fun !
this put a smile on my face as soon as i saw the gif, its quite hard, and pleasing when i find matches that i can push into place
It has a good feel, like it means business, reminds me of amiga style games. Each game ends a bit too soon.. because of my lack of skill probably :p The voices are fun, and the the tanks and their tracks look great.
a fun mix, i like the pixel art and the audio, and the little touches like the robot malfunction and his showing off of abilities :D
lots of intricate features, but the gun doing no damage seems to make it impossible to get anywhere. The guy is a bit slow and the levels are a bit big in comparison D: It reminds me of impossible mission with the hacking, the guy had a goofy walk and an even goofier ceiling climb. fun ideas
its a fun design! i got 88 points so far. Looks like i had better learn my vegetables.
Wonderful experience. the puzzle was very challenging but seemed achievable. the dialogue with factions and nonlinear elements gave everything an extra interest and wonder. I loved the calm music throughout. part of the puzzle mechanic kind of reminded me of minesweeper, but this game is leagues ahead. lol! wonderful!
wow bumpmapping of pixels, crazy. I learnt to stone-fight and i save the princess. I like rolling stone.
quite a feature-full selection to make the most of the game. the aiming seemed pretty accurate, like, i didnt feel cheated if i didnt hit the target. I think this kinda game needs friends to really make it fun, to compare score.
I loved how the notes of the waves are in sync with the music. Nice waves and use of sound for the theme. I got only 80 points though, which is really small.
lol, i enjoyed the learning curve on this. It is quite surprising, and the weapon seemed quite effective after i mastered it!
i got an exception error after a minute or so, it looks really complex and its fun to see minions labouring over your orders though ! i couldnt understand what the screens were for or how to judge what i made. its not very accessible, but i like the idea of making a virus.
I found it very hard to catch and move the cat, my brain did not go between moving and pressing random keys very well, it was stressful :D. I liked the music. I dont think i will make it out of the room.
i also feel a little sick after the bendy screen effect.. i found manno though :D it was kinda scary before i found out what to do, and with the darkness in the air. i just felt dizzy again >_>. I think all the other effects were nice but not the bendy one.
I like the graphics and the smiles, I wanted a higher rate of smiles to outsmile the grumpy.
cute c64 / amiga music.. getting momentum to squash a tomato was a bit hard when they ganged up, and the puzzle level with 2 above you was really tough.. i couldnt pass it.. good work!
the concept brings an interesting game mechanic, keep moving and choose wisely. I found it hard to get past the first stage, and then i spent all my money on addons and no samples ._. I like it though.
i found the full screen version a bit hard to swallow, the smooth scrolling made me feel a bit sick, i liked the piano music a lot! perfectly eery, i didnt get very far. I think ill watch the walkthrough to enjoy the game from a distance :D
I wish there were less police at the start, or they were more forgiving initially. I find it very difficult to get started. I like the political theme, and the depth.
yay i won! It was super scary when the biggest ones arrived. I like the progression in this game. well balanced.
top score for audio, i loved that track :D, aiming is really hard, and the camera tracking was behind the player instead of in front, but i guess that is what its like when we feel sleepy :D im falling asleep thinking about it.. zz
Great intro, vocals! The reveal of the chosen weapon was brilliant. Such complex blend of 3d and 2d wizardry. the music was fitting for a platform and the sounds. I wish i didnt hit so many innocent people with my weapon. I failed on two attempts. Threw the yoyo and then jumped, and then i missed the enemy, that happened a few times, rookie mistake!
