LD38 — A Small World

Insect Attack by SimplePotential 2017-05-02T01:01:20Z

Hey there! I see what you're going for here, and I do think it has potential. The mechanics that are in place are solid, and I think you're headed in the right direction. It looks like you had to scrap your original card-game idea, which is a bummer. I'm glad you still put this out!

Slice of Life by tweedle 2017-04-25T02:22:46Z

@tweedle I just ordered pizza!

Unnamed Space Project by Devastus 2017-05-02T01:08:12Z

This game looks sharp! I'm a big fan of strategy/tower defense games, and this is no exception. It was a little tough for me at first, and it would have been helpful to have some additional instructions. But once you get going this game is really fun! It's all about getting those quick turrets out!

I do wish there were some sound effects to go along with the intense action. All in all, great entry!

Little Fortune Planet by Flaterectomy 2017-05-02T00:51:05Z

Very original concept! I like how the world dynamically changes based on what you decide to pick. Seems like you can get a lot of neat combos going! Also - really funny card descriptions.

I didn't really know how to "win" (or if that's even part of it). Seems like a way to kind of relax and run a 'what-if' world simulator. Nice job!

Pixel Town by automatonvx 2017-05-02T01:24:44Z

I really like this one. Once you get your economy in place you can start building up your town and defenses. Then you can really go to town (see what I did there?)! I also can't tell you how important having a 'clear' function is! So many 'build' games don't have this, and it's enough to drive a man insane.

Anyway, great work! Neat mechanics, and solid gameplay!

Space Cowboy's Last Stand by jasperarmstrong 2017-05-02T00:31:21Z

Sweet game! The rotation mechanics feel really good, and you have to compensate for the bullet trajectories! I also appreciate the addition of a store. It adds a lot of depth and strategy to the game. I will say I wish I could have had the option to either pause the game or become invincible while accessing the store. While having to buy items at the same time as the aliens are attacking adds to the frantic nature of the gameplay, it makes it tough to assess your current health, the planet's health, and your ammo all at the same time. Fun game, great idea, and solid execution!

Tiny Hadron Collider by clegamecoop 2017-05-02T00:41:07Z

Nicely done! This game is all about trying to contain your momentum, and attempting to move slightly without slamming into other objects. It actually gets pretty tough to maintain control! I wasn't entirely sure what the different pickups did, but once I picked up a blue one I couldn't be killed by anything (except for the wall). Cool idea, and perfect for this jam!

Cubical by earthcollapse 2017-04-25T02:37:30Z

Game is very pretty! Cool mechanics on moving the cube as well. I think it would be helpful to have more instructions on how the game is played, as I had some trouble figuring this out at first. Nice job!

LD39 — Running out of Power

Drone Supervisor by Jimbly 2017-08-05T06:06:33Z

Holy crap - this is really well done! I can't believe you fit all this in during a LD! There's really a ton going on here. You could've just stuck with the drones and arrows and called it good, but you added freakin' recipes which adds a ton of depth. Nice job!

Feed the machine by Vivoubos 2017-08-05T05:43:38Z

Fun little game with hilarious sound effects! I found myself rushing around to gather resources quickly (while dodging bullets), and the music really added to the intensity! Nice job!

Zone Slayer by mmason 2017-08-02T03:19:25Z

Alright, this is dope as hell. Really dig the overall aesthetic. Graphics, story, audio, title screen, freakin' 'Password' button - all of it is excellent. Great work on this, and perfect for an LD game!

The Infinite Mine by SuperCrunchy 2017-08-05T05:38:04Z

Fun and engaging! Keeps me coming back to build a bigger base and get a higher score. I'm a fan of how you have to constantly be on the move because the metals you mine are finite. Also - nice work on the intro tutorial. Very helpful and rare for a jam!

In Battery We Trust by PGDevPatryk 2017-08-05T05:57:05Z

Okay, this game is creepy as *hell*. Once my flashlight started getting low I had to start conserving battery life. I knew there were giant freaky scorpions all around me, but I would only catch glimpses of them before they ate my face. Really nailed the theme and overall mood. Nice job!

Space Bear Panic by Chris Coe 2017-08-02T03:11:02Z

Sweet game! I thought the graphics and level design were really great, and fit the mood of the game well. The 'entity' is a really cool aspect that keeps you on your toes. The game becomes much more strategic when you have to remember where the entity is, and how you can best wall it off. I do think the difficulty could be ramped up a bit more with the entity spreading faster, but that can be a tough thing to balance for a game jam. Great entry!

Office Wars by Lumous 2017-08-05T05:51:37Z

This seems like a pretty dangerous work environment. I mean you've got open machinery, robots running around and throwing stuff at each other, and competing teams in the same location! I really like the AI running around and completing tasks to try and give their side an edge. I also thought the floating '1's and '0's when coding was a nice touch. Nice job!

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

GeneNOM - Create Your Own Organism! by stencilchris 2017-12-05T04:21:07Z

I like it! The game started to get pretty difficult after awhile, but that's not a bad thing! I enjoyed the Snake variation - it has a surprising amount of depth. I did notice that the music doesn't loop, and I wanted to keep listening to futuristic space laser sounds while eating DNA.

Nice job!

