Wonderful little gem! Graphics, sound and control are just great! Also the puzzle design and the increasing features of the fish. Very well done!
Great gameplay, cool graphics, sfx and music! Hats off!
Very nice game! Nothing much to criticize. Must give it another go now ;-)
Great mood and very polished presentation (easing stamina and air when dying and for the controls information).
I sucked a lot at it - seems the waves were too tiny for me to understand when and how to ride them ;-)
Graphics and audio support the mood very well.
Marvelous! I love your graphics style. I have no idea how you do that but graphics wise I love all your games - do you give pixel art lessons? ;-)
The game is fun and the sound effects are fitting the game.
Background music would have been awesome but I'm already mesmerized by what you achieved already in these 48 hours! Hats off!
Too difficult for me and too annoying with the single shot.
Would love to see more levels...
Nice game! I liked the mole graphics and the cut scene (have only seen the first one, didn't find the rose). Music loop is nice but too short and get's annoying after a while...
The bullets should be bigger.
Nice. The music was cool. The game is fun but could use some more different game play elements. Clicking the mouse so many times to drill a yellow stone became tiring pretty soon.
But I think if you elaborate a bit on it you have a very good game!
Good colors and graphics - they create a wonderful mood.
I would have loved a bit more different shapes for the corals/spikes but that's a minor issue.
Wonderful game! Being a fan of the old Durrell classic "Scuba Dive" for the ZX Spectrum this little gem brings back lots of fond memories for me :-) Thanks for that alone!
The controls are great, the combination of air and pressure are increasing the difficulty.
I would have loved a bit more cave like underwater scenery instead of "platforms" and maybe different treasure types (pearls, dublons, goblets, etc.). Also sharks, octopusses, sharp corals and other obstacles would have been nice ;-)
Well done and you just made my day with your game!
Cool game! Although I suck at bullet hell shooters there's a lot of fun in your game!
The ship editor is cool and the ingame music is extremely well done!
Nice game! Somewhat reminded me of "Binding of Isaac" and some Vlambeer games. Very polished and fun to play!
I could not beat the bullet hell end boss but the chicken and shooting eyes were cool! Some background music would have been cool but it's still a very good game!
Very good game with a lot of stuff to do! Has potential for a bigger game ;-)
A bit too short and I was obviously too slow - no treasure :-(
The graphics are great! The music and sfx fit the game well.
Somehow I think you should try to get rid of the 'Z' key - why not use cursor key up or down instead of 'Z'? Seems obsolete to me.
Nice little game. Controlling was a bit complicated (first level) but then I got it. Didn't solve the switch puzzle yet.
Woah, what an experience! I found the game very depressing but it is a perfect fit for the theme and the game idea itself.
The graphics and sound are minimalistic but fit well again.
It takes a bit too long to get rescued imho.
But a good interpretation of the theme with a new, innovative game idea. Well done!
Regarding the source download: In GameMaker:Studio open the File menu and choose "Export Project". That will create a .gmz file that anyone can import into GameMaker:Studio. The .gmz file will contain all required resources of your game. Hope that helps.
A bit too difficult. The bullets are too small, I was dead several times before I realized I was shot.
The already mentioned mini map is a good suggestion you might want to add.
I missed some sound. Different obstacles would have helped too. But still a solid little game for those 10 hours! Good job!
Beautiful game! The music and sound improved the mood a lot! The graphics have a nice style, glow a bit and also fit the darkness of the sea!
I loved the bubbles of the diver and their movement - wonderful.
Placement of bubbles and jellyfish seems to be pure random so there are sometimes unpassable situations.
Nevertheless it's a great game that I love to play! Very good job!
Nice little game, pretty similar ingredients like my game: mole, rats, worms.
Pressing Space to dig is annoying. Could be a bit faster. The water physics is a nice little gimmick. I wanted to have that in my game too but dropped it being too complicated ;-)
As already mentioned a goal for the game would increase motivation of the player.
@Dining Philosopher: The behavior of the boot is pretty simple: if your mole stays on an "air hole" for more than a second the boot comes down. And second rule: if you reuse an "air hole" you will be stomped immediately. The rats are dumb, I know. But it was already 4 pm on Sunday and I didn't have enough time left to make them smarter. I am thinking about adding some AI / A* path finding later on.