I found it quite hard to get through the level. When there is a single tile width, the cat would bang against the corners a lot. I love the little mew when the cat gets to the box. mew :3
its a really interesting concept! I wished there were extra options on some of the final points to find another way out.. :3
I like hex grids and this game makes good use of one. I found it very difficult at the start, then i realised my spit travels about 3 squares, then i realised i could click my move and as long as the guy is on his way i can move forever for free. He moves like a time traveller. Then it became easy. :D
yea like CiderPunk said, the scope and ambition is there. When i play it i generate a payload but i notice that the first fired payload never gets to the enemy ship before my ship dies D:
i liked the ninja movement and jumping, if only for some graphics and a weapon.. :3
I dont know how to fire anything, i edited the code but i guess like other comments, i cant figure it out.. I like how it looks though.
very atmospheric intro. snesgaard put it in the most druidic way: "If you jump while standing on a box, it jumps with you!" It is the druids way, if you jump on both boxes and then jump, the music also stops :D
Wonderful graphics, i love the hard edged but smoothly moving darkness and pixels. The flickering and failing lights are also very cinematic. After trying quite a few silent games, the audio of walking steps and flares was very exciting. I must have used like 30 flares and i didnt make it to morning.. Wonderful game :D
I love the narration, excellent acting and funny! a pretty world; blending pixel art and 3D. The story fits the theme perfectly. The 2d sprites remind me of games like wolfenstein. This was a fun experience :D
I got 3963 on my first attempt ^_^ Its the first game i played that made me think on my feet. I like that!
Thanks ianburnette and 10FingerArmy for your lovely comments!
I have added controls to the description :D (You can hack the controls from the config file)
Thanks HuvaaKoodia, for breaking it down. I was so close to implementing a victory condition. I intended to give a victory to the player that covers like 80% of any 64 x 64 area of the world. To give nature a good starting point :D
Yes KaiseanGames, water can be collected from a tap at the start, and from a well that is not too far away, (holding the right mouse button or left control or E) I am afraid there are no other water sources (the time constraint):(
oh wow, ill see what i can do kivano and mantlair!
I added libjsoncpp.so to the linux build. If other .so files are not found, they can be retrieved from your distros package manager. kivano, tell me if any other libraries come up D:
I played this game longer than any other LD game so far, it took a while to get to grips with the gameplay. I won in my first attempt though! I like the trading mechanics. I think it would help to have a graph, or some log of the buy price.
a pretty square world, I am curious about this quakeworld engine, it seems appropriate for minecraft style graphics. I found myself using the table slam a lot more than the rest :p the sound and graphics fit together well. i got to see some zombies in the level 3-4, but i ran out of health :(
Really tough game, but beautiful! I love the pixel art and effects. I like how it shows with care the horror of soldiers.
I also prefered the cow launcher. It seems a popular choice amongst commenters.. Then again, i guess the flower is a classic. The music was a bit repetitive. I liked the environmental angle :3
damn that mordrax and his crazy words, he bested me! good work UKCoder.
I was doing ok til the 3-colours level, then i couldnt avoid getting hit. mechanics didnt have to change so fast after every level, to get used to aim and such.
I wanted to play, but after the unity bar loads fully it just sits there. :(
Fun mechanics in this game. I wonder if anyone has managed to survive the pink alien hordes indefinitely? My score: 467400 / 5 weapons made.
It seemed quite well written, I almost thought it was real. The princess was a bit more detailed than usual 2D princesses ^_^
lull, I like the "strawberry 4 sale" animation. I like the zombie fights actually, because it seemed really close between getting ate and hitting them. nice.
While not a good game by any stretch, The Reviewer does provide hours of good multiplayer fun.
This is probably not a new joke is it? lull. I really like this game design, its fun, a bit stressful, and the result seems to be expected based on performance. Its a smart game, well done kyyrma!
The combination of slow music and objects starting and stopping, this is so strange. I laughed and it put a smile on my face. I like the angle of the view. I don't get how it fits to the theme though.
this is a game that can get quite frantic, i loved the music and the idea, i felt quite an urge to protect protect the eagle after i figured out my duty was to break the rocks and things in the path. i like that you made it with your kids :3 they did a good job and so did you.
nice pixel bots, was a bit confused where the game elements were at first, then i realised i could choose out of 3 rolls and choose which bot.. figured it out. my new bots would die so much that i only had one high spec bot. the style fit together, gfx and music. good work team!
you made very good use of the traps and enemies in the level design. every level was a challenge and i am glad to say i made it to the end.
hey smart idea with the left and right also pushing up!, the lines and graphics looks so clean and crisp. Level 5 was just, no. very hard, took a bunch of tries to get past the circles. I made it! woohoo, nice game. The movement is just right for a tense skill game. good work!
hahaha, fun, i got 15 meters after a couple of tries, nice busy music and funny simple sound effects.. wizz! wooo! interesting idea too, i count only one button, but the stack does grow if you play well enough. good work :D
i struggled on the 2nd level as the quarter would get overrun, and then i had some trouble when my mana stopped regenerating, I also didnt understand it when the gold counter went up and then zeroed. i enjoyed the look and the style of this game, great effort with the compo!
