LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Fountain Of Death by sawtan 2020-10-06T22:34:47Z

Fun platformer. Puzzles are fairly simple but good level of difficulty doing the platforming to complete them. I also liked the character and animation. I think it would have been fine to increase the puzzle difficulty just a little bit and adjust the jumping a tad - although the latter may be just my playing. Felt like I tended to hit the arrow key always a fraction of a second too soon. It would be nice if there were some sort of visual indication when a pressure plate needs additional weight.

Confined by Flaterectomy 2020-10-06T23:16:45Z

Excellent text adventure. Great balance of mystery, humor, and scifi. The puzzle later on was simple but satisfying. Makes great use of the theme and solid conclusion! Very small detail but a slightly muted background could make the reading strain on the eyes a little easier (although I could see the brightness of the white being intentional since it does match the atmosphere).

Karma Farmer by Plasmonic 2020-10-07T02:04:38Z

Wow! Really awesome concept and game mechanic. It also ties into the theme perfectly. The art is also really well-done and charming. The audio complements it well. It's always interesting seeing your monks come back as different animals. I did encounter a few bugs and technical issues. There's game-ending text that pops up right away on the main menu. When you try to adjust either the music or sound volume, it causes static- it seems to only work when you either have both turned all the way up or both all the way down. I tried two different browsers but unfortunately the WebGL player would not maximize, which makes the stats really difficult to read.

Loading: The Game by Wakobu 2020-10-07T00:34:07Z

Truly clever idea for a game and fits the theme nicely! Simple but responsive and effective controls. Art for the enemies was good. Fun little details like the BSOD as the game over screen. Some sort of health or score indicator could help so it feels less abrupt when you lose. A change in cursor over clickable objects could also help make things a little more obvious.

Ticket to Loop by Rost 2020-10-06T01:18:09Z

I had way too much fun this. Satisfying gameplay loop (pun not intended, I swear). The pixel art is also quite charming. Great job all around. As @zwodahs suggested, some sort of HUD element with a score or a tracker of some sort could be a great finishing touch on this. Or maybe some sort of time indicator how long passengers will wait.

Enjoy Your Stay by senhung 2020-10-06T18:18:56Z

Very interesting gameplay and excellent implementation. Controls are also very tight and responsive. Difficulty was also spot on. All those things combined made it a lot of fun. Also nicely done by setting the macabre mood- the cute graphics and music mixed with the darker graphics and gameplay made it bleak and even a little creepy! I may have encountered one or two bugs that prevented me from proceeding. The first may have been intentional and I just didn't figure out what to do. At one point where the level flipped again, the player ended up stuck upside down and I couldn't find a path to continue. I also had a part where too many bodies stacked up and I could not proceed. It was easy to find the game on the itch.io page, but the link posted here is incorrect.

Roboot by Nilodree 2020-10-07T03:22:35Z

I had a lot of fun with this one, even though I am quite bad at it! Really unique shooting mechanic that I haven't seen before, but once you get used to it, it works quite well. Graphics, particularly the enemies, look really good. That's also a very catch tune playing in the background ;) I did run into situations where I would walk into a room and the enemies would be right at the door. Since you only have 3 health points, this could kill you instantly. For those having issues: I had to switch my keyboard language to French and it worked fine. Also note that to shoot uses the arrow keys - not WASD! WASD = moving, arrow keys = shooting.

Loophole Kingdom by MateusBoga 2020-10-06T00:29:18Z

Interesting and funny story. The loop theme works perfectly here not just for the story but also a gameplay mechanic. I felt like I always had the chance to try a new option and see what happens with every go-around. The characters look great and provide plenty of humor. Perhaps just on my machine but I tried 2 different browsers and monitors. The game isn't playable when the screen isn't maximized because the keyboard moves the webpage, but if you make it fullscreen, the game doesn't fully stretch.

Wieder by Bradalli 2020-10-05T23:36:57Z

Wow. This is incredible, especially in 72 hours. Graphics are beautiful and fit the mood perfectly. There are so many interesting little extras and details. The time on the watch. The menu taking form of the gameplay. The ability to jump to the next section via the menu. I wasn't expecting a big crash or anything - obviously wouldn't fit the game - but I was a bit surprised you could drive through other cars. It takes a bit of the motivation away to handle the steering wheel.

Loop-E-Mart by jvolonte 2020-10-05T23:55:30Z

A very interesting take on the theme - planning a loop in advance! At the moment, I can't recall a game with such a mechanic. I had a lot of fun with this. Also, even without a tutorial, it was easy to pick up and get going and you quickly learn to adapt and build a strategy. A couple of small details: a way to exit the game since you can currently only pause (or at least I didn't see a quit function). It would also be nice to know at what point you are in during the day. It's unclear when it is going to come to an end and when it does, it happens rather abruptly.

The Dark Wages by dmtroy 2020-10-07T02:57:34Z

I had fun just running around here, like a bizarre office sandbox. I like the art - the combination of the 2D character and the 3D assets. The 3D assets look good for the time jam constraints and the character's bobbling animation is nice. The rotating of the camera moving between rooms is a nice effect. I am not sure whether it was intentional that it was bit of like a sandbox game. After the initial instructions of placing the letters and taking out the garbage, nothing else came up and it was unclear to me what exactly I needed to do.

Dungeon Break by radow 2020-10-07T00:26:16Z

Very fun mechanic with excellent gameplay and turn-based controls. Good progression of simple introductory puzzles to quickly becoming more challenging. The art and textures look great, especially considering the time constraint. Sometimes, it is a little difficult to see everything that is going on in the level, which makes it at times a bit more trial and error rather than strategic planning.

