interesting use of theme, game play was ok, voice acting was interesting but hard to understand.
had some weird behavior with some jumps. and wasn't clear how to hurt the donut until I accidentally hit it.

@adroitconceptions Thanks for playing. Yeah I can understand it not being directly obvious how to hit the donut. Happy you made it that far and saw the whole game.
I really liked your creativity with the boss fights. They had a nice quality to them :) The controls were a little bit glitchy at times and I ended up kind of cheesing the second boss, but the mechanics were definitely there. Good work nonetheless :D
Voice acting wasn't very clear, but I do like how you implemented it since I haven't seen anyone else do it yet. I think the movement was a little slow but overall it was pretty fun to play.
@bobothegreat Actually I made it so you had to cheese the second boss. Didn't have time to add other options for the character.
@bootygangdisciple Yeah, I overdid it on the bass and reverb, but since there was also text it was more to just add a menacing feel. Yeah, in the last level the bigger map does make the speed feel slow.
Haha, this is adorable. I love the art, and the animations are hilarious. Nice boss fight design, though some of the attacks are a bit hard to dodge, and the death leading to a complete restart of the game is pretty harsh.
10/10 Voice acting. Pretty nice boss rush with a story. Donut could be a little bit more clear how to hit, and controls seem to be a little bit buggy what with getting random 4x jumps. Overall looks like you had fun making this and it seems to bleed into the game.
@blobo Yeah, if I had a little more time I was going to have restart of the level but was going to take a little longer to program that with the end screen.
@musicblox Yeah, seems I have received a few people having trouble understanding Donut. Yeah the controls might have had some issues, but happy you found it fun.
Definitely worth playing for the amount of giggles I had while playing. I was already charmed by calling it a Quadopus but when I saw the hamburger take of his top bun to use it as a shield I knew that this was going to be good. Only real complaint is that its really hard to understand the voice acting but you put text with it as well so that wasn't a real problem. Also some glitchyness with the donut fight but nothing game breaking.
@theseusinabottle Yeah the voice acting was more to make it sound menacing, tough to do a deep voice distortion without losing some of the audio. Happy I got you to a giggle. I loved the hamburger bun shield idea also.
Feels really messy and botched together and yet it's still works! Had fun with this, great job!
@brandon-js-lea Happy you had fun.
The game starts and WOW! Voice acting, so cool! Then that coke came at me swinging punches like crazy, dude! It was terrifying, I got so scared. The burger and the donut felt less threatening but still cool characters never the less. The hit boxes are a bit unclear so I had some trouble with those platforms and dodging projectiles, but who cares? I have so much HP I am nearly immortal. So crazy! The only bad thing about this game is that it ends. Good job!
@hcursino Happy you enjoyed it, surprised you thought the coke was the hardest
Game looks great. Controls a bit wonky when jumping. Nice game.
It was fun to play despite being a little glitchy. It would be cool for the character to have a jump and idle animation.
@reasonable-games He should have an idle animation where he moves his arms up and down. Yeah a jump animation would have been nice
That's one funky game. It as the whole "Game Development Beginner" aesthetics. The controls are a bit clunky and unpredictable. Beyond that, it is great fun. Keep learning and you will nail it in april.
What a fun entry
:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:
@purpledartfrog Happy you enjoyed
What a bizarre game. I don't know what I just experienced, but I liked it! Fun and funny game with cool enemy mechanics. I enjoyed how each enemy would have different phases, each with their own attacks and strategies for defeating them. Neat voice acting too! The music felt a little disjointed and jarring, but I appreciate that music was included (so many LD games lack audio). Wild entry!
@ropedog Yeah, music is hard. I didn't want to do just have ambient music, though. Thanks for playing.
A little to glitchy and harsh for me, but I it was a bit charming:)
@Brallex Thanks for playing. Yeah, spent a little too much time trying to get three interesting enemies and failed to have the platforming be great.
Funny game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 45 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/aEgrmplySyU
The game give me some Cuphead vibes which was fun. The voice acting was a little hard to hear during the narrative, but a welcomed addition since not many people tend not to add it.
@rainetheglutton Yeah, I over distorted my voice, it was more to just sound scary, since the words were onscreen. Thanks for playing.
The last boss battle is actually quite a lot of fun, hope you had as much fun making it as I did while playing it!
@hare-software I did have fun making the game. Wanted each enemy to feel different and hope they did. Thanks for playing.
the darf animation is creepy and lovely at the same time ... the cola enemy is creeeeeepy man this has a very interesting aesthetic that is at the same time cute and creepy ... the char seems to stick a bit too much to the platforms though
@velvetlobster Yeah the platforming ended up being very poor. I am happy you like the art.