Nice game. The controls are a bit irritating because the driller shakes so much on it's own.
The ideas with gems, lava, water, health packs are really good. The music is also well cosen.
Nice innovative idea!
Wonderful simple game with great graphics and fitting sounds. Even the minimal background music loop fits the game.
I loved the collision effects. Only tiny thing to criticize is that it doesn't fit the theme this well.
Controlling and switching the nozzles is too complicated. The effect of my nozzle on the fire is not very obvious.
I like the idea of this game, it has potential.
Very good game idea for the theme. It would be better to make it more obvious how far you are moving each step. Memorizing the level is already hard enough.
More levels and more hazards would be nice for a future version and improved graphics too ;-)
Good job, overall!
I liked the parallax scrolling and the player, rock and bat graphics.
The controls are not intuitive, WASD would have been easier for me.
I think the level is too big and I didn't know if there is another one, where to find all the gems and how many are remaining to collect.
The jetpack was fun and I think if you finetune the game a bit it will be a lot of fun!
Very nice game! It was not completely obvious how much time you have until the level ends. Two dive phases?
The graphics are nice, although the square tiles could certainly be improved. The collision is an issue as already mentioned. The audio fits the game very well, also the story was a nice addition.
This could well be extended with fish, jellyfish, squids and maybe different kind of treasures.
I had fun playing this game!
Nice little game! A bit too difficult for me on the dark room with the bats. Seemed I couldn't shoot them at all.
Jumping via "Z" and shooting with "X" is difficult on a german keyboard because "Z" and "Y" are swapped on german keyboards compared to US keyboards.
Otherwise quite fun!
Is there a treasure? Is there a reason to go back upwards again?
I found it strange to "receive" air when staying in sync with the swimming movement. The current amount of air was irritating because the "air-o-meter" shrank from both directions...a clearer display would have been more helpful.
Still a good game with potential!
I liked the isometric 2.5D look and also the graphics style a lot.
The control mechanism only using the mouse felt awkward.
Pressing the "End" button could have been removed IMHO. And cursor key movement would have been nice. I think that's what I would improve. Also sound, some nice music would have been good (I'm saying - my entry also lacks music...).
In the second level the amount of monsters increased dramatically when I didn't make it to the door...
A nice game!
Gameplay was too simple for me and too repetitive.
I liked the graphics for the girl and the anvil.
The background music wasn't bad but the loop itself was a bit too short.
Great game idea to use the player's voice as a weapon! It was fun to make noises into my microphone and see the ball move and my "weapon" animated!
The graphics style was simple but effective. A bit more variety to the levels or some other obstacles and it would have been even more fun!
Most innovative idea I've played for this LD!
Player movement and control is too slow. Graphics look good and the sound and music fit the game well.
Wonderful idea to craft weapons using match-3 collected items! It took a few seconds until I got the temperature thing but then I was hooked!
The music got a bit boring after a while and the graphics could be bigger and the "line drawing" response a bit faster but that's just minor issues.
Great entry!
Beautiful little game! Large map, nice pixel art, great background music, good sound effects, screen shake, what more to ask for?
One of the best entries I've played so far. I missed some hint system on this huge map - didn't know where to go after I found the scuba gear...
Thanks for pointing me here after rating my game!
Great little game! I love your minimal pixel art style. The hug idea is also wonderful and well done with the "hug circle" and the hearts. Also nice powerup ideas. The minimal sound effects fit the game well and the title screen is beautiful too.
Impressive entry and great effort for 48 hours!
The game idea is nice! The player starting place was not good - too often fell down on the left and had to restart...
Sound would have been great and some goal for the game.
But I think you could pretty fast fix those minor issues and make a fun game out of it - well done!
Nice game although controls are a bit complicated. Graphics, sound and music are well done, so are the particles and graphics effects.
Controls could be improved/simplified.
Well done! Luckily we don't have a micro wave and our oven is a pacifist ;-)
Okay, seems like you created a little gem again!
