Chef Jeff wants you! by jkniest 2022-10-21T03:38:43Z
Even with the tutorial, I got pretty confused what I was supposed to be doing. The 10 second timer made it difficult to learn. The chef's hat and artwork are amazing!

Even with the tutorial, I got pretty confused what I was supposed to be doing. The 10 second timer made it difficult to learn. The chef's hat and artwork are amazing!
It was challenging to figure out what to do. There were too many symbols and rules for me to figure it out.
I was worried it would need the vc runtime installed. Ug. The abort probably means my code is busted looking for something on your system. Sorry!
I got the emscripten html version of my game working and embedded it on this page. I just got it working, so it didn't make it in time for the competition. The resolution is lower then I design it for and I'm not scaling the images well so it doesn't look quite right.
Nice! Cool effects. It might have been better to give the ball a little momentum so it was a little harder to control.
Nice! I like how the pipes connect and you are feeding the plants. I got a bit confused about what was going on. I think the visuals of the fluid could have been a bit clearer. I couldn't figure out the rules for the filter.
Wow Dude! That totally captured the feeling of an escape room! Maybe you have some experience IRL? Those were pretty amazing puzzles for an LD game.
Nice! Well done. It could use an effect when a monster was damaged but not killed. I couldn't tell if I was hurting the Angry Sun monster. It should probably have left the UI up when making upgrade decisions to help with deciding what you want. I think it could have followed the theme a little better. Are you harvesting bunnies, ducks, and bugs? But overall amazing job getting something fun completed!
Amazing! This is exactly the type of game I want to play for Ludum Dare! I love your style.
Amazing mood! The music, fonts, and art all worked together to create atmosphere! Nice!
Nice! 2023-01-26 21_29_17-Harvest Insula.png
I'm getting about 5 fps which makes it pretty challenging to play.
Amazing colors! The background and character art are amazing and have a lot of style. The music and sound effects are create a great mood that perfectly matched the art.
Controls for left-right were challenging for me. I made if through the levels without moving vines ok, but as soon as there were timing puzzles I could hardly play the game. Unless you are trying to make a "hard to control" game, I might try to come up with a more intuitive scheme. Also, I just always held the right mouse button down. Maybe you could simplify it by always showing the jump cursor and removing the right mouse button control.
I really wanted to touch the lanterns and died on many level forgetting that I didn't need to do that. Lolz.
Overall amazing game with a great mood.
I played a handful of times and my high score was 1. Hmm. I wonder what that says about me? I might need a turned based mode for this lolz.
Amazing! You nailed the mood with the sounds and dark graphics. Each of your games is different from your other games. Awesome to see such experimentation. 5 Stars.
Amazing puzzle game! How did you do that so fast? Loved the vibe. One of the best LD games I've played.
Amazing art and sound! Well done.
Nice! I love the take on the theme.
Little bug: the next button jammed for me too each time, but I was able to restart at the next level.
Great game! Unlike the other comments, I thought it was pretty hard! But I'm not great at twitchy games. Once I figured out that I just hold down the space bar and left mouse it got much easier to play. Maybe a mode with simpler controls?
Owned it. I fell like a sucker for how much time I put into my game, and it's nothing compared to this.
Nice! Awesome vibe. Amazing graphics and sound.
Nice! Awesome that you did this with your own game engine.
This triggered my antivirus software.
I get about 1 fps. Probably because it's full screen on a 4k monitor. Sorry, but I wasn't able to make any progress in it.
I'm not very good at twitchy games and this was too hard for me. I kept losing my gun.
I'm pretty sure I saw the parrot cheat at the air hockey game but other than that this game was brilliant. I literally laughed out loud a few times.
Neat idea. I loved the alternate meaning of "space". The game was pretty hard for me, I'm very good at twitchy games.
Nice puzzle game! I'm impressed that you can pull a puzzle game together for an LD! I appreciate the time you spent on making the tutorial. The art and sound work well.
I love the art and style, but I'm not much of a twitchy game player. I tried a bunch of times but didn't last more than about 5 seconds.
@prismapunch what browser / os are you using where escape doesn't work?
Neat idea! I want to play more levels now.