Doggo in the Woods by 113hz 2020-10-07T15:08:47Z

Great job on the physics. Feels realistic, there is a good pull when reaching the end or when getting the leash tangled. The rain sound mixed with the art makes the whole thing strangely soothing in a way. Nice low poly models too; the dog sitting and then laying down when not moving is a nice touch. It'll be nice to see what you do with this in the future and see how you can expand on this mechanic into a complete game. I did encounter one issue when getting wrapped around the tree and getting entangled. The leash would suddenly flash, turning vertical and become the size of the tree.

WhileLoops by Ausstein 2020-10-06T02:33:09Z

Fantastic all around. Clever (and frustratingly familiar ;)) gameplay. The graphics and audio really help tie everything together. Lots of small, nice touches, like the BSOD. Sometimes it was a little annoying when the pop-ups covered up the relevant variables - but perhaps this was an intentional annoyance.

Little Pirate Adventure by Bauke Regnerus 2020-10-05T23:09:34Z

Super cool concept. I'm a sucker for anything pirate related, so this was right up my alley. The game also looks great. The simple art style works very well. Good use of loop. As pointed out in the instructions, the game crashes when you run out of food. You don't start with very much food and there's lots of enemies through which you can lose it, too. Perhaps less of an issue for better gamers than me, but it meant that my playthroughs were always very short and ended in crashes. I really enjoy the concept, the map, the art, and if you decide to further develop it and fix the issues, I would definitely play it again!

Life's Loop by Matav 2020-10-07T14:56:50Z

Very enjoyable game! Only takes a couple of minutes to naturally get a hang of the gameplay mechanic. I had fun trying to figure out how to get the balance just right. Also nice that there are animations accompanying every action. Really liked the touch with the background music changing once the "quality of life" improved. Wrapped up nicely at end with escaping the loop. I encountered some minor graphical glitches while playing, where the character was closer to the foreground but there were objects further behind intersecting. There were also conflicting messages when going to sleep at night and there were so many of them that they were hard to read.

Viktor by Palemek 2020-10-07T01:13:51Z

Quite challenging but lots of fun! Excellent aesthetics. The art style is lovely and the animations are great, especially the main character and entering the portals. Some satisfying puzzle elements too- e.g. at first I thought the level with the heavy, fast blocks was impossible with all the enemies shooting at you before I realized you could "ride" the blocks to the next level. Occasionally, it felt as though there was a slight delay between the enemy being shot and dying. An enemy would be shot but then Viktor would still take damage.

GUNRAIL by Sisyphean Games 2020-10-06T02:23:53Z

Very interesting take on the tower defense genre! Plenty of customization options that allow for different strategies. Pretty intuitive and easy to pick up. A couple of small things: when purchasing upgrades, the UI covers up the resource amount. The level time also feels a tad too long and could be a little shorter.

Warehouse Madness by Dexort 2020-10-06T02:01:24Z

I did not figure I would have this much fun driving a virtual forklift. After getting used to the controls, they and the game physics are very satisfying. The environment changing upon moving boxes is a nice touch. That is also one catchy beat ;) I think a small thing like a counter, some sort of HUD could add a nice addition, just something to keep track of progress. I'm also so used to Escape being pause that I unintentionally threw myself back to the main menu screen twice.

Endless Corridor by Trevor802 2020-10-08T00:48:00Z

I had a lot of fun with this! Very cool gameplay and certainly makes great use of the theme. I couldn't help but appreciate the geometry of the whole thing and how it was all put together. It also looked very solid for a 3D game made in such a short amount of time. The background helped to seal the trippy (in a good way) mood. I did have the occasional issue with getting stuck on the edges of platforms and not properly transitioning when hitting a bump.

Oh my Life by KarenFarah 2020-10-06T02:16:45Z

Very unique game. Loved all the different art styles. Mood was well done, beautiful but bleak. I did have some issues with the controls at first, though. I thought there was an issue with the game at the beginning. I kept trying to click on things and using the WASD keys to move. Finally realized you use the arrow keys. May help to write the controls on the itch page so it doesn't happen to other folks.

Stuck in a Froot Loop by Boaz 2020-10-06T01:41:29Z

Truly bizarre - in a good way! Good dose of humor and definitely some interesting characters. At first I didn't fully understand what I was doing, but then the grid and attack system started to make sense. It's a cool setup and game mechanic. The enemy AI/balancing seemed slightly off to me. Once I understood how the grid system worked, it was mostly a matter of finding which one attack - based on the enemy's preferred position - to spam as fast as possible in a fight to beat them. (But perhaps this was intended.)

Foolish Me by Raeya 2020-10-07T02:23:36Z

Fun puzzle-platformer! Really liked the magnetic mechanic - very creative and makes for some great Metroidvania style progression. The simple foreground and complex backgrounds complement each other well. As you gain more colors, I felt the controls got a little trickier and it was harder to keep track while completing sections that require color switching. Fingers were all over the keyboard and I kept wanting to press "Y" for "Yellow."

Lupotium by HilamGhost 2020-10-08T00:54:41Z

The game looks very cool! But I am having issues getting it to run. The menu buttons do not respond to clicks and I have tried every key on the keyboard. Do you have any issues on your end when you try to run the .exe?

Cave Escape by Fractal Flower Girl 2020-10-07T00:43:49Z

Neat Scratch project. Background music fit the pixel art style. Controls worked well for moving in a loop. I could see building on this and creating more complex puzzles. I did encounter a bug the first time where it automatically gave me the pickaxe in the second room, yet it wouldn't let me destroy the rock.

