I like the idea and the color scheme.
I like the graphics. The pacing could be improved by moving the camera long with the player in case they are faster than the cam
@cubebuc thanks for playing, yeah the entire game is pretty slow. I wanted the spawn island to be relatively safe to teach the mechanics. I should've made some sort of acceleration system where the level movement gradually sped up but I didn't set my level up with that in mind. I was hoping to get some more block variety having some configured to be more fragile or different bounce heights or explosive blocks but ultimately didn't use my time efficiently enough to get them in.
The simplistic graphics are really calm and nice. If you had a stronger shadow underneath the character it would make it slightly easier to judge where you will land on the next blocks. Good fun overall!
The camera is too slow, should follow the player maybe. Great concept though!
Interesting concept. I couldn't figure out how to score at first but after I did there was a clear goal what to do and how to do better.
Nice concept :D
really cool idea, but i feel like it's a bit too sluggish.
I'm not sure if it was the web version or something, but is there no sound to the game? I feel like this type of game could be insanely good with a really calming soundtrack and some satisfying sfx when you jump. Overall, it's simple, but it has a really nice vibe to it!
Scoring based on destroying the platform was an interesting idea. It's a good concept but it is a little boring. Speeding up the camera and maybe also the players gravity would help. I got to 50 points before I lost interest.
Nice! I like the mechanic of jumping across the platforms!
Neat game - I kinda wish the shadow was a little more defined since the isometric perspective can make jumps pretty confusing, though maybe that would remove a lot of the challenge. The physics are just fun to jump around in.
I miss the sound, even if only for the jumping for feedback. The shadow of the box working well and helps me see where the box are going. I was also kind little cofusin with the score system.
Reading the isometric space for movement reminds me of old British platformers, or Solstice on the NES. Very pure, good job.
Really like the graphics, simple and isn't trying to do too much. Got bored by the time I got to around 200 points. A good start.
@cor-3 I'm afraid sfx or music is not something currently within my personal skillset and the lack of this is a relic from my initial plans to make the game as a compo entry. I'm really interested that you feel a zen soundscape and mood would fit the game as this is far from a direction I was considering developing it.
@mrchippy @maychant I'm pleased that although I could've communicated it better you were able to notice how the scoring system worked, I had planned on adding block variety to increase the engagement with the scoring system. Fragile blocks, bouncy blocks, explosive blocks destroying neighbours etc.
Nice graphics and a unique idea.
It starts off a little slower than I feel it should have, maybe a difficulty slider could fix it?
Another issue is that its hard to tell where you're going to land. There is a small shadow underneath the player but a thicker shadow would help a lot.
Great job!
There's the seed of something brilliant here - it just runs a bit too slow to be engaging, and destroying platforms to score seems counterintuitive. The graphics are good, but a bit more variety in the environment would be appreciated.
There's definitely something here. It took me a bit to realize I could tick the score by fully deleting a block. Physically it was very floaty though and it wasn't always easy to tell where the block was.
As others have said, it really is incredibly slow, and it was not at all clear to me that I was supposed to be destroying blocks in order to progress. I spent quite a long time advancing slowly & carefully upwards while deliberately staying well short of destroying any blocks. I didn't realize what I was doing wrong until reading the comments.
The minimalist isometric art is quite nice, though. Once I knew what I was supposed to be doing it was relaxing and satisfying (especially when I was able to break multiple blocks at once), but not particularly challenging. As others have said, some simple "jump" and "block breaking" sound effects would be nice (nothing complicated, sufficient sounds could be obtained from SFXR or any of its newer derivatives).
It was sometimes hard to judge height visually due to the isometric projection. The shadow is presumable supposed to solve this, but it was very faint and I could barely see it. Making the shadow more visible would help a lot.
Overall, it seems fine for what it is (a prototype), although not something I'd be super interested in in its current state.
cool game ! really like the aestetic :) the concept is cool
The risk and reward of getting a new highscore at the risk of falling into the void is a really fun and interesting dynamic that fits the theme. Nice work!
Great game mechanics! The game lacks a little bit of sound and speed