PimpSim by Jaacob 2017-12-05T04:36:59Z

Alright, this is ridiculous, hilarious, and actually really well done. At first I was just roaming the (super cool) town and chillin' to the sweet tunes, but then I started gaining respect. Before long I was frequently checking in with my hoes to get paid, and controlling my turf. You should all be proud of yourselves for putting this game into the universe.

Cat Lady by Jason Lothamer 2017-12-07T03:47:34Z

Really funny game! It seems like a lot of thought was put into the AI and roaming of the cats. This idea fit really well with the theme. I'd say the music could be kicked up a few notches to better match the levels of the sound effects. Nice work!

Kittea Party by JPiolho 2017-12-07T04:11:57Z

This was really great! The graphics are excellent, and the theme is well executed. This could definitely be a mobile game where you tap on poop (ew) to clean it. I did find myself wishing I could walk through the cats and guests, or at least get closer to them. I started getting blocked off from large areas of fecal matter, and I wasn't able to get cleaning. Really nice work!

A Spark of Light by TurbulentWinds 2017-12-07T04:23:47Z

Really great concept that compliments the theme well. Both the music and the light/dark dichotomy set a strong mood, which is a very well executed aspect of this game. Nice work, and I'm looking forward to playing your future LD titles!

Retro Rocket Run! by gwolf86 2017-12-07T03:55:17Z

Neat little game - great job for your first entry! Graphics and music fit very well together, and it absolutely has a strong retro feel (which I love). You're definitely taking a risk when picking up coins, and it adds to the suspense. I would have liked more variance in the level, but maybe that can come later with a full release! Nice job!

LD42 — Running out of space

Tunnel Racer by ctrble 2018-08-18T01:42:40Z

Sweet entry! Makes me feel like I'm flying a spaceship to escape whatever massive base/planet/space station is exploding behind me. This entry fits in well with the theme, and the aesthetics make everything gel nicely. Once I got the hang of the rotate controls (and the brake... definitely needed the brake), I was able to successfully escape the tunnel.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Generous Ginger George, the Gingerbreadman by limered 2018-12-05T03:40:10Z

Quite fun! This is a clever game, and it has a lot of charm. The platforming was smooth and overall gameplay was easy to grasp. The graphics and audio were both well done, and everything seemed really polished. Nice work!

Santa frowns to town by tanis 2018-12-05T01:56:56Z

This is a fun game, and it seems perfect for this jam. It has a hilarious premise, nice graphics, and smooth gameplay. I would have liked to see some variation in the type of presents or wrapping. Maybe having different sized presents that could only fit in larger boxes could help mix it up, but that might be more of a post-jam idea. Solid game - I really enjoyed it!

Jesus Take the Wheel by PeachTreeOath 2018-12-05T04:09:48Z

I don't know what just happened, but I loved every second of it. This game is amazing! It's hilarious, fun, challenging, and great to look at. The premise is very funny, and the laughs continue throughout the game. Really solid effects here too - I love when vehicles explode, collide with one another, or start to spin out of control. The difficulty begins to really ramp up as more and more vehicles are introduced, but it's not done in a frustrating way. This is a fantastic entry, and you should all be proud of yourselves.

Minotaur Mania by Trifectuh 2018-12-05T03:47:47Z

Great intro and story. It really sets the mood for the game. The retro style and music were nice, and it was cool that the entire game is being played on an old PC. I think it would be great to add a few more levels.

Tim's Christmas Nightmare by Zombie Virals 2018-12-05T03:54:55Z

This game really sets the tone from the beginning, and the overall mood is very dark as a result. The graphics and music were excellent, and I enjoyed the story. My only notes would be that the narrator was mixed a little lower than the music, so he was a little hard to hear. I also didn't see the theme well represented. Otherwise this was a great entry. Nice job!

Dear GrandMa by TontonPizza 2018-12-05T04:03:29Z

I really like the mood and overall feel of this game. The music and dialogue set the tone well. The graphics are also really well done. I think with a bit more time and polish this would be a really good story/platforming style of game. Nice work!

LD44 — Your life is currency

Almost free by Listonos 2019-05-03T00:05:29Z

Fun platformer! I went with the arrow keys for movement, and I found this to be much easier as I had better control over my attacks. The upgrades really do give you a lot of extra power, which is nice when fighting the ceiling-shooty guys and the jumping blobs. It seems like a lot of work was put into enemy variety and enemy abilities. The floating orbs attack in a really unique and cool way. Definitely kept me on my toes! Great entry!

This is your life now by reuno 2019-05-01T01:58:55Z

The graphics were really good, and I appreciated the framerate counter. I enjoyed the story aspect of this, and the different types of choices were well thought out. I also really liked how the story changed in ways you wouldn't expect based on your past choices. The music was good, and it fit well with the tone of the game. I do wish that there was some other indicator or use for the different stat increases and decreases. I didn't quite understand what effect those would have on the game. Great entry - thanks for submitting it!

Timezone by joemanaco 2019-05-01T01:46:37Z

Really cool graphics and audio. Love the synthwave music - it really adds to the countdown aspect of this game. Gameplay is smooth and fun, although shooting felt like it took a lot of time away from the clock. The only real issue I had was that the game took a performance hit the more I played, and it eventually made it tough to jump over enemies. Great entry! Thanks for submitting!