Grotinger by RizekCajk 2020-10-07T03:08:13Z

Fun game - my hand hurts from spamming "Z" now ;) The controls are great and very responsive. It's some of the best player jumping I've seen so far this LD. The pixel art is nice with some cool touches like the floating clouds in the background. The enemy AI was a bit odd at times. They seemed to have no problem kamikaze running into lava or gaps and also didn't seem to mind when you jump on their head.

Ouroboros by Vippe 2020-10-07T23:27:40Z

Good shooter with simple but super effective mechanic! Clever take on the theme and nice use of the Ouroboros concept, integrating it both thematically and in the gampeplay. Controls also worked well. I did accidentally click on an upgrade I didn't want a few times because I was still clicking away at the last enemies. A slightly longer delay could possibly help.

Stuck in a Prison by Flopo 2020-10-06T02:40:27Z

I'm usually not the biggest fan of stealth mechanic but felt like it was implemented very well here. The guard's view isn't too far so folks like me actually have a chance to sneak past them ;) The guards' voices are a fantastic touch. It was a little hard to keep track of where I was at times, though, since things look fairly similar.

Bjorn to Dance by Tomh 2020-10-06T00:13:48Z

10/10 pun and fits the lighthearted nature of the game. Great mood and just a fun idea to combine two things as different as vikings and rhythm games. The use of the viking shield and runes is clever and the overall UI layout is nicely designed. The only thing that seems to be missing from the UI would be some sort of indicator how much time is remaining on the current sequence.

Resolution by Sincopa 2020-10-05T23:18:01Z

Nice interpretation of the loop concept. Right off the bat, the dark menu art is cool. I also liked how the menu even makes sense story-wise with "Go Back." The trap design is a lot of fun - and I fell for some of them multiple times, more than I care to admit ;) Small things but may help to make some adjustment to the itch.io page. I tried two different browsers but it looks like the Untiy embedding is slightly too big. It also took me a second to realize that "W" was meant for jump since the controls weren't mentioned.

Blasted Isle by StinkoSupreme 2020-10-08T01:36:26Z

Fantastic game! Feels very "complete" and well-rounded for a jam game. Love the pirate theme and the overall aesthetic. The art style is great and the sound effects complement it well. Controls are very smooth; sliding in particular feels very natural and is just a plain load of fun. I had an issue occur a few times where I would clear a loop, the wall would come up and then the boss/big skull would immediately slide into me and pin me against the wall. There was nothing I could do at that point and it would abruptly end my run.

Parry knight by kekovillablanca 2020-10-08T00:01:23Z

Cool game with a really unique concept! The use of defense as offense works really well. The graphics are beautiful, both the background and the character. The animations are great too, although the walking ones didn't always seem to play. Camera could also be slid back to the left, as it would help to parry in time. I actually really liked the background music too but when I tried to slightly adjust the song volume in the menu, it did not really seem to work.

Deathless Curse by BridgeOnAStick 2020-10-07T01:42:29Z

Fun little dungeon platformer! Liked the jump controls that responded to how long you hold space. Nice touch with the lighting effects - adds depth and highlights the details of the background sprites. Good little touch of humor - "Steve" in the dungeon and the missing textures. One hit for complete restart seems a little harsh. Maybe a health indicator with a couple of hit points could help. Sometimes the enemies would also be turned the wrong way and be completely unaware of the player's presence. Took me a second to realize that levers needed to be hit rather than use interact.

Stop Motion by Cafe Ducha Siesta 2020-10-07T01:00:28Z

...did I just see a TV announcer in a banana suit riding helicopter blades? Nice! Funny intro. Controls are smooth and responsive. I had fun trying to chase after the cars, even if took me a while ;) Even slightly bumping into walls seems to cause a notable setback and feels a little bit punishing. First level could maybe use a touch more eye candy; the trees in the second level were a nice touch.

Monk Simulator by Trento 2020-10-05T22:56:28Z

This was a nice relaxing game after the stress of Ludum Dare! Great aesthetics; the graphics and audio are excellent and really help set the mood. Perhaps it was intentional but it looks like it may have been test build? I somehow managed to knock the plant out of its pot while watering it. The beer was also already brewed some mornings. (Wish it worked that way in real life!)

K7Dungeon by Leonardo Coyado 2020-10-07T01:24:56Z

All around excellent and so well polished. These may be the best pixel art graphics I've seen this jam - there are just so many fantastic added details in the background. The warped edges and VHS effects when dying are also a very nice touch. First I've also seen this that jam that someone did a game in multiple languages - very cool and definitely not easy to do under such time constraints! I found it a bit challenging to get the timing of the double jump right at times but that may also just be my lack of skills ;)

Stuck in the "Loop" by Timberin 2020-10-06T22:54:59Z

Very creative gameplay mechanic! Took me a second to grasp it but after that really enjoyed it. The simple art style also really works and looks super cool. There were a couple of spots where I would get stuck along the walls when I tried to jump. I dig the soundtrack selection ;) But friendly heads up: unless you have a license to use them, I don't think crediting them is enough.

Lost Caravan by spacecadet 2020-10-07T00:05:19Z

Simple yet satisfying gameplay. Kept me going for a little while. The art style is great; I especially like the character/camel models. Good use of shadow and lighting to give everything depth. As others have mentioned, it is a little unclear when you will or will not be hitting something. Sometimes I saw my health drop to my surprise. The audio is also turned down a bit low.

