LD46 — Keep it alive

Aniyah by gamechoy 2020-04-21T20:25:14Z

Really liked the dynamic of bullets lighting up the play area.

The Ludum Dare Flame 🔥 by tobiasw 2020-04-21T17:34:51Z

Amazing concept, it's fantastic

The Last Primpy by gamesplusjames 2020-04-21T17:11:21Z

Loved the music and feel of controlling the spaceship

Soulbound by Fenderbate 2020-04-21T17:21:47Z

It was great, I really liked the jumping and stabby combat system and how if I was getting overwhelmed I could buff my sword into a chaotic lightsaber and flail it about.

How to raise a Demon by zmoa 2020-04-21T16:41:33Z

Really loved the games aesthetic and the VA work was great!

How to raise a Demon by zmoa 2020-04-21T16:42:14Z

I really liked having to actually place the items in the summoning circle in the correct place.

Battle of the Blades by technodragon253 2020-04-23T14:13:10Z

Really neat idea with loads of room for more ideas, I found that the most fun way to play was circling around the room back to the health/spin square periodically. With all my deaths from straying too close to the bottom wall. Found the sudden death from getting to close to the edge brutal. The projectile enemies were neat but I didn't find them interesting to fight against as they just hid in a distant corner as I circled near groups of them on the verge of death to get some chip damage on them while distance seemed to be the most reliable way of avoiding their attacks.

Out of curiosity did the slowdown 'friction' occur when I was damaging the enemies with the spinners or only on collisions? Reading the description I was playing assuming it was the former picking them off one by one and had a lot of fun with that playstyle.

DataHunter by A_ColtZz 2020-04-21T20:02:28Z

Loved it, felt nice and fast to control. Air control felt great. And the art was just fantastic.

Catnip Panic by Platyp 2020-04-17T15:52:04Z

game jam time lads

Catnip Panic by Platyp 2020-04-21T00:02:41Z

@billehbawb thanks for the feedback, yeah as one of the programmers our hurtboxes were more than a little jank.

I should probably point out that this little jam is carried by the pixel art of @glaceo

Catnip Panic by Platyp 2020-04-21T22:49:47Z

@no-grapes-games thanks, yeah it is a major flaw that the info to go left for the tools, down for water and right for fertiliser isn't communicated effectively in game. I found it really interesting that you found the movement slippery, out of curiosity was this all the time or on the roads (which in hindsight shouldn't have been so similar to the water haha)? I'm just wondering if that feeling was due to the (excessive) doubling of the players move speed on those tiles.

Catnip Panic by Platyp 2020-04-21T22:57:15Z

@tobiasw It goes without saying and I can't believe I haven't responded to it yet but the entire dev team loved your diary entries. My fellow devs claim to have achieved a rating higher than C, but I suspect they are masochists who enjoy playing on our harder difficulties when easy is hard enough.

Catnip Panic by Platyp 2020-04-22T11:50:28Z

@torh Thank you for the high praise, our game is only hosted as a download on Itch.io at the moment. The only change we foresee to this in the short future is the uploading of a working webgl build to itch as we had to cut this due to the build having an issue with cutting out most of the sprites.

But we'd be delighted to formally give permission to anyone who wants to upload gameplay on youtube.

Catnip Panic by Platyp 2020-04-22T12:01:54Z

On another note in regards to youtube the music we used (http://teknoaxe.com/Link_Code_2.php?q=622) (the sfx were our own) was licensed from TeknoAXE under a creative commons attribution only license which should be find-able in our projects download zip files. I recall the uploaders site and video saying that the song is not listed on contendID so it should be safe to not recieve a copyright strike.

Both or Nothing by victor_reiner 2020-04-21T11:51:12Z

Really liked the mood, great descriptions on the mushrooms and berries burning making me unsure if they were edible.

Spacewhale Multiverse (Only You Can Save The) by SpreadsheetLover 2020-04-21T19:38:05Z

Loved this take on a bullet hell but found it annoyingly tricky dying to the first couple of waves each time. I found most fun flinging the universe up and defending it as it bounced around. Although I kept trying to knock it off course without picking it up by hitting it but just ended up picking it up and dying. Loved the theme!

Cell Defense by ziberteck 2020-04-21T00:29:41Z

Really liked how the antibodies brought germs to be killed in the static white blood cells. That was really neat.

SaverTato by LebbyFoxx 2020-04-23T13:46:45Z

it's a lovely little small scope game that nails the theme :) funny too!

Save Jeremy! by Uppitydonkey57 2020-04-21T00:31:35Z

Hilarious and charming, I loved the increasing panic of the health stages. The pushing was amazing after losing as he just ended up floating in the middle of a conga line of meteors haha.