Soul Surge by Brackeys 2019-05-01T01:26:42Z

Nice take on the theme! The roguelike aspect of this game adds a lot to the replayability, and I liked being able to go back through areas but faster/stronger. The mood and setting of this game are also really solid. I do wish the upgrades you received would add a little more 'umph' to your character and abilities, and I felt that the sword could have had a bit more range when attacking enemies. Great entry, I had fun playing!

Idle Idol by Daniel Moreno 2019-05-01T02:42:37Z

This has been the best LD44 game I've played so far. The gameplay is fun and addictive, the music is light and calming (with some cool portamento effects), and the graphics are nice to look at. I really enjoyed the progression of this, and once I got to the point where I didn't have to click anymore I was on the path to victory! Really awesome entry. Thanks for making this!

SACRIFIGHTS by Lumpy 2019-05-03T02:06:09Z

The music is great! The organ fits the mood really well. The game looks fantastic, and little details like the floating text when picking up an item adds a lot to the overall polish. The game overall seems to have a lot of depth. I was also blown away by the tutorial at the start. I don't remember seeing a LD game with a full tutorial. Lastly, the different types of demons you can summon are really clever. Super impressive that you did this in a weekend!

Ollo's Life by Memel06 2019-05-03T02:27:04Z

This kid keeps getting himself into the worst situations, and Ollo ends up having to sacrifice himself over and over. It honestly sounds like a nightmare situation, and Ollo should have peaced out a long time ago. I really love the commitment to the retro style of this game. The music and art really brought me back to being a kid and playing my gameboy for hours on end. The music did get a little repetitive, but I found it really impressive that you had multiple songs playing throughout the game. Great game!

Don't Die, Dumpstercat! by Trifectuh 2019-05-03T01:43:15Z

You don't see many LD games with intros and instructions, and this game presented both very well. I loved the cat puns, and the music fit the game and style well. The different items each changed up the gameplay quite a bit, which was for a shorter game. I do wish there were some additional levels, but it's tough to fit in a lot of content during a game jam. Really nice entry - thanks for the submission!

With It Or On It by SaRNEh 2019-05-04T01:20:53Z

This game looks _really_ cool. The character silhouettes and red sky really kick the mood of this game into high gear. It definitely feels like a giant battle has taken place. The music also has kind of a "drums of war" feel, which is pretty perfect for this game. The gameplay itself felt like it could be improved with some additional fighting options. Maybe some more moves, or the ability to sprint or dodge could give this some additional depth. All in all, this is a solid LD entry. Thanks for making this game!

9 Lives by mrtnldm 2019-05-03T00:32:06Z

I really like the hand drawn look of this game. It's really unique, and it's super interesting to look at while playing. I also enjoyed the vocal meow's scattered throughout. Made me laugh a few times! The controls felt a little clunky, but once I got the hang of it I was able to make the more difficult jumps. Nice entry!

Evil Dungeon by Balance686 2019-05-03T01:26:38Z

The flashlight effects are really cool, and it definitely adds to the overall mood in this game. It's fun crawling through the creepy dungeon to try and find a way out with only your flashlight. The different paths and hazards really add a sense of impending doom, and I enjoyed doing my best to avoid them. I think maybe adding some music would really kick the overall mood up to 11. Nice job!

Glampire Baby Herder by don.shinski 2019-05-03T01:52:31Z

This game is really funny! Love the voiceover work you're doing here, it adds so much to the lightheartedness of the game (along with the music). I do wish I could have traveled farther away from the inn without incurring much of a tax, and I think it could be a little easier to pick up babies if they're above/below you. With that said, the game is a lot of fun, and I enjoyed playing. Thanks for making this!

Kat's Flowery Fever Dream by topbraj 2019-05-04T01:13:47Z

This is one of the smartest LD games I've played. Managing your flower's water level and the timing of cutting off smaller flowers all while trying to grow your flower can get pretty hectic. Once I started anticipating price fluctuations better I was able to reach 99 coins. I do wish the money cap was higher because getting just a few flowers at 15 - 20 coins can quickly max you out. But I could also see how a bigger wallet might make the game a little too easy. The graphics and music are great, and they do a great job of adding some calm to the chaos. Really great job - I enjoyed this a ton!

time to time by Rs11s21n 2019-05-03T01:33:47Z

Graphics are really well done! Running, shooting, strafing around enemies, and movement in general feels good. The audio also adds to the other-worldly mood. The map also feels large, which gives the player a lot to explore. I think some sound effects would add a lot to the mood, and to help indicate if you're taking damage or if you've hit an enemy. Great entry!

Save and sell them by ROBOWARRIOR1982 2019-05-01T02:13:57Z

This is nice mix of a platformer and resource management sim. The gameplay was smooth and rewarding, and the graphics and music were both excellent. I'm a big fan of the comic book art style, and you pull it off well here. This game also has a really neat progression system, and the ability to save is something you don't see often in game jam games. Great entry! Had a lot of fun!

Cursed Samurai by palsina 2019-05-03T02:14:07Z

This game is gorgeous. The parallax effect mixed with the falling snow and other particles gives this game a calming effect, which is juxtaposed with the brutal nature of the gameplay. The game is quite difficult, which I could see being a high barrier to entry for some. I also think the addition of music and sound effects would go a long way to adding to the overall mood of this game (which is already impressive). Really great job on this. Thanks for making it!

