I got stuck on level 12. Great polish and clear visual feedback on moves.

kamikaziuk 2017-07-31 07:11

I really enjoyed it. The mechanics are very simple but fun to master. Sound and music fits very well aswell. Good job.

dankypants 2017-07-31 16:25

Great game! I like how mechanics are explained through level design.

brandon-diaz 2017-07-31 16:32

I really enjoyed the aesthetic/music combination, moving felt good and it was always clear what I needed to do next.

igorsgames 2017-07-31 22:05

Elegant game, liked it! 18th level is a tough one! And the music IMHO is not the best style for a puzzle game. Also sometimes controls stop working after level restart.

fedor 2017-08-01 20:22

Nice entry, I really like puzzle games. There is a bug after restart and controls stop working. Great graphic and music. Well done!!

eggshelldog 2017-08-03 01:31

I beat this game! It's wonderful! I love the level design! The difficulties is going on level and there is always some tutorial level to let you learn how to beat the pattern! I love the last level, it let you vent! You can stand right there and quickly smash all those enemy that annoying you for 19 level! :smiling_imp::smiling_imp:

Also, I love the music! It's amazing that you can finish the music and 20 level in 48hrs!

However, as @fedor said, sometime I can't move after killed by alien, but I can go back to menu and choose that level again to fix it.

dob 2017-08-03 04:58

Cool puzzles, nice graphics, engaging sound and music. The game did get frozen up once on level 16 after dying a lot. You let us pick starting level, which is great, so no big deal. I did get through all 20. Very nice work.

justinooncx 2017-08-03 16:49

A very polished title! Given the time constraints I have, I couldn't finish all 20 levels, but I'd like to go back and explore it to its fullest once I have time~ The puzzles were very well designed, and with quite a variety of different threats that were introduced properly! Art and sounds were simple, but they definitely complement each other quite well! Overall, a fun puzzle game, well done!

maggardjosh 2017-08-03 20:33

@hfitzwater @kamikaziuk @brandon-diaz Thanks! Glad you all enjoyed the game!

@dankypants Yes! Thank you that means a lot, spent a decent amount of time on level design

@igorsgames Yeah I wasn't 100% satisfied with how the music fit into the game. Appreciate the feedback!

@fedor Appreciate it! Yeah that bug is being very elusive.

@goldranger Haha Thanks for the kind words, means a lot! Glad you enjoyed it!

@dob Yeah, decided to allow free level select. I'm glad I did because otherwise this bug would have been much more frustrating to players. Thanks for playing!

@justinooncx Thank you! Appreciate the feedback and glad you liked it!

ganbaregameskyle 2017-08-04 15:44

Tight puzzle gameplay, nicely presented.

yawoada 2017-08-04 17:30

Really nice difficulty curve that teaches the player everything they'll need for every new level. Fits the theme really well and is surprisingly polished given the time constraints.

maggardjosh 2017-08-06 16:47

@ganbaregameskyle @yawoada Thank you!

junber 2017-08-06 20:38

Cool game. The amount+quality of the levels is quite impressive for a 48h game and I think they managed to explore all the mechanics present thoroughly. The sprites are really cute and the visual effects are numerous and look good. My controls a lot stopped working after dying a lot in level 18 until I reselected the level.

godot35 2017-08-06 20:49

The game is like Nitrome's Turnament with a nice twist. The graphics and audio are good as well. My only problem with the game is that the design of the 2-turn enemy looks a bit odd and is not completely centered on the space that it occupies.

Great work!

lereveur 2017-08-06 21:13

Neat puzzle game, with simple mechanics and cute characters. I like it, it was fun to play, thank you for this game, and good job!

kiirohanabi 2017-08-06 21:17

Great game! The intruders that move every two turn give to the level design a lot of freedom and more challenge. I didn't get frustrated and finally finished the game in about 10 minutes. The music and graphics are really good too! I really enjoyed playing it!

wabble 2017-08-07 00:29

Pretty cool fun game!

Simple mechanics simple design but very enjoyable!

Beat all 20 levels. I got stuck for a bit on lvl 18 tho ^^. If you add a bunch more levels and make an android app out of it, I would definetely install it. Best game I've seen so far

terracottafrog 2017-08-07 00:39

Pretty fun puzzle game!

I love the art, very nice aesthetic, especially with the unique vertical aspect ratio.

The one thing was a bug I experienced where around every 7th restart of a level I would be unable to move. Going back into the level select screen fixes that. It got pretty annoying in the later levels.

