LD46 — Keep it alive

Welcome Home by Iak 2020-05-11T11:14:09Z

Nice tight controls! The voice acting was a nice touch as well :D

Whalestrom by aevek 2020-04-21T19:32:25Z

Really enjoyed the setup and concept of the game, I can see this having the potential of being an attractive ip for players. The game assets were appealing, and the implementation of audio and effects really added to the experience in a positive way.

The player controller needs some polish; my input felt too sensitive and the damping felt like it was stopping me from doing certain manoeuvres smoothly.

I don't think anymore enemies spawned after the first? (Unless I couldn't find them, I'm not sure)

Overall, a solid entry :D Great work!

Hatch The Egg by sonmi 2020-05-11T11:16:04Z

This was a nice concept, especially with the cards and everything. However, the execution is not quite there. If you worked at it I think this would make a nice game.

Bubble Story by Nefrace 2020-04-22T16:32:37Z

This was quite a fun almost zen-like entry :D The player controller felt really good to control, at no point did I die where I didn't think it was my fault. I like the idea of the two modes of the bubble, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. The only issue I had was that I wasn't aware of the second bubble mode until I pressed RMB by chance (I'd recommend putting the controls on the ldjam entry page).

Great entry! Was a joy to play :D

In Brothers Arms by vizitas 2020-04-21T19:54:11Z

This was a really fun entry! The gameplay being as simplistic as it is, really makes it easy to understand as soon as you boot up the game. The level design was enjoyable and had quite a smooth difficulty curve. The only issue I had with the level was it was a bit hard to understand where to go at some sections (perhaps thats intentional? being a warzone and all). I felt the mortar strikes were a bit unpredictable which made them feel a bit annoying to get killed by.

All-in-all, fantastic entry! One of my favourites so far :D

Mount Ookie by Brusi 2020-04-21T19:41:10Z

I wish I could've played this game! It looks really cool from the screenshots. However, the game didn't seem to want to unzip correctly which made the exe not launch (error messages below).Capture1.PNGCapture2.PNG

Chonk Simulator by Bradalli 2020-04-21T19:55:14Z

@meowdy thank you! I agree, our team of artists did a fantastic job!

Chonk Simulator by Bradalli 2020-04-21T19:56:21Z

@billehBawb Hi BillehBawb, we are aware of this bug in the jam entry version of the game. Fortunately, there is a post-jam version where the issue is hopefully fixed!

Thanks for playing!

Chonk Simulator by Bradalli 2020-04-21T20:08:09Z

@Polifev Thank you so much! I agree but unfortunately we ran out of time before we could implement any audio :(

Chonk Simulator by Bradalli 2020-04-22T16:04:22Z

@lamasaurus Thank you! Sarah did a great job on the Troll portraits :D If we spent more time on it, I'd say we'd definitely tackle the player controller first. There were issues with the way placement worked as we hadn't tried a grid-based placement system before.

Thanks for playing! :)

Chonk Simulator by Bradalli 2020-04-22T16:05:34Z

@beasrabbit Thanks! Oh dear, thanks for bringing this bug to our attention. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to implement audio but there were plans to include it.

Thanks for playing! :D

Chonk Simulator by Bradalli 2020-04-22T16:07:13Z

Thanks @sunnray ! We're glad you enjoyed the gameplay :D We're aware of the issue with the seed placement, this is due to our inexperience with a grid-based system (often the target placement location wouldn't match up with the player).

Thanks for playing! :D

Chonk Simulator by Bradalli 2020-04-22T16:08:32Z

@billehbawb Ah... seems the fix hasn't worked then haha. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Chonk Simulator by Bradalli 2020-04-23T11:20:20Z

@slurp1e Thank you so much! :D

Chonk Simulator by Bradalli 2020-04-28T21:05:18Z

@owen-rees Thank you so much! Our artists did a great job :D Unfortunately that is a bug a lot of players have encountered. I'm looking to majorly rework the game in the future but I've got a lot of Uni work at the moment. Ah bugger haven't heard of that sphere bug yet :I must be a leftover placeholder!

Thanks for playing!

Chonk Simulator by Bradalli 2020-04-28T21:07:09Z

@dkviplounge I agree, we were a tad ambitious with the idea :P. Yeah a lot of that was down to running out of time (fun fact: we had sound recorded but sadly it never made it in :c) Thanks so much! And thanks for playing :D

Chonk Simulator by Bradalli 2020-04-28T21:28:46Z

@merpui Thanks! Yeah... unfortunately a large rework will have to be done to get the game working correctly. Thanks for playing tho! :D

The Hero of the Hamlet by theyellowgreninja 2020-04-22T16:17:32Z

The game seems fully functional and all the mechanics seem functional. However, I felt everything moved too fast. The player moves very fast, the enemies moved fast, they damaged the buildings fast. With only being able to shoot in four directions, made it very difficult to shoot enemies before they destroyed your buildings. With just a bit of balancing, this could be quite an addictive game!

