types (fuel/cap/etc) you restore icons_broken * combo points back - so do one break and it hardly charges but get a large combo and even the cap (which currently has a max value of 800 versus every other stat at 100!) can nearly fully fill in one go. I will be smoothing out these values :)

I was wanting to play with the "no match" tile moving mechanic a bit but fully ran out of time. I'm uncertain if I wanted to prevent moving tiles completely because that means you can get an impossible grid and I'm not sure I want everyone's game to come to an end due to bad spawn luck. I have considered it costing cap/fuel/points to make a move that doesn't match or perhaps a 25% chance of a tile moved without a match turning into a broken module tile that inhibits some aspect of your ship until you've fixed it. It is likely I will have selectable difficulty levels that handle this in different ways with perhaps the hardest indeed not allowing the move at all!

@kleinzach the match3 aspect needs a lot of love - I definitely spent too much time creating a method to generate 7 classes of star versus actually sorting it out ;) but over all I just didnt have time this jam anyway :( There is truely no animation at all on the match3 grid, its just an array and things swap around instantly with a small delay after each iteration just to make it a little more sane. There is also no visual indicator of combos although the game is tracking and rewarding them. I'd like a visual particle to zoom from broken tiles to the relevant stat bar as well as having full moving animations for the whole grid - this is something I can promise will be implemented! :)

threeSpace by HS_Dave 2018-04-30T14:04:22Z

Again thank you all! Regarding slow (esp for @Mohamed_DKD ) - I've been playing it a bit and actually this is a flat out BUG. When you jump into a system (including when you first run the game) and it generates it things get placed at a random radius around the sun - during part of the algo there is an old, hard coded number that never got replaced with the var that was later made and tweaked and its the max distance from sun - it has an extra digit in it! So, by random chance, you could end up with objects significantly far away! This is fixed in my local build.

My local build now also has vast improvements to the match3 game with several bugs fixed and new animations for swapping tiles and animated falling of tiles when other tiles break beneath them etc. I do not want any of this to unfairly mar my jam score so I will share a newer build at the end of the voting process :)

Miss Priss by jfraser314 2018-04-25T21:50:27Z

I had quite a lot of trouble getting it to start, couldnt get it running on itch - had to download it and the downloaded version would run in firefox with no sound but not run at all in chrome. I played as long as I could but it ended up crashing, just completely froze and became unresponsive :(

HOWEVER, it actually played fairly well and I enjoyed playing it. My wife is very sadly in hospital today but I really want to show her this as the theme is just her type of thing and I know she would love it. I can see what you were going for and it's just a shame you seem to be having some stability issues - I could see this being quite popular with certain groups as a polished and finished game! :)

Command Line Hero by BytingGames 2018-04-25T21:39:47Z

A very enjoyable entry, I played through to the end! I've done a few text command controlled games tonight but this has been far the best example. The music and sound effects were absolutely perfect and helped make the whole thing feel great to play. Obviously it would be nice to see the main player animated one day, but you did a great job in the time you had. The only thing I would of added is a command line style pressing up arrow cycles through previous commands - also cardinal directions (north south west east) are a classic staple of old text adventures and I found myself typing them from muscle memory of years of old games and online MUD's etc - it would be nice if you supported them! :)

Honest Dan's Trout by Honest Dan 2018-04-24T21:46:26Z

Addictive! I could feel my brain straining trying to control it all properly at once, but very well implemented. Nice audio too!

CarD^2riving by Derek Brouwer 2018-04-24T22:09:41Z

I really liked the idea of it! But I found it reallllly hard to get the angle of the car right - almost unplayably so. I ended up downloading the game just incase it wasnt running right in browser version but had same issue, I would end up at some odd angle and no combination of cards would ever make me point straight again :( But I think it could actually be quite fun with a little tweaking to keep it "fair" as it were! :)

Rhythm Overdrive by Diblow 2018-04-24T18:38:42Z

really awesome! some said red weapon was too op compared to yellow, but imo it fired too slow preferred yellow! I think I would of liked it even more if your movement was constrained to the same hex columns as the mobs and you could only move on beat - i'd also love it if mobs died on beat and played a snare or something! but really strong entry, really enjoyed, nice!

LeChaudron by Jajakeim 2018-04-28T09:44:15Z

REALLY fun. It was so satisfying to control - thwack that chicken into the side of the screen and then cut it as it rebounds over the cauldron.. nice! It was a shame there was no audio (at least in the html5 version I was playing) but still worth a high score for just how fun it was to play I think!

Fish & Ships by Jnyrr5 2018-04-28T12:49:13Z

A good laugh! Once I understood how the fish spawned a bit better I had an easier time and a lot of fun. There is something satisfying about throwing fish at things. Would perhaps in the future like to see different ships acting in different ways and otherways to advance your fisherman - but this is a great jam entry and I fully enjoyed!

Riff For Your Life by ed3187 2018-04-28T12:40:26Z

Absolutely loved this, really fun and satisfying to play! It's easy to get it wrong with rhythm games, but this felt good. More songs! :D

Storming Sands by grizeldi 2018-04-24T16:25:24Z

enjoyable! I really didnt expect the tree to halt me though I thought I could smash those down :P It would be nice to be able to upgrade your engine etc get a bit more speed! and maybe some penalty for not being near to or involved in kills would be a good idea, I didnt test it but it seemed if i concentrated on kitting out the other tanks with the money then I could just sit by the way point, let them deal with all the baddies and then be well ahead of them in the race when it was back on. Nice thou!

