Bravo! Fun game man, I love games with such "computer handled" mechanisms. One annoying thing is when moving with the arrow it moves the browser window as well. Also the commands to dig, plant etc. are keys that are far from each others I had to look at my keyboard half of the time.
Cool simple game but i think chickens could be better explained and maybe instead of every key for different action make select bar with every action visual representation that you can select. And this page scrolling was annowing when moving

My favourite games of the jam so far, love the interplay of unstable population dynamics of the chickens and the unstable island itself. I did find that as I built up the island the game got easier however as I had more land to work with as both 'health' and a tool for generating resources.

Pretty good game, just had a problem with the arrow keys making the screen scroll down all the time. The graphics were simple but pretty. The sounds felt crunchy and nice. Felt that the shortcuts were a little weird, maybe a keyboard difference. Overall a pretty creative game

I liked the art direction, and it was a very interesting game idea! As others have mentioned the arrow keys scrolling the page made it a little difficult, but overall a very interesting game. Nice work!
Good music and mechanic but never figured out how to play game.
Really really love the art of this game. So simple and yet so nice to look at.

Simple art, chill music - very nice vibe going on. Had no idea what was going on, especially with the arrow keys that scrolled the page. It might've been better to have the information and what-not to the right of the game instead of below it.
thx

Really neat take on the theme! Super chill music too.
Nice chill game with a good amount to do. Took me a bit of getting use to (I think maybe there's too many different keys / things to do, would perhaps have been better to consolidate or do some kind of inventory-style thing) but I had an island that was inevitably disappearing before long. :-)
Nice game! I'm still not sure what resources do I need to build walls and fences though

It felt like fighting the rising tide. Well done.
Thanks all for the really helpful comments. This is the first time we (family of four with a 10 yr old and 12 yr old) have done Ludum Dare so we were learning a lot as we built this game. Really love the supportive community. We're reading all the feedback and thinking about how to do things for our next round.
Nice little game! Love the aesthetic and the original concept. It kinda reminds me of some classic games and text adventure games where you have to balance supplies! Great Job to you and your family! congratulations!

I didn't experience the arrow keys moving the page problem; might be because I clicked on the game before I read the controls.
I can't say this game was very interesting for me to play. You dig up the green bits, fence in the sand with at least one chicken, plant alfalfa and then maintain your island till you run out of dirt. No way to herd the chickens into the fenced area. No sound effects other than the sound of your own keyboard, planting railings/walls, and the ominous drone of the ambience.
Theme wise, felt more like it was made for 'decay' than for unstable.
Not sure why you opted out of being rated on mood but left humor up for grabs; I felt like it was a much moodier than funny game. The title and premise is a little funny, a chicken farmer on a constantly eroding island who has to grow alfalfa and keep the chickens from dying in the ocean. But the actual game, with the creepy ominous vibes and no chicken sounds, felt very isolated and moody, not very funny.