I had a smile as soon as this started, love the pixel styles and music. yup and i chuckled. very cool, like a point and click without any pointing or clicking. reminded me of maniac mansion etc. hahaha it was you in the grey text who was against the clock after all. great work :D
this is fun, frantic, with energetic music (key change!) and beeps that are on the beat. lots of crazy pickups, funny character, pixels! and planes and aliens wow. Great game! i got up to the big city before i lost :(
Thanks Madman for checking my game out! i have added some more vital information to the info above! Is that enough to get started?
i had to skip this for now as the game runs too fast for me.. i have pretty good reflexes but this seemed to run crazy fast in linux :(
innovative, large scale, lots of clicking, it seemed way too easy, i liked the growth aspect a lot, looks like its worth developing further, nice job team :D
498 points.. not great, but it was that 2 spike followed by a big blob! i couldnt shoot enough to get him :( I think this is very stylish with the pixels and vectory effects that look like pixels, ideal use of the theme, and rain and sound fx too, the enemies were cool. nice work
i was in the same boat with the running out of time during the compo and submitting for jam, the graphics look nice, and theres plenty of fitting sound and music. i didnt have much trouble completing. maybe i got lucky hehe. the layout of the rooms is quite interesting.. like there could be other things to add maybe? nice work! favourite room: the abyss type one with chunks of land where the doors are
very clean graphics with nice shadow effect, and tense music, which made for some interesting atmosphere, i was expecting more levels when it faded out to play again or quit. The game is like a traditional boss fight, well done!
i thought the character drawing was cute and other drawing looked cool, quite small though. I didnt see a score like the images attached. I like the story in the comments too. not bad :3
this is a smart idea! I had to play the last level over because i jumped on top of the end crystal :( but it was fun and i liked the difficulty level here. very nice compo entry. good work.
i found the jumping quite difficult, looks like a legit gameboy game on the inside, and much work to get 3d effects around it! I couldnt play it too long unless i figured out the jump better, nice work.
beautiful graphics, i liked the work on the map, though it was quite short and if you blink you will miss the reference to the theme. i found myself throwing the gun and everything else a lot to dispatch of the enemy. it reminded me of like duke nukem as much as minecraft. well done group!
1988 was my last score, its difficult but addictive, i wanted to get a better score hehe. i thought the bg music was a bit repetitive. i like the design of the gameplay, would do more if it was less severe, i like the pixel art, nice one
interesting, i wasnt sure if i was going to fast or too slow to take it in, its an interesting idea and the sound was varied along the way, but i didnt really get much of a story from the sounds, the swampy location i imagined but the other areas i didnt really imagine much. i do like it though :3
quite a trip.. a little bit of everything, some crazy music along the way, and some feeling in the ending. not bad not bad :3
i like the options in this game, though it seems quite highly luck based, the way the balls turn. Its no big deal but i am curious what in this game takes the 100MB+ size. good compo work!
very sweet design, until i remember its on fire :( my best was 8 points, my average was like 1.. good work.
pretty shapes and graphics, i think i like games that use the dark.. i found it a bit annoying when i sank after touching a wall a few times, but the game is smart, and i like the flare firing and stuff in the water around ships.
deserves 2 play throughs :3
Theres a good mix of gameplay with dashing through or shooting the obstacles and enemies. Falling back down to the bottom is quite punishing though.
