Interesting but I'm a bit confused. I'll start with what I liked:
* graphics are great, especially for 3D art, and the animation are really smooth * the music and sound effect are cool * The narration is the best part, the twist at the end is well executed
But:
* The main mechanic is unclear: what is the consequence of picking a demon ? The first time it gaves me a power (triple fire, shield, or time pause), but the second pick ? And the third ? The movement seems to degrade, is it a bug or link to the demon ? I cannot use the demon power on the second stage if I pick another one (but this may be intended) * I was disapointed when I realized I cannot refuse to commit to a demon. I thought the game would be: choose power to finish the game quickly but lose the narrative, or refuse the deals and get the good ending. Maybe it was your intention and you ran out of time ? * There is no way to quit the game, go to the menu, or do another run with different demons. I had to relaunch the game every time * The power has no visual cooldown, but it does have a cooldown
So I think, to sum up, a little bit of visual feedback for the consequences of choosing a demon would be nice.
For the bug part:
* In the third level two music are playing at the same time * After the end the menu appear, but starting again just make you start at the end of the game * The third power is broken, it just stop movement (player and enemies) but not the enemy ai which keep firing at you, and there is no way to reverse it

Both the 2D and 3D art are really nicely done! The sound is also well done and gives good feedback when playing.
I do wish I had a moment to breathe when dropping into the levels. It felt like the level would start and I immediately take a cheapshot from an enemy. That could be a simple fix, either starting the player in a hallway that leads to the open range, or a 3-2-1 countdown.
Great work everyone!

@deprecat thanks for the feedback :) Your idea is actually really interesting, and we think we will try to add this to the game, as we all think it will improve the experience. We're exhausted for today, but we'll try your game tomorrow for sure : )

@hpmnk Lol I feel that. I'm super drained too and I'm just ready to relax and play everyone elses games
The art is great, I like the low poly style. Animation is smooth, albeit an animation layer and mask would be great for the main character for the hurt animation.
Also, I think the movement being 'disturbed' is a bad idea. Removing control from the player is never a good idea, as it makes it feels like the game is being unfair and/or frustrating. You should play on something else than disturbing the player's movements. Slowing it is a better idea since you do leave control to the player (Albeit nor a truly good one either).
Otherwise, the twist at the end surprised me, and I did replayed through the game to get the good ending. I also enjoyed the gun play.
I'm actually a bit sad that the game doesn't last longer ;)
Is that a Hotline Miami tribute dialogue I see  take all my internet points, great game haha I just wish the combat was maybe a bit more versatile with more moving enemies etc

The art is awesome, but the animation is kinda weird, I did the entire game doing moonwalk hahaha
The storytelling is good, but really short, maybe if you had more things to do in between demons it would be better.
But congrats for the game, bro

I love the narration and the pixel art. I like that you can choose which powerups you can use with disadvantages. Good job!

the art style is nice and the demons having their own abilities provides good variety ^-^
Really clean and beautiful 3D art! Love the sound. The player movement was a little bit imprecise , regardless, a great game! Nice job!

What nice well polished game. Really impressive for a Jam!

The art looks great! Also really impressed for the amount of time you had. I really liked the fact that you need to take a tradeoff you needed to take when taking an upgrade. However, I wasn't sure what the movement curse was exactly supposed to do, the movement seemed to just jitter a bit. However, nicely done overall!
Few minor things than could be done with the player physics and the camera movement (locking the y-axis) but other than that its a solid game. Oh and also some of the UI disappeared in the last level `¯\_(ツ)_/¯`
Really great job on creating the assets (includes sound). They are amazing. Kudos :)

2019-05-02 03:25
@fanmanpro thanks for your feedback : ) We looking forward to make somes fixes on the player physics. About the UI disappearing, it's a downgrade you choosed just before the third level ^.^
Great Visuals and music, very pretty, pixels art voices and dialogue gave me an undertale vibe, (which is GOOOOD) The camera folloed the player quite nicely. well done! Story was cool and I loved the cutscenes, I was actually super curious what was going to happen.
Now to the only and big flaw imo: The controls were however a pain the ass, sorry to put it that way. I think it might help if one control would be the dominant one, keyboard or mouse. I'd say use the keyboard and then with the mouse you can rotate your upper body for like max 180 degrees? it felt really weird that you run backwards and at the last level the controls didn't seem to do what I wanted. Overall great job for a gamejam and I love the level of detail you put into it! :)