Save Your Bacon! by Furtive Pygmy 2019-05-06T02:43:27Z

Solid and fun game that made me laugh quite a bit! I like the use of the theme to decrease the difficulty. Eventually buzzsaws started flying too fast for me to dodge, but it was cool to try and manage my current level until that point. Art and music were both well done. Nice job!

Sheep It by anstabo 2019-05-01T01:38:14Z

Okay - this game was super polished and really well done. I'm amazed that you knocked this out over a weekend! The game is gorgeous, and the music fits really well with the setting. I also found myself laughing out loud at a few points. This game is also very relaxing, except for when all of my sheep decided to jump off a cliff. Really nice job - I had a blast playing!

Anti-Hero by DrumGadget_433 2019-04-30T03:09:39Z

This game is sweet! It took me a couple tries to understand the nutrient selection system, but once I got the hang of the mechanics I really started progressing. Really interesting system of queuing up and loading your weapons. It feels good to get all four cannons loaded up correctly and fired into a line of citizens. Cool explosion effects too! It's smart, funny, challenging, and the progression feels right. Nice job putting this out in only 72 hours!

Minister 2.2K by Wilgnne 2019-05-03T02:37:06Z

Great artwork! Really liked the look of this game, and there were some cool transition effects, like the newspaper spinning in. I also respect that you took the opportunity to comment on a political situation that is important to you. I did have some difficulty fully grasping when it was or wasn't good to allow someone to retire. I also think the beginning story screen could stay up for a little while longer, or allow the player could choose when to progress beyond that point.

Pay to Win - Your life edition by MarcosShiuuri 2019-05-06T02:49:12Z

Fun game with cute graphics! I really like the progression system in this game. It keeps it fresh as you play through. Sometimes I found it a little hard to kill enemies as they would spawn on top of me. Nice work!

2019 Game - Ludum Dare 44 by FatCrow 2019-05-04T00:38:36Z

Haha - this game is super funny. Nice job capturing a lighthearted feel while your family's life hangs in the balance. I'm also impressed with the level of polish. The fact that you have incorporated both a 2-Player mode AND a story mode is pretty insane for a LD jam. Not to mention the inclusion of an intro and story! The music was also pretty sick. Nice job - I had fun playing!

A Cup's Life by Anderssonkev 2019-05-01T01:17:40Z

I really like the look and feel of this game, and the music is great. Love the bossa style groove during gameplay. The scene transitions are well done, and restarting the current area quickly on death keeps you going. I played through to the end, and I found that the puzzles increased in difficulty at a good pace. I think maybe the last one or the second to last one seemed a little easy compared to what led up to it. Well polished game, and a great entry!

Necro-Mart by Lemur 2019-05-06T02:35:23Z

This game is cool! I'm impressed that there's a tutorial as most LD games don't include one. It was definitely helpful for getting started, although I didn't realize (at first) that I could shoot items to destroy them, which would generate a new/different item elsewhere. Once I figured that out I was on a roll, and I was slaying necros left and right! Great job on both the coding and the artwork. I had fun!

Goals by vanLeiden 2019-05-03T00:23:08Z

This is a fantastic example of what a puzzle game can be. Figuring out the solution to each level was a lot of fun, and I really wanted more! Cool color scheme, and the audio was soothing. It all tied together to create a mood, and I really enjoyed that aspect. I also liked how the movement of the player would correspond to musical tones. Great entry! You should consider expanding this and adding more levels!

Kaide and the Bloody Sacrifices by Kritz 2019-05-04T00:57:45Z

This game is a lot of fun! The movement and combat mechanics _feel_ polished, and things like the camera shake and camera following your cursor adds a lot to the ongoing chaos. I also really enjoyed how you increase your HP with enemy souls, which can then be used for purchasing upgrades. It adds a lot to the replayability, and it kept me coming back for more. By the way, the soul absorption animation is very cool, and it indicates to the player that they are in fact increasing their HP. I think the overall mood could have been improved a little bit. Playing a game where you're absorbing enemy souls and making deals with the devil might be better suited in a darker setting. I think the addition of music and sound effects would also boost the mood quite a bit. Great entry - thanks for making this!

Coin War by jjones 2019-05-06T02:18:44Z

Hilarious take on the theme, and great use of physics. I made some pretty cool looking (but sadly ineffectual) jumps off of the ramps in the middle of the map, and I did eventually knock all coins down. Fun game!

LD45 — Start with nothing

ASHES TO ASHES by AkirAssasin 2019-10-09T00:49:02Z

Really neat puzzle game! I'll admit that it did take me awhile to fully understand (and remember) what each piece did, but once I got the hang of it I was much more engaged. I think a small tutorial or even a legend would be very beneficial, but I know it's tough to squeeze that into a game jam. Great job overall - really enjoyed this one.

Entangled by andre-606 2019-10-10T01:51:53Z

Really solid platforming mechanics here. Nice work on the health and drop systems, and the inclusion of a well-implemented boss fight was really cool to see for a LD game! Graphics are really good, and the animations lend themselves well to the overall style. The music does also fit with the overall style, but I felt that it was a bit too repetitive. The sound effects could also be mixed a little better (for example, the attack sound was a bit jarring). Nice job!

