Awesome job! #wearefree
Great theme and atmosphere! Controls a little awkwardly and I am terrible at platformers. It's good that you cannot lose though! I dig the Oh Fortuna cover
Great work getting this together so quickly! Must have taken forever to get the traffic to work. Unfortunately, it's very hard to aim with the keyboard :( Cool game though.
I feel like I just got to play "Roy: a Life Well Lived". Well done! I got 1.1m and died a happy man.
Not sure if it was totally working for me. I kept flying off the map. It's hard to see where you are going and aim, so it wasn't very satisfying to play. But it is a cool idea, and the sounds work.
Great game! Super hard but fun enough that I stuck it through the normal levels at least.
Neat idea! Not really sure how to avoid being shot though. Also, I thought the humans were the shield, but there's also a shield? But a great start for 12 hours!
Currency is my life! Decent clicker-style game, but without the clicking. Fun theme and concept. Cash scales up a little too quickly at the end and there isn't really a payoff besides having a really big number. I want to learn more about this currency enthusiast! :ok_hand:
Great concept. Some more polish would help me know what was happening :D I got game over and I don't know why :(
Simple but effective graphics and mechanics. Well done! Pace is a little too quick for my tastes, I found it very difficult.
Awesome job! Very creative concept, and well executed.
Pretty fun! I like how it gives you a chance to get used to the game before ramping up the difficulty. Cool theme and all the components work well together. Sometimes the game gets a little out of sync with the music, which makes the rhythm part harder. Great job!
Cool idea! But a lot of the trades that customers were offering me would have actually set me back, so eventually I just used the blood pack -> health potion -> gain 3 xp -> convert to 3 blood packs loop, and won the game by converting blood into everything. The customers need to offer the player something they can't get anywhere else. But I had fun with the game!
Cool idea, but it's hard to tell what is happening, and I don't have time to read all the messages. Also the menus feel a little buggy. But with some polish this could be pretty fun!
Life of a currency. Sweet!
Great graphics and sound! I never figured out the 7c thing or what made a perfect or what was going on in the top left of the screen. It would be nice to have a couple practice ones to get used to the game. But great job, I had fun dancing around to the music and making change for cats!
Awesome! Nailed the frantic buying and selling atmosphere. Great sound effects.
Nice! Feels like a mix between Hotline Miami and I Made A Game With Zombies In It! I like the ending :D
The weapons feel good. Different effects would have been cool as you mention. The teleporting guys are cheap!
I think there might be a bug where the total souls collected doesn't reset after you restart? I died twice then won in 2 waves.
Great job!
Nice work! The art is beautiful. What do I get next, duck? Fishy??
This is a good start, but it's very difficult. I can't figure out where to go, and I don't know how to get more gas. It would also be nice if gas only decreased while you were pressing W. But good job getting as much done as you did!
Good job on the mood. I would play more!
Cool concept, good power-ups and drawbacks. I like the art! The fact that it is a top-down style shooter in a 3d world makes it awkward sometimes, like trying to shoot down stairs. But the theme and mood are great!
Took me a while to realize that tab was actually the store. It should raise and lower faster because cats are shooting at me! Great job people, the graphics are good looking.
Neat game! Didn't notice the second tab for too long. Late game options seem to do nothing? Keypad support would be great.
Great job! Graphics and audio are perfect. Good mix between platforming and shooting.
Impressive! You made a fun world to sail around in. Took a little bit to get used to the fact that cannon balls don't inherit from the ship's velocity. But great work, it looks amazing!
Good start. I think bullets need to go faster, you need to regain more hearts per enemy killed, and it needs to be easier to find enemies.
Beautiful and fun to hang out in. Nighttime is super scary! Too easy to really be a survival game or anything, I got bored and went looking for a wolf on the 4th night.
Link is broken!
Very creative, I love the concept. Great job doing something interesting with the theme. Unfortunately it was way too hard for me :(
This could really use an explanation as to what the goal is. The water looks nice, though!
Very impressive! Nailed the theme, and created a ton of assets for a compo. I am terrible at this game but I finally got my hair!
The more I play, the better it gets! Great game!
ashesPNG.PNG
Finally an exponential economy game that actually pays off in more ways than just a number going up! Great job, the fact that you can place stuff yourself really makes it work. Had a great time! PS web browser performance wasn't too bad for me.
Made it to level 14. Cool concept, the level titles are very helpful! Without them the puzzles seem kinda guess-and-checky, but there is some deduction that can be done. Good job!
Very creative and effective! For the second-to-last puzzle, my mouse just happened to end up in the right place, but I thought I had the word wrong because I couldn't type it fast enough :). Had to download the easy version to verify the answer. I like it, and would play a longer version!
Great game! I'm terrible at platformers, but I finally beat the boss! The music and sound effects are probably my favorite part.
Very cool! I like the graphics and style, and it's fun to build a sweet boat!
I had a hard time understanding how effective the different guns were. Is there any reason to keep the ones w/ lower attack values? I ended up not completing the game. I didn't feel like I was progressing because I kept winning and didn't seem to be getting newer stuff. I made it to the second Wandering.
I can there being lots of ways to expand this game. Trading in unwanted guns for exclusive stuff, active abilities, more physics-based combat, etc.
Great job, especially under jam conditions!
Hang in there, little chicky! Creative and nice-looking game! For me, I think it should either introduce some new mechanics or end a little sooner.
Cool concept! There are a couple weird mechanical things, like that you're really just moving plants instead of growing them, and the audio notes are unnecessary with the color note graphics.
I like that you don't have to be real close to things to pick them up, and the voice acting was great!
I didn't hear any background music, and it would be nice if there was more of an endgame, but you made a fun world to glide around in, so great job!
Nice way of having an interactive story. I didn't know where to go for the first few triggers, but the rest of the game was very natural. The woman jumped all over the place during the confrontation cutscene; maybe try disabling her rigidbody or collision objects or something. The story itself kinda had the feel of a "like this if you cry everytime" story, so it wasn't for me, but I thought you brought it to life very well.
Fun concept and aesthetic. Love how you all move around as one. But I don't understand how winning is remotely possible. Seems like there should be more mobs to raise between groups of houses.
Very good game! It's kinda like Dice Thrown meets deck management? Unique for sure and fun! Managed to leave on day 14. You really need to find all 5 and throw as many parties as possible before the difficulty starts to ramp up on day 14 I'm guessing. Great job!
PS - I had to think very carefully about which way the arrows would spin the slot because I got it wrong sometimes.
OMG This is super fun. The greenshirts are useless and I forgot to not shoot them. Also you get some baddie density issues later on in the game. But super well done, I love it!!
I have a body now! Most of the time I didn't know what I was doing, I felt like I was just clicking around randomly. But great atmosphere; the visuals and music work very well together.
Very nicely done! Difficulty was just right. The little notes everywhere make it a more pleasant place to be. The music loops were dope, but did have some syncing issues that I'm sure you're aware of. Kinda wish I didn't give that egg away though.
Cute exponential game! I was dying for lack of zoom out, but I enjoyed it, and I'm guessing got to the end because the waves stopped coming. The waves didn't seem to get harder? Best part is probably the animation of the resource flying to the top of the screen and the number jiggling :)
I loved it! Just a mind-bending mechanic was fun and tricky to play around with. I have some suggestions based on my playthrough.
It would have been nice to know that the spiders don't hurt you, haha.
The shield and boots are not obviously foreground, interactive items to me.
The one-hit kill enemies setting you all the way back to the start are way too harsh for this kind of fiddly puzzle game.
I liked the music but the loop was so short that I had to mute the game after a while. I'm impressed how many levels you were able to create in such a short time!
Well done, everyone! One of the highlights of the jam for me, and a great mechanical take on the theme.
Instant classic.
The punching and effects were pretty satisfying. I like the take on the theme: I didn't start with nothing; I started with all the experience from past games which led me down a certain path. On my first playthrough, I thought the sign was pointing at me. Didn't realize that wasn't the end until I saw people getting scores in the comments. Maybe the sign should be taller to point over the player? But I did feel like the sign applied to me :(
Loved it, well done!
I kinda thought there would be more, so I was expecting the next thing after filling up the bar, but this is a cute little experience, thanks!
Is that really what llamas sound like? :D
Neat game. Could use some tweaking because it is pretty easy to have way too much water and money. Maybe sprinklers should consume water over time? It also seemed like my rain collectors had storage that wasn't counted in the bar at the top. And the music wasn't for me, it was too jumbly and chaotic for my tastes.
But good art, and mechanically everything worked as expected. Got a lot done for 48 hrs!!
The aesthetic and gameplay are fun, and it fits the theme very naturally. For me though, I didn't understand what a lot of the items were and I had to do a lot of guessing. You chose the perfect music!
Great puzzle game! Level 3 really ramped up the difficulty and I needed help from a friend. But got to the end after that. Very clever, solid game. I really enjoyed it!
Funny concept. Wish I could read the text so I knew what was happening.
Impressive scope for a jam! I had a hard time predicting the hit boxes, and I was very disappointed that my brand new heavy sword broke on the first guy I killed with it :(
The roll animation is great :D
PS, make sure you rate others' games so that you show up in the default sorting algorithm
Got 600. Solid game! Played on the web and the size could be bigger. Good music, sound effects, art, everything. Had to watch the GIF before I understood how to score. Great job, you should be proud!