Give us noobs a chance, please ;-)
Wonderful entry, I liked everything and played it with a constant smile on my face! Great idea with the light, nice sounds and background music and I love your minimal graphic style! Hats off, Sir!
Nice idea, though bare hands is not a very unconventional weapon - maybe except against zombies ;-)
I found it hard to figure out when I could hit a zombie - sometimes I hit one a bit away from me and sometimes they stood next to me, ripped off my health and I couldn't hit them...
Graphics could have been a bit better, music was nice.
The idea with the scientist in his hut in the woods is also good.
Nice game! I liked the idea of the reflection shield but I hated the way to steer it (by moving the robot left and right) :-)
The game difficulty increases too fast IMHO or I'm just too bad at bullet hell shooter games?!
The graphics were okay and the bg music loop was well done - it did fit the game!
I had fun playing your game although I never lasted longer than a few seconds...
Great entry! Music great, graphics great, sound effects great, idea great!
A wonderful, funny little game - not very much to critize at all!
I liked the graphics and the underwater scenario. Also the sound fitted very well.
Controls were confusing. I think the method left/right/accelerate/decelerate would be better for a swimming game.
I completely failed to kill an enemy - I think you have to reflect their bullets?
Anyway, the mood was good and the game does fit the theme. Some tweaks and it'll be way more fun!
Nice one!
The music was good but the gameplay got boring fast. Graphics were too abstract for zombies and player. Movement of player is too slow.
I liked the camera and the rotating street - gave some helicopter view.
The "HUD" for health and heat of flame thrower could be more visual.
Add a bit more polish, different enemies and more adrenalin and it will be much more fun!
I think you missed the theme IMHO cause every zombie game I know offers flame throwers...
Controls were complicated. Picking up junk wasn't so obvious. Music was good. Graphics were okay, a bit more colors would have been nice (too gray).
Did'nt have enough junk cause hitting a robot didn't always break one to create more junk.
I like the idea though and I think you can easily improve this game a lot!
Nice mechanic for quite some brain teasing. Sound would have been nice. Graphics are minimal but consistent. Polish it and consider a mobile version ;-)
I enjoyed playing your game a lot! Real fun and it felt pretty complete. Sound and music were well done, the pixel graphics too. As already mentioned text boxes should react on mouse click too, not just Enter.
Great entry!
Cool game! Great idea with the hair dryer :-)
Graphics are lo-res but well done, music is fitting for your game - nice work.
Controls, especially jumping at edges of platforms, are a bit tricky and I got stuck one time into a wall after dying and couldn't continue. Fun jam entry!
The music is soo cool and brings so much more atmosphere to the game! Well chosen! The gameplay is fun and although control of the ball is tricky it's a lot of fun to destroy buildings and trees! Wonderful jam entry!
Wonderful game! Graphics, sound, gameplay, humor and fun - all in this beeloved game! Never beefore have I played such a funny top down shooter - beeautifully done!
I will definitely look at your source code and bee wondering how you did all this!
Great work - unfortunately I couldn't follow your stream cause I was too beesy finishing my own game ;-)
The graphics are cool although a bit dark overall.
Controls are tricky - some target mechanism for the fire extinguisher would be cool.
Even better if the extinguisher could also be used to kill aliens. Additional conflict -> fight fire or aliens!
Great competition entry, you should continue working on it! It has lots of potential!
The idea is nice and wonderful meat, eh, mean was what I wanted to say ;-)
The game play is a bit slow/sloppy but I think you can easily improve this. Improve the graphics a bit more, increase the speed and it'll be way more fun to kick some ass with other's legs!
Nice pixel art and nice game idea! Enemy carrot - exactly :-)
The beeps were sometimes annoying - better sounds would have given more atmosphere.
I didn't quite understand why I got money and how many humans I could dare to shoot and when I've got more humans and why!? A little better explanation would have been helpful. Overall a fun game that needs a bit more content - and better sound effects ;-)
Well done and I had fun playing it!
Does not work. Window opens but stays empty. Sorry.
The effects are well done (torches, lighting), you have background music (I assume generated with Otomata) which fits the theme.
The graphics style is consistent and you have a lot of graphics (huts, castle, shops) which is pretty cool for 48 hours.