That was a fun mechanic. And saving the cookies from the monsters was a genius way to solve your problem. Just wait a few more years and your kid can join you and help you make the game. My daughters have been on my LD team for a while now. The creativity of young children is amazing. And there's something very charming about crayon art in game jams. Thanks for the game!
I was a bit confused about what I was suppose to do. After a long while a few robot bugs came and I could stand on a circle and change the color. And it looked like they were shooing me with a laser and I'd pop back to the start. I has a circle of colors around me and I think I was suppose to be playing some version of simon-says, but I couldn't figure out what to do.
The drawing effect was really cool. I would have liked more feedback on what was wrong about my drawings. It was a bit too hard and I didn't know how to improve.
That art was so amazing. And interesting gameplay. And chickens. This game had it all.
Love the art and the vibe. Please finish so I can play more!
Amazing. This is the best incremental LD games I've played. Hunting for new songs was fun. And the vibe was amazing.
The sound effects and VO were amazing! Nice!
Wow! That's pro putting that together so fast. Everything fits well and creates a mood. The gameplay is a bit basic, but what can we expect for a 1 day game?
Nice dice game. It was really small on my screen and hard to read the dice and I couldn't find a was to size the window. It took a bit to figure out where I needed to move the dice. Maybe the dice area could have had a dashed outline or some effect to show that it was a drop target.
I couldn't figure out how to play this game after reading all the instructions. I right clicked and got it to say "focus" and then a ball started floating around. The focus bar never grow and I didn't get a word. The instructions say to do something with the left button, but I couldn't figure it out. Is something broken or did I just not figure out the controls?
That game is just oozing style. Nice! I was a little hard for me. I would have like it to ramp up in difficultly.
The style and the art was amazing. Nice job.
I love the art and mood. The wizard in the UI was a nice touch.
Really good vibe! I like the sound effects and art style. I could have used a bit more direction. At the start I followed the light sources and that was cool. When I got the lantern I felt a bit aimless and just had to walk in a random direction. Eventually I ended up in a rat maze without any tools to get out. I followed the left wall for a while, but I felt like I wasn't making any progress. I think it could have used a few clues along the way to direct me in the best direction.
@kjscott, thanks for the bug report! I found a way to get it to load and put a tip in the descriptions. Tip: If the webpage scrolls down, reload the page and click the game after it completes loading.
Nice! A fun puzzle game. I like the style of the dithering and animation in the art.
Nice. I would liked more standard controls. Shift, z, and x are weird keys to press. It took me a few tries before I got a hang of it.
I got stuck on the first room. After restarting about 5 times I was able to get the spawn time right to get up the balcony, but then I didn't know what to do next. Maybe it could have given me some hints directing me where to go? Other people seem like they figured it out, so maybe it just me?
Nice! The controls were a bit challenging to learn.
Nice vibe! I played it a few times and I'm not sure I figured out the rules. It was pretty hard.
The characters and animations were great!
Nice pixel art! That was a fun little creature creation toy. Great job.
Nice! I like the take on the theme! It even had a little "sum-moning" in the math class!! That mood was great with the art and sound and gameplay. I felt rushed which was exactly the point. And the punny game name! You did it all.
Cool! The controls were a little hard for me. I was pressing wasd and I couldn't stop running, but had to press 1 at the same time. And also right click. That was a bit much.
That was fun! Those puzzles were surprisingly interesting.
Nice! I like the hair on the zombies. And mechanic was fun. I think if you add a level up system maybe a bit like vampire survivors it will be awesome. Thanks for the game!
Nice! I made a cat summoning game too! Ha!
Wow! Great game. I dig the style and the art. My kids played through this a few times and loved it.
PLZ turn this into a web game on the New York Times site k thx.
My java was too old to run this. Cool game. I'm not much of a twitchy gamer and this was pretty hard for me. But I liked the concept and how much depth it had for such simple controls.
I love the art style!
Nice style!
I got very confused by the controls. Most of the time I played the ship wouldn't go forward. I can't tell if it was buggy for me or if I just didn't figure it out.
That worm was adorable! Great take on the theme.
That's great you did this with your kids! I made my game with my kids too! This game was super cute. We had fun playing!