Dragon's Curse by Esteban NUNEZ 2020-10-06T01:05:06Z

This game is quite challenging for mortals like me ;) I still had fun playing it, though, bad as I am at it. Good introduction of new challenges as the game progresses. I also liked the use of the pixelated background; made for a unique look. Sometimes, I had issues with the character jumping when he was on the edges of platforms. I'm guessing the ground check fails in those cases. After the game being silent for a while, the sounds in the third world caught me by surprise. The gray platforms also blend a bit into the background at times - but that may also be more due to my vision rather than the game itself!

Last Night in France by halfboltGames 2020-10-06T01:28:18Z

Clever puzzle. The art is awesome; not only quality pixel art but also just a great noir aesthetic. The tune in the background also fits the aesthetic nicely and is quite catchy. Since it is short, it's obviously not a huge deal, but I didn't realize hitting Escape would restart instead of pause. I beat the puzzle even though I actually died - I think when I bounced off the basketball it triggered the end cutscene, even though the character then fell to his death. (This is purely to satisfy my curiosity: I get why the initial large drop kills him, but why the short drop off of the car :D ?)

Internshit by MattC 2020-10-06T03:06:10Z

A little confusing at first but quickly grows on you. It definitely captures the internship experience ;) I like the humor, especially the intern constantly being called by different names. It's happened to me a couple of times that the seemingly wrong text would up - for example, the reception's dialogue would show up later on. It'd also be nice to have confirmation text of some sort for all tasks (for example, there's no confirmation when getting Mike coffee).

Hellloop by water_otter 2020-10-08T00:37:51Z

Really like this concept! This actually gave me flashbacks to one of the minigames in Fusion Frenzy a long time ago. Nice integration of the theme into story and gampelay. Good graphics and color palette choice for the time limitations and the comic at the beginning was great. A larger amount/interval of obstacles would be nice, as I felt there were parts where I was just running without having to do much for longer stretches.

Propertygeist by mhollister 2020-10-07T02:47:45Z

Adorable game! Love the concept and I can't get over how good the graphics are, especially the animations. Not only do they look great, but they are all such clever and unique "haunts," making them a lot of fun to discover and watch. Since a lot of people run out of time to do tutorials for jams like this, it was nice to have one that clearly explained the game. I just wish there would have been one more element/mechanic to it, because I found myself continuously clicking haunts in the same order as fast I could. Great game for October :)

Loopy Treasure by GamingChef 2020-10-07T19:25:51Z

As a fan of all things pirate, I love this concept. Great combination of the loop and a pirate theme - the loop gameplay mechanism works really well. I was surprised how well the tap mechanism for both moving and shooting worked; I haven't seen it implementeed quite like this before. The graphics for the ships are nice, too. I know it shows the treasure collected at the end, but it would be nice to see while playing, so you have an idea of your progress. I also encountered some strange things happening when the ship bumped too much into a wall.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

The Demon Trainer by drentsoft 2022-04-05T02:46:07Z

Clever premise. As a fan of rhythm games, I also really appreciate the main gameplay loop. The different key combinations for the exercises works well and make for a good challenge. It's also a nice touch to visually see your character aging as their age increases. Some music could go a long way to tie the aesthetic together. While the tutorial helped to get the controls down, it took me a second to grasp the actual game. It seems like reps were only registering correctly in the tutorial but not the main game.

The Short Dark by PhyscoKillerMonkey 2022-04-05T21:05:23Z

Absolutely nailed the "demake" vibe of "The Long Dark." Easy to pick up and follow, controls are smooth, and art gets the point across. That this was all done with JS, HTML, and CSS makes it even more impressive. Would be interested in seeing it with some audio and a timer. Very nice entry!

Reapers & Retirees by Carraka 2022-04-10T23:37:29Z

Mood/atmosphere is excellent. As a player of (TT)RPGs, I love this concept and the characters. Art is beautiful and the music is very appropriate. The general idea of the game and the mechanics with the different characters is great as well.

I did have some visual issues with text outside the dialogue box and largely blocking the "Build" button. It was also unclear when the tutorial ended and I was expected to keep going (although this appears to have been addressed in the game post). Also encountered bugs where I was not allowed to build towers, saying the area was obstructed, even though it wasn't. Without a way to return to the menu in-game, this meant Ctrl+Alt+Delete to deal with the bug.

Great concept and atmosphere; will be keeping an eye out for the post-jam version!

Cussmuss: the ice cone fuss by ardorugus 2022-04-08T03:27:26Z

Truly a unique game! Love the animal theme, and the great art perfectly complements it. Although it took me a minute, figuring out the gameplay was very satisfying. I think this could be an interesting full release if the audio quality was brought up to match the graphic quality.

Cute Crumbling Corpse by Chewie Henwitch 2022-04-07T01:08:20Z

The art is minimalist but beautiful. I believe the audio echoes this and they complement each other excellently. On top of that, the premise certainly fits the theme. However, it is a little unclear what needs to be done, and it feels like a lot is left to the player to figure out on their own. Absolutely a pretty game :) But if feels like a little instruction could go a long way here.

Delay The Inevitable by gamedevkng 2022-04-07T01:02:25Z

Sorry, your itch.io link seems to throw up an error message :(

Imposter Syndrome Surgeon by kason.xiv 2022-04-05T01:56:30Z

Clever and fun basic game mechanic. The aesthetic of the game is great: good humor, fun mood, established through excellent sound effects and an upbeat music track, as well being a spot-on example of quality pixel art. It'd be great to see more words added to the game.