Still I think the gameplay could have used some more speed.
When enemies touch you you'll die pretty fast. Jump height isn't too big, speed of the player is too slow. You can only attack enemies from a ledge, otherwise you'll die too soon. It would be cool to jump across enemies to attack them from behind. Upgrades for weapon would be nice too.
But don't take my complains too serious - it's a very nice game overall and well done for the compo time frame!
Wonderful pixel graphics and in an isometri style. Just beautiful. Although I missed the "action" a bit it was pretty peaceful to just water the ground and see everthing grow. So full score regarding Mood ;-)
Background music fitted the game very well.
Thanks for this little recreation game!
Great game! It's fun to play, the graphics are well done, the sound is simple but fits the theme. It's motivating to figure out how to kill the enemies using the different seeds.
My favorite enemy is the moving eye - it just looks great with it's seesaw movement! Wonderful entry!
Wonderful visuals! The game is fun to play but it's not sooo obvious why you win or lose at the end. Catching the bullets isn't this easy and given the "floating style" of movement it's tricky to get the bullets you need.
Overall a well done game!
Wonderful game! I love the graphics and the background music! The sound effects (wind, bats) are also very good.
Nice interpretation of a well known mechanic and fun to play!
Very well done!
Nice pixel art - really loved that.
Game play wise it's pretty random where the fire falls down and destroys something. Can also lead to dead end situations.
Weapons are pretty conventional I'd say. But the overall mood of the game (war theme, music, helplessness of the kid) is pretty good.
Music, sounds and graphics fit nicely together. I didn't get the game at all but it was graphically pleasing and fun to watch the blocks move or attract each other.
But what am I supposed to do in this game? Who is to destroy? The red robot? And how? Getting blocks collide with him? Puzzled but entertained ;-)
Although it's not a game I had some fun generating weapons to kill most of the things I could come up with :-)
Nice name generator and nice idea with the weapon shop on top of it.
Loved the graphics and the game play. Although not that unconventional weapons the game is fun and entertaining. The sound effects are good. I also liked the builtin tutorial start levels - very helpful.
Nice jam entry!
Wow - what a game! Great idea, wonderful graphics, nice music loop, parallax background, particles!
Only annoying thing was controls on keyboard. Jump/Fire were terribly swapped for me. Being a long time Spelunky player I constantly pressed the wrong key - drove me nearly mad ;-)
But anyway, this is a great LD entry and very well done!
I loved the low level pixel style - very nice. Music was okay, kept the pressure up ;-) Was a bit annoying but somehow fit the theme. The color changing was also a nice idea and the gameplay itself too (finishing rows to bomb aliens).
I found the game speed going a bit too early too fast - was still trying to get used of the controls.
Nice game overall.
Cool idea for the theme! Nice mechanics and great music!
The game's pretty hard, I only managed to destroy 6 asteroids...
I liked that you moved the gameplay mechanics over to the menu - nice fit.
I would suggest to make the planets a bit bigger, maybe also use their moons as rotating colliders. Maybe also show their orbit lines? The asteroids speed should not increase so fast. Make it easier for starters ;-)
Some tweaks and it's a very good game.
Full score from me for this game! Great game mechanics, nice theme implementation, cute graphics, good sound and a wonderful little sound loop! I would love to see this game improved! Great job! One idea: a minimap to find enemies and to get some overview when a level is finished.
Nice game you have here and I see the similarities to my entry ;-) I love your graphics and the visual effects. Sound is also very well done and you even managed to create some music - well done! A very good entry and I enjoyed playing it! Well done!
Visuals and sound are nice. But I found the jumping and timing to be unforgiving. Managed to get the second light bulb but then I was stuck. Seems my little guy can't jump two blocks up. There were also some glitches where my figure was 1 block too high in the air and then suddenly fell down. Also I missed the theme - where is the power running down anywhere? Did I miss that? The mood of the game is good, so overall a good entry. Just needs some more polish.
I liked the idea! Controls and visual feedback are fine. I too had the problem to recognize doors as doors and separate them from lightened walls. But that should be easy to fix. Procedurally generated maps would be cool and some way to have an idea where to search. Maybe some kind of radar or "reactor scanner"? You should add some sound effects (crawling aliens, tech bleeps and moving sound for your robot) and some minimal eerie music ;-) Overall that's a nice game you made!