Cool idea, nice interpretation of the theme!
Great game! Reminds me of Aisle. I had some trouble with pulling up the notepad - maybe remove the exit times on your Animation Controller? Love the aesthetic and writing!
Haha! Very cool. I like the graphics and story. Well done!!
Hilarious concept, amazing art, fun soundtrack and sound effects. It would be cool if there were different recipes you were trying to fake. Great jam game!
Fantastic! I had to put the window on the left side of my monitor to be able to close the door consistently. Sometimes it feels like there's not enough time to get rid of a kid before the cops come. But very creative, good graphics and audio work!
I did it! Great take on the theme. A beautiful world and soundtrack. Very well done.
Great game! It was very immersive, and getting those emails was so spooky! Having to do the translations kinda made it feel like I was doing real detective work, haha! It would be cool if it could be expanded to have multiple endings to give the user some more choice, but this was well done for a jam :)
@emmyoop you are looking for https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/45/i-have-nothing-1
It took me a while to figure out what was happening in the intro... pretty trippy :)
@romes Thanks for playing! Yeah, we were worried about that part. We're actually trying to get you to click on the word _listening_ to prove that Ben is paying attention. Kind of a leap for sure. For what it's worth, I've just tightened up that loop based on your feedback to try and make it more obvious. Thanks again!
@sometimesghost So relieved to hear that someone got to the end :relieved: thanks for playing!
@wheybags @themista92 @doug-graham thanks for letting us know! We just fixed some of these quest issues based on your feedback, and I appreciate you taking the time to play our game!
@uchiro I'm interested to hear at what point you got stuck. We attempted to make the current version keep you in a particular loop until you figure it out, which it also tells you how to do :D
@lexyvil @peachtreeoath Thank you so much! The listening mechanic felt like a big risk, and there was a lot of internal debate about putting it in, so it's great to hear that it made a difference for you. Thanks for the great feedback.
Cute game! I really like the funky music.
The pulse aesthetic w/ flashing lights and pew pews is cool. Made it 20 minutes with no trouble so maybe ramp up the difficulty quicker? And you should probably put blood splats on their own sorting layer. Also, the upgrade menu kept breaking. But nice work, I had fun!
Cool game. For a long time I thought the catchers had to lure and collide with the star particles, as opposed to just farming automatically. Seems like I'm not getting enough bullets out of my turrets, but maybe that's because the game has slowed down so much?
It's a little rough right now. I think the full map is not fitting in the viewport, and I keep falling through the floor. Feel free to mention me if you fix some of the bugs and I'll give it another shot.
I really tried but couldn't get very far. I don't know how to get past the platform with the orange box around it. I think the UI might not be formatted properly on my widescreen monitor (3440x1440).
If you didn't produce the music during the jam, you should opt-out of the audio category. I do like the minimal aesthetic and palette, and the intro sets the tone well :)
The art is very nice, but the mechanics need a lot of work to be more responsive and predictable. Good start though, and cool concept!
First enemy surprised me but I had no trouble seeing them after that. Different monitors could be different. Neat take on the theme!
I like the graphics but the movement is way too slow. I would suggest making the move animation 2x as fast and either registering button presses during the previous movement or allowing the user to hold down a key.
Pretty small but neat game. Playtime is pretty short, so it would be nice if there was a restart button. I like the design of the boss!
It was nice to walk around, the torch mechanic works well and the distant firelight is great. I didn't really get what the endgame was supposed to be: will I win if I wait long enough? Is there something in the woods to find besides the collection of tapes? The darkness also didn't seem to kill me. But great job on the atmosphere!
Really cool idea but I had a hard time figuring it out. It requires another window to be open with the key of what things do. I thought clicking the purple circle would fill in the gaps in the board next to me? And I don't know why there are turns if resources all go down when you move. But I think this is a solid foundation for a fun game, nice job!
@kaisean-games thanks for the explanation! The new & improved version does seem to work a lot more smoothly, or maybe now I just know what to expect. :) Maybe if there was a way to scan a planet from afar to see what they trade, that would be helpful and make me feel less like I'm randomly walking around.
I think the main thing this needs now is some way for the game to end. Maybe the universe is being destroyed from the outside-in or from a black hole or something, and you can't repair it fast enough? Or a limited number of turns to get a high score or something. All in all, this is a nice game loop.
PS: props for letterboxing in fullscreen mode!
I think the lives count is off. It started around 3 and then went to -3 when I had about 4 guys left.
The difficulty curve is backwards. The beginning of the game is intense with a lot of people starting a lot of fires. The end of the game is boring, waiting for the clock to tick down (and nothing happens when the clock runs out). Maybe start with a small number of people, and buy more with production?
It would be nice if the red folks (I'm guessing injured) could go to a medbay and heal back up
It would also be nice if the crew would run away from the dang fires!
So I think there is a lot of polish that can be done, but this is a solid foundation and could be the start of a cool game! Congrats on the good entry.
Funny idea and fits the theme! Eating seems to restore HP slower than it is lost by fighting, so I'm not really sure how to best help my little raccoon. Also, the first game my cat got stuck on the far right and kept just trying to walk right. But a solid attempt, and very funny :)
Very cool! Sometimes the words didn't match the planet I was shown. One planet was described as being in the goldilock's zone but was at -271*C. The one I settled on had a high pressure atmosphere and low gravity, but the descriptions of living there were the opposite (no atmosphere and high gravity).
Overall I think the interface and graphics are very nice, and it's cool that you built an expandable engine for the jam!
Cool concept! Felt surprisingly lifelike. Trying to keep up a conversation with someone, but there is only so much I have to say about blue cars :D
Game gets easier when more people leave. I think I could have kept up 2 guests forever.
Those squares are so bouncy! Neat game, it's fun to get it in the cup, but it was very hard for me. Can you really build up a streak in this game?
Great music and art! I think a bobbing mouse cursor might not be the best choice. Kale and wheat should be easier to identify when they are finished. It would be nice to have a few seconds to review which plants I have available before the season begins, and we are also not told how many days are in a season. Other than that, solid game and fun to spend some time in :) nice one!
It took everything I had just to beat the first level, but I did it! I'll consider that a victory :)
Love it! I've never gotten to be a bartender in a game before :) I like how there is a crouch button. I can easily see this being expanded with more drinks, having to do more difficult things (grab the right bottle/ tap nozzle), etc. Bravo!
This is the hardest game I can remember playing. Once I got the guy on blue ground to catch it... Nice work though I love the atmosphere
Pretty easy until the mask and then I got pwned. Cool idea though and fun game :)
Neat prototype. I think you have some good ideas here that could use some polish. One issue I see is that there is no reason to keep more than 1 bed of plants alive, so you could focus all your defense on a single area. One small tweak I would make: on the crafting screen I would just want to click the new item to craft and pick it up instead of adding a button to craft and then dropping it on the floor. Good submission, congrats on getting this far!
Great puzzler! The top and bottom ran off my extra-wide screen, so it would be nice if there was a windowed mode or if the game letterboxed. I had to figure out the final level without knowing its name! I think the graphics would look a little better if they were less zoomed in, also :) Really solid game, well done!
Did I learn what the numbers mean? No. Was I able to break into the giant undead fortress? No, and I don't see how that's possible. Did I have fun playing with bees and forest creatures? Yes! Thanks for making this game and teaching me about tubaphants.
Cool concept, but the UI is really hard to navigate.
Ha neat! At first I thought the garbage had to be emptied. It took me a minute to realize that it was indicating where garbage could go. Wasn't sure where to put the barfer so I put him by the toilet. The camera changing angle made me kinda motion sick, maybe a fixed angle option is possible? Cute game though, lots of fun!
I would like to see more out of the concept, to make it feel more unique vs other platformers. I got to the brick level and ran out of time but did not restart the level, is that a bug?
I hope it's okay that we lost; I didn't know what my spells do. The lower-right part of the interface was off-screen on my ultra-wide monitor. I think this is a great idea for a game! Felt pretty cool to play. Good work!
Works pretty well! Took me a while before I noticed the "sell" sign. After that, I realized it was probably easiest to just buy eggplant seeds, grow birds, and sell them.
I also forgot about the quests until I was ready to be done playing. Maybe just display the progress of the current quest in the corner instead of making it a different screen?
A few of my plots of land got in a locked state where I couldn't grow anything. But all in all, a fun farming experience!
Woo! Thanks for making this fun instead of difficult :)
Baby has plenty of hit points, the atmosphere is great, and I get applause. Trampolines feel kinda weird, but overall I dig it. Those big balls are next level.
Playing the web version, the lamp is the only thing that seems to do anything. From a UI perspective, I don't think that E and Q are necessary.
Hello, fellow fire-keeper! The game looks good and I will play it later. I just saw your news update and had to say, how can the timer at the top of the screen not read "mm:ss Until Sunrise"??? XD
Great presentation and a pretty cool concept. For a jam, I would probably make the game 10 minutes max. I didn't understand how the upgrades worked until 5 minutes in when I sold my whole fire. I thought that buying an upgrade was an alternate way to spend logs, due to the label text. Personally, I would make the attack speed 2-3 times faster so the game feels more responsive. But those are relatively minor style differences. You should be proud of making such a solid game :)
The moving and jumping feel good! I just wish the camera was zoomed farther out. A few times the level restarted itself even though I didn't die, is there a hidden timer or something?