@fatpenguin thank you for your feedback : ) Glad you felt the undertale vibe : 3
Yeah the controls are a bit odd right now, and the movement is actually a malus effect from the demons you choose, but we are looking forward to a next update which will replace movement change with level design changes : )

On the whole, the graphics are nice, the animations are cool, but the character moves strangely. It is not very convenient to manage it. I praised the bug, because of which the key is not chosen instantly and you need to run into it. A strange decision to draw Demans in pixel art. It seems to me that the "low poly pattern" style would fit better here.
Hello there! I enjoyed most of the game, pretty good entry. I will judge it as a programmer's view. It felt to me as your player controller script was pretty messy. The animation we're good, but the character itself was super glitchy, even where the controls were distorted by the demons. Also there were times where I would gain momentarily movement speed increase/loss for no apparent reasons. Nice job other than that!

Your game feels really well realised and polished. It's outstanding. It's all there - nice and fluent gameplay, amazing graphics and sound, funny writing. It all combines to one amazing adventure I'm glad I could experience. Thanks for making this game!
Reading through the comments I see that you are aware of this issue with the game so I won't bother repeating them here. I will say that I really enjoyed playing and when I got to the end and got the bad ending I had to play again to see if there was a good ending. I did achieve the good ending as well. I especially liked the text at the end of the good ending  it went by a little fast, which was most likely intended, but I was able to read some of it and it made me lol for real! Congrats on completing the Jam!
Nice game, cool visual effects.
So I liked the game but I'm not sure how it really fit the theme? From the description I assumed I was spending life to shoot but that didn't seem to be the case. On the third level (I think, the level with stairs) the controls seemed backward like I had to use S to move forward but I actually ran backward (WebGL).
What I did like was the great graphics and general game play. There seemed to be a lot of thought put into it.
hpmnk
2019-05-03 21:39
@simplepotential Thanks for your feedback. Well for the theme, we decided to put it in a narrative way, with demons deciding on your fate, and choices having consequences, but yeah it's a bit light ^^
For the move disturb, it's the malus for the game jam build, as it's written on the pact you accept before launching each map. We are actually doing a Post-Jam build, with large levels and move malus replaced with level design changes, and combat difficulty change is on track : )

I really like the artistic design of the game: graphics, sfx, sound effects… However, I didn´t fully understand the main mechanic and how it relates to the theme of the jam. Still a great game overall, good job!

Hey there! Interesting takes on the graphics, demons were really funny to look at!
I had trouble understanding the controls as it's wasn't pretty clear that demons were changing anything. But maybe I just missed it!
Looking forward your post-jam build to retest it in proper conditions :) Congrats for making a game!
I really liked the humor, but I didn't see how the game had any connection to the theme. It seems you don't actually have to shoot anyone, and can just rush through the levels, ignoring any enemies. I wish I could progress through the game without having my controls messed up by demons, but I guess that's part of the game. I think I liked the dialogue more than anything else.
Enjoyable game and the Linux version worked fine on my less than impressive laptop which is always a bonus. Was the odd bug here and there but nothing game breaking. Given more time to iron out bugs and refine the controls a bit more would really make this. Well done on what you made and hope you continue to make good entries in future jams :)
It's pretty well done, I would just suggest picking a different font to make the text easier to read.
This is really impressive you managed to do this much in that little time.
Looks great, cool idea, and nailed it's aesthetic.
It was a bit hard to read and parse what the pros and cons were going to be of each choice, but otherwise this is phenomenal work for something done in such short time!

The visuals are really impressive! Those environments look otherworldly!! The gameplay was very enjoyable, and even though the controls were a little bit off, I had na unique, immersive experience! It's crazy how much you could develop in such little time! Incredible job, for real!
Cool concept, good power-ups and drawbacks. I like the art! The fact that it is a top-down style shooter in a 3d world makes it awkward sometimes, like trying to shoot down stairs. But the theme and mood are great!