100 Seconds to Midnight by Substain 2022-04-05T21:21:55Z

Interesting premise! Easy to pick up and play with clear resources to juggle. The variety of events and their randomization definitely add to the replay value. It'd be great to have some more indication of just how much you stand to gain or lose on certain decisions, since it sometimes felt like a gamble where you may lose or not.

Last Stand by TheMightyTrout 2022-04-07T02:00:11Z

What a unique concept and executed extremely well! Easy to pick up and a lot of fun to play. The audio is great as well. A little more feedback on what you can place where would put this into "full-fledged" game territory. Great job.

Never Alone by fachscahfttf 2022-04-07T01:54:05Z

Very impressive! Cool, simple concept that works extraordinarily well. Fits the theme and music and art fit perfectly. The "ghostlike" vision of other players is incredible and I cannot imagine how you pulled it off in such a time frame. Truly impressive. This could be a full-fledged game with a bit of variety/abilities added.

Time DashKing by Tryston 2022-04-07T01:26:45Z

We also embraced the viking theme so we are all for this! Truly beautiful pixel art and fitting sound. Fun gampeplay mechanic and solid controls. The dash added a nice bit of personality and variance to the game. However, did run into some issues with trying to retrieve the axe at the certain spots.

Inevitable by MatchaMaze 2022-04-07T02:19:53Z

A creative take on the theme. The visuals are nothing short of spectacular- innovative and absorptive, literally and figuratively. The audio also perfectly matches the tone of the spiral. It's truly a powerful message, but despite it, from a strictly gameplay perspective, some slight variety could make this fantastic concept go a long way.

Like a Boss by NBumgardner 2022-04-05T02:07:49Z

A very cool premise and a promising start! The 3x3 grid movement works well and adds an interesting element to the game, as well as being given multiple attack options. There are some beautiful pixel art characters. Still, it is a little hard to appreciate their variety, since they are all sent in mass numbers from the very beginning. Although the basic controls are not that hard to figure out, they are relatively difficult to get used to. At the time of this writing, audio is extremely quiet.

Bathroom in the Backrooms by mrbrainfed 2022-04-07T01:48:55Z

One of the most clever takes I've seen on the theme thus far. Excellent job on a first time 3D game. Controls fight you a bit, but it seems like that's part of the purpose. A little indication towards the objective could go a long way. But fun little game!

Hourglass Boy by EpicCrownKing 2022-04-07T01:04:01Z

Unfortunately, the itch.io link does not seem to work :(

Just run! by Piotrax 2022-04-07T02:14:09Z

This turned out to be a very beautiful game! Great pixel art. Audio was minimal but definitely fit the aesthetic. Gameplay was very enjoyable once you figured it out. For less clever folks like myself, a little bit of instruction would go a long way :D

Male Pattern Boldness by Choo 2022-04-08T03:32:25Z

Absolutely and utterly ridiculous. In the best way possible. Very clever take on the theme. Graphics and audio match beautifully. Very good sense of humor.

The Fly's Eyes by Colossus_Gaming 2022-04-07T01:31:28Z

There was some nice pixel art! The paddle/controller was also very responsive to the target. However, it was rather unclear what needed to be done.

Ragnarök: Fight for The Yggdrasil by Hylin Games 2022-04-05T02:33:19Z

We had eerily similar premises- needless to say, I approve of the theme! Core gameplay mechanics are solid and plays quite smoothly. Would love to see this after audio is added and balancing some numbers.

Wreck at Delta Blue by Alex Stewart 2022-04-07T01:37:27Z

Wow! The controls for a flight game are spot-on. I'm not familiar with the engine but I can only imagine that was a lot of work to get down that smoothly. Graphics are definitely nice for this short amount of time as well. Audio did get a little repetitive very quickly and it was a little hard to determine how to find samples to pick up. But this looks like a very cool start to a game I would play!

Solar Flare! by jSmile 2022-04-05T01:49:46Z

Simple yet very satisfying gameplay loop! Definitely adds to replayability. Very responsive controls and audio is great as well. It'd be interesting to see how it would look expanding on the colors and aesthetic.

Caffeine Kid: Sleep is for the Weak by Sharcoal Studios 2022-04-16T00:25:11Z

Excellent concept. The art is great, especially when you consider the limited amount of time. I really liked the controls as well- felt very smooth and responsive. The right click to view the whole office is a convenient ability and a clever way to handle the overview. Plus, sliding is just fun! The UI info the bottom left is currently a bit challenging to read. More indication and response for the coffee would be helpful. I also encountered a bug where the game wouldn't properly continue at the start of a new day. I had to Ctrl+Alt+Delete out of it since there wasn't a pause menu. I think with some quality of life improvements, mostly in the UI, this could definitely be a project worth pursuing after the jam.

Zarguuf's Big Berry Heist by bradur 2023-01-10T18:25:08Z

Fun game! Feels very robust and developed considering the short amount of development time. It's a really fun concept and the mouse mechanics are great. The introduction was very helpful and made it easy to pick up the game and understand what's going on. It's impressive that you managed to create a tutorial and two levels in such a short amount of time. The second level felt really well designed with nice choke points where the wagons can come into play.

I did have a bug where the pull spell wouldn't work on a cart that was blocking a path. I died by being overrun as a result. But on reviving at the checkpoint, the spell did work on the cart. This may just be my subpar eyesight, but I had trouble seeing when arrows were flying my way, so I honestly was just spamming the spacebar key at times. Again, may just be me, but perhaps a slight adjustment to the projectiles or a sound effect could help.