Overall great work!

svntax 2017-08-07 00:46

Pretty fun puzzle game. The way the levels were designed to introduce each new mechanic was well made. I also had the bug where the controls stopped working after some restarts, though.

estebe 2017-08-07 19:00

Good and inventive puzzle game! Really, I'm always amazed how one can come up with such mechanics. I'm not good in thinking up stuff like that. The game feels complete too! Graphics are consistent, fitting audio and music. On top of that you've made 20 levels! And a superb tutorial that teaches the mechanics of the game, even when you don't have accompanying text. I enjoyed playing this game to the end.

maggardjosh 2017-08-08 05:11

@junber Thank you!

@godot35 Hey Rust Bucket is one of my favorite Nitrome games! So this takes a lot from that, glad that it comes across. Yeah I agree, I should have either centered the enemy or redesigned it. Thanks for the feedback!

@lereveur Thanks for playing!

@kiirohanabi So glad to hear, I tried to make sure nothing was too frustrating while still providing a challenge. Thanks for playing!

@wabble Level 18 is definitely the hardest one in my opinion, given more time I would have reordered the levels and 18 would be the last one. Really appreciate the kind words!

@terracottafrog Thank you! Yeah that bug was pretty annoying and only happened if you killed certain enemies in certain situations, or if you tried to move while dying. It's been fixed. Thanks for playing!

@svntax Thank you! Spent quite a bit of time on level design so that's nice to hear

@estebe Thank you so much! Really when it comes to thinking up mechanics, I borrow a lot from different games I've played. This one like @godot35 had noticed takes a lot from Rust Bucket (which is a remake of Turnament) both great games that you should check out if you liked this one! Thank you for playing!

Thanks everyone for the kind words and feedback! The bug everyone was experiencing where controls stopped working should be fixed in the latest version.

agecaf 2017-08-08 10:38

Awesome puzzle game! The puzzles are quite well designed, and the overall game is polished enough to make the game work seamlessly. The simple art is very nice, but the way it is animated makes it shine. Great SFX which combine nicely with the music.

mars 2017-08-08 13:09

Awesome game, I liked it a lot! The puzzles got difficult after level 15, but I made it in the end. Very well designed puzzles, the way they gradually got harder and introduced new concepts was very well thought out. The art and the music were good too, it properly captured the style of the 1980's 8-bit era.

The little particle effects and the UI also served to make the game feel very complete. A lot of LD jam games feel like prototypes, but yours felt like a finished game, and that's a huge plus. Making this on your own in 48 hours is impressive, great entry!

legalsoul 2017-08-08 13:20

Interesting mechanics! I'm not really into puzzle games but this one was a lot of fun!

thaaks 2017-08-08 14:35

Wonderful puzzle game! Cute minimal graphics, nice audio, good game mechanism and interesting puzzles! Easily one of my favorite entries! Looks like it would also make a fine mobile game ;-) Superb work, well done!

2017-08-09 19:14

This is the kind of puzzle game I find most approachable. It's less about trying to figure out a specific set of logic and more about deciding how YOU as a player can move around and lure enemies into a trap. So it almost becomes a play your own way sort of puzzle game (though I concede that it wouldn't be hard to make a load of levels that encourage you to lure enemies in one or two specific patterns).

I think the only thing I would have liked would be some kind of boss level. Either with a large enemy that you had to lure to it's death, or maybe just a larger level that had a very specific puzzle feel. Then once you complete it you move on to the next chapter with new enemies. Though that was a minor want, the rest of the game felt really solid and I could easily see you expanding upon this concept into a larger game. As the Graphics, Sound, and controls were on point.

So far one my favorite. The funny thing is that we almost went this route with out game. I had a lot of fun playing it and love how simple it is to understand but it gets tricky and forces you to think keeping it fresh. Thank you very much for this enjoyable experience. :D

drums 2017-08-10 04:13

This was amazing! I had so much fun playing all 20 levels. Probably my favorite game so far. The level design was so good. Each level had a certain way to beat it and got harder. Keep on doing what you're doing!

2017-08-11 13:21

Nice graphics, polished game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_RV8hzvGH4

remco 2017-08-12 06:08

Attention to detail just makes this one  Now I actually liked the music, but there is an option to turn it off. There are things like a level selection-screen with stars, little animations to support the sound-effects, the way the level slides into place... In all this is just a great example of a minimal game-design polished until it shines.

gagapete 2017-08-16 21:04

A great little puzzle game. I finished it in around 20 minutes. Level 15 was quite difficult. The game was hard but never felt unfair. The amount of levels is great for a game made in 48 hours but I'd love to see more.

levidsmith 2017-08-20 08:15

Solid puzzle game. I liked the simplicity and pace of the game. I managed to complete all 20 levels, but level 15 had me stumped for a while. I think this game would be great with some additional enemy types and maybe some additional game mechanics. Maybe add in a best time score to make players complete the levels as quickly as possible.

ellian 2017-08-20 22:54

Hey Josh! Very classic gameplay for a puzzle game, but amazing level of polish in such a short time, and great level design. Awesome work here, congrats!