2019-05-04 05:17
The art and audio work really well together! Interesting mixing 3D and 2D pixel art. The game felt a bit too easy though, it seemed like I could complete the level without attacking anyone and just run around and pick up all the keys. I found it was a bit hard understanding the negative effects of each of the pacts.
Winning me over straight away, intro song is of Banjo Kazooie inspiration, right? Also, the way the demons speak to you, classic BK influences surely? The syncing of animations and movement were a little slidey. The shooting sound effect and visual was a little meh also. The demon death and level visuals were great though. I played it in HTML5 and right-clicking seemed to give me all sorts of trouble (even when full-screened), which was a bit of a shame. Overall though, gameplay was solid and I had some fun with this one, great entry.

2019-05-04 09:41
Interesting game idea, but maybe you should have spent more time on on actual gameplay mechanics and balancing? I found the easiest way to reach the end scene was to just rush the keys and ignoring the enemies. Also I'm not sure what the final demons are judging. In two playthroughs I got first the "bad" and then the "good" ending but I don't know why.
hpmnk
2019-05-04 11:50
@weine Thanks for the feedback :) Yep, the game is easy right now, we already created some hard maps, which are 3X larger , and we plan to replace all the movement disturb pacts with power/level design pacts, for the post-jam build : )
*Love the graphic style and polish to everything * The way the minions change the gameplay in a considerable way(reversing movement was the death of me) was unique * I enjoyed the shield ability, and the recharge mechanic made it more strategic than i would have expected intially.
* the combat felt a little slower paced then for my taste in the begginging. I felt like the projectiles were a bit slow

Goes without saying the art amazing, love the combo of low poly and pixel art. I managed to escape hell! I thought that was a clever twist.
Gameplay wise: It felt a bit fiddly - I think for a shooter like this its very important to make the player feel like he has precise control over exactly where he's shooting, and where he should aim. I wasn't sure why I was missing enemies sometimes, and I wasn't exactly sure where the bounds of my hitbox were.
Good job :)
Nice graphics and audio! But there wasn't an explanation on how to win? Or is it even possible to win? What are karma points? Anyway, the game is great and there's little to complain about.

2019-05-04 16:27
art is amazing, the combat feels a bit clunky though - all the projectiles are passing everything and having level with different elevation also wasn't best idea here, as there was no way to target lower ground, also the movement could be improved. but overall nice game..
All the graphics and the idea are cool. Overall its a great game. I just find a little too much inresponsive the inverted movement mechanic. Something to polish but good features. Good Job!

2019-05-04 16:39
Very nice art and good music and sound. The main game mechanics are a bit too simple - the power-ups felt kind of unnecessary. Perhaps a bit higher a difficulty curve is needed so the player feels the need. :)

Everybody told you already, but I guess it doesn't hurt hearing it again: Graphics are really awesome!
I also enjoyed the narrative of the game and the twist at the end. Had to play it actually 3 times, till I realized what leads to the good ending… And I enjoyed it.
But the actual gameplay with the combat is kind of the weak point of the game. Controls are kind of vague and the control corruption later amplifies this even more. Also it seems that you basically can't hide behind obstacles from projectiles.
Still really awesome work from you guys :)

Graphics were amazing, but it seems that your team was missing a programmer because the movement system was horrible.

I like it though this type of game are usually not my thing, art is nice, music too, also it has some issues but nothing that wasn't already talked off previously.
Very nice start. You accomplished a lot in a short amount of time... I'm sure with some extra post-jam polish this game will be great. I would definitely revisit the bullets as they look like oranges.. and they move a little slow in my opinion. Maybe add some cover points to hide from bullets. The art is excellent, especially the environments. I felt that the music could do with a little more life to fit the context, and more intensity. Good job!
Really good looking game however im going to have to agree with alot of people here and say that unfortunately the movement didn't feel very good. other than that it was a great game :D

Awesome mood and a great feel throughout, personally the demon interactions with the voice-lines really sold it in the end. My largest complained is while the 3D is great, the main combat section really lacks impact and juice! I dont mind simple animations, but everything at the moment just feels very floaty for one (like om walking on ice), and none of the impacts feel like they have power, there are no knock-backs or other effects to make me feel whats going on. The demon power themselves where also hard to actually notice (with the exception of the space-ability). So the transition from the talking part to the action is rather meh, and needs some work. It's a game with some great assets and great presentations, with sadly lack-luster game-play, but honestly nothing that cant be fixed rather easily, whats there really shows potential. Great job!