I am glad to say i completed it and saved the dwarfs life, very crazy and quite hard platformer! Well done for making it for the compo! I streamed it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/492370802?t=02h56m36s
@shrapx Thanks for playing, I'll watch the video
I enjoyed the game! Challenging and funny. :)
@swordishmage Thanks for playing, happy you found it funny.
I love the sound, but the controls need some tuning.
@p-r Yeah, focused a little too much on having a few bosses with different abilities and the platforming ended up being bad. Thanks for playing.
I like the variation in the bosses - though I found the first one by far the hardest!
P.S. Love the Quadropus!
@space-wumpus Thanks, I have heard a lot of people thought the cola was the hardest, definitely harder than the hamburger, meant to have the hamburger attack and defend at the same time the whole fight.
Fell through the level fighting the first boss. Doesn't seem to be anything I can besides reloading the page.
@ogre Weird, what did you do to do that?
I loved the part that you have included VOICE ACTING, as it is pretty rare..not everyone does it. Good work overall!
@karanveer Thanks for playing.
Great game, 10/10.
OK, unhelpful review aside, some actual constructive criticisms. The game is, for the lack of better words, very buggy with some fundamental game design flaws in an otherwise solid (if, a little too safe) basis. To me, this actually added to the charm of the game, to a point where I started enjoying the game for being "it's so bad, it's good." As you can see from our stream below, we basically just cheesed every boss and exploited any bugs we can find.
I did think the game could have used some significant polish in a number of factors. For one, I always felt either the player's hitbox was too large, or the boss' attacks were too large to dodge. It would have been nice to have the gravity boosted slightly to make it much easier to jump between the Cola bullets, or at least add some hold-jump-button mechanic for taller heights to make it easier to execute short-hops. The player seemed to have a clear hit animation (though rudimentary), but it would have been nice to see a similar effect appear on bosses as well for successful hits. The current visuals for the axes being launched made it difficult to predict its range, and arguably since it's so close-range, it doesn't always feel effective. Also, the flip point of the player isn't quite centered properly...
Finally, the bosses really needed a large amount of animations (or at least, some sort of visual effect) to provide a "tell" for when certain attacks are coming. As a player, it was difficult for me to predict what the next upcoming attacks were, and how to work with the new situation the game has thrown at me. This was why cheesing was more satisfying to me than trying to play the game the "intended" way: I didn't really feel the Cola and Doughnut bosses were "fair" (Hamburger was just strange).

@omiya-games Thanks for the extensive review. Yeah the game was a little rushed with trying to include three enemies. Cheesing the enemies actually is kind of how I intended.
I played this game on stream with @Omiya-Games.
This game is freaking great. It needs a bunch of small polish stuff like telegraphs for enemies. But overall, this game is wacky and just fun. @omiya-games was the one actually playing this one on the stream, so I don't feel comfortable offering too much more serious feedback. I can see he has already posted the stream link if you want to see our reactions.
@allbetsareoff Thanks for the review, yeah I wish the gameplay ended up being a little better.
Let's say, I appeased the quadopus at the end  The constant boss battle after boss battle must have been tough to handle, as they each have different events when at differing healths. The Quadopus eating them at each's end was hilarious though xD
While the art is inconsistent (some objects really detailed- player; some objects plain and simple-platforms) and the music was questionable to the ear, I still enjoyed the throwing pickaxes everywhere lol.
Short but nice! :thumbsup_tone4:
@itsdanidre Yeah I have trouble drawing background and objects, also have to cut corners with only 48 hours. Thanks for playing.
Haha now this is real gaming, I love the random visual style, feels very programmer-art-y, and the gameplay is fun too. I wouldn't call it polished... but it's certainly something lol. Nice work.
@brokenmirrormedia Yeah, thanks for playing. Tough to put a game out in 48 hours and didn't have as much time as I would have liked. Spent a little too much time trying to have multiple bosses, so some of the overall gameplay suffered.
Impressive, these different enemies! I enjoyed playing, and also the music & voice. :) I finished the game  The controls could use some polish, in my opinion. :) I didn't notice the double-jump in the first level. I wish the restart was without the intro (then I noticed that the 'Continue' button is every time on a different spot).
@papaver Thanks for playing, Yeah spent too much time making multiple enemies. The continue being in different places was so you wouldn't accidentally click through everything.