Dynamic Panic Studios, you completed the game. I had intended other scenes in the same location at different times but when it came down to the crunch time, thats as far as i got. Thanks for playing, everyone :3
I have spent the most time on this game of all gamejam games so far, puzzle design, i am happy i perservered and got to the end. Quite a difficult main puzzle! I think there may have been one combination unopened of a 2 lock box.
I like your idea and your execution. The voice acting and the humour of getting the math on key tags. much enjoyed. I couldnt complete it. My maths was too slow :|
Thankyou for making it forgiving, when hitting water. xD
With the graphics i like the fireplace and lighting, nice atmosphere.
The first level was kinda different from the rest. It was all nice platformer puzzles from there on. There are various threats in the game which brings good variety and kept my interest through to the end. I was hoping there would be some more shrink-related puzzles, but the end screen explains.
I enjoyed playing it through. A great achievement for the whole team this ludum dare! Except for tsjost, I went 5 laps only on the last track, Its too long! It was a track of epic proportion though. I thought how mario kart had 3 laps, I think id prefer 3 or 5 laps on longer tracks.
The theme is covered with the placement of sticky boxes throughout the game, which are used in several of the puzzles.
The levels difficulty ramped up pretty fast, with surprise attacks requiring fast reflexes, and smart key puzzles, all the while the slightest wrong move can destroy your drone.
I love the rotating pixel art graphics and the lighting effects. The end-game boss looked menacing and awesome.
The complexity of the boss is worth a mention as it was a real challenge to get past him, i think i would like it if he shot a few less lasers, because i was so close to quitting the game, i bet many other people would have quit the game in frustration, because as soon as i successfully dodge his laser, i got hit by his charge.
The tune reminded me of the alien soundtrack a little, enhancing the feeling of cold artificial metal spaceships and the vast empty space beyond.
The high-pitched pew-pew sounds made the weapons sound weak, imagine if each shot had a roaring noise, that would have made them seem more powerful to me.
This is, i think the best game of the 12 i have rated so far!
p.s. sorry i wrote so much, i just wanted to mention all the things that are worth note because i think its the best game so far lull
I played 10 waves of farm-shooter, (which means i went in and out of the shed, the main activity of the game, at least 50 times). I guess it would have been nice if there was a way to fill more of the field up, or more shotgun-action each wave. Anyway its a nice little game for a compo entry.
very nice 3d game, fun sound effect and tough to get far. I got to level 4 with over 400 points but because i clicked too much i didnt see the final score at 2 attempts ._.
Well done on your first submission for ludum dare! Its fun and challenging to try and get some infrastructure going, quite a panic. The clicking is kinda annoying for me though.
You have a point. I wanted the bigger bat to be unwieldy and slidey, but it is not very noticeable :(
Maybe.. I should have started with a huge bat and then brought it down to a tiny bat! Thankyou :D
Oh man. Lamp posts would have been perfect for those side walls. If only i thought of it sooner! xD
The waves, bosses and various enemies, that kind of complexity is impressive. The graphics are simple in a stylish way, and its well presented and most of it seems to fit. I sometimes lose sight of my target and/or my character when theres a lot going on. Its fun and action packed.
Wonderful intro and voxel art in the character, and the worlds were enough detail. Its the scope of this game.. I think it would take a team, making it more doable as a jam entry. but whatever, it was fun to play. It was fun to read and watch and listen to the music, some zelda-like tunes in there. As the ending says, all you need to know is woopee!
Very dramatic intro screen with the music and 3d title. Starting the game, i was being dropped into a lot at once, huge boss size enemy after me right away, and crunchy loud music and dark greyscale, it all sets a tone. I didnt get very far as after a few waves id findmyself getting stuck in an invisible corner and they would get me. I like the dark aesthetic.
fun intro and setting, blend in with the humans in their natural setting. nice work given the short time of the compo: pixel art character and the bacteria effects on the office stuff. I found a way to leverage that bug where the guy keeps moving, he leaves the bacteria zone and takes less. My first attempt, I scored 2902872 so i am champion of the comments! :D
44 or so coins by the 3rd attempt, fun but short-lived. Nice mix of moves with the flash/block/attack options.