Harvest Heist by Sheepolution 2023-01-10T05:07:35Z

Wow, amazing job! This really has everything. It's a lot of fun to play and is a really cool and unique concept. Loads of great humor throughout. The gameplay mechanic is very satisfying, from the hiding and the arrow key combinations to pulling out the vegetables. Having to pull out the other characters is also a great idea. Art and audio are very impressive as well. Even the menu is spot-on; it looks fantastic and the farmer's flashlight is a really nice added touch.

I did encounter a bug during my first playthrough. The first two characters were hidden, and then when the third got caught, the game just froze up. Since there was no menu and I couldn't do anything, I had to restart. It was sometimes also a little difficult to find the hidden players due to the limited visibility and size of the map, but that very well may have been an intentional challenge.

Enchanted Scarecrow Gone Wrong by Skosnowich 2023-01-10T04:42:39Z

Really neat game! The mouse dragging gameplay is really unique. It took me a little bit to get the hang of it even with the tutorial, but it works great once you get it. Game also feels like it is at a good difficulty. The pixel art is really nice, too, and the Bfxr sound effects fit the game well.

The introduction is beautifully done and was nice to see the first time around, but I wish I'd be able to skip it on subsequent playthroughs. Bringing the carrots to live is definitely amusing, but there didn't seem to be enough benefit to it to justify losing a carrot over it.

I Require Human Parts by Flaterectomy 2023-01-10T17:36:40Z

Great text adventure with a fun and unique mechanic. Overall mood and presentation were great, definitely capturing that sci-fi/Alien vibe. The sniff and security camera mechanics are a nice design that work very well. I misunderstood the sniffing mechanic on my initial playthrough and still ended up searching the other spots, not realizing that there was no point to it and wasting my HP. But once it clicked on my second playthrough, I managed to catch the whole crew :D Nice touch randomizing the names and locations each playthrough.

Not sure whether intentional or not, but did have an instance where there were two crew members hiding in the same location. Not like that's unrealistic, but I almost missed it. I saw on the security camera that one of the members was hiding there but when I used the sniff mechanic, it only found one of the crew members. If I hadn't by chance saw that particular crew member on the cameras, or the sniff mechanic only mentioned that character, I would have most likely missed the other one.

Void Walkers by Pope PAF 2023-01-10T02:15:40Z

Incredible aesthetics. Game is a joy to look at and has a nice atmosphere, which the music complements. Simple but effective control scheme.

Even after playing it for a little while, I'm still not 100% sure I completely understand the way it works. A little more instruction or clarification could be helpful.

Harvest Moon by bigbadollie 2023-01-09T18:49:43Z

Very satisfying gameplay loop! Controls and game are super easy to pick up and very responsive. Camera flows nicely with the harvester and everything just works together really well. That you managed to support so many systems for a jam is also quite impressive.

At the time of this writing, the itch link does not seem to work. I couldn't get the multiplayer (which also is an impressive feature for a jam!) to work either. The menu would just stay stuck and could not go into local mode either. An exit button would be convenient.

Perhaps there isn't any audio, but if there is, I could not hear it on either the online or Windows version.

Great job!

Scream of the Crop by indegame 2023-01-10T04:26:32Z

Nice job! The art is absolutely incredible. Character design is top-notch, from art, to lore, to abilities. Great take on the theme and a fun concept overall.

I agree with the other comment that it feels like there's "a piece missing." Moving too slow to really dodge anything, I did just find myself slowly chugging to get to the enemies. This is really promising and with some adjustments and balancing would really go to the next level.

Harvest Mouse: Veggie Survivor by chelC 2023-01-10T23:45:37Z

Fun and cute game! Controls and shooting mechanic work really well. The mouse aesthetic puts a nice twist on the 'vegetables come to life' idea. The pixel art is absolutely gorgeous and the retro music fits it very well, making an overall great atmosphere.

I agree with the other comment that a little more feedback from the veggies being shot would help. I didn't notice that they made a flinching face until a few waves in. (A super nice touch! But hard to see when there's so many on screen.) Not sure whether it was intentional, but if my cursor got too close to the main character, I'd suddenly have two guns.

Moon Harvest by Btdyaya 2023-01-10T03:30:56Z

Unfortunately, I could not get the game to run either.

Slim Reaper by rustynoob 2023-01-10T00:13:54Z

Neat concept and gameplay loop. I like the idea of balancing fuel and repairs with buying upgrades. The cows for fertilizing the crops is a nice touch as well. The bugs do make it more difficult to play. The controls and camera are smooth but the constant blood and mostly invisible tractor make it challenging to get a sense of what you're doing at the moment. I was also able to purchase anything regardless of current funds. Purchasing cows had some amusing side effects: the entire field would become completely covered in cows, my money would tank, and the cost of cows would skyrocket :Dcows.png

Cultist Garden by GreenRadiation 2023-01-10T02:57:42Z

Wow! Amazing job. I'm a sucker for card games, so this was right up my alley. The gameplay is great: it takes a familiar matching concept but turns it into a really fun and well-developed system. The great variety in mechanics keeps it interesting and there's so many nice small touches like cards being partially obscured by the walls.

The art is fantastic as well. Thanks for uploading that concept art- it's really interesting to see that. I was surprised that this wasn't assets because the art looked so good. The art, lore, and audio combined make for just a great presentation overall.