I think the game idea itself is a nice one but honestly I didn't understand how to play. But I love how the game is presented and with some better introduction this could become a cool game! Your minimal low res graphics style is nice - keep it! Some sound would have been nice. Overall an interesting game which I would love to play again with better instructions! Well done!
@Cynical-monkey: No, I didn't watch any stream. I'm just an old fart who remembered some old game he played on his Palmpilot 20 years ago ;-) The levels are procedurally generated. And I only wanted time be the critical factor, so time reduces the remaining energy every second. When you connect power plants, less energy is reduced per second. But with increasing levels the remaining time gets shorter and the required energy per second increases. And the later plants like solar cells and modern wind mills generate more energy so you should connect them first. Oh, and I will give your game a run of course ;-)
@gilborn: Thanks, highly appreciated!
Hi Jupiter, thanks for playing my game!
@thirrash: yes, you're right. I added rotating cables on the power plants pretty late and would have to change graphics once more... But I will certainly fix that in an update ;-)
At all: thanks for your positive feedback!
Thanks for the feedback so far!
@jnkrambrich and @mathiouza: Yup, sound effects are not the best ones and music could add a lot to the game. Those are on top of my list for improvements.
@elgregos: sorry for the bug - never ran into it but will look if I find something. The highlighting idea is good, will also add this to the list!
Once more thanks for the valuable feedback - I'm planning to create an enhanced version. @huvaakoodia: Yeah, also my son voted for additional powerlines to confuse the player ;-) For ramping up the challenge I thought about adding tornadoes or earth quakes to scramble up some more powerlines during the game. Any ideas for additional hazards? Maybe powerdowns of some plants? But then the player should have a way to repair them? Again: thanks for all your feedback!
Nice little platformer that fit the theme really well. The music and sound are good on the first play ;-) The difficulty is pretty good, at least it got me motivated to play several times to progress a little bit on each try. I liked the graphics. Overall a really fun platformer, well done!
Wonderful puzzle game! Cute minimal graphics, nice audio, good game mechanism and interesting puzzles! Easily one of my favorite entries! Looks like it would also make a fine mobile game ;-) Superb work, well done!
Great entry! Beautiful graphics, great sound and music, nice gameplay! Although I'm not good at RTS games, I had quite some fun with your game! As already mentioned the mothership was a bit too fast for me - or at least a way to stop it for a while would have been cool. Nevertheless an impresssive entry!
Great idea with the overall setting of a space crash, the drones mechanism and the camera to view. Only thing I missed was some kind of minimap which would have helped a bit more discovering the parts. Regarding the audio: background desert wind and sound effects were also spot on. Amazing what you achieved in so little time Shaun, very well done! And now I need to have a look at the source code ;-)
Never mind the minimap...I just found the height controls...reading helps...
Nice compo entry! Although lacking sound & music the game has a neat idea, fits the theme very well, has humor and not too bad graphics. I would work a bit on the UI (mouse for buttons, space and direction keys...maybe avoid the mouse or do everything with the mouse?) but that looks like a good start for a much better game later! Well done for your first jam entry!
Nice little game! I liked the game idea and mechanics, also the graphics and the audio. Controls were a bit tricky, especially entering or leaving ladders. Once the game also got stuck because some enemy died on a ladder, I couldn't pass anymore and no one else could and some person with an exclamation mark was still alive and couldn't get shot... Would be great if the game had more and later on complex ships with different tasks to do sabotage (finding/stealing different keys, solving and entering codes, get access to certain ship areas, prepare landing area for your team, organize and deposit weapons for them, etc.). Would also be cool to have a procedurally generated ship that gets more complex after a successful run. Money to steal for powerups, etc. Jeez, so many ideas pop up in my brain - seems you got a great idea here ;-) Well done and I had fun playing it several times!
Great game! For a compo entry it's astounding how good your graphics and audio are! Also a very neat idea :-) One of my favorites currently - very well done!