Lost Somewhere by burakkurkcu 2019-10-10T01:42:52Z

This is exactly what a LD game should be. A cool and fun concept that really shines when properly implemented. I spent way too long looking for the 4th person, but after about 15 minutes of scanning inch by inch, I finally found them. The zoom mechanic is really solid and gives the game a large sense of scale. I'd like to see this extrapolated into a larger game! My only complaint is that I didn't hear any audio, but the game lets me rate the audio. Not sure if there was a bug or if I missed something. Fantastic game!

Survivor Slots by PeachTreeOath 2019-10-10T01:21:52Z

Great idea for a game! I like that you can play this at your own pace, which is important because a lot of strategizing is involved if you want to do well. The progression system adds a lot of depth to this game, and I'm impressed you were able to fit it into a LD game. I think some music and sound effects would go a long way to adding to the overall mood. Really fun game - thanks for making it!

Shadow Go Home by Algebru 2019-10-08T03:11:45Z

What a cool entry! This has a very imaginative way of navigating your surroundings. It's such a cool mechanic, and I could see it being extrapolated into a full title. The graphics and audio give this game such a dark feeling, and I would give it 6 stars for mood if I could. Great game!

King Conga by Tad 2019-10-09T01:24:09Z

This is a hilarious concept, and it's a fresh take on Snake! Really enjoyed how this played and handled. The wide turn radius combined with the continuous speed increases really makes handling the conga line an intense and skillful exercise. I also like how the camera zooms out as you pick up more people. And of course the graphics and music really add to the overall feel of this game. Nice job!

When Nothing Came by velvetlobster 2019-10-09T00:53:01Z

Very cool and artistic experience. This game sets a mood right from the start, and it proceeds to suck you right in. The music and art are both fantastic, and as the composer for our game, I'm very interested in the process your team used for writing and recording this music. It's lovely and has so much character! You should be very proud of this game. Great job!

Acorn Rush by MrPiedPiper 2019-10-10T01:11:35Z

Really liked the music! It fit well with the cuteness of the game, which added to the overall mood. It took me a little while to figure out what to do with the acorns once I picked them up, but I did eventually get it. Nice work!

Appeasing the Quadopus by dk5000p 2019-10-08T02:03:47Z

What a bizarre game. I don't know what I just experienced, but I liked it! Fun and funny game with cool enemy mechanics. I enjoyed how each enemy would have different phases, each with their own attacks and strategies for defeating them. Neat voice acting too! The music felt a little disjointed and jarring, but I appreciate that music was included (so many LD games lack audio). Wild entry!

VaultSmith by DigitalLimestone 2019-10-10T02:06:32Z

Really neat dungeon-crawler with an elaborate crafting system, which is really impressive for a LD game! The combat took a little bit to get used to, but once I did the game opened up for me. The music did get a little tough to listen to as it gets pretty dissonant and discordant. Overall this is a gem of a game, and I really enjoyed it!

VaultSmith by DigitalLimestone 2019-10-10T21:45:37Z

@digitallimestone Oh, so it's Jazz!

Soundscapes by Kaish 2019-10-10T02:48:28Z

Really neat idea! It's sort of like a "What's different in these two images" game, but with sound. I found the sound design to be excellent. Playing this game with headphones is a must! I think the main issue I had was that it's possible to just randomly click until you win. I think maybe having a limited number of clicks would help with this. The only other issue I had was that the game was too short. I want more of it!

Mighty Mighty Bot by JustusPan 2019-10-13T03:30:29Z

Cool platformer that fits the theme well. Challenges were set up well, and the game introduces the player to new abilities in a fun way. The map was huge, which is great for a game jam! Art was cute and worked well with the music, although the coin pickup sound was way too loud and harsh. It made me turn the game volume way down, which was unfortunate because I wanted to hear the music. Nice job!

Shy Hole by creativ4eg 2019-10-10T01:28:13Z

Very pretty game with great music. The ambience and overall mood were stellar (no pun intended). I also liked the messages received when eating ships, but the message box did get in the way of gameplay a little. I thought the growing and shrinking mechanics were very well done, and it was cool to see some blackholes become massive after eating a large number of ships. Nice job!

Contraband by AdamCYounis 2019-10-08T01:05:05Z

Very well polished entry! The movement and feel is very smooth, and lends itself well to platforming. Wall jumping is satisfying and works great. The way the mechanics are introduced is genius, and alters the gameplay dramatically. Sound and audio were both excellent as well. I did eventually get stuck in a wall when attempting to wall jump, but that only happened once. Great job!

Cod of Duty by Ekoxe 2019-10-08T01:12:36Z

Funny and easy-going entry. It really has that Katamari vibe of growing and growing until you take up the entire play area. Pretty funny that you can eat ships as well. I think the game could benefit from not being able to eat items much larger than you until you get closer in size. I'd also like for the fish to always face the direction it's swimming. I eventually ate just about everything in the ocean and got to the end. Fun game!

MerchantQuest by ItsBamboo 2019-10-13T05:33:27Z

This was really fun! I love buy/sell and resource management style games, and this scratches that itch. Graphics were nice, and the parallax effect works well. Music was also solid and fit the overall mood. I think there could be some balancing fixes with buy and sell prices, but things like that are always difficult to pull off in a jam.

Scrap Seekers by Gonzo13 2019-10-08T01:19:35Z

Neat game and good take on the theme. The art is funny (as is the overall concept), and the mood is generally goofy. At first I didn't know I was racing, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. I also think the stats after each race could be either consolidated (instead of showing all scores separately after each race), or they could be formatted and broken out a little more clearly. Nice job on this entry!