From the title I was hoping that it would be a game where I had to save my keyboard from wear and tear by not pressing the buttons very much. Instead, I feel like the implementation of the theme was on the weak side. But not a bad start from a platforming perspective.
Nice multitasking game. Got up to 465 and now I feel dizzy. It might be nice if there was an audio cue when the heart bounced to help with the timing when it gets faster. Solid arcade-style entry.
@peachtreeoath thanks for the great feedback! Just in case you missed it, if you put something that is too big on the fire, you can grab it off quickly. I would usually then put it on the ground next to the fire until I build it up high enough. Hope that helps!
@moony Thanks for the feedback regarding performance. What operating system and browser did you use? We have seen some problems on Macs with Safari and Chrome, but Firefox worked OK.
I have uploaded native builds for Windows and OSX which should work better if you want to give it another shot! For the Mac app, you might have to give it the "execute" permission if it doesn't run.
@guitarbro Thanks for the kind words! So glad you were able to figure it all out :)
@red-ash Thanks for playing! Consider the moss as first gear: it is just the tinder to get the small sticks going. You should only need one or two moss before moving on to larger fuel. Glad you had fun!
@juice-lizard sorry to hear that you had a hard time. I tried to write enough tips to cover everything; can you help me understand what you were having trouble with?
@davidwesst Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm glad you liked it!
Weird question for you: I see that you have the stopwatch in your screenshot. That shouldn't have happened on its own. Did it come up by itself or do you know the secret codes to summon it?
@yodog @zillix @juako We like it when players are able to figure things out on their own, which unfortunately means that it usually takes a few tries. Thank you for being patient and sticking with it! :)
Great job! Fun to see a different implementation of a very similar idea to my game :)
I played through twice and survived up until 16 seconds left. Is it better to save fuel for later?
I like the lantern, throwing, and body heat mechanics and I think they add a lot to the experience.
I can never get my nutrients + sunlight to total more than 1.5, why am I not getting more income? These dang bugs are killing me! I like the idea, I am just bad at it :(
I didn't know there was a double-jump until I read a comment above. I think the crack progression is a nice way to show damage and you don't also need the counter in the top-right. I really struggled with the physics of getting the box to stay on the button and jumping over it. Maybe you could lock the y value of the box when you aren't holding it or increase its mass? I like the cute drawings :) Nice job finishing the game.
Cool idea, super difficult! I feel like the drums in particular are very hard to see what key needs to be pressed when. But overall a fun jam game.
I underestimated this game because of the art style and maybe lack of polish, but I really like it! The gameplay is very solid and a lot of fun! The bullet speed is tuned perfectly, and I like the idea of getting a bomb after every few kills. Fun pacing going between exploring, defense, and the boss fight. Probably a good call that dying puts you right back into the action so that you don't have the chance to think about giving up :) I died 2 or 3 times, but the first time I survived the second wave, I beat the game. Well done, congrats on your great submission!
I really have a hard time understanding why it is round-based with movement points. Makes it really awkward when you have to shoot someone 3 times but don't have to move. But I like the music!
I'm not really sure what happened here. But creative enemy designs!
Great idea, and it works pretty well. I would have liked it to go on longer. On my first playthrough I won on the first round, but a lot of the text in the game didn't render (web version). On my second attempt I won on the second round and only had to fight one monster.
I think this is a really solid jam game and I had a good time playing it :)
Cool idea. I don't think that you need the eye icon for toggling the two buttons. Why not just have them always be visible?
I couldn't really figure out how to do anything :(
Cool idea, but needs some work. If you fix some bugs and make it more playable, let me know and I'll rate it again. As it is, I couldn't see the destination and getting anything to work was kind of miserable :-/
I had a hard time getting the feel down, and understanding the range of attacks. I felt like I did very poorly, but I still won on my first try. I really like the monochrome pixel art!
Nice particle work. I would suggest that there is no need to have the user hold space and right to finish a level. Maybe just make it so they can move onto a special tile that ends the level? It would also be great if individual levels could be restarted when you die.
One thing that would help with the game feel is if you could queue up the next move before the current move finishes animating. Otherwise, input feels like it is lost.
Congrats on finishing an entry, and I hope you keep up the good work!
Took me a little bit to realize that I had to drag through the target instead of clicking on them.
Nice simple game! The petal health representation as well as decreasing your energy bar are good ideas. It would be nice if there was maybe one more thing to do, but this is a very solid prototype and works well. Great submission :)
I've never played a version of memory that had a story before. Unfortunately I could not read the story :( Didn't catch how memory or basketball fit the theme "Keep it Alive" but the game seemed to work fine.
chicky chicky bum bum
BTW this reminds me of the game that Ki makes in VGHS Season 3 episode 5
I like that the score is in sheep :)
Nice entry. I didn't get that you had to spam clicks on the virus the first time. I tried clicking once and it didn't go away.
The sounds and music work well. It might help sell the idea better if the graphics on-screen were lower resolution pixel art than the stuff outside of the screen.
Wow, I love it! Solid concept, got a little bit of adventure mechanics with the wrench thing (he didn't give me the wrench though...) and it's fun to run around looking for functional outlets. My favorite thing is probably the carpet. I think the weakest link is either the lack of sound effects or the funny looking humans (humans are hard!) But thanks for making a fun and funny game!
A lot of the UI was offscreen on my ultrawide monitor, but I still won! Pretty fun :) I don't really get how the zombies work, they seem to take forever to spawn. Eventually I think my income was so big that I could afford to fight with regular cultists. Nice work!
Clever twist on a driving game to fit the theme! I had a hard time with it, but I like the graphics :)
Nice job on the jokes! Took 3 tries to beat it; ran into each boss once.
Funny concept, and good writing. It would obviously be nice if there was more "game" or choices involved :) but congrats on finishing your first jam!
Okay, took me a while to figure out how to play. I thought the animation of the heart would tell me when to press space. I think this is also the smallest game I've ever played :)
Very funny! The writing and gameplay work well together. It's just a little too frustrating for me. The wizards were very tough and I gave up at the traps :(
Hello, fellow fire keeper :)
You did a great job on making the sound effects, music, and graphics all work together to set the mood. The wind and snow particles are great, and I love the footstep deformations in the snow. Nice submission!
Cool! The fire looks good and feels very natural. Didn't really notice the barriers slowing me down much. Maybe adding a way to build up heat with convection or a firenado or something could be a fun mechanic?
Great job, a fun chill game with super good art for a jam! Well done.
Ha, neat! I've never flown around in a tornado before. I like the cool depth effect. Maybe the character sprite could be mirrored in one of the layers? It seems like some stuff spawns on-screen, when it might be better for it to all spawn below the screen. Thanks for the cool experience
It looks like you have the core thing down pretty well, which is a neat concept, and a lot to do in a weekend. Nice job on all the little animations
The big thing for me is that I don't want to spend all day watching a guy bang rocks, and then run a single gold at a time back to the start. For a jam game, try to think of how to give the player a great experience in 5-15 minutes. With what you have so far, you could start the player with 3 workers, make sure there is some gold near the start location, make the default mining speed faster, and let the guys carry maybe 5 or so gold at a time. That way we can do more fun stuff and less waiting around. Just my 2 cents
I know you didn't get to everything you wanted, but another quick win could be to add an explore task. It's cool that there are pockets of air, but they are awkward to explore with just dig/place block.
Cool concept, dope aesthetic, and the name rocks too :) The trickiest part for me was trying to understand where those pink orbs are in 3-dimensional space. If that was a little easier to understand, then you have a solid entry here with ample room for expansion. Nice work!
5x:star:
The writing is super, the art is great, the music is totally radical, and the theme interpretation is spot-on. Well done!
Only issues I had was that several levels had long pauses while it showed the title (loading I guess). And that 1234 was kind of an awkward place to put my hand.
Well done, thanks for the fun game! :smiling_imp:
PS remember to rate games and leave a comment so that people find this game and rate it!
Fun little game! There is a bug where your speed (from hitting the holes) doesn't reset when you restart the level. I would also recommend making the heat and hull levels easier to see. Nice jam entry!
Interesting setup for a game. I think the main issue is that there is not enough room for player choice. I felt like I was pretty much just doing what I had to do, maybe that is the point?
You should be able to streamline the interface. It shouldn't take more than 2 clicks or a click-and-drag to choose a payment source, destination, and amount.
Nice jam game though. I think the arrows look great, and I like having the entire background be your net worth.
This is great! I love the collect-em-all aspect! Sadly I couldn't really figure out how to make the pictures look good. The fact that the whole interface is on the phone is excellent. Awesome job!!
Great submission! I can finally rate a game 5/5 humor because this game made me laugh out loud
The third axis mechanic is cool, though it took me a few runs to really understand what the guy said and realize you can use it to get past the barrier. At first I thought it was just more stuff to mine before I upgraded my axe enough to dig through the barrier.
The G thing is way way better than crawling back up manually, and the animation is funny too :)
Thanks for the game!
Fantastic! The game is absolutely gorgeous; I can't believe how good the fungus looks! Mechanics are simple yet engaging and you have to pay attention. I would suggest auto-selecting the node when you arrive at a new place, because that's where you want to start from 90% of the time, but at the same time, not auto-selecting it implies that you can start from farther back, which some players might miss. Great entry, congrats!
