Great music! The theme is captured so well as the player only realizes it in the end. A bit difficult but i guess practice makes perfect. Also the dark theme mixing with disco is cool.

Couldn't figure out how to advance and didn't get how it relates to the theme. The menu button didn't work when I died.
Pretty art and good overall design. I love the simplicity and capturing the theme. It's fun to play!
Very fun game! Captures the theme nicely! I like the movement mechanics and that the player actually has multiple possible strategies to advance.
A great game and a lot of fun! The gameplay was solid and the theme was captured well! Amazing voice acting!
Cool little space shooter, music was nice and I am always a fan of vocal SFX. Nice game!
Music is amazing, gameplay and sfx as well. Really well done. Only thing I would recommend is to make the player just a little bit bigger in relation to the level. Usually I don't really like top down shooters but this was actually fun! Well done!
An amazing, artistic, abstract experience that gets the theme best that I have seen so far! This is what all jam games should be! Spent a bit more than 20 minutes and worth it every second! TRULY AMAZING WORK! 10/5!
I really liked playing this game! Liked the dark mood but sometimes it was a bit hard to see, music was great, sound effects as well. Sadly couldn't figure out how to do plated coins and alloys. Managed a Koala and that was it so a tutorial on the forge would have been good. Also a little bug - coming down from the initial pathway right next to the wall I was able to walk on the wall above the lamps. Otherwise great game!
Wow. Really great! How do you even get the idea to make a DOS game? :) Good job, lots of fun to play. Only thing that bothered me a little was when I moved too much left or right and was automatically in the next level, resetting my current one. Otherwise fun to play!
Nice game! Took me a minute to understand what I have to do, but then was super obvious :D Cool concept and a good idea. Lacking a bit on the theme front, though.
Great game! I really like strategy (especially turn based) so this was really down my alley. Like the art and the music, makes for a great theme. The actions and descriptions at locations were well written. Kept my interest! Well done!
Great art, overall very nice and felt polished and smooth. Liked the controls
Great story(telling), game felt balanced and was very enjoyable to play. Mood is unbeatable, music makes everything come together and is just perfect! A great game, fitting the theme! Watching your postmortems really inspired me to participate in this Ludum Dare and create my first solo game ever so thanks for that! Grüße aus München! Mach's gut!
Cool and unique gameplay mechanics. For me the game was a bit too fast paced. At least starting slow and getting faster would have made it a bit more enjoyable as opposed to dive in and not understand what is going on at the beginning. Some sound effects or music would have made it even better. In general a pretty great game! :)
Huge team :O Must have been hard to divide tasks. Animations, audio and art are great. For some reason the name and the cover were misleading - didn't expect a hack-and-slash wave defender (if that's how they are called) - don't get me wrong, it was fun! Well done!
An awesome game! As I was hooked on cookie clicker for a long time this game and as I love strategy and builder gamest this was right down my alley! I especially liked how it was at first casual clicker with planning out the layout of temples and clearing land, turned into a bit of a strategy on building placement and which to choose and was a how-fast-can-you-build at the end. So many elements I like! At first the goal of 1000 seemed really far but was actually very well balanced and made for a nice lenght gameplay! Artstyle very consistent and the colorscheme is pleasant to look at! Music and effects were maybe a tad bit intense! Truly great and in every aspect the perfect LD submission!
PS! I might have had a bug - after winning and clicking replay I started with one of the blue buildings left behind and the cultist count was -290/10 :)
I played as Zeilzriess, Eater Of All, courtesy of https://www.fantasynamegenerators.com/dragon_names.php xD and I really liked it! The controls were too impossible for me to flap the wings more than a few times before I crashed in the swamp but the overall game is very well made and very attractive. Bonus points for music and the narrated instructions. You actually have the voice of a dragon trainer - you'd fit well in the Eragon universe. :D Did you play the guitar yourself or is it synth? Props for a nice game! :)
Well this is just professional work. How that was done within 72h I have no clue. Amazing! Naval battles were a lot of fun! I did encouter two bugs. Sometimes my ship would just do donuts (manual, not autopilot mode) and sometimes the harbors don't display the prices for objects. Should've opted out of audio if you got music from purple planet. Otherwise just amazing.
Really nice! Best top down shooter I have seen this jam, very much liked the simplistic graphics. The enemies and the weapons were well balanced, the gameplay was dynamic but not too fast paced. I also liked to search around the arena for enemies. Well done, cool game!
Good art and a good solid style! Unfortunately doesn't offer much for gameplay.
Really nice! Love the experience - amazingly joyful and humorous. Graphics, voice acting, music everything is just on-point! A truly excellent submission!