All-in-all, a solid entry. Great job!

Ice Light by ThornDuck 2020-04-21T19:13:14Z

SCREENSHOT.png Unfortunately it seems I'm the only one with this issue. However, I can't seem to see anything except the player character and the light? I couldn't progress but I really wish I could've played!

Besides that I liked the effects I could see, the player sprite, and the audio.

Life-Line by Thiago Nascimento 2020-04-22T16:20:00Z

Very interesting concept, it was quite suspenseful! The controls were a bit jarring at first but I got used to it quite quickly. Appealing graphics and audio. I also liked the design of the creature.

Great entry!

A Way Out by emre tahtali 2020-04-21T20:06:22Z

Very nice graphics and controls! Only issue I have is with the difficulty curve of the level design, I felt the jumps were getting hard really quite quick after some basic jumps.

Great entry!

Bondfire by daidiimon 2020-04-28T20:48:47Z

Lovely graphics, catchy music, juicy sound effects and a fun gameplay! Only thing this game needs is a bit of balancing and difficulty curve tweaking. (Might be nice if difficulty increased as the player created more mama fires)

Midnight Technician by BillehBawb 2020-04-28T21:00:03Z

Nice, solid, and fun game! Only complaint I have is the length of the nights combined with the button mashing (my arm is throbbing haha) But the 'spinning plates'-esque gameplay was really enjoyable.

Great entry!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Humdrum by ZachsButt 2020-10-12T21:50:29Z

What a joyful little game :D

AutoMate by nelow 2020-10-05T23:12:04Z

Really polished looking game! This was my very first thought when booting it up! The splash cards, the main menu. And then when I started the game I was even more blown away the amount of effort put into all the level and assets. Really great concept of using your 'auto mate' (great pun btw) to help your solve puzzles, getting more and more intricate as the level went on.

My only gripe(s) would be the fixed camera angle as sometimes it would clip through the walls or I wasn't able to see where I wanted to go as much I would've wanted to. Also you might want to change the ROLLBACK sound effect as it got a tad annoying after a while.

Solid entry! Well done :D

Chaos in the Cabin by Moritz Jaeger 2020-10-12T22:11:14Z

My best was 00:57:20! Fun game! Albeit short but very enjoyable and humorous :D

Rhythm Step by Thulium Games 2020-10-12T21:56:20Z

Great concept! But I found the time the player had to plot their moves wasn't long enough and felt frustrating being under pressure in that way.

A Really Bad Day by Shyrro 2020-10-05T22:52:21Z

The interface was nice to use, there were lots of drawings, and your writing is pretty funny. It made me chuckle to myself once or twice.

Only thing I might add is if you could make it so that the player can skip to the end of the typewriter text as sometimes it takes quite a while for all the letters to appear.

Demobius Derby by Alasdair Hitchen 2020-10-05T22:30:31Z

Really cool racing game! I loved the gravity-defying design of the track! The vibe of the arena was also pretty cool with the lava floor and the cheering fans.

The main issues I faced with this game, however, was the handling. I would drive along fairly happily until I reached a certain speed where turning would cause me car to instantly crash into the wall. I didn't feel like I could control it.

All in all, you've managed to get a lot into this game! Driving controls, gravity defying cars, AI, powerups, the lot! A great effort for 72hrs :D

NeonLoop by aDaxxas 2020-10-05T23:28:53Z

Ooooooho I really like this game. I love the idea of clipping your wing on the blocks to eventually get enough to use the drill. Its a great mechanic because it makes it more engaging than a simple on the rails racing game.

Only a suggestion but perhaps make the ship slow down after crashing into a block?

Another Left Turn by Lebrra 2020-10-12T22:05:18Z

My time was 5:32.56! This was a pretty fun game :D for a shooter made in 72hrs you've done a great job!

Crima by amfibian 2020-10-05T23:01:08Z

Wow, what a great first jam game guys! :D I like the art, especially the player character. The animtion is so smooth :O

The hard difficulty isn't a bad thing but perhaps add some checkpoints and make the jump a little less heavy so that the game is a bit more forgiving to the player.

SquareMob by Paul Pgt 2020-10-05T22:41:34Z

I really like the aeshetics! Really nice pixel art. And I liked the concept with the enemies retaining the moves from the previous loop!

I had a few issues whilst playing; the controls (ZQSD) feel weird on a QWERTY keyboard but I realised that you had support for arrow keys as well, so perhaps make a note of this in your controls list.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Eldritch Engines by CameronPenner 2018-04-24T19:32:27Z

I loved the theme and mood, and the controls felt great! However I didn't feel the need to be first as I wanted to destroy the other karts.

Speeddating by PiotrMi 2018-04-26T21:17:32Z

What an adorable game! Such an interesting idea, I had a lot of fun playing it :) only slight issue I had was accidentally clipping cars when I didn't realise I would but I suppose thats part of the difficulty :p Thanks!