Cool little game, I love the presentation! I would suggest adding rotate keys for the right hand, so the player doesn't have to move their fingers off WASD. Fun name, too
Love the aesthetic. Great job simplifying the controls down to arrows and a single button. I found the game on Itch so I didn't see the note about the ending. Usually games like this go on for way too long but I wanted to keep playing even after I had unlocked everything. Fantastic!
Funny idea, executed well, and looks superb! I just wish that it wasn't so hard! The repair prices are killing me :frowning2: Great game though.
Cool idea! I wasn't really sure what would happen with my cool "legnedary" cards once I earned them, so that made me not want to waste them. Also, it said I was 90 levels deeper than I actually was. But I dig the fun recursive gameplay, and it fits the theme very well. Nice entry!
Fun concept! Love the music. The UI is a little weird because you can/should just look at the two 2d indicators, and totally ignore the actual 3d world, even though it looks nice.
One issue is that the queue indicator goes off the bottom of the screen when in fullscreen on my ultrawide monitor. Also, when I restarted, it reset the complaints to 0, but not my score or the people waiting.
For controls, it might feel more like an old school elevator or interesting if you had to use a brake instead of pressing the opposite direction to slow down. Is that how they used to work? IDK.
I would try ramping up the difficulty over time. Probably by slowly increasing the rate of customers. I got to $1000 without any complaints.
So I think you have room for improvement, but you made a fun game and the mood is great. You should be proud of your game :)
If you haven't seen it yet, here is a game where they figured out how to show all the stuff you need to know in the game world, so you can look at the cool art instead of extra HUD/indicators. I doubt their music is as good though
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/hellevator-operator
I really like the idea of conducting a whole investigation, but the controls are pretty hostile to be honest. Why not just let me click on the phone/board/files instead of rolling around very slowly? If the interface was cleaned up, this could be real cool!
PS great idea having a notepad you can write on!
I like the art of the guy! Unfortunately when I got back to the store to sell my first load, and saw how much I still needed in order to speed up the process, I had to bow out. Mining seemed to be 100% about spending time, and not about any interesting choices or story.
Incredible! I love the build-your-own combo system, and the push-your-luck layer. This game has so much going on, I am amazed. I just wish my dumb brain would keep better track of the timer!!
@colisan how's this? zhero.png
@colisan Yeah, you got me. Simply surviving to the next level earns you way too many points, I think. Don't tell aboogoost my secret strat!
Woah! That was a pretty engaging story. Not too many choices, but the story branches nicely. That's a ton of writing and art to do, nice work!
Mechanics are clever and the theme is cute! The game was harder than I was expecting. Maybe hand-designed levels would be more fun than random ones? I also had a hard time with the item keys because my hand naturally wants to be on `JKL;`. But very cool, thanks for the fun game!
PS I think you mean *discreet* bodyguard team
Cool game! It was fun to steer around my little drillcat. Took me a while to understand that dashing lets you go through stuff without taking damage, but that's a fun little risky move to throw in there. Bouncing off rocks is disorienting, but that's about all there is to complain about. A solid submission :smiley_cat:
This game is super duper, but good gob it is hard. I've tried the second level 10 times now and can't get it right. Learning skills incrementally over many levels is always nice, instead of being thrown into the deep end.
I think one thing that could be improved is reducing the amount of failure conditions that cause you to have to restart the level. A box on top of another box, a box next to another box, not using a rope when you should have, etc. It would be nice to be able to fix these things rather than restart the level. Being able to pull a box could probably help.
I hope that doesn't sound too negative. Seeing how cool the game was, I got very excited, so it was a big bummer to get so stuck on the second level. Great job though! The level art is super cool, I like the bleeps and bloops, and a lot of love went into animating this little guy!
Cool experience! Following the green dots felt very natural, and the atmosphere is great!
Haha, nice sense of humor in this game. I don't think it's too short for a jam game! The final puzzle was my favorite one. The second one I just did trial-and-error until I got 3/4 of the way through and then figured it out. The third one threw me off a little because I didn't try pressing (i) when I needed to. Thanks for not making me wait for the guy to walk over to stuff before I can interact with it :). Overall, a good entry, congrats!
Good to see a fellow corkboard game! Very creative interface for going through an investigation.
Here are some notes: * One tiny thing, I think your toxicity report says "upstream" when it should say "downstream" * I thought Mr. Richardson was going to a talk where I could find him? * Comparing the schedules, I mentioned "last person to see Mr. Taylor alive" but I did not suspect he was dead. * It took me a lot of random clicking to find out about the Speakeasy * I am now totally stuck after getting the 3rd clue.
I'm pretty bad with names and remembering stuff, so it would be helpful to have a little note about each of these items on the board. I forgot who Roger Mayweather is supposed to be basically immediately. I feel like I'm so close! But I sadly have to call it quits.
Cool game! Thanks for making something fun and new :)
Cool cool idea but wow is it frustrating. I am a Tetris novice but this is much harder for me. I feel like there isn't any time at the top to get your piece ready. Also, when there is a perfect-shaped hole surrounded by pieces, I want the falling piece to stop in it instead of continuing. Maybe that's not hardcore enough for pros but throw me a bone, here!
The implementation is very polished, and the idea is great. Congrats on the unique entry!
I love the idea here, I think the mechanic is simple yet could be taken pretty far. Unfortunately there are just a lot of quality-of-life issues that are keeping me from enjoying it.
The main thing for me is that I need to be able to play without getting motion sickness. If you are making a first-person game, then I am going to need at least an FOV slider. A crosshair is also very helpful, and it would also help with aiming the orb.
Wish I could play more of this, but sadly I had to stop because I was feeling sick :slight_frown:
Clever idea! The actual game is a little wonky, I had to try many times to get the ramp to work. A neck retracting button would be nice, because it can be tricky to suck it back up accurately. I dig the boss battle and theme song :)
@raphiell Thanks for the review and the bug report! I fixed it so you no longer slip around the third level or down ramps
Easy to understand, easy to play, beautiful graphics, cool voice acting, perfect game length. I love it! Blown away.
This is great! It's like if PaRappa made Tron in the Crypt of the Necrodancer.
It's hard to time the catches just right, but spamming right-click basically makes it so you don't have to worry about that mechanic at all. Maybe there could be more mechanics based on rhythm, like if discs went faster if you threw them on the beat? I like that the discs destroy enemy projectiles.
The boss was great! Nice idea to use bouncing stuff for the final boss to turn your power against you. A health indicator for the final boss would have been nice.
When the levels don't feel too different from each other, this game is almost on the long side for a jam game.
I dig the style. Good music and nice use of 2d and 3d in the environment. Good job!
This is cool! This works well with the theme, because it only feels deep when you have to climb back out . Also, the light effect is a cool indicator of how deep you are. Adding the real nice minerals at the bottom are a great way to introduce risk v reward here and make the depth really pay off.
Looks like other have mentioned that the fall damage is annoying at the start, so I'll just say +1 to that
The random platforms work and look really good!
For a jam game I probably would have made the total play time shorter, but I did get to the end and enjoyed all of it! The jetpack and ghost jetpack are cool because they create different phases of the game where you are kinda trying to do different things.
Solid submission, good work!
Made it to the breaker! Those stairs seem a lot longer in the dark  Cool concept, I like having to use as little light as possible, and hope that you are reloading at the right time. Fun jam game!
I like the whimsical style! The writing, art, and music fit together nicely. I think a good game should have either a challenge or interesting choices, but this game felt pretty straightforward. That's probably what I would focus on next time.
Awesome job! The graphics and sfx work really well together. Throwing rocks at the eyes didn't seem to work for me, I had better luck waiting for the wolf to come at me. I like the mechanic where you choose how deep you want to go to get more berries, but you have to make it all the way back in time. Congrats on the great entry!
Haha. Silly and short game. For me, the mouse sensitivity was way too low, but I still got to hell. Nice job on the voice acting.
I dig the chill lo-fi vibes, but I didn't really understand the significance of my choices. More information about the different weapons would help! Nice submission
The link still 404s. Make sure you set it as published on itch! Set it to Public under Visibility at the very bottom of the edit page.
Haha, it's fun to run around, not knowing what to do, but trying to follow cues from the other players who hopefully know better :)
I like it! And the random outfit system is a nice touch.
I think the concept is really solid, and I would play more of this. I think there are some things that could be cleaned up though.
- The UI doesn't fit on screen in the size player you have on itch. You can size UI text in the anchors and use "best fit" so the text resizes. - The walls are sticky. You can create a new physics material, set the friction to zero, and then set that as the default material in your project settings. - The camera could probably be pulled back a little more. It is tough having the milk start offscreen below you on level three.
Overall, a great start! The humor is great, and the physics feels pretty good. Thanks for the game!
That was fun! I think having the super short time limit really makes it exciting. Something I would suggest is to add details like real names and locations to draw me into the story more. Nice job!
A lot of the levels are impossible, which is a big bummer. It's nice that you keep the upgrades between resets, but losing all your money is pretty harsh. The graphics and audio totally work, and I think this could be tweaked into a pretty addictive experience.
Neat game! The simple geometry art style is cute.
One thing I struggled with was navigation and getting kinda lost. I think this could be improved if you spawned in a level next to the door you came in, instead of the middle of the level. Some added geometry to the levels could be nice, if they were different shapes or had obstacles in them.