The Legend of NΓΌdacus by dummydojo 2019-10-08T03:00:17Z

Really smooth gameplay, solid mechanics, fantastic art, and driving music make this a must-play for LD45. This is the sort of game that's perfect for a game jam, and it's a blast to play! Great job!

You Are Nothing by Sefirost 2019-10-08T02:12:08Z

I like how this game is all about progression. Everything ramps up from the lighting, the music, the puzzles, and the enemies. This is a cool take on a puzzle game, and I really enjoyed it!

Pug Dealer : An Underdog Tail by robopossum 2019-10-10T02:17:37Z

Fantastic work of art you've got here! This game had me laughing right from the beginning. The intro was amazing as was the concept. The movement, enemy, and dog collection mechanics were all done well. I also like the larger dogs you used to keep the player from leaving the play-area. Thanks for this!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Bonfire πŸ”₯ by ColinBellino 2020-04-22T23:42:14Z

Fun puzzle game! I like the simplicity of this game - it makes it a little more laid back and enjoyable. The puzzles ramped up in difficulty, but it never got to a point where it was 'difficult.' I'm sure that's something you'd implement if you had more time for the jam. The music and sound effects were a little quiet, and I really wanted to hear more!

Keep the Fire by PerpetuumMobile 2020-04-21T23:01:36Z

I beat it on the first try! But I think I got lucky, honestly - especially around some of the water areas. The light/shadow idea is really cool and well implemented. I also thought the music and sfx were good, and they complimented the art style well. Nice job!

Herding sheep by stupidpawn 2020-04-22T23:36:39Z

This is a tough game, but it's very fun! There's a lot here, and it's really tricky spinning so many plates at once. I started to get into the groove after a few restarts, and I really enjoyed it. Nice entry!

Tracer by ctrble 2020-04-23T00:31:10Z

Really good game! The overall aesthetic of neon lights and polygonal shapes really gives this an 80s vibe - and that's complimented by the choice of music (with a different song for each difficulty level!). The speed of the game lends itself to a more twitchy style of gameplay, and there's even an option to _go faster_. However, after playing for awhile I found myself getting into the zone. In that way the game has sort of a tetris effect after you stop playing. My only real constructive feedback is that I couldn't really tell if I could save my ship once I ran into something. Great entry!

Healer of Elric by FancyReckless 2020-04-22T23:32:54Z

This game is a lot of fun, and I played it for a good while! The multiple abilities you uncover throughout the game keep it interesting, and there's a lot of strategy when deciding which ones to use and when. I think it would have been helpful to have a mouse tooltip appear when you hover over a spell or item instead of having to hold down the left click. Really fun entry!

Pull The Levers! by jaoel 2020-04-22T23:24:50Z

Cool atmosphere! Graphics and music gel really well on this. I also like the option at the beginning to turn the music _up_. The interactivity is well done on this game, and I feel like it would translate well to VR. The display with instructions, time, etc. was really well done. Very polished and funny entry!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Let's Go Deeper by Deozaan 2021-04-29T23:43:39Z

Cool spin on a classic formula! Really liked the different types of collectable upgrades, and different enemies (that also harken back to other classic titles) that would make their way into the scene. Also having a high score section is really cool, and not something you see often in jams. The music was also very nice and really helped add to the overall mood. My only real issue is that the web version had some real framerate issues for me from time to time, which resulted in a sort of occasional slide-show. All in all, nice job!

This Goes Deeper... by The Enigma 2021-05-01T03:42:23Z

To start, this game has a really nice menu with many options. I was surprised that I could adjust the music volume, which is a level of polish you don't often see in jam entries. The music fits the mood and game's theme well, and I liked the detective nature of trying to put everything together. There's a lot of content here! I do wish I could move a little bit faster, and at times it seemed like I was a little lost in what I needed to do next. But having the Notepad really did help with remembering things. I'm really impressed with what the team (mostly Eddie) accomplished in such a short time.

Unstable by Sharks 2021-05-01T02:57:56Z

Really cute way of displaying the horse by having it sort of a 2d paper cutout that "flips" when changing direction. The in-game tutorial/layover was really helpful, and it shows a level of polish that many games don't have in a jam. If games show you controls at all, they're usually on a single screen with text.

I did think the the hacking sequences took a little too long to complete as they slow the game's momentum a fair bit. I also found that you could often trigger things with "E" multiple times in short order, like opening and toggling doors. This only seems to trigger the sound multiple times in quick succession, but it could potentially introduce bugs if certain actions can be repeated.

I was definitely not expecting this to turn into a stealth-style game, and it's hilarious that you're some kind of sneaking hacker horse that has turned off the power. This was a pleasant surprise!

Abracatabra DBDBDeep by gamefive 2021-04-29T07:18:56Z

This game looks very nice - really enjoyed the graphics. The potion mixing is a cool way to build your stats prior to a fight. At first I was confused because I wasn't sure why I was selecting potions, or that an automated battle would happen afterward. I think some instructions or a brief tutorial might be helpful, and maybe some hints on what the different effects do. Nice job!

