I really like the sound of this one. Feel free to tag me once it's up!
@luftwafflesnsyrup @fc85057 the game is finally up and ready to play if you're still interested!
Great music! Adorable graphics. I really like the style overall. The mood is fantastic.
Gameplay: Interesting idea. Gives some nice mechanics. It's also relatively varied.
Sadly, there've been some small things that bothered me: - It took me a while to get the correct entrance to the third level (where you have to go down). I was not paying attention to the clouds, and they are gone once you collected enough souls. - Travelling to the right side of the screen, I started to glitch around. This happened in other locations too. - Fourth level I got stuck again, as the right rock did fall over, so I was unable to reach it from the right side. I noticed you can reset them by pressing R, and I finally made it after a few attempts. Don't know if this is intentional. - Sometimes the fox gets stuck, which is often fixed by crawling backward a bit and retrying.
These are all small things. Unfortunately, they added up and caused enough frustration to break the otherwise wonderful experience.
All in all, it's still an extraordinary game. I'm glad I found it and was able to play it.
This was a great looking game, though the platforming felt a little finicky. For some reason it never really clicked for me and I had a hard time with it. The graphics more than made up for it, I loved the high contrast foreground with watercolor-like backgrounds.
That was a nice experience, thank you for the game!
The mood I feel is the best part of it, stuff fits really well together and creates an impression of a complete game world.
I liked that it had a rather chill difficulty and didn't take a long time to play through. What was mostly slowing me down was not knowing what would kill me and what wouldn't. There were areas of different color that didn't look dangerous but killed me anyway. On one screen there seemed to be multiple paths to advance, or at least I couldn't tell which was the correct one. I picked one and it just killed me, which felt a little unfair.
I also got stuck sometimes like @cobaltjt. It happened when I stopped at a sharp turn and tried to start moving again.
Lovely game, extremely well polished. The enviroment art creates a very immersive mood, and I also loved the squirrel animations. The only issue I had was that it was sometimes hard to predict whether a certain jump would kill me or not, and I had to restart a few levels fo this reason, so maybe you could find a way to warn the player before the actual jump.
Amazing colors! The background and character art are amazing and have a lot of style. The music and sound effects are create a great mood that perfectly matched the art.
Controls for left-right were challenging for me. I made if through the levels without moving vines ok, but as soon as there were timing puzzles I could hardly play the game. Unless you are trying to make a "hard to control" game, I might try to come up with a more intuitive scheme. Also, I just always held the right mouse button down. Maybe you could simplify it by always showing the jump cursor and removing the right mouse button control.
I really wanted to touch the lanterns and died on many level forgetting that I didn't need to do that. Lolz.
Overall amazing game with a great mood.
@cobaltjt We did have some issues with a bit of glitching and with colliders for making sure the fox could move smoothly across the surfaces. Unfortunately we could never quite get it to be 100%, something to work on for sure. Thank you for the feedback and for playing!
@don-fouts thank you for the feedback and for playing, really appreciate it!
@mihkelroomet thanks so much for playing! Yeah we did have some issues with colliders and boundaries that we couldn't quite iron out, definitely points to work on. Glad it was a fun experience for you overall!
@carei thanks for the kind words! We went back and forth on how to indicate distance and settled on the directional arrow, but definitely something to take into consideration for the future. Thanks for the feedback!
@tod-semple thank you for the compliments, means a lot! Regular left-right controls sometimes got quite finicky so we decided on clockwise-counterclockwise but the confusion with that is understandable. It's our first time trying a platformer so thank you for the feedback and for playing!
Nice graphics and interesting gameplay, but there is a lot of bugs. After level with chasing vines I came back to the previous levels somehow. Also, input is not very comfortable, I think target aim should be on screen permanently, I litterally played it with always pressed RMB. Or it can be changed to an indicator on the ground where're you aiming, if you can reach the ground. I think it can fit artstyle.
@amolker thank you for playing despite the bugs! It was definitely a learning experience to do a platformer, the feedback is appreciated.
@cat-lab Thank you for your game! You guys made a great job anyway, well done!
This is an interesting and great little puzzle game. A bit difficult to see where the exits is. But overall a good game. Well done.
Graphics are amazing! Love the mechanics and the puzzle design. I hope whenever you failed a jump you respawn from the previous jump location instead of the starting location. Good job guys. A really amazing entry for you guys!
Very pretty game, a little bit difficult tho ! Well done
Found a bug. Was walking on air after death :D I really like the art in this one. And the music! strongest assets here.
This is. PERFECT! The only critique I can give- the last timer-y level I found the part where there's a bird to catch in between the two swingy objects that then leads to you having to swing to the next object with timed thorns underneath sliiiightly unforgiving (I still finished it... eventually... because I loved this game and wanted to finish it) but really, asides that, this was relaxing, challenging, the sound and art design worked together to create the perfect level of tension and immersion.. Just big wow!
I'm a fan of games like this. This minimalistic visual style, animations. But balance on last level added grain of sour, throwing me as a player out of flow, and in start there was not clear where to go. Neat game!