Also, I like that you have the controls listed in the first level, but it wasn't clear how to activate the item or what it does.
Nice job getting this all done for the jam, including level-ups and a store!
Found all three! Interesting concept and aesthetic style
Cool concept! I got most of the puzzles but had to look up help for the second one, and I never found Waldo. The boss was cool but I couldn't avoid taking damage, so I wasn't able to beat it. Overall, I had a great time poking around and puzzling through the game. Lots of content, great jam entry!
Okay, this is neat! Took me a long time to really get what is happening. Kegs giving "bonus time" confused me. Since time is being tracked, I thought the keg would make the time go up or down, but I think it just lets you do the combos which gives you bonus points. Overall I had a good time, and I love the art style!
Cool little game! It's similar to some other games, but the clicking to run backwards as you spray fire forwards is pretty unique! More trees later on mean more chances to bunch up the reds and get them all with a grenade! Thanks for the fun game
Neat game! Reminds me of those games where you send ships to conquer planets and grow resources there.
I made a few incorrect assumptions when playing the game: - I didn't know what color I was - I thought the bigger countries would have a higher income. I guess they generate more population so they are more valuable that way? - I didn't consider attacking gray countries - Some things were off-screen, and I didn't think of using WASD until I had already won. (oops, I read the instructions but forgot about this part)
But that's it. Besides those mistakes, it was fun! I think the core gameplay is solid. I like the reputation idea.
The levels were fun and challenging. The audio was excellent, and I dig the theme. Great job!
I love the interpretation of the theme! The struggle for trying to sleep in is real. I was a little disappointed that it ended up being a pretty standard shmup and didn't necessarily feel like trying to sleep. But it's a pretty solid entry. Great graphics, sfx, and music. Congrats on the game!
Cool idea where the first part strengthens the boss fight. I couldn't find my health bar though, so I died unexpectedly.
I love it! We took very different approaches to bird games :D
I don't want to repeat everyone else here, but you got top marks from me. I found the game on itch.io and I would recommend linking to this page there (there is a spot for it in the game details page). Congrats!!
This rules! I think everything works great. I had two issues. The first was figuring out how to go back to the build menu. Clicking the big tree is a good idea, but it just didn't come to me naturally. The other thing was that enemies would hide behind trees so I couldn't target them. Other than that, the game was fun, good looking, had a fitting soundtrack, and fit the theme perfectly! Congrats on a great game.
Excellent interpretation of the theme. Procedurally generated levels are a nice feat for a compo game. Good level of difficulty. Great job! Be sure to review a bunch of games so you get a score!
This is great! A fun concept and the frantic gameplay fits perfectly with the story of the game and theme of the jam. One thing I would suggest is to allow the player to get their bearings before Death appears. Maybe let them get a key and open a door just to get a feel of how the game works. Congrats on the game, I enjoyed it!
I think you have a solid foundation here. The concept is great, and the artwork and audio support it very well. I think it could use some fine-tuning. I would start by making everything go maybe 4x faster. Either I didn't know what was happening or there is just a lot of waiting for plants to grow. It didn't look like my spruces were fighting the cars; I don't really know how that whole part of it works. But a great starting point, congrats on the entry!
This is great! Love the mode 7 style graphics. Very clever and works well. Congrats!
Cool concept, and an interesting take on the theme. The main issue I ran into was slightly missing the hitbox for playing a card, and accidentally spinning the world around. Congrats on the cool entry!
Nice! This game has some good ideas and was a perfect fit for the theme. The music wasn't really my style, but I appreciated the fun game.
BTW, the guide says to right-click for buildings, but I think everything was working with left-click.
Awesome! Game was pretty easy once I found the start button. Very charming. I love the style. Audio and graphics work well together. Congrats on the great entry!
Cool idea! The controls took a minute to get used to, but they actually worked pretty well once I got going. I didn't fully understand what was going to happen by reading the instructions, but the game explains itself very well.
I had fun, and it's easy to imagine a few more bells and whistles thrown on if you ever want to expand the concept. Thanks for the game, and congrats on your first jam! :)
Nice! The spinning earth is a true work of art
I love the spooky atmosphere! The bridge took me a few tries but I got it eventually `:D
This is a tough one. I love the aesthetic. The calming Receiver-style narration was great, but too quiet. The graphics are super.
Unfortunately, the game was really upsetting to play. I had no clue that triple-jumping was a thing until I died four times and checked back here. Then I didn't get much farther without lots of deaths and gave up. Maybe it could feel more dreamlike and be more forgiving?
But great work on the art!
Nice! Looks like you've got your sights on making an RPG ;) The hex animations were cool. The best thing I can think of to add would be to allow the player to input the next move during the walking animation, so the next move can start as soon as the player arrives in a hex. I think that will make it feel a lot smoother. I just finished my Extra entry, too; feel free to check it out!
Very cool! I really felt like I was delaying the inevitable :D
Everything made sense and worked as it should. It would be nice if dead teammates looked different than living ones. I liked the hotdog, and the fact that you can aggro the bears. Congrats on a great entry!
Cool concept. I don't think the difficulty selector was working for me on Windows 10. I couldn't tell which was selected, and it was very easy. The controls were very sensitive, especially the zoom, and I kept getting left and right confused. Interesting theme though, and I dig the funky island music :)
I didn't get it, but I clicked everything and got to level 48.
Great theme! I like the story, and the art and music are excellent. There were so many cards available that I pretty much just spammed them instead of trying to find patterns in weaknesses, but it all worked pretty well. Great job! Remember that you need to rate others' games in order to get your game rated and ranked. You would score pretty high if you did that.
Great game! It was fun and intuitive. It would be cool if some sources like Nuclear had reduced rates of adjustment, compared to gas and hydro. It's a good sign that it's easy to see ways to expand the game, it's a solid core experience. Congrats on the great submission
pew pew pew! I just hit so many houses. I like how the doors swing open so you can use them for cover.
I had some issues with the physics on Windows 10. The hitman can get going so fast that it's hard to get through doors. I also had many instances of long stutters, it seemed like a performance issue and the physics couldn't keep up somehow.
Good experiment, nice job!
I like the cute graphics and sounds. The platforming was more difficult than I expected or wanted out of a chill gardening game, and the mouse sensitivity was like 20x too high
I think that hooking up the correct assets is totally allowed in a mid-jam patch (without needing to declare a post-jam version). Thanks for the neat game!
I couldn't figure out the second set of levels :frowning:
Not sure I understand why it flips every ten seconds. When I can't collect the orbs, I am just waiting for the world to flip. Cool game engine though!
Fantastic! It was funny, clever, and beautiful. I enjoyed it and figured it out all by myself π
This is excellent! I had a few issues though: 1. During the tutorial, I put my stuff on my own plate and my coworkers put their stuff on a different plate. I had to redo the work once I noticed 2. I think I need a coworker to serve the meal? If I put it in front of the customer they don't like it 3. I need a safe place to learn this game without all my coworkers being eaten and the game ending. I really struggled to figure out this pizza recipe. It would be great to be able to practice each prep step and ingredient before the danger starts.
Other than those issues, I thought it was super! Great audio and graphics. I'm impressed by how much you got done, congrats!!
Yaaay! Fun premise and attitude. It was a fun surprise when I broke a window. Biggest things I can think to improve would be restricting the camera so it doesn't go through the ground, and making the ball easier to spot. Nice work for a jam!
First, upload a cover image for the game! Currently it just has gray bars in the games list.
Great job on the atmosphere! The music and sound effects work well with the great pixel art and spooky lighting. For me, the game is too long. I like collecting the notes to learn more about the family, but the backtracking, repeated rooms, and falling down holes just gets old after a while. You clearly put a lot of work into this game and I want to see the end, but I would suggest editing down the playtime if possible.
Congrats on the great submission π
A cool concept! The cyberpunk setting is fun and the game feels like it fits very well in that genre. I think it could use some balancing as I was doing fine on the 10 minute timer, but struggled to get cards with enough stealth. I also felt like the patrols would come any time I had negative stealth, irrespective of the ten-second idea.
I enjoyed it! Congrats on the sweet game :)
Pretty silly. I was upset until I realized that I am supposed to fail
It became difficult to tell where my blank spots were towards the end of the puzzle.
Neat idea! I had a frustrating time with the controls and with how fragile my ship was. Ten seconds didn't seem like enough time to get out of hiding, find an enemy, defeat them, and hide again. The music was a little confusing, I wasn't sure if it was even playing right. You got a lot done in this jam, so it's understandable that it might not be perfectly balanced :)
Cool idea, and the sound effects are clearly excellent. It was super difficult for me to understand how to get trains where they needed to go when I couldn't see the whole map at once. The different switch states also look very similar to me, so I couldn't really tell what was happening. But the concept is solid and I do like trains :) nice work getting all this done for the compo.
Best employee! That was fun, neat concept and good graphics. The end screen was very pretty
The dust particles are pretty sweet. I could not find the guy in the image but I want to play cards with him.
Nice entry! I like the style. Starting each level at the end of the last level is a great idea for this game. The particle effects were really cool but it might be better to distinguish them a little more from the objectives. Thanks for the game!
Great game concept! I had a fun time and the name of the game is obviously pure gold. If it were me I would make the steering controls less weighty/floaty, but that's just a nitpick. Congrats on the excellent entry!