The post does mention that the offline version is more stable, so maybe this only affects the online one, but the moon stopped changing for me. I didn't end up knowing how much time I had left. I wish I could have clicked the cards more often, too. I'm sure that's an intentional design choice to avoid people from click spamming. But, personally, I think I would have preferred being able to click more often but in exchange having less time before distributing food again.

I could totally seeing this expanded upon and being a game I would definitely get :)

Wheat Joust by Whismirk 2023-01-10T03:47:08Z

You don't come across a lot of 2 players games in jams like this, so that was a cool thing to see! I like the concept and the bit of lore you came up with for it. The game looks lovely; the art for the environment and the character design are really nice. I did come across some issues with the controls where the character would slide if moving and harvesting at the same time.

(I know you opted out of the audio rating category, but I'd still be careful using songs like that)

Grub Grab by ComicSans 2023-01-10T01:58:46Z

Interesting concept and unique gameplay mechanic controlling two characters with the parallax background. Definitely a fun challenge once I grasped the controls/gameplay!

A bit more instructions could help since it took me a few tries to really understand what I had to do and how to do it. I actually had an easier time with it on desktop than on mobile because the catches would register better.

Operation Carrotfield by archfan7411 2023-01-09T20:28:46Z

Really cute game! Unique and interesting mechanic that works pretty well. Lots of variety with the random generation and makes for some fun strategy decisions. Some more instructions would be great, though. While I was able to figure it out, it was a little confusing at first- which rabbit can do what, how much it costs, etc. There'd also be instances during random generation where objects would pile on top of one another (but perhaps this was intentional?).

DeadLyft by JoshH 2023-01-09T18:57:56Z

Very interesting concept and a fun take on the theme! Really like the art style and the subtle music fits the game. Perhaps it's just me but it was a little unclear what the goal was even with the tutorial, although it made more sense as I played. I did encounter some bugs where text would skip or already selected options would repeat.

Corpse Dealer by Astoeth 2023-01-09T23:31:30Z

Amusing dark humor, especially with the elevator and metal music contrast. Controls feel smooth and aiming works well. I was also surprised by how big the map actually was- no small feat for a game jam. It did seem fairly easy to avoid trouble with the police as long as you didn't outright attack them or waited to get act until they weren't close by.

Farm to Table: Wizard Edition by fc85057 2023-01-09T19:14:44Z

Thanks for letting me know! We did run into into some resolution issues along the way. Unfortunately, the game looked quite off without the re-size :/ I had my hopes up this would avoid most resolution issues but unfortunately that does not seem to be the case then.

Farm to Table: Wizard Edition by fc85057 2023-01-10T03:25:21Z

Thanks for all the feedback thus far!

@creamsicle42 @grisha I rebuilt the game and tried uploading it again. Hoping this fixed the issue!

Farm to Table: Wizard Edition by fc85057 2023-01-10T14:45:53Z

Thanks for all the feedback!

I appreciate all the input on the difficulty level. Looks like I bumped it too high. @plusminus "difficulty should be lower at ludum submissions" is a very good point and something I'll work on next time.

FWIW it ended up like this because it was too easy at first. During testing, we made 1000s of coins after playing 20+ minutes. But let's face it: this isn't a game you spend 20 minutes playing :D Maybe 5 minutes and move on to the next thing. That's why the difficulty got bumped. But it looks we went from "too easy" to "too difficult." Although I am tempted to upload a video now showing my strategy and trying to beat my high score :)

@algo-baker You need to go to the barrels at the top right of the screen to get seeds. Are those not showing up for you?

@noskro Ja, hier in Amerika ist nichts mit Reinheitsgebot :D Thanks for the detailed feedback! Lots of good points. I admit that the right click for actions takes a bit of getting used to. The problem was that we tried "E", the key usually used for "interact" in PC games, but it didn't work well because you constantly have to press it while pressing the WASD keys next to it. We tried space bar too but that was also thumb cramping :D Although it's still not ideal, right mouse button was best compromise we could come up with :/

Click to harvest by noskro 2023-01-10T03:48:43Z

I really like the mechanic of using the cards for planting crops. The design works really well; it's intuitive and controls are very responsive. The mix of 2D & 3D art works well and the game gives a relaxed vibe.

This may just be me doing something wrong but I was not able to do too much. I couldn't get research working and I only ever had access to one booster pack.

Redneck Fishing by Azel Wkr 2023-01-10T00:27:05Z

This makes me wish there were an "America" category for the ratings because this a clear 5 stars. Hilarious game. The humor is spot on and the pixel art is well done. I was not ready for that ending!

The gameplay loop is also a lot of fun and nicely balanced. The concept of a reloading cost and going back down to your previous gun with insufficient funds works great. Really nice job on the progression too; felt like a really good, natural scale. The slow-down effect of the bullet works really well and adds a nice level of challenge to the game.

As another comment pointed out, a little more of an effect as to where/what you're hitting could be a nice touch. Audio also varied a fair bit, but in a way added to the charm.

Excellent job!

Blood Harvest by SmelJey 2023-01-10T04:30:14Z

It may be a resolution issue, but I was only able to click on "Settings" and "Credits" but not "Play," so unfortunately was not able to try it.

Soul's Path by Gabriel Chan 2023-01-10T03:49:56Z

I really like the sound of this one. Feel free to tag me once it's up!

Arnold the Reaper by D3kryption 2023-01-10T02:10:34Z

Love this concept and the vibrant pirate setting to accompany the theme. The introductory cutscene is hilarious! Nicely done. The size of the map and number of NPCs considering the time limit is really impressive.