Wow i'm very confused as to why this game only has 17 reviews. The atmosphere is breathtaking and the gameplay is fantastic despite the few bugs i have encountered. I think with a little bit of polishing it would make an amazing full length game. Well done, really!
I got a really Ori-esq vibe from the game. In a good way:smile: The graphics were beautiful as were the sounds! My only gripe was the fact that the controls kept inverting themselves when the character was upside down, but that was the only thing that even slightly annoyed me so all and all great work!
That was really pretty, I loved it. The art, audio and atmosphere in general were fantastic. I had issues with things being off the edge of the screen when I tried playing fullscreen (1920x1200). Specifically the text on the second screen, and perhaps some exits. I managed to get by playing in windowed mode but I still had to edit the html to see the whole thing. The exit on the third screen was a bit unclear. There is a near pixel perfect jump on the scrolling level that was a bit frustrating, since the screen is moving its not so easy to line up correctly. My biggest issue was probably with the movement, I was constantly going the wrong way when underneath the rocks as the controls feel inverted.
Such a well made game! Atmospheric, soothing music combined with a striking art style, sound effects and great mechanics. The hanging rocks actually moving took me by surprise, and made the experience even more exciting. The chase scene was another great element - Even though I struggled a bit with my jumps being just out of reach during the chase, it only made me get more set on making it! Well done!!
A very solid entry, great visuals and cool music. Gameplay is fun. But it could be a little bit more forgiving at the start because distances between platforms are so fine-tuned to the maximum distance we can travel that I had hard times jumping to other platform. But when I got the hang of it, it was so fun to play. Great job! If you would like to shred some zombies in slowmo, be sure to check out my entry, I would love to hear your feedbacks!
Loved the game, very good aesthetic and mood.
Only real complaint was the auto scroller, the swinging platforms weren't coming on screen fast enough and so I messed up there 3 different times not knowing there was another swinging platform after. So I'd wait on the swinging platform and then because the platform doesn't swing back enough, I'd end up not making the jump.
It'd be nice if the swinging platforms swung were more consistent, or if there was some way to like press a button and kick the platform to make it swing more while on it, which in itself could be a feature used in other ways like using it to press buttons in maybe a full version with more complex puzzles.
I think removing the "auto" part of the auto scroller would have been ideal, show the threat of the vines coming, but then unlock the camera so that it follows the player, that way the player can progress as fast as they want, You could probably even rubber band the speed of the vines to keep up with the player so they can't get too far ahead, just don't punish the player for mastering the mechanics and going too fast by preventing them from seeing the next platform.
I'm nitpicking though so don't take it too hard, it was a good game, just my thoughts.
Good Job!
I love the visuals and mechanics. The music also helps build a nice atmosphere. This is definitely a top tier LD game.
Loved the graphics style and the fluid animation, as well as the audio, since there's a different (good and fitting) track on each level!
The basic movement feels good as well, if you're used to the upside/down flip. And also use the right-button measuring 'device' to make the max jump distance bearable. (It's not immediately obvious that's what it is. I think it would maybe have been better as either a permanent thing or something that shows up if left is pressed longer (slash only on release).)
However, I don't think the timed sequences work very well for me. (That's also because it's Friday evening and I lack the patience for it.) Movement before that point could be deliberate and thought out. (I also had softlocked before that, but by reading the comments it seems I could press R to reset the room and that worked.) I made it up to the chase sequence, and out of the first 'screen' of that room, but after that I just gave up (for now, might return later to see if I have recharged).
I also kept thinking that, since when the clouds disappear you're just left with the screen edges, there'd be branching paths in the areas where there weren't any clouds to begin with. But that's just death. I don't think anyone (else) would have much trouble with that though.
Despite the above, I still mostly enjoyed my time with this! (Also there can never be enough games about foxes.)
I really enjoy the mood and simple graphics of this game. It looks inspired by Ori and Hollow Knight.
- The click mechanic to jump was a bit janky for me, as I kept "evaporating" at the ledges, even though I feel like I could have progressed. I don't know if this is a bug or a difficulty thing but I think if its the latter, then it makes the platforming process frustrating and makes me want to give up, - The music is great, graphics are nice, tutorial is appreciated!
Really cool graphic, gameplay and sound. I died a lot because i was just out of range for a dash, the dash distance may need some feedback, Great entry ! Really cool !
Wow, this one's Mood, Graphics, and Audio are off the charts! I love how well this came together, and you guys did a really nice job on the dash/slash mechanics. I also really like how the birds move around in a challenging pattern so you need to dash quickly enough to catch up to them, or catch them "off guard".
That's a cool movement system where you can left click to dash in the current direction, or use the aiming system to dash in any direction from your current position. I think that works really well here and gives you lots of options for interesting level design and more elusive enemies, if you decide to expand this game later. Excellent work, you guys!
Very nice polished game! I think the connection to the theme was a bit tenuous, but totally made up the visuals! Great Job!
