It took me a while to understand what the interface on the right was doing. Could you give us a little more instruction about what you need to do to play the game? It seemed like there was a relationship with certain crates and then the options on the right, but I couldn't figure out how to make more food.

Other than that, it's a fun little cannon game! Congrats!

Thanks for checking it out, @temmy!

So each crate has a different effect. Wood and stone ones give wood and stone, red ones explode, black ones produce smoke monsters - which take away health - and green ones have whatever is on the picture. You can click on the crafting menu in the middle right of the screen to combine resources a la Terraria/Minecraft. Some of the resources in the upper right hand corner are clickable as well. So food will fill you up, medicine heals you, and torches are placed in the level for lighting the way at night time. Torches also are used for cooking in the crafting menu, so it's good to have a lot of them! They'll burn out 15 seconds after placing.

You need to keep crafting cannon balls to shoot, and building a kiln will let you craft cooler cannons. If you run out of cannons, you can still shoot, but it'll cost you health and you won't get a trajectory indicator.

You don't have to clear a level to proceed - just blast the crates you want and try not to break the black crates. Pressing the little green runner button will go to a new area and advance time a bit, but cost food (travel works up an appetite). The idea is to survive as long as possible. Unfortunately, the game doesn't get harder at the moment, so it's pretty easy to be set for life.

Planned additions: - More level configurations - Difficulty ramp (basically just dropping more black crates) - Time-based hunger - A day counter so you can say "I got to day 5!" or whatever

This was actually pretty fun. You can't go wrong with cannon and explosions!

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the crafting system had more depth than it looked like, and unlocking new crafts feels nice. However, I very quickly had so much of everything that it completely ruined any sense of challenge.

Still, had fun for the time I played. Well done

The gameplay was fun and the crafting system had more to it than first impressions indicated.

The biggest improvement I can suggest is more information on how everything works. With a game about shooting a cannon, random messages in the corner advising how and why to craft certain thing would have been enough.

But all that being said I had fun, congratulations, you should be proud!

Hi, @ted-carter, I love your idea of game combining angrybird and minecraft. Excellent idea ;)

But when I played, I didn't understand something to what I have to do or to how works your crafting system, even after seeing your comments here. For exemple, it's impossible to understand/know before crafting it the benefits of crafting a craftable object. Btw, very handicapping bug i found, when you die and the game restarts, the controls are broken.

But, again very good idea, simple but perfect graphics for a 3D LD game. Well done.

This is a surprisingly workable concept, and I kept playing for a couple of minutes even after seemingly unlocking everything. The main things I didn't understand where under which conditions multiple blocks would break, and what exactly the different kinds of cannon balls did. Aside from that, I had some fun with this game.

The cannon balls you shoot when you have none left kind of creeped me out.

Cool concept! The shooting was really satisfying (nice sound design) and it was fun to explore the different crafting options. I don't think I ever found plants to restore my health though, and the fact that black blocks were the dangerous ones wasn't totally obvious from the gameplay itself. Would feel a bit better if there were a more obvious indicator that your resources increased, like a +1 or something in the corner. This would definitely be cool with some balance & UI tweaks. Nice work!

I like it! Cool concept, so here is a tasty fish for you: 🐟

Really cool game, well worked out BUT... in the credits you mention all sounds and graphics are from OpenGameArt.com - This means you should opt out for graphics and sounds. You can't take credit for art and sounds you haven't created. I'm sure this is just a oversight but i think it's best to opt out. Besides that, GREAT JOB !

It is a good game, although the lighting makes it a bit difficult. and when I advance a little I could not get more grass to heal me :(

ted-carter 2018-05-02 16:38

@roidz Good catch! I forgot to fill that part out!

Nice game! the concept is great, just need to work more on the little things mentioned in the comments, the game is the right direction. Nice work!
