LD38 — A Small World

Microchip IO by ping78 2017-05-04T02:46:45Z

It looks really interesting, however I can't seem to get it working. I see the UI in-game, but the main area is solid black. I tried various keys, as well as selecting a logic gate and trying to click into the main area, but nothing. I'm not sure if I'm just missing something, so I'll hold off on the scores.

Anthill Multitask by Asturk 2017-05-04T02:53:30Z

Very cool, the tutorial was really well paced. I enjoyed the frantic pace and overall gameplay, I think it was very well done.

Factions by frenchie 2017-05-04T02:38:11Z

Very polished, simple to pick up and understand. Using left click to move was a bit awkward at first, but right clicking is an unexpected control scheme for a web game.

Really enjoyed the overall look and feel.

World Building (for Beginners) by Dixonary 2017-05-04T02:44:26Z

I like the concept. I think instead of using one timer to complete everything, you could guide the player more by have one objective at a time with it's only short timer, e.g. "Build 10 Trees" -> "Construct a Township".

With the current mechanic I think you could improve things quite a bit by at least visually displaying the objectives in-game, possibly crossing them off as they're met. I had to play through a few times to remember how many buildings I needed.

Overall I think it's a cool idea, and it could be fleshed out into a cool kids game or tutorial.

Brotozoa by ruthiepee 2017-05-04T02:13:09Z

Like everyone else, I loved the music and the overall visual style. I didn't immediately understand that I couldn't convert the larger shards, once I understood that I really felt that there should be some way to at least deter or stun them, otherwise it just falls on blind luck to win.

Overall I feel like your entry has a lot of polish, it feels really smooth and refined; a quality that's often missing due to the rushed nature of the jam.

Stuck on the Surface by bionip 2017-05-05T05:35:42Z

Solid overall, simple to understand and play. I think the movement was a bit slow; when jumping or falling it felt like a gravity thing, but when moving side to side I just felt sluggish.

Planet Defense by kalabasa 2017-05-04T02:19:58Z

I enjoyed the overall style and the missile-command type gameplay; I did find it difficult to anticipate which tower I was going to be using for my next shot, especially when the nearest tower was on cool down. It looks like it's sorted by nearest, but I wasn't able to anticipate it very well.

Overall I think it's solid, feels good and the concept/gameplay is easy to understand very quickly.

Diggy McDigface by jcheatley 2017-05-04T03:34:48Z

Simple and fun, the controls felt good which surprised me, as the "jetpack" type controls tend to feel slippery to me. I think the shop should have been available without returning to the surface, I could have managed resources while I was drilling without the timer being quite as stressful.

Bee World by InaBox 2017-05-04T02:16:21Z

Cute and simple, avoiding the white bees (?) is pretty difficult since you can only move on one axis. I think gradually ramping up speed or similar could add to the hectic feeling, but at the same time it has a pretty chill vibe as is.

(480 points, I'm a terrible bee.)

Crash Cassini FOR SCIENCE by 2kah 2017-05-04T02:35:41Z

The gravity is a fun mechanic, although like others I was very confused by the thrusters at first; I used almost all of my fuel before I realized it was backwards from what I expected.

RGB by madmaw 2017-05-04T03:29:07Z

Really interesting mechanics, I enjoyed it a lot. I think the pace was a bit fast, but it was very enjoyable.

LD38 - A small world by wobbleboxx 2017-05-04T03:19:03Z

Simple to grasp, cute little game. I really like the graphics on your home screen as well as the in-game GUI.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Coffy by NickZangus 2017-08-02T21:35:43Z

Solid, well polished. I'm a sucker for match3 games, so it was an easy sell, but I dig the art style and concept.

Recapitate by superpokeunicorn 2017-08-02T16:55:29Z

Neat concept, feels good, solid graphics. I thought using the flow of time as a difficulty modifier was a really cool idea, and I will absolutely steal that at some point in my life.

Currents: Circuit Builder by MCRewind 2017-08-03T17:10:57Z

OSX here, if I run the jar allowing unsigned developers, the .jar immediately closes out. Running through command line shows that it can't find liblwjgl.dylib:

Exception in thread "OpenGL" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: Failed to locate library: liblwjgl.dylib at org.lwjgl.system.Library.loadSystem(Library.java:146)

Low Battery by MaggardJosh 2017-07-31T16:32:20Z

I really enjoyed the aesthetic/music combination, moving felt good and it was always clear what I needed to do next.

Unadexus by smbe19 2017-08-04T18:41:59Z

As others have said, a tutorial would be amazing. I understand that things like that are difficult to fit into a comp time frame, and I'm really impressed with what you were able to build during the window we had; very interesting title overall.

Emergency Evacuation by spacewarp 2017-08-02T15:25:27Z

Very interesting mechanics. It took me a few runs to get the hang of it, but the help/tutorial was very helpful. I ended up spending forever on my turns because there were so many possible moves to make at once (in a good way.)

Crystal Menace by hunttis 2017-08-04T18:56:05Z

Game itself was neat, however I had quite a few technical issues. Playing on OS X, initially all fonts were missing, being replaced with the [?] glyph, console had no 404s for the font failed, only missing .mp3s. I refreshed a few times, and it finally loaded. The cursor capturing was also a bit of a nuisance, I had to keep flipping to another app to make my cursor visible, and then flip back so I could change tabs.

As far as the game itself, I think the levels and objects were well designed, ignoring the obvious current/resource issue. I like the design of the buildings a lot, and it was easy to understand how everything worked. I think given the connectivity mechanics, it'd be useful to have an indicator of the other building's connection radius as well, particularly when you're linking the distributors up to generators; I kept missing them by one tile because I'm bad at remembering.