Scored 31; "Split" totally wrecked me
This was fun and a cool concept to use all the themes!
Hi! I'm on Windows 10 and it says I need VCRUNTIME140_1D.dll
I downloaded the file from https://www.dll-files.com/vcruntime140_1d.dll.html and the game ran, but quit because it said abort() was called.
@ me if you get it working and I'll give it another shot :)
Cute game! It's cool that there are choices and it held my attention for the whole time. That must have been a huge amount of work, good job!
This is sweet! A fun tactical game, and I would be interested in playing a few more levels. For my first playthrough, I didn't realize that throw is a pickup. It also seems that a mouse cannot throw if it is holding grass, I don't know if that was intentional.
Great work, I really enjoyed tumbling to victory in a big somersault line :D
I think the 10 second radar thing is a good idea. The first time, I died while I was still getting my bearings and then was pretty confused by the end text. I still don't really know what the map is for.
I love it! It is funny and surprising. The graphics look like you don't care but are actually quite good. It's too bad I can't score you on audio because the voice acting adds a lot to the game.
One thing that would improve it is if the gameplay had more progression. I needed some more time in the beginning to get used to things, maybe just have barriers to dodge at first, and then add enemies later.
This is a great game and I hope you get enough reviews to get a score. Congrats!
Cool! Very Snowcrash. I don't understand why I have to click left/right to toggle to that mode and then click again to accelerate/throw. I feel like the toggle should just happen when I accelerate or throw.
The driving model is interesting. I think it might be more enjoyable in a track that is a little more open, but this tight city does lend itself to a more skills-based experience.
I think the abstract visual style is great, and I love the humor and theme. Great job!
Sweet game! It's easy to understand what is happening, it looks great, and has a groovy soundtrack. Level 8 was super hard for me.
Note: in fullscreen on my ultra-wide monitor, the physics scaled wider than the graphics. Luckily the game plays great in embedded mode.
This game rules! I like that a lot of the attacks and items interact physically in the world, so for example you can avoid a stone throw by shoveling an enemy before they throw it. At first I didn't see the shortcut to go home but that's pretty much my only gripe. Great job!
Excellent! I was totally engrossed in the story. You really centered this game around the theme of "delivery" and created a unique experience.
It was cool how messing up the clicks made the guy mess up the joke. I guess that's the central concept but I liked it!
Trains eat trees OM NOM NOM! This is great! Everything works fine, looks great, sounds great, I have no complaints :)
Also, you totally succeeded where I failed back in LD 47 so I tip my hat to you π©
On my pixel 6, all the text was very small so it was hard to figure out what was happening. Love the music, though!
Great writing and a silly concept. Nice entry!
Cute art, and the music and sfx fit the mood well.
Excellent! The lo-fi beats are helping my brain relax. The levels do a good job of teaching the mechanics. The animations and sound effects work great together, very clicky and satisfying. You put a lot of juice into this one and it feels great.
This is sweet! Unfortunately, I disagree with a lot of where you placed the letters. I think going for accuracy is more important than getting an even distribution. For me, the point of the gameplay is to make the sounds in my own mouth and try to pinpoint where the action is happening. If you move the letter somewhere else, I think that takes away from the core gameplay experience.
Love the concept though. I bet this was a fun one to make :)
Excellent! Highly polished. Love the abstract Santa character. I like that you stuck to a minimal scope for the jam and made it great.
Certainly a unique experience! The whole thing is pretty trippy. It felt very sinister but I'm glad it had a happy ending. Good job!
Cool game! It was so hard to read that I feel like I learned an alien language π
Easy to understand, nice to look at and listen to, and fun to play! Great game!
This is great! Everything works pretty well. I love the bell and I like that the D and F actually correspond to where your feet are on the bike. Ragdoll physics when you crash is a nice touch. I would consider moving the phone control to spacebar so you can look at your phone while biking, even though the employee guide says not to :)
Thanks for all the feedback!
@crimoudin that's a great idea to start off by listening. I will definitely implement that in a post-jam version. For now I have added more information to this page to help folks out :)
Thanks for playing everybody and cheers to @khaotom for making it to the end ππ»
@david-yates Currently it only shows successes. I guess you'll just have to get all your friends to play
 HUGE thanks to everyone who played and left feedback. I didn't know what the reception would be so I am very grateful for all the kind words
@eriku Thanks! I was surprised by the level of challenge in recording the poems. Do you have any ideas for dealing with "questionable" recordings? I have removed a handful of recordings from folks who were clearly not trying, but I'm not sure how to balance the experience of the recorder with that of the listener in terms of content moderation.
Very clever idea! It's a fun challenge to split my attention between the two games. The only thing that didn't really work for me is that the music didn't feel like it fit the frantic mood of the game.
Great entry, thanks for the game :)
Loved it! I didn't notice that the spikes were spikes until they killed me and I looked closer. Other than that, it was funny, felt good, set a nice mood, and was fun to play. Congrats!
Great game! I didn't really want to do a second life because I don't usually like roguelite games, but I'm glad I did because the expanded bot grid really opened things up and made the game crazier.
Congrats on the game, and make sure you rate a lot of games so you get a score.
Really cool take on the theme! I like the idea a lot, and the art is super cute! For me, the game progresses too slowly. All the randomness really slows the game down (the action you want doesn't come up, and the pigeons always cuddle, etc.). Also, it would be nice to know in advance the age at which a pigeon dies.
Overall, it's a solid core game and I enjoyed it :)
Hilarious and impossible. I feel like the recoil on the gun is backwards?
The graphics look great! It took me a minute to figure out how everything worked but it was pretty smooth from there. I feel like you really have no chance past a certain number of plants. I wonder if it would be more interesting if you had multiple batteries with larger storage but they transferred energy more slowly, so you had to keep switching between them instead of ferrying a single one around.
Overall, it was a pretty solid game for a jam.
I think it would help if there was a way to visualize the max range of the grappling hook. I was confused for a long time, thinking that the grappling hook wasn't working, but I think I was just too far away.
I like the style and the graphics. Unfortunately, the car drives like a drunk boat (I was using xbox controller). Luckily I made it to the end without barfing. The fun characters are great :)
In this game you deliver the most important thing there is: freedom. I feel like I really did my duty today and made my CO proud.
This game is great! You got a bunch of assets in there. I'm surprised how well the physics worked, and the voice acting was fun to listen to. Great job!
PSβI played the WebGL version with an Xbox controller and the triggers did not work for altitude, so I had to use my keyboard for that.
PPSβI love that you have a volume slider! However, the voice over is so much louder than the menu music that my perfectly tuned level was way wrong, and I had to turn it down so much that I didn't hear the music for the rest of the game :(
Finally, a straightforward, realistic delivery sim. It's great! I had a hard time keeping an eye on the squanch levels. The best part is probably getting to say "crisps". The most frustrating part was the physics of the boxes leaving the window not behaving like I expected/running into other packages that also missed the houses.
Very creative and fun. Thanks for the game!
Excellent! Great take on the theme. Creative and I love how more elements are added every couple levels. Having failure be fuzzy makes it awesome because everything can go to crap but you still might make it! That makes for some very intense fail-forward scenarios.
It felt too difficult but I made it to the end. Great game!
close.png So close!
Solid game w/ a cool idea. I wish more games just said "here's another one" and let you start the next level :D
PSβbe sure to rate others' games so yours is promoted and you get enough reviews.
This is awesome! Love the graphics and music. I think it would be better to not have the tumbling invisible enemies because the invisible walls is enough of a challenge already. The chase at the end was so intense! It was so long that I got really nervous I was going to screw it up and die, but it was a great payoff when I escaped. Thanks for the great game!
There is a bug where the money doesn't reset to zero when you restart. Other than that it works as advertised. I really felt like a (failure of a) pizza guy!
Congrats on finishing a game :) I bet you learned a lot.
The one technical issue that I had with the gameplay is that the holes eat the packages before you let go of them, so hole 2 could eat a package that you were aiming for hole 1.
I think the Opera GX requirement is going to be a big issue for a lot of people. In the future, maybe try another tool. Godot and Unity are popular free ones.
I love the art and music! I dig what is going on here, but I had a lot of trouble understanding things. I couldn't figure out where to put the deposit slips, so I put them all in the trash. I thought they would go in what turned out to be the shredder. It would be nice if the shredder didn't appear until the day you start using it.
math.png
I didn't get why a sketchy robot was trying to give me all his cash, so I hit the panic buttons but nothing happened. I think it was just the money delivery?
Also, at the very beginning I didn't even understand how to have a conversation. I was pressing "NEXT" to advance the chat but my boss got upset with me for doing that!
So I like every aspect of the game that doesn't involve me being an idiot π€¦π»ββοΈ
PS: Tabletop Simulator has a great control scheme where you click-and-hold to drag things around, and if you right-click while holding something, you add one thing you're hovering over to your hand. It takes a minute to get used to but something like that could make this game quicker/smoother to handle.
Great entry!
This is well put-together! It works well once you can open the packages up. I think games like these need multiple different things to remember to check like that.
One thing that I would have liked is if I knew what I was saving up $1000 for. Am I buying a new bike? an airplane ticket? surgery for my cat? Show me the human element :)
Good job, congrats on the great results!