Wonderful underwater atmosphere! Everything (theme, graphics, audio) are great - except controls ;-) They ruined the gameplay for me. But the rest is really amazing for a compo entry! Great stuff!
I liked the graphics and the audio, those are really good and you delivered a wonderful mood! Gameplay wise it's lacking but you already heard that. Add more possibilities and mechanics to the game - you got a good base to start from. Still a good job!
Wow! Great graphics and audio, cool charging mechanics, what's not to like in this game? Great entry!
It took me a bit to get into the game but I liked the overall appearance of it! The game idea itself is pretty good, but I'm not sure what happens when you built all modules. Does the game end then? Is there some more to do afterwards? UI could be hugely improved as others already mentioned (ESC to go back, information about what resources do I have, maybe some hint what advantage each module gives to the player, etc.). Your first screenshot explaining the features of the module definitely has to go to the info screen of your game.
But anyway it is a fun game, matching the theme and presenting the tense feeling of losing energy really well. Well done!
What a great puzzle game and a new mechanic idea (at least for me)! I love the art style and the graphics too. The background music was okay but a bit annoying after a while. The sound effects were good. Didn't make it to the end but had a lot of fun trying to get there ;-) I didn't really get the feeling of power running down...
But nevertheless this is a really well done game, congrats!
Wonderful little game! Art style is beautiful, the shaking head on his shoulders gives so much atmosphere, color choice is also great - that's what I call a dark place! The minimal sounds are on spot and increase the creepy atmosphere! Well done! Full points from me!
I really liked your game! The idea to put Odysseus into space was fun ;-) Graphics and UI could be improved but that's minor issues for an improved release ;-) The mix between space travel, mining and quiz was also a nice idea although I got only 3 different riddles? The travel through space should be dependent on the distance between planets - if two planets are 128 units away make the travel last 128 seconds... The only thing that irritated me on the first go was the displayed route - on my second go I ignored that and clicked on the planet that was reachable and led me closer to home ;-) Overall a very nice entry for a compo game! Well done!
The graphics style is fantastic and the background music and dying sound as well. Unfortunately the jump sound ruined everything :-( The game idea is very good and fits the theme really well. I found the first level a bit too difficult and the jumping unforgiving... Smarter wall jumps & double jumps would have helped. Usage of the sword didn't do it for me - when I collide with an obstacle I loose one life, when I destroy it with the sword I loose one life...that could be improved game mechanics wise. Overall a very good entry - would love to play an enhanced version later!
I had so much fun playing this :-) The graphics are minimal but consistent and I liked them a lot. The music is cool and the sound effects are okay. The mechanics are well known but hey, that's okay if the game is fun! One little annoyance: would be great if you'd capture the mouse inside the game window...
Anyways, cool entry, thanks a lot!
I love the art style, the graphics, the little background music tone and the sound effects. I think you didn't quite hit the theme but the game mechanics were easy to grasp and the game itself is pretty funny. I enjoyed playing it! Well done!
Pretty complex game for a LD compo and your first LD participation! Unfortunately I didn't "get it" which might have been my fault. I immediately was out of money and sometimes I didn't know how to proceed. So your tutorial might need to be a bit longer or explain some more mechanics (what difference does the district type make? How do I earn money? Just taxes?). The background music is annoying to be honest :-/ But I liked the graphics! Gave me a kind of architect's blueprint impression. They fit the game really well! Certainly a game I would come back to! Well done!
Nice game! The graphics were simple, but fit the game. Sound was good. I also liked the gameplay. Improvement suggestions: less pickups, maybe also allow placing them in any castle? It seems there was some little bug while I played: I couldn't reach areas on the far right and bottom. Something was off I guess. The mechanics were really good and I think you've created a great prototype that you can work on! Very good job!
Wow! A Pico-8 game! And a very nice one too! I had fun guiding my beam to catch people and see them running away from it! I only used one beam type and didn't seem to have any problem to get enough energy to proceed. It felt a bit repetitive after 10 levels or so. But I loved the tiny little pixel people (impressive how many different mini pixel people you managed to create), I loved the minimal music and the sound effects. Overall a very cool game that has a lot of potential by tweeking and fixing the existing stuff and it certainly offers lots of ways to enhance the game with more features! Well done!