I can play it up to about 16 universes then my reaction time is too slow.. lull nice one
The graphics for the goos on the planet are cute, and the planet earth also nice work. The music was gentle and although its repetitive, it fits and doesn't get annoying. Quantity of food being limited was a mechanic in the game that puts a hard limit on what you can do.
The hovering targeting seems fast and effective when there are few goos. When there are so many goos, it seems to not always feed the goos. I think it was a lack of feedback on where i was feeding.
Switching between food colour was where it annoyed me a little. It would waste food in the switch. I imagine a hose with switching between food sources might be more satisfying, but maybe thats part of the core concept of the game so..
My score when i played a 2nd or 3rd time: 1131.964
All in all a great achievement this compo :D
nice compo entry, funny audio, absolutely hammering my space bar haha
Challenging and frustrating at times, as these kinds of games should be. These zombies know how to moonwalk! I like the rhythm / timing side of this game also. I enjoyed playing it through!
I especially liked the pixel art kitteh, and the spirity ghost kitteh, the rest was nice too, looked okay. I only played it for about a minute though as i couldnt get past the water obstacle. Concept and Art - great!
Fun game, great execution!
[my score 9895](///raw/459/1/z/d9ef.jpg)
If i could learn to get across the street i would probably get further with it but as the leaderboard has one entry heres my score :D
Fun description, great menu visual. So fitting for the theme. It got hard to actually play after about 9 Emus, as they were so spread out. Moving the camera became very very slow, i had enough of the game by then.
The distance of the kings perspective from the masses makes for an interesting subject. The story is told through foreboding mood in the music and graphics and it fits the theme well. The kings lack of movement restricted the "game" to a slideshow, and similarly with the static view.
If the game remembered the least number of moves achieved per level it would add a competitive dimension! i like this one :D
Much character in the graphics! I am a fan of the hitman games, and the gameplay appeals to me. You achieved quite a lot!
I enjoyed the silent movie feel, with intro and simple control, and most of all the hard thinking required to get through the game. very rewarding. pu disul game! ku stoi?
Its a very unusual stealth game. For me the sound was very quiet unfortunately, so i couldn't appreciate all the voices. The movement was kinda slow which made it hard, but i managed to learn to avoid the lady (mostly) after a few attempts. Its a lot of 3d modeling and design for a compo so well done for that :)
I enjoyed this concept and its execution. Very cool mechanic for changing the world piece by piece! I would love to play a bigger version of this, like you suggested electrical wires traveling through the pieces. Thanks for coming to my stream to suggest i play it.
I agree with Amastryukov above in that the puzzles seem disconnected to me. Though i rarely saw sense in the puzzles of most full point and click puzzles. I could get past that due to the world being small enough that i could try just about everything. A whole point and click adventure is impressive for the compo!
Thoughtful level design and gameplay. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few ways to complete these levels! Well done with completing a compo entry! I streamed it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/491837292?t=03h15m50s
That is a good question, @kessutinnu :duck:
When i ran it, i got to a point where the axe grew in size on screen, but it stayed where it was, and i couldnt progress. Is this a known bug, any ideas?
It was initially hard to control, i think because the very tiny dot has quite a lot of mass when he moves, either that or the floor is very slippery. I found it rewarding when i found ways to get through the obstacles and enemies by being tiny. Well done for making a compo game! I streamed it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/491837292?t=04h40m37s
I agree. the controls are very janky.. I wish i made some kind of indicator to help illustrate the rhythm of the movement, but of course, i ran out of time in the compo :)
I liked the graphics with the zoomed in planet. It gives a nice spacey feel. Quite a complex game with all the production and stats. I kept running out of food and losing my buildings. Nice compo game!
I enjoyed this a lot. Thoughtful puzzles that are rewarding. Great graphics and sound, funny feeling when you slip up and lose someone to the abyss. Thanks for coming to my stream to suggest it for me!
I found about 3 guys by accident by taking my first selfie in front of a big area :p I didn't want to exploit that further so I found some other people my self. I liked finding wheres wally (waldo). Voices and sounds make it fun. So many silly lines in there. Really great job on a compo entry.