Visual style consistent, pleasing and good to look at, however how-to text way too cramped and a bit hard to read. Music matches the game very well. Really like the trophies system, takes the game to a whole new level feature wise and adds more of a goal. If you slowed the game down a notch it would get more strategical and allow for a moment to think - right now I just found myself clicking on whatever was red :)
Overall I liked the game, matches the theme fairly well in my opinion. Good job!
I like the random beeps and bops. Music fits the theme and mood well. For me on the graphics side the player resolution was a bit too low compared to rest of the scene. Game is filled with content and lots of places and nooks to find and explore. Loved the camera slicing the building when indoors. Great game!
@jsec @dumivid @tudvari yeah, i had a real struggle with the physics to get the movement to the level it is now. I must study the Unity movement mechanics/physics some more in this regard.
@paul59 yeah, I agree the plant pot definitely needs some refinement to make it more clear.
@ All of you - thanks for the feedback!
@dilauraba haha, thanks. I tried my best to add a little puzzle effect in there :)
@meursault Thanks a lot for the constructive criticism. I guess I will give the direct controls a try next time. Although it has always felt weird for me that you can move while jumping.
@cheesepencil thanks for finding a nice bug! It's not that chrome interprets the right+ctrl as a bookmark and I have no issues smacking things in chrome, BUT the smack collider is tied to the smack animation which is overridden by the move animation immediately if you keep the direction key pressed. Thanks again! :)
@ropedog thanks for a super nice review, glad it made you laugh :)
@eduardo-yukio Hi! Thanks a lot for a very thorough feedback. I'll provide some comments on it in case you are interested!
* A lot of people were annoyed with the controls. I tried to implement a bit of momentum based realism but that didn't turn out that well. I have always found it weird in platformers to move while in air. I will revise this when I finish and release the game. * I guess the bounciness was just to show you can't jump up through the platforms. * That was intentional as also described in the tutorial to give it a little bit of a puzzler effect. You can only choose one toy per level and every level requires one specific skill to make it through. * The colored strip at the bottom of the level is just a color scheme design element. That's just for the overall visual style and not a gameplay element. Appreciate this point a lot, I can see how it can create confusion sometimes :) * Thanks for pointing out the typos. I really didn't give anything a proofread :) * I know this bug. It has to do with incorrect collider placement/usage. * Thanks a lot. I had a lot of fun recording those.
Seriously, thanks a lot! I really appreciate this kind of criticism and feedback!
@kaisean-games Yeah, you are right! I also recently, but after making that game watched a GDC talk "30 reasons I hate your game pitch" or something like that and the guy there also strongly pointed this out. I will make this better :)
Thanks for the great feedback! :)
The squaking startled me a little. An interesting concept, actually made me think a little and a quite alternative take on the theme - fitting I find! Great change from the usual spend HP to buy weapons (not that I am any better :D ).
Quite difficult to play, I feel like a little knockback effect would have made the game a lot more fun with the same settings. Right now I felt super rushed and had to always time my hit and run strategy and died pretty often. Otherwise nice! :)
A key does not work when moving left in the windows build. Got bit of edgy feel with the dabbing. Music is nice and fitting! Graphics could do with a bit of consistency - the yellow rounded dabber didn't really fit the the black, white, rectangular level design. On the other hand mechanics were great, I liked the magnet feature.
Really cool graphics - love the old kinescopic tv effect and the pixel art is just amazing! Only issue I had is with balancing - wasn't able to even advance from the first opponent, he draws so fast. Otherwise a super cool game! Cheers!
I could shoot enemies from behind obstacles, they couldnt hit me, otherwise just an amazing game, loved every mechanic about it. An amazing entry for the jam!
Props to Ethan and Remi right off the bat, the music is amazing and creates the atmosphere instantly! The art was nice and I really loved the death animation! The game was a bit too hard for my liking but all in all a great job, all of you!
"Use left mousebutton to stabbidy stab stab" - haha, funny. :) Good style of humour :) Music and sound effects would have made the game much more live. Lacks a bit on the affordance scale, and could do with a few more enemies. Props for making a game and participating, I also submitted my first game this compo! Hope you had as much fun developing it as I did :)
Great voice acting! I think it makes LD games super nice and unique!
Nice concept and has potential to be an enjoyable text adventure. I like the simplistic low resolution graphics, makes for a good mood! Feels like 60 days to summer is waaay too long (overscoped?) though. That's either going to be too repetitive or too much content to keep interesting. Would have been really great with some intro and more gameplay.
I liked the effects - both audio and visual, especially the facial animations for the piggy. They are funny. Background sound was a nice beat! The art was nice but the background colors were a bit too clashing for my eyes. Movement was intuitive and easy to control, levels seemed a bit too complicated for me since you don't really see in which directions you have to go to advance. Overall well done!