Jeff From Accounting by Almax 2018-04-27T18:18:25Z

Very well polished and an interesting mechanic!

Zoccer by PhilStrahl 2018-04-26T22:39:51Z

Splendid!

Horrors of StÄngby by Pixelcode 2018-04-24T17:21:41Z

I never thought I'd find myself being startled by a chair with googly eyes ha ha. Genuinely made me laugh and scared so I'd say you've accomplished what you set out to do. One issue I had was I struggled to find the last fuse which was a shame because I really wanted to complete the game, but still a good effort!

Stranded - LD 41 Game by Corvin 2018-04-24T17:00:03Z

I thought the puzzles were great fun and I found myself humming along to the tune when I was solving them. Great job!

Medieval Comedy DefJam : Heckler Edition by kyperbelt 2018-04-24T19:30:29Z

I really liked the gameplay, good effort!

Yum Some!! by frostByte4k 2018-04-27T22:13:42Z

I could imagine Gordon Ramsay yelling at me each time I failed xD Fun game!

Carchery by Stefan Richings 2018-04-24T19:42:14Z

At first I thought the controls were a tad unforgiving but as time went on I found it really fun and engaging. I found myself playing it longer than I thought I had.

Scarry by Memel06 2018-04-26T21:34:03Z

I thought the mechanic of yelling into the microphone was bizarre at first but I found it quite enjoyable! Nice controls and lovely atmosphere as well, very creepy.

Tennis Hero by JeffChen 2018-04-24T21:47:50Z

Very intuitive controls

Peculiar Adventures of Dorothy Hops by detectiveLosos 2018-04-26T21:44:20Z

Cool idea! I had fun!

Platform Assembly by Alaindelon 2018-04-24T19:00:31Z

Good effort! I like the idea and personally I think it's the kind of game that would do really well if it released on mobile. If it was a game I could come back to throughout the day I feel I would get addicted!

Typical by Magnega 2018-04-24T15:43:31Z

Absolutely love the idea of the game!

Storming Sands by grizeldi 2018-04-24T16:07:26Z

I had fun playing this game! :D I felt the swapping between racing and defending your base makes the gameplay more exciting. I did find not being able to control the camera myself a bit frustrating as I was struggling to turn in order to try and find the beacons/tanks. But overall great execution on a fun game!

P.S - Idk why but I found the platforms quite charming in a dopey sort of way

Haiti Kitty by Beebo Studios 2018-04-26T21:50:44Z

The controls took me a second to get used to at first but when I got used to them it was fairly fun

Hit the Green! by Azathothep 2018-04-24T21:38:31Z

The controls of the weapons felt a bit unruly.

STEW'M by Bradalli 2018-04-26T22:25:20Z

@hankworx yeah man! I might actually try and elaborate it in the future if I'm up for it :D I really enjoyed this Ludum Dare

STEW'M by Bradalli 2018-04-26T22:28:29Z

@bobismijnnaam @DanielHart @dkdwrek @TheM @ragtagradical @Amour Du Pain @jimmothysanchez @TheM Thank you everyone for all the support! You've given me the courage to participate in the next ludum dare :) I had no idea it would be this fun. I really appreciate the critiques as well, you guys have pointed out problems I hadn't noticed.

STEW'M by Bradalli 2018-04-26T22:40:58Z

@Articulated9 Spot on! I had so many ideas but I found myself having to cut back in order to make it in time haha maybe next time I'll try and be more ambitious!

STEW'M by Bradalli 2018-04-27T21:45:12Z

@Annie Owl Duly noted! I think I might work on an updated version and post it here.

STEW'M by Bradalli 2018-05-09T19:54:29Z

@a_a Haha I know its such a shame, my hubris was my downfall. I did have an idea of how to incorporate the cooking I just failed to make the time to implement it.

@gustavo.christino Thank you so much! I agree the goal isn't completely apparent to new players. Again it suffered due to over scaling the concept compared to my ability.

@Shelvid I'm starting to see it now along with others who have mentioned, I suppose that's what happens when you're the only one testing your game initially. I'm glad you found it fun :) and I will get on top of adding an option to alter the sensitivity.

STEW'M by Bradalli 2018-05-09T20:00:52Z

@PhilStrahl Thanks for playing Phil! I really appreciate that you took some time to take a look :)

I watched your video and it was quite insightful to be able to see a live reaction to my game. It makes all of the faults that previous players had mentioned ever more evident. I'll be looking forward to your post-mortem of Zoccer!

Cheers :D

Bad Beat by Drell 2018-04-26T22:07:38Z

What great fun! I felt myself getting addicted! I had to have several goes to try and get a perfect run :D only complaint I have is that I'd prefer if the cards were assigned to keys, but that might just be my preference.