I like these hard platformers. I am glad you put that save option in, because without it i wouldn't have gone far.
I dont know what it was with the controls but many times i would attempt to dash, and I wouldn't dash. It is quite frustrating when controls don't go as I expect, (i had control problem with my entry). I found the music frustrating, but i let it play because its part of the experience :)
The level challenges are very tricky and hard, so getting past each is very rewarding, and I was very happy when I completed your game.
I streamed it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/491837292?t=04h20m40s
I almost gave up on level 2. I am glad i didnt because, after figuring out some alternative strategy, i managed to get better and eventually get the trident. I think its thanks to seeing Hajdens comment that i persevered! I got to the level with the gold armor guy. Its a good compo game. I streamed it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/492646992?t=01h06m48s
The fixed camera, i found it quite hard to judge the height (I see you have acknowledged the camera a few comments back). and the unusual always jumping guy made it harder. Its a nice concept of the level creator behind another the making of a game, which tackles the theme perfectly. I think i got through some of the levels by brushing the edge of a light rather than climbing up to reach it from above. Well done with making the game in 2 days :D
I really enjoyed this, figuring out strategies and seeing what happens. I didn't manage to break the curse. It is pretty hard!
short and sweet, actually, that boss was scary!
I absolutely hammered my mouse clicks on this game. It looks great, plays great. I find it painful to go back and try again, maybe i just click too much? Nice compo entry!
I am glad to say i completed it and saved the dwarfs life, very crazy and quite hard platformer! Well done for making it for the compo! I streamed it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/492370802?t=02h56m36s
Fiendish crazy-computer simulator. Thanks for suggesting i play it :) I hope to go back to day 3 and finish it.
Wonderful graphics and movements. This bad boy couldn't last a few seconds without an apple (is he committing seppuku?), but once you get him well fed and find a weapon he kicks ass! I enjoyed the challenge of getting started, and when the tables turn. I spent a long time before returning to read that i was as far as i can get. Its a great compo entry! I streamed it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/491837292?t=03h00m35s
Thanks for sharing the game when i was streaming. I had fun playing it through. I had a few mis-steps here and there. I mean, seriously, who puts chairs on the wall? Threw me off while running away! From start to finish it plays well. Beware of the benjamin :)
It was kind of like a memory game after all. Listening for details of the memory, as I try and fill the scene, Maybe that is a sign i don't have as much of a visual memory. And how different people would play this game differently if they are more or less visual. Well delivered compo game! I streamed it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/492370802?t=00h57m27s
(similarly i had a few troubles getting started.) It was fun working on the pipeline of recycled things , and seeing all the vehicles moving. I got quite far but suddenly run out of money after 1 or 2 purchases in a row. Too harsh! Its a fun compo game! I streamed it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/492370802?t=02h23m21s
I found myself questioning some of the combinations, like i thought steam would be from water and fire :) It didnt feel much like gameplay once i found myself mostly clicking all combinations to find the next one (i forgot about the hint option for most of it). I liked the graphics which were clean and clear what the icon symbolised. Its a well made compo entry.
I had fun playing. It gets pretty hectic as time goes on. I enjoyed the sound effects and progression. I gave up after i got most of the things maxed. I streamed my experience with your game here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/491837292
Wonderful graphics, the spacey moving background and the bloomy growing light. Very simple gameplay but effective! I streamed it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/491837292?t=02h53m45s
I got myself to level 20 before deciding i won the game. Great procedural game design, in a compo entry! I streamed it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/492646992?t=01h12m01s
I enjoyed pushing crates into a protective fort and crashing into other bots. I either got lucky or maybe it was a bit too easy as I got to level 10+ on my first attempt.
It is a good game idea, and great to achieve for the compo!
I streamed it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/491837292?t=02h34m05s
The pace of this game was so fast after reading the intro, and it kinda made me chuckle. Its frantic fun, I got through quite quickly. congratulations for making a game in 48 hours :)
It works for me but it was kinda short.. But much more crucially it is complete! And that is great to make a complete compo entry! I streamed it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/491837292?t=03h12m50s