Like that you integrated the controls in such an intuitive manner introducing the game straight away. Awesome animations and art style. Great eerie music. All in all a very nice game, although the enemies are a bit too agressive/there is too many of them for my taste. I actually made a game with the exact same principle - a cat platformer where you must spend lives to gain abilities that help you advance. Even the cost of the abilities - 2 lives - is the same! :D Check it out under my games! Your execution is on a whole other level obviously. :)
AMAZING!
@brian-mayberry @dragonsbeardgames thanks a lot for kind words! I really wanted to add more world content and action in the game, but sadly ran out of time.
@vikinglord2000 @lajbert thanks a lot good feedback! I think I will continue building this game, add the missing action and polish up some other pieces!
@pierre-f @nick-rafalski @jason-wilson thanks for the feedback! I am also quite happy with how the art turned out.
@mduo13 you are right, there is not much difference. Both of them glow, but the staff is much brighter at full capacity (when you collect 100 gems). I really wish I had more time to make music than to put together just one chord progression though. Next time I guess. :)
@saintchristopher777 yeah, a walking simulator as said by the others, and fair enough :) Thanks for reporting it. I suspect perhaps it's all the 2D lights? The tunnel is randomly generated, but nothing after you despawns ;)
@nocymer @kovi thanks for the nice words! I do think I will put some additional time in the game to add more content and polish.
@studio-gomp I have no idea why you were always jumping. Is your Space key stuck? :D Thanks for the compliment. I am pretty happy myself how the art turned out.
Pretty art, i really like the style. I am getting almost Disco Elysium vibes from this games, which is a good thing. I like the small touches like custom cursors for keys and magnifiyng glass. The camera could use a bit less damping as it was overshooting. And I was able to walk out of the room and started falling indefinitely. Overall a very nice experience!
I like the unique take on the standard go-deep-to-gather-resource type of game. Don't get me wrong - I like those games and I was excited for this. Unfortunately it feels very passive sitting around waiting for H2 to accumulate. More interaction would be nice and some simple audio like even a clip of recorded wind would give it a lot more feel. I would like to try it again after some polish.
Just wow. Absolutely amazing! This is not a jam game. This is a done and polished masterpiece. Motherload was a game I absolutely grinded together with my brother when we were kids so this is right down my alley. The theme song is in stuck in my head, it has nice balance to my taste and is fun to both dig and combat the bats. Efficient Torch II didnt go green for me on purchase. Also, diamond spanws could be increased a bit - I went all the way to the bottom multiple times and didnt find a single one. Only saw one diamond on my very first run and didnt get it since I was short on the torch. This made me a bit stuck to progress along the tech tree. But nevertheless this game gave me a solid 45 minutes of gameplay which i really enjoyed! So good. Looking forward to playing it some more.
EDIT:
After playing some more I finally found a diamond! Also discovered a couple of bugs. Triggering a bomb and going into combat immediately after doesnt take damage from the bomb. Standing next to a block, facing left/right and spamming A-S/A-D lets you mine 2 blocks at once - direct down and then left/right. Perhaps this is intentional.
Cool particle effects and I like the take on the theme. Never got past 91m as the little cube always got me. Art style (e.g start menu font) could be unified a bit. The main logo looks very nice!
Absolutely loved this game! Really nice music as well and the meteorite art was on point. The Earth was a slightly different style and didnt quite match, but that is not important. GREAT game!
Very nice! I like the little bling sounds they make when falling down. I mostly ignored battle going on above just to watch the dudes ragdoll down. Fun concept and well made. Some GUI text at the top could be a tiny bit bigger for better readability.
Cool concept with placing the mining blocks. I love the color palette and art in general. Some audio would have been cool, but a very solid entry. And built in your own engine?! Cool!
Cool game! Like the art a lot - especially the menu screen. Colors and font and animation tie together really well. Idea is funny and executed well. I like the simplicity. Well done!
Such a solid game! Everything felt so complete and polished. Very well executed graphics, I liked the shadows floating around - they are seriously creepy. Overall really nice mood with the perfect soundtrack. Loved it! Only piece I would change is make the shadows dissolve pixel-by-pixel instead of a smooth way as they do now. But seriously good game!
Interesting concept and I like the rolling animation. I didn't really get the hang of pleasing the lady. Copying her poems worked. :)
I love the character art and animation. He is just so cool The game got a little too hard a little too fast for my taste. Otherwise I loved the concept even though I hate spiders. Even in the game they creeped me out by being so fast. +1 mood point for that :) Well done!
Very nice concept simple enough to quickly understand it. As others I would have preferred to have the moves saved between tries. Or perhaps better yet, checkpoints to continue from when you find the opening where to go down. Cool jingle, nice graphics.
Love the simplicty of the graphics. Great music and really cool voice. Just a little counterintuitive for me that going deeper was up on the screen. Otherwise a really well made game - I had fun playing it!