Very spooky, the interlacing shader is a cool effect. Looking at a scene, I had a really hard time telling where the transition areas to adjacent scenes where. Also, it would be great if the "Press E" prompt didn't get smaller when deeper in the scene.
The player on this page was too small for me, but the screen goes black when I go fullscreen, so I had to play the version on itch.io
The concept is great and I think it's a smart take on "delivery".
Very interesting experimental game. I definitely caught myself contradicting my earlier sermons.
This is so cute! These two are much better at dates than me. And of course I have no idea what she was saying because I was just thinking about what I was going to say next π
Fun combination of genres :)
Cute game! It's fun dodging the raccoons and everything is pretty satisfying. My last house was yellow and it was spawning two packages at a time, and the raccoons had no prayer of catching me so I gave up at 1625pts. Great submission!
PSβhow did you get shadows off the 2d elements? I have never been able to figure that out.
@chailoti Thank you so much!! ππ»
I think this is a fantastic idea! I have a lot of feedback but I think all the ideas are great.
I would advise against putting the levels in random order. The first time someone sees a certain element, they are going to not know how it works and screw it up. If you think about how levels work in a Mario game like Super Mario 3D world, they always give the player a sandbox to experiment with a new mechanic before then applying the mechanic in a straightforward way and then new and interesting ways, and combining it with other stuff. I would try doing the same thing here.
The jumping felt floaty to me, and I had a hard time judging when I would land. I never successfully landed in an alligator mouth. You could spend some time working on how that works. Specifically I would try making you come down faster, and lowering the angle of the camera so it is more side-on and less overhead.
I don't think the timer is necessary. It seems like it it telling the game when to load a new level segment, and the user doesn't need to know that. Also the levels are different lengths, so it might be better to have each segment have a trigger that the boat hits that loads the next segment.
That's pretty much it. I enjoyed it. Congrats on the cool game :)
I tried twice and couldn't figure out how to get to a good spot. I can't make enough money to trade for food to feel my people, so they all die. I thought if I settle them as soon as they arrive then they can feed themselves but that doesn't seem to be the case. A great idea though and it has potential.
Wow, no-one has called me a "good enough" gardener before π
Cute and enjoyable! Be sure to rate games so you get a score :)
Cool! I love the take on the theme. I think it's a solid foundation that can be built on. I had fun playing a totally different style of unpacking game than the one my team came up with :)
I got stuck on level three :(
Solid game idea though, and it works great :)
Go team Space Ltd!!
Creative and fun! It would be nice if there was a button to wash the entire canvas with a single color. Other than that, no complaints! Great entry :)
@nathan-franck you need to open up the crates and luggage to unpack furniture and items. Right click to open and close them :)
@hawkin Yes, the shelves are weird. The first one you see must be slid to an open floor tile next to where it starts. The second one can be picked up and placed on top of it. I just pushed a fix for the bug you encountered where you can pick up the second one first.
Here's my advice: 1. Open up the floor space above the shelves (where the duck is in your picture) 2. Drag the first shelf unit out of the box 3. Pick up and place the second shelf unit on top of the first 4. Once assembled, you can start loading the shelves with certain items.
Good luck, and thanks for playing :)
@tiseno The table legs are the base of a piece of furniture. They are heavy so they must be slid into an open floor tile directly adjacent to where they are in the box. Once the legs are on the floor, the top can be placed onto them. I hope this helps! :)
@hawkin I saw that. I think you got the bug where you actually put the second piece down first. The base piece can only go on an adjacent spot and the top piece can be placed anywhere.
@boyar Thanks for the very detailed review with some good ideas! I'm glad you liked it.
As for your quest, I'm afraid I'm way ahead of you...I completed the tour several days ago π
Cool little game, it's always fun to make money :)
I found that I wanted to pick up and rearrange cargo that was already on board, and it would have been nice to see a preview of the cargo before I place it. I had fun! Thanks for not making me pay for fuel.
Go team Space Ltd!
I love this game! The core concept is super basic but you added so many genius layers on top like composite buildings and demolition orders. Very well designed gameplay, it was very fun. Graphically everything works great. It would be nice to have a different "texture" or pattern for each color for colorblind folks. A huge amount of polish and content for a jam game as well. Congrats on the fantastic entry and way to represent Team Space Ltd! ππ»
Cool take on a packing game. The different tile effects and upgrades give it some interesting depth. The "S" key shortcut is a life-saver. It would be nice to see the current balance of the shipment.
Go team Space Ltd!
Cool idea! Looks like a few things are missing but I like it so far :)
PS: You can opt-out of categories like Audio if your game doesn't include it.
Cute puzzler! It was pretty easy for me but I don't know anything about making puzzle games. Maybe if the areas of effect were different, like a quasar affects a whole row or column, something like that.
Always good to see another "Space Ltd" in the world :)
Extremely frustrating but in an almost funny way. I feel like the jars should only cost $5 and it would be nice to have a keyboard shortcut for buying and selling jars. Creative concept
Excellent premise which was a perfect take on the theme. I ended up being way too picky and sent the boss up alone :D Great entry and go team Space Ltd!
Unique movement mechanic was cool to play with. I like how colliding with the trade goods sends you spinning off  Fun little game and a satisfying end for sure. Go Team Space Ltd!
I'm stuck on level two :( I keep getting stuck when walking on tiles: this shouldn't be happening if you are using a sphere or capsule collider for the character
A game so nice I played it twice :) I dig the chill vibe. I guess it would be nice if I looked more like a tree. Thanks for the fun game :D
Let me know when you reupload the game with all the pieces :)
I don't think it's 100% working for me. Here's what it does: https://youtu.be/-hoNpEOPXcg
I kept running out of space, so I guess you hit the theme perfectly :D I liked the different attacks; the God-Emperor was certainly a surprise.
Great graphics! It was tricky to shoot because the lasers fire in the direction of the little man instead of where the camera is pointing. You got a lot done in a weekend, nice entry!
Go team Space Ltd!
This isn't my usual genre but I liked it! The big variety of drops is great. The guns are satisfying. The screen shake is cool. I just kept running out of ammo at inopportune times... I think part of the HUD was off-screen on my extra wide monitor.
Very clever! My spatial reasoning skills are very poor, so I was relieved that I didn't have to do anything harder than that final level π I liked it, great job! One note is that it took a while to download and performance wasn't great in the browser (Chrome). Might have been a fluke but I wonder if you could optimize it a little bit. Go team Space Ltd!
The graphics are great! Unfortunately I am super terrible and keep dying instantly, so I have no hope of completing these statues :( it would be great if it was more forgiving.
Great submission, especially for a first time! The space-saving machine was a funny take on the theme. It would be nice if it got harder as it went along but you got a solid core concept implemented. I think this is the prequel to my game. Go team Space Ltd!
Cool concept! Very difficult. I tried the second level about 20 times and gave up :( it was too hard to tell where the platforms are, and I found it to be pretty frustrating. With some fine-tuning though it could be pretty good. Congrats on your first Ludum Dare :)
PS: The braziers look like spikes. Since spikes are such a common obstacle in platformers, you might want to make them look more inviting.
Very creative! I laughed. I clicked. I dragged. I felt like a good capitalist. It would be nice if more interesting things happened as the game progressed to increase the complexity, but it was a fun few minutes :)
Go team Space Ltd!
That was pretty crazy. Very silly and everything fit together nicely. I think it works well!
Go team Space Ltd!
Excellent! The graphics are great, the gameplay is simple yet engaging, and the Latin is ππ»
Excellent! It's slightly wonky on ultrawide but I won't fault you for that. Top marks!
Fun idea! I struggled a little bit. At first I didn't understand how the gems work when summoning. Then I had a hard time getting the game to recognize my squares. But I love the flute sounds and bamboo art and I liked parading around with my animals :)
This is good! I was defeated on round 30. I think having the logistics guys running around building and repairing everything really kicks things up a notch. To tweak the game I would suggest making things cheaper and less effective so the player has more to do and is not waiting around so much. Also the tank exploding sound effect is too loud. Other than that, it's a pretty solid foundation. I like being able to hold shift and quickly deploy lots of sandbags.
40150 and a cup of coffee!
Pretty excellent! I didn't really understand how points were being calculated but I had a fun time. Or, as I said to my boss, "spooky spooky spooky spooky".
I'm bummed that I wasn't able to play this during the rating period because it is so good! I love the concept and the mood. I think it might be nice if the flowers had shadows so you could more easily place them in 3D space. I also really wish this silly bee would stop rotating! But awesome job!!
Also...the music is very good, and the game has just the right amount of juice w/ particles and the overspeed camera change. I feel like the camera is a little off-center towards the right side of the level? Also my monitor is 3440x1440 and the bee goes off camera when I try to get the flowers to the left.
Ooh heck yeah, that was cool! I was hoping I'd get to stab the big eye in the middle once all the other spots were taken care of. Nice job, it all works pretty well :)
Very cute! Boy, I guess I screwed some stuff up and there's no going back :(
The first thing I did was put a minotaur in the first pen, but that only breaks even so I don't really get the point of that creature. I also couldn't tell why my cordon bleu was sad.
Fun, and a cool aesthetic for a mini horror game :) It's great that you can't see the pet's vitals when you are hunting. Good ramp up of needs so that the game has a reasonable length and doesn't go on forever. Well executed!
