Don't forget to turn off networking if you don't need it. The aesthetic is very nice, love all the bright colors and straight lines! The turn based mechanic was a bit odd, but once you get the hang of it it was logical. Didn't make it past the third level though, the row of 10+ robots was a bit much for me and I got a bit impatient. Very nice looking and well playing game!
I like the level design with the purple lighting and black pieces it gives an ice feel to the game
Very nice game ! I love the retro art style. Original and well done, only downside is the music. Don't hesitate to rate our game ;) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/a-kids-nightmare
Game looks neat. I can't really play it on my laptop tho... There is a way of changing the video settings?
I thought overall this is a great game. I would make the enemies stand out a little more. Took me a second to figure out why I couldn't move or shoot when I ran out of AP's. When out of AP's and player tries to move out of the circle or shoot, I would pop up some sort of warning and flash the UI at the bottom, play a buzzer sound. Make it super obvious.
It's a really cool concept, and sticks very true to the theme! Some music and additional audio would really help to bring together the experience, and in the future I would avoid larger levels like the third one; it somewhat loses it's charm when you're just trying to walk from point A to B after all of the enemies are dead and you have to keep hitting next turn. Ace work overall!
nicely implemented - I would like a keyboard bind for ending turn though. hitting alt, clicking end turn and then, after badguys moved, hitting alt again to resume playing when all im trying to do is move down a long corridor is a bit frustrating. I got to the thanks for playing text without being hit - the mobs just didnt seem to care about me as long as left enough ap to tuck around a corner at end of my turn? I only ever used the pistol. Did hit some bugs: game keeps starting on my left monitor rather than my main center one and no option to change it? Projectiles don't seem to go quite where the crosshair is either, esp over long distance. Had to aim slightly lower and slightly to the right to hit my targets.
still, good entry!
This game made great use of turn mechanics. It is fun to manage your AP with the need to balance walking and shooting. The lighting gives life to the game's art, but it can be a little too dark at some places. The game needs more feedback when the enemies are hit and some kind of alert when the turn ends. I felt the weapons weren't balanced, with the shotgun being too strong and the pistol a necessary evil to hit enemies afar without wasting AP.
Great game! Congratulations on making it.
It's a cool game, but it doesn't perform that well on lower-end systems.
The graphics are pretty nice, though. With more polish, this could be a fun little game.
Neat. :)
It looks like good unfinished concept. Btw good job!
Finished the game. Negatives: - Last (third) level shows that there is too much walking - Crosshair seems to be unaligned. - Enemies are easy to cheese and are not challenging
On the other hand: - The game is looking good - Plays quite well
Cool, The neon lights make it clear where to go and give it a unique art style. I agree I think I'd stay in the flow more if End Turn were just a keyboard button with maybe a confirmation prompt than having to switch into menu controls.
I loke the retro feeling why playing it. The graphics are so cool. The concept are well thought. Good Job!!