Dedicated User Defined Entity (D.U.D.E.) by Bros. 2018-04-28T12:07:49Z

Looked lovely, frustrating to but fun to play! It would be nice to have some lives, esp at your ability set is completely RNG and the difficulty is brutal is kinda sucky to go straight back to 1 again XD But I liked the concept and will say it kept me trying quite a few times!

Fellow Campers by alignright 2018-04-26T11:06:37Z

if you had an option to host an "open game" and when people click join it showed any open games hosted for anyone to join and someone joining played a little sound then that would of been awesome - would of happily left a tab open and waited for other testers to join my game! Sadly, I could not find a way to host the free play single player - whenever I clicked host it just made my game called {campname} and gave me no options :( this was in firefox.

Very enjoyable platformer - one of the better card driven ones played tonight! I liked the mana aspect and the design of the puzzles, very well thought out. The graphics were really cute and fitted really well - the sound never got annoying. Very well done!

Skate'n'Snipe by Jonathan Lorenz 2018-04-28T13:10:18Z

It's a really nice idea! There were some frustrating things like my skateboard getting stuck in a ramp a few times and some targets just not dying despite being directly under cursor - also it was hard to tell when I was jumping right. If this was being made into a more advanced game in the future it would be cool to do skate board tricks whilst jumping to earn style points and stuff :D But a decent effort, with some refinement could have something really fun :)

BlowScape by Fleoh 2018-04-24T15:32:34Z

really fun entry! but hard! the default controls would not be my first choice and i'd love to have a go with a gamepad - but i think i will actually be playing this one some more!

Learning with Mr. Bear by Nessa 2018-04-25T21:18:52Z

The game played better than I expected! I liked the fact that you had to find the right cube - knowing the answer is one thing but then finding the darn thing added nicely to the tension. I will say I swear I brought a 7 cube back for one answer and when I placed it the thing turned into a 6 and it failed me. Also a few times i had the block on his book and it didnt take and I had to pick it up again and move it around a bit more. But over all decent!

Soccer Fight by mic_matrix91 2018-04-28T10:20:16Z

Good first jam! the scrolling was acting a little jerky for me (windowed mode, ultra graphics settings) but over all a fun little idea that with some refinement and some comical audio could make for a really fun arcade game! Good work :)

Fatal Hangover by TSK 2018-04-25T22:46:10Z

it was fun and satisfying to play, but a little easy! I think maybe some sort of turret ammo you have to replenish could be a good idea and waves need to get more brutal :) But over all very good entry, nice graphics and good sound!

GardenTowerDefence by November 2018-04-26T11:47:00Z

I do enjoy tower defense (some of your mobs did remind me lots of crystal chronicles! that's a good thing :D) and this took me a few turns to "get it" and understand what the different pugs did but then as soon as I understood it did not take long to find a build order where I felt too powerful. I ended up with enough farms that money was no problem:

pug01.png

and then I ended up with something like:

pug02.png

which was great fun to watch - +1 for fire breathing pugs I very much enjoyed that :D But then I didn't know what else to do. I eventually filled the whole area with pugs, nothing was getting through but I could see that things were getting stronger and would *eventually* power through me and I was just sat there waiting to one day lose. Truth be told I could not figure out the sleeping dogs - I think they are supposed to block roads? But I could not make them work :(

I think it would be really cool if after a while you started getting mobs come from different roads so you had to be more careful how you spent your resources.

Graphics great - cute, work well :) Audio very good - usually in ldjams the music gets repetitive but your BGM did not annoy me at all, very good.

Over all very good, cute tower defense game that I was glad to play! well done :)

Date Night by Darby Costello 2018-04-24T15:51:09Z

Very impressed - graphics took me straight back to the spectrum! I spent ages retrying the first date trying to let it be successful without dying so I could try one of the other girls before coming back to this page and realising there is only the one and i was doing it right already XD Please more! ;)

Missing Princess by rzaba 2018-04-28T10:44:58Z

A real treat this one. I can imagine the game is not for everyone but I could of sat here playing something like this for hours. A super take on a text adventure with a little myst thrown in, really superb. I can only imagine what a super polished, super graphical version with ambiant SFX (such as waves crashing on the sea screen) and gentle music would be like. Also infinitely expandable game, you could keep releasing new books as DLC. ooo.

I would also like to vote for being able to enter a portal from above it - my literal only gripe is having to fall through the text hammering space to make sure I get in. I laughed when I reached the princess. I had, I think unintentionally, managed to pick up the feces again and still had it when I reached her. So I threw it at her.

very fun to play, had to keep going! really enjoyed this one!

Elemental Monk by Biterkid 2018-04-24T15:01:10Z

nice little game! it was frustrating with no diagonal movement sometimes but it kept me trying! a way to bring up the elemental chart in game by holding a key would be great, I had to keep scrolling down to the bottom of the page to remind myself.

Witch's Escape by cristiano.m.garcia 2018-04-29T09:14:06Z

I enjoyed your game and don't really have anything to feedback that hasn't already been said! At first I thought it WAS a rhythm game and kept trying to spell-on-beat until I realised that was not required XD It would be nice if it detected if you were pressing keyboard keys or gamepad keys and switched the spell icons to arrows if using the keyboard - the colour visual indicator makes it much easier on a gamepad because it matches the colour of the buttons - when playing on keyboard I had to keep converting a colour to an arrow which just made it that little bit harder.

There also needs to be some sort of punishment for pressing the wrong button because as someone else said atm you can just sit there pressing all the buttons really fast randomly and you'll get through an awful lot without even trying!

I liked the art and the premise and I thought the audio was pretty good too - good job!