Solid entry overall, good job.

Star Hopper: Crank by deathray 2017-08-04T18:59:46Z

Very cool, great art style and effects. You managed to get a lot of UI done in the time given as well, it's impressive. Like others it took me a long time to get the hang of it, but I sunk a good 15 minutes building aimlessly.

Space Robot on a Space Ship by Apple Dash 2017-08-02T15:15:51Z

I'm terrible at controlling the ship, but it was certainly interesting and entertaining. I liked the art style of the ship itself as well.

Space email 4000 by Kosmo 2017-08-02T15:28:02Z

Cool concept, certainly different from what I expected. I enjoyed the humor and overall tone. Definitely took me a while to really understand what I needed to be doing, but I suppose that's kind of the point.

Quoala by Goloso Games 2017-08-04T18:44:32Z

Very cool, interesting concept. I've been playing a lot of Reigns lately, so this one stood out to me. I only played through two endings, but I enjoyed both runs.

Gradient Descent by Zelos 2017-07-31T23:26:44Z

Very interesting, loved the overall mood. I didn't understand the bar at the bottom, it would light up and then go dark seemingly at random, it wasn't tied to the orbs, I think, and seemed vaguely tied to my movement? I thought it was a timer when it start draining to black, but then it never actually emptied.

THIRST by Togis 2017-08-02T15:48:15Z

Loved the art style, interesting concept. I ended up playing this a lot longer than I intended.

e Negative by jhandsy 2017-08-02T15:20:25Z

Absolutely loved the art style and overall design, extremely well done. I found it a bit difficult in a frustrating way to time the jump attacks to hit lights within shorthop distance, but overall the controls feel really solid.

I really enjoyed the movement speed, jump weight, etc., it really lent itself well to the robot feel. I'll defiantly recommend people check this out.

Charge! by dragonxvi 2017-08-04T18:48:46Z

This is one of my favorite games so far. The graphics are great, overall vibe is solid. Really love the vision/los.

The Power Factory by Swifttech 2017-07-31T16:56:31Z

Really cool concept. I'm a huge fan of games like Factorio, so even with the limited building options I still had a lot of fun laying everything out.

Blow Out by Cristi Mihai 2017-08-02T15:58:47Z

To be honest, I expected more Redbull games, thank you for not leaving my disappointed.

Rogue AI by jbasinger 2017-07-31T16:53:28Z

Like others, I found the graphics to be a bit "Small", although playing on a non-retina screen helped. I also had some difficulty understanding how the AoE worked, I kept shooting my freed robots. Maybe a visual indicator/color change would help indicate if the robot was friendly or not?

Fading Points by SMILEY_4_ 2017-07-31T16:35:39Z

I liked the minimal style quite a bit. Would make a solid casual mobile game.

Magic Power by Egor Piskunov 2017-08-01T21:49:00Z

Fun, plays smoothly. I think adding impact effects (color flash/-HP indicators) would help a lot, sometimes I wasn't sure if I was actually hitting the dark enemies. I actually ran away from them initially because I thought they were invincible.

I think it's pretty cool how large you're able to share up your main spell, it made me laugh the first time.

Proto472 by uzyfeo 2017-08-02T15:46:06Z

I died a few times before I realized the arrow keys were the movement buttons, but other than that it's obviously easy to pick up and play. I think the difficulty ramp up was well balanced, I kept dying around the 700m range.

Automated Explorer by Aircraft Terrier 2017-07-31T16:43:04Z

Interesting concept, I enjoyed it quite a bit. I had some difficulty running it in my VM at first, it kept crashing at boot.

Powerless Miner by MajamiLTU 2017-07-31T16:59:39Z

As others have said, very well put together. I think your level were designed very well, I was able to plan my moves out before executing, and understand what I needed to do; I also dug the art style.

The Breach by Vlad Chechyotkin 2017-08-02T15:39:39Z

I'm pretty bad at it, but but I really dig the aesthetic and the corpse mechanic, very cool.

Alone on Mars by Konio Softworks 2017-08-02T15:31:15Z

Really cool art style and atmosphere. Gameplay was simple to understand, but I think having some tooltips or similar to indicate what things "are" would go a long way. I wasn't really sure what someone would be once I powered it up from the scrap heap.

Alone in the night by Rakowu 2017-08-02T15:44:21Z

Interesting, I liked the light mechanics. I think it would help if enemies also had health bars, I didn't have a concept for how much damage I was actually doing relative to their HP pool. I also think that when you take damage, it should be a number as well to keep it consistent.

Good job overall, best hamster wrangling game I've seen in a long time.

Cities by litill 2017-08-02T15:54:42Z

Cool atmosphere, a bit difficult. I had some difficulty activating the lights sometimes, it felt like it wasn't registering my presses. I think this may have been a side effect of my virtualization environment however, sometimes it drops input.

Power Tycoon by oparisy 2017-08-04T18:24:08Z

Took me a bit to get the hang of it, but it was a pretty cool concept. Losing a day is tough, I think it's good that you didn't spread yourself too thin and seemingly focused on what you had.

Like others, I think having unique colors at the very least for the buildings would help.

LD42 — Running out of space

Spaceless Space by Maffew 2018-08-13T23:49:09Z

Solid overall, liked the crushing walls mechanic. I noticed a slight issue where using a bomb while ghosted prevented the bomb from destroying any of the asteroids.