OVUM by mind0o 2021-05-01T03:34:35Z

Staring off, the menu in this game alone is something to behold. It feels really polished for a game jam, and I'm impressed you got this implemented in time. Loved the windchimes in the menu that would randomly play a different tone when hovering over the various options. Speaking of options - this game has options!

Nice job including a story as well. It made me laugh, and it gives the player a bit of a sense of purpose. Very cool to see this level of polish in a game jam.

Gameplay was fast and hectic, and I enjoyed the screen shake effect quite a bit. The visuals were bright and nice to look at, and the sound effects fit the game well. I wish the music was a bit louder - what I could hear sounded nice.

I do wish the game had a little more in terms of instructions or tutorials because I wasn't entirely sure what I was supposed to do at a few different moments.

This is a fun jam entry with an unexpectedly high level of polish.

The Whole Game by NBumgardner 2021-05-01T04:06:09Z

First of all, I was pleasantly surprised to see that this game has a menu - complete with a shop and tutorial.

Once I got going I noticed that this game has a sort of rogue-like feel to it, which is right my up alley! I like how you can keep the coins after you die, and upgrade your stuff for your next run. Really fun and engaging gameplay loop right there. And the speed boost is an absolute MUST.

The art is a bit simple, as is the music. But they both sort of work well together in a way that makes it feel intentional. The music, however, did get a little repetitive, and the sine wave tones cut through the mix a little too harshly at times.

Fun game with a nice use of the theme. Thanks for making this!

Refrigerator Rampage by RichardK 2021-05-01T03:13:16Z

Good stuff! Funny game that plays well and has a clear objective. I was able to rescue many allies once I got my bearings and figured out where I needed to move them. The humor is great here, and the fact that you're "chilling" in a fridge with other groceries and items got some laughs from me. Cool way to display the story, objective, and controls! I also realized I could get some "air" when pushing my allied around, which would let me jump over the relentless milk carton.

Just a couple of notes: I was excited to see that there was an "Options" button on the title select screen, but when I clicked on it I was not given any options except for "Back". It would be nice to have a way to control the camera angle somewhat as I couldn't tell what was behind the player. This made it tough to know where the milk carton was at times. The music did get repetitive pretty quickly, but I did like the instrumentation used. Maybe if it were just a little longer before looping it would fit the game better.

Nice job!

Deeper and deeper by skaminska 2021-05-01T03:50:39Z

I really like the gameplay loop here. It creates a satisfying sense of progression as you're able to explore more and more of the ocean. The graphics are nice and have a sort of cute vibe to them, and the mechanics of the gameplay are solid.

I like that this game has a shop, and I could even see this being built out more to include other upgrades - like a speed upgrade! Although I know it's difficult to include a lot of features in a jam. Speaking of wishlist features, a minimap would be helpful as it's easy to get lost in the vast ocean.

This was a lot of fun, and it has the potential to go further than this jam.

David The Diver by AutumnL1 2021-05-01T03:24:34Z

This game looks very pretty, and the animations were spot on. The underwater setting gives both the mood and the theme high marks. Moving around through the vast ocean and fighting various sea life was a lot of fun - I only wish I could move faster to experience more of it!

The music does get a little bit repetitive, although the musical theme and instrumentation really add a lot to the game's vibe. I think it could really take the game up a notch if the music were a little longer before repeating, or if the audible "skip" before the song repeats wasn't present. This could possibly be resolved by making the loop exactly the length of the music - and if it already was the exact length of the music, then bouncing/exporting the audio in a lossless format will usually resolve this issue in Unity.

I enjoyed playing - thanks for making this!

Abyssal Secrets by thain 2021-05-01T03:57:33Z

The music is nice and creates a good vibe and mood for the game. I enjoyed the sound effects that were present, and I think having more of them for things like picking up coins or taking damage would be a nice way to give some additional audible feedback to the player. The graphics look great - especially the player animations. Everything ties together well to create a really cohesive mood.

At times it was a little difficult to understand what I needed to do next, and I couldn't figure out how to get back to the store once I approached the ship. That said, I did really enjoy just exploring and checking out the vastness of the ocean.

Nice job!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Shuttle Launch by Tero Pulkkinen 2018-04-28T18:38:12Z

What is this, a David Lynch game? Seriously wild and bizarre. The strange atmosphere mixed with the occasional discordant music really threw me for a loop. I'm reminded of games like "Myst" where you have to discover some deeper meaning or secrets throughout the game. I started to get the hang of things after a few minutes, but man... seriously, this overall feel is disconcerting. And that's not a bad thing!

Cowboys vs Aliens by nidup 2018-04-28T18:14:23Z

This is super fun to play. Once I got the shotgun I felt like I **owned** this town! I like how easy it is to down enemies, and in turn, how easy it is to die. It adds some higher stakes to the gameplay. I also like how some enemies will just go crazy and start shooting with reckless abandon. It _does_ feel a bit like I'm playing "Shooting Spree: The Game", but it's super fun so I don't really have any qualms with that. Nice job, and great entry!

Platfarmer by lozzadawg 2018-04-28T18:29:02Z

Movement feels *really* satisfying in this game. Once I realized I could double jump, I started flying around the level like Super Meat Boy! A mini-map would be a nice addition (I got a bit lost at times) as would some music or sound effects, but I know those types of "polish" items can be limited when it comes to game jams. I also would have liked to see more farming mechanics. Maybe planting or watering items to grow on your own. Again, really solid mechanics, and overall great entry!

