LD46 — Keep it alive

Save the Penguin by nuclear 2020-04-21T05:50:19Z

The water looks really nice and making waves with your mouse is really satisfying. I don't really get the objective of the game, like how to win. It seems mostly you just push around icebergs and then penguin jumps on them, and that's it. Some clearer objective would be nice. Good stuff!

Dr. Noir by UnidayStudio 2020-04-21T00:10:17Z

Very good game, I feel like the default player speed could be a bit faster though. Also, the art assets don't really look like a post apocalyptic world, they just look like... a normal world. So maybe a bit more themeing there would help. Good stuff

A Bzon Warehouse by wheybags 2020-04-21T19:22:19Z

I feel like the bathroom breaks were not needed, the game was fact paced enough already as it was. I like the concept of the game but it felt like it got very fast very quick, I think that maybe easing into it would make it better for newcomers. Good stuff!

Save UwU flame chan by playball 2020-04-21T19:04:07Z

I totally get what you were going for here with the warioware type thing, and I think you did it pretty well with one big difference. Warioware games are very quick and you only need to be told one word ("JUMP!" or "CATCH!" or something like that) whereas for these minigames you're given a whole wall of text and control and you don't have enough time to read it before you're suddenly in the game with no idea what you're doing. I think keeping the games a bit more simple could have helped, but it is still very fun. Good stuff!

Chonk Simulator by Bradalli 2020-04-21T19:53:42Z

I like the idea for the game but sadly I can't get very far because for some reason my character just slowly floats upwards to a point where I quickly can't interact with anything. Its fun for the first 20 seconds when I can still interact with stuff though!

Chonk Simulator by Bradalli 2020-04-21T20:07:38Z

@bradalli I downloaded the v0.2 version from your itch.io and still was having the issue. Is that the right one?

Lively by CJGladback 2020-04-21T05:39:39Z

A cute demo, but I wish there was more to play with.

How It Bites by Fire_phantom7 2020-04-21T19:23:41Z

Does it really need a setup installer?

Running Old Game On Windows 10 Simulator 2020 by Kszaku 2020-04-21T19:41:46Z

So this is really interesting and I want to keep going... but I am stuck on it saying "Insert game CD to drive C:\ and try again". This might be cheating but I've looked through the source code and I can't even find the message in there anywhere. Does it actually check if you have a CD inserted? Because if so, I don't have a disk tray on my computer. Or maybe I'm just overthinking this.

Running Old Game On Windows 10 Simulator 2020 by Kszaku 2020-04-21T20:05:57Z

@kszaku thank you!

Okay, now that I've actually beaten the "game", that was really cool. Loved the interpretation of the theme. I may or may not have got the key from the source code and then only realized afterwards that it was on the image... oops. Either way I did some detective work so thats what matters. At least that's how I am justifying it. Good stuff!

Bones 'n Roll by gerudoking 2020-04-21T05:00:41Z

Don't have much to say besides that this is a pretty nice game that does what it sets out to do!

8-Bit of Farming by StinkyKitty 2020-04-21T04:53:14Z

Uh, how exactly do you get out of the first area. I went around, tried clicking everything and using all of the keys that you listed, tried just sitting there for a few minutes, and nothing changed ever.

Catnip Panic by Platyp 2020-04-20T23:50:03Z

Very cute game! I especially love the design and art for the main character. It took me a while to figure out how to use all the different tools and areas together but once I did it clicked together nicely. The control and collision feels REALLY wonky though, which for a game mostly about dodging enemies seems kind of important to be good. Good stuff.

Why Baby? by Chris Rock 2020-04-21T20:28:06Z

This was fantastic. Kept me invested for a really long time until I beat it. Took me a few tries but the difficulty was just right. Love it.