I had a few issues with the controls. With the mouse, the camera would move extremely quickly and make it hard to follow, and with a controller, very slowly. Camera aside, movement did work well. I also could only use the scythe at random intervals- not sure whether that is a bug or whether you can only use the scythe in certain places/circumstances?

The Harvester by flanne 2023-01-09T19:57:39Z

Love this tactical gameplay mechanic. Skills work so well with the grid set-up, and it's immensely satisfying to have enemies take each other out! The graphics and audio are beautiful as well and work great together. I encountered some resolution/graphic issues when playing on full screen where things would go off-screen. Is the grid intentionally smaller and not taking up more space? (Or am I just not good enough and the grid expands in later rounds :D ?) Great job!

Plant Donor by gobos12 2023-01-09T19:11:29Z

Hi! At the moment, it does not look like the zip/upload is working. It's saying "file not found."

Plant Donor by gobos12 2023-01-09T19:21:28Z

When I try to download the zip, it says the download fails because it can't find a file. While it could be on my end, I've tried it with a few different browsers and it's the same result.

Dear Ivan by fuzzyAgent 2023-01-10T02:40:35Z

Hi! Is it possible that not all the necessary files are uploaded? It looks like there's only an .exe, but program seems to have other dependencies.

Harvest Noon by dod108 2023-01-09T19:04:52Z

Fun game! The simple pixel art style is great. I really like the presentation overall and brings back fond memories of older games- makes me want to know more about the game's lore and what exactly is going on! I did find that if I just focused on one direction, I could go that way indefinitely while continuously ignoring enemies.

Hungry Hungry Horde by Wolforce 2023-01-10T15:49:29Z

I really like this concecpt and had a lot of fun building my little zombie army! Nice mechanic and a clever spin on the theme. You get a nice sense of improvement as you build up your army, are able to dig up graves faster, and take on humans quicker.

Although I did manage to grow my army, I never ended up getting a real "feel" for when humans are infected and would stay that way. Sometimes I was sure I got them but they'd end up being cured. I also got to a point where there are no more gravestones or shadows, just people randomly popping up.

Neat idea that I could see being a full game with a few more obstacles and variables if you decide to expand on it after the jam.

Chronos: Harvest Time by Flaming Aardvark 2023-01-10T16:11:10Z

This is a really cute game. Satisfying gameplay loop with a nice, quick difficulty ramp. I got completely swarmed right at the beginning of my first run, but then better understood how to go about it and subsequent runs went better. The character design is nice too, especially the title character. The bonuses are a nice touch, as well- I was not ready for that giant scythe :D I did have a few instances where the scythe didn't seem to properly register hits on enemies.

Chic hen's harvest by TanguyLcr 2023-01-09T19:43:05Z

Incredible art style! The 3D environment with the 2D comic style works really well together. Dashing and punching with the comic style pop up bubbles is very satisfying. I did run into an issue where I dashed down the stairs and ending up being trapped under the map.

Beat the Harvester by Cloverfall 2023-01-10T01:02:51Z

Nice tower defense concept that fits with the theme! Easy to pick up and play with the simple but effective control scheme and UI.

The harvester getting stuck bug was already acknowledged, but a wave indicator could be helpful. I wasn't sure whether harvester was stuck or I was supposed to be preparing for next wave. On second playthrough and realizing all the cannons could be placed in the middle, it became quite easy; something like obstacles or bigger radius could take it to the next level.

Unhappy Beaver by Zidoolan 2023-01-10T00:52:49Z

Glad I still had the old 360 controller in the desk drawer :]

Cute game! The controls on the controller work and feel great. I do agree with the other comment that right trigger would have been a nice option. The concept works well with trying to balance your own health while trying to preserve the dam. There's also some very funny voice lines here. When I was shooting a lot of enemies at once, they could get a bit overwhelming though with all the overlap. It may be helpful if they only occur with every second or third kill since they are funny and it'd be nice to properly hear them.

No Harvest by RogerW 2023-01-09T23:58:29Z

Amazing job all the way around! The game is beautiful, from the level, the icons, to the flashy destruction animations. Very intuitive mechanic and the gameplay loop is a lot of fun. A small detail but, as a few others have mentioned, I wish there were an alternative to the OK button. I see the benefit of having confirmation in case the player misclicks or changes their mind, but something like being able to press the spacebar would help make the transition between days a little easier.

The Harvester by Bas van den Berg 2023-01-09T23:09:12Z

First time participating and using custom C++ code base- this is really impressive! And the pixel art is great, especially for someone who hasn't done graphics before. I also thought using the souls as a resource for the temporary invincibility was a nice mechanic. I agree with the other comment's points. It is quite difficult, but may very well been intentional :) A risk/reward, incentive, timer, etc. system could really take it to the next level.

Harvest by MineNinja77777 2023-01-09T18:38:20Z

Cute graphics. Definitely theme appropriate. Nice and easy controls. Some text, either in-game or on the itch page could go a long way to clearing up what you're supposed to do in the game. It became clear but I was a little unsure why you wouldn't take the most expensive crop each time, since you always seem to double your input. A timer or other obstacle could go a long way.

Dreizehn: Grim Harvest by ScriptMage 2023-01-10T03:00:04Z

Nice job! I've always liked the track/rails design in games and it works really well here. It makes for a simple but satisfying gameplay loop. Difficulty is also a nice happy medium. Interesting main character helps to liven up the experience.

It may just be my not-so-great eyes but I had some difficulty seeing my remaining health. May possibly be easier having it with the UI on top? In addition to the timer counting down to the next invisibility use, it'd be nice to have a timer to see how much invisibility is currently remaining.