2019-05-05 10:58
Great game you put together there! The 3d art is great and the sound design is very fitting. The mood in general was captured well. The controls were responsive and I didn't enncounter any bugs.
The core gameplay was simple enough and worked as intendend, I guess. The shooting mechanic felt a little unsatisfying. The pellets the player and the enemies shot felt very underwhelming and there were almost no visual feedback of hitting an enemy. I think that might be my biggest critisicm.
The level to level mechanic of choosing a demon and selecting some kind of debuff(?) wasn't really clear to me. I always picked the debuff and often didn't really know what the exact consequance was. Espacially for the first one (something like demon rage). Since the enemoies hat a very basic (to nonexisting) ai, the game was fairly easy and dying wasn't really an option. Some more variation in enemies patterns and weapons would've been great.
Also, I was totally expecting a boss fight after the third level :) Too bad it was just the end dialogue.
All in all, a very polished looking game with some core gameplay issues, that you might wanna work on after the jam! Good job nontheless

Love the artwork. A solidly built and enjoyable game. The movement penalty from the second stage felt like a bug. It was a while before I figured out it was intended. I initially thought it was caused the controller I have plugged in. Perhaps the descriptions could be better as 'disable forwards movement' isn't really what is happening. I also don't like how you have to mouse over the tick and cross buttons to see what they are. I kept getting hit on the first level by invisible bullets. I think they were underground. They should really collide with the terrain.
Short but fun, I liked how the demons at the end had their quick conference in the Good ending. Art was fantastic, even though the characters were visually supposed to be holding weapons. The levels looked awesome, the characters were well done. The music was cool and helped set the mood. The sound was a little lacking, but what it had didn't detract from the game.
Movement felt a bit slippery from the inertia. The projectiles felt like they were forgotten and the placeholders left in. The perks from the demons felt mostly irrelevant, having almost no impact on gameplay.
Overall, I quite enjoyed this game. Looking forward to what you make of it.
The idea is fine, visuals and sound are well polished. However, I don't like enemies, they aren't interesting and don't move enough to make some danger.

Amazin art, drawings, style everything. The game itself, runs a bit weak on the theme and explaining some mechanics as others have said. It's a top notch artistic game! I think it can be transformed into a full standaolne game! Great entry!

very cool game! I love the art. I feel like the movement is a little floaty. but overall it's a nice entry. congrats!
Awesome art, would be nice to addd more ambience to the scenes, to feel more like a dungeon or cave or underworld ... like ghosts whispering in chorus, bats, rats, some flames / lava boiling from beneath the first level, some reverberance to increase the depth of the scenario, footsteps and shooting sfx with some kind of muzzles cominig from their weapons and trail renders attached to the bullets to enhance the projectiles visibility and trajectory.
Good job with the art, it's hard to quickly model and animate within a weekend. I thought the gameplay wasn't the most straightforward, but the audio and theme was pretty good.
2019-05-06 17:19
This game looks and feels amazing, love the music and the graphics. the controls were a little difficult to maneuver, but not enough to not enjoy the game or get used to. It was a great game!

Interesting game. I really liked the graphics and the artwork for the demons ; and the sound effects aren't bad at all, but there a a few problems :
First, the text is hard to read. It's small and the characters are hard to recognize. At the third level, I just straight up picked a random demon and clicked on accept without reading what the effect did, my eyes hurt too much. Second, it seems there's a bug that makes your character move backwards if you stop moving for a while. At first it wasn't a problem, but in the last level with a ton of enemies it was really hard to aim.
But apart from that, your team did a great job for the jam, I'm impressed by all the 3D models you could pop out in such a short timer. Great job ;)

Visually a really solid game, and the demon introductions/selection screen were very well written. The combat itself didn't click for me that much. It kinda lacked that bang and boom and feel of actually shooting at monsters. I couldn't hear half of the sounds through the music, and it felt like I was firing bean bags rather than bullets. Just constructive criticism, not hate. This game could use boomier sounds, bigger effects and some meaty screen shake. Still a pretty good game. Can't expect perfection from jam games after all!
2019-05-07 20:49
Is there anywhere i can play the actual jam version, not only the post jam version?
Right now, you don't have the jam version uploaded at all. This is basically a violation of the rules.

Amazing artwork. Was interesting choosing different abilities. Great music. Also, good atmosphere. It was a very good game, maybe some variety in the enemies attacks.
The art is really great! And it had a good story too, nice job!