Flora by LDF Productions 2020-04-20T23:37:47Z

Overall a pretty good game. A lot of the game's mechanics were not super easy to figure out though, and without reading the tips on this page I would have been very lost. I just beat the game and I STILL don't fully understand a lot of things. Does having ice hit my bucket fill it or does it just randomly happen? Why won't my umbrella place down sometimes, even though there is no cooldown? This could have all been explained better in the game in my opinion. A lot of the gameplay is just sitting and waiting for things to happen too, which to me isn't super appealing, but it does help build up the environment you're building, which you did pretty well. Good stuff!

Repair-it Roger by somethang123 2020-04-21T05:12:49Z

Make sure that you set your itch.io page to public!

Frank Was Alive by Joeriri 2020-04-21T06:10:06Z

I really like the concept of this one, but it found it very difficult to control. Even just getting over a small slope at the very start of the game took my a very long time just because it is difficulty to move the actual body due to the limbs constantly ripping off the body. If it just took more force to rip off the limbs I feel like this would be much more playable, because it seems to have a strong concept. Good stuff!

Keep Dano Alive by Blue Pin Studio 2020-04-21T05:50:47Z

Whenever I open the game it is just a black screen.

LeapLash by Maumau 2020-04-21T19:29:53Z

I like the concept of the game but the acceleration feels a bit too fast. Maybe tone it down so it's easier to hit enemies at the start but then once you get more powerups it becomes looser. There are so many enemies it is hard to keep track and keep the heart from dying. Good stuff!

CampFire by MatheusBorba 2020-04-21T05:36:40Z

The game looks fairly nice, I like the winter setting. However, I feel like the game is lacking in a win objective and content. If there was more to do than just bringing wood back and forth that would be nice. Maybe a score screen at the end? The camera and control are also a little awkward. Good stuff!

PRECURSOR by thaniel 2020-04-21T19:16:54Z

This is a really great idea! However, the cursor really lags behind my actual mouse movements for some reason which makes it very difficult to control. On top of that, the collision is really wonky, which got pretty frustrating in the levels where you had to go fast with accuracy. Overall with some more polish this could be really cool. Good stuff!

To The Sky by darksylvok1 2020-04-21T19:10:10Z

At first I thought the pattern of the birds was random, but then I realized all the colors have their own pattern, which helped me to dodge them after I learned the patterns. Simple game but pretty fun! My best score after playing for just a bit is 76. Good stuff

Keep the Conversation Alive by im the progamer 2020-04-21T05:59:50Z

The concept for this game is REALLY strong, and if expanded on I think it could be great. I love the realtime online element, that is very impressive for a jam game. Nobody was on when I was playing, so I got a friend to download it and play it with me. It ended up just coming down to us doing fill in the blank stuff to get the others to say the word. It is also kind of annoying how you can only send a message when the other person has sent one as well. But if there were some more rules in place and fixes this could be really cool. Good stuff!

LD46 By Kinto by Kinto 2020-04-21T19:58:35Z

I really like this game! The art is nice and the concept is pretty fun too. I just don't get why it had to be in a mobile aspect ratio? I really feel like this game could benefit from being in 16:9, because most of the time I ended up dragging my mouse offscreen anyways to hit the enemies I couldn't see. If the screen just extended further it would feel much better. I also really liked the different weapon types with the different stats. Good stuff!

Nightmare Knights by Low Mana 2020-04-21T05:25:46Z

A very cute idea for a game! A bit frustrating at times because the enemies kept walking through the bears I was spawning so I could do basically nothing but watch myself lose. Adding something where the bears target the nearest enemy instead of just walking by would be very helpful. The voice acting was very creative. Good stuff!

Pixel Ninja by JuanRojon 2020-04-20T23:57:12Z

I think that the slowdown and attack mechanics are really cool, but you never really have to use them. The best way to survive is just to run in big loops around the map because they can pretty much never hit you until there are literally hundreds of them all following you at once. Good stuff

Midnight Technician by BillehBawb 2020-04-21T20:51:46Z

@blue-pin-studio The stars show your completion of the game, you get them for beating the various difficulties. It isn't endless, you just have to survive until 6 AM :)