LD49 — Unstable

Shaky Ground by ryusui 2021-10-05T07:46:05Z

Fun but I never seemed to find a benefit from the time stop mechanic, I kept trying to use it as a hold to stop or toggle. So always used it too early in the level and only completed them when I ignored it entirely.

Untable Flow of Time by cubebuc 2021-10-04T23:19:07Z

took me a few playthroughs to figure out that the game revolved around pressing shift rather than restarting but really liked it when I figured it out

Void Jumper by Platyp 2021-10-04T23:49:43Z

@cubebuc thanks for playing, yeah the entire game is pretty slow. I wanted the spawn island to be relatively safe to teach the mechanics. I should've made some sort of acceleration system where the level movement gradually sped up but I didn't set my level up with that in mind. I was hoping to get some more block variety having some configured to be more fragile or different bounce heights or explosive blocks but ultimately didn't use my time efficiently enough to get them in.

Void Jumper by Platyp 2021-10-05T00:26:36Z

@cor-3 I'm afraid sfx or music is not something currently within my personal skillset and the lack of this is a relic from my initial plans to make the game as a compo entry. I'm really interested that you feel a zen soundscape and mood would fit the game as this is far from a direction I was considering developing it.

Void Jumper by Platyp 2021-10-05T00:29:52Z

@mrchippy @maychant I'm pleased that although I could've communicated it better you were able to notice how the scoring system worked, I had planned on adding block variety to increase the engagement with the scoring system. Fragile blocks, bouncy blocks, explosive blocks destroying neighbours etc.

Helico Pter by 3LSTMsInATrenchcoat 2021-10-05T23:50:44Z

Really enjoyed the game, tho I gave up at the 7 min mark on the rocket stage. Managed to experiment with finding an amount of depth to the mechanics that really surprised and impressed me. Being able to use clever use of the landing gear mechanics to rapidly reduce speed by deliberately colliding with objects without destruction and even landing in the rocket elevator.

The Escape 49 by SpaceGuinea Productions 2021-10-05T23:45:11Z

Great game with a cool take on the theme, I liked the unstable camera effect showing a cannon was fully charged but only ever encountered it by pre charging right click before getting in. I'm not sure if I reached the end as the teleporter after the inverted cannons didn't seem to activate for me.

Genomancer by Noctiphobia 2021-10-04T23:58:09Z

I liked the idea it but I always seem to die before I get a good build going.

Wacky Gravity: An Unstable Ludum Dare 49 Entry! by Maximus 2021-10-05T23:47:59Z

Liked the extra polish of some of the vfx, but felt the tolerances on most jumps were too tight with imprecise controls. Not sure whether it's intentional that jumping while touching the green blocks caused them to jump matching the player.

Eroding Chickens by April Lehman 2021-10-05T00:17:23Z

My favourite games of the jam so far, love the interplay of unstable population dynamics of the chickens and the unstable island itself. I did find that as I built up the island the game got easier however as I had more land to work with as both 'health' and a tool for generating resources.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

ETERNARC by Talops 2022-10-11T21:01:57Z

Absolutely fab game, the ending allowing you to go infinite is a nice touch

FLV-51 by landosilva 2022-10-11T20:08:40Z

10/10 Charming and fab game feelCapture.PNG

Supply & Command by Hare Software 2022-10-11T22:41:00Z

Amazing interpretation on the theme with a great loop. Kept panicking that the tank traps were damaging me, but then got a lot calmer as I realised they just stopped the loop temporarily for a breather.

The Tenth Second Son by Caveman54 2022-10-11T20:40:56Z

Parry was nice and once you figured it out became a useful piece of kit in beating the fights

Business Munch by Yoni 2022-10-11T21:14:32Z

Funny va created a great mood

You're Furnished! The 10-Second Movers by Xenith 2022-10-18T09:38:56Z

@kalendhos, thank you for the feedback. We did find the theme constraining, and nearly reduced the timer by ~50% to get a more frantic feel.

In fact most of this testing was in a reduced timer state, and we likely overcorrected the other way in making the game easier. Making multi tile objects rarer, and making it possible to walk through certain objects,

Your comment about the points feeling unimportant and being unobvious without reading instructions outside the game is incredibly helpful. They are meant to be a primary focus (in encouraging you to make a nice looking house) but in the current state feel like an afterthought.

A Handy Job by 0X_VOID_X0 2022-10-11T22:18:16Z

Fun and brain melting, but some of the tools seemed difficult to find or absent

Santa Ltd. Express Toy Workshop by MTabasco 2022-10-11T21:23:22Z

Cool interpretation and theme, losing was a bit too sudden. But I had fun making (bodging?) cursed toys

Cat Blaster by Charred Axolotl 2022-10-11T19:25:50Z

Music, sfx and mood was exquisite