This game is so clever! It's pretty funny in that I come up with a plan in my head and then the show is just pure chaos. Even my past performances are just getting ruined all over the place. I love it! Very original and a perfect execution of the theme.
I saved Nebuville! The upgrades kept it interesting, and the end was surprising, tense, and fun! I think it works great, and the different sounds plus the sky effects make it a pleasant experience. Great entry!
Very cool! Nailed the mood. This could certainly be the bones for a full release if you could build some more puzzle and mystery elements into it. Great job!
Very cool, I enjoyed it! I really wanted my ducks to heal between battles, at least a little bit. Also, I feel like the cards in my hands sometimes rearranged themselves and I would find myself accidentally playing the wrong card?
Other than that, a very nice spire-like :)
Cute! I like the different sound effects for the different food.
I think that one of the great things about Katamari is the feeling of catharsis you get from finally being able to eat some things that were annoying or restricting you earlier on, like a fence reining you in or enemies/obstacles pestering you. I didn't get a lot of that in this game, other than the trees at the end. I think there's a good opportunity to add some of that in the level design to make the player feel like they are progressing and accomplishing things.
Nice entry :)
Very cool! I love the art and the cool names of the guys. For me, the main loop of fusing was difficult because of comparing 6 numbers to 12 other numbers. It would be nice to have the graphics be more analog, like seeing the two parents and the child lined up with a bar representing each stat.
I beat the first seven battles pretty early on but wasn't able to beat the eighth one.
Great entry! Definitely a great vibe.
Wow, this game really brings the energy! It would be great to have a minute to come to grips with the controls before being thrown into a battle, but I get what you're going for and you got a crazy amount of stuff done!
I died on the third battle. The character design for that enemy is simply a masterpiece β¨
Some notes: - The settings didn't seem to change anything. I couldn't get out of fullscreen or change the resolution. - The health bars all showed some life left when my dudes were dead, possibly from being on an ultrawide monitor. Screenshot 2024-10-08 171523.png
Great entry! It's manic and silly and I dig it.
Great entry! Nice and simple. Entertaining, surprising, funny, and it looks great! Congrats :)
This game rules! I can think of a lot of things I want added, which is a really good sign :). Top of my list would be a peaceful mode because those green fish are so mean and it makes me sad when they eat my koi. The changing color scheme is a great addition to make replays feel fresh.
Feels great, the music is perfect, and I even love the logo! Great entry.
Tab did not go to full-screen for me. I'm on Windows 11 with an ultrawide monitor.
Screenshot 2024-10-08 170418.png
Nice! A great first game. The upgrades were creative and fun to unlock.
Fantastic!
It took me a few minutes to figure out that artillery was essentially limitless. And I was caught off guard when the German charge got to my trench very suddenly. I think the mood and theme are spot-on. An excellent jam game. Well done!
I love it! A perfect jam game. Simple, engaging, and on-theme. And a 5/5 audio experience as well. Great job, be sure to get enough ratings this week!!
Very cool! Easy to understand and satisfying to play all the way to the end.
Looks like a good start! Just need some more mechanics and levels
This was so chill! It was very easy and then it was impossible  It took me too long to change radio frequencies, so the boats collided.
I love the radio conversations though
Pretty sweet! It was indeed very difficult, the book-reader was my demise. Very good presentation, love the audio and story.
I saved the guy! My advice is to make sure players run into locks before they run into keys. On my playthrough I found the power switch and the power source before even visiting the bridge, and the crowbar is on the way to the locked door, so I didn't feel like I was solving anything. It's nice to first encounter a lock (the door is jammed) and then have to go looking for a key (crowbar). Thanks for the game!
This is very cool...I feel like the bones are here for a really cool game. The first round, I was trying to deduce what the signals were that the cats were already using. I think that could be a fun variant instead of working with signals that are explained to you. Or maybe you and your partner cooperate on signals, but in the game it's also important to decode the other team's signals.
The art is so good, I love the charming cats. And I think the other team gets more and more suspicious as time goes on which is such a good touch.
One frustrating thing about the card game is that if you want to get 15 and the numbers only go up to 10, then numbers 1β4 are just bad. A 5 is always better.
Thanks for the cool game! Be sure to play and rate other games so you can get 20 reviews!
I tried, I really did.
The first time, I didn't understand the recorder or what I was supposed to be doing. Then I checked out the gallery which is so awesome and gave the game another try. Finally I think I figured it out, but my coworker keeps telling me it's trash. I get unintelligible static every time even though I think I'm doing a good job at getting all the clicks??
Still, very cool, nailed the theme. Love the art and the score.
@carraka gotcha. If you had been able to finish the grading in time it would have been an easy 5 stars across the board. As-is, you'll have to settle for innovation, theme, graphics, and audio. Really well done! Be sure to rate enough other games so you get 20 reviews here.
Pretty neat concept! I didn't understand the band strengths in the bottom-left corner. I think I encountered a bug. I destroyed a lot of enemies in a room before I entered it. When I entered the room, all the doors closed like normal. But they didn't reopen when I killed the last enemy.
A great take on the traffic signal subtheme, and a truly deep and crunchy pun for a title
For some reason, it didn't start counting journeys until I had already been playing for 5 minutes or so. I like having to manage traffic as a person instead of via an abstract interface. The graphics are great and the AI feels really nice in the way that it tries to swerve around you.
weeooweeooweeooweeoo. Awesome job! It was hard to match the very high frequency tremolo & vibrato but I did it!! :musical_note:
I had a very difficult time with the controls. It seems like it should have been easy to control because what I want to do is very simple. I think the art is great but unfortunately the gameplay was too clunky for me. Also when I lost it says I won  But I dig the concept and a tactical game where your orders have to physically get to your units has been on my mind for years and years, so props for executing on it.
@mattlevonian great feedback, I think having targets to hit would make it a lot more fun and we never even talked about it.
@flowerfield-games nobody ever said the goal was to cause mayhem...should we be worried about you?
Cool take! I also did traffic signals and I like your approach of trying to orchestrate a larger area and micromanage multiple intersections. I think the graphics are cute.
I had a hard time finding the cop cars, so I would hear the siren and then spend a long time looking around. I think that "Switch" is Uno reverse but I would like to see the queue of patterns so I know which direction I need them to go in.
I also had one intersection deadlock which I see you mentioned above. 4 cars in the inside lanes.
Clicking on cars to see their goal isn't in your instructions but it could help to know that's possible. Thanks for the game!
Fun idea! Unfortunately the web build isn't working great for me. I kept getting cars stuck in intersections. When I finally got through the first level it said "Oh no, you mess something up"
Very cool! I got stuck on level 8, I couldn't tell what to do to fix the wave. Love the graphics and sfx!!
Cool! Honestly I didn't understand how it was a "game" until the second day, but then I really appreciated having day 1 to practice π
I feel like I got an error on day 3 when there was 1 speargnoll and 1 bowgnoll attacking, and I used yellow hand, torch, and bow, and got the "that's wrong" sound effect.
Overall it's clever, and nails the theme.
@holysparks I would like to wave the torch with my hand kick the gong with my foot, and blow the horn with my mouth, thank you very much
Hilarious concept and a fun mood. Unfortunately the arrow keys stop working about 30 seconds in. It would be so cool if you had a discord bot or something so players had to actually respond to text messages on their physical phone while playing the game
@lenny-rudeberg yes! I played again and you're right. The phone must have gone flying and I didn't notice before. Once I pick the phone back up I can text again.
Great game! The last level took a lot of retries due to the amount of foresight required. But it was very satisfying. Having multiple goals (power, clean, get to base) allows for a lot of neat situations. Also, props on creating so many assets. It was nice to be able to vacuum a variety of things
My only note is that the dirt can be hard to see on the noisier patterned floors. Thanks for the great game!
Awesome! Very clever and a perfect take on the theme. I personally had a difficult time distinguishing the sounds in the later levels when two animals were playing at once.
Cool concept and beautiful graphics! I spent the first half of my time trying to read and understand the dowser, which got me nowhere. Once I noticed that all the treasure was in the long boxes, I spent the second half sprinting around and opening every one of those I found, which was much more profitable. I think the straw-laying is a great feature but I didn't rely on it for my playthrough. I'm glad that I could see the square hole in the ceiling, that was critical!
Pretty cool! I wish that doing an action didn't interrupt the flow though. It wasn't challenging so I wanted to keep ticking through it. Maybe if there was more of a puzzle to which pattern to use, or if there was a time pressure to pick the right one quickly. I dunno. But as a jam game I think it's great.
PS my last jam game was also a rhythm instructions game and it was fun to see your totally different take on it
So cool! It is very clever and fun. The difficulty went from zero to a hundred, it took me a lot of tries to complete the final level and honestly I didn't realize the difference between the phone call and voice message until the end.
I ran into some jank but it's a great proof of concept for a gam!
The art is really fun, it reminds me of Advance Wars. To be honest I was confused while playing it, I couldn't keep track of whose turn it was, possibly because we kept rolling 3 of a kind? It was fun though!
Please fix the bug that makes the animals always sad
Cute game and I like it! I don't really know what makes them win or lose though...
This game is so cool! Sadly, I can't understand what's happening. I heard music from the radio once, and tried to get to where it was coming from, but I don't know how to "match the frequency". And after a while I couldn't hear anything on any frequency. Very creative though! I think it just needs to help the player learn a little more.