Stop The Munchies by Sarah 2018-04-26T02:28:39Z

Nice combination of genres! I was eventually able to thwart the munchies and survive. I found that creating a lot of loops would cause the munchies to have a difficult time finding the end of the maze. Lucky for me because I used up all of my towers pretty early on! Nice job!

It's Not Lupus! by Deozaan 2018-04-26T02:46:41Z

Very polished and solid game. Graphics and music were great, and the gameplay of battling the virus was really satisfying! You got these genres to mix well, and increasing the threat level is a good consequence for getting a misdiagnosis. My only negative feedback would be to take some of the low-end out of the audio that plays while text is being displayed. Having that sound play with every letter makes it a tiny bit machine-gunish. Great job!

Total Carnage by DrunkardWolf 2018-04-28T17:41:16Z

This is pretty wild! The physics are really fun to play with, and they work very well with this type of game. I also like how the enemy police cars just come flying in with reckless abandon - even if you're surrounded by other enemy cars! They'll really stop at nothing to take you down! I had some difficulty controlling my vehicle at times, but it makes sense based on the fact that you're driving on sand. I also found the shooting sound to be a tad loud when used over and over. Other than those minor gripes, I found this entry to be outstanding. Nice job!

BreakOut Typing by Schuster 2018-04-28T17:21:11Z

This was pretty tough, but a really good entry! I didn't expect this type of mashup to work, but it does! I enjoyed typing words like "fatty" and "bush" while simultaneously trying to play breakout (and losing... badly). I found myself wanting a way to place my paddle back in the middle of the screen as it was tough trying to time the movement of it. With that said, once I got the hang of it I was able to get to level 3 successfully! Nice job - I think you really nailed the theme and innovation on this one. Fun stuff!

Sheet Music Editor Shoot'Em Up by hypp 2018-04-28T17:49:19Z

This is a great entry! Fun gameplay while mixing in some musicality?? Sign me up! I like that different note lengths have different abilities, and I thought they each played (ha!) well with the physics of the staff lines. I also found it pretty hilarious that the notes shoot "rests" at enemy fighters. I would have like to have seen the music part played (ha again!) out a bit more. Maybe by being able to have multiple notes at the same time, and possibly by eventually forming a song or melody idea. I'm not positive exactly how that would work, but it's just where my brain is taking me at the moment. Anyway - nice job!!

Rogue Race by Groggi 2018-04-25T23:41:53Z

Really cool graphic style! Gameplay reminds me of some aspects of FTL. Very creative and funny encounters - I like it!

Devil's Playground by NullSpace 2018-04-26T02:35:18Z

Cool idea! I had some trouble deciphering the difference between 'sing' and 'dance'. They both looked the same to me! Even with that said, I was able to get the demon to a pretty happy state. He was all smiles until I hit around 100 tricks (at which point I started to fail miserably). I like the graphics a lot here, and the music sticks with that solid 8-bit style that never gets old. Nice job!

Stardust by Linkwin 2018-04-25T23:47:24Z

Super cool concept! I really like jumping from planet to planet, and that your player 'orbits' the planet after jumping. Sort of reminds me of Mario Galaxy! I was able to double or triple jump at times, which got me a bit lost. This is an excellent entry. Great job!

Shoot 'em when it's time by Kamil Kubiak 2018-04-28T18:43:51Z

Cool idea, and great take on the theme! This is really fun, although I did find it difficult to progress beyond stage 2. Sound effects were hilarious, and the weapon firing sounds like it was voiced by Christopher Walken. Nice job!

Star clicker by Blight Radiance 2018-04-28T17:55:49Z

I am now addicted to clickin' stars and surfin' bursts! This game is super simple, but excellent in its simplicity! I really like how the background starts to warp as the gravitational pull of the star intensifies. I found myself clicking like crazy until my screen was almost completely green or white. I don't really have much constructive criticism. I think adding some music would have helped with the overall feel of the game, but that's a pretty minor gripe. Seriously - great job on this.

The final decission by Weareaniceteam 2018-04-26T02:20:42Z

You really nailed the mood on this game! It's dark, but also funny. I enjoyed trying to answer the questions honestly to see what Grandpa's fate would be. I also liked the sound design and music. Nice job!

Super Platformer RPG by Silent Tower Games 2018-04-28T17:11:26Z

The minimal graphics work really well here, as does the combination of the two genres. I had the freakin' hardest time getting past the first jump (where you grab the potion), but after that I was on a roll! I will say that I got my ass kicked quite a bit by enemies, but the solid mechanics kept me coming back for more. My only cons are that the difficulty was a bit high, and I would have loved some music to aid me in my quest. Great entry!

Tiny Planet by pixlhero 2018-04-28T17:31:44Z

Super cool entry, and great job mixing themes! I like how the ship slides a bit, and doesn't stop on a dime. This made me plan my attack before sailing head-first into a bunch of barrels. The trade-sim aspect of it was pretty cool, and I really would like to see it more fleshed out. Graphics were also really solid! Nice touch with the sun going down too. Great work!

Line'em up by arche-san 2018-04-25T23:51:54Z

Super great entry here! Great idea, fun gameplay, and scratches that puzzle itch. Way to make these genres work together. Game really kicked my butt as I started progressing.

Fun stuff!
